And I will bring a sword upon you, that shall
avenge the quarrel of my covenant: and when ye are gathered together within your cities, I will
send the
pestilence among you; and ye shall be delivered into the hand of the enemy.
And I will bring a sword against you to
execute the
vengeance of the covenant. Though you withdraw into your cities, I will
send a plague among you, and you will be delivered into the hand of the enemy.
And upon them that are left alive of you I will
send a
faintness into their hearts in the lands of their enemies; and the sound of a
shaken leaf shall
chase them; and they shall
flee, as
fleeing from a sword; and they shall fall when none pursueth.
As for those of you who
survive, I will
send a
faintness into their hearts in the lands of their enemies, so that even the sound of a windblown leaf will put them to flight. And they will
flee as one flees the sword, and fall when no one pursues them.
Command the children of Israel, that they put out of the camp every
leper, and every one that hath an issue, and
whosoever is
defiled by the dead:
“Command the Israelites to
send away from the camp
anyone with a skin disease,
anyone who has a bodily discharge, and
anyone who is
defiled by a dead body.
Both male and female shall ye put out, without the camp shall ye put them; that they
defile not their camps, in the midst
whereof I dwell.
You must
send away male and female alike;
send them outside the camp so they will not
defile their camp, where I dwell among them.”
And the children of Israel did so, and put them out without the camp: as the LORD spake unto Moses, so did the children of Israel.
So the Israelites did this,
sending such people outside the camp. They did just as the LORD had
instructed Moses.
And there went forth a wind from the LORD, and brought quails from the sea, and let them fall by the camp, as it were a day’s journey on this side, and as it were a day’s journey on the other side, round about the camp, and as it were two cubits high upon the face of the earth.
Now a wind
sent by the LORD came up, drove in
quail from the sea, and brought them near the camp, about two cubits above the surface of the ground, for a day’s journey in every direction around the camp.
Send thou men, that they may search the land of
Canaan, which I give unto the children of Israel: of every tribe of their fathers shall ye
send a man, every one a ruler among them.
“
Send out for
yourself men to
spy out the land of
Canaan, which I am giving to the Israelites. From each of their fathers’ tribes
send one man who is a leader among them.”
And Moses by the commandment of the LORD
sent them from the wilderness of
Paran: all those men were heads of the children of Israel.
So at the consent of the LORD, Moses
sent them out from the Wilderness of
Paran. All the men were leaders of the Israelites,
These are the names of the men which Moses
sent to
spy out the land. And Moses called Oshea the son of
Nun Jehoshua.
These were the names of the men Moses
sent to
spy out the land; and Moses gave to Hoshea son of
Nun the name Joshua.
And Moses
sent them to
spy out the land of
Canaan, and said unto them, Get you up this way southward, and go up into the mountain:
When Moses
sent them to
spy out the land of
Canaan, he told them, “Go up through the Negev and into the hill country.
And they told him, and said, We came unto the land
whither thou
sentest us, and surely it floweth with milk and honey; and this is the fruit of it.
And they gave this account to Moses: “We went into the land to which you sent us, and indeed, it is flowing with milk and honey. Here is some of its fruit!
And the men, which Moses
sent to search the land, who returned, and made all the congregation to
murmur against him, by bringing up a
slander upon the land,
So the men Moses had
sent to
spy out the land, who had returned and made the whole congregation
grumble against him by bringing out a bad report about the land—
And Moses
sent to call Dathan and
Abiram, the sons of Eliab: which said, We will not come up:
Then Moses summoned Dathan and
Abiram, the sons of Eliab, but they said, “We will not come!
And Moses said,
Hereby ye shall know that the LORD hath
sent me to do all these works; for I have not done them of mine own mind.
Then Moses said, “This is how you will know that the LORD has sent me to do all these things, for it was not my own doing:
If these men die the common death of all men, or if they be visited after the
visitation of all men; then the LORD hath not
sent me.
If these men die a natural death, or if they suffer the fate of all men, then the LORD has not sent me.
