And he brought them to the border of his sanctuary, even to this mountain, which his right hand had purchased.
He brought them to His holy land, to the mountain His right hand had acquired.
And he built his sanctuary like high palaces, like the earth which he hath established for ever.
He built His
sanctuary like the heights, like the earth He has established
forever.
Honour and majesty are before him: strength and beauty are in his sanctuary.
Splendor and majesty are before Him; strength and beauty fill His
sanctuary.
For he hath looked down from the height of his sanctuary; from heaven did the LORD behold the earth;
For He looked down from the heights of His
sanctuary; the LORD
gazed out from heaven to earth
God has spoken from His
sanctuary: “I will triumph! I will
parcel out
Shechem and
apportion the Valley of Succoth.
Judah was his sanctuary, and Israel his dominion.
Judah became God’s sanctuary, and Israel His dominion.
Lift up your hands in the
sanctuary, and
bless the LORD.
Lift up your hands to the
sanctuary and
bless the LORD!
Praise ye the LORD. Praise God in his
sanctuary: praise him in the
firmament of his power.
Hallelujah! Praise God in His
sanctuary. Praise Him in His mighty heavens.
And he shall be for a
sanctuary; but for a stone of
stumbling and for a rock of offence to both the houses of Israel, for a
gin and for a
snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
And He will be a
sanctuary— but to both houses of Israel a stone of
stumbling and a rock of
offense, to the dwellers of Jerusalem a
trap and a
snare.
And it shall come to pass, when it is seen that Moab is
weary on the high place, that he shall come to his
sanctuary to pray; but he shall not prevail.
When Moab appears on the high place, when he wearies himself and enters his sanctuary to pray, it will do him no good.
Therefore I have
profaned the princes of the
sanctuary, and have given Jacob to the
curse, and Israel to reproaches.
So I will disgrace the princes of your
sanctuary, and I will
devote Jacob to destruction and Israel to reproach.”
The glory of
Lebanon shall come unto thee, the
fir tree, the pine tree, and the box together, to
beautify the place of my
sanctuary; and I will make the place of my feet glorious.
For a short while Your people possessed Your holy place, but our enemies have
trampled Your
sanctuary.
A glorious high throne from the beginning is the place of our sanctuary.
A glorious throne,
exalted from the beginning, is the place of our
sanctuary.
The
adversary hath spread out his hand upon all her pleasant things: for she hath seen that the heathen entered into her
sanctuary, whom thou
didst command that they should not enter into thy congregation.
The
adversary has seized all her treasures. For she has seen the nations enter her
sanctuary— those You had forbidden to enter Your assembly.
The Lord hath cast off his altar, he hath
abhorred his
sanctuary, he hath given up into the hand of the enemy the walls of her palaces; they have made a noise in the house of the LORD, as in the day of a solemn feast.
The Lord has rejected His altar; He has abandoned His
sanctuary; He has delivered the walls of her palaces into the hand of the enemy. They have raised a
shout in the house of the LORD as on the day of an appointed feast.
Behold, O LORD, and consider to whom thou hast done this. Shall the women eat their fruit, and children of a span long? shall the priest and the prophet be slain in the sanctuary of the Lord?
Look, O LORD, and consider: Whom have You ever treated like this? Should women eat their offspring, the infants they have
nurtured? Should priests and prophets be killed in the
sanctuary of the Lord?
How is the gold become
dim! how is the most fine gold changed! the stones of the
sanctuary are poured out in the top of every street.
How the gold has become
tarnished, the pure gold has become dull! The
gems of the temple lie scattered on every street corner.
Wherefore, as I live, saith the Lord GOD; Surely, because thou hast
defiled my
sanctuary with all thy
detestable things, and with all thine abominations, therefore will I also diminish thee; neither shall mine eye
spare, neither will I have any
pity.
Therefore as surely as I live, declares the Lord GOD, because you have
defiled My
sanctuary with all your
detestable idols and abominations, I Myself will withdraw My favor; I will not look upon you with
pity, nor will I
spare you.
He said
furthermore unto me, Son of man, seest thou what they do? even the great abominations that the house of Israel committeth here, that I should go far off from my
sanctuary? but turn thee yet again, and thou shalt see greater abominations.
“Son of man,” He said to me, “do you see what they are doing—the great abominations that the house of Israel is
committing—to drive Me far from My
sanctuary? Yet you will see even greater abominations.”
Slay utterly old and young, both maids, and little children, and women: but come not near any man upon whom is the mark; and begin at my
sanctuary. Then they began at the ancient men which were before the house.
Slaughter the old men, the young men and maidens, the women and children; but do not go near
anyone who has the mark. Now begin at My
sanctuary.” So they began with the elders who were before the temple.
