The word which God sent unto the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ: (he is Lord of all:)
He has sent this message to the people of Israel,
proclaiming the gospel of peace through Jesus Christ, who is Lord of
all.
That word, I say, ye know, which was published throughout
all Judaea, and began from
Galilee, after the baptism which John preached;
You
yourselves know what has happened throughout
Judea, beginning in
Galilee with the baptism that John proclaimed:
How God
anointed Jesus of
Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and
healing all that were
oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.
how God
anointed Jesus of
Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, and how Jesus went around doing good and
healing all who were
oppressed by the devil, because God was with Him.
And we are witnesses of
all things which he did both in the land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they
slew and
hanged on a tree:
We are witnesses of all that He did, both in the land of the Jews and in Jerusalem. And although they put Him to death by hanging Him on a tree,
Not to all the people, but unto witnesses chosen before of God, even to us, who did eat and drink with him after he rose from the dead.
not by
all the people, but by the witnesses God had chosen
beforehand, by us who
ate and
drank with Him after He rose from the dead.
To him give
all the prophets witness, that through his name
whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins.
While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word.
While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all who heard his message.
And they of the
circumcision which believed were
astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.
All the
circumcised believers who had accompanied Peter were
astounded that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out even on the Gentiles.
And this was done three times: and all were drawn up again into heaven.
This happened three times, and everything was drawn back up into heaven.
Who shall tell thee words, whereby thou and all thy house shall be saved.
He will convey to you a message by which you and all your household will be saved.’
Who, when he came, and had seen the grace of God, was
glad, and
exhorted them
all, that with purpose of heart they would
cleave unto the Lord.
When he arrived and saw the grace of God, he
rejoiced and encouraged them
all to
abide in the Lord with
all their hearts.
And there stood up one of them named
Agabus, and
signified by the spirit that there should be great
dearth throughout
all the world: which came to pass in the days of
Claudius Caesar.
One of them named
Agabus stood up and
predicted through the Spirit that a great famine would
sweep across the whole world. (This happened under
Claudius.)
And when Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know of a
surety, that the Lord hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from
all the expectation of the people of the Jews.
Then Peter came to himself and said, “Now I know for sure that the Lord has sent His angel and
rescued me from Herod’s
grasp and from everything the Jewish people were
anticipating.”
And said, O full of
all subtilty and
all mischief, thou child of the devil, thou enemy of
all righteousness,
wilt thou not cease to
pervert the right ways of the Lord?
and said, “O child of the devil and enemy of
all righteousness, you are full of
all kinds of
deceit and
trickery! Will you never stop
perverting the straight ways of the Lord?
And after that he gave unto them judges about the space of four hundred and fifty years, until Samuel the prophet.
All this took about 450 years. After this, God gave them judges until the time of Samuel the prophet.
And when he had removed him, he raised up unto them David to be their king; to whom also he gave testimony, and said, I have found David the son of
Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfil
all my will.
After removing Saul, He raised up David as their king and
testified about him: ‘I have found David son of
Jesse a man after My own heart; he will carry out My will in its
entirety.’
When John had first preached before his coming the baptism of
repentance to
all the people of Israel.
Before the arrival of Jesus, John preached a baptism of
repentance to
all the people of Israel.
And when they had fulfilled
all that was written of him, they took him down from the tree, and laid him in a
sepulchre.
When they had carried out all that was written about Him, they took Him down from the tree and laid Him in a tomb.
And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.
Through Him
everyone who believes is justified from everything you could not be justified from by the law of Moses.
And when the Gentiles heard this, they were
glad, and
glorified the word of the Lord: and as many as were ordained to eternal life believed.
When the Gentiles heard this, they
rejoiced and
glorified the word of the Lord, and
all who were appointed for eternal life believed.
And the word of the Lord was published throughout all the region.
And the word of the Lord spread throughout that region.
And saying, Sirs, why do ye these things? We also are men of like passions with you, and
preach unto you that ye should turn from these
vanities unto the living God, which made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and
all things that are therein:
“Men, why are you doing this? We too are only men, human like you. We are bringing you good news that you should turn from these worthless things to the living God, who made heaven and earth and sea and everything in them.
Who in times past suffered all nations to walk in their own ways.
In past generations, He let all nations go their own way.
