anger turn away from thee, and he
forget that which thou hast done to him: then I will send, and
fetch thee from thence: why should I be deprived also of you both in one day?
until your brother’s
rage against you wanes and he forgets what you have done to him. Then I will send for you and bring you back from there. Why should I lose both of you in one day?”

anger they
slew a man, and in their selfwill they
digged down a wall.
May I never enter their council; may I never join their assembly. For they kill men in their
anger, and
hamstring oxen on a
whim.
Cursed be their
anger, for it was fierce; and their wrath, for it was cruel: I will divide them in Jacob, and
scatter them in Israel.
Cursed be their
anger, for it is strong, and their wrath, for it is cruel! I will
disperse them in Jacob and
scatter them in Israel.

Wherefore should the Egyptians speak, and say, For mischief did he bring them out, to
slay them in the mountains, and to
consume them from the face of the earth? Turn from thy fierce wrath, and
repent of this evil against thy people.
Why should the Egyptians declare, ‘He brought them out with evil intent, to kill them in the mountains and
wipe them from the face of the earth’? Turn from Your fierce
anger and relent from doing
harm to Your people.
And it came to pass, as soon as he came
nigh unto the camp, that he saw the

merciful and
gracious,
longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth,
Then the LORD passed in front of Moses and called out: “The LORD, the LORD God, is
compassionate and
gracious, slow to
anger, abounding in loving devotion and faithfulness,

complained, it displeased the LORD: and the LORD heard it; and his
anger was
kindled; and the fire of the LORD burnt among them, and consumed them that were in the

anger was
kindled against
Balaam, and he

curse my enemies, but behold, you have
persisted in blessing them these three times.

anger was
kindled against Israel, and he made them
wander in the wilderness forty years, until all the generation, that had done evil in the sight of the LORD, was consumed.

wander in the wilderness forty years, until the whole generation who had done evil in His sight was gone.
And, behold, ye are risen up in your fathers’
stead, an increase of sinful men, to
augment yet the fierce
anger of the LORD toward Israel.