And Moses
sent messengers from Kadesh unto the king of
Edom, Thus saith thy brother Israel, Thou knowest all the
travail that hath
befallen us:
From Kadesh, Moses
sent messengers to tell the king of
Edom, “This is what your brother Israel says: You know all the
hardship that has
befallen us,
And when we
cried unto the LORD, he heard our voice, and
sent an angel, and hath brought us forth out of Egypt: and, behold, we are in Kadesh, a city in the
uttermost of thy border:
and when we
cried out to the LORD, He heard our voice,
sent an angel, and brought us out of Egypt. Now look, we are in Kadesh, a city on the edge of your territory.
And the LORD
sent fiery serpents among the people, and they
bit the people; and much people of Israel died.
So the LORD
sent venomous snakes among the people, and many of the Israelites were
bitten and died.
And Israel
sent messengers unto Sihon king of the
Amorites, saying,
Then Israel
sent messengers to Sihon king of the
Amorites, saying,
And Moses
sent to
spy out Jaazer, and they took the villages thereof, and drove out the
Amorites that were there.
After Moses had
sent spies to Jazer, Israel captured its villages and drove out the
Amorites who were there.
He
sent messengers therefore unto
Balaam the son of Beor to
Pethor, which is by the river of the land of the children of his people, to call him, saying, Behold, there is a people come out from Egypt: behold, they cover the face of the earth, and they
abide over against me:
he
sent messengers to
Balaam son of Beor at
Pethor, which is by the Euphrates in the land of his people. “Behold, a people has come out of Egypt,” said Balak. “They cover the face of the land and have settled next to me.
And
Balaam said unto God, Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab, hath
sent unto me, saying,
And
Balaam said to God, “Balak son of Zippor, king of Moab,
sent me this message:
And Balak sent yet again princes, more, and more honourable than they.
Then Balak sent other princes, more numerous and more distinguished than the first messengers.
And Balak said unto
Balaam, Did I not earnestly
send unto thee to call thee? wherefore camest thou not unto me? am I not able indeed to promote thee to honour?
And he said to
Balaam, “Did I not
send you an
urgent summons? Why did you not come to me? Am I really not able to richly reward you?”
And Balak offered oxen and sheep, and
sent to
Balaam, and to the princes that were with him.
Balak sacrificed cattle and sheep, and he gave portions to
Balaam and the princes who were with him.
And
Balaam said unto Balak, Spake I not also to thy messengers which thou
sentest unto me, saying,
Balaam answered Balak, “Did I not already tell the messengers you
sent me
Of every tribe a thousand, throughout all the tribes of Israel, shall ye send to the war.
Send into battle a thousand men from each tribe of Israel.”
And Moses
sent them to the war, a thousand of every tribe, them and
Phinehas the son of
Eleazar the priest, to the war, with the holy instruments, and the
trumpets to blow in his hand.
And Moses
sent the thousand from each tribe into battle, along with
Phinehas son of
Eleazar the priest, who took with him the vessels of the sanctuary and the
trumpets for signaling.
Thus did your fathers, when I sent them from Kadesh-barnea to see the land.
This is what your fathers did when I
sent them from Kadesh-barnea to
inspect the land.
And ye came near unto me every one of you, and said, We will send men before us, and they shall search us out the land, and bring us word again by what way we must go up, and into what cities we shall come.
Then all of you approached me and said, “Let us
send men
ahead of us to search out the land and bring us word of what route to follow and which cities to enter.”
And I
sent messengers out of the wilderness of Kedemoth unto Sihon king of
Heshbon with words of peace, saying,
So from the Wilderness of Kedemoth I
sent messengers with an offer of peace to Sihon king of
Heshbon, saying,
(Which
Hermon the Sidonians call Sirion; and the
Amorites call it Shenir;)
which the Sidonians call Sirion but the
Amorites call
Senir—
Moreover the LORD thy God will
send the
hornet among them, until they that are left, and hide themselves from thee, be destroyed.
Moreover, the LORD your God will
send the
hornet against them until even the survivors hiding from you have perished.
Likewise when the LORD
sent you from Kadesh-barnea, saying, Go up and possess the land which I have given you; then ye rebelled against the commandment of the LORD your God, and ye believed him not, nor
hearkened to his voice.
And when the LORD sent you out from Kadesh-barnea, He said, “Go up and possess the land that I have given you.” But you rebelled against the command of the LORD your God. You neither believed Him nor obeyed Him.
And I will send grass in thy fields for thy cattle, that thou mayest eat and be full.
