And it was told Solomon that Shimei had
gone from Jerusalem to
Gath, and was come again.
When Solomon was told that Shimei had
gone from Jerusalem to
Gath and had returned,
For Pharaoh king of Egypt had
gone up, and taken
Gezer, and burnt it with fire, and slain the
Canaanites that dwelt in the city, and given it for a present unto his daughter, Solomon’s wife.
Pharaoh king of Egypt had attacked and captured
Gezer. He had set it on fire, killed the
Canaanites who lived in the city, and given it as a
dowry to his daughter, Solomon’s wife.
For it came to pass, when David was in
Edom, and
Joab the captain of the host was
gone up to
bury the slain, after he had
smitten every male in
Edom;
Earlier, when David was in
Edom,
Joab the commander of the army had
gone to
bury the dead and had struck down every male in
Edom.
Then
Rehoboam went to
Shechem, for all Israel had
gone there to make him king.
And when he was
gone, a lion met him by the way, and
slew him: and his
carcase was cast in the way, and the
ass stood by it, the lion also stood by the
carcase.
As he went on his way, a lion met him on the road and killed him, and his body was left lying in the road, with the
donkey and the lion standing beside it.
But hast done evil above all that were before thee: for thou hast
gone and made thee other gods, and
molten images, to
provoke me to anger, and hast cast me behind thy back:
You have done more evil than all who came before you. You have proceeded to make for
yourself other gods and
molten images to
provoke Me, and you have
flung Me behind your back.
Therefore, behold, I will bring evil upon the house of
Jeroboam, and will cut off from
Jeroboam him that pisseth against the wall, and him that is shut up and left in Israel, and will take away the
remnant of the house of
Jeroboam, as a man taketh away dung, till it be all
gone.
Because of all this, behold, I am bringing
disaster on the house of
Jeroboam: I will cut off from
Jeroboam every male, both slave and free, in Israel; I will burn up the house of
Jeroboam as one burns up dung until it is
gone!
And it shall come to pass, as soon as I am
gone from thee, that the Spirit of the LORD shall carry thee
whither I know not; and so when I come and tell
Ahab, and he cannot find thee, he shall
slay me: but I thy servant fear the LORD from my youth.
I do not know where the Spirit of the LORD may carry you off when I leave you. Then when I go and tell
Ahab and he does not find you, he will kill me. But I, your servant, have feared the LORD from my youth.
And as thy servant was
busy here and there, he was
gone. And the king of Israel said unto him, So shall thy judgment be;
thyself hast decided it.
But while your servant was
busy here and there, the man disappeared.” And the king of Israel said to him, “So shall your judgment be; you have pronounced it on
yourself.”
Arise, go down to meet
Ahab king of Israel, which is in Samaria: behold, he is in the
vineyard of
Naboth,
whither he is
gone down to possess it.
“Get up and go down to meet
Ahab king of Israel, who is in Samaria. See, he is in the
vineyard of
Naboth, of which he has
gone to take possession.
And the
messenger that was
gone to call Micaiah spake unto him, saying, Behold now, the words of the prophets declare good unto the king with one mouth: let thy word, I pray thee, be like the word of one of them, and speak that which is good.
Then the
messenger who had
gone to call Micaiah
instructed him, “Behold now, with one
accord the words of the prophets are favorable to the king. So please let your words be like theirs, and speak
favorably.”
Now therefore thus saith the LORD, Thou shalt not come down from that bed on which thou art
gone up, but shalt surely die. And
Elijah departed.
Therefore this is what the LORD says: ‘You will not get up from the bed on which you are lying. You will surely die.’” So
Elijah departed.
And they said unto him, There came a man up to meet us, and said unto us, Go, turn again unto the king that sent you, and say unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Is it not because there is not a God in Israel, that thou sendest to
enquire of
Baal-
zebub the god of
Ekron? therefore thou shalt not come down from that bed on which thou art
gone up, but shalt surely die.
