If a man walking in the spirit and
falsehood do lie, saying, I will
prophesy unto thee of wine and of strong
drink; he shall even be the prophet of this people.
If a man of wind were to come and say falsely, “I will
preach to you of wine and strong
drink,” he would be just the preacher for this people!
Thou shalt
sow, but thou shalt not
reap; thou shalt
tread the olives, but thou shalt not
anoint thee with oil; and sweet wine, but shalt not
drink wine.
For while they be folden together as thorns, and while they are
drunken as drunkards, they shall be
devoured as
stubble fully dry.
Woe unto him that giveth his neighbour
drink, that puttest thy
bottle to him, and makest him
drunken also, that thou mayest look on their nakedness!
Woe to him who gives
drink to his neighbors, pouring it from the wineskin until they are
drunk, in order to
gaze at their nakedness!
Thou art filled with shame for glory:
drink thou also, and let thy
foreskin be uncovered: the cup of the LORD’S right hand shall be turned unto thee, and shameful
spewing shall be on thy glory.
You will be filled with shame instead of glory. You too must
drink and
expose your
uncircumcision! The cup in the LORD’s right hand will come around to you, and utter disgrace will cover your glory.
Therefore their goods shall become a
booty, and their houses a
desolation: they shall also build houses, but not inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, but not
drink the wine thereof.
Their wealth will be
plundered and their houses laid waste. They will build houses but not inhabit them, and plant vineyards but never
drink their wine.
Ye have sown much, and bring in little; ye eat, but ye have not enough; ye
drink, but ye are not filled with
drink; ye
clothe you, but there is none warm; and he that earneth wages earneth wages to put it into a
bag with holes.
You have planted much but harvested little. You eat but never have enough. You
drink but never have your fill. You put on clothes but never get warm. You
earn wages to put into a
bag pierced through.”
And when ye did eat, and when ye did
drink, did not ye eat for
yourselves, and
drink for
yourselves?
And when you were eating and
drinking, were you not doing so simply for
yourselves?
The LORD of hosts shall defend them; and they shall
devour, and
subdue with
sling stones; and they shall
drink, and make a noise as through wine; and they shall be filled like
bowls, and as the corners of the altar.
The LORD of Hosts will shield them. They will destroy and
conquer with slingstones; they will
drink and
roar as with wine. And they will be filled like
sprinkling bowls,
drenched like the corners of the altar.
Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall
drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than
raiment?
Therefore I tell you, do not
worry about your life, what you will eat or
drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?
Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we
drink? or,
Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
Therefore do not
worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we
drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’
And
whosoever shall give to
drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple,
verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.
And if
anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones because he is My disciple, truly I tell you, he will never lose his reward.”
For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, He hath a devil.
For John came neither eating nor
drinking, and they say, ‘He has a
demon!’
The Son of man came eating and
drinking, and they say, Behold a man
gluttonous, and a
winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners. But wisdom is justified of her children.
The Son of Man came eating and
drinking, and they say, ‘Look at this
glutton and
drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’ But wisdom is
vindicated by her actions.”
But Jesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to
drink of the cup that I shall
drink of, and to be
baptized with the baptism that I am
baptized with? They say unto him, We are able.
“You do not know what you are asking,” Jesus replied. “Can you drink the cup I am going to drink?” “We can,” the brothers answered.
And he saith unto them, Ye shall
drink indeed of my cup, and be
baptized with the baptism that I am
baptized with: but to sit on my right hand, and on my left, is not mine to give, but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared of my Father.
“You will indeed drink My cup,” Jesus said. “But to sit at My right or left is not Mine to grant. These seats belong to those for whom My Father has prepared them.”
For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,

Noah entered the ark.

smite his fellowservants, and to eat and
drink with the
drunken;
And he begins to beat his fellow servants and to eat and drink with drunkards.
For I was an
hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was
thirsty, and ye gave me
drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in:
For I was
hungry and you gave Me something to eat, I was
thirsty and you gave Me something to
drink, I was a stranger and you took Me in,
Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an
hungred, and fed thee? or
thirsty, and gave thee
drink?
Then the righteous will answer Him, ‘Lord, when did we see You
hungry and feed You, or
thirsty and give You something to
drink?