Therefore say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Although I have cast them far off among the heathen, and although I have scattered them among the countries, yet will I be to them as a little sanctuary in the countries where they shall come.
Therefore declare that this is what the Lord GOD says: ‘Although I sent them far away among the nations and scattered them among the countries, yet for a little while I have been a sanctuary for them in the countries to which they have gone.’
Moreover this they have done unto me: they have
defiled my
sanctuary in the same day, and have
profaned my sabbaths.
They have also done this to Me: On that very same day, they
defiled My
sanctuary and
profaned My Sabbaths.
For when they had slain their children to their idols, then they came the same day into my
sanctuary to
profane it; and, lo, thus have they done in the midst of mine house.
On the very day they slaughtered their children for their idols, they entered My
sanctuary to
profane it.
Yes, they did this inside My house.
Speak unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will
profane my
sanctuary, the
excellency of your strength, the desire of your eyes, and that which your soul pitieth; and your sons and your daughters whom ye have left shall fall by the sword.
Tell the house of Israel that this is what the Lord GOD says: ‘I am about to
desecrate My
sanctuary, the pride of your power, the desire of your eyes, and the delight of your soul. And the sons and daughters you left behind will fall by the sword.’
And say unto the
Ammonites, Hear the word of the Lord GOD; Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thou saidst,
Aha, against my
sanctuary, when it was
profaned; and against the land of Israel, when it was
desolate; and against the house of Judah, when they went into captivity;
Tell the
Ammonites to hear the word of the Lord GOD, for this is what the Lord GOD says: ‘Because you
exclaimed, “
Aha!” when My
sanctuary was
profaned, when the land of Israel was laid waste, and when the house of Judah went into exile,
Moreover I will make a covenant of peace with them; it shall be an
everlasting covenant with them: and I will place them, and multiply them, and will set my
sanctuary in the midst of them for
evermore.
And I will make a covenant of peace with them; it will be an
everlasting covenant. I will establish them and multiply them, and I will set My
sanctuary among them
forever.
And the heathen shall know that I the LORD do
sanctify Israel, when my
sanctuary shall be in the midst of them for
evermore.
Then the nations will know that I the LORD
sanctify Israel, when My
sanctuary is among them
forever.’”
Afterward he brought me to the temple, and measured the posts, six cubits broad on the one side, and six cubits broad on the other side, which was the breadth of the tabernacle.
Then the man brought me into the outer sanctuary and measured the side pillars to be six cubits wide on each side.
And the breadth of the door was ten cubits; and the sides of the door were five cubits on the one side, and five cubits on the other side: and he measured the length thereof, forty cubits: and the breadth, twenty cubits.
The width of the entrance was ten cubits, and the sides of the entrance were five cubits on each side. He also measured the length of the outer sanctuary to be forty cubits, and the width to be twenty cubits.
Then went he inward, and measured the post of the door, two cubits; and the door, six cubits; and the breadth of the door, seven cubits.
And he went into the inner sanctuary and measured the side pillars at the entrance to be two cubits wide. The entrance was six cubits wide, and the walls on each side were seven cubits wide.
So he measured the length thereof, twenty cubits; and the breadth, twenty cubits, before the temple: and he said unto me, This is the most holy place.
Then he measured the room adjacent to the inner sanctuary to be twenty cubits long and twenty cubits wide. And he said to me, “This is the Most Holy Place.”
And he measured the length of the building over against the separate place which was behind it, and the
galleries thereof on the one side and on the other side, an hundred cubits, with the inner temple, and the porches of the court;
Next he measured the length of the building facing the temple
courtyard at the rear of the temple, including its
galleries on each side; it was a hundred cubits. The outer
sanctuary, the inner
sanctuary, and the
porticoes facing the court,
To that above the door, even unto the inner house, and without, and by all the wall round about within and without, by measure.
In the space above the outside of the entrance to the inner sanctuary on all the walls, spaced evenly around the inner and outer sanctuary,
From the ground unto above the door were cherubims and palm trees made, and on the wall of the temple.
Cherubim and palm trees were carved on the wall of the outer
sanctuary from the floor to the space above the entrance.
The posts of the temple were squared, and the face of the sanctuary; the appearance of the one as the appearance of the other.
The outer sanctuary had a rectangular doorframe, and the doorframe of the sanctuary was similar.
And the temple and the sanctuary had two doors.
Both the outer sanctuary and the inner sanctuary had double doors,
And there were made on them, on the doors of the temple, cherubims and palm trees, like as were made upon the walls; and there were thick planks upon the face of the
porch without.
