drink no wine nor strong

drink wine or strong

reap, and go thou after them: have I not charged the young men that they shall not touch thee? and when thou art
athirst, go unto the vessels, and
drink of that which the young men have drawn.

drink from the jars the young men have filled.”

Uriah answered, “The ark and Israel and Judah are dwelling in tents, and my master

I am this day
fourscore years old: and can I
discern between good and evil? can thy servant taste what I eat or what I
drink? can I hear any more the voice of singing men and singing women? wherefore then should thy servant be yet a burden unto my lord the king?
I am now eighty years old. Can I
discern what is good and what is not? Can your servant taste what he eats or
drinks? Can I still hear the voice of singing men and women? Why should your servant be an added burden to my lord the king?

For this is what I was commanded by the word of the LORD: ‘You must not eat bread or drink water or return by the way you came.’”
And he said, I may not return with thee, nor go in with thee: neither will I eat bread nor drink water with thee in this place:
But the man replied, “I cannot return with you or eat bread or drink water with you in this place.
For it was said to me by the word of the LORD, Thou shalt eat no bread nor drink water there, nor turn again to go by the way that thou camest.
For I have been told by the word of the LORD: ‘You must not eat bread or drink water there or return by the way you came.’”
He said unto him, I am a prophet also as thou art; and an angel spake unto me by the word of the LORD, saying, Bring him back with thee into thine house, that he may eat bread and
drink water. But he
lied unto him.
Then the prophet replied, “I too am a prophet like you, and an angel spoke to me by the word of the LORD, saying, ‘Bring him back with you to your house, so that he may eat bread and drink water.’” The old prophet was lying to him,

drunk water in the place, of the which the LORD did say to thee, Eat no bread, and
drink no water; thy
carcase shall not come unto the
sepulchre of thy fathers.

yourselves in
array. And they set themselves in
array against the city.

hadad received this message while he and the kings were
drinking in their tents, and he said to his servants, “Take your positions.” So they stationed themselves against the city.
And they went out at
noon. But Ben-

drunk in the pavilions, he and the kings, the thirty and two kings that helped him.

noon while Ben-
hadad and the 32 kings allied with him were in their tents getting

hid it.

drink offerings; and
sprinkle upon it all the blood of the burnt offering, and all the blood of the sacrifice: and the
brasen altar shall be for me to
enquire by.
Then King
Ahaz commanded Uriah the priest, “Offer on the great altar the morning burnt offering, the evening grain offering, and the king’s burnt offering and grain offering, as well as the burnt offerings, grain offerings, and
drink offerings of all the people of the land.
Sprinkle on the altar all the blood of the burnt offerings and sacrifices. But I will use the bronze altar to seek guidance.”
But
Rab-shakeh said unto them, Hath my master sent me to thy master, and to thee, to speak these words? hath he not sent me to the men which sit on the wall, that they may eat their own dung, and
drink their own
piss with you.
But the
Rabshakeh replied, “Has my master sent me to speak these words only to you and your master, and not to the men sitting on the wall, who are destined with you to eat their own dung and
drink their own
urine?”
Hearken not to
Hezekiah: for thus saith the king of Assyria, Make an agreement with me by a present, and come out to me, and then eat ye every man of his own vine, and every one of his fig tree, and
drink ye every one the waters of his
cistern:
Do not
listen to
Hezekiah, for this is what the king of Assyria says: Make peace with me and come out to me. Then every one of you will eat from his own vine and his own fig tree, and
drink water from his own
cistern,

And the three
brake through the host of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of
Bethlehem, that was by the gate, and took it, and brought it to David: but David would not
drink of it, but poured it out to the LORD,
So the Three broke through the
Philistine camp, drew water from the well at the gate of
Bethlehem, and brought it back to David. But he refused to
drink it; instead, he poured it out to the LORD,
And said, My God
forbid it me, that I should do this thing: shall I
drink the blood of these men that have put their lives in
jeopardy? for with the
jeopardy of their lives they brought it. Therefore he would not
drink it. These things did these three mightiest.
saying, “Far be it from me, my God, to do this! How can I drink the blood of these men who risked their lives?” Because they had brought it at the risk of their lives, David refused to drink it. Such were the exploits of the three mighty men.

