And they
smote the men that were at the door of the house with
blindness, both small and great: so that they
wearied themselves to find the door.
And they struck the men at the entrance, young and old, with
blindness, so that they
wearied themselves trying to find the door.
And the LORD said unto him, Who hath made man’s mouth? or who maketh the
dumb, or
deaf, or the seeing, or the
blind? have not I the LORD?
And the LORD said to him, “Who gave man his mouth? Or who makes the
mute or the
deaf, the sighted or the
blind? Is it not I, the LORD?
And if a man
smite the eye of his servant, or the eye of his
maid, that it perish; he shall let him go free for his eye’s sake.
If a man strikes and
blinds the eye of his
manservant or
maidservant, he must let the servant go free as compensation for the eye.
And thou shalt take no gift: for the gift blindeth the wise, and perverteth the words of the righteous.
Do not accept a
bribe, for a
bribe blinds those who see and twists the words of the righteous.
Thou shalt not
curse the
deaf, nor put a stumblingblock before the
blind, but shalt fear thy God: I am the LORD.
You must not
curse the
deaf or place a
stumbling block before the
blind, but you shall fear your God. I am the LORD.
No man who has any defect may approach—no man who is
blind,
lame, disfigured, or
deformed;
Blind, or broken, or
maimed, or having a
wen, or
scurvy, or
scabbed, ye shall not offer these unto the LORD, nor make an offering by fire of them upon the altar unto the LORD.
You are not to present to the LORD any animal that is
blind, injured, or
maimed, or anything with a running
sore, a
festering rash, or a
scab; you must not put any of these on the altar as an offering made by fire to the LORD.
And if there be any
blemish therein, as if it be
lame, or
blind, or have any ill
blemish, thou shalt not sacrifice it unto the LORD thy God.
But if an animal has a defect, is
lame or
blind, or has any serious
flaw, you must not sacrifice it to the LORD your God.
Thou shalt not
wrest judgment; thou shalt not respect persons, neither take a gift: for a gift
doth blind the eyes of the wise, and
pervert the words of the righteous.
Do not deny justice or show
partiality. Do not accept a
bribe, for a
bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and twists the words of the righteous.
Cursed be he that maketh the
blind to
wander out of the way. And all the people shall say,
Amen.
‘
Cursed is he who lets a
blind man
wander in the road.’ And let all the people say, ‘
Amen!’
The LORD will
afflict you with madness,
blindness, and confusion of mind,
and at
noon you will
grope about like a
blind man in the darkness. You will not
prosper in your ways. Day after day you will be
oppressed and
plundered, with no one to save you.
Behold, here I am: witness against me before the LORD, and before his
anointed: whose ox have I taken? or whose
ass have I taken? or whom have I
defrauded? whom have I
oppressed? or of whose hand have I received any
bribe to
blind mine eyes
therewith? and I will restore it you.
Here I am. Bear witness against me before the LORD and before His
anointed: Whose ox or
donkey have I taken? Whom have I
cheated or
oppressed? From whose hand have I accepted a
bribe and closed my eyes? Tell me, and I will restore it to you.”
And the king and his men went to Jerusalem unto the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land: which spake unto David, saying, Except thou take away the
blind and the
lame, thou shalt not come in
hither: thinking, David cannot come in
hither.
Now the king and his men marched to Jerusalem against the Jebusites who inhabited the land. The Jebusites said to David: “You will never get in here. Even the
blind and
lame can
repel you.” For they thought, “David cannot get in here.”
And David said on that day,
Whosoever getteth up to the
gutter, and smiteth the Jebusites, and the
lame and the
blind, that are
hated of David’s soul, he shall be chief and captain. Wherefore they said, The
blind and the
lame shall not come into the house.
On that day he said, “
Whoever attacks the Jebusites must use the water shaft to reach the
lame and
blind who are
despised by David.” That is why it is said, “The
blind and the
lame will never enter the palace.”
And when they came down to him,
Elisha prayed unto the LORD, and said,
Smite this people, I pray thee, with
blindness. And he
smote them with
blindness according to the word of
Elisha.
As the Arameans came down against him,
Elisha prayed to the LORD, “Please strike these people with
blindness.” So He struck them with
blindness, according to the word of
Elisha.