For I was an
hungred, and ye gave me no meat: I was
thirsty, and ye gave me no
drink:
For I was
hungry and you gave Me nothing to eat, I was
thirsty and you gave Me nothing to
drink,
And he took the cup, and gave
thanks, and gave it to them, saying,
Drink ye all of it;
Then He took the cup, gave
thanks, and gave it to them, saying, “
Drink from it, all of you.
But I say unto you, I will not drink henceforth of this fruit of the vine, until that day when I drink it new with you in my Father’s kingdom.
I tell you, I will not
drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I
drink it
anew with you in My Father’s kingdom.”
He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done.

drink.
And when the
scribes and
Pharisees saw him eat with publicans and sinners, they said unto his disciples, How is it that he eateth and
drinketh with publicans and sinners?
When the
scribes who were
Pharisees saw Jesus eating with these people, they asked His disciples, “Why does He eat with tax collectors and sinners?”
For
whosoever shall give you a cup of water to
drink in my name, because ye belong to Christ,
verily I say unto you, he shall not lose his reward.
Indeed, if
anyone gives you even a cup of water because you bear the name of Christ, truly I tell you, he will never lose his reward.
But Jesus said unto them, Ye know not what ye ask: can ye
drink of the cup that I
drink of? and be
baptized with the baptism that I am
baptized with?
“You do not know what you are asking,” Jesus replied. “Can you
drink the cup I will
drink, or be
baptized with the baptism I will undergo?”
And they said unto him, We can. And Jesus said unto them, Ye shall indeed
drink of the cup that I
drink of; and with the baptism that I am
baptized withal shall ye be
baptized:
“We can,” the brothers answered. “You will
drink the cup that I
drink,” Jesus said, “and you will be
baptized with the baptism that I undergo.
Verily I say unto you, I will
drink no more of the fruit of the vine, until that day that I
drink it new in the kingdom of God.

drink of the fruit of the vine until that day when I
drink it
anew in the kingdom of God.”

And one ran and filled a
spunge full of
vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him to
drink, saying, Let alone; let us see whether Elias will come to take him down.
And someone ran and filled a
sponge with
sour wine. He put it on a reed and held it up for Jesus to
drink, saying, “Leave Him alone. Let us see if
Elijah comes to take Him down.”
They shall take up serpents; and if they
drink any deadly thing, it shall not
hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
they will
pick up snakes with their hands, and if they
drink any deadly poison, it will not
harm them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will be made well.”
For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall
drink neither wine nor strong
drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother’s
womb.
for he will be great in the sight of the Lord. He shall never take wine or strong
drink, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit even from his mother’s
womb.
But their
scribes and
Pharisees murmured against his disciples, saying, Why do ye eat and
drink with publicans and sinners?
And they said unto him, Why do the disciples of John fast often, and make prayers, and likewise the disciples of the
Pharisees; but thine eat and
drink?
Then they said to Him, “John’s disciples and those of the
Pharisees frequently fast and pray, but Yours keep on eating and
drinking.”
No man also having
drunk old wine
straightway desireth new: for he saith, The old is better.
And no one after drinking old wine wants new, for he says, ‘The old is better.’”
For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine; and ye say, He hath a devil.
For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor
drinking wine, and you say, ‘He has a
demon!’
The Son of man is come eating and
drinking; and ye say, Behold a
gluttonous man, and a
winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners!
The Son of Man came eating and
drinking, and you say, ‘Look at this
glutton and
drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’
And in the same house remain, eating and
drinking such things as they give: for the labourer is worthy of his
hire. Go not from house to house.
Stay at the same house, eating and drinking whatever you are offered. For the worker is worthy of his wages. Do not move around from house to house.
And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat,
drink, and be
merry.
Then I will say to myself, “You have
plenty of good things laid up for many years. Take it easy. Eat,
drink, and be
merry!”’
And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind.
And do not be concerned about what you will eat or
drink. Do not
worry about it.
But and if that servant say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; and shall begin to beat the menservants and maidens, and to eat and
drink, and to be
drunken;
But suppose that servant says in his heart, ‘My master will be a long time in coming,’ and he begins to beat the menservants and maidservants, and to eat and
drink and get
drunk.
And will not rather say unto him, Make ready
wherewith I may
sup, and
gird thyself, and serve me, till I have eaten and
drunken; and afterward thou shalt eat and
drink?
Instead, won’t he tell him, ‘Prepare my meal and dress
yourself to serve me while I eat and
drink; and afterward you may eat and
drink’?