brood of sinners, have risen up in place of your fathers to further
stoke the burning
anger of the LORD against Israel.
When thou shalt
beget children, and children’s children, and ye shall have remained long in the land, and shall corrupt
yourselves, and make a
graven image, or the likeness of any thing, and shall do evil in the sight of the LORD thy God, to
provoke him to
anger:
After you have children and grandchildren and you have been in the land a long time, if you then act corruptly and make an
idol of any form—doing evil in the sight of the LORD your God and
provoking Him to
anger—
(For the LORD thy God is a
jealous God among you) lest the
anger of the LORD thy God be
kindled against thee, and destroy thee from off the face of the earth.
For the LORD your God, who is among you, is a
jealous God. Otherwise the
anger of the LORD your God will be
kindled against you, and He will
wipe you off the face of the earth.
For they will turn away thy son from following me, that they may serve other gods: so will the
anger of the LORD be
kindled against you, and destroy thee suddenly.
because they will turn your sons away from following Me to serve other gods. Then the anger of the LORD will burn against you, and He will swiftly destroy you.
And I fell down before the LORD, as at the first, forty days and forty nights: I did neither eat bread, nor drink water, because of all your sins which ye
sinned, in doing wickedly in the sight of the LORD, to
provoke him to
anger.
Then I fell down before the LORD for forty days and forty nights, as I had done the first time. I did not eat bread or drink water because of all the sin you had committed in doing what was evil in the sight of the LORD and
provoking Him to
anger.
For I was afraid of the
anger and hot displeasure,
wherewith the LORD was
wroth against you to destroy you. But the LORD
hearkened unto me at that time also.
For I was afraid of the
anger and wrath that the LORD had directed against you, enough to destroy you. But the LORD
listened to me this time as well.
And then the LORD’S wrath be
kindled against you, and he shut up the heaven, that there be no rain, and that the land yield not her fruit; and lest ye perish quickly from off the good land which the LORD giveth you.
or the
anger of the LORD will be
kindled against you. He will shut the heavens so that there will be no rain, nor will the land yield its produce, and you will soon perish from the good land that the LORD is giving you.
And there shall
cleave nought of the
cursed thing to thine hand: that the LORD may turn from the fierceness of his
anger, and
shew thee mercy, and have
compassion upon thee, and multiply thee, as he hath
sworn unto thy fathers;
Nothing devoted to destruction shall
cling to your hands, so that the LORD will turn from His fierce
anger, grant you mercy, show you
compassion, and multiply you as He
swore to your fathers,
The LORD will not
spare him, but then the
anger of the LORD and his jealousy shall smoke against that man, and all the curses that are written in this book shall lie upon him, and the LORD shall
blot out his name from under heaven.
The LORD will never be willing to
forgive him. Instead, His
anger and jealousy will burn against that man, and every
curse written in this book will fall upon him. The LORD will
blot out his name from under heaven
And that the whole land thereof is
brimstone, and salt, and burning, that it is not sown, nor beareth, nor any grass groweth therein, like the overthrow of
Sodom, and
Gomorrah, Admah, and
Zeboim, which the LORD overthrew in his
anger, and in his wrath:
All its soil will be a burning waste of sulfur and salt, unsown and unproductive, with no plant growing on it, just like the destruction of
Sodom and
Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboiim, which the LORD overthrew in His fierce
anger.
Even all nations shall say, Wherefore hath the LORD done thus unto this land? what meaneth the heat of this great anger?
So all the nations will ask, ‘Why has the LORD done such a thing to this land? Why this great
outburst of
anger?’
And the
anger of the LORD was
kindled against this land, to bring upon it all the curses that are written in this book:
Therefore the
anger of the LORD burned against this land, and He brought upon it every
curse written in this book.
And the LORD rooted them out of their land in
anger, and in wrath, and in great
indignation, and cast them into another land, as it is this day.
The LORD uprooted them from their land in His
anger,
rage, and great wrath, and He cast them into another land, where they are
today.’
Then my
anger shall be
kindled against them in that day, and I will
forsake them, and I will hide my face from them, and they shall be
devoured, and many evils and troubles shall
befall them; so that they will say in that day, Are not these evils come upon us, because our God is not among us?
On that day My
anger will burn against them, and I will
abandon them and hide My face from them, so that they will be consumed, and many troubles and afflictions will
befall them. On that day they will say, ‘Have not these disasters come upon us because our God is no longer with us?’
For I know that after my death ye will utterly corrupt
yourselves, and turn aside from the way which I have commanded you; and evil will
befall you in the latter days; because ye will do evil in the sight of the LORD, to
provoke him to
anger through the work of your hands.
For I know that after my death you will become utterly corrupt and turn from the path I have commanded you. And in the days to come,
disaster will
befall you because you will do evil in the sight of the LORD to
provoke Him to
anger by the work of your hands.”
They
provoked him to jealousy with strange gods, with abominations
provoked they him to
anger.
They
provoked His jealousy with foreign gods; they
enraged Him with abominations.