Cherubim and palm trees like those on the walls were carved on the doors of the outer
sanctuary, and there was a wooden
canopy outside, on the front of the
portico.
He measured it by the four sides: it had a wall round about, five hundred reeds long, and five hundred broad, to make a separation between the
sanctuary and the
profane place.
So he measured the area on all four sides. It had a wall all around, five hundred cubits long and five hundred cubits wide, to separate the holy from the common.
Thou shalt take the
bullock also of the sin offering, and he shall burn it in the appointed place of the house, without the
sanctuary.
Then you are to take away the bull for the sin offering and burn it in the appointed part of the temple area outside the sanctuary.
Then he brought me back the way of the gate of the outward sanctuary which looketh toward the east; and it was shut.
The man then brought me back to the outer gate of the sanctuary that faced east, but it was shut.
And the LORD said unto me, Son of man, mark well, and behold with thine eyes, and hear with thine ears all that I say unto thee concerning all the ordinances of the house of the LORD, and all the laws thereof; and mark well the entering in of the house, with every going forth of the sanctuary.
The LORD said to me: “Son of man, pay attention; look carefully with your eyes and
listen closely with your ears to everything I tell you concerning all the statutes and laws of the house of the LORD. Take careful note of the entrance to the temple, along with all the exits of the
sanctuary.
In that ye have brought into my
sanctuary strangers,
uncircumcised in heart, and
uncircumcised in flesh, to be in my
sanctuary, to
pollute it, even my house, when ye offer my bread, the fat and the blood, and they have broken my covenant because of all your abominations.
In addition to all your other abominations, you brought in foreigners
uncircumcised in both heart and flesh to occupy My
sanctuary; you
defiled My temple when you offered My food—the fat and the blood; you broke My covenant.
And ye have not kept the charge of mine holy things: but ye have set keepers of my charge in my
sanctuary for
yourselves.
And you have not kept charge of My holy things, but have appointed others to keep charge of My sanctuary for you.’
Thus saith the Lord GOD; No stranger,
uncircumcised in heart, nor
uncircumcised in flesh, shall enter into my
sanctuary, of any stranger that is among the children of Israel.
This is what the Lord GOD says: No foreigner
uncircumcised in heart and flesh may enter My
sanctuary—not even a foreigner who lives among the Israelites.
Yet they shall be ministers in my
sanctuary, having charge at the gates of the house, and ministering to the house: they shall
slay the burnt offering and the sacrifice for the people, and they shall stand before them to minister unto them.
Yet they shall be ministers in My sanctuary, having charge of the gates of the temple and ministering there. They shall slaughter the burnt offerings and other sacrifices for the people and stand before them to minister to them.
But the priests the Levites, the sons of
Zadok, that kept the charge of my
sanctuary when the children of Israel went
astray from me, they shall come near to me to minister unto me, and they shall stand before me to offer unto me the fat and the blood, saith the Lord GOD:
But the
Levitical priests, who are descended from
Zadok and who kept charge of My
sanctuary when the Israelites went
astray from Me, are to approach Me to minister before Me. They will stand before Me to offer Me fat and blood, declares the Lord GOD.
They shall enter into my sanctuary, and they shall come near to my table, to minister unto me, and they shall keep my charge.
They alone shall enter My sanctuary and draw near to My table to minister before Me. They will keep My charge.
And in the day that he goeth into the sanctuary, unto the inner court, to minister in the sanctuary, he shall offer his sin offering, saith the Lord GOD.
And on the day he goes into the sanctuary, into the inner court, to minister in the sanctuary, he must present his sin offering, declares the Lord GOD.
Of this there shall be for the sanctuary five hundred in length, with five hundred in breadth, square round about; and fifty cubits round about for the suburbs thereof.
Within this area there is to be a section for the sanctuary 500 cubits square, with 50 cubits around it for open land.
And of this measure shalt thou measure the length of five and twenty thousand, and the breadth of ten thousand: and in it shall be the sanctuary and the most holy place.
From this holy portion, you are to measure off a length of 25,000 cubits and a width of 10,000 cubits, and in it will be the sanctuary, the Most Holy Place.
The holy portion of the land shall be for the priests the ministers of the sanctuary, which shall come near to minister unto the LORD: and it shall be a place for their houses, and an holy place for the sanctuary.
It will be a holy portion of the land to be used by the priests who minister in the sanctuary, who draw near to minister before the LORD. It will be a place for their houses, as well as a holy area for the sanctuary.
Thus saith the Lord GOD; In the first month, in the first day of the month, thou shalt take a young
bullock without
blemish, and
cleanse the
sanctuary:
This is what the Lord GOD says: ‘On the first day of the first month you are to take a young bull without
blemish and
purify the
sanctuary.