And when they were come, and had gathered the church together, they
rehearsed all that God had done with them, and how he had opened the door of faith unto the Gentiles.
When they arrived, they gathered the church together and reported all that God had done through them, and how He had opened the door of faith to the Gentiles.
And being brought on their way by the church, they passed through Phenice and Samaria, declaring the conversion of the Gentiles: and they caused great joy unto all the brethren.
Sent on their way by the church, they passed through Phoenicia and Samaria, recounting the conversion of the Gentiles and bringing great joy to all the brothers.
And when they were come to Jerusalem, they were received of the church, and of the apostles and elders, and they declared all things that God had done with them.
On their arrival in Jerusalem, they were
welcomed by the church and apostles and elders, to whom they reported
all that God had done through them.
Then
all the multitude kept silence, and gave
audience to
Barnabas and Paul, declaring what miracles and wonders God had wrought among the Gentiles by them.
The whole assembly fell silent as they
listened to
Barnabas and Paul describing the signs and wonders God had done among the Gentiles through them.
That the residue of men might seek after the Lord, and all the Gentiles, upon whom my name is called, saith the Lord, who doeth all these things.
so that the
remnant of men may seek the Lord, and
all the Gentiles who are called by My name, says the Lord who does these things
Known unto God are all his works from the beginning of the world.
that have been known for ages.’
It seemed good unto us, being assembled with one
accord, to send chosen men unto you with our beloved
Barnabas and Paul,
So we
all agreed to choose men to send to you along with our beloved
Barnabas and Paul,
Him would Paul have to go forth with him; and took and
circumcised him because of the Jews which were in those quarters: for they knew
all that his father was a Greek.
Paul wanted
Timothy to
accompany him, so he took him and
circumcised him on account of the Jews in that area, for they
all knew that his father was a Greek.
And suddenly there was a great
earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were
shaken: and immediately
all the doors were opened, and every one’s bands were loosed.
But Paul
cried with a loud voice, saying, Do
thyself no
harm: for we are
all here.
But Paul called out in a loud voice, “Do not
harm yourself! We are
all here!”
And they spake unto him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house.
Then Paul and
Silas spoke the word of the Lord to him and to
everyone in his house.
And he took them the same hour of the night, and washed their stripes; and was
baptized, he and
all his,
straightway.
At that hour of the night, the
jailer took them and washed their wounds. And without delay, he and
all his household were
baptized.
And when he had brought them into his house, he set meat before them, and
rejoiced, believing in God with
all his house.
Then he brought them into his home and set a meal before them. So he and
all his household
rejoiced that they had come to believe in God.
Opening and
alleging, that Christ must needs have suffered, and risen again from the dead; and that this Jesus, whom I
preach unto you, is Christ.
explaining and proving that the Christ had to suffer and rise from the dead. “This Jesus I am
proclaiming to you is the Christ,” he declared.
But the Jews which believed not, moved with
envy, took unto them certain
lewd fellows of the baser sort, and gathered a company, and set
all the city on an
uproar, and
assaulted the house of
Jason, and sought to bring them out to the people.
The Jews, however, became
jealous. So they brought in some troublemakers from the marketplace, formed a
mob, and sent the city into an
uproar. They
raided Jason’s house in search of Paul and
Silas, hoping to bring them out to the people.
Whom
Jason hath received: and these
all do contrary to the decrees of Caesar, saying that there is another king, one Jesus.
and
Jason has
welcomed them into his home. They are
all defying Caesar’s decrees, saying that there is another king, named Jesus!”
These were more noble than those in
Thessalonica, in that they received the word with
all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.
Now the Bereans were more noble-minded than the
Thessalonians, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if these teachings were true.
And they that conducted Paul brought him unto Athens: and receiving a commandment unto
Silas and
Timotheus for to come to him with
all speed, they departed.
Those who
escorted Paul brought him to Athens and then returned with instructions for
Silas and
Timothy to join him as soon as possible.
(For all the Athenians and strangers which were there spent their time in nothing else, but either to tell, or to hear some new thing.)
Now
all the Athenians and foreigners who lived there spent their time doing nothing more than hearing and
articulating new ideas.
Then Paul stood in the midst of
Mars’ hill, and said, Ye men of Athens, I perceive that in
all things ye are too
superstitious.
