But if he wash them not, nor
bathe his flesh; then he shall bear
his iniquity.
But if he does not wash
his clothes and
bathe himself, then he shall bear
his iniquity.”
Thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy father’s brother, thou shalt not approach to
his wife: she is thine
aunt.
You must not dishonor your father’s brother by approaching
his wife to have sexual relations with her; she is your
aunt.
For
whosoever shall commit any of these abominations, even the souls that commit them shall be cut off from among their people.
Therefore
anyone who commits any of these abominations must be cut off from among
his people.
Ye shall fear every man his mother, and his father, and keep my sabbaths: I am the LORD your God.
Each of you must respect his mother and father, and you must keep My Sabbaths. I am the LORD your God.
Therefore every one that eateth it shall bear
his iniquity, because he hath
profaned the
hallowed thing of the LORD: and that soul shall be cut off from among
his people.
Whoever eats it will bear
his iniquity, for he has
profaned what is holy to the LORD. That person must be cut off from
his people.
And he shall bring
his trespass offering unto the LORD, unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, even a ram for a
trespass offering.
The man, however, must bring a ram to the entrance to the Tent of Meeting as his guilt offering to the LORD.
And the priest shall make an
atonement for him with the ram of the
trespass offering before the LORD for
his sin which he hath done: and the sin which he hath done shall be
forgiven him.
The priest shall make
atonement on
his behalf before the LORD with the ram of the guilt offering for the sin he has committed, and he will be
forgiven the sin he has committed.
Again, thou shalt say to the children of Israel,
Whosoever he be of the children of Israel, or of the strangers that
sojourn in Israel, that giveth any of
his seed unto
Molech; he shall surely be put to death: the people of the land shall stone him with stones.
“Tell the Israelites, ‘Any
Israelite or foreigner living in Israel who gives any of
his children to
Molech must be put to death. The people of the land are to stone him.
And I will set my face against that man, and will cut him off from among
his people; because he hath given of
his seed unto
Molech, to
defile my sanctuary, and to
profane my holy name.
And I will set My face against that man and cut him off from
his people, because by giving
his offspring to
Molech, he has
defiled My sanctuary and
profaned My holy name.
And if the people of the land do any ways hide their eyes from the man, when he giveth of
his seed unto
Molech, and kill him not:
And if the people of the land ever hide their eyes and fail to put to death the man who gives one of
his children to
Molech,
Then I will set my face against that man, and against
his family, and will cut him off, and all that go a
whoring after him, to commit
whoredom with
Molech, from among their people.
then I will set My face against that man and
his family and cut off from among their people both him and all who follow him in
prostituting themselves with
Molech.
And the soul that turneth after such as have familiar spirits, and after wizards, to go a
whoring after them, I will even set my face against that soul, and will cut him off from among
his people.
Whoever turns to mediums or spiritists to
prostitute himself with them, I will also set My face against that person and cut him off from
his people.
For every one that curseth
his father or
his mother shall be surely put to death: he hath
cursed his father or
his mother;
his blood shall be upon him.
If
anyone curses
his father or mother, he must be put to death. He has
cursed his father or mother;
his blood shall be upon him.
And the man that committeth
adultery with another man’s wife, even he that committeth
adultery with
his neighbour’s wife, the
adulterer and the
adulteress shall surely be put to death.
And the man that lieth with his father’s wife hath uncovered his father’s nakedness: both of them shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.
If a man lies with his father’s wife, he has uncovered his father’s nakedness. Both must surely be put to death; their blood is upon them.
And if a man lie with his daughter in law, both of them shall surely be put to death: they have wrought confusion; their blood shall be upon them.
If a man lies with
his daughter-in-law, both must surely be put to death. They have acted
perversely; their blood is upon them.
And if a man shall take his sister, his father’s daughter, or his mother’s daughter, and see her nakedness, and she see his nakedness; it is a wicked thing; and they shall be cut off in the sight of their people: he hath uncovered his sister’s nakedness; he shall bear his iniquity.
If a man marries his sister, whether the daughter of his father or of his mother, and they have sexual relations, it is a disgrace. They must be cut off in the sight of their people. He has uncovered the nakedness of his sister; he shall bear his iniquity.
And thou shalt not uncover the nakedness of thy mother’s sister, nor of thy father’s sister: for he uncovereth
his near
kin: they shall bear their iniquity.
You must not have sexual relations with the sister of your mother or your father, for it is
exposing one’s own
kin; both shall bear their iniquity.
