For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;
This is
good and pleasing in the sight of God our
Savior,
but with
good deeds, as is proper for women who
profess to worship God.
This is a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work.
Moreover he must have a
good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the
snare of the devil.
Furthermore, he must have a
good reputation with outsiders, so that he will not fall into disgrace and into the
snare of the devil.
Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well.
A
deacon must be the husband of but one wife, a
good manager of his children and of his own household.
For they that have used the office of a
deacon well purchase to themselves a
good degree, and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus.
For those who have served well as deacons acquire for themselves a high standing and great confidence in the faith that is in Christ Jesus.
For every creature of God is
good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with
thanksgiving:
For every creation of God is
good, and nothing that is received with
thanksgiving should be rejected,
If thou put the brethren in
remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a
good minister of Jesus Christ,
nourished up in the words of faith and of
good doctrine,
whereunto thou hast attained.
By pointing out these things to the brothers, you will be a
good servant of Christ Jesus,
nourished by the words of faith and sound instruction that you have followed.
But if any widow have children or nephews, let them learn first to
shew piety at home, and to requite their parents: for that is
good and acceptable before God.
But if a widow has children or grandchildren, they must first learn to show
godliness to their own family and repay their parents, for this is pleasing in the sight of God.
Well reported of for
good works; if she have brought up children, if she have
lodged strangers, if she have washed the saints’ feet, if she have relieved the
afflicted, if she have
diligently followed every
good work.
and well known for
good deeds such as bringing up children,
entertaining strangers, washing the feet of the saints, imparting relief to the
afflicted, and
devoting herself to every
good work.
Likewise also the
good works of some are manifest
beforehand; and they that are otherwise cannot be
hid.
In the same way, good deeds are obvious, and even the ones that are inconspicuous cannot remain hidden.
And they that have believing masters, let them not
despise them, because they are brethren; but rather do them service, because they are faithful and beloved, partakers of the benefit. These things teach and
exhort.
Those who have believing masters should not show disrespect because they are brothers, but should serve them all the more, since those receiving their
good service are beloved believers. Teach and
encourage these principles.
Fight the
good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life,
whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a
good profession before many witnesses.
Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made the good confession before many witnesses.
I give thee charge in the sight of God, who quickeneth all things, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius
Pilate witnessed a
good confession;
I charge you in the presence of God, who gives life to all things, and of Christ Jesus, who made the
good confession in His testimony before Pontius
Pilate:
That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate;
Instruct them to do
good, to be rich in
good works, and to be generous and ready to share,
Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life.
treasuring up for themselves a firm foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is truly life.
That good thing which was committed unto thee keep by the Holy Ghost which dwelleth in us.
Guard the
treasure entrusted to you, with the help of the Holy Spirit who dwells in us.
Thou therefore
endure hardness, as a
good soldier of Jesus Christ.
Join me in suffering, like a good soldier of Christ Jesus.
If a man therefore
purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour,
sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every
good work.
So if
anyone cleanses himself of what is unfit, he will be a vessel for honor:
sanctified, useful to the Master, and prepared for every
good work.
Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
so that the man of God may be complete, fully
equipped for every
good work.
I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh
holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of
good things;
Older women, likewise, are to be
reverent in their
behavior, not slanderers or
addicted to much wine, but teachers of
good.
to be self-
controlled, pure, managers of their households, kind, and
submissive to their own husbands, so that the word of God will not be discredited.
In everything, show
yourself to be an example by doing
good works. In your teaching show
integrity, dignity,
not
stealing from them, but showing all
good faith, so that in every respect they will
adorn the teaching about God our
Savior.
Who gave himself for us, that he might
redeem us from all iniquity, and
purify unto himself a peculiar people,
zealous of
good works.
Put them in mind to be subject to
principalities and powers, to obey magistrates, to be ready to every
good work,
Remind the believers to submit to rulers and authorities, to be
obedient and ready for every
good work,
This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou
affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain
good works. These things are
good and profitable unto men.
This saying is
trustworthy. And I want you to
emphasize these things, so that those who have believed God will take care to
devote themselves to
good deeds. These things are excellent and profitable for the people.
And let ours also learn to maintain good works for necessary uses, that they be not unfruitful.
And our people must also learn to
devote themselves to
good works in order to meet the pressing needs of others, so that they will not be unfruitful.
That the communication of thy faith may become
effectual by the acknowledging of every
good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.
I pray that your
partnership in the faith may become effective as you fully acknowledge every
good thing that is ours in Christ.
But without thy mind would I do nothing; that thy benefit should not be as it were of necessity, but willingly.
But I did not want to do anything without your consent, so that your
goodness will not be out of
compulsion, but by your own free will.
