And there came a fear on all: and they
glorified God, saying, That a great prophet is risen up among us; and, That God hath visited
his people.

And stood at
his feet behind him
weeping, and began to wash
his feet with tears, and did
wipe them with the hairs of her head, and
kissed his feet, and
anointed them with the
ointment.
As she stood behind Him at
His feet
weeping, she began to wet
His feet with her tears and
wipe them with her hair. Then she
kissed His feet and
anointed them with the
perfume.
A
sower went out to
sow his seed: and as he
sowed, some fell by the way side; and it was
trodden down, and the fowls of the air
devoured it.
“A farmer went out to
sow his seed. And as he was
sowing, some seed fell along the path, where it was
trampled, and the birds of the air
devoured it.
And his disciples asked him, saying, What might this parable be?
Then His disciples asked Him what this parable meant.
Then came to him his mother and his brethren, and could not come at him for the press.
Then Jesus’ mother and brothers came to see Him, but they were unable to reach Him because of the crowd.
Now it came to pass on a certain day, that he went into a ship with
his disciples: and he said unto them, Let us go over unto the other side of the lake. And they
launched forth.

Then they went out to see what was done; and came to Jesus, and found the man, out of whom the devils were departed, sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid.
So the people went out to see what had happened. They came to Jesus and found the man whom the demons had left, sitting at Jesus’ feet, clothed and in his right mind; and they were afraid.
Return to thine own house, and
shew how great things God hath done unto thee. And he went
his way, and published throughout the whole city how great things Jesus had done unto him.

And, behold, there came a man named Jairus, and he was a ruler of the

besought him that he would come into
his house:

begged Him to come to
his house,
For he had one only daughter, about twelve years of age, and she lay a dying. But as he went the people
thronged him.
because his only daughter, who was about twelve, was dying. As Jesus went with him, the crowds pressed around Him,
Came behind him, and touched the border of
his garment: and immediately her issue of blood
stanched.
She came up behind Jesus and touched the
fringe of
His cloak, and immediately her
bleeding stopped.
Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases.
Then Jesus called the Twelve together and gave them power and authority over all demons, and power to cure diseases.
For they were about five thousand men. And he said to
his disciples, Make them sit down by
fifties in a company.
(There were about five thousand men.) He told His disciples, “Have them sit down in groups of about fifty each.”
And it came to pass, as he was alone praying, his disciples were with him: and he asked them, saying, Whom say the people that I am?
One day as Jesus was praying in private and the disciples were with Him, He questioned them: “Who do the crowds say I am?”
And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.
Then Jesus said to all of them, “If
anyone wants to come after Me, he must deny himself and take up
his cross daily and follow Me.
For
whosoever will save
his life shall lose it: but
whosoever will lose
his life for my sake, the same shall save it.
For
whoever wants to save
his life will lose it, but
whoever loses
his life for My sake will save it.
For what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lose himself, or be cast away?
What does it profit a man to gain the whole world, yet lose or
forfeit his very self?
For
whosoever shall be
ashamed of me and of my words, of him shall the Son of man be
ashamed, when he shall come in
his own glory, and in
his Father’s, and of the holy angels.
If
anyone is
ashamed of Me and My words, the Son of Man will be
ashamed of him when He comes in
His glory and in the glory of the Father and of the holy angels.
And as he prayed, the fashion of
his countenance was altered, and
his raiment was white and
glistering.
And as He was praying, the appearance of
His face changed, and
His clothes became
radiantly white.
Who appeared in glory, and spake of
his decease which he should
accomplish at Jerusalem.
They appeared in glory and spoke about
His departure, which He was about to
accomplish at Jerusalem.
But Peter and they that were with him were heavy with sleep: and when they were
awake, they saw
his glory, and the two men that stood with him.
Meanwhile Peter and
his companions were overcome by sleep, but when they
awoke, they saw Jesus’ glory and the two men standing with Him.
And as he was yet a coming, the devil threw him down, and
tare him. And Jesus
rebuked the unclean spirit, and
healed the child, and delivered him again to
his father.
Even while the boy was approaching, the
demon slammed him to the ground in a
convulsion. But Jesus
rebuked the unclean spirit,
healed the boy, and gave him back to
his father.
And they were all
amazed at the mighty power of God. But while they wondered every one at all things which Jesus did, he said unto
his disciples,
And they were all
astonished at the greatness of God. While
everyone was
marveling at all that Jesus was doing, He said to
His disciples,
And it came to pass, when the time was come that he should be received up, he
stedfastly set
his face to go to Jerusalem,
And sent messengers before
his face: and they went, and entered into a village of the
Samaritans, to make ready for him.