abhorred them, because of the
provoking of his sons, and of his daughters.
When the LORD saw this, He rejected them,
provoked to
anger by His sons and daughters.
They have moved me to jealousy with that which is not God; they have
provoked me to
anger with their
vanities: and I will move them to jealousy with those which are not a people; I will
provoke them to
anger with a
foolish nation.
They have
provoked My jealousy by that which is not God; they have
enraged Me with their worthless idols. So I will make them
jealous by those who are not a people; I will make them
angry by a nation without understanding.
For a fire is
kindled in mine
anger, and shall burn unto the lowest
hell, and shall
consume the earth with her increase, and set on fire the foundations of the mountains.
For a fire has been
kindled by My
anger, and it burns to the depths of
Sheol; it consumes the earth and its produce, and scorches the foundations of the mountains.
But the children of Israel committed a
trespass in the
accursed thing: for
Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took of the
accursed thing: and the
anger of the LORD was
kindled against the children of Israel.
The Israelites, however, acted unfaithfully regarding the things devoted to destruction.
Achan son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took some of what was set apart. So the
anger of the LORD burned against the Israelites.
And they raised over him a great
heap of stones unto this day. So the LORD turned from the fierceness of his
anger. Wherefore the name of that place was called, The valley of
Achor, unto this day.
And they
heaped over
Achan a large pile of rocks that remains to this day. So the LORD turned from His burning
anger. Therefore that place is called the Valley of
Achor to this day.
When ye have
transgressed the covenant of the LORD your God, which he commanded you, and have gone and served other gods, and bowed
yourselves to them; then shall the
anger of the LORD be
kindled against you, and ye shall perish quickly from off the good land which he hath given unto you.
If you
transgress the covenant of the LORD your God, which He commanded you, and go and serve other gods and bow down to them, then the
anger of the LORD will burn against you, and you will quickly perish from this good land He has given you.”
And they
forsook the LORD God of their fathers, which brought them out of the land of Egypt, and followed other gods, of the gods of the people that were round about them, and bowed themselves unto them, and
provoked the LORD to
anger.
Thus they
forsook the LORD, the God of their fathers, who had brought them out of the land of Egypt, and they followed after various gods of the peoples around them. They bowed down to them and
provoked the LORD to
anger,
And the
anger of the LORD was hot against Israel, and he delivered them into the hands of spoilers that
spoiled them, and he sold them into the hands of their enemies round about, so that they could not any longer stand before their enemies.
Then the
anger of the LORD burned against Israel, and He delivered them into the hands of those who
plundered them. He sold them into the hands of their enemies all around, whom they were no longer able to resist.
And the
anger of the LORD was hot against Israel; and he said, Because that this people hath
transgressed my covenant which I commanded their fathers, and have not
hearkened unto my voice;
So the
anger of the LORD burned against Israel, and He said, “Because this nation has
transgressed the covenant I laid down for their fathers and has not
heeded My voice,
Therefore the
anger of the LORD was hot against Israel, and he sold them into the hand of Chushan-rishathaim king of
Mesopotamia: and the children of Israel served Chushan-rishathaim eight years.
Then the
anger of the LORD burned against Israel, and He sold them into the hand of Cushan-rishathaim king of
Aram-naharaim, and the Israelites served him eight years.
And
Gideon said unto God, Let not thine
anger be hot against me, and I will speak but this once: let me prove, I pray thee, but this once with the
fleece; let it now be dry only upon the
fleece, and upon all the ground let there be
dew.
Then
Gideon said to God, “Do not be
angry with me; let me speak one more time. Please allow me one more test with the
fleece. This time let it be dry, and the ground covered with
dew.”
God hath delivered into your hands the princes of
Midian, Oreb and Zeeb: and what was I able to do in comparison of you? Then their
anger was
abated toward him, when he had said that.
God has delivered Oreb and Zeeb, the two princes of
Midian, into your hand. What was I able to do compared to you?” When he had said this, their
anger against him
subsided.

And the
anger of the LORD was hot against Israel, and he sold them into the hands of the Philistines, and into the hands of the children of
Ammon.
So the
anger of the LORD burned against Israel, and He sold them into the hands of the Philistines and
Ammonites,
And the Spirit of the LORD came upon him, and he went down to Ashkelon, and
slew thirty men of them, and took their
spoil, and gave change of garments unto them which
expounded the
riddle. And his
anger was
kindled, and he went up to his father’s house.
Then the Spirit of the LORD came
mightily upon him, and he went down to Ashkelon, killed thirty of their men, took their
apparel, and gave their clothes to those who had
solved the
riddle. And burning with
anger,
Samson returned to his father’s house,