drink before the LORD on that day with great

drank with great joy in the presence of the LORD. Then, for a second time, they designated David’s son Solomon as king,
anointing him before the LORD as ruler, and

And all the
drinking vessels of king Solomon were of gold, and all the vessels of the house of the forest of

Lebanon were pure gold. There was no silver, because it was accounted as nothing in the days of Solomon.
And the men which were expressed by name rose up, and took the
captives, and with the
spoil clothed all that were naked among them, and
arrayed them, and
shod them, and gave them to eat and to
drink, and
anointed them, and carried all the feeble of them upon
asses, and brought them to
Jericho, the city of palm trees, to their brethren: then they returned to Samaria.
Then the men who were designated by name arose, took charge of the
captives, and provided from the
plunder clothing for the naked. They clothed them, gave them
sandals and food and
drink,
anointed their wounds, and put all the feeble on
donkeys. So they brought them to
Jericho, the City of Palms, to their brothers. Then they returned to Samaria.
And also the burnt offerings were in abundance, with the fat of the peace offerings, and the drink offerings for every burnt offering. So the service of the house of the LORD was set in order.

They gave money to the masons and carpenters, and food and
drink and oil to the people of

That thou mayest
buy speedily with this money bullocks, rams, lambs, with their meat offerings and their
drink offerings, and offer them upon the altar of the house of your God which is in Jerusalem.
With this money, therefore, you are to
buy as many bulls, rams, and lambs as needed, together with their grain offerings and
drink offerings, and offer them on the altar at the house of your God in Jerusalem.
Then
Ezra rose up from before the house of God, and went into the chamber of Johanan the son of Eliashib: and when he came thither, he did eat no bread, nor
drink water: for he
mourned because of the
transgression of them that had been carried away.
Then
Ezra withdrew from before the house of God and walked to the chamber of Jehohanan son of Eliashib. And while he stayed there, he
ate no food and
drank no water, because he was
mourning over the unfaithfulness of the exiles.
Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and
drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our Lord: neither be ye
sorry; for the joy of the LORD is your strength.
Then
Nehemiah told them, “Go and eat what is rich,
drink what is sweet, and send out portions to those who have nothing prepared, since
today is holy to our Lord. Do not
grieve, for the joy of the LORD is your strength.”
And all the people went their way to eat, and to
drink, and to send portions, and to make great
mirth, because they had understood the words that were declared unto them.
Then all the people began to eat and
drink, to send out portions, and to
rejoice greatly, because they understood the words that had been made known to them.
And they gave them
drink in vessels of gold, (the vessels being
diverse one from another,) and royal wine in abundance, according to the state of the king.
Beverages were served in an
array of goblets of gold, each with a different design, and the royal wine flowed freely, according to the king’s
bounty.
And the
drinking was according to the law; none did
compel: for so the king had appointed to all the officers of his house, that they should do according to every man’s pleasure.
By order of the king, no limit was placed on the drinking, and every official of his household was to serve each man whatever he desired.
The posts went out, being
hastened by the king’s commandment, and the decree was given in
Shushan the palace. And the king and
Haman sat down to
drink; but the city
Shushan was
perplexed.
The couriers left,
spurred on by the king’s command, and the edict was issued in the citadel of
Susa. Then the king and
Haman sat down to
drink, but the city of
Susa was in confusion.
Go, gather together all the Jews that are present in
Shushan, and fast ye for me, and neither eat nor
drink three days, night or day: I also and my maidens will fast likewise; and so will I go in unto the king, which is not according to the law: and if I perish, I perish.
“Go and
assemble all the Jews who can be found in
Susa, and fast for me. Do not eat or
drink for three days, night or day, and I and my maidens will fast as you do. After that, I will go to the king, even though it is against the law. And if I perish, I perish!”
And the king arising from the
banquet of wine in his wrath went into the palace garden: and
Haman stood up to make request for his life to
Esther the queen; for he saw that there was evil determined against him by the king.
In his
fury, the king arose from
drinking his wine and went to the palace garden, while
Haman stayed behind to
beg Queen
Esther for his life, for he realized that the king was
planning a terrible fate for him.
And his sons went and feasted in their houses, every one his day; and sent and called for their three sisters to eat and to drink with them.