And by the river upon the bank thereof, on this side and on that side, shall grow all trees for meat, whose leaf shall not
fade, neither shall the fruit thereof be consumed: it shall bring forth new fruit according to his months, because their waters they issued out of the
sanctuary: and the fruit thereof shall be for meat, and the leaf thereof for medicine.
Along both banks of the river, fruit trees of all kinds will grow. Their leaves will not wither, and their fruit will not fail. Each month they will bear fruit, because the water from the
sanctuary flows to them. Their fruit will be used for food and their leaves for
healing.”
And by the border of Judah, from the east side unto the west side, shall be the offering which ye shall offer of five and twenty thousand reeds in breadth, and in length as one of the other parts, from the east side unto the west side: and the sanctuary shall be in the midst of it.
Bordering the territory of Judah, from east to west, will be the portion you are to set apart. It will be 25,000 cubits wide, and the length of a
tribal portion from east to west. In the center will be the
sanctuary.
And for them, even for the priests, shall be this holy
oblation; toward the north five and twenty thousand in length, and toward the west ten thousand in breadth, and toward the east ten thousand in breadth, and toward the south five and twenty thousand in length: and the
sanctuary of the LORD shall be in the midst thereof.
This will be the holy portion for the priests. It will be 25,000 cubits long on the north side, 10,000 cubits wide on the west side, 10,000 cubits wide on the east side, and 25,000 cubits long on the south side. In the center will be the sanctuary of the LORD.
And the residue shall be for the prince, on the one side and on the other of the holy
oblation, and of the possession of the city, over against the five and twenty thousand of the
oblation toward the east border, and westward over against the five and twenty thousand toward the west border, over against the portions for the prince: and it shall be the holy
oblation; and the
sanctuary of the house shall be in the midst thereof.
The remaining area on both sides of the holy portion and of the property of the city will belong to the prince. He will own the land adjacent to the
tribal portions, extending eastward from the 25,000 cubits of the holy district toward the eastern border, and westward from the 25,000 cubits to the western border. And in the center of them will be the holy portion and the
sanctuary of the temple.
Yea, he
magnified himself even to the prince of the host, and by him the daily sacrifice was taken away, and the place of his
sanctuary was cast down.
It
magnified itself, even to the Prince of the host; it removed His daily sacrifice and overthrew the place of His
sanctuary.
Then I heard one saint speaking, and another saint said unto that certain saint which spake, How long shall be the vision concerning the daily sacrifice, and the
transgression of
desolation, to give both the
sanctuary and the host to be
trodden under foot?
Then I heard a holy one speaking, and another holy one said to him, “How long until the
fulfillment of the vision of the daily sacrifice, the rebellion that causes
desolation, and the surrender of the
sanctuary and of the host to be
trampled?”
And he said unto me, Unto two thousand and three hundred days; then shall the
sanctuary be
cleansed.
He said to me, “It will take 2,300 evenings and mornings; then the sanctuary will be properly restored.”
Now therefore, O our God, hear the prayer of thy servant, and his supplications, and cause thy face to
shine upon thy
sanctuary that is
desolate, for the Lord’s sake.
So now, our God, hear the prayers and petitions of Your servant. For Your sake, O Lord, cause Your face to
shine upon Your
desolate sanctuary.
And after
threescore and two weeks shall
Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the
sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.
Then after the sixty-two weeks the
Messiah will be cut off and will have nothing. Then the people of the prince who is to come will destroy the city and the
sanctuary. The end will come like a flood, and until the end there will be war; desolations have been decreed.
And arms shall stand on his part, and they shall
pollute the
sanctuary of strength, and shall take away the daily sacrifice, and they shall place the
abomination that maketh
desolate.
But
prophesy not again any more at
Bethel: for it is the king’s chapel, and it is the king’s court.
But never
prophesy at
Bethel again, because it is the
sanctuary of the king and the temple of the kingdom.”
Her prophets are light and
treacherous persons: her priests have
polluted the
sanctuary, they have done violence to the law.
Her prophets are
reckless, faithless men. Her priests
profane the
sanctuary; they do violence to the law.
Judah hath dealt
treacherously, and an
abomination is committed in Israel and in Jerusalem; for Judah hath
profaned the
holiness of the LORD which he loved, and hath married the daughter of a strange god.
Judah has broken faith; an
abomination has been committed in Israel and in Jerusalem. For Judah has
profaned the LORD’s beloved
sanctuary by marrying the daughter of a foreign god.