tidings, and his

anger was
kindled against David, and he said, Why camest thou down
hither? and with whom hast thou left those few sheep in the wilderness? I know thy pride, and the
naughtiness of thine heart; for thou art come down that thou mightest see the battle.
Now when David’s oldest brother Eliab heard him speaking to the men, his anger burned against David. “Why have you come down here?” he asked. “And with whom did you leave those few sheep in the wilderness? I know your pride and wickedness of heart—you have come down to see the battle!”
Then Saul’s
anger was
kindled against
Jonathan, and he said unto him, Thou son of the
perverse rebellious woman, do not I know that thou hast chosen the son of
Jesse to thine own confusion, and unto the confusion of thy mother’s nakedness?
Then Saul’s
anger burned against
Jonathan, and he said to him, “You son of a
perverse and
rebellious woman! Do I not know that you have chosen the son of
Jesse to your own shame and to the disgrace of the mother who bore you?
So
Jonathan arose from the table in fierce
anger, and did eat no meat the second day of the month: for he was
grieved for David, because his father had done him shame.
Jonathan got up from the table in fierce
anger and did not eat any food that second day of the month, for he was
grieved by his father’s shameful treatment of David.
Because thou obeyedst not the voice of the LORD, nor executedst his fierce wrath upon Amalek, therefore hath the LORD done this thing unto thee this day.
Because you did not obey the LORD or carry out His burning
anger against Amalek, the LORD has done this to you
today.
And the
anger of the LORD was
kindled against Uzzah; and God
smote him there for his error; and there he died by the ark of God.
And the

irreverence, and he died there beside the ark of God.
And if so be that the king’s wrath arise, and he say unto thee, Wherefore approached ye so
nigh unto the city when ye did fight? knew ye not that they would shoot from the wall?
if the king’s
anger flares, he may ask you, ‘Why did you get so close to the city to fight? Did you not
realize they would shoot from
atop the wall?
And David’s
anger was greatly
kindled against the man; and he said to

David burned with
anger against the man and said to
Nathan: “As surely as the LORD lives, the man who did this deserves to die!
And all the men of Judah answered the men of Israel, Because the king is near of
kin to us: wherefore then be ye
angry for this matter? have we eaten at all of the king’s cost? or hath he given us any gift?
And all the men of Judah replied to the men of Israel, “We did this because the king is our relative. Why does this anger you? Have we ever eaten at the king’s expense or received anything for ourselves?”
And again the
anger of the LORD was
kindled against Israel, and he moved David against them to say, Go, number Israel and Judah.
Again the
anger of the LORD burned against Israel, and He
stirred up David against them, saying, “Go and take a census of Israel and Judah.”
But hast done evil above all that were before thee: for thou hast gone and made thee other gods, and
molten images, to
provoke me to
anger, and hast cast me behind thy back:
You have done more evil than all who came before you. You have proceeded to make for
yourself other gods and
molten images to
provoke Me, and you have
flung Me behind your back.
For the LORD shall
smite Israel, as a reed is
shaken in the water, and he shall root up Israel out of this good land, which he gave to their fathers, and shall
scatter them beyond the river, because they have made their groves,
provoking the LORD to
anger.
For the LORD will strike Israel as a reed is
shaken in the water. He will
uproot Israel from this good land that He gave their fathers, and He will
scatter them beyond the Euphrates, because they have made their Asherah poles,
provoking the LORD to
anger.
And Judah did evil in the sight of the LORD, and they
provoked him to jealousy with their sins which they had committed, above all that their fathers had done.
And Judah did evil in the sight of the LORD, and by the sins they committed they
provoked Him to
jealous anger more than all their fathers had done.
because of the sins
Jeroboam had committed and had caused Israel to commit, and because he had
provoked the LORD, the God of Israel, to
anger.
Forasmuch as I
exalted thee out of the dust, and made thee prince over my people Israel; and thou hast walked in the way of
Jeroboam, and hast made my people Israel to sin, to
provoke me to
anger with their sins;
“Even though I lifted you out of the dust and made you ruler over My people Israel, you have walked in the way of
Jeroboam and have caused My people Israel to sin and to
provoke Me to
anger by their sins.
And also by the hand of the prophet
Jehu the son of Hanani came the word of the LORD against
Baasha, and against his house, even for all the evil that he did in the sight of the LORD, in
provoking him to
anger with the work of his hands, in being like the house of
Jeroboam; and because he killed him.
Moreover, the word of the LORD came through the prophet
Jehu son of Hanani against
Baasha and his house, because of all the evil he had done in the sight of the LORD,
provoking Him to
anger with the work of his hands and becoming like the house of
Jeroboam, and also because
Baasha had struck down the house of
Jeroboam.
For all the sins of
Baasha, and the sins of Elah his son, by which they
sinned, and by which they made Israel to sin, in
provoking the LORD God of Israel to
anger with their
vanities.
This happened because of all the sins
Baasha and his son Elah had committed and had caused Israel to commit,
provoking the LORD, the God of Israel, to
anger with their worthless idols.
For he walked in all the way of
Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and in his sin
wherewith he made Israel to sin, to
provoke the LORD God of Israel to
anger with their
vanities.
For he walked in all the ways of
Jeroboam son of Nebat and in his sins, which he caused Israel to commit,
provoking the LORD, the God of Israel, to
anger with their worthless idols.
And
Ahab made a
grove; and
Ahab did more to
provoke the LORD God of Israel to
anger than all the kings of Israel that were before him.
Then he set up an Asherah pole. Thus