invite their three sisters to eat and
drink with them.
And there was a day when his sons and his daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother’s house:
One day, while Job’s sons and daughters were eating and drinking wine in their oldest brother’s house,
While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, Thy sons and thy daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother’s house:
While he was still speaking, another
messenger came and reported: “Your sons and daughters were eating and
drinking wine in their oldest brother’s house,
For the arrows of the
Almighty are within me, the poison
whereof drinketh up my spirit: the terrors of God do set themselves in
array against me.
For the arrows of the
Almighty have pierced me; my spirit
drinks in their poison; the terrors of God are
arrayed against me.
how much less man, who is
vile and corrupt, who
drinks injustice like water?
His eyes shall see his destruction, and he shall
drink of the wrath of the
Almighty.
Let his eyes see his own destruction; let him
drink for himself the wrath of the
Almighty.
What man is like Job, who
drinketh up
scorning like water?
What man is like Job, who
drinks up
derision like water?
Behold, he drinketh up a river, and hasteth not: he trusteth that he can draw up Jordan into his mouth.
Though the river rages,
Behemoth is unafraid; he remains secure, though the Jordan surges to his mouth.
Their sorrows shall be multiplied that
hasten after another god: their
drink offerings of blood will I not offer, nor take up their names into my lips.
Sorrows will multiply to those who
chase other gods. I will not pour out their libations of blood, or speak their names with my lips.
They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of thy house; and thou shalt make them drink of the river of thy pleasures.
They feast on the abundance of Your house, and You give them drink from Your river of delights.
Will I eat the flesh of bulls, or drink the blood of goats?
Do I eat the flesh of bulls, or drink the blood of goats?
Thou hast shewed thy people hard things: thou hast made us to
drink the wine of
astonishment.
You have shown Your people
hardship; we are
staggered from the wine You made us
drink.
They gave me also gall for my meat; and in my
thirst they gave me
vinegar to
drink.
Therefore his people return
hither: and waters of a full cup are
wrung out to them.
So their people return to this place and drink up waters in abundance.
For in the hand of the LORD there is a cup, and the wine is red; it is full of mixture; and he poureth out of the same: but the
dregs thereof, all the wicked of the earth shall
wring them out, and
drink them.
For a cup is in the hand of the LORD, full of
foaming wine mixed with spices. He pours from His cup, and all the wicked of the earth
drink it down to the
dregs.
He
clave the rocks in the wilderness, and gave them
drink as out of the great depths.
He split the rocks in the wilderness and gave them drink as abundant as the seas.
And had turned their rivers into blood; and their floods, that they could not drink.
He turned their rivers to blood, and from their streams they could not drink.
Thou feedest them with the bread of tears; and givest them tears to drink in great measure.
You fed them with the bread of tears and made them drink the full measure of their tears.
For I have eaten ashes like bread, and mingled my
drink with
weeping,
For I have eaten ashes like bread and mixed my drink with tears
He shall
drink of the
brook in the way: therefore shall he lift up the head.
He will
drink from the
brook by the road; therefore He will lift up His head.
For they eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of violence.
For they eat the bread of wickedness and drink the wine of violence.
Drink waters out of thine own

Drink water from your own
cistern, and running water from your own well.
Come, eat of my bread, and drink of the wine which I have mingled.
“Come, eat my bread and drink the wine I have mixed.
For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee.
for he is keeping
track, inwardly counting the cost. “Eat and

Be not among winebibbers; among
riotous eaters of flesh:
Do not join those who
drink too much wine or

Those who
linger over wine, who go to taste mixed
drinks.
They have
stricken me, shalt thou say, and I was not sick; they have beaten me, and I felt it not: when shall I
awake? I will seek it yet again.
“They struck me, but I feel no pain! They beat me, but I did not know it! When can I
wake up to search for another
drink?”