He sent messengers on
ahead, who went into a village of the
Samaritans to make arrangements for Him.
And they did not receive him, because his face was as though he would go to Jerusalem.
But the people there refused to
welcome Him, because He was heading for Jerusalem.
And when
his disciples James and John saw this, they said, Lord,
wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and
consume them, even as Elias did?
When the disciples James and John saw this, they asked, “Lord, do You want us to call down fire from heaven to
consume them?”
For the Son of man is not come to destroy men’s lives, but to save them. And they went to another village.
And He and His disciples went on to another village.
And Jesus said unto him, Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.
Jesus replied, “Foxes have dens and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay His head.”
And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put
his hand to the
plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.
Then Jesus declared, “No one who puts
his hand to the
plow and then looks back is fit for the kingdom of God.”
After these things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before
his face into every city and place,
whither he himself would come.
After this, the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them two by two
ahead of Him to every town and place He was about to visit.
Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.
And He told them, “The harvest is
plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into
His harvest.
And in the same house remain, eating and drinking such things as they give: for the labourer is worthy of
his hire. Go not from house to house.
Stay at the same house, eating and drinking whatever you are offered. For the worker is worthy of his wages. Do not move around from house to house.
And he turned him unto his disciples, and said privately, Blessed are the eyes which see the things that ye see:
Then Jesus turned to the disciples and said privately, “Blessed are the eyes that see what you see.
And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to
Jericho, and fell among
thieves, which
stripped him of
his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.
Jesus took up this question and said, “A man was going down from Jerusalem to
Jericho when he fell into the hands of robbers. They
stripped him, beat him, and went away, leaving him half dead.
And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.
He went to him and
bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put him on
his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him.
And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus’ feet, and heard his word.
She had a sister named Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet
listening to
His message.
And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.
One day in a place where Jesus had just finished praying, one of His disciples requested, “Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.”
And he said unto them, Which of you shall have a friend, and shall go unto him at
midnight, and say unto him, Friend,
lend me three
loaves;
Then Jesus said to them, “Suppose one of you goes to
his friend at
midnight and says, ‘Friend,
lend me three
loaves of bread,
For a friend of mine in his journey is come to me, and I have nothing to set before him?
because a friend of mine has come to me on a journey, and I have nothing to set before him.’
I say unto you, Though he will not rise and give him, because he is
his friend, yet because of
his importunity he will rise and give him as many as he needeth.
I tell you, even though he will not get up to provide for him because of
his friendship, yet because of the man’s
persistence, he will get up and give him as much as he needs.
If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent?
What father among you, if
his son asks for a fish, will give him a
snake instead?
If
Satan also be divided against himself, how shall
his kingdom stand? because ye say that I cast out devils through
Beelzebub.
If
Satan is divided against himself, how can
his kingdom stand? After all, you say that I drive out demons by Beelzebul.
When a strong man armed keepeth his palace, his goods are in peace:
When a strong man, fully armed, guards his house, his possessions are secure.
But when a stronger than he shall come upon him, and overcome him, he taketh from him all his armour wherein he trusted, and divideth his spoils.
But when someone stronger attacks and overpowers him, he takes away the
armor in which the man trusted, and then he divides up
his plunder.
Laying wait for him, and seeking to catch something out of
his mouth, that they might
accuse him.
waiting to catch Him in something He might say.
In the mean time, when there were gathered together an innumerable multitude of people,
insomuch that they
trode one upon another, he began to say unto
his disciples first of all,
Beware ye of the
leaven of the
Pharisees, which is
hypocrisy.
In the meantime, a crowd of many thousands had gathered, so that they were
trampling one another. Jesus began to speak first to
His disciples: “
Beware of the
leaven of the
Pharisees, which is
hypocrisy.
And he said unto them, Take
heed, and
beware of
covetousness: for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.
And He said to them, “Watch out! Guard
yourselves against every form of
greed, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of
his possessions.”
And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on.
Then Jesus said to
His disciples, “Therefore I tell you, do not
worry about your life, what you will eat, or about your body, what you will wear.
And which of you with taking thought can add to
his stature one
cubit?
Who of you by
worrying can add a single hour to
his life?
Consider the
lilies how they grow: they
toil not, they
spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all
his glory was not
arrayed like one of these.
Consider how the
lilies grow: They do not labor or
spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all
his glory was adorned like one of these.
