Therefore it shall come to pass, when the Egyptians shall see thee, that they shall say, This is his wife: and they will kill me, but they will save thee alive.
and when the Egyptians see you, they will say, ‘This is his wife.’ Then they will kill me but will let you live.
Save only that which the young men have eaten, and the portion of the men which went with me, Aner,
Eshcol, and
Mamre; let them take their portion.
I will accept nothing but what my men have eaten and the share for the men who went with me—Aner,
Eshcol, and
Mamre. They may take their portion.”
Behold now, this city is near to
flee unto, and it is a little one: Oh, let me escape thither, (is it not a little one?) and my soul shall live.
Look, there is a town nearby where I can
flee, and it is a small place. Please let me
flee there—is it not a small place? Then my life will be
saved.”
And he said, Is not he rightly named Jacob? for he hath
supplanted me these two times: he took away my
birthright; and, behold, now he hath taken away my blessing. And he said, Hast thou not reserved a blessing for me?
So
Esau declared, “Is he not rightly named Jacob? For he has
cheated me twice. He took my
birthright, and now he has taken my blessing.” Then he asked, “
Haven’t you
saved a blessing for me?”
And he left all that he had in Joseph’s hand; and he knew not ought he had, save the bread which he did eat. And Joseph was a goodly person, and well favoured.
So Potiphar left all that he owned in Joseph’s care; he did not
concern himself with anything except the food he
ate. Now Joseph was well-built and handsome,
And now, do not be distressed or
angry with
yourselves that you sold me into this place, because it was to
save lives that God sent me before you.
And God sent me before you to preserve you a
posterity in the earth, and to
save your lives by a great
deliverance.
God sent me before you to preserve you as a
remnant on the earth and to
save your lives by a great
deliverance.
And they said, Thou hast saved our lives: let us find grace in the sight of my lord, and we will be Pharaoh’s servants.
“You have saved our lives,” they said. “We have found favor in our lord’s eyes, and we will be Pharaoh’s servants.”
But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.
As for you, what you intended against me for evil, God intended for good, in order to
accomplish a day like this—to preserve the lives of many people.
But the
midwives feared God, and did not as the king of Egypt commanded them, but
saved the men children alive.
The
midwives, however, feared God and did not do as the king of Egypt had
instructed; they let the boys live.
And the king of Egypt called for the
midwives, and said unto them, Why have ye done this thing, and have
saved the men children alive?
So the king of Egypt summoned the
midwives and asked them, “Why have you done this? Why have you let the boys live?”
And Pharaoh charged all his people, saying, Every son that is born ye shall cast into the river, and every daughter ye shall save alive.
Then Pharaoh commanded all his people: “Every son born to the Hebrews you must throw into the Nile, but every daughter you may allow to live.”
And in the first day there shall be an holy
convocation, and in the seventh day there shall be an holy
convocation to you; no manner of work shall be done in them,
save that which every man must eat, that only may be done of you.
On the first day you are to hold a sacred assembly, and another on the seventh day. You must not do any work on those days, except to prepare the meals—that is all you may do.
Thus the LORD saved Israel that day out of the hand of the Egyptians; and Israel saw the Egyptians dead upon the sea shore.
That day the LORD saved Israel from the hand of the Egyptians, and Israel saw the Egyptians dead on the shore.
He that sacrificeth unto any god, save unto the LORD only, he shall be utterly destroyed.
If
anyone sacrifices to any god other than the LORD alone, he must be set apart for destruction.
And if ye go to war in your land against the enemy that oppresseth you, then ye shall blow an
alarm with the
trumpets; and ye shall be remembered before the LORD your God, and ye shall be
saved from your enemies.
When you enter into battle in your land against an
adversary who attacks you, sound short blasts on the
trumpets, and you will be remembered before the LORD your God and
saved from your enemies.
Doubtless ye shall not come into the land, concerning which I
sware to make you dwell therein,
save Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of
Nun.
Surely none of you will enter the land in which I
swore to settle you, except
Caleb son of Jephunneh and Joshua son of
Nun.