And I will provide grass in the fields for your
livestock, and you will eat and be satisfied.
And when thou sendest him out free from thee, thou shalt not let him go away empty:
And when you release him, do not send him away empty-handed.
It shall not seem hard unto thee, when thou
sendest him away free from thee; for he hath been worth a double
hired servant to thee, in serving thee six years: and the LORD thy God shall
bless thee in all that thou doest.
Do not regard it as a
hardship to set your servant free, because his six years of service were worth twice the wages of a
hired hand. And the LORD your God will
bless you in all you do.
And thou shalt come unto the priests the Levites, and unto the judge that shall be in those days, and
enquire; and they shall
shew thee the
sentence of judgment:
You are to go to the
Levitical priests and to the judge who presides at that time. Inquire of them, and they will give you a
verdict in the case.
And thou shalt do according to the
sentence, which they of that place which the LORD shall choose shall
shew thee; and thou shalt observe to do according to all that they inform thee:
You must
abide by the
verdict they give you at the place the LORD will choose. Be careful to do everything they
instruct you,
According to the
sentence of the law which they shall teach thee, and according to the judgment which they shall tell thee, thou shalt do: thou shalt not decline from the
sentence which they shall
shew thee, to the right hand, nor to the left.
according to the terms of law they give and the
verdict they
proclaim. Do not turn aside to the right or to the left from the decision they declare to you.
But he shall not multiply horses to himself, nor cause the people to return to Egypt, to the end that he should multiply horses:
forasmuch as the LORD hath said unto you, Ye shall henceforth return no more that way.
But the king must not acquire many horses for himself or send the people back to Egypt to acquire more horses, for the LORD has said, ‘You are never to go back that way again.’
Then the elders of his city shall
send and
fetch him thence, and deliver him into the hand of the
avenger of blood, that he may die.
the elders of his city must
send for him, bring him back, and hand him over to the
avenger of blood to die.
When a man hath taken a wife, and married her, and it come to pass that she find no favour in his eyes, because he hath found some uncleanness in her: then let him write her a bill of
divorcement, and give it in her hand, and
send her out of his house.
If a man marries a woman, but she becomes displeasing to him because he finds some
indecency in her, he may write her a
certificate of
divorce, hand it to her, and
send her away from his house.
And if the latter husband
hate her, and write her a bill of
divorcement, and giveth it in her hand, and
sendeth her out of his house; or if the latter husband die, which took her to be his wife;
and the second man hates her, writes her a
certificate of
divorce, hands it to her, and
sends her away from his house, or if he dies,
Her former husband, which
sent her away, may not take her again to be his wife, after that she is
defiled; for that is
abomination before the LORD: and thou shalt not cause the land to sin, which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance.
then the husband who
divorced her first may not remarry her after she has been
defiled, for that is an
abomination to the LORD. You must not bring sin upon the land that the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance.
When a man hath taken a new wife, he shall not go out to war, neither shall he be charged with any business: but he shall be free at home one year, and shall
cheer up his wife which he hath taken.
If a man is newly married, he must not be sent to war or be pressed into any duty. For one year he is free to stay at home and bring joy to the wife he has married.
The LORD shall open unto thee his good
treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to
bless all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt
lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not
borrow.
The LORD will open the heavens, His abundant
storehouse, to
send rain on your land in season and to
bless all the work of your hands. You will
lend to many nations, but
borrow from none.
The LORD shall
send upon thee
cursing,
vexation, and
rebuke, in all that thou settest thine hand unto for to do, until thou be destroyed, and until thou perish quickly; because of the wickedness of thy doings, whereby thou hast
forsaken me.
The LORD will
send curses upon you, confusion and reproof in all to which you put your hand, until you are destroyed and quickly perish because of the wickedness you have committed in
forsaking Him.
Therefore shalt thou serve thine enemies which the LORD shall
send against thee, in hunger, and in
thirst, and in nakedness, and in want of all things: and he shall put a yoke of iron upon thy neck, until he have destroyed thee.
you will serve your enemies the LORD will
send against you in famine,
thirst, nakedness, and
destitution. He will place an iron yoke on your neck until He has destroyed you.
Do ye thus requite the LORD, O
foolish people and unwise? is not he thy father that hath bought thee? hath he not made thee, and established thee?