But rather seek ye the kingdom of God; and all these things shall be added unto you.
But seek His kingdom, and these things will be added unto you.
And this know, that if the
goodman of the house had known what hour the
thief would come, he would have watched, and not have suffered
his house to be broken through.
But understand this: If the homeowner had known at what hour the
thief was coming, he would not have let
his house be broken into.
And the Lord said, Who then is that faithful and wise
steward, whom
his lord shall make ruler over
his household, to give them their portion of meat in due season?
And the Lord answered, “Who then is the faithful and wise
manager, whom the master puts in charge of
his servants to give them their portion at the proper time?
Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.
Blessed is that servant whose master finds him doing so when he returns.
Of a truth I say unto you, that he will make him ruler over all that he hath.
Truly I tell you, he will put him in charge of all his possessions.
But and if that servant say in
his heart, My lord delayeth
his coming; and shall begin to beat the menservants and maidens, and to eat and drink, and to be
drunken;
But suppose that servant says in
his heart, ‘My master will be a long time in coming,’ and he begins to beat the menservants and maidservants, and to eat and drink and get
drunk.
The lord of that servant will come in a day when he looketh not for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in
sunder, and will
appoint him
his portion with the unbelievers.
The master of that servant will come on a day he does not expect and at an hour he does not
anticipate. Then he will cut him to pieces and
assign him a place with the unbelievers.
And that servant, which knew his lord’s will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes.
That servant who knows his master’s will but does not get ready or follow his instructions will be beaten with many blows.
He spake also this parable; A certain man had a fig tree planted in
his vineyard; and he came and sought fruit
thereon, and found none.
Then Jesus told this parable: “A man had a fig tree that was planted in
his vineyard. He went to look for fruit on it, but did not find any.
Then said he unto the dresser of
his vineyard, Behold, these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none: cut it down; why cumbereth it the ground?
So he said to the keeper of the
vineyard, ‘Look, for the past three years I have come to search for fruit on this fig tree and
haven’t found any. Therefore cut it down! Why should it use up the soil?’
And he laid
his hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and
glorified God.
The Lord then answered him, and said, Thou
hypocrite,
doth not each one of you on the sabbath loose
his ox or
his ass from the
stall, and lead him away to watering?
“You hypocrites!” the Lord replied. “Does not each of you on the Sabbath
untie his ox or
donkey from the
stall and lead it to water?
And when he had said these things, all
his adversaries were
ashamed: and all the people
rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by him.
It is like a grain of
mustard seed, which a man took, and cast into
his garden; and it grew, and waxed a great tree; and the fowls of the air
lodged in the branches of it.
It is like a
mustard seed that a man
tossed into
his garden. It grew and became a tree, and the birds of the air nested in its branches.”
And he went through the cities and villages, teaching, and journeying toward Jerusalem.
Then Jesus traveled throughout the towns and villages, teaching as He made His way toward Jerusalem.
And they held their peace. And he took him, and
healed him, and let him go;
But they remained silent. Then Jesus took hold of the man,
healed him, and sent him on
his way.
And sent
his servant at
supper time to say to them that were
bidden, Come; for all things are now ready.
When it was time for the
banquet, he sent
his servant to tell those who had been invited, ‘Come, for everything is now ready.’
So that servant came, and shewed
his lord these things. Then the master of the house being
angry said to
his servant, Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in
hither the poor, and the
maimed, and the
halt, and the blind.
The servant returned and reported all this to
his master. Then the owner of the house became
angry and said to
his servant, ‘Go out quickly into the streets and
alleys of the city, and bring in the poor, the
crippled, the blind, and the
lame.’
And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the
highways and hedges, and
compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.
So the master told
his servant, ‘Go out to the
highways and hedges and
compel them to come in, so that my house will be full.
If any man come to me, and
hate not
his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters,
yea, and
his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.
“If
anyone comes to Me and does not
hate his father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters—
yes, even
his own life—he cannot be My disciple.
And
whosoever doth not bear
his cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple.
And
whoever does not carry
his cross and follow Me cannot be My disciple.
Or what king, going to make war against another king, sitteth not down first, and consulteth whether he be able with ten thousand to meet him that cometh against him with twenty thousand?
Or what king on
his way to war with another king will not first sit down and consider whether he can
engage with ten thousand men the one coming against him with twenty thousand?
Salt is good: but if the salt have lost
his savour,
wherewith shall it be seasoned?
Salt is good, but if the salt loses its
savor, with what will it be seasoned?
And when he hath found it, he layeth it on
his shoulders,
rejoicing.
And when he finds it, he
joyfully puts it on
his shoulders,
And when he cometh home, he calleth together
his friends and neighbours, saying unto them,
Rejoice with me; for I have found my sheep which was lost.
comes home, and calls together
his friends and neighbors to tell them, ‘
Rejoice with me, for I have found my lost sheep!’
And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living.
The younger son said to him, ‘Father, give me my share of the estate.’ So he divided his property between them.
And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took
his journey into a far country, and there wasted
his substance with
riotous living.
After a few days, the younger son got everything together and journeyed to a distant country, where he
squandered his wealth in wild living.
And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country; and he sent him into
his fields to feed
swine.
So he went and
hired himself out to a citizen of that country, who sent him into
his fields to feed the pigs.
And he would
fain have filled
his belly with the
husks that the
swine did eat: and no man gave unto him.
He longed to fill
his belly with the pods the pigs were eating, but no one would give him a thing.
And when he came to himself, he said, How many
hired servants of my father’s have bread enough and to
spare, and I perish with hunger!
Finally he came to
his senses and said, ‘How many of my father’s
hired servants have
plenty of food? But here I am,
starving to death!
And he arose, and came to
his father. But when he was yet a great way off,
his father saw him, and had
compassion, and ran, and fell on
his neck, and
kissed him.
So he got up and went to
his father. But while he was still in the distance,
his father saw him and was filled with
compassion. He ran to
his son, embraced him, and
kissed him.
But the father said to
his servants, Bring forth the best
robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on
his hand, and
shoes on
his feet:
But the father said to
his servants, ‘Quick! Bring the best
robe and put it on him. Put a ring on
his finger and
sandals on
his feet.
Now
his elder son was in the field: and as he came and drew
nigh to the house, he heard musick and dancing.
Meanwhile the older son was in the field, and as he approached the house, he heard music and dancing.
And he was
angry, and would not go in: therefore came
his father out, and intreated him.
The older son became
angry and refused to go in. So
his father came out and
pleaded with him.
And he answering said to
his father, Lo, these many years do I serve thee, neither
transgressed I at any time thy commandment: and yet thou never gavest me a
kid, that I might make
merry with my friends:
But he answered
his father, ‘Look, all these years I have served you and never disobeyed a commandment of yours. Yet you never gave me even a young goat so I could
celebrate with my friends.
And he said also unto
his disciples, There was a certain rich man, which had a
steward; and the same was accused unto him that he had wasted
his goods.
Jesus also said to
His disciples, “There was a rich man whose
manager was accused of wasting
his possessions.
So he called every one of his lord’s debtors unto him, and said unto the first, How much owest thou unto my lord?
And he called in each one of his master’s debtors. ‘How much do you owe my master?’ he asked the first.
The law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it.
The Law and the Prophets were proclaimed until John. Since that time, the gospel of the kingdom of God is being preached, and
everyone is forcing
his way into it.
And there was a certain
beggar named
Lazarus, which was laid at
his gate, full of sores,
And desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man’s table: moreover the dogs came and
licked his sores.
and longing to be fed with the crumbs that fell from the rich man’s table. Even the dogs came and
licked his sores.
In Hades, where he was in
torment, he looked up and saw Abraham from
afar, with
Lazarus by
his side.
And he
cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send
Lazarus, that he may dip the
tip of
his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am
tormented in this flame.
So he
cried out, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me and send
Lazarus to dip the
tip of
his finger in water and cool my tongue. For I am in
agony in this fire.’
Then said he unto the disciples, It is impossible but that offences will come: but
woe unto him, through whom they come!
Jesus said to
His disciples, “It is inevitable that
stumbling blocks will come, but
woe to the one through whom they come!
It were better for him that a
millstone were
hanged about
his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should
offend one of these little ones.
It would be better for him to have a
millstone hung around
his neck and to be thrown into the sea than to cause one of these little ones to
stumble.
And it came to pass, as he went to Jerusalem, that he passed through the midst of Samaria and
Galilee.
While Jesus was on
His way to Jerusalem, He was passing between Samaria and
Galilee.
And fell down on
his face at
his feet, giving him
thanks: and he was a
Samaritan.
For as the
lightning, that lighteneth out of the one part under heaven, shineth unto the other part under heaven; so shall also the Son of man be in
his day.
For just as the
lightning flashes and lights up the sky from one end to the other, so will be the Son of Man in
His day.