And the
ass saw me, and turned from me these three times: unless she had turned from me, surely now also I had slain thee, and
saved her alive.
The
donkey saw me and turned away from me these three times. If she had not turned away, then by now I would surely have killed you and let her live.”
For the LORD had said of them, They shall surely die in the wilderness. And there was not left a man of them,
save Caleb the son of Jephunneh, and Joshua the son of
Nun.
For the LORD had told them that they would surely die in the wilderness. Not one was left except
Caleb son of Jephunneh and Joshua son of
Nun.
And Moses said unto them, Have ye saved all the women alive?
“Have you
spared all the women?” he asked them.
Save Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenezite, and Joshua the son of
Nun: for they have wholly followed the LORD.
not one except
Caleb son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite and Joshua son of
Nun—because they did follow the LORD wholeheartedly.’
Save Caleb the son of Jephunneh; he shall see it, and to him will I give the land that he hath
trodden upon, and to his children, because he hath wholly followed the LORD.
except
Caleb son of Jephunneh. He will see it, and I will give him and his descendants the land on which he has set foot, because he followed the LORD wholeheartedly.”
That the
slayer might
flee thither, which should kill his neighbour unawares, and
hated him not in times past; and that
fleeing unto one of these cities he might live:
Save when there shall be no poor among you; for the LORD shall greatly
bless thee in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance to possess it:
There will be no poor among you, however, because the LORD will surely
bless you in the land that the LORD your God is giving you to possess as an inheritance,
And this is the case of the
slayer, which shall
flee thither, that he may live:
Whoso killeth his neighbour ignorantly, whom he
hated not in time past;
Now this is the situation regarding the
manslayer who flees to one of these cities to
save his life, having killed his
neighbor accidentally, without intending to
harm him:
As when a man goeth into the wood with his neighbour to
hew wood, and his hand fetcheth a stroke with the
axe to cut down the tree, and the head slippeth from the
helve, and lighteth upon his neighbour, that he die; he shall
flee unto one of those cities, and live:
If he goes into the forest with his
neighbor to cut timber and swings his
axe to
chop down a tree, but the
blade flies off the handle and strikes and kills his
neighbor, he may
flee to one of these cities to
save his life.
For the LORD your God is he that goeth with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you.
For the LORD your God goes with you to fight for you against your enemies, to give you the victory.”
But of the cities of these people, which the LORD thy God
doth give thee for an inheritance, thou shalt
save alive nothing that breatheth:
However, in the cities of the nations that the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance, you must not leave alive anything that breathes.
When he found her in the field, the
betrothed woman
cried out, but there was no one to
save her.
and at
noon you will
grope about like a blind man in the darkness. You will not
prosper in your ways. Day after day you will be
oppressed and
plundered, with no one to
save you.
Thine ox shall be slain before thine eyes, and thou shalt not eat thereof: thine
ass shall be violently taken away from before thy face, and shall not be restored to thee: thy sheep shall be given unto thine enemies, and thou shalt have none to
rescue them.
Your ox will be slaughtered before your eyes, but you will not eat any of it. Your
donkey will be taken away and not returned to you. Your flock will be given to your enemies, and no one will
save you.
Happy art thou, O Israel: who is like unto thee, O people
saved by the LORD, the shield of thy help, and who is the sword of thy
excellency! and thine enemies shall be found liars unto thee; and thou shalt
tread upon their high places.
Blessed are you, O Israel! Who is like you, a people
saved by the LORD? He is the shield that protects you, the sword in which you
boast. Your enemies will cower before you, and you shall
trample their high places.”
And that ye will save alive my father, and my mother, and my brethren, and my sisters, and all that they have, and deliver our lives from death.
that you will
spare the lives of my father and mother, my brothers and sisters, and all who belong to them, and that you will deliver us from death.”
And Joshua
saved Rahab the
harlot alive, and her father’s household, and all that she had; and she dwelleth in Israel even unto this day; because she
hid the messengers, which Joshua sent to
spy out
Jericho.
