Wherefore I perceive that there is nothing better, than that a man should
rejoice in his own works; for that is his portion: for who shall
bring him to see what shall be after him?
I have seen that there is nothing better for a man than to enjoy his work, because that is his lot. For who can bring him to see what will come after him?
For in the multitude of dreams and many words there are also
divers vanities: but fear thou God.
For as many dreams
bring futility, so do many words. Therefore, fear God.
As dead
flies bring a
stench to the
perfumer’s oil, so a little folly outweighs wisdom and honor.
Rejoice, O young man, in thy youth; and let thy heart
cheer thee in the days of thy youth, and walk in the ways of thine heart, and in the sight of thine eyes: but know thou, that for all these things God will
bring thee into judgment.
Rejoice, O young man, while you are young, and let your heart be
glad in the days of your youth. Walk in the ways of your heart and in the sight of your eyes, but know that for all these things God will
bring you to judgment.
For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.
For God will bring every deed into judgment, along with every hidden thing, whether good or evil.
Draw me, we will run after thee: the king hath brought me into his chambers: we will be
glad and
rejoice in thee, we will remember thy love more than wine: the upright love thee.
Take me away with you—let us
hurry! May the king
bring me to his chambers. We will
rejoice and delight in you; we will praise your love more than wine. It is only right that they
adore you.
I would lead thee, and
bring thee into my mother’s house, who would
instruct me: I would cause thee to drink of
spiced wine of the juice of my
pomegranate.
I would lead you and
bring you to the house of my mother who taught me. I would give you
spiced wine to drink, the
nectar of my pomegranates.
I am a wall, and my breasts like towers: then was I in his eyes as one that found favour.
I am a wall, and my breasts are like towers. So I have become in his eyes like one who brings peace.
Solomon had a
vineyard at
Baal-
hamon; he let out the
vineyard unto keepers; every one for the fruit thereof was to
bring a thousand pieces of silver.
Solomon had a
vineyard in
Baal-
hamon. He
leased it to the tenants. For its fruit, each was to
bring a thousand shekels of silver.
Bring no more vain oblations; incense is an
abomination unto me; the new moons and sabbaths, the calling of
assemblies, I cannot away with; it is iniquity, even the solemn meeting.
Bring your worthless offerings no more; your incense is
detestable to Me— your New Moons, Sabbaths, and convocations. I cannot
endure iniquity in a solemn assembly.
The LORD will enter into judgment with the ancients of his people, and the princes thereof: for ye have eaten up the
vineyard; the
spoil of the poor is in your houses.
The LORD
brings this charge against the elders and leaders of His people: “You have
devoured the
vineyard; the
plunder of the poor is in your houses.
Therefore the LORD will
smite with a
scab the crown of the head of the daughters of
Zion, and the LORD will discover their secret parts.
the Lord will
bring sores on the heads of the daughters of
Zion, and the LORD will make their foreheads bare.”
And he
fenced it, and gathered out the stones thereof, and planted it with the choicest vine, and built a tower in the midst of it, and also made a winepress therein: and he looked that it should
bring forth grapes, and it brought forth wild grapes.
He
dug it up and cleared the stones and planted the finest vines. He built a
watchtower in the middle and
dug out a winepress as well. He waited for the
vineyard to yield good grapes, but the fruit it produced was
sour!
What could have been done more to my
vineyard, that I have not done in it? wherefore, when I looked that it should
bring forth grapes, brought it forth wild grapes?
What more could I have done for My
vineyard than I already did for it? Why, when I expected sweet grapes, did it
bring forth
sour fruit?
The LORD shall bring upon thee, and upon thy people, and upon thy father’s house, days that have not come, from the day that Ephraim departed from Judah; even the king of Assyria.
The LORD will bring on you and on your people and on the house of your father a time unlike any since the day Ephraim separated from Judah—He will bring the king of Assyria.”
Now therefore, behold, the Lord bringeth up upon them the waters of the river, strong and many, even the king of Assyria, and all his glory: and he shall come up over all his channels, and go over all his banks:
the Lord will surely
bring against them the mighty floodwaters of the Euphrates— the king of Assyria and all his
pomp. It will overflow its channels and overrun its banks.
And the people shall take them, and
bring them to their place: and the house of Israel shall possess them in the land of the LORD for servants and handmaids: and they shall take them
captives, whose
captives they were; and they shall rule over their oppressors.