Is this how you repay the LORD, O
foolish and
senseless people? Is He not your Father and
Creator? Has He not made you and established you?
They shall be burnt with hunger, and
devoured with burning heat, and with bitter destruction: I will also
send the teeth of beasts upon them, with the poison of serpents of the dust.
They will be wasted from hunger and
ravaged by
pestilence and bitter plague; I will
send the fangs of wild beasts against them, with the
venom of vipers that
slither in the dust.
In all the signs and the wonders, which the LORD sent him to do in the land of Egypt to Pharaoh, and to all his servants, and to all his land,
no prophet who did all the signs and wonders that the LORD sent Moses to do in the land of Egypt to Pharaoh and to all his officials and all his land,
And they answered Joshua, saying, All that thou commandest us we will do, and
whithersoever thou
sendest us, we will go.
So they answered Joshua, “Everything you have commanded us we will do, and everywhere you send us we will go.
And Joshua the son of
Nun sent out of
Shittim two men to
spy secretly, saying, Go view the land, even
Jericho. And they went, and came into an
harlot’s house, named
Rahab, and
lodged there.
And the king of
Jericho sent unto
Rahab, saying, Bring forth the men that are come to thee, which are entered into thine house: for they be come to search out all the country.
So the king of
Jericho sent to
Rahab and said, “Bring out the men who came to you and entered your house, for they have come to
spy out the whole land.”
And she said, According unto your words, so be it. And she sent them away, and they departed: and she bound the scarlet line in the window.
“Let it be as you say,” she replied, and she
sent them away. And when they had gone, she
tied the scarlet cord in the window.
And the city shall be
accursed, even it, and all that are therein, to the LORD: only
Rahab the
harlot shall live, she and all that are with her in the house, because she
hid the messengers that we
sent.
Now the city and everything in it must be devoted to the LORD for destruction. Only
Rahab the
prostitute and all those with her in her house will live, because she
hid the
spies we
sent.
And Joshua saved
Rahab the
harlot alive, and her father’s household, and all that she had; and she dwelleth in Israel even unto this day; because she
hid the messengers, which Joshua
sent to
spy out
Jericho.
And Joshua
spared Rahab the
prostitute, with her father’s household and all who belonged to her, because she
hid the men Joshua had
sent to
spy out
Jericho. So she has lived among the Israelites to this day.
And Joshua
sent men from
Jericho to
Ai, which is beside Beth-
aven, on the east side of
Bethel, and spake unto them, saying, Go up and view the country. And the men went up and viewed
Ai.
Meanwhile, Joshua
sent men from
Jericho to
Ai, which is near Beth-
aven to the east of
Bethel, and told them, “Go up and
spy out the land.” So the men went up and
spied out
Ai.
And they returned to Joshua, and said unto him, Let not all the people go up; but let about two or three thousand men go up and
smite Ai; and make not all the people to labour thither; for they are but few.
On returning to Joshua, they reported, “There is no need to
send all the people; two or three thousand men are enough to go up and attack
Ai. Since the people of
Ai are so few, you need not wear out all our people there.”
So Joshua
sent messengers, and they ran unto the tent; and, behold, it was
hid in his tent, and the silver under it.
So Joshua
sent messengers who ran to the tent, and there it all was, hidden in his tent, with the silver
underneath.
So Joshua arose, and all the people of war, to go up against
Ai: and Joshua chose out thirty thousand mighty men of valour, and
sent them away by night.
So Joshua and the whole army set out to attack
Ai. Joshua chose 30,000 mighty men of
valor and
sent them out at night
Joshua therefore
sent them forth: and they went to lie in
ambush, and abode between
Bethel and
Ai, on the west side of
Ai: but Joshua
lodged that night among the people.
So Joshua
sent them out, and they went to the place of
ambush and lay in wait between
Bethel and
Ai, to the west of
Ai. But Joshua spent that night among the people.
Wherefore Adoni-zedek king of Jerusalem
sent unto Hoham king of
Hebron, and unto Piram king of Jarmuth, and unto Japhia king of
Lachish, and unto Debir king of
Eglon, saying,
Therefore Adoni-zedek king of Jerusalem
sent word to Hoham king of
Hebron, Piram king of Jarmuth, Japhia king of
Lachish, and Debir king of
Eglon, saying,
And the men of
Gibeon sent unto Joshua to the camp to
Gilgal, saying,
Slack not thy hand from thy servants; come up to us quickly, and save us, and help us: for all the kings of the
Amorites that dwell in the mountains are gathered together against us.