And Joshua
spared Rahab the
prostitute, with her father’s household and all who belonged to her, because she
hid the men Joshua had sent to
spy out
Jericho. So she has lived among the Israelites to this day.
And the men of
Gibeon sent unto Joshua to the camp to
Gilgal, saying,
Slack not thy hand from thy servants; come up to us quickly, and
save us, and help us: for all the kings of the
Amorites that dwell in the mountains are gathered together against us.
Then the men of
Gibeon sent word to Joshua in the camp at
Gilgal: “Do not
abandon your servants. Come quickly and
save us! Help us, because all the kings of the
Amorites from the hill country have joined forces against us.”
But as for the cities that stood still in their strength, Israel burned none of them, save Hazor only; that did Joshua burn.
Yet Israel did not burn any of the cities built on their mounds, except Hazor, which Joshua burned.
There was not a city that made peace with the children of Israel,
save the
Hivites the inhabitants of
Gibeon: all other they took in battle.
No city made peace with the Israelites except the
Hivites living in
Gibeon; all others were taken in battle.
For the children of Joseph were two tribes,
Manasseh and Ephraim: therefore they gave no part unto the Levites in the land,
save cities to dwell in, with their suburbs for their cattle and for their substance.
The descendants of Joseph became two tribes,
Manasseh and Ephraim. And no portion of the land was given to the Levites, except for cities in which to live, along with pasturelands for their flocks and herds.
The LORD God of gods, the LORD God of gods, he knoweth, and Israel he shall know; if it be in rebellion, or if in
transgression against the LORD, (
save us not this day,)
“The LORD, the Mighty One, is God! The LORD, the Mighty One, is God! He knows, and may Israel also know. If this was in rebellion or breach of faith against the LORD, do not
spare us
today.
Nevertheless the LORD raised up judges, which delivered them out of the hand of those that
spoiled them.
Then the LORD raised up judges, who
saved them from the hands of those who
plundered them.
And when the LORD raised them up judges, then the LORD was with the judge, and delivered them out of the hand of their enemies all the days of the judge: for it
repented the LORD because of their groanings by reason of them that
oppressed them and
vexed them.
Whenever the LORD raised up a judge for the Israelites, He was with that judge and
saved them from the hands of their enemies while the judge was still alive; for the LORD was moved to
pity by their
groaning under those who
oppressed them and
afflicted them.
And when the children of Israel
cried unto the LORD, the LORD raised up a deliverer to the children of Israel, who delivered them, even Othniel the son of Kenaz,
Caleb’s younger brother.
But when the Israelites
cried out to the LORD, He raised up Othniel son of
Caleb’s younger brother Kenaz as a deliverer to
save them.
And after him was Shamgar the son of Anath, which
slew of the Philistines six hundred men with an ox
goad: and he also delivered Israel.
After Ehud came Shamgar son of Anath. And he too
saved Israel, striking down six hundred Philistines with an
oxgoad.
And the LORD looked upon him, and said, Go in this thy might, and thou shalt save Israel from the hand of the Midianites: have not I sent thee?
The LORD turned to him and said, “Go in the strength you have and
save Israel from the hand of
Midian. Am I not sending you?”
And he said unto him, Oh my Lord,
wherewith shall I
save Israel? behold, my family is poor in
Manasseh, and I am the least in my father’s house.
“Please, my Lord,”
Gideon replied, “how can I
save Israel? Indeed, my clan is the weakest in
Manasseh, and I am the youngest in my father’s house.”
And
Joash said unto all that stood against him, Will ye
plead for
Baal? will ye
save him? he that will
plead for him, let him be put to death whilst it is yet morning: if he be a god, let him
plead for himself, because one hath cast down his altar.
But
Joash said to all who stood against him, “Are you
contending for
Baal? Are you trying to
save him?
Whoever pleads his case will be put to death by morning! If
Baal is a god, let him
contend for himself with the one who has
torn down his altar.”