Then Paul stood up in the meeting of the
Areopagus and said, “Men of Athens, I see that in every way you are very religious.
God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands;
The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples made by human hands.
Neither is worshipped with men’s hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things;
Nor is He served by human hands, as if He needed anything, because He Himself gives
everyone life and breath and everything else.
And hath made of one blood
all nations of men for to dwell on
all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their
habitation;
From one man He made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and He determined their appointed times and the boundaries of their lands.
And the times of this ignorance God
winked at; but now commandeth
all men every where to
repent:
Although God overlooked the ignorance of earlier times, He now commands
all people everywhere to
repent.
Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained;
whereof he hath given assurance unto
all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.
For He has set a day when He will judge the world with justice by the Man He has appointed. He has given proof of this to
everyone by raising Him from the dead.”
And found a certain
Jew named
Aquila, born in
Pontus, lately come from Italy, with his wife
Priscilla; (because that
Claudius had commanded
all Jews to depart from Rome:) and came unto them.
There he found a
Jew named
Aquila, a native of
Pontus, who had recently come from Italy with his wife
Priscilla because
Claudius had ordered
all the Jews to leave Rome. Paul went to visit them,
And Crispus, the chief ruler of the
synagogue, believed on the Lord with
all his house; and many of the
Corinthians hearing believed, and were
baptized.
Crispus, the
synagogue leader, and his whole household believed in the Lord. And many of the
Corinthians who heard the message believed and were
baptized.
Then
all the Greeks took Sosthenes, the chief ruler of the
synagogue, and beat him before the judgment seat. And
Gallio cared for none of those things.
At this, the crowd seized Sosthenes the
synagogue leader and beat him in front of the judgment seat. But none of this was of
concern to
Gallio.
But
bade them
farewell, saying, I must by
all means keep this feast that cometh in Jerusalem: but I will return again unto you, if God will. And he sailed from Ephesus.
But as he left, he said, “I will come back to you if God is willing.” And he set sail from Ephesus.
And after he had spent some time there, he departed, and went over
all the country of
Galatia and Phrygia in order,
strengthening all the disciples.
After Paul had spent some time in Antioch, he traveled from place to place throughout the region of
Galatia and Phrygia,
strengthening all the disciples.
And all the men were about twelve.
There were about twelve men in all.
And this continued by the space of two years; so that all they which dwelt in Asia heard the word of the Lord Jesus, both Jews and Greeks.
This continued for two years, so that
everyone who lived in the province of Asia, Jews and Greeks alike, heard the word of the Lord.
And the man in whom the evil spirit was
leaped on them, and overcame them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.
Then the man with the evil spirit
jumped on them and overpowered them
all. The attack was so violent that they ran out of the house naked and wounded.
And this was known to
all the Jews and Greeks also dwelling at Ephesus; and fear fell on them
all, and the name of the Lord Jesus was
magnified.
This became known to all the Jews and Greeks living in Ephesus, and fear came over all of them. So the name of the Lord Jesus was held in high honor.
Many of them also which used curious arts brought their books together, and burned them before all men: and they counted the price of them, and found it fifty thousand pieces of silver.
And a number of those who had practiced magic arts brought their books and burned them in front of
everyone. When the value of the books was calculated, the total came to fifty thousand
drachmas.
Moreover ye see and hear, that not alone at Ephesus, but almost throughout all Asia, this Paul hath persuaded and turned away much people, saying that they be no gods, which are made with hands:
And you can see and hear that not only in Ephesus, but in nearly the whole province of Asia, Paul has persuaded a great number of people to turn away. He says that man-made gods are no gods at all.
So that not only this our craft is in danger to be set at
nought; but also that the temple of the great goddess
Diana should be
despised, and her
magnificence should be destroyed, whom
all Asia and the world worshippeth.
There is danger not only that our business will fall into
disrepute, but also that the temple of the great goddess Artemis will be discredited and her majesty
deposed—she who is worshiped by
all the province of Asia and the whole world.”
And when Paul would have entered in unto the people, the disciples suffered him not.
Paul wanted to go before the assembly, but the disciples would not allow him.
But when they knew that he was a
Jew,
all with one voice about the space of two hours
cried out, Great is
Diana of the
Ephesians.
But when they realized that he was a
Jew, they
all shouted in
unison for about two hours: “Great is Artemis of the
Ephesians!”