They replied, “A man came up to meet us and said, ‘Go back to the king who sent you and tell him that this is what the LORD says: Is it because there is no God in Israel that you are sending these men to inquire of
Baal-
zebub, the god of
Ekron? Therefore you will not get up from the bed on which you are lying. You will surely die.’”
And he said unto him, Thus saith the LORD,
Forasmuch as thou hast sent messengers to
enquire of
Baal-
zebub the god of
Ekron, is it not because there is no God in Israel to
enquire of his word? therefore thou shalt not come down off that bed on which thou art
gone up, but shalt surely die.
And
Elijah said to King
Ahaziah, “This is what the LORD says: Is there really no God in Israel for you to inquire of His word? Is that why you have sent messengers to inquire of
Baal-
zebub, the god of
Ekron? Therefore you will not get up from the bed on which you are lying. You will surely die.”
And it came to pass, when they were
gone over, that
Elijah said unto
Elisha, Ask what I shall do for thee, before I be taken away from thee. And
Elisha said, I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me.
After they had crossed over,
Elijah said to
Elisha, “Tell me, what can I do for you before I am taken away from you?” “Please, let me
inherit a double portion of your spirit,”
Elisha replied.
And he said unto him, Say now unto her, Behold, thou hast been careful for us with all this care; what is to be done for thee? wouldest thou be spoken for to the king, or to the captain of the host? And she answered, I dwell among mine own people.
and
Elisha said to Gehazi, “Now tell her, ‘Look, you have
gone to all this trouble for us. What can we do for you? Can we speak on your behalf to the king or the commander of the army?’” “I have a home among my own people,” she replied.
And the Syrians had
gone out by companies, and had brought away
captive out of the land of Israel a little
maid; and she waited on
Naaman’s wife.
At this time the Arameans had
gone out in bands and had taken a young
girl from the land of Israel, and she was serving
Naaman’s wife.
And when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and
gone forth, behold, an host compassed the city both with horses and
chariots. And his servant said unto him,
Alas, my master! how shall we do?
When the servant of the man of God got up and went out early in the morning, an army with horses and
chariots had surrounded the city. So he asked
Elisha, “Oh, my master, what are we to do?”
And the king arose in the night, and said unto his servants, I will now
shew you what the Syrians have done to us. They know that we be
hungry; therefore are they
gone out of the camp to hide themselves in the field, saying, When they come out of the city, we shall catch them alive, and get into the city.
So the king got up in the night and said to his servants, “Let me tell you what the Arameans have done to us. They know we are
starving, so they have left the camp to hide in the field, thinking, ‘When they come out of the city, we will take them alive and enter the city.’”
And it came to pass,
afore Isaiah was
gone out into the middle court, that the word of the LORD came to him, saying,
Before Isaiah had left the middle
courtyard, the word of the LORD came to him, saying,
And Isaiah the prophet
cried unto the LORD: and he brought the shadow ten degrees backward, by which it had
gone down in the
dial of
Ahaz.
So Isaiah the prophet called out to the LORD, and He brought the shadow back the ten steps it had descended on the
stairway of
Ahaz.
And it shall be, when thou shalt hear a sound of going in the tops of the
mulberry trees, that then thou shalt go out to battle: for God is
gone forth before thee to
smite the host of the Philistines.
As soon as you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the
balsam trees, move out to battle, because this will mean that God has marched out before you to strike the camp of the Philistines.”
For I have not dwelt in an house since the day that I brought up Israel unto this day; but have gone from tent to tent, and from one tabernacle to another.
For I have not dwelt in a house from the day I brought Israel up out of Egypt until this day, but I have moved from tent to tent and dwelling to dwelling.
And I have been with thee
whithersoever thou hast walked, and have cut off all thine enemies from before thee, and have made thee a name like the name of the great men that are in the earth.
I have been with you wherever you have gone, and I have cut off all your enemies from before you. Now I will make for you a name like the greatest in the land.
Then
Rehoboam went to
Shechem, for all Israel had
gone there to make him king.
And the
messenger that went to call Micaiah spake to him, saying, Behold, the words of the prophets declare good to the king with one assent; let thy word therefore, I pray thee, be like one of theirs, and speak thou good.