provoke the LORD, the God of Israel, to
anger than all the kings of Israel before him.
I will make your house like that of
Jeroboam son of Nebat and like that of
Baasha son of
Ahijah, because you have
provoked My
anger and caused Israel to sin.’
For he served
Baal, and worshipped him, and
provoked to
anger the LORD God of Israel, according to all that his father had done.
Ahaziah served and worshiped
Baal,
provoking the LORD, the God of Israel, to
anger, just as his father had done.
And the
anger of the LORD was
kindled against Israel, and he delivered them into the hand of
Hazael king of Syria, and into the hand of Ben-
hadad the son of
Hazael, all their days.
So the
anger of the LORD burned against Israel, and He delivered them continually into the hands of
Hazael king of
Aram and his son Ben-
hadad.
And there they burnt incense in all the high places, as did the heathen whom the LORD carried away before them; and wrought wicked things to
provoke the LORD to
anger:
They burned incense on all the high places like the nations that the LORD had driven out before them. They did wicked things,
provoking the LORD to
anger.
And they caused their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire, and used
divination and enchantments, and sold themselves to do evil in the sight of the LORD, to
provoke him to
anger.
They sacrificed their sons and daughters in the fire and practiced
divination and
soothsaying. They devoted themselves to doing evil in the sight of the LORD,
provoking Him to
anger.
And he made his son pass through the fire, and observed times, and used enchantments, and dealt with familiar spirits and wizards: he wrought much wickedness in the sight of the LORD, to
provoke him to
anger.
He sacrificed his own son in the fire, practiced
sorcery and
divination, and consulted mediums and spiritists. He did great evil in the sight of the LORD,
provoking Him to
anger.
Because they have done that which was evil in my sight, and have
provoked me to
anger, since the day their fathers came forth out of Egypt, even unto this day.
because they have done evil in My sight and have
provoked Me to
anger from the day their fathers came out of Egypt until this day.’”
Because they have
forsaken me, and have burned incense unto other gods, that they might
provoke me to
anger with all the works of their hands; therefore my wrath shall be
kindled against this place, and shall not be
quenched.
because they have
forsaken Me and burned incense to other gods, that they might
provoke Me to
anger with all the works of their hands. My wrath will be
kindled against this place and will not be
quenched.’
And all the houses also of the high places that were in the cities of Samaria, which the kings of Israel had made to
provoke the LORD to
anger,
Josiah took away, and did to them according to all the acts that he had done in
Bethel.
Just as
Josiah had done at
Bethel, so also in the cities of Samaria he removed all the shrines of the high places set up by the kings of Israel who had
provoked the LORD to
anger.
Notwithstanding the LORD turned not from the fierceness of his great wrath,
wherewith his
anger was
kindled against Judah, because of all the provocations that
Manasseh had
provoked him
withal.
Nevertheless, the LORD did not turn away from the
fury of His burning
anger, which was
kindled against Judah because of all that
Manasseh had done to
provoke Him to
anger.
For through the
anger of the LORD it came to pass in Jerusalem and Judah, until he had cast them out from his presence, that
Zedekiah rebelled against the king of Babylon.
For because of the
anger of the LORD, all this happened in Jerusalem and Judah, until He finally banished them from His presence. And
Zedekiah also rebelled against the king of Babylon.
And the