And if a man shall lie with his uncle’s wife, he hath uncovered his uncle’s nakedness: they shall bear their sin; they shall die childless.
If a man lies with his uncle’s wife, he has uncovered the nakedness of his uncle. They will bear their sin; they shall die childless.
And if a man shall take his brother’s wife, it is an unclean thing: he hath uncovered his brother’s nakedness; they shall be childless.
If a man marries his brother’s wife, it is an act of impurity. He has uncovered the nakedness of his brother; they shall be childless.
And the LORD said unto Moses, Speak unto the priests the sons of Aaron, and say unto them, There shall none be
defiled for the dead among
his people:
Then the LORD said to Moses, “Speak to Aaron’s sons, the priests, and tell them that a priest is not to
defile himself for a dead person among
his people,
But for
his kin, that is near unto him, that is, for
his mother, and for
his father, and for
his son, and for
his daughter, and for
his brother,
except for his immediate family—his mother, father, son, daughter, or brother,
And for
his sister a virgin, that is
nigh unto him, which hath had no husband; for her may he be
defiled.
or his unmarried sister who is near to him, since she has no husband.
But he shall not
defile himself, being a chief man among
his people, to
profane himself.
He is not to
defile himself for those related to him by marriage, and so
profane himself.
They shall not take a wife that is a
whore, or
profane; neither shall they take a woman put away from her husband: for he is holy unto
his God.
And he that is the high priest among
his brethren, upon whose head the
anointing oil was poured, and that is consecrated to put on the garments, shall not uncover
his head, nor
rend his clothes;
The priest who is highest among
his brothers, who has had the
anointing oil poured on
his head and has been ordained to wear the priestly garments, must not let
his hair
hang loose or
tear his garments.
Neither shall he go in to any dead body, nor
defile himself for
his father, or for
his mother;
He must not go near any dead body; he must not
defile himself, even for
his father or mother.
Neither shall he go out of the sanctuary, nor
profane the sanctuary of
his God; for the crown of the
anointing oil of
his God is upon him: I am the LORD.
A widow, or a
divorced woman, or
profane, or an
harlot, these shall he not take: but he shall take a virgin of
his own people to wife.
Neither shall he
profane his seed among
his people: for I the LORD do
sanctify him.
so that he does not
defile his offspring among
his people, for I am the LORD who sanctifies him.”
Speak unto Aaron, saying,
Whosoever he be of thy seed in their generations that hath any
blemish, let him not approach to offer the bread of
his God.
“Say to Aaron, ‘For the generations to come, none of your descendants who has a physical defect may approach to offer the food of his God.
No man that hath a
blemish of the seed of Aaron the priest shall come
nigh to offer the offerings of the LORD made by fire: he hath a
blemish; he shall not come
nigh to offer the bread of
his God.
No
descendant of Aaron the priest who has a defect shall approach to present the offerings made by fire to the LORD. Since he has a defect, he is not to come near to offer the food of
his God.
He shall eat the bread of his God, both of the most holy, and of the holy.
He may eat the most holy food of his God as well as the holy food,
And Moses told it unto Aaron, and to his sons, and unto all the children of Israel.
Moses told this to Aaron and his sons and to all the Israelites.
Speak unto Aaron and to
his sons, that they separate themselves from the holy things of the children of Israel, and that they
profane not my holy name in those things which they
hallow unto me: I am the LORD.
“Tell Aaron and
his sons to treat with respect the sacred offerings that the Israelites have consecrated to Me, so that they do not
profane My holy name. I am the LORD.
Say unto them,
Whosoever he be of all your seed among your generations, that goeth unto the holy things, which the children of Israel
hallow unto the LORD, having
his uncleanness upon him, that soul shall be cut off from my presence: I am the LORD.
Tell them that for the generations to come, if any of their descendants in a state of uncleanness approaches the sacred offerings that the Israelites
consecrate to the LORD, that person must be cut off from My presence. I am the LORD.
The soul which hath touched any such shall be unclean until even, and shall not eat of the holy things, unless he wash his flesh with water.
the man who touches any of these will remain unclean until evening. He must not eat from the sacred offerings unless he has bathed himself with water.
And when the sun is down, he shall be clean, and shall afterward eat of the holy things; because it is his food.
When the sun has set, he will become clean, and then he may eat from the sacred offerings, for they are his food.
There shall no stranger eat of the holy thing: a
sojourner of the priest, or an
hired servant, shall not eat of the holy thing.
No one outside a priest’s family may eat the sacred offering, nor may the
guest of a priest or
his hired hand eat it.
But if the priest
buy any soul with
his money, he shall eat of it, and he that is born in
his house: they shall eat of
his meat.
But if a priest buys a slave with his own money, or if a slave is born in his household, that slave may eat his food.
Speak unto Aaron, and to
his sons, and unto all the children of Israel, and say unto them,
Whatsoever he be of the house of Israel, or of the strangers in Israel, that will offer
his oblation for all
his vows, and for all
his freewill offerings, which they will offer unto the LORD for a burnt offering;
“Speak to Aaron and
his sons and all the Israelites and tell them, ‘Any man of the house of Israel or any foreign resident who presents a gift for a burnt offering to the LORD, whether to
fulfill a
vow or as a
freewill offering,
When a man presents a peace offering to the LORD from the
herd or flock to
fulfill a
vow or as a
freewill offering, it must be without
blemish or defect to be acceptable.
Either a
bullock or a lamb that hath any thing
superfluous or lacking in
his parts, that mayest thou offer for a
freewill offering; but for a
vow it shall not be accepted.
For
whatsoever soul it be that shall not be
afflicted in that same day, he shall be cut off from among
his people.
If
anyone does not humble himself on this day, he must be cut off from
his people.
And
whatsoever soul it be that doeth any work in that same day, the same soul will I destroy from among
his people.
I will destroy from among
his people
anyone who does any work on this day.
These are the feasts of the LORD, which ye shall
proclaim to be holy convocations, to offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD, a burnt offering, and a meat offering, a sacrifice, and drink offerings, every thing upon
his day:
These are the LORD’s appointed feasts, which you are to
proclaim as sacred
assemblies for presenting offerings by fire to the LORD—burnt offerings and grain offerings, sacrifices and drink offerings, each on its designated day.
And it shall be Aaron’s and his sons’; and they shall eat it in the holy place: for it is most holy unto him of the offerings of the LORD made by fire by a perpetual statute.
It belongs to Aaron and
his sons, who are to eat it in a holy place; for it is to him a most holy part of the offerings made by fire to the LORD—
his portion
forever.”
And the
Israelitish woman’s son
blasphemed the name of the LORD, and
cursed. And they brought him unto Moses: (and
his mother’s name was Shelomith, the daughter of Dibri, of the tribe of
Dan:)
The son of the
Israelite woman
blasphemed the Name with a
curse. So they brought him to Moses. (
His mother’s name was Shelomith daughter of Dibri, of the tribe of
Dan.)
Bring forth him that hath
cursed without the camp; and let all that heard him lay their hands upon
his head, and let all the congregation stone him.
“Take the
blasphemer outside the camp, and have all who heard him lay their hands on
his head; then have the whole assembly stone him.
And thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel, saying,
Whosoever curseth
his God shall bear
his sin.
And you are to tell the Israelites, ‘If
anyone curses
his God, he shall bear the consequences of
his sin.
And if a man cause a
blemish in
his neighbour; as he hath done, so shall it be done to him;
If
anyone injures
his neighbor, whatever he has done must be done to him:
And ye shall
hallow the
fiftieth year, and
proclaim liberty throughout all the land unto all the inhabitants thereof: it shall be a jubile unto you; and ye shall return every man unto
his possession, and ye shall return every man unto
his family.
So you are to
consecrate the
fiftieth year and
proclaim liberty in the land for all its inhabitants. It shall be your
Jubilee, when each of you is to return to
his property and to
his clan.
In the year of this jubile ye shall return every man unto his possession.
In this Year of
Jubilee, each of you shall return to
his own property.
If thy brother be
waxen poor, and hath sold away some of
his possession, and if any of
his kin come to
redeem it, then shall he
redeem that which
his brother sold.
If your brother becomes
impoverished and sells some of
his property,
his nearest of
kin may come and
redeem what
his brother has sold.
And if the man have none to
redeem it, and himself be able to
redeem it;
Or if a man has no one to
redeem it for him, but he prospers and acquires enough to
redeem his land,
Then let him count the years of the sale thereof, and restore the
overplus unto the man to whom he sold it; that he may return unto
his possession.
he shall
calculate the years since its sale, repay the balance to the man to whom he sold it, and return to
his property.
But if he be not able to restore it to him, then that which is sold shall remain in the hand of him that hath bought it until the year of jubile: and in the jubile it shall go out, and he shall return unto his possession.
But if he cannot obtain enough to repay him, what he sold will remain in possession of the
buyer until the Year of
Jubilee. In the
Jubilee, however, it is to be released, so that he may return to
his property.
And if a man sell a dwelling house in a walled city, then he may
redeem it within a whole year after it is sold; within a full year may he
redeem it.
If a man sells a house in a walled city, he retains
his right of
redemption until a full year after its sale; during that year it may be redeemed.
And if it be not redeemed within the space of a full year, then the house that is in the walled city shall be established for ever to him that bought it throughout his generations: it shall not go out in the jubile.
If it is not redeemed by the end of a full year, then the house in the walled city is permanently transferred to its
buyer and
his descendants. It is not to be released in the
Jubilee.
And if a man purchase of the Levites, then the house that was sold, and the city of his possession, shall go out in the year of jubile: for the houses of the cities of the Levites are their possession among the children of Israel.
So whatever belongs to the Levites may be redeemed—a house sold in a city they possess—and must be released in the
Jubilee, because the houses in the cities of the Levites are their possession among the Israelites.
And then shall he depart from thee, both he and his children with him, and shall return unto his own family, and unto the possession of his fathers shall he return.
Then he and his children are to be released, and he may return to his clan and to the property of his fathers.
And ye shall take them as an inheritance for your children after you, to
inherit them for a possession; they shall be your
bondmen for ever: but over your brethren the children of Israel, ye shall not rule one over another with rigour.
You may leave them to your sons after you to
inherit as property; you can make them slaves for life. But as for your brothers, the Israelites, no man may rule harshly over
his brother.
And if a
sojourner or stranger wax rich by thee, and thy brother that dwelleth by him wax poor, and sell himself unto the stranger or
sojourner by thee, or to the stock of the stranger’s family:
If a foreigner residing among you prospers, but your
countryman dwelling near him becomes destitute and sells himself to the foreigner or to a member of
his clan,
After that he is sold he may be redeemed again; one of
his brethren may
redeem him:
he retains the right of
redemption after he has sold himself. One of
his brothers may
redeem him:
Either
his uncle, or
his uncle’s son, may
redeem him, or any that is
nigh of
kin unto him of
his family may
redeem him; or if he be able, he may
redeem himself.
either
his uncle or cousin or any close relative from
his clan may
redeem him. Or if he prospers, he may
redeem himself.
And he shall
reckon with him that bought him from the year that he was sold to him unto the year of jubile: and the price of
his sale shall be according unto the number of years, according to the time of an
hired servant shall it be with him.
He and
his purchaser will then count the time from the year he sold himself up to the Year of
Jubilee. The price of
his sale will be determined by the number of years, based on the daily wages of a
hired hand.
If there be yet many years behind, according unto them he shall give again the price of
his redemption out of the money that he was bought for.
If many years remain, he must pay for
his redemption in proportion to
his purchase price.
And if there remain but few years unto the year of jubile, then he shall count with him, and according unto
his years shall he give him again the price of
his redemption.
And if he be not redeemed in these years, then he shall go out in the year of jubile, both he, and his children with him.
Even if he is not redeemed in any of these ways, he and
his children shall be released in the Year of
Jubilee.
But if he be poorer than thy
estimation, then he shall present himself before the priest, and the priest shall value him; according to
his ability that
vowed shall the priest value him.
But if the one making the
vow is too poor to pay the
valuation, he is to present the person before the priest, who shall set the value according to what the one making the
vow can afford.
And when a man shall
sanctify his house to be holy unto the LORD, then the priest shall estimate it, whether it be good or bad: as the priest shall estimate it, so shall it stand.
Now if a man consecrates his house as holy to the LORD, then the priest shall value it either as good or bad. The price will stand just as the priest values it.
And if he that
sanctified it will
redeem his house, then he shall add the fifth part of the money of thy
estimation unto it, and it shall be
his.
But if he who consecrated
his house redeems it, he must add a fifth to the
assessed value, and it will belong to him.
And if a man shall
sanctify unto the LORD some part of a field of
his possession, then thy
estimation shall be according to the seed thereof: an homer of barley seed shall be valued at fifty shekels of silver.
If a man consecrates to the LORD a
parcel of
his land, then your
valuation shall be proportional to the seed required for it—fifty shekels of silver for every homer of barley seed.
If he
sanctify his field from the year of jubile, according to thy
estimation it shall stand.
If he consecrates
his field during the Year of
Jubilee, the price will stand according to your
valuation.
But if he
sanctify his field after the jubile, then the priest shall
reckon unto him the money according to the years that remain, even unto the year of the jubile, and it shall be
abated from thy
estimation.
But if he consecrates
his field after the
Jubilee, the priest is to
calculate the price in proportion to the years left until the next Year of
Jubilee, so that your
valuation will be reduced.
And if a man
sanctify unto the LORD a field which he hath bought, which is not of the fields of
his possession;
Now if a man consecrates to the LORD a field he has purchased, which is not a part of his own property,
Notwithstanding no devoted thing, that a man shall
devote unto the LORD of all that he hath, both of man and beast, and of the field of
his possession, shall be sold or redeemed: every devoted thing is most holy unto the LORD.
Nothing that a man sets apart to the LORD from all he owns—whether a man, an animal, or his inherited land—can be sold or redeemed; everything so devoted is most holy to the LORD.
And if a man will at all
redeem ought of
his tithes, he shall add
thereto the fifth part thereof.
If a man wishes to
redeem part of
his tithe, he must add a fifth to its value.
And with you there shall be a man of every tribe; every one head of the house of his fathers.
And one man from each tribe, the head of each family, must be there with you.
These are those that were numbered, which Moses and Aaron numbered, and the princes of Israel, being twelve men: each one was for the house of his fathers.
These were the men numbered by Moses and Aaron, with the assistance of the twelve leaders of Israel, each one representing his family.
And the children of Israel shall pitch their tents, every man by his own camp, and every man by his own standard, throughout their hosts.
The Israelites are to camp by their divisions, each man in his own camp and under his own standard.
Every man of the children of Israel shall pitch by
his own standard, with the
ensign of their father’s house: far off about the tabernacle of the congregation shall they pitch.
“The Israelites are to camp around the Tent of Meeting at a distance from it, each man under his standard, with the banners of his family.
And
his host, and those that were numbered of them, were
threescore and fourteen thousand and six hundred.
The leader of the descendants of Judah is Nahshon son of
Amminadab, and
his division numbers 74,600.
And his host, and those that were numbered thereof, were fifty and four thousand and four hundred.
and his division numbers 54,400.
And his host, and those that were numbered thereof, were fifty and seven thousand and four hundred.
and his division numbers 57,400.
And his host, and those that were numbered thereof, were forty and six thousand and five hundred.
The leader of the Reubenites is Elizur son of Shedeur, and his division numbers 46,500.
And his host, and those that were numbered of them, were fifty and nine thousand and three hundred.
and his division numbers 59,300.
And his host, and those that were numbered of them, were forty and five thousand and six hundred and fifty.
and his division numbers 45,650.
Then the tabernacle of the congregation shall set forward with the camp of the Levites in the midst of the camp: as they
encamp, so shall they set forward, every man in
his place by their standards.
In the middle of the camps, the Tent of Meeting is to travel with the camp of the Levites. They are to set out in the order they
encamped, each in
his own place under
his standard.
And his host, and those that were numbered of them, were forty thousand and five hundred.
The leader of the Ephraimites is Elishama son of Ammihud, and his division numbers 40,500.
And his host, and those that were numbered of them, were thirty and two thousand and two hundred.
and his division numbers 32,200.
And his host, and those that were numbered of them, were thirty and five thousand and four hundred.
and his division numbers 35,400.
And
his host, and those that were numbered of them, were
threescore and two thousand and seven hundred.
The leader of the Danites is Ahiezer son of Ammishaddai, and his division numbers 62,700.
And his host, and those that were numbered of them, were forty and one thousand and five hundred.
and his division numbers 41,500.
And his host, and those that were numbered of them, were fifty and three thousand and four hundred.
and his division numbers 53,400.
And the children of Israel did according to all that the LORD commanded Moses: so they pitched by their standards, and so they set forward, every one after their families, according to the house of their fathers.
So the Israelites did everything the LORD commanded Moses; they camped under their standards in this way and set out in the same way, each man with his clan and his family.
And they shall keep his charge, and the charge of the whole congregation before the tabernacle of the congregation, to do the service of the tabernacle.
They are to perform duties for him and for the whole congregation before the Tent of Meeting, attending to the service of the tabernacle.
And thou shalt give the Levites unto Aaron and to his sons: they are wholly given unto him out of the children of Israel.
Assign the Levites to Aaron and
his sons; they have been given exclusively to him from among the Israelites.
And thou shalt
appoint Aaron and
his sons, and they shall wait on their priest’s office: and the stranger that cometh
nigh shall be put to death.
So you shall
appoint Aaron and
his sons to carry out the duties of the priesthood; but any outsider who approaches the tabernacle must be put to death.”