For perhaps he therefore departed for a season, that thou shouldest receive him for ever;
For perhaps this is why he was separated from you for a while, so that you might have him back for good—
For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.
For we also received the
good news just as they did; but the message they heard was of no value to them, since they did not share the faith of those who
comprehended it.
Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief:
Since, then, it remains for some to enter His rest, and since those who formerly heard the good news did not enter because of their disobedience,
But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to
discern both
good and evil.
But solid food is for the
mature, who by constant use have trained their senses to distinguish
good from evil.
And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,
who have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the coming age—
But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building;
But when Christ came as high priest of the good things that have come, He went through the greater and more perfect tabernacle that is not made by hands and is not a part of this creation.
For the law having a shadow of
good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers
thereunto perfect.
For the law is only a shadow of the
good things to come, not the
realities themselves. It can never, by the same sacrifices offered year after year, make perfect those who draw near to worship.
And let us consider one another to
provoke unto love and to
good works:
And let us consider how to
spur one another on to love and
good deeds.
For by it the elders obtained a good report.
Therefore
sprang there even of one, and him as
good as dead, so many as the stars of the sky in multitude, and as the sand which is by the sea shore innumerable.
And so from one man, and he as
good as dead, came descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as countless as the sand on the
seashore.
And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise:
These were all
commended for their faith, yet they did not receive what was promised.
For they
verily for a few days
chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his
holiness.
Our fathers disciplined us for a short time as they thought best, but God disciplines us for our
good, so that we may share in His
holiness.
Be not carried about with
divers and strange doctrines. For it is a
good thing that the heart be established with grace; not with meats, which have not profited them that have been occupied therein.
Do not be carried away by all kinds of strange teachings, for it is good for the heart to be strengthened by grace and not by foods of no value to those devoted to them.
But to do
good and to communicate
forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.
And do not neglect to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.
Pray for us: for we trust we have a
good conscience, in all things willing to live
honestly.
Pray for us; we are
convinced that we have a clear conscience and desire to live
honorably in every way.
Make you perfect in every
good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever.
Amen.
equip you with every
good thing to do His will. And may He
accomplish in us what is pleasing in His sight through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory
forever and ever.
Amen.
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.
Every
good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, with whom there is no change or
shifting shadow.
For if there come unto your assembly a man with a gold ring, in
goodly apparel, and there come in also a poor man in
vile raiment;
Suppose a man comes into your meeting wearing a gold ring and fine clothes, and a poor man in
shabby clothes also comes in.
And ye have respect to him that weareth the gay clothing, and say unto him, Sit thou here in a
good place; and say to the poor, Stand thou there, or sit here under my
footstool:
If you
lavish attention on the man in fine clothes and say, “Here is a seat of honor,” but say to the poor man, “You must stand” or “Sit at my feet,”
What
doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?
What good is it, my brothers, if someone claims to have faith, but has no deeds? Can such faith save him?
And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what
doth it profit?
If one of you tells him, “Go in peace; stay warm and well fed,” but does not provide for his physical needs, what good is that?
Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and
tremble.
You believe that God is one.
Good for you! Even the demons believe that—and
shudder.
Who is a wise man and
endued with knowledge among you? let him
shew out of a
good conversation his works with
meekness of wisdom.
Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show it by his
good conduct, by deeds done in the
humility that comes from wisdom.
But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and
good fruits, without
partiality, and without
hypocrisy.
But the wisdom from above is first of all pure, then peace-loving, gentle,
accommodating, full of mercy and
good fruit, impartial, and
sincere.
Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.
Anyone, then, who knows the right thing to do, yet fails to do it, is guilty of sin.
If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is
gracious.
now that you have tasted that the Lord is good.
Having your conversation
honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your
good works, which they shall behold,
glorify God in the day of
visitation.
Conduct
yourselves with such honor among the Gentiles that, though they
slander you as evildoers, they may see your
good deeds and
glorify God on the day He visits us.
For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of
foolish men:
For it is God’s will that by doing
good you should silence the ignorance of
foolish men.
Servants, be subject to your masters with all fear; not only to the
good and gentle, but also to the
froward.
Servants, submit
yourselves to your masters with all respect, not only to those who are
good and gentle, but even to those who are unreasonable.
For what glory is it, if, when ye be
buffeted for your faults, ye shall take it patiently? but if, when ye do well, and suffer for it, ye take it patiently, this is acceptable with God.
How is it to your credit if you are beaten for doing wrong and you
endure it? But if you suffer for doing
good and you
endure it, this is
commendable before God.
For he that will love life, and see
good days, let him
refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no
guile:
For, “
Whoever would love life and see
good days must keep his tongue from evil and his lips from
deceitful speech.