The earth is given into the hand of the wicked: he covereth the faces of the judges thereof; if not, where, and who is he?
The earth is given into the hand of the wicked; He blindfolds its judges. If it is not He, then who is it?
I was eyes to the
blind, and feet was I to the
lame.
I served as eyes to the
blind and as feet to the
lame.
The LORD openeth the eyes of the blind: the LORD raiseth them that are bowed down: the LORD loveth the righteous:
the LORD opens the eyes of the
blind, the LORD lifts those who are
weighed down, the LORD loves the righteous.
Stay
yourselves, and wonder; cry ye out, and cry: they are
drunken, but not with wine; they
stagger, but not with strong drink.
And in that day shall the
deaf hear the words of the book, and the eyes of the
blind shall see out of obscurity, and out of darkness.
On that day the
deaf will hear the words of the
scroll, and out of the deep darkness the eyes of the
blind will see.
Then the eyes of the
blind shall be opened, and the ears of the
deaf shall be unstopped.
Then the eyes of the
blind will be opened and the ears of the
deaf unstopped.
To open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house.
to open the eyes of the
blind, to bring prisoners out of the
dungeon and those sitting in darkness out from the prison house.
And I will bring the
blind by a way that they knew not; I will lead them in paths that they have not known: I will make darkness light before them, and
crooked things straight. These things will I do unto them, and not
forsake them.
I will lead the
blind by a way they did not know; I will guide them on unfamiliar paths. I will turn darkness into light before them and rough places into level ground. These things I will do for them, and I will not
forsake them.
Hear, ye
deaf; and look, ye
blind, that ye may see.
Listen, you
deaf ones; look, you
blind ones, that you may see!
Who is
blind, but my servant? or
deaf, as my
messenger that I sent? who is
blind as he that is perfect, and
blind as the LORD’S servant?
Who is
blind but My servant, or
deaf like the
messenger I am sending? Who is
blind like My covenant
partner, or
blind like the servant of the LORD?
Bring forth the
blind people that have eyes, and the
deaf that have ears.
Bring out a people who have eyes but are
blind, and who have ears but are
deaf.
His
watchmen are
blind: they are all ignorant, they are all
dumb dogs, they cannot bark; sleeping, lying down, loving to
slumber.
Israel’s
watchmen are
blind, they are all
oblivious; they are all
mute dogs, they cannot bark; they are dreamers lying around, loving to
slumber.
Like the
blind, we feel our way along the wall,
groping like those without eyes. We
stumble at
midday as in the
twilight; among the vigorous we are like the dead.
Behold, I will bring them from the north country, and gather them from the coasts of the earth, and with them the
blind and the
lame, the woman with child and her that travaileth with child together: a great company shall return thither.
Behold, I will bring them from the land of the north and gather them from the
farthest parts of the earth, including the
blind and the
lame,
expectant mothers and women in labor. They will return as a great assembly!
They have
wandered as
blind men in the streets, they have
polluted themselves with blood, so that men could not touch their garments.
They
wandered blind in the streets,
defiled by this blood, so that no one
dared to touch their garments.
And I will bring distress upon men, that they shall walk like
blind men, because they have
sinned against the LORD: and their blood shall be poured out as dust, and their flesh as the dung.
I will bring such distress on mankind that they will walk like the
blind, because they have
sinned against the LORD. Their blood will be poured out like dust and their flesh like dung.
Woe to the
idol shepherd that leaveth the flock! the sword shall be upon his arm, and upon his right eye: his arm shall be clean dried up, and his right eye shall be utterly
darkened.
Woe to the worthless
shepherd, who deserts the flock! May a sword strike his arm and his right eye! May his arm be completely
withered and his right eye utterly
blinded!”
In that day, saith the LORD, I will
smite every horse with
astonishment, and his rider with madness: and I will open mine eyes upon the house of Judah, and will
smite every horse of the people with
blindness.
On that day, declares the LORD, I will strike every horse with
panic, and every rider with madness. I will keep a watchful eye on the house of Judah, but I will strike with
blindness all the horses of the nations.
And if ye offer the
blind for sacrifice, is it not evil? and if ye offer the
lame and sick, is it not evil? offer it now unto thy governor; will he be pleased with thee, or accept thy person? saith the LORD of hosts.
When you offer
blind animals for sacrifice, is it not wrong? And when you present the
lame and sick ones, is it not wrong? Try offering them to your governor! Would he be pleased with you or show you favor?” asks the LORD of Hosts.
And when Jesus departed thence, two blind men followed him, crying, and saying, Thou Son of David, have mercy on us.

And when he was come into the house, the
blind men came to him: and Jesus saith unto them, Believe ye that I am able to do this? They said unto him,
Yea, Lord.
After Jesus had entered the house, the
blind men came to Him. “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” He asked. “
Yes, Lord,” they answered.
The
blind receive their sight, and the
lame walk, the lepers are
cleansed, and the
deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them.
The
blind receive sight, the
lame walk, the lepers are
cleansed, the
deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is preached to the poor.
Then was brought unto him one possessed with a devil,
blind, and
dumb: and he
healed him,
insomuch that the
blind and
dumb both spake and saw.
Then a
demon-possessed man who was
blind and
mute was brought to Jesus, and He
healed the man so that he could speak and see.
Let them alone: they be
blind leaders of the
blind. And if the
blind lead the
blind, both shall fall into the
ditch.
Disregard them! They are blind guides. If a blind man leads a blind man, both will fall into a pit.”
And great multitudes came unto him, having with them those that were
lame,
blind,
dumb,
maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus’ feet; and he
healed them:
Large crowds came to Him, bringing the
lame, the
blind, the
crippled, the
mute, and many others, and laid them at His feet, and He
healed them.
Insomuch that the multitude wondered, when they saw the
dumb to speak, the
maimed to be whole, the
lame to walk, and the
blind to see: and they
glorified the God of Israel.
And, behold, two
blind men sitting by the way side, when they heard that Jesus passed by,
cried out, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, thou Son of David.
And there were two
blind men sitting beside the road. When they heard that Jesus was passing by, they
cried out, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!”
And the
blind and the
lame came to him in the temple; and he
healed them.
The
blind and the
lame came to Him at the temple, and He
healed them.
Woe to you,
blind guides! You say, ‘If
anyone swears by the temple, it means nothing; but if
anyone swears by the gold of the temple, he is bound by his oath.’
Ye fools and blind: for whether is greater, the gold, or the temple that sanctifieth the gold?
You blind fools! Which is greater: the gold, or the temple that makes it sacred?
Ye fools and blind: for whether is greater, the gift, or the altar that sanctifieth the gift?
You blind men! Which is greater: the gift, or the altar that makes it sacred?
Thou
blind Pharisee,
cleanse first that which is within the cup and
platter, that the outside of them may be clean also.
Blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup and
dish, so that the outside may become clean as well.
And he cometh to
Bethsaida; and they bring a
blind man unto him, and
besought him to touch him.
When they arrived at
Bethsaida, some people brought a
blind man and
begged Jesus to touch him.
And he took the
blind man by the hand, and led him out of the town; and when he had
spit on his eyes, and put his hands upon him, he asked him if he saw ought.
So He took the
blind man by the hand and led him out of the village. Then He
spit on the man’s eyes and placed His hands on him. “Can you see anything?” He asked.
And they came to
Jericho: and as he went out of
Jericho with his disciples and a great number of people,
blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the
highway side
begging.
Next, they came to
Jericho. And as Jesus and His disciples were leaving
Jericho with a large crowd, a
blind beggar named Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, was sitting beside the road.
And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called. And they call the blind man, saying unto him, Be of good comfort, rise; he calleth thee.
Jesus stopped and said, “Call him.” So they called the blind man. “Take courage!” they said. “Get up! He is calling for you.”
And Jesus answered and said unto him, What
wilt thou that I should do unto thee? The
blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight.
“What do you want Me to do for you?” Jesus asked. “Rabboni,” said the blind man, “let me see again.”
And some began to
spit on him, and to cover his face, and to
buffet him, and to say unto him,
Prophesy: and the servants did strike him with the palms of their hands.
Then some of them began to
spit on Him. They
blindfolded Him, struck Him with their fists, and said to Him, “
Prophesy!” And the officers received Him with slaps in His face.
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath
anointed me to
preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to
heal the brokenhearted, to
preach deliverance to the
captives, and recovering of sight to the
blind, to set at liberty them that are
bruised,
“The Spirit of the Lord is on Me, because He has
anointed Me to
preach good news to the poor. He has sent Me to
proclaim liberty to the
captives and recovery of sight to the
blind, to release the
oppressed,
And he spake a parable unto them, Can the
blind lead the
blind? shall they not both fall into the
ditch?
Jesus also told them a parable: “Can a blind man lead a blind man? Will they not both fall into a pit?
And in that same hour he cured many of their
infirmities and plagues, and of evil spirits; and unto many that were
blind he gave sight.
At that very hour Jesus
healed many people of their diseases, afflictions, and evil spirits, and He gave sight to many who were
blind.
Then Jesus answering said unto them, Go your way, and tell John what things ye have seen and heard; how that the
blind see, the
lame walk, the lepers are
cleansed, the
deaf hear, the dead are raised, to the poor the gospel is preached.
So He replied, “Go back and report to John what you have seen and heard: The
blind receive sight, the
lame walk, the lepers are
cleansed, the
deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is preached to the poor.
But when thou makest a feast, call the poor, the
maimed, the
lame, the
blind:
So that servant came, and shewed his lord these things. Then the master of the house being
angry said to his servant, Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in
hither the poor, and the
maimed, and the
halt, and the
blind.
The servant returned and reported all this to his master. Then the owner of the house became
angry and said to his servant, ‘Go out quickly into the streets and
alleys of the city, and bring in the poor, the
crippled, the
blind, and the
lame.’
And it came to pass, that as he was come
nigh unto
Jericho, a certain
blind man sat by the way side
begging:
As Jesus drew near to
Jericho, a
blind man was sitting beside the road,
begging.
And when they had
blindfolded him, they struck him on the face, and asked him, saying,
Prophesy, who is it that
smote thee?
On these walkways lay a great number of the sick, the
blind, the
lame, and the
paralyzed.
And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth.
Now as Jesus was passing by, He saw a man blind from birth,
And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?
and His disciples asked Him, “
Rabbi, who
sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born
blind?”
When he had thus spoken, he
spat on the ground, and made clay of the
spittle, and he
anointed the eyes of the
blind man with the clay,
When Jesus had said this, He
spit on the ground, made some mud, and applied it to the man’s eyes.
The neighbours therefore, and they which before had seen him that he was
blind, said, Is not this he that sat and
begged?
At this, his neighbors and those who had formerly seen him
begging began to ask, “Isn’t this the man who used to sit and
beg?”
They brought to the
Pharisees the man who had been
blind.
They say unto the blind man again, What sayest thou of him, that he hath opened thine eyes? He said, He is a prophet.
So once again they asked the man who had been blind, “What do you say about Him, since it was your eyes He opened?” “He is a prophet,” the man replied.
But the Jews did not believe concerning him, that he had been blind, and received his sight, until they called the parents of him that had received his sight.
The Jews still did not believe that the man had been blind and had received his sight until they summoned his parents
And they asked them, saying, Is this your son, who ye say was born
blind? how then
doth he now see?
and asked, “Is this your son, the one you say was born blind? So how is it that he can now see?”
His parents answered them and said, We know that this is our son, and that he was born blind:
His parents answered, “We know he is our son, and we know he was born blind.
Then again called they the man that was
blind, and said unto him, Give God the praise: we know that this man is a
sinner.
So a second time they called for the man who had been
blind and said, “Give glory to God! We know that this man is a
sinner.”
He answered and said, Whether he be a
sinner or no, I know not: one thing I know, that, whereas I was
blind, now I see.
He answered, “Whether He is a
sinner I do not know. There is one thing I do know: I was
blind, but now I see!”
Since the world began was it not heard that any man opened the eyes of one that was born blind.
Never before has
anyone heard of opening the eyes of a man born
blind.
And Jesus said, For judgment I am come into this world, that they which see not might see; and that they which see might be made blind.
Then Jesus declared, “For judgment I have come into this world, so that the blind may see and those who see may become blind.”
And some of the
Pharisees which were with him heard these words, and said unto him, Are we
blind also?
Some of the
Pharisees who were with Him heard this, and they asked Him, “Are we
blind too?”
Jesus said unto them, If ye were blind, ye should have no sin: but now ye say, We see; therefore your sin remaineth.
“If you were blind,” Jesus replied, “you would not be guilty of sin. But since you claim you can see, your guilt remains.”
Others said, These are not the words of him that hath a devil. Can a devil open the eyes of the blind?
But others replied, “These are not the words of a man possessed by a
demon. Can a
demon open the eyes of the
blind?”
And some of them said, Could not this man, which opened the eyes of the blind, have caused that even this man should not have died?
But some of them asked, “Could not this man who opened the eyes of the
blind also have kept
Lazarus from dying?”
He hath
blinded their eyes, and
hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should
heal them.
“He has
blinded their eyes and
hardened their hearts, so that they cannot see with their eyes, and understand with their hearts, and turn, and I would
heal them.”
And now, behold, the hand of the Lord is upon thee, and thou shalt be
blind, not seeing the sun for a season. And immediately there fell on him a
mist and a darkness; and he went about seeking some to lead him by the hand.
Now look, the hand of the Lord is against you, and for a time you will be
blind and unable to see the light of the sun.” Immediately
mist and darkness came over him, and he
groped about, seeking someone to lead him by the hand.
And when I could not see for the glory of that light, being led by the hand of them that were with me, I came into Damascus.
Because the brilliance of the light had blinded me, my companions led me by the hand into Damascus.
And art
confident that thou
thyself art a guide of the
blind, a light of them which are in darkness,
if you are
convinced that you are a guide for the
blind, a light for those in darkness,
What then? Israel hath not obtained that which he seeketh for; but the election hath obtained it, and the rest were blinded
What then? What Israel was seeking, it failed to obtain, but the
elect did. The others were
hardened,
For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this
mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that
blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the
fulness of the Gentiles be come in.
I do not want you to be ignorant of this
mystery, brothers, so that you will not be
conceited: A
hardening in part has come to Israel, until the full number of the Gentiles has come in.
But their minds were
blinded: for until this day remaineth the same
vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which
vail is done away in Christ.
But their minds were closed. For to this day the same
veil remains at the reading of the old covenant. It has not been lifted, because only in Christ can it be removed.
In whom the god of this world hath
blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should
shine unto them.
The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers so they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
Having the understanding
darkened, being
alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the
blindness of their heart:
They are
darkened in their understanding and
alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardness of their hearts.
But he that lacketh these things is
blind, and cannot see
afar off, and hath forgotten that he was
purged from his old sins.
But
whoever lacks these traits is
nearsighted to the point of
blindness, having forgotten that he has been
cleansed from his past sins.
But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not
whither he goeth, because that darkness hath
blinded his eyes.
But
whoever hates his brother is in the darkness and walks in the darkness. He does not know where he is going, because the darkness has
blinded his eyes.
Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art
wretched, and
miserable, and poor, and
blind, and naked:
You say, ‘I am rich; I have grown wealthy and need nothing.’ But you do not
realize that you are
wretched,
pitiful, poor,
blind, and naked.
Heal the broken and the weak,
laugh not a
lame man to
scorn, defend the
maimed, and let the
blind man come into the sight of my clearness.
And blessed him, and said unto him, Thou art the son of an
honest and good man. But when he had heard that
Tobit was
blind, he was sorrowful, and
wept.
Such things they did imagine, and were
deceived: for their own wickedness hath
blinded them.
Therefore even with
blindness were these
stricken, as those were at the doors of the righteous man: when, being compassed about with
horrible great darkness, every one sought the passage of his own doors.
Presents and gifts blind the eyes of the wise, and stop up his mouth that he cannot reprove.
They cannot restore a blind man to his sight, nor help any man in his distress.
And took Maccabeus
betwixt them, and covered him on every side weapons, and kept him safe, but shot arrows and lightnings against the enemies: so that being confounded with
blindness, and full of trouble, they were killed.