From the blood of
Abel unto the blood of
Zacharias, which perished between the altar and the temple:
verily I say unto you, It shall be required of this generation.
from the blood of
Abel to the blood of
Zechariah, who was killed between the altar and the
sanctuary.
Yes, I tell you, all of it will be charged to this generation.
Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and
stedfast, and which entereth into that within the
veil;
We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner
sanctuary behind the
curtain,
A minister of the sanctuary, and of the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, and not man.
and who ministers in the sanctuary and true tabernacle set up by the Lord, not by man.
Then
verily the first covenant had also ordinances of divine service, and a worldly
sanctuary.
Now the first covenant had regulations for worship and also an earthly sanctuary.
For there was a tabernacle made; the first, wherein was the
candlestick, and the table, and the
shewbread; which is called the
sanctuary.
A tabernacle was prepared. In its first room were the lampstand, the table, and the consecrated bread. This was called the Holy Place.
For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us:
For Christ did not enter a man-made copy of the true sanctuary, but He entered heaven itself, now to appear on our behalf in the presence of God.
For the bodies of those beasts, whose blood is brought into the sanctuary by the high priest for sin, are burned without the camp.
Although the high priest brings the blood of animals into the Holy Place as a sacrifice for sin, the bodies are burned outside the camp.
And now in some measure hath mercy been shewed unto us from thee, O Lord, that there should be left us a root and a name in the place of thy sanctuary;
And Samuel and David for the destruction: and Solomon for them that should come to the sanctuary:
For thou seest that our sanctuary is laid waste, our altar broken down, our temple destroyed;
As for me, I have not
forsaken you, neither am I departed from you: but am come into this place, to pray for the
desolation of
Sion, and that I might seek mercy for the low estate of your
sanctuary.
I will not
spare them: go your way, ye children, from the power,
defile not my
sanctuary.
And
cried to the God of Israel all with one consent earnestly, that he would not give their children for a prey, and their wives for a
spoil, and the cities of their inheritance to destruction, and the
sanctuary to
profanation and reproach, and for the nations to
rejoice at.
So God heard their prayers, and looked upon their afflictions: for the people fasted many days in all
Judea and Jerusalem before the
sanctuary of the Lord
Almighty.
But now are they returned to their God, and are come up from the places where they were scattered, and have possessed Jerusalem, where their
sanctuary is, and are seated in the hill country; for it was
desolate.
For if we be taken so, all
Judea shall lie waste, and our
sanctuary shall be
spoiled; and he will require the
profanation thereof at our mouth.
Now therefore, O brethren, let us
shew an example to our brethren, because their hearts depend upon us, and the
sanctuary, and the house, and the altar, rest upon us.
Throw down their strength in thy power, and bring down their force in thy wrath: for they have purposed to
defile thy
sanctuary, and to
pollute the tabernacle where thy glorious name resteth and to cast down with sword the horn of thy altar.
So the people continued feasting in Jerusalem before the
sanctuary for the space of three months and
Judith remained with them.
Therefore was there a covenant of peace made with him, that he should be the chief of the
sanctuary and of his people, and that he and his
posterity should have the dignity of the priesthood for ever:
Solomon reigned in a peaceable time, and was honoured; for God made all quiet round about him, that he might build an house in his name, and prepare his sanctuary for ever.
They burnt the chosen city of the
sanctuary, and made the streets
desolate, according to the prophecy of Jeremias.
How was he honoured in the midst of the people in his coming out of the sanctuary!
And entered proudly into the
sanctuary, and took away the golden altar, and the
candlestick of light, and all the vessels thereof,
For it was a place to lie in wait against the
sanctuary, and an evil
adversary to Israel.
Thus they shed innocent blood on every side of the
sanctuary, and
defiled it:
Her
sanctuary was laid waste like a wilderness, her feasts were turned into
mourning, her sabbaths into reproach her honour into contempt.
And
pollute the
sanctuary and holy people:
He said,
Woe is me! wherefore was I born to see this misery of my people, and of the holy city, and to dwell there, when it was delivered into the hand of the enemy, and the
sanctuary into the hand of strangers?
And, behold, our
sanctuary, even our beauty and our glory, is laid waste, and the Gentiles have
profaned it.
They said one to another, Let us restore the decayed fortune of our people, and let us fight for our people and the sanctuary.
Now Jerusalem lay void as a wilderness, there was none of her children that went in or out: the
sanctuary also was
trodden down, and aliens kept the strong hold; the heathen had their
habitation in that place; and joy was taken from Jacob, and the pipe with the
harp ceased.
And
Judas said, arm
yourselves, and be
valiant men, and see that ye be in
readiness against the morning, that ye may fight with these nations, that are assembled together against us to destroy us and our
sanctuary:
