Berean Standard Bible BSB Bible
And he shall pass over to his strong hold for fear, and his princes shall be afraid of the
ensign, saith the LORD, whose
fire is in
Zion, and his furnace in Jerusalem.
Their rock will pass away for fear, and their princes will
panic at the sight of the battle standard,” declares the LORD, whose
fire is in
Zion, whose furnace is in Jerusalem.
Ye shall conceive
chaff, ye shall bring forth
stubble: your breath, as
fire, shall
devour you.
And the people shall be as the burnings of lime: as thorns cut up shall they be burned in the fire.
The peoples will be burned to ashes, like thorns cut down and set
ablaze.
The sinners in
Zion are afraid;
fearfulness hath surprised the hypocrites. Who among us shall dwell with the
devouring fire? who among us shall dwell with
everlasting burnings?
And have cast their gods into the fire: for they were no gods, but the work of men’s hands, wood and stone: therefore they have destroyed them.
They have cast their gods into the fire and destroyed them, for they were not gods, but only wood and stone—the work of human hands.
By thy servants hast thou reproached the Lord, and hast said, By the multitude of my
chariots am I come up to the height of the mountains, to the sides of
Lebanon; and I will cut down the tall cedars thereof, and the choice
fir trees thereof: and I will enter into the height of his border, and the forest of his
Carmel.
Through your servants you have
taunted the Lord, and you have said: “With my many
chariots I have ascended to the heights of the mountains, to the remote peaks of
Lebanon. I have cut down its tallest cedars, the finest of its
cypresses. I have reached its
farthest heights, the densest of its forests.
Who hath wrought and done it, calling the generations from the beginning? I the LORD, the first, and with the last; I am he.
Who has performed this and carried it out, calling forth the generations from the beginning? I, the LORD—the first and the last— I am He.”
I will plant in the wilderness the
cedar, the
shittah tree, and the
myrtle, and the oil tree; I will set in the desert the
fir tree, and the pine, and the box tree together:
I will plant cedars in the wilderness,
acacias, myrtles, and olive trees. I will set
cypresses in the desert, elms and
boxwood together,
The
first shall say to
Zion, Behold, behold them: and I will give to Jerusalem one that bringeth good
tidings.
I was the
first to tell
Zion: ‘Look, here they are!’ And I gave to Jerusalem a
herald of good news.
Therefore he hath poured upon him the
fury of his anger, and the strength of battle: and it hath set him on
fire round about, yet he knew not; and it burned him, yet he laid it not to heart.
So He poured out on them His
furious anger and the fierceness of battle. It
enveloped them in flames, but they did not understand; it consumed them, but they did not take it to heart.
When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the
fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame
kindle upon thee.
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you go through the rivers, they will not
overwhelm you. When you walk through the
fire, you will not be
scorched; the flames will not set you
ablaze.
Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his
redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the
first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.
Thus says the LORD, the King and
Redeemer of Israel, the LORD of Hosts: “I am the
first and I am the last, and there is no God but Me.
Then shall it be for a man to burn: for he will take thereof, and warm himself;
yea, he kindleth it, and baketh bread;
yea, he maketh a god, and worshippeth it; he maketh it a
graven image, and falleth down
thereto.
It serves as fuel for man. He takes some of it to warm himself, and he kindles a
fire and bakes his bread; he even fashions it into a god and worships it; he makes an
idol and bows down to it.
He burneth part thereof in the
fire; with part thereof he eateth flesh; he roasteth
roast, and is satisfied:
yea, he warmeth himself, and saith,
Aha, I am warm, I have seen the
fire:
He burns half of it in the
fire, and he roasts meat on that half. He eats the
roast and is satisfied. Indeed, he warms himself and says, “
Ah! I am warm; I see the
fire.”
And none considereth in his heart, neither is there knowledge nor understanding to say, I have burned part of it in the
fire;
yea, also I have
baked bread upon the coals thereof; I have
roasted flesh, and eaten it: and shall I make the residue thereof an
abomination? shall I fall down to the stock of a tree?
And no one considers in his heart, no one has the knowledge or insight to say, “I burned half of it in the
fire, and I
baked bread on its coals; I
roasted meat and I
ate. Shall I make something
detestable with the rest of it? Shall I bow down to a block of wood?”
Behold, they shall be as
stubble; the
fire shall burn them; they shall not deliver themselves from the power of the flame: there shall not be a coal to warm at, nor
fire to sit before it.
