gates of Jerusalem on the Sabbath day.
And it shall come to pass, if ye

gates of this city on the sabbath day, but
hallow the sabbath day, to do no work therein;
If, however, you
listen carefully to Me, says the LORD, and bring no load through the
gates of this city on the Sabbath day, and keep the Sabbath day holy, and do no work on it,
Then shall there enter into the

kindle a fire in the
gates thereof, and it shall
devour the palaces of Jerusalem, and it shall not be
quenched.

listen to Me to keep the Sabbath day holy by not carrying a load while entering the
gates of Jerusalem on the Sabbath day, then I will
kindle an

The mighty men of Babylon have forborn to fight, they have remained in their holds: their might hath failed; they became as women: they have burned her dwellingplaces; her bars are broken.
The warriors of Babylon have stopped fighting; they sit in their strongholds. Their strength is exhausted; they have become like women. Babylon’s homes have been set
ablaze, the bars of her
gates are broken.
Thus saith the LORD of hosts; The broad walls of Babylon shall be utterly broken, and her high
gates shall be burned with fire; and the people shall labour in vain, and the
folk in the fire, and they shall be
weary.
This is what the LORD of Hosts says: “Babylon’s thick walls will be leveled, and her high
gates consumed by fire. So the labor of the people will be for nothing; the nations will
exhaust themselves to fuel the flames.”

The ways of
Zion do
mourn, because none come to the solemn feasts: all her
gates are
desolate: her priests
sigh, her virgins are
afflicted, and she is in bitterness.
The roads to
Zion mourn, because no one comes to her appointed feasts. All her
gates are deserted; her priests
groan, her maidens
grieve, and she herself is bitter with
anguish.
Her gates are sunk into the ground; he hath destroyed and broken her bars: her king and her princes are among the Gentiles: the law is no more; her prophets also find no vision from the LORD.

gates have sunk into the ground; He has destroyed and
shattered their bars. Her king and her princes are exiled among the nations, the law is no more, and even her prophets find no vision from the LORD.
The kings of the earth, and all the inhabitants of the world, would not have believed that the
adversary and the enemy should have entered into the
gates of Jerusalem.