And when they were come to him, he said unto them, Ye know, from the first day that I came into Asia, after what manner I have been with you at all seasons,
When they came to him, he said, “You know how I lived the whole time I was with you, from the first day I arrived in the province of Asia.
Serving the Lord with
all humility of mind, and with many tears, and temptations, which
befell me by the lying in wait of the Jews:
I served the Lord with great
humility and with tears, especially in the trials that came upon me through the plots of the Jews.
And now, behold, I know that ye all, among whom I have gone preaching the kingdom of God, shall see my face no more.
Now I know that none of you among whom I have preached the kingdom will see my face again.
Wherefore I take you to record this day, that I am pure from the blood of all men.
Therefore I
testify to you this day that I am innocent of the blood of
all men.
For I have not
shunned to declare unto you
all the counsel of God.
For I did not
shrink back from declaring to you the whole will of God.
Take
heed therefore unto
yourselves, and to
all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.
Keep watch over
yourselves and the entire flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be
shepherds of the church of God, which He purchased with His own blood.
And now, brethren, I
commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among
all them which are
sanctified.
And now I commit you to God and to the word of His grace, which can build you up and give you an inheritance among
all who are
sanctified.
I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.
In everything, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words of the Lord Jesus Himself: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”
And when he had thus spoken, he
kneeled down, and prayed with them
all.
When Paul had said this, he
knelt down with
all of them and prayed.
They
all wept openly as they embraced Paul and
kissed him.
Sorrowing most of all for the words which he spake, that they should see his face no more. And they accompanied him unto the ship.
They were especially
grieved by his statement that they would never see his face again. Then they accompanied him to the ship.
And when we had accomplished those days, we departed and went our way; and they
all brought us on our way, with wives and children, till we were out of the city: and we
kneeled down on the shore, and prayed.
But when our time there had ended, we set out on our journey.
All the disciples, with their wives and children, accompanied us out of the city and
knelt down on the
beach to pray with us.
And the day following Paul went in with us unto James; and all the elders were present.
The next day Paul went in with us to see James, and all the elders were present.
And when they heard it, they
glorified the Lord, and said unto him, Thou seest, brother, how many thousands of Jews there are which believe; and they are
all zealous of the law:
When they heard this, they
glorified God. Then they said to Paul, “You see, brother, how many thousands of Jews have believed, and
all of them are
zealous for the law.
And they are informed of thee, that thou teachest
all the Jews which are among the Gentiles to
forsake Moses, saying that they ought not to
circumcise their children, neither to walk after the customs.
But they are under the impression that you teach
all the Jews who live among the Gentiles to
forsake Moses, telling them not to
circumcise their children or observe our customs.
Them take, and
purify thyself with them, and be at charges with them, that they may
shave their heads: and
all may know that those things,
whereof they were informed concerning thee, are nothing; but that thou
thyself also walkest orderly, and keepest the law.
Take these men,
purify yourself along with them, and pay their expenses so they can have their heads
shaved. Then
everyone will know that there is no truth to these rumors about you, but that you also live in obedience to the law.
And when the seven days were almost ended, the Jews which were of Asia, when they saw him in the temple,
stirred up
all the people, and laid hands on him,
When the seven days were almost over, some Jews from the province of Asia saw Paul at the temple. They
stirred up the whole crowd and seized him,
Crying out, Men of Israel, help: This is the man, that teacheth
all men every where against the people, and the law, and this place: and further brought Greeks also into the temple, and hath
polluted this holy place.
crying out, “Men of Israel, help us! This is the man who teaches everywhere against our people and against our law and against this place.
Furthermore, he has brought Greeks into the temple and
defiled this holy place.”
And
all the city was moved, and the people ran together: and they took Paul, and drew him out of the temple: and
forthwith the doors were shut.
The whole city was
stirred up, and the people
rushed together. They seized Paul and
dragged him out of the temple, and at once the gates were shut.
And as they went about to kill him,
tidings came unto the chief captain of the band, that
all Jerusalem was in an
uproar.
While they were trying to kill him, the commander of the Roman regiment received a report that
all Jerusalem was in
turmoil.
But Paul said, I am a man which am a
Jew of
Tarsus, a city in
Cilicia, a citizen of no mean city: and, I
beseech thee, suffer me to speak unto the people.