Surely they are like
stubble; the
fire will burn them up. They cannot deliver themselves from the power of the flame. There will be no coals to warm them or
fire to sit beside.
Hearken unto me, O Jacob and Israel, my called; I am he; I am the
first, I also am the last.
Listen to Me, O Jacob, and Israel, whom I have called: I am He; I am the
first, and I am the last.
Behold, all ye that
kindle a
fire, that compass
yourselves about with sparks: walk in the light of your
fire, and in the sparks that ye have
kindled. This shall ye have of mine hand; ye shall lie down in sorrow.
Behold, all you who
kindle a
fire, who
array yourselves with
firebrands, walk in the light of your
fire and of the
firebrands you have
lit! This is what you will receive from My hand: You will lie down in a place of
torment.
For thus saith the Lord GOD, My people went down
aforetime into Egypt to
sojourn there; and the Assyrian
oppressed them without cause.
For this is what the Lord GOD says: “At
first My people went down to Egypt to live, then Assyria
oppressed them without cause.
Behold, I have created the smith that bloweth the coals in the fire, and that bringeth forth an instrument for his work; and I have created the waster to destroy.
Behold, I have created the
craftsman who fans the coals into flame and forges a weapon fit for its task; and I have created the destroyer to
wreak havoc.
Instead of the
thorn shall come up the
fir tree, and instead of the
brier shall come up the
myrtle tree: and it shall be to the LORD for a name, for an
everlasting sign that shall not be cut off.
Instead of the thornbush, a
cypress will grow, and instead of the
brier, a
myrtle will spring up; they will make a name for the LORD, an
everlasting sign, never to be destroyed.”
Surely the isles shall wait for me, and the ships of
Tarshish first, to bring thy sons from far, their silver and their gold with them, unto the name of the LORD thy God, and to the Holy One of Israel, because he hath
glorified thee.
Surely the islands will wait for Me, with the ships of
Tarshish in the lead, to bring your children from
afar, with their silver and gold, to the honor of the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, for He has
glorified you.
The glory of
Lebanon shall come unto thee, the
fir tree, the pine tree, and the box together, to
beautify the place of my sanctuary; and I will make the place of my feet glorious.
As when the melting
fire burneth, the
fire causeth the waters to
boil, to make thy name known to thine
adversaries, that the nations may
tremble at thy presence!
as
fire kindles the
brushwood and causes the water to
boil, to make Your name known to Your enemies, so that the nations will
tremble at Your presence!
Our holy and our beautiful house, where our fathers praised thee, is burned up with fire: and all our pleasant things are laid waste.
Our holy and beautiful temple, where our fathers praised You, has been burned with
fire, and all that was
dear to us lies in ruins.
Which say, Stand by
thyself, come not near to me; for I am holier than thou. These are a smoke in my nose, a
fire that burneth all the day.
They say, ‘Keep to
yourself; do not come near me, for I am holier than you!’ Such people are smoke in My nostrils, a
fire that burns all day long.
For, behold, the LORD will come with
fire, and with his
chariots like a
whirlwind, to render his anger with
fury, and his
rebuke with flames of
fire.
For by
fire and by his sword will the LORD
plead with all flesh: and the slain of the LORD shall be many.
For by
fire and by His sword, the LORD will
execute judgment on all flesh, and many will be slain by the LORD.
And they shall go forth, and look upon the carcases of the men that have
transgressed against me: for their worm shall not die, neither shall their
fire be
quenched; and they shall be an
abhorring unto all flesh.
“As they go forth, they will see the corpses of the men who have rebelled against Me; for their worm will never die, their
fire will never be
quenched, and they will be a
horror to all mankind.”
Israel was
holiness unto the LORD, and the
firstfruits of his increase: all that
devour him shall
offend; evil shall come upon them, saith the LORD.
Israel was holy to the LORD, the
firstfruits of His harvest. All who
devoured her found themselves guilty;
disaster came upon them,’” declares the LORD.
Circumcise yourselves to the LORD, and take away the foreskins of your heart, ye men of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem: lest my
fury come forth like
fire, and burn that none can
quench it, because of the evil of your doings.
Circumcise yourselves to the LORD, and remove the foreskins of your hearts, O men of Judah and people of Jerusalem. Otherwise, My wrath will break out like
fire and burn with no one to
extinguish it, because of your evil deeds.”
For I have heard a voice as of a woman in
travail, and the
anguish as of her that bringeth forth her
first child, the voice of the daughter of
Zion, that bewaileth herself, that spreadeth her hands, saying,
Woe is me now! for my soul is
wearied because of murderers.
For I hear a cry like a woman in labor, a cry of
anguish like one bearing her
first child— the cry of the Daughter of
Zion gasping for breath, stretching out her hands to say, “
Woe is me, for my soul
faints before the murderers!”
Wherefore thus saith the LORD God of hosts, Because ye speak this word, behold, I will make my words in thy mouth
fire, and this people wood, and it shall
devour them.
Therefore this is what the LORD God of Hosts says: “Because you have spoken this word, I will make My words a fire in your mouth and this people the wood it consumes.
O ye children of Benjamin, gather
yourselves to
flee out of the midst of Jerusalem, and blow the
trumpet in Tekoa, and set up a sign of
fire in Beth-haccerem: for evil appeareth out of the north, and great destruction.
“Run for cover, O sons of Benjamin;
flee from Jerusalem! Sound the ram’s horn in Tekoa; send up a signal over Beth-haccherem, for
disaster looms from the north, even great destruction.
The
bellows are burned, the lead is consumed of the
fire; the founder melteth in vain: for the wicked are not
plucked away.
The
bellows blow fiercely, blasting away the lead with
fire. The refining proceeds in vain, for the wicked are not
purged.
But go ye now unto my place which was in
Shiloh, where I set my name at the
first, and see what I did to it for the wickedness of my people Israel.
But go now to the place in
Shiloh where I
first made a dwelling for My Name, and see what I did to it because of the wickedness of My people Israel.
The children gather wood, and the fathers
kindle the
fire, and the women
knead their
dough, to make cakes to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto other gods, that they may
provoke me to anger.
The sons gather wood, the fathers light the
fire, and the women
knead the
dough to make cakes for the Queen of Heaven; they pour out drink offerings to other gods to
provoke Me to anger.
And they have built the high places of
Tophet, which is in the valley of the son of
Hinnom, to burn their sons and their daughters in the
fire; which I commanded them not, neither came it into my heart.
They have built the high places of Topheth in the Valley of
Hinnom so they could burn their sons and daughters in the
fire—something I never commanded, nor did it even enter My mind.
The LORD called thy name, A green olive tree, fair, and of goodly fruit: with the noise of a great
tumult he hath
kindled fire upon it, and the branches of it are broken.
The LORD once called you a flourishing olive tree, beautiful with well-formed fruit. But with a mighty
roar He will set it on
fire, and its branches will be consumed.
And I will make thee to pass with thine enemies into a land which thou knowest not: for a
fire is
kindled in mine anger, which shall burn upon you.
Then I will
enslave you to your enemies in a land you do not know, for My anger will
kindle a
fire that will burn against you.”
And
first I will
recompense their iniquity and their sin double; because they have
defiled my land, they have filled mine inheritance with the carcases of their
detestable and
abominable things.
And I will
first repay them double their iniquity and their sin, because they have
defiled My land with the
carcasses of their
detestable idols, and they have filled My inheritance with their abominations.”
And thou, even
thyself, shalt discontinue from thine
heritage that I gave thee; and I will cause thee to serve thine enemies in the land which thou knowest not: for ye have
kindled a
fire in mine anger, which shall burn for ever.
But if ye will not
hearken unto me to
hallow the sabbath day, and not to bear a burden, even entering in at the gates of Jerusalem on the sabbath day; then will I
kindle a
fire in the gates thereof, and it shall
devour the palaces of Jerusalem, and it shall not be
quenched.
But if you do not
listen to Me to keep the Sabbath day holy by not carrying a load while entering the gates of Jerusalem on the Sabbath day, then I will
kindle an
unquenchable fire in its gates to
consume the citadels of Jerusalem.’”
They have built also the high places of
Baal, to burn their sons with
fire for burnt offerings unto
Baal, which I commanded not, nor spake it, neither came it into my mind:
They have built high places to
Baal on which to burn their children in the
fire as offerings to
Baal—something I never commanded or mentioned, nor did it even enter My mind.
Then I said, I will not make mention of him, nor speak any more in his name. But his word was in mine heart as a burning
fire shut up in my bones, and I was
weary with
forbearing, and I could not stay.