anger of the LORD was
kindled against Uzza, and he
smote him, because he put his hand to the ark: and there he died before God.
And the anger of the LORD burned against Uzzah, and He struck him down because he had put his hand on the ark. So he died there before God.
For because ye did it not at the first, the LORD our God made a breach upon us, for that we sought him not after the due order.
It was because you Levites were not with us the first time that the LORD our God
burst forth in
anger against us. For we did not
consult Him about the proper order.”
And when he humbled himself, the wrath of the LORD turned from him that he would not destroy him altogether: and also in Judah things went well.
Because
Rehoboam humbled himself, the
anger of the LORD turned away from him, and He did not destroy him completely. Indeed, conditions were good in Judah.
Then
Amaziah separated them, to wit, the army that was come to him out of Ephraim, to go home again: wherefore their
anger was greatly
kindled against Judah, and they returned home in great
anger.
So
Amaziah dismissed the troops who had come to him from Ephraim and sent them home. And they were
furious with Judah and returned home in great
anger.
Wherefore the
anger of the LORD was
kindled against
Amaziah, and he sent unto him a prophet, which said unto him, Why hast thou sought after the gods of the people, which could not deliver their own people out of thine hand?
Therefore the
anger of the LORD burned against
Amaziah, and He sent him a prophet, who said, “Why have you sought this people’s gods, which could not deliver them from your hand?”
Now hear me therefore, and deliver the
captives again, which ye have taken
captive of your brethren: for the fierce wrath of the LORD is upon you.
Now therefore,
listen to me and return the
captives you took from your
kinsmen, for the fierce
anger of the LORD is upon you.”
And said unto them, Ye shall not bring in the
captives hither: for whereas we have
offended against the LORD already, ye intend to add more to our sins and to our
trespass: for our
trespass is great, and there is fierce wrath against Israel.
“You must not bring the
captives here,” they said, “for you are
proposing to bring guilt upon us from the LORD and to add to our sins and our guilt. For our guilt is great, and fierce
anger is upon Israel.”
And in every several city of Judah he made high places to burn incense unto other gods, and
provoked to
anger the LORD God of his fathers.
In every city of Judah he built high places to offer incense to other gods, and so he
provoked the LORD, the God of his fathers.
Now it is in mine heart to make a covenant with the LORD God of Israel, that his fierce wrath may turn away from us.
Now it is in my heart to make a covenant with the LORD, the God of Israel, so that His fierce anger will turn away from us.
Now be ye not stiffnecked, as your fathers were, but yield
yourselves unto the LORD, and enter into his sanctuary, which he hath
sanctified for ever: and serve the LORD your God, that the fierceness of his wrath may turn away from you.
Now do not
stiffen your necks as your fathers did. Submit to the LORD and come to His sanctuary, which He has consecrated
forever. Serve the LORD your God, so that His fierce
anger will turn away from you.
And he caused his children to pass through the fire in the valley of the son of
Hinnom: also he observed times, and used enchantments, and used
witchcraft, and dealt with a familiar spirit, and with wizards: he wrought much evil in the sight of the LORD, to
provoke him to
anger.
He sacrificed his sons in the fire in the Valley of
Hinnom. He practiced
sorcery,
divination, and
witchcraft, and consulted mediums and spiritists. He did great evil in the sight of the LORD,
provoking Him to
anger.