But Paul answered, “I am a
Jew from
Tarsus in
Cilicia, a citizen of no ordinary city. Now I
beg you to
allow me to speak to the people.”
I am
verily a man which am a
Jew, born in
Tarsus, a city in
Cilicia, yet brought up in this city at the feet of
Gamaliel, and taught according to the perfect manner of the law of the fathers, and was
zealous toward God, as ye
all are this day.
“I am a
Jew, born in
Tarsus of
Cilicia, but raised in this city. I was educated at the feet of
Gamaliel in strict conformity to the law of our fathers. I am just as
zealous for God as any of you here
today.
As also the high priest
doth bear me witness, and
all the estate of the elders: from whom also I received letters unto the brethren, and went to Damascus, to bring them which were there bound unto Jerusalem, for to be punished.
as the high priest and the whole Council can
testify about me. I even obtained letters from them to their brothers in Damascus, and I was on my way to
apprehend these people and bring them to Jerusalem to be punished.
And I said, What shall I do, Lord? And the Lord said unto me, Arise, and go into Damascus; and there it shall be told thee of all things which are appointed for thee to do.
Then I asked, ‘What should I do, Lord?’ ‘Get up and go into Damascus,’ He told me. ‘There you will be told all that you have been appointed to do.’
And one
Ananias, a
devout man according to the law, having a good report of
all the Jews which dwelt there,
There a man named
Ananias, a
devout observer of the law who was highly regarded by
all the Jews living there,
For thou shalt be his witness unto all men of what thou hast seen and heard.
You will be His witness to
everyone of what you have seen and heard.
On the
morrow, because he would have known the certainty wherefore he was accused of the Jews, he loosed him from his bands, and commanded the chief priests and
all their council to appear, and brought Paul down, and set him before them.
The next day the commander, wanting to learn the real reason Paul was accused by the Jews, released him and ordered the chief priests and the whole
Sanhedrin to
assemble. Then he brought Paul down and had him stand before them.
And Paul, earnestly beholding the council, said, Men and brethren, I have lived in all good conscience before God until this day.
Paul looked directly at the
Sanhedrin and said, “Brothers, I have conducted myself before God in
all good conscience to this day.”
For the
Sadducees say that there is neither a resurrection, nor angels, nor spirits, but the
Pharisees acknowledge them
all.
In every way and everywhere, most excellent
Felix, we acknowledge this with
all gratitude.
Commanding his accusers to come unto thee: by examining of whom
thyself mayest take knowledge of
all these things,
whereof we
accuse him.
By examining him
yourself, you will be able to learn the truth about
all our charges against him.”
But this I
confess unto thee, that after the way which they call heresy, so worship I the God of my fathers, believing
all things which are written in the law and in the prophets:
I do
confess to you, however, that I worship the God of our fathers according to the Way, which they call a sect. I believe everything that is laid down by the Law and written in the Prophets,
And have hope toward God, which they themselves also allow, that there shall be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and unjust.
and I have the same hope in God that they themselves
cherish, that there will be a resurrection of both the righteous and the wicked.
And he commanded a
centurion to keep Paul, and to let him have liberty, and that he should
forbid none of his acquaintance to minister or come unto him.
He ordered the
centurion to keep Paul under guard, but to
allow him some freedom and permit his friends to minister to his needs.
While he answered for himself, Neither against the law of the Jews, neither against the temple, nor yet against Caesar, have I
offended any thing at
all.
Then Paul made his
defense: “I have committed no
offense against the law of the Jews or against the temple or against Caesar.”
And
Festus said, King
Agrippa, and
all men which are here present with us, ye see this man, about whom
all the multitude of the Jews have dealt with me, both at Jerusalem, and also here, crying that he ought not to live any longer.
Then
Festus said, “King
Agrippa and
all who are present with us, you see this man. The whole Jewish community has petitioned me about him, both here and in Jerusalem, crying out that he ought not to live any longer.
Of whom I have no certain thing to write unto my lord. Wherefore I have brought him forth before you, and specially before thee, O king
Agrippa, that, after examination had, I might have somewhat to write.
I have nothing definite to write to our sovereign one about him. Therefore I have brought him before
all of you, and especially before you, King
Agrippa, so that after this inquiry I may have something to write.