Then the
messenger who had
gone to call Micaiah
instructed him, “Behold, with one
accord the words of the prophets are favorable to the king. So please let your words be like theirs, and speak
favorably.”
And the rulers knew not
whither I went, or what I did; neither had I as yet told it to the Jews, nor to the priests, nor to the nobles, nor to the rulers, nor to the rest that did the work.
The officials did not know where I had gone or what I was doing, for I had not yet told the Jews or priests or nobles or officials or any other workers.
And I perceived that the portions of the Levites had not been given them: for the Levites and the singers, that did the work, were fled every one to his field.
I also learned that because the portions for the Levites had not been given to them, all the Levites and singers responsible for performing the service had gone back to their own fields.
And it was so, when the days of their feasting were
gone about, that Job sent and
sanctified them, and rose up early in the morning, and offered burnt offerings according to the number of them all: for Job said, It may be that my sons have
sinned, and
cursed God in their hearts. Thus did Job continually.
And when the days of feasting were over, Job would send for his children to
purify them, rising early in the morning to offer burnt offerings for all of them. For Job thought, “Perhaps my children have
sinned and
cursed God in their hearts.” This was Job’s regular practice.
When I lie down, I say, When shall I arise, and the night be
gone? and I am full of tossings to and
fro unto the
dawning of the day.
When I lie down I think: ‘When will I get up?’ But the night drags on, and I
toss and turn until
dawn.
As the cloud is consumed and vanisheth away: so he that goeth down to the grave shall come up no more.
As a cloud vanishes and is
gone, so he who goes down to
Sheol does not come back up.
Because thou shalt
forget thy misery, and remember it as waters that pass away:
For you will
forget your misery, recalling it only as waters
gone by.
And be it indeed that I have
erred, mine error remaineth with myself.
Even if I have truly
gone astray, my error concerns me alone.
He hath destroyed me on every side, and I am gone: and mine hope hath he removed like a tree.
He tears me down on every side until I am gone; He uproots my hope like a tree.
Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.
I have not departed from the command of His lips; I have
treasured the words of His mouth more than my daily bread.
The murderer rising with the light killeth the poor and
needy, and in the night is as a
thief.
When
daylight is
gone, the murderer rises to kill the poor and
needy; in the night he is like a
thief.
They are
exalted for a little while, but are
gone and brought low; they are taken out of the way as all other, and cut off as the tops of the ears of corn.
They are
exalted for a moment, then they are
gone; they are brought low and gathered up like all others; they are cut off like heads of grain.
The rich man shall lie down, but he shall not be gathered: he openeth his eyes, and he is not.
He lies down wealthy, but will do so no more; when he opens his eyes, all is gone.
The east wind carrieth him away, and he departeth: and as a storm hurleth him out of his place.
The east wind carries him away, and he is gone; it sweeps him out of his place.
The flood breaketh out from the inhabitant; even the waters forgotten of the foot: they are dried up, they are gone away from men.
Far from human
habitation he cuts a shaft in places forgotten by the foot of man. Far from men he dangles and sways.
Oh that I were as in months past, as in the days when God preserved me;
“How I long for the months gone by, for the days when God watched over me,
They are all
gone aside, they are all together become
filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one.
All have turned away, they have together become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one.
Their line is gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world. In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun,
their voice has gone out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world. In the heavens He has pitched a tent for the sun.
For mine
iniquities are
gone over mine head: as an heavy burden they are too heavy for me.
My heart panteth, my strength faileth me: as for the light of mine eyes, it also is gone from me.
My heart pounds, my strength fails, and even the light of my eyes has
faded.
When I remember these things, I pour out my soul in me: for I had
gone with the multitude, I went with them to the house of God, with the voice of joy and praise, with a multitude that kept
holyday.
These things come to mind as I pour out my soul: how I walked with the multitude, leading the
procession to the house of God with shouts of joy and praise.
Deep calleth unto deep at the noise of thy waterspouts: all thy waves and thy billows are gone over me.