And
Gideon said unto God, If thou
wilt save Israel by mine hand, as thou hast said,
Then
Gideon said to God, “If You are going to
save Israel by my hand, as You have said,
Behold, I will put a
fleece of wool in the floor; and if the
dew be on the
fleece only, and it be dry upon all the earth beside, then shall I know that thou
wilt save Israel by mine hand, as thou hast said.
then behold, I will place a
fleece of wool on the
threshing floor. If there is
dew only on the
fleece and all the ground is dry, then I will know that You are going to
save Israel by my hand, as You have said.”
And the LORD said unto
Gideon, The people that are with thee are too many for me to give the Midianites into their hands, lest Israel
vaunt themselves against me, saying, Mine own hand hath
saved me.
Then the LORD said to
Gideon, “You have too many people for Me to deliver
Midian into their hands, lest Israel
glorify themselves over Me, saying, ‘My own hand has
saved me.’
And the LORD said unto
Gideon, By the three hundred men that
lapped will I
save you, and deliver the Midianites into thine hand: and let all the other people go every man unto his place.
Then the LORD said to
Gideon, “With the three hundred men who
lapped the water I will
save you and deliver the Midianites into your hand. But all the others are to go home.”
And his fellow answered and said, This is nothing else
save the sword of
Gideon the son of
Joash, a man of Israel: for into his hand hath God delivered
Midian, and all the host.
His friend replied: “This is nothing less than the sword of
Gideon son of
Joash, the
Israelite. God has delivered
Midian and the whole camp into his hand.”
And he said, They were my brethren, even the sons of my mother: as the LORD liveth, if ye had
saved them alive, I would not
slay you.
“They were my brothers,”
Gideon replied, “the sons of my mother! As surely as the LORD lives, if you had let them live, I would not kill you.”
Then the men of Israel said unto
Gideon, Rule thou over us, both thou, and thy son, and thy son’s son also: for thou hast delivered us from the hand of
Midian.
Then the Israelites said to
Gideon, “Rule over us—you and your son and grandson—for you have
saved us from the hand of
Midian.”
And after
Abimelech there arose to defend Israel
Tola the son of Puah, the son of
Dodo, a man of
Issachar; and he dwelt in Shamir in mount Ephraim.
After the time of
Abimelech, a man of
Issachar,
Tola son of Puah, the son of
Dodo, rose up to
save Israel. He lived in Shamir, in the hill country of Ephraim.
The Zidonians also, and the
Amalekites, and the Maonites, did
oppress you; and ye
cried to me, and I delivered you out of their hand.
Yet ye have
forsaken me, and served other gods: wherefore I will deliver you no more.
But you have
forsaken Me and served other gods, so I will no longer
save you.
Go and cry unto the gods which ye have chosen; let them deliver you in the time of your
tribulation.
Go and cry out to the gods you have chosen. Let them save you in your time of trouble.”
And
Jephthah said unto them, I and my people were at great
strife with the children of
Ammon; and when I called you, ye delivered me not out of their hands.
But
Jephthah replied, “My people and I had a serious conflict with the
Ammonites, and when I called, you did not
save me out of their hands.
And when I saw that ye delivered me not, I put my life in my hands, and passed over against the children of
Ammon, and the LORD delivered them into my hand: wherefore then are ye come up unto me this day, to fight against me?
When I saw that you would not
save me, I risked my life and crossed over to the
Ammonites, and the LORD delivered them into my hand. Why then have you come
today to fight against me?”
And Benjamin came again at that time; and they gave them wives which they had
saved alive of the women of
Jabesh-
gilead: and yet so they sufficed them not.
And at that time the Benjamites returned and were given the women who were
spared from
Jabesh-
gilead. But there were not enough women for all of them.
And she took it up, and went into the city: and her mother in law saw what she had
gleaned: and she brought forth, and gave to her that she had reserved after she was sufficed.
She
picked up the grain and went into the town, where her mother-in-law saw what she had
gleaned. And she brought out what she had
saved from her meal and gave it to
Naomi.