Let him
eschew evil, and do
good; let him seek peace, and
ensue it.
He must turn from evil and do good; he must seek peace and pursue it.
And who is he that will
harm you, if ye be followers of that which is
good?
Having a
good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be
ashamed that falsely
accuse your
good conversation in Christ.
keeping a clear conscience, so that those who
slander you may be put to shame by your
good behavior in Christ.
For it is better, if the will of God be so, that ye suffer for well doing, than for evil doing.
For it is better, if it is God’s will, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil.
The like figure
whereunto even baptism
doth also now save us (not the putting away of the
filth of the flesh, but the answer of a
good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:
And this water symbolizes the baptism that now saves you also—not the removal of
dirt from the body, but the
pledge of a clear conscience toward God—through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,
As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as
good stewards of the
manifold grace of God.
As
good stewards of the
manifold grace of God, each of you should use whatever gift he has received to serve one another.
Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful
Creator.
So then, those who suffer according to God’s will should
entrust their souls to their faithful
Creator and continue to do
good.
But
whoso hath this world’s
good, and
seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his
bowels of
compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?
If
anyone with earthly possessions sees his brother in need, but withholds his
compassion from him, how can the love of God
abide in him?
Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest
prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.
Beloved, I pray that in every way you may
prosper and enjoy
good health, as your soul also prospers.
Beloved, follow not that which is evil, but that which is good. He that doeth good is of God: but he that doeth evil hath not seen God.
Beloved, do not
imitate what is evil, but what is
good. The one who does
good is of God; the one who does evil has not seen God.
Demetrius hath
good report of all men, and of the truth itself:
yea, and we also bear record; and ye know that our record is true.
Demetrius has received a
good testimony from
everyone, and from the truth itself. We also
testify for him, and you know that our testimony is true.
Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with
goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art
wretched, and
miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:
You say, ‘I am rich; I have grown wealthy and need nothing.’ But you do not
realize that you are
wretched,
pitiful, poor, blind, and naked.
And the fruits that thy soul
lusted after are departed from thee, and all things which were
dainty and
goodly are departed from thee, and thou shalt find them no more at all.
And they will say: “The fruit of your soul’s desire has departed from you; all your
luxury and
splendor have
vanished, never to be seen again.”
And they
roasted the
passover with fire, as appertaineth: as for the sacrifices, they
sod them in brass pots and pans with a
good savour,
Yea, and if men have gathered together gold and silver, or any other
goodly thing, do they not love a woman which is comely in favour and beauty?
And
letting all those things go, do they not
gape, and even with open mouth fix their eyes fast on her; and have not all men more desire unto her than unto silver or gold, or any
goodly thing
whatsoever?
And now, O lord the king, this is that which I require, and which I desire of thee, and this is the princely
liberality proceeding from
thyself: I desire therefore that thou make
good the
vow, the performance
whereof with thine own mouth thou hast
vowed to the King of heaven.
Now therefore, if it seem good unto the king, let search be made among the records of king Cyrus:
And he commanded that
whosoever should
transgress,
yea, or make light of any thing
afore spoken or written, out of his own house should a tree be taken, and he
thereon be
hanged, and all his
goods seized for the king.
As many therefore as have a mind
thereunto, let them depart with thee, as it hath seemed
good both to me and my seven friends the counsellors;
Moreover ye shall never seek to have peace with them, that ye may be strong, and eat the
good things of the land, and that ye may leave the inheritance of the land unto your children for
evermore.
How long shall I
forbear them, into whom I have done so much
good?
Take heaven and earth to witness; for I have broken the evil in pieces, and created the good: for I live, saith the Lord.
Thus
infirmity was made permanent; and the law (also) in the heart of the people with the
malignity of the root; so that the
good departed away, and the evil abode still.
If therefore that which is sown be not turned
upside down, and if the place where the evil is sown pass not away, then cannot it come that is sown with
good.
And therefore hath he sent me to
shew thee all these things, and to say unto thee, Be of
good comfort and fear not
There is also another thing; A city is builded, and set upon a broad field, and is full of all good things:
And the work shall follow, and the reward shall be shewed, and the good deeds shall be of force, and wicked deeds shall bear no rule.
And he pardoneth; for if he did not so of his
goodness, that they which have committed
iniquities might be eased of them, the ten
thousandth part of men should not remain living.
For the just, which have many good works laid up with thee, shall out of their own deeds receive reward.
For in this, O Lord, thy righteousness and thy
goodness shall be declared, if thou be
merciful unto them which have not the confidence of
good works.
For as the
husbandman soweth much seed upon the ground, and planteth many trees, and yet the thing that is sown
good in his season cometh not up, neither
doth all that is planted take root: even so is it of them that are sown in the world; they shall not all be saved.