Deep calls to deep in the
roar of Your waterfalls; all Your breakers and waves have rolled over me.
God is
gone up with a
shout, the LORD with the sound of a
trumpet.
God has ascended amid shouts of joy, the LORD with the sound of the horn.
Every one of them is
gone back: they are altogether become
filthy; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.
All have turned away, they have together become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one.
But as for me, my feet were almost
gone; my steps had well
nigh slipped.
Is his mercy clean
gone for ever?
doth his promise fail for
evermore?
Is His loving devotion
gone forever? Has His promise failed for all time?
My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips.
For the wind passeth over it, and it is gone; and the place thereof shall know it no more.
when the wind passes over, it vanishes, and its place remembers it no more.
I am
gone like the shadow when it declineth: I am
tossed up and down as the
locust.
I have
gone astray like a lost sheep; seek thy servant; for I do not
forget thy commandments.
I have
strayed like a lost sheep; seek Your servant, for I have not forgotten Your commandments.
Then the waters had
overwhelmed us, the stream had
gone over our soul:
Then the proud waters had gone over our soul.
then the
raging waters would have swept us away.
For the
goodman is not at home, he is
gone a long journey:
For my husband is not at home; he has gone on a long journey.
It is
naught, it is
naught, saith the
buyer: but when he is
gone his way, then he boasteth.
“Worthless, worthless!” says the
buyer, but on the way out, he gloats.
And so I saw the wicked buried, who had come and gone from the place of the holy, and they were forgotten in the city where they had so done: this is also vanity.
Then too, I saw the burial of the wicked who used to go in and out of the holy place, and they were praised in the city where they had done so. This too is
futile.
For, lo, the winter is past, the rain is over and gone;
For now the winter is past; the rain is over and gone.
I opened to my beloved; but my beloved had withdrawn himself, and was gone: my soul failed when he spake: I sought him, but I could not find him; I called him, but he gave me no answer.
I opened for my beloved, but he had turned and
gone. My heart
sank at his departure. I sought him, but did not find him. I called, but he did not answer.
Whither is thy beloved
gone, O thou fairest among women?
whither is thy beloved turned aside? that we may seek him with thee.
Where has your beloved gone, O most beautiful among women? Which way has he turned? We will seek him with you.
My beloved is
gone down into his garden, to the beds of spices, to feed in the gardens, and to gather
lilies.
My beloved has
gone down to his garden, to the beds of spices, to pasture his flock in the gardens and to gather
lilies.
Ah sinful nation, a people
laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers, children that are corrupters: they have
forsaken the LORD, they have
provoked the Holy One of Israel unto anger, they are
gone away backward.
Alas, O sinful nation, a people
laden with iniquity, a
brood of evildoers, children of
depravity! They have
forsaken the LORD; they have
despised the Holy One of Israel and turned their backs on Him.
Therefore my people are
gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge: and their honourable men are
famished, and their multitude dried up with
thirst.
They are
gone over the passage: they have taken up their
lodging at Geba;
Ramah is afraid; Gibeah of Saul is fled.
They have crossed at the
ford: “We will
spend the night at Geba.”
Ramah trembles; Gibeah of Saul flees.
He is
gone up to Bajith, and to Dibon, the high places, to
weep: Moab shall
howl over
Nebo, and over Medeba: on all their heads shall be
baldness, and every
beard cut off.
Dibon goes up to its temple to
weep at its high places. Moab wails over
Nebo, as well as over Medeba. Every head is
shaved, every
beard is cut off.
For the waters of Nimrim shall be
desolate: for the hay is
withered away, the grass faileth, there is no green thing.
The waters of Nimrim are dried up, and the grass is
withered; the vegetation is
gone, and the
greenery is no more.
For the cry is
gone round about the borders of Moab; the
howling thereof unto Eglaim, and the
howling thereof unto Beer-elim.
For their outcry
echoes to the border of Moab. Their
wailing reaches Eglaim; it is heard in Beer-elim.
Let mine outcasts dwell with thee, Moab; be thou a
covert to them from the face of the
spoiler: for the
extortioner is at an end, the
spoiler ceaseth, the oppressors are consumed out of the land.