And when the people were come into the camp, the elders of Israel said, Wherefore hath the LORD
smitten us to day before the Philistines? Let us
fetch the ark of the covenant of the LORD out of
Shiloh unto us, that, when it cometh among us, it may
save us out of the hand of our enemies.
When the troops returned to the camp, the elders of Israel asked, “Why has the LORD brought defeat on us before the Philistines
today? Let us bring the ark of the covenant of the LORD from
Shiloh, so that it may go with us to
save us from the hand of our enemies.”
And the children of Israel said to Samuel, Cease not to cry unto the LORD our God for us, that he will save us out of the hand of the Philistines.
and said to Samuel, “Do not stop crying out to the LORD our God for us, that He may save us from the hand of the Philistines.”
To
morrow about this time I will send thee a man out of the land of Benjamin, and thou shalt
anoint him to be captain over my people Israel, that he may
save my people out of the hand of the Philistines: for I have looked upon my people, because their cry is come unto me.
“At this time
tomorrow I will send you a man from the land of Benjamin, and you are to
anoint him leader over My people Israel; he will
save them from the hand of the Philistines. For I have looked upon My people, because their cry has come to Me.”
And ye have this day rejected your God, who himself
saved you out of all your
adversities and your tribulations; and ye have said unto him,
Nay, but set a king over us. Now therefore present
yourselves before the LORD by your tribes, and by your thousands.
But
today you have rejected your God, who
saves you from all your troubles and afflictions, and you have said to Him, ‘No, set a king over us.’ Now therefore present
yourselves before the LORD by your tribes and clans.”
And Samuel said to all the people, See ye him whom the LORD hath chosen, that there is none like him among all the people? And all the people
shouted, and said, God
save the king.
Samuel said to all the people, “Do you see the one the LORD has chosen? There is no one like him among all the people.” And all the people
shouted, “Long live the king!”
But the children of
Belial said, How shall this man
save us? And they
despised him, and brought him no presents. But he held his peace.
But some worthless men said, “How can this man
save us?” So they
despised him and brought him no gifts; but Saul remained silent about it.
And the elders of
Jabesh said unto him, Give us seven days respite, that we may send messengers unto all the coasts of Israel: and then, if there be no man to
save us, we will come out to thee.
“Hold off for seven days,” replied the elders of
Jabesh, “and let us send messengers throughout Israel. If there is no one to
save us, we will surrender to you.”
And
Jonathan said to the young man that bare his armour, Come, and let us go over unto the garrison of these
uncircumcised: it may be that the LORD will work for us: for there is no restraint to the LORD to
save by many or by few.
Jonathan said to the young man bearing his
armor, “Come, let us cross over to the outpost of these
uncircumcised men. Perhaps the LORD will work on our behalf. Nothing can hinder the LORD from saving, whether by many or by few.”
So the LORD
saved Israel that day: and the battle passed over unto Beth-
aven.
So the LORD
saved Israel that day, and the battle moved on beyond Beth-
aven.
For, as the LORD liveth, which
saveth Israel, though it be in
Jonathan my son, he shall surely die. But there was not a man among all the people that answered him.
As surely as the LORD who
saves Israel lives, even if it is my son
Jonathan, he must die!” But not one of the troops said a word.
And all this assembly shall know that the LORD
saveth not with sword and
spear: for the battle is the LORD’S, and he will give you into our hands.
And all those assembled here will know that it is not by sword or
spear that the LORD
saves; for the battle is the LORD’s, and He will give all of you into our hands.”
Saul also sent messengers unto David’s house, to watch him, and to
slay him in the morning: and Michal David’s wife told him, saying, If thou
save not thy life to night, to
morrow thou shalt be slain.
Then Saul sent messengers to David’s house to watch him and kill him in the morning. But David’s wife Michal
warned him, “If you do not run for your life
tonight,
tomorrow you will be dead!”