They did eat, they
drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.
People were eating and
drinking, marrying and being given in marriage, up to the day
Noah entered the ark. Then the flood came and destroyed them all.
Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they
drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded;
It was the same in the days of Lot: People were eating and
drinking,
buying and selling, planting and building.
For I say unto you, I will not drink of the fruit of the vine, until the kingdom of God shall come.
For I tell you that I will not drink of the fruit of the vine from now on until the kingdom of God comes.”
That ye may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom, and sit on thrones judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
so that you may eat and drink at My table in My kingdom, and sit on thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink.
When a
Samaritan woman came to draw water, Jesus said to her, “Give Me a
drink.”
Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a
Jew, askest
drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the
Samaritans.
“You are a
Jew,” said the woman. “How can You ask for a
drink from me, a
Samaritan woman?” (For Jews do not associate with
Samaritans.)
Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.
Jesus answered, “If you knew the gift of God and who is asking you for a drink, you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.”
Jesus answered and said unto her,
Whosoever drinketh of this water shall
thirst again:
But
whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never
thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into
everlasting life.
But
whoever drinks the water I give him will never
thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a
fount of water springing up to eternal life.”
Then Jesus said unto them,
Verily,
verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and
drink his blood, ye have no life in you.
So Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I tell you, unless you eat the flesh and drink the blood of the Son of Man, you have no life in you.
Whoso eateth my flesh, and
drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.
Whoever eats My flesh and
drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.
For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.
For My flesh is real food, and My blood is real drink.
He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him.
Whoever eats My flesh and
drinks My blood remains in Me, and I in him.
In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and
cried, saying, If any man
thirst, let him come unto me, and
drink.
On the last and greatest day of the feast, Jesus stood up and called out in a loud voice, “If
anyone is
thirsty, let him come to Me and
drink.
Then said Jesus unto Peter, Put up thy sword into the
sheath: the cup which my Father hath given me, shall I not
drink it?
“Put your sword back in its
sheath!” Jesus said to Peter. “Shall I not

And he was three days without sight, and neither did eat nor drink.
For three days he was without sight, and he did not eat or drink anything.
Not to all the people, but unto witnesses chosen before of God, even to us, who did eat and drink with him after he rose from the dead.
not by all the people, but by the witnesses God had chosen
beforehand, by us who
ate and
drank with Him after He rose from the dead.
And when it was day, certain of the Jews banded together, and bound themselves under a
curse, saying that they would neither eat nor
drink till they had killed Paul.
When
daylight came, the Jews formed a
conspiracy and bound themselves with an oath not to eat or
drink until they had killed Paul.
But do not thou yield unto them: for there lie in wait for him of them more than forty men, which have bound themselves with an oath, that they will neither eat nor drink till they have killed him: and now are they ready, looking for a promise from thee.
Do not let them
persuade you, because more than forty men are waiting to
ambush him. They have bound themselves with an oath not to eat or
drink until they have killed him; they are ready now,
awaiting your consent.”
Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he
thirst, give him
drink: for in so doing thou shalt
heap coals of fire on his head.
On the contrary, “If your enemy is
hungry, feed him; if he is
thirsty, give him a
drink. For in so doing, you will
heap burning coals on his head.”
For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.
For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit.
It is good neither to eat flesh, nor to
drink wine, nor any thing whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is
offended, or is made weak.
It is better not to eat meat or
drink wine or to do anything to cause your brother to
stumble.
Have we not power to eat and to drink?
Have we no right to food and to drink?
Who goeth a warfare any time at his own charges? who planteth a
vineyard, and eateth not of the fruit thereof? or who feedeth a flock, and eateth not of the milk of the flock?
Who serves as a soldier at his own expense? Who plants a
vineyard and does not eat of its fruit? Who tends a flock and does not
drink of its milk?
And did all
drink the same spiritual
drink: for they
drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.
and
drank the same spiritual
drink; for they
drank from the spiritual rock that accompanied them, and that rock was Christ.
Neither be ye idolaters, as were some of them; as it is written, The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.
Do not be idolaters, as some of them were. As it is written: “The people sat down to eat and to
drink, and got up to
indulge in
revelry.”
Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord’s table, and of the table of devils.
You cannot
drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons too; you cannot
partake in the table of the Lord and the table of demons too.