Let my fugitives stay with you; be a refuge for Moab from the destroyer.” When the
oppressor has
gone, destruction has ceased, and the oppressors have
vanished from the land,
For the fields of
Heshbon languish, and the vine of Sibmah: the lords of the heathen have broken down the principal plants thereof, they are come even unto Jazer, they
wandered through the wilderness: her branches are stretched out, they are
gone over the sea.
For the fields of
Heshbon have
withered, along with the grapevines of Sibmah. The rulers of the nations have
trampled its choicest vines, which had reached as far as Jazer and spread toward the desert. Their shoots had spread out and passed over the sea.
For
afore the harvest, when the
bud is perfect, and the
sour grape is
ripening in the flower, he shall both cut off the sprigs with pruninghooks, and take away and cut down the branches.
For before the harvest, when the
blossom is
gone and the flower becomes a
ripening grape, He will cut off the shoots with a
pruning knife and remove and discard the branches.
And the LORD said, Like as my servant Isaiah hath walked naked and
barefoot three years for a sign and wonder upon Egypt and upon
Ethiopia;
Then the LORD said, “Just as My servant Isaiah has
gone naked and
barefoot for three years as a sign and
omen against Egypt and
Cush,
For thus hath the Lord said unto me, Within a year, according to the years of an
hireling, and all the glory of
Kedar shall fail:
For this is what the Lord says to me: “Within one year, as a
hired worker would count it, all the glory of
Kedar will be
gone.
The burden of the valley of vision. What aileth thee now, that thou art wholly gone up to the housetops?
This is the burden against the Valley of Vision: What ails you now, that you have all gone up to the rooftops,
There is a crying for wine in the streets; all joy is
darkened, the
mirth of the land is
gone.
In the streets they cry out for wine. All joy turns to
gloom;
rejoicing is exiled from the land.
Ye shall
defile also the covering of thy
graven images of silver, and the ornament of thy
molten images of gold: thou shalt cast them away as a
menstruous cloth; thou shalt say unto it, Get thee hence.
So you will
desecrate your silver-plated idols and your gold-plated images. You will throw them away like
menstrual cloths, saying to them, “Be
gone!”
Behold, I will bring again the shadow of the degrees, which is
gone down in the sun
dial of
Ahaz, ten degrees backward. So the sun returned ten degrees, by which degrees it was
gone down.
I will make the sun’s shadow that falls on the
stairway of
Ahaz go back ten steps.’” So the
sunlight went back the ten steps it had descended.
He pursued them, and passed safely; even by the way that he had not gone with his feet.
He pursues them, going on safely, hardly touching the path with his feet.
I have
sworn by myself, the word is
gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, That unto me every
knee shall bow, every tongue shall
swear.
By Myself I have
sworn; truth has
gone out from My mouth, a word that will not be
revoked: Every
knee will bow before Me, every tongue will
swear allegiance.
They
stoop, they bow down together; they could not deliver the burden, but themselves are
gone into captivity.
The gods cower; they
crouch together, unable to
relieve the burden; but they themselves go into captivity.
My righteousness is near; my salvation is gone forth, and mine arms shall judge the people; the isles shall wait upon me, and on mine arm shall they trust.
My righteousness draws near, My salvation is on the way, and My arms will bring justice to the nations. The islands will look for Me and wait in hope for My arm.
All we like sheep have
gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
We all like sheep have
gone astray, each one has turned to his own way; and the LORD has laid upon Him the iniquity of us all.
Behind the doors also and the posts hast thou set up thy
remembrance: for thou hast discovered
thyself to another than me, and art
gone up; thou hast enlarged thy bed, and made thee a covenant with them; thou lovedst their bed where thou sawest it.
Behind the door and
doorpost you have set up your
memorial.
Forsaking Me, you uncovered your bed; you
climbed up and opened it wide. And you have made a
pact with those whose bed you have loved; you have
gazed upon their nakedness.
Thus saith the LORD, What iniquity have your fathers found in me, that they are gone far from me, and have walked after vanity, and are become vain?