And the priest said, The sword of
Goliath the
Philistine, whom thou slewest in the valley of Elah, behold, it is here
wrapped in a cloth behind the
ephod: if thou
wilt take that, take it: for there is no other
save that here. And David said, There is none like that; give it me.
The priest replied, “The sword of
Goliath the
Philistine, whom you killed in the Valley of Elah, is here; it is
wrapped in a cloth behind the
ephod. If you want, you may take it. For there is no other but this one.” And David said, “There is none like it; give it to me.”
Therefore David enquired of the LORD, saying, Shall I go and
smite these Philistines? And the LORD said unto David, Go, and
smite the Philistines, and
save Keilah.
So David inquired of the LORD, “Should I go and attack these Philistines?” And the LORD said to David, “Go and attack the Philistines and save Keilah.”
So David and his men went to Keilah, and fought with the Philistines, and brought away their cattle, and
smote them with a great slaughter. So David
saved the inhabitants of Keilah.
Then David and his men went to Keilah, fought against the Philistines, and carried off their
livestock, striking them with a mighty blow. So David
saved the people of Keilah.
And David
saved neither man nor woman alive, to bring
tidings to
Gath, saying, Lest they should tell on us, saying, So did David, and so will be his manner all the while he dwelleth in the country of the Philistines.
David did not leave a man or woman alive to be brought to
Gath, for he said, “Otherwise they will report us, saying, ‘This is what David did.’” And this was David’s custom the whole time he lived in
Philistine territory.
And David
smote them from the
twilight even unto the evening of the next day: and there escaped not a man of them,
save four hundred young men, which
rode upon camels, and fled.
And David struck them down from
twilight until the evening of the next day. Not a man escaped, except four hundred young men who fled, riding off on camels.
Then answered all the wicked men and men of
Belial, of those that went with David, and said, Because they went not with us, we will not give them ought of the
spoil that we have recovered,
save to every man his wife and his children, that they may lead them away, and depart.
but all the wicked and worthless men among those who had gone with David said, “Because they did not go with us, we will not share with them the
plunder we recovered, except for each man’s wife and children. They may take them and go.”
Now then do it: for the LORD hath spoken of David, saying, By the hand of my servant David I will save my people Israel out of the hand of the Philistines, and out of the hand of all their enemies.
Now take action, because the LORD has said to David, ‘Through My servant David I will save My people Israel from the hands of the Philistines and of all their enemies.’”
But the poor man had nothing,
save one little
ewe lamb, which he had bought and
nourished up: and it grew up together with him, and with his children; it did eat of his own meat, and
drank of his own cup, and lay in his
bosom, and was unto him as a daughter.
but the poor man had nothing except one small
ewe lamb that he had bought. He raised it, and it grew up with him and his children. It shared his food and
drank from his cup; it
slept in his arms and was like a daughter to him.
And it came to pass, when Hushai the Archite, David’s friend, was come unto
Absalom, that Hushai said unto
Absalom, God
save the king, God
save the king.
And David’s friend Hushai the Archite went to
Absalom and said to him, “Long live the king! Long live the king!”
And
Joab came into the house to the king, and said, Thou hast shamed this day the faces of all thy servants, which this day have
saved thy life, and the lives of thy sons and of thy daughters, and the lives of thy wives, and the lives of thy concubines;
Then
Joab went into the house and said to the king, “
Today you have disgraced all your servants who have
saved your life and the lives of your sons and daughters, of your wives, and of your concubines.
And all the people were at
strife throughout all the tribes of Israel, saying, The king
saved us out of the hand of our enemies, and he delivered us out of the hand of the Philistines; and now he is fled out of the land for
Absalom.
And all the people throughout the tribes of Israel were
arguing, “The king
rescued us from the hand of our enemies and delivered us from the hand of the Philistines, but now he has fled the land because of
Absalom.
The God of my rock; in him will I trust: he is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my saviour; thou savest me from violence.
My God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation. My
stronghold, my refuge, and my
Savior, You
save me from violence.
I will call on the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.
I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised; so shall I be saved from my enemies.