Whether therefore ye eat, or
drink, or
whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.
So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all to the glory of God.
What? have ye not houses to eat and to
drink in? or
despise ye the church of God, and shame them that have not? What shall I say to you? shall I praise you in this? I praise you not.
Don’t you have your own homes in which to eat and
drink? Or do you
despise the church of God and
humiliate those who have nothing? What can I say to you? Shall I praise you for this? No, I will not!
After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had
supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as
oft as ye
drink it, in
remembrance of me.
In the same way, after
supper He took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood; do this, as often as you
drink it, in
remembrance of Me.”
For as often as ye eat this bread, and
drink this cup, ye do
shew the Lord’s death till he come.
For as often as you eat this bread and
drink this cup, you
proclaim the Lord’s death until He comes.
Wherefore
whosoever shall eat this bread, and
drink this cup of the Lord,
unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.
Therefore,
whoever eats the bread or
drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of
sinning against the body and blood of the Lord.
But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.
Each one must examine himself before he eats of the bread and drinks of the cup.
For
anyone who eats and
drinks without recognizing the body eats and
drinks judgment on himself.
For by one Spirit are we all
baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to
drink into one Spirit.
For in one Spirit we were all
baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, slave or free, and we were all given one Spirit to
drink.
If after the manner of men I have fought with beasts at Ephesus, what advantageth it me, if the dead rise not? let us eat and
drink; for to
morrow we die.
If I fought wild beasts in Ephesus for human motives, what did I gain? If the dead are not raised, “Let us eat and
drink, for
tomorrow we die.”
Yea, and if I be offered upon the sacrifice and service of your faith, I joy, and
rejoice with you all.
But even if I am being poured out like a
drink offering on the sacrifice and service of your faith, I am
glad and
rejoice with all of you.
Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in
drink, or in respect of an
holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:
Therefore let no one judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a feast, a New Moon, or a Sabbath.
Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach’s sake and thine often
infirmities.
Stop drinking only water and use a little wine instead, because of your stomach and your frequent ailments.
For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand.
For I am already being poured out like a drink offering, and the time of my departure is at hand.
For the earth which
drinketh in the rain that cometh
oft upon it, and bringeth forth herbs meet for them by whom it is dressed, receiveth blessing from God:
For land that drinks in the rain often falling on it and that produces a crop useful to those for whom it is tended receives the blessing of God.
Which stood only in meats and
drinks, and
divers washings, and
carnal ordinances, imposed on them until the time of reformation.
They consist only in food and drink and special washings—external regulations imposed until the time of reform.
And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen, that great city, because she made all nations
drink of the wine of the wrath of her
fornication.
Then a second angel followed, saying, “Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great, who has made all the nations drink the wine of the passion of her immorality.”
The same shall
drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his
indignation; and he shall be
tormented with fire and
brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:
he too will
drink the wine of God’s anger, poured undiluted into the cup of His wrath. And he will be
tormented in fire and sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and of the Lamb.
For they have shed the blood of saints and prophets, and thou hast given them blood to drink; for they are worthy.
For they have
spilled the blood of saints and prophets, and You have given them blood to
drink, as they deserve.”
And the Spirit and the
bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is
athirst come. And
whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.
The Spirit and the
bride say, “Come!” Let the one who hears say, “Come!” And let the one who is
thirsty come, and the one who desires the water of life
drink freely.
As, to be clothed in purple, to
drink in gold, and to sleep upon gold, and a
chariot with bridles of gold, and an
headtire of fine linen, and a chain about his neck:
And he said thus, O ye men, how exceeding strong is wine! it causeth all men to
err that
drink it:
So all his people and his armies obey him:
furthermore he lieth down, he eateth and
drinketh, and taketh his rest:
And they gave unto the masons and carpenters money, meat, and
drink, with
cheerfulness.
And remained there, and did eat no meat nor
drink water,
mourning for the great
iniquities of the multitude.
Go then, and eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send part to them that have nothing;
Then went they their way, every one to eat and
drink, and make
merry, and to give part to them that had nothing, and to make great
cheer;
But go into a field of flowers, where no house is builded, and eat only the flowers of the field; taste no flesh, drink no wine, but eat flowers only;)
And, lo, it is a custom, when the ground hath received seed, or the sea a ship, or any vessel meat or drink, that, that being perished wherein it was sown or cast into,