This is what the LORD says: “What fault did your fathers find in Me that they
strayed so far from Me, and followed worthless idols, and became worthless themselves?
How canst thou say, I am not
polluted, I have not
gone after
Baalim? see thy way in the valley, know what thou hast done: thou art a swift
dromedary traversing her ways;
“How can you say, ‘I am not
defiled; I have not run after the Baals’? Look at your
behavior in the valley; acknowledge what you have done. You are a swift young she-
camel galloping here and there,
The LORD said also unto me in the days of
Josiah the king, Hast thou seen that which
backsliding Israel hath done? she is
gone up upon every high mountain and under every green tree, and there hath played the
harlot.
Now in the days of King
Josiah, the LORD said to me, “Have you seen what faithless Israel has done? She has
gone up on every high hill and under every green tree to
prostitute herself there.
The lion is come up from his
thicket, and the destroyer of the Gentiles is on his way; he is
gone forth from his place to make thy land
desolate; and thy cities shall be laid waste, without an inhabitant.
A lion has
gone up from his
thicket, and a destroyer of nations has set out. He has left his
lair to lay waste your land. Your cities will be reduced to ruins and lie uninhabited.
But this people hath a revolting and a
rebellious heart; they are revolted and
gone.
But these people have
stubborn and
rebellious hearts. They have turned aside and
gone away.
For the mountains will I take up a
weeping and
wailing, and for the habitations of the wilderness a
lamentation, because they are burned up, so that none can pass through them; neither can men hear the voice of the cattle; both the fowl of the heavens and the beast are fled; they are
gone.
I will take up a
weeping and
wailing for the mountains, a
dirge over the wilderness pasture, for they have been
scorched so no one passes through, and the lowing of cattle is not heard. Both the birds of the air and the beasts have fled; they have
gone away.
But have walked after the imagination of their own heart, and after
Baalim, which their fathers taught them:
Instead, they have followed the
stubbornness of their hearts and
gone after the Baals, as their fathers taught them.”
My tabernacle is
spoiled, and all my cords are broken: my children are
gone forth of me, and they are not: there is none to stretch forth my tent any more, and to set up my curtains.
My tent is destroyed, and all its ropes are
snapped. My sons have departed from me and are no more. I have no one left to pitch my tent or set up my curtains.
Judah mourneth, and the gates thereof
languish; they are black unto the ground; and the cry of Jerusalem is
gone up.
“Judah mourns and her gates
languish. Her people
wail for the land, and a cry goes up from Jerusalem.
Thou hast
forsaken me, saith the LORD, thou art
gone backward: therefore will I stretch out my hand against thee, and destroy thee; I am
weary with
repenting.
You have
forsaken Me, declares the LORD. You have turned your back. So I will stretch out My hand against you and I will destroy you; I am
weary of showing
compassion.
She that hath borne seven languisheth: she hath given up the ghost; her sun is
gone down while it was yet day: she hath been
ashamed and confounded: and the residue of them will I deliver to the sword before their enemies, saith the LORD.
The mother of seven will grow
faint; she will
breathe her last breath. Her sun will set while it is still day; she will be disgraced and
humiliated. And the rest I will put to the sword in the presence of their enemies,” declares the LORD.
For thus saith the LORD touching Shallum the son of
Josiah king of Judah, which reigned instead of
Josiah his father, which went forth out of this place; He shall not return thither any more:
For this is what the LORD says concerning Shallum son of
Josiah, king of Judah, who succeeded his father
Josiah but has
gone forth from this place: “He will never return,
Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts concerning the prophets; Behold, I will feed them with
wormwood, and make them drink the water of gall: for from the prophets of Jerusalem is
profaneness gone forth into all the land.
Therefore this is what the LORD of Hosts says concerning the prophets: “I will feed them
wormwood and give them poisoned water to drink, for from the prophets of Jerusalem
ungodliness has spread throughout the land.”
Behold, the storm of the LORD has
gone out with
fury, a
whirlwind swirling down upon the heads of the wicked.