And the
afflicted people thou
wilt save: but thine eyes are upon the
haughty, that thou mayest bring them down.
You
save an
afflicted people, but Your eyes are on the
haughty to bring them down.
For who is God, save the LORD? and who is a rock, save our God?
For who is God besides the LORD? And who is the Rock except our God?
They looked, but there was none to save; even unto the LORD, but he answered them not.
They looked, but there was no one to save them— to the LORD, but He did not answer.
Now therefore come, let me, I pray thee, give thee counsel, that thou mayest save thine own life, and the life of thy son Solomon.
Now please, come and let me
advise you.
Save your own life and the life of your son Solomon.
For he is gone down this day, and hath slain oxen and fat cattle and sheep in abundance, and hath called all the king’s sons, and the captains of the host, and
Abiathar the priest; and, behold, they eat and drink before him, and say, God
save king Adonijah.
For
today he has gone down and sacrificed an abundance of oxen,
fattened calves, and sheep, and has invited all the sons of the king, the commanders of the army, and
Abiathar the priest. And behold, they are eating and drinking before him, saying, ‘Long live King Adonijah!’
And let
Zadok the priest and
Nathan the prophet
anoint him there king over Israel: and blow ye with the
trumpet, and say, God
save king Solomon.
There
Zadok the priest and
Nathan the prophet are to
anoint him king over Israel. You are to blow the ram’s horn and declare, ‘Long live King Solomon!’
And
Zadok the priest took an horn of oil out of the tabernacle, and
anointed Solomon. And they
blew the
trumpet; and all the people said, God
save king Solomon.
Zadok the priest took the horn of oil from the tabernacle and
anointed Solomon. Then they
blew the ram’s horn, and all the people proclaimed, “Long live King Solomon!”
And it came to pass the third day after that I was delivered, that this woman was delivered also: and we were together; there was no stranger with us in the house, save we two in the house.
On the third day after I gave birth, this woman also had a
baby. We were alone, with no one in the house but the two of us.
There was nothing in the ark
save the two tables of stone, which Moses put there at
Horeb, when the LORD made a covenant with the children of Israel, when they came out of the land of Egypt.
There was nothing in the ark except the two stone tablets that Moses had placed in it at
Horeb, where the LORD had made a covenant with the Israelites after they had come out of the land of Egypt.
Because David did that which was right in the eyes of the LORD, and turned not aside from any thing that he commanded him all the days of his life, save only in the matter of Uriah the Hittite.
For David had done what was right in the eyes of the LORD and had not turned aside from anything the LORD commanded all the days of his life, except in the matter of Uriah the Hittite.
And
Ahab said unto
Obadiah, Go into the land, unto all fountains of water, and unto all
brooks:
peradventure we may find grass to
save the horses and mules alive, that we lose not all the beasts.
Then
Ahab said to
Obadiah, “Go throughout the land to every spring and every valley. Perhaps we will find grass to keep the horses and mules alive so that we will not have to destroy any
livestock.”
And his servants said unto him, Behold now, we have heard that the kings of the house of Israel are
merciful kings: let us, I pray thee, put
sackcloth on our loins, and ropes upon our heads, and go out to the king of Israel:
peradventure he will
save thy life.
Then the servants of Ben-
hadad said to him, “Look now, we have heard that the kings of the house of Israel are
merciful. Let us go out to the king of Israel with
sackcloth around our waists and ropes around our heads. Perhaps he will
spare your life.”
But the king of Syria commanded his thirty and two captains that had rule over his
chariots, saying, Fight neither with small nor great,
save only with the king of Israel.
Now the king of
Aram had ordered his thirty-two
chariot commanders, “Do not fight with
anyone, small or great, except the king of Israel.”
And
Elisha said unto her, What shall I do for thee? tell me, what hast thou in the house? And she said, Thine
handmaid hath not any thing in the house,
save a pot of oil.
“How can I help you?” asked
Elisha. “Tell me, what do you have in the house?” She answered, “Your servant has nothing in the house but a
jar of oil.”