The nations will
escort Israel and
bring it to its homeland. Then the house of Israel will possess the nations as menservants and maidservants in the LORD’s land. They will make
captives of their captors and rule over their oppressors.
For the waters of Dimon shall be full of blood: for I will
bring more upon Dimon, lions upon him that escapeth of Moab, and upon the
remnant of the land.
The waters of Dimon are full of blood, but I will
bring more upon Dimon— a lion upon the fugitives of Moab and upon the
remnant of the land.
And the land of Judah shall be a terror unto Egypt, every one that maketh mention thereof shall be afraid in himself, because of the counsel of the LORD of hosts, which he hath determined against it.
The land of Judah will
bring terror to Egypt; whenever Judah is mentioned, Egypt will
tremble over what the LORD of Hosts has
planned against it.
The inhabitants of the land of Tema brought water to him that was
thirsty, they prevented with their bread him that fled.
Bring water for the
thirsty, O dwellers of Tema; meet the refugees with food.
Be thou
ashamed, O Zidon: for the sea hath spoken, even the strength of the sea, saying, I
travail not, nor
bring forth children, neither do I
nourish up young men, nor
bring up virgins.
Be
ashamed, O
Sidon, the
stronghold of the sea, for the sea has spoken: “I have not been in labor or given birth. I have not raised young men or brought up young women.”
The LORD of hosts hath purposed it, to
stain the pride of all glory, and to
bring into contempt all the honourable of the earth.
The LORD of Hosts
planned it, to
defile all its glorious beauty, to disgrace all the
renowned of the earth.
Thou shalt bring down the noise of strangers, as the heat in a dry place; even the heat with the shadow of a cloud: the branch of the terrible ones shall be brought low.
like heat in a dry land. You
subdue the
uproar of foreigners. As the shade of a cloud cools the heat, so the song of the
ruthless is silenced.
And he shall spread forth his hands in the midst of them, as he that swimmeth spreadeth forth his hands to
swim: and he shall
bring down their pride together with the spoils of their hands.
He will spread out his hands within it, as a
swimmer spreads his arms to
swim. His pride will be brought low,
despite the skill of his hands.
And the fortress of the high fort of thy walls shall he bring down, lay low, and bring to the ground, even to the dust.
The high-walled fortress will be brought down, cast to the ground, into the dust.
For he bringeth down them that dwell on high; the lofty city, he layeth it low; he layeth it low, even to the ground; he bringeth it even to the dust.
For He has humbled those who dwell on high; He lays the lofty city low. He brings it down to the ground; He casts it into the dust.
Thy dead men shall live, together with my dead body shall they arise.
Awake and sing, ye that dwell in dust: for thy
dew is as the
dew of herbs, and the earth shall cast out the dead.
Your dead will live; their bodies will rise.
Awake and sing, you who dwell in the dust! For your
dew is like the
dew of the morning, and the earth will
bring forth her dead.
From the time that it goeth forth it shall take you: for morning by morning shall it pass over, by day and by night: and it shall be a
vexation only to understand the report.
As often as it passes through, it will carry you away; it will
sweep through morning after morning, by day and by night.” The understanding of this message will
bring sheer terror.
For the LORD shall rise up as in mount Perazim, he shall be
wroth as in the valley of
Gibeon, that he may do his work, his strange work; and
bring to pass his act, his strange act.
For the LORD will rise up as at Mount Perazim. He will
rouse Himself as in the Valley of
Gibeon, to do His work, His strange work, and to perform His task, His
disturbing task.
And in every place where the grounded staff shall pass, which the LORD shall lay upon him, it shall be with tabrets and harps: and in battles of
shaking will he fight with it.
And with every stroke of the rod of punishment that the LORD
brings down on them, the tambourines and lyres will sound as He battles with weapons
brandished.
Yet he also is wise, and will bring evil, and will not call back his words: but will arise against the house of the evildoers, and against the help of them that work iniquity.
Yet He too is wise and
brings disaster; He does not call back His words. He will rise up against the house of the wicked and against the allies of evildoers.
Ye shall conceive
chaff, ye shall
bring forth
stubble: your breath, as fire, shall
devour you.
And they said unto him, Thus saith
Hezekiah, This day is a day of trouble, and of
rebuke, and of
blasphemy: for the children are come to the birth, and there is not strength to
bring forth.
to tell him, “This is what
Hezekiah says:
Today is a day of distress,
rebuke, and disgrace; for children have come to the point of birth, but there is no strength to deliver them.
Behold, I will
bring again the shadow of the degrees, which is gone down in the sun
dial of
Ahaz, ten degrees backward. So the sun returned ten degrees, by which degrees it was gone down.
I will make the sun’s shadow that falls on the
stairway of
Ahaz go back ten steps.’” So the
sunlight went back the ten steps it had descended.
O
Zion, that
bringest good
tidings, get thee up into the high mountain; O Jerusalem, that
bringest good
tidings, lift up thy voice with strength; lift it up, be not afraid; say unto the cities of Judah, Behold your God!
Go up on a high mountain, O
Zion,
herald of good news. Raise your voice loudly, O Jerusalem,
herald of good news. Lift it up, do not be afraid! Say to the cities of Judah, “Here is your God!”
That bringeth the princes to nothing; he maketh the judges of the earth as vanity.
He brings the princes to nothing and makes the rulers of the earth meaningless.
Lift up your eyes on high, and behold who hath created these things, that bringeth out their host by number: he calleth them all by names by the greatness of his might, for that he is strong in power; not one faileth.
Lift up your eyes on high: Who created all these? He leads forth the
starry host by number; He calls each one by name. Because of His great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing.
Produce your cause, saith the LORD; bring forth your strong reasons, saith the King of Jacob.
“Present your case,” says the LORD. “Submit your arguments,” says the King of Jacob.
Let them
bring them forth, and
shew us what shall happen: let them
shew the former things, what they be, that we may consider them, and know the latter end of them; or declare us things for to come.
“Let them come and tell us what will happen. Tell the former things, so that we may
reflect on them and know the outcome. Or
announce to us what is coming.
The first shall say to
Zion, Behold, behold them: and I will give to Jerusalem one that
bringeth good
tidings.
I was the first to tell
Zion: ‘Look, here they are!’ And I gave to Jerusalem a
herald of good news.
Behold my servant, whom I
uphold; mine
elect, in whom my soul delighteth; I have put my spirit upon him: he shall
bring forth judgment to the Gentiles.
“Here is My Servant, whom I
uphold, My Chosen One, in whom My soul delights. I will put My Spirit on Him, and He will
bring justice to the nations.
A
bruised reed shall he not break, and the smoking flax shall he not
quench: he shall
bring forth judgment unto truth.
To open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house.
to open the eyes of the blind, to
bring prisoners out of the
dungeon and those sitting in darkness out from the prison house.
And I will
bring the blind by a way that they knew not; I will lead them in paths that they have not known: I will make darkness light before them, and
crooked things straight. These things will I do unto them, and not
forsake them.
I will lead the blind by a way they did not know; I will guide them on unfamiliar paths. I will turn darkness into light before them and rough places into level ground. These things I will do for them, and I will not
forsake them.
Fear not: for I am with thee: I will bring thy seed from the east, and gather thee from the west;
Do not be afraid, for I am with you; I will bring your offspring from the east and gather you from the west.
I will say to the north, Give up; and to the south, Keep not back: bring my sons from far, and my daughters from the ends of the earth;
I will say to the north, ‘Give them up!’ and to the south, ‘Do not hold them back!’
Bring My sons from
afar, and My daughters from the ends of the earth—
Bring forth the blind people that have eyes, and the
deaf that have ears.
Bring out a people who have eyes but are blind, and who have ears but are
deaf.
Let all the nations be gathered together, and let the people be assembled: who among them can declare this, and
shew us former things? let them
bring forth their witnesses, that they may be justified: or let them hear, and say, It is truth.
All the nations gather together and the peoples
assemble. Who among them can declare this, and
proclaim to us the former things? Let them present their witnesses to
vindicate them, so that others may hear and say, “It is true.”
Thus saith the LORD, your
redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; For your sake I have sent to Babylon, and have brought down all their nobles, and the Chaldeans, whose cry is in the ships.
Thus says the LORD your
Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel: “For your sake, I will send to Babylon and
bring them all as fugitives, even the Chaldeans, in the ships in which they
rejoice.
Which
bringeth forth the
chariot and horse, the army and the power; they shall lie down together, they shall not rise: they are extinct, they are
quenched as
tow.
I form the light, and
create darkness: I make peace, and
create evil: I the LORD do all these things.
I form the light and
create the darkness; I
bring prosperity and
create calamity. I, the LORD, do all these things.
Drop down, ye heavens, from above, and let the
skies pour down righteousness: let the earth open, and let them
bring forth salvation, and let righteousness spring up together; I the LORD have created it.
Drip down, O heavens, from above, and let the
skies pour down righteousness. Let the earth open up that salvation may
sprout and righteousness spring up with it; I, the LORD, have created it.
Tell ye, and
bring them near;
yea, let them take counsel together: who hath declared this from ancient time? who hath told it from that time? have not I the LORD? and there is no God else beside me; a just God and a Saviour; there is none beside me.
Speak up and present your case—
yes, let them take counsel together. Who
foretold this long ago? Who
announced it from ancient times? Was it not I, the LORD? There is no other God but Me, a righteous God and
Savior; there is none but Me.
Remember this, and
shew yourselves men:
bring it again to mind, O ye transgressors.
Remember this and be
brave; take it to heart, you transgressors!
Calling a
ravenous bird from the east, the man that executeth my counsel from a far country:
yea, I have spoken it, I will also
bring it to pass; I have purposed it, I will also do it.
I
summon a bird of prey from the east, a man for My purpose from a far-off land. Truly I have spoken, and truly I will
bring it to pass. I have
planned it, and I will surely do it.
I
bring near my righteousness; it shall not be far off, and my salvation shall not
tarry: and I will place salvation in
Zion for Israel my glory.
I am
bringing My righteousness near; it is not far away, and My salvation will not be delayed. I will grant salvation to
Zion and
adorn Israel with My
splendor.
And now, saith the LORD that formed me from the
womb to be his servant, to
bring Jacob again to him, Though Israel be not gathered, yet shall I be glorious in the eyes of the LORD, and my God shall be my strength.
And now says the LORD, who formed Me from the
womb to be His Servant, to
bring Jacob back to Him, that Israel might be gathered to Him— for I am honored in the sight of the LORD, and My God is My strength—
And he said, It is a light thing that thou shouldest be my servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved of Israel: I will also give thee for a light to the Gentiles, that thou mayest be my salvation unto the end of the earth.
He says: “It is not enough for You to be My Servant, to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the protected ones of Israel. I will also make You a light for the nations, to bring My salvation to the ends of the earth.”
Thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I will lift up mine hand to the Gentiles, and set up my standard to the people: and they shall bring thy sons in their arms, and thy daughters shall be carried upon their shoulders.
This is what the Lord GOD says: “Behold, I will lift up My hand to the nations, and raise My
banner to the peoples. They will
bring your sons in their arms and carry your daughters on their shoulders.
Hearken unto me, my people; and give ear unto me, O my nation: for a law shall proceed from me, and I will make my judgment to rest for a light of the people.
Pay attention to Me, My people, and
listen to Me, My nation; for a law will go out from Me, and My justice will become a light to the nations; I will
bring it about quickly.
My righteousness is near; my salvation is gone forth, and mine arms shall judge the people; the isles shall wait upon me, and on mine arm shall they trust.
My righteousness draws near, My salvation is on the way, and My arms will bring justice to the nations. The islands will look for Me and wait in hope for My arm.
How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that
bringeth good
tidings, that publisheth peace; that
bringeth good
tidings of good, that publisheth salvation; that saith unto
Zion, Thy God reigneth!
How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who
bring good news, who
proclaim peace, who
bring good
tidings, who
proclaim salvation, who say to
Zion, “Your God reigns!”
Thy
watchmen shall lift up the voice; with the voice together shall they sing: for they shall see eye to eye, when the LORD shall
bring again
Zion.
Listen! Your
watchmen lift up their voices, together they
shout for joy. For every eye will see when the LORD returns to
Zion.
For a small moment have I
forsaken thee; but with great
mercies will I gather thee.
Behold, I have created the smith that bloweth the coals in the fire, and that bringeth forth an instrument for his work; and I have created the waster to destroy.
Behold, I have created the
craftsman who fans the coals into flame and forges a weapon fit for its task; and I have created the destroyer to
wreak havoc.
For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it
bring forth and
bud, that it may give seed to the
sower, and bread to the eater:
For just as rain and snow fall from heaven and do not return without watering the earth, making it
bud and
sprout, and providing seed to
sow and food to eat,
Even them will I bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer: their burnt offerings and their sacrifices shall be accepted upon mine altar; for mine house shall be called an house of prayer for all people.
I will bring them to My holy mountain and make them joyful in My house of prayer. Their burnt offerings and sacrifices will be accepted on My altar, for My house will be called a house of prayer for all the nations.”
I
create the fruit of the lips; Peace, peace to him that is far off, and to him that is near, saith the LORD; and I will
heal him.
bringing praise to their lips. Peace, peace to those far and near,” says the LORD, “and I will
heal them.”
Is it not to deal thy bread to the
hungry, and that thou
bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? when thou seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not
thyself from thine own flesh?
Isn’t it to share your bread with the
hungry, to
bring the poor and homeless into your home, to
clothe the naked when you see him, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?
None calleth for justice, nor any pleadeth for truth: they trust in vanity, and speak lies; they conceive mischief, and bring forth iniquity.
No one calls for justice; no one pleads his case
honestly. They
rely on empty pleas; they tell lies; they conceive mischief and give birth to iniquity.
The multitude of camels shall cover thee, the
dromedaries of
Midian and
Ephah; all they from
Sheba shall come: they shall
bring gold and incense; and they shall
shew forth the praises of the LORD.
Surely the isles shall wait for me, and the ships of
Tarshish first, to
bring thy sons from far, their silver and their gold with them, unto the name of the LORD thy God, and to the Holy One of Israel, because he hath
glorified thee.
Surely the islands will wait for Me, with the ships of
Tarshish in the lead, to
bring your children from
afar, with their silver and gold, to the honor of the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, for He has
glorified you.
Therefore thy gates shall be open continually; they shall not be shut day nor night; that men may bring unto thee the forces of the Gentiles, and that their kings may be brought.
Your gates will always stand open; they will never be shut, day or night, so that the wealth of the nations may be brought into you, with their kings being led in
procession.
For brass I will bring gold, and for iron I will bring silver, and for wood brass, and for stones iron: I will also make thy officers peace, and thine exactors righteousness.
Instead of bronze I will
bring you gold; I will
bring silver in place of iron, bronze instead of wood, and iron instead of stones. I will
appoint peace as your governor and righteousness as your ruler.
For as the earth
bringeth forth her
bud, and as the garden causeth the things that are sown in it to spring forth; so the Lord GOD will cause righteousness and praise to spring forth before all the nations.
For as the earth brings forth its growth, and as a garden enables seed to spring up, so the Lord GOD will cause righteousness and praise to spring up before all the nations.
And I will
tread down the people in mine anger, and make them
drunk in my
fury, and I will
bring down their strength to the earth.
I
trampled the nations in My anger; in My wrath I made them
drunk and poured out their blood on the ground.”
And I will
bring forth a seed out of Jacob, and out of Judah an
inheritor of my mountains: and mine
elect shall
inherit it, and my servants shall dwell there.
And I will
bring forth descendants from Jacob, and heirs from Judah; My
elect will possess My mountains, and My servants will dwell there.
They shall not labour in vain, nor bring forth for trouble; for they are the seed of the blessed of the LORD, and their offspring with them.
They will not labor in vain or bear children
doomed to
disaster; for they will be a people blessed by the LORD— they and their descendants with them.
I also will choose their delusions, and will bring their fears upon them; because when I called, none did answer; when I spake, they did not hear: but they did evil before mine eyes, and chose that in which I delighted not.
So I will choose their punishment and I will
bring terror upon them, because I called and no one answered, I spoke and no one
listened. But they did evil in My sight and chose that in which I did not delight.”
Who hath heard such a thing? who hath seen such things? Shall the earth be made to
bring forth in one day? or shall a nation be born at once? for as soon as
Zion travailed, she brought forth her children.
Who has heard of such as this? Who has seen such things? Can a country be born in a day or a nation be delivered in an instant? Yet as soon as
Zion was in labor, she gave birth to her children.
Shall I
bring to the birth, and not cause to
bring forth? saith the LORD: shall I cause to
bring forth, and shut the
womb? saith thy God.
Shall I
bring a
baby to the point of birth and not deliver it?” says the LORD. “Or will I who deliver close the
womb?” says your God.
And they shall
bring all your brethren for an offering unto the LORD out of all nations upon horses, and in
chariots, and in litters, and upon mules, and upon swift beasts, to my holy mountain Jerusalem, saith the LORD, as the children of Israel
bring an offering in a clean vessel into the house of the LORD.
And they will
bring all your brothers from all the nations as a gift to the LORD on horses and
chariots and wagons, on mules and camels, to My holy mountain Jerusalem,” says the LORD, “just as the Israelites
bring an offering in a clean vessel to the house of the LORD.”
Wherefore I will yet
plead with you, saith the LORD, and with your children’s children will I
plead.
Therefore, I will
contend with you again, declares the LORD, and I will
bring a case against your children’s children.
Wherefore will ye
plead with me? ye all have
transgressed against me, saith the LORD.
Why do you bring a case against Me? You have all rebelled against Me,” declares the LORD.
Turn, O
backsliding children, saith the LORD; for I am married unto you: and I will take you one of a city, and two of a family, and I will
bring you to
Zion:
“Return, O faithless children,” declares the LORD, “for I am your master, and I will take you—one from a city and two from a family—and
bring you to
Zion.
Set up the standard toward
Zion: retire, stay not: for I will
bring evil from the north, and a great destruction.
Raise a signal flag toward
Zion. Seek refuge! Do not delay! For I am
bringing disaster from the north, and terrible destruction.
For I have heard a voice as of a woman in
travail, and the
anguish as of her that
bringeth forth her first child, the voice of the daughter of
Zion, that bewaileth herself, that spreadeth her hands, saying,
Woe is me now! for my soul is
wearied because of murderers.
For I hear a cry like a woman in labor, a cry of
anguish like one bearing her first child— the cry of the Daughter of
Zion gasping for breath, stretching out her hands to say, “
Woe is me, for my soul
faints before the murderers!”
Lo, I will bring a nation upon you from far, O house of Israel, saith the LORD: it is a mighty nation, it is an ancient nation, a nation whose language thou knowest not, neither understandest what they say.
Behold, I am bringing a distant nation against you, O house of Israel,” declares the LORD. “It is an established nation, an ancient nation, a nation whose language you do not know and whose speech you do not understand.
Hear, O earth: behold, I will
bring evil upon this people, even the fruit of their thoughts, because they have not
hearkened unto my words, nor to my law, but rejected it.
Hear, O earth! I am
bringing disaster on this people, the fruit of their own schemes, because they have paid no attention to My word and have rejected My instruction.
At that time, saith the LORD, they shall bring out the bones of the kings of Judah, and the bones of his princes, and the bones of the priests, and the bones of the prophets, and the bones of the inhabitants of Jerusalem, out of their graves:
“At that time,” declares the LORD, “the bones of the kings of Judah, the bones of the officials, the bones of the priests, the bones of the prophets, and the bones of the people of Jerusalem will be removed from their graves.
When he uttereth his voice, there is a multitude of waters in the heavens, and he causeth the vapors to
ascend from the ends of the earth; he maketh lightnings with rain, and
bringeth forth the wind out of his treasures.
When He thunders, the waters in the heavens
roar; He causes the clouds to rise from the ends of the earth. He generates the
lightning with the rain and
brings forth the wind from His storehouses.
For thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will
sling out the inhabitants of the land at this once, and will distress them, that they may find it so.
For this is what the LORD says: “Behold, at this time I will
sling out the inhabitants of the land and
bring distress upon them so that they may be captured.”
O LORD, correct me, but with judgment; not in thine anger, lest thou bring me to nothing.
Correct me, O LORD, but only with justice— not in Your anger, or You will bring me to nothing.
Yet they obeyed not, nor inclined their ear, but walked every one in the imagination of their evil heart: therefore I will bring upon them all the words of this covenant, which I commanded them to do; but they did them not.
Yet they would not obey or
incline their ears, but each one followed the
stubbornness of his evil heart. So I brought on them all the curses of this covenant I had commanded them to follow but they did not keep.”
Therefore thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will
bring evil upon them, which they shall not be able to escape; and though they shall cry unto me, I will not
hearken unto them.
Therefore this is what the LORD says: ‘I am about to
bring upon them a
disaster that they cannot escape. They will cry out to Me, but I will not
listen to them.
And there shall be no
remnant of them: for I will
bring evil upon the men of Anathoth, even the year of their
visitation.
There will be no
remnant, for I will
bring disaster on the people of Anathoth in the year of their punishment.”
Thou hast planted them,
yea, they have taken root: they grow,
yea, they
bring forth fruit: thou art near in their mouth, and far from their
reins.
You planted them, and they have taken root. They have grown and produced fruit. You are ever on their lips, but far from their hearts.
Is not My inheritance to Me like a
speckled bird of prey with other birds of prey circling against her? Go, gather all the beasts of the field;
bring them to
devour her.
And it shall come to pass, after that I have
plucked them out I will return, and have
compassion on them, and will
bring them again, every man to his
heritage, and every man to his land.
But after I have uprooted them, I will once again have
compassion on them and return each one to his inheritance and to his land.