foe could enter the
gates of Jerusalem.
The elders have ceased from the gate, the young men from their musick.
The elders have left the city gate; the young men have stopped their music.
And he put forth the form of an hand, and took me by a
lock of mine head; and the spirit lifted me up between the earth and the heaven, and brought me in the visions of God to Jerusalem, to the door of the inner
gate that looketh toward the north; where was the seat of the image of jealousy, which provoketh to jealousy.
He stretched out what looked like a hand and took me by the hair of my head. Then the Spirit lifted me up between earth and heaven and carried me in visions of God to Jerusalem, to the entrance of the north
gate of the inner court, where the
idol that provokes jealousy was seated.
Then said he unto me, Son of man, lift up thine eyes now the way toward the north. So I lifted up mine eyes the way toward the north, and behold northward at the gate of the altar this image of jealousy in the entry.
“Son of man,” He said to me, “now lift up your eyes to the north.” So I lifted up my eyes to the north, and in the entrance north of the Altar
Gate I saw this
idol of jealousy.
Then he brought me to the door of the
gate of the LORD’S house which was toward the north; and, behold, there sat women
weeping for
Tammuz.
Then He brought me to the entrance of the north
gate of the house of the LORD, and I saw women sitting there,
weeping for
Tammuz.
And, behold, six men came from the way of the higher
gate, which lieth toward the north, and every man a slaughter weapon in his hand; and one man among them was clothed with linen, with a writer’s
inkhorn by his side: and they went in, and stood beside the
brasen altar.
And I saw six men coming from the direction of the Upper
Gate, which faces north, each with a weapon of slaughter in his hand. With them was another man clothed in linen who had a writing
kit at his side. And they came in and stood beside the bronze altar.
And the cherubims lifted up their wings, and mounted up from the earth in my sight: when they went out, the wheels also were beside them, and every one stood at the door of the east gate of the LORD’S house; and the glory of the God of Israel was over them above.
As I watched, the
cherubim lifted their wings and rose up from the ground, with the wheels beside them as they went. And they stopped at the entrance of the east
gate of the house of the LORD, with the glory of the God of Israel above them.
Moreover the spirit lifted me up, and brought me unto the east gate of the LORD’S house, which looketh eastward: and behold at the door of the gate five and twenty men; among whom I saw Jaazaniah the son of Azur, and Pelatiah the son of Benaiah, the princes of the people.
Then the Spirit lifted me up and brought me to the gate of the house of the LORD that faces east. And there at the entrance of the gate were twenty-five men. Among them I saw Jaazaniah son of Azzur and Pelatiah son of Benaiah, who were leaders of the people.
I have set the point of the sword against all their
gates, that their heart may
faint, and their ruins be multiplied:
ah! it is made bright, it is
wrapped up for the slaughter.
So that their hearts may
melt and many may
stumble, I have appointed at all their
gates a sword for slaughter.
Yes, it is ready to
flash like
lightning; it is drawn for slaughter.
At his right hand was the
divination for Jerusalem, to
appoint captains, to open the mouth in the slaughter, to lift up the voice with
shouting, to
appoint battering rams against the
gates, to cast a mount, and to build a fort.
In his right hand appears the
portent for Jerusalem, where he is to set up
battering rams, to call for the slaughter, to lift a battle cry, to direct the
battering rams against the
gates, to build a
ramp, and to erect a siege wall.
Son of man, because that Tyrus hath said against Jerusalem,
Aha, she is broken that was the
gates of the people: she is turned unto me: I shall be
replenished, now she is laid waste:
“Son of man, because Tyre has said of Jerusalem, ‘
Aha! The
gate to the nations is broken; it has
swung open to me; now that she lies in ruins I will be filled,’
By reason of the abundance of his horses their dust shall cover thee: thy walls shall
shake at the noise of the
horsemen, and of the wheels, and of the
chariots, when he shall enter into thy
gates, as men enter into a city wherein is made a breach.
His multitude of horses will cover you in their dust. When he enters your
gates as an army entering a breached city, your walls will
shake from the noise of cavalry, wagons, and
chariots.
And say unto Tyrus, O thou that art
situate at the entry of the sea, which art a merchant of the people for many isles, Thus saith the Lord GOD; O Tyrus, thou hast said, I am of perfect beauty.
Tell Tyre, who dwells at the
gateway to the sea, merchant of the peoples on many coasts, that this is what the Lord GOD says: You have said, O Tyre, ‘I am perfect in beauty.’
And thou shalt say, I will go up to the land of unwalled villages; I will go to them that are at rest, that dwell safely, all of them dwelling without walls, and having neither bars nor gates,
You will say, ‘I will go up against a land of unwalled villages; I will come against a
tranquil people who dwell securely, all of them living without walls or bars or
gates—
And he brought me thither, and, behold, there was a man, whose appearance was like the appearance of brass, with a line of flax in his hand, and a measuring reed; and he stood in the gate.
So He took me there, and I saw a man whose appearance was like bronze. He was standing in the
gateway with a linen cord and a measuring rod in his hand.
Then came he unto the
gate which looketh toward the east, and went up the stairs thereof, and measured the
threshold of the
gate, which was one reed broad; and the other
threshold of the
gate, which was one reed broad.
Then he came to the
gate facing east and
climbed its steps. He measured the
threshold of the
gate to be one rod deep.
And every little chamber was one reed long, and one reed broad; and between the little chambers were five cubits; and the
threshold of the
gate by the
porch of the
gate within was one reed.
Each
gate chamber was one rod long and one rod wide, and there were five cubits between the
gate chambers. The inner
threshold of the
gate by the
portico facing inward was one rod deep.
He measured also the
porch of the
gate within, one reed.
Then measured he the
porch of the
gate, eight cubits; and the posts thereof, two cubits; and the
porch of the
gate was inward.
it was eight cubits deep, and its jambs were two cubits thick. And the
portico of the
gateway faced the temple.