If I say, “I will not mention Him or speak any more in His name,” His message becomes a
fire burning in my heart, shut up in my bones, and I become
weary of holding it in, and I cannot prevail.
For I have set my face against this city for evil, and not for good, saith the LORD: it shall be given into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall burn it with fire.
For I have set My face against this city to bring
disaster and not good, declares the LORD. It will be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon, who will destroy it with
fire.’
O house of David, thus saith the LORD;
Execute judgment in the morning, and deliver him that is
spoiled out of the hand of the
oppressor, lest my
fury go out like
fire, and burn that none can
quench it, because of the evil of your doings.
O house of David, this is what the LORD says: ‘
Administer justice every morning, and
rescue the
victim of
robbery from the hand of his
oppressor, or My wrath will go forth like
fire and burn with no one to
extinguish it because of their evil deeds.
But I will
punish you according to the fruit of your doings, saith the LORD: and I will
kindle a
fire in the forest thereof, and it shall
devour all things round about it.
I will
punish you as your deeds deserve, declares the LORD. I will
kindle a
fire in your forest that will
consume everything around you.’”
And I will prepare destroyers against thee, every one with his weapons: and they shall cut down thy choice cedars, and cast them into the fire.
I will
appoint destroyers against you, each man with his weapons, and they will cut down the choicest of your cedars and throw them into the
fire.
Is not my word like as a fire? saith the LORD; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces?
“Is not My word like fire,” declares the LORD, “and like a hammer that smashes a rock?”
One
basket had very good figs, even like the figs that are
first ripe: and the other
basket had very
naughty figs, which could not be eaten, they were so bad.
One
basket had very good figs, like those that
ripen early, but the other
basket contained very poor figs, so bad they could not be eaten.
The word that came to Jeremiah concerning all the people of Judah in the fourth year of
Jehoiakim the son of
Josiah king of Judah, that was the
first year of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon;
This is the word that came to Jeremiah concerning all the people of Judah in the fourth year of
Jehoiakim son of
Josiah king of Judah, which was the
first year of
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon.
And of them shall be taken up a
curse by all the captivity of Judah which are in Babylon, saying, The LORD make thee like
Zedekiah and like
Ahab, whom the king of Babylon
roasted in the
fire;
Because of them, all the exiles of Judah who are in Babylon will use this
curse: ‘May the LORD make you like
Zedekiah and
Ahab, whom the king of Babylon
roasted in the
fire!’
They shall come with
weeping, and with supplications will I lead them: I will cause them to walk by the rivers of waters in a straight way, wherein they shall not
stumble: for I am a father to Israel, and Ephraim is my
firstborn.
They will come with
weeping, and by their
supplication I will lead them; I will make them walk beside streams of waters, on a level path where they will not
stumble. For I am Israel’s Father, and Ephraim is My
firstborn.”
And the Chaldeans, that fight against this city, shall come and set
fire on this city, and burn it with the houses, upon whose roofs they have offered incense unto
Baal, and poured out drink offerings unto other gods, to
provoke me to anger.
And the Chaldeans who are fighting against this city will come in, set it on
fire, and burn it, along with the houses of those who
provoked Me to anger by burning incense to
Baal on their rooftops and by pouring out drink offerings to other gods.
And they built the high places of
Baal, which are in the valley of the son of
Hinnom, to cause their sons and their daughters to pass through the
fire unto
Molech; which I commanded them not, neither came it into my mind, that they should do this
abomination, to cause Judah to sin.
They have built the high places of
Baal in the Valley of
Hinnom to make their sons and daughters pass through the
fire to
Molech—something I never commanded them, nor had it ever entered My mind, that they should commit such an
abomination and cause Judah to sin.
And I will cause the captivity of Judah and the captivity of Israel to return, and will build them, as at the first.
I will restore Judah and Israel from captivity and will rebuild them as in former times.
The voice of joy, and the voice of
gladness, the voice of the
bridegroom, and the voice of the
bride, the voice of them that shall say, Praise the LORD of hosts: for the LORD is good; for his mercy endureth for ever: and of them that shall bring the sacrifice of praise into the house of the LORD. For I will cause to return the captivity of the land, as at the
first, saith the LORD.
the sounds of joy and
gladness, the voices of the
bride and
bridegroom, and the voices of those bringing
thank offerings into the house of the LORD, saying: ‘Give
thanks to the LORD of Hosts, for the LORD is good; His loving devotion endures
forever.’ For I will restore the land from captivity as in former times, says the LORD.
Thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel; Go and speak to
Zedekiah king of Judah, and tell him, Thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will give this city into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall burn it with
fire:
The LORD, the God of Israel, told Jeremiah to go and speak to
Zedekiah king of Judah and tell him that this is what the LORD says: “Behold, I am about to deliver this city into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he will burn it down.
Behold, I will command, saith the LORD, and cause them to return to this city; and they shall fight against it, and take it, and burn it with
fire: and I will make the cities of Judah a
desolation without an inhabitant.
Behold, I am going to give the command, declares the LORD, and I will bring them back to this city. They will fight against it, capture it, and burn it down. And I will make the cities of Judah a
desolation, without inhabitant.”
Take thee a roll of a book, and write therein all the words that I have spoken unto thee against Israel, and against Judah, and against all the nations, from the day I spake unto thee, from the days of
Josiah, even into this day.
“Take a
scroll and write on it all the words I have spoken to you concerning Israel, Judah, and all the nations, from the day I
first spoke to you during the reign of
Josiah until
today.
Now the king sat in the winterhouse in the ninth month: and there was a
fire on the
hearth burning before him.
Since it was the ninth month, the king was sitting in his winter quarters with a fire burning before him.
And it came to pass, that when Jehudi had read three or four leaves, he cut it with the
penknife, and cast it into the
fire that was on the
hearth, until all the roll was consumed in the
fire that was on the
hearth.
And as soon as Jehudi had read three or four columns,
Jehoiakim would cut them off with a
scribe’s knife and throw them into the
firepot, until the entire
scroll had been consumed by the
fire.
Take thee again another roll, and write in it all the former words that were in the
first roll, which
Jehoiakim the king of Judah hath burned.
“Take another
scroll and rewrite on it the very words that were on the original
scroll, which
Jehoiakim king of Judah has burned.
Then took Jeremiah another roll, and gave it to
Baruch the
scribe, the son of Neriah; who wrote therein from the mouth of Jeremiah all the words of the book which
Jehoiakim king of Judah had burned in the
fire: and there were added besides unto them many like words.
Then Jeremiah took another
scroll and gave it to the
scribe Baruch son of Neriah, and at Jeremiah’s
dictation he wrote on it all the words of the
scroll that
Jehoiakim king of Judah had burned in the
fire. And many similar words were added to them.
And the Chaldeans shall come again, and fight against this city, and take it, and burn it with fire.
Then the Chaldeans will return and fight against this city. They will capture it and burn it down.
For though ye had
smitten the whole army of the Chaldeans that fight against you, and there remained but wounded men among them, yet should they rise up every man in his tent, and burn this city with
fire.
Indeed, if you were to strike down the entire army of the Chaldeans that is fighting against you, and only wounded men remained in their tents, they would still get up and burn this city down.”
Then said Jeremiah unto
Zedekiah, Thus saith the LORD, the God of hosts, the God of Israel; If thou
wilt assuredly go forth unto the king of Babylon’s princes, then thy soul shall live, and this city shall not be burned with
fire; and thou shalt live, and thine house:
Then Jeremiah said to
Zedekiah, “This is what the LORD God of Hosts, the God of Israel, says: ‘If you indeed surrender to the officers of the king of Babylon, then you will live, this city will not be burned down, and you and your household will
survive.
But if thou
wilt not go forth to the king of Babylon’s princes, then shall this city be given into the hand of the Chaldeans, and they shall burn it with
fire, and thou shalt not escape out of their hand.
But if you do not surrender to the officers of the king of Babylon, then this city will be delivered into the hands of the Chaldeans. They will burn it down, and you
yourself will not escape their
grasp.’”
So they shall bring out all thy wives and thy children to the Chaldeans: and thou shalt not escape out of their hand, but shalt be taken by the hand of the king of Babylon: and thou shalt cause this city to be burned with fire.
All your wives and children will be brought out to the Chaldeans. And you
yourself will not escape their
grasp, for you will be seized by the king of Babylon, and this city will be burned down.”
And the Chaldeans burned the king’s house, and the houses of the people, with
fire, and
brake down the walls of Jerusalem.
The Chaldeans set fire to the palace of the king and to the houses of the people, and they broke down the walls of Jerusalem.
And I will
kindle a
fire in the houses of the gods of Egypt; and he shall burn them, and carry them away
captives: and he shall
array himself with the land of Egypt, as a
shepherd putteth on his garment; and he shall go forth from thence in peace.
I will
kindle a
fire in the temples of the gods of Egypt, and
Nebuchadnezzar will burn those temples and take their gods as
captives. So he will
wrap himself with the land of Egypt as a
shepherd wraps himself in his garment, and he will depart from there unscathed.
He shall break also the images of Beth-shemesh, that is in the land of Egypt; and the houses of the gods of the Egyptians shall he burn with fire.
He will
demolish the sacred pillars of the temple of the sun in the land of Egypt, and he will burn down the temples of the gods of Egypt.’”
They that fled stood under the shadow of
Heshbon because of the force: but a
fire shall come forth out of
Heshbon, and a flame from the midst of Sihon, and shall
devour the corner of Moab, and the crown of the head of the
tumultuous ones.
“Those who
flee will stand helpless in
Heshbon’s shadow, because
fire has gone forth from
Heshbon and a flame from within Sihon. It devours the foreheads of Moab and the skulls of the sons of
tumult.
Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will cause an
alarm of war to be heard in Rabbah of the
Ammonites; and it shall be a
desolate heap, and her daughters shall be burned with
fire: then shall Israel be heir unto them that were his heirs, saith the LORD.
Therefore, behold, the days are coming, declares the LORD, when I will sound the battle cry against Rabbah of the
Ammonites. It will become a
heap of ruins, and its villages will be burned. Then Israel will drive out their dispossessors, says the LORD.
And I will
kindle a
fire in the wall of Damascus, and it shall
consume the palaces of Ben-
hadad.
“I will set
fire to the walls of Damascus; it will
consume the fortresses of Ben-
hadad.”
Israel is a scattered sheep; the lions have driven him away:
first the king of Assyria hath
devoured him; and last this Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon hath broken his bones.
Israel is a scattered flock,
chased away by lions. The
first to
devour him was the king of Assyria; the last to
crush his bones was
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon.”
And the most proud shall
stumble and fall, and none shall raise him up: and I will
kindle a
fire in his cities, and it shall
devour all round about him.
And that the passages are stopped, and the reeds they have burned with
fire, and the men of war are
affrighted.
The fords have been seized, the marshes set on
fire, and the soldiers are
terrified.”
Thus saith the LORD of hosts; The broad walls of Babylon shall be utterly broken, and her high gates shall be burned with
fire; and the people shall labour in vain, and the
folk in the
fire, and they shall be
weary.
This is what the LORD of Hosts says: “Babylon’s thick walls will be leveled, and her high gates consumed by
fire. So the labor of the people will be for nothing; the nations will
exhaust themselves to fuel the flames.”
And burned the house of the LORD, and the king’s house; and all the houses of Jerusalem, and all the houses of the great men, burned he with fire:
He burned down the house of the LORD, the royal palace, and all the houses of Jerusalem—every
significant building.
And the basons, and the
firepans, and the
bowls, and the caldrons, and the candlesticks, and the spoons, and the cups; that which was of gold in gold, and that which was of silver in silver, took the captain of the guard away.
The captain of the guard also took away the basins, censers,
sprinkling bowls, pots, lampstands, pans, and drink offering
bowls—anything made of pure gold or fine silver.
And it came to pass in the seven and
thirtieth year of the captivity of
Jehoiachin king of Judah, in the
twelfth month, in the five and
twentieth day of the month, that Evil-merodach king of Babylon in the
first year of his reign lifted up the head of
Jehoiachin king of Judah, and brought him forth out of prison,
On the twenty-fifth day of the
twelfth month of the thirty-seventh year of the exile of
Jehoiachin king of Judah, in the
first year of the reign of Evil-merodach king of Babylon, he
pardoned Jehoiachin king of Judah and released him from prison.
From above hath he sent
fire into my bones, and it prevaileth against them: he hath spread a net for my feet, he hath turned me back: he hath made me
desolate and
faint all the day.
He sent
fire from on high, and it overpowered my bones. He spread a net for my feet and turned me back. He made me
desolate,
faint all the day long.
He hath cut off in his fierce anger all the horn of Israel: he hath drawn back his right hand from before the enemy, and he burned against Jacob like a flaming fire, which devoureth round about.
In fierce anger He has cut off every horn of Israel and withdrawn His right hand at the approach of the enemy. He has burned in Jacob like a flaming fire that consumes everything around it.
He hath bent his bow like an enemy: he stood with his right hand as an
adversary, and
slew all that were pleasant to the eye in the tabernacle of the daughter of
Zion: he poured out his
fury like
fire.
He has bent His bow like an enemy; His right hand is positioned. Like a
foe He has killed all who were pleasing to the eye; He has poured out His wrath like
fire on the tent of the Daughter of
Zion.
Arise, cry out in the night: in the beginning of the watches pour out thine heart like water before the face of the Lord: lift up thy hands toward him for the life of thy young children, that
faint for hunger in the top of every street.
Arise, cry out in the night from the
first watch of the night. Pour out your heart like water in the presence of the Lord. Lift up your hands to Him for the lives of your children who are
fainting from hunger on the corner of every street.
The LORD hath accomplished his
fury; he hath poured out his fierce anger, and hath
kindled a
fire in
Zion, and it hath
devoured the foundations thereof.
The LORD has exhausted His wrath; He has poured out His fierce anger; He has
kindled a
fire in
Zion, and it has consumed her foundations.
And I looked, and, behold, a
whirlwind came out of the north, a great cloud, and a
fire infolding itself, and a brightness was about it, and out of the midst thereof as the colour of
amber, out of the midst of the
fire.
I looked and saw a
whirlwind coming from the north, a great cloud with
fire flashing back and forth and brilliant light all around it. In the center of the
fire was a
gleam like
amber,
As for the likeness of the living creatures, their appearance was like burning coals of
fire, and like the appearance of lamps: it went up and down among the living creatures; and the
fire was bright, and out of the
fire went forth
lightning.
In the midst of the living creatures was the appearance of
glowing coals of
fire, or of torches.
Fire moved back and forth between the living creatures; it was bright, and
lightning flashed out of it.
And the likeness of the
firmament upon the heads of the living creature was as the colour of the terrible crystal, stretched forth over their heads above.
Spread out above the heads of the living creatures was the likeness of an
awesome expanse,
gleaming like crystal.
And under the
firmament were their wings straight, the one toward the other: every one had two, which covered on this side, and every one had two, which covered on that side, their bodies.
And under the
expanse, their wings stretched out toward one another. Each one also had two wings covering its body.
And there was a voice from the
firmament that was over their heads, when they stood, and had let down their wings.
And there came a voice from above the
expanse over their heads as they stood still with their wings lowered.
And above the
firmament that was over their heads was the likeness of a throne, as the appearance of a
sapphire stone: and upon the likeness of the throne was the likeness as the appearance of a man above upon it.
Above the
expanse over their heads was the likeness of a throne with the appearance of
sapphire, and on the throne high above was a figure like that of a man.
And I saw as the colour of
amber, as the appearance of
fire round about within it, from the appearance of his loins even upward, and from the appearance of his loins even
downward, I saw as it were the appearance of
fire, and it had brightness round about.
From what seemed to be His
waist up, I saw a
gleam like
amber, with what looked like
fire within it all around. And from what seemed to be His
waist down, I saw what looked like
fire; and brilliant light surrounded Him.
Thou shalt burn with
fire a third part in the midst of the city, when the days of the siege are fulfilled: and thou shalt take a third part, and
smite about it with a knife: and a third part thou shalt
scatter in the wind; and I will draw out a sword after them.
When the days of the siege have ended, you are to burn up a third of the hair inside the city; you are also to take a third and
slash it with the sword all around the city; and you are to
scatter a third to the wind. For I will
unleash a sword behind them.
Then take of them again, and cast them into the midst of the fire, and burn them in the fire; for thereof shall a fire come forth into all the house of Israel.
Again, take a few of these, throw them into the fire, and burn them. From there a fire will spread to the whole house of Israel.
Then I
beheld, and lo a likeness as the appearance of
fire: from the appearance of his loins even
downward,
fire; and from his loins even upward, as the appearance of brightness, as the colour of
amber.
Then I looked and saw a figure like that of a man. From His
waist down His appearance was like
fire, and from His
waist up He was as bright as the
gleam of
amber.
Then I looked, and, behold, in the
firmament that was above the head of the cherubims there appeared over them as it were a
sapphire stone, as the appearance of the likeness of a throne.