Then the men of
Gibeon sent word to Joshua in the camp at
Gilgal: “Do not
abandon your servants. Come quickly and save us! Help us, because all the kings of the
Amorites from the hill country have joined forces against us.”
And it came to pass, when Jabin king of Hazor had heard those things, that he sent to Jobab king of Madon, and to the king of Shimron, and to the king of Achshaph,
Now when Jabin king of Hazor heard about these things, he sent word to Jobab king of Madon; to the kings of Shimron and Achshaph;
Forty years old was I when Moses the servant of the LORD
sent me from Kadesh-barnea to
espy out the land; and I brought him word again as it was in mine heart.
I was forty years old when Moses the servant of the LORD
sent me from Kadesh-barnea to
spy out the land, and I brought back to him an
honest report.
As yet I am as strong this day as I was in the day that Moses sent me: as my strength was then, even so is my strength now, for war, both to go out, and to come in.
still as strong
today as I was the day Moses
sent me out. As my strength was then, so it is now for war, for going out, and for coming in.
Give out from among you three men for each tribe: and I will send them, and they shall rise, and go through the land, and describe it according to the inheritance of them; and they shall come again to me.
Appoint three men from each tribe, and I will
send them out to survey the land and map it out, according to the inheritance of each. Then they will return to me
So Joshua blessed them, and sent them away: and they went unto their tents.
So Joshua blessed them and sent them on their way, and they went to their homes.
Now to the one half of the tribe of
Manasseh Moses had given possession in
Bashan: but unto the other half thereof gave Joshua among their brethren on this side Jordan westward. And when Joshua
sent them away also unto their tents, then he blessed them,
(To the half-tribe of
Manasseh Moses had given land in
Bashan, and to the other half Joshua gave land on the west side of the Jordan among their brothers.) When Joshua
sent them to their homes he blessed them,
And with him ten princes, of each chief house a prince throughout all the tribes of Israel; and each one was an head of the house of their fathers among the thousands of Israel.
With him they sent ten chiefs—one family leader from each tribe of Israel, each the head of a family among the clans of Israel.
I sent Moses also and Aaron, and I plagued Egypt, according to that which I did among them: and afterward I brought you out.
Then I
sent Moses and Aaron, and I
afflicted the Egyptians by what I did there, and afterward I brought you out.
Then Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab, arose and
warred against Israel, and
sent and called
Balaam the son of Beor to
curse you:
Then Balak son of Zippor, the king of Moab, set out to fight against Israel. He
sent for
Balaam son of Beor to
curse you,
And I
sent the
hornet before you, which
drave them out from before you, even the two kings of the
Amorites; but not with thy sword, nor with thy bow.
I
sent the
hornet ahead of you, and it drove out the two Amorite kings before you, but not by your own sword or bow.
So Joshua let the people depart, every man unto his inheritance.
Then Joshua sent the people away, each to his own inheritance.
And the house of Joseph
sent to
descry Bethel. (Now the name of the city before was
Luz.)
But when the children of Israel
cried unto the LORD, the LORD raised them up a deliverer, Ehud the son of
Gera, a
Benjamite, a man lefthanded: and by him the children of Israel
sent a present unto
Eglon the king of Moab.
And again they
cried out to the LORD, and He raised up Ehud son of
Gera, a left-handed
Benjamite, as their deliverer. So they
sent him with tribute to
Eglon king of Moab.
And when he had made an end to offer the present, he sent away the people that bare the present.
After Ehud had finished presenting the tribute, he
ushered out those who had carried it.
And she
sent and called
Barak the son of Abinoam out of Kedesh-
naphtali, and said unto him, Hath not the LORD God of Israel commanded, saying, Go and draw toward mount
Tabor, and take with thee ten thousand men of the children of
Naphtali and of the children of
Zebulun?
She summoned
Barak son of Abinoam from Kedesh in
Naphtali and said to him, “Surely the LORD, the God of Israel, is commanding you: ‘Go and march to Mount
Tabor, taking with you ten thousand men of
Naphtali and
Zebulun.
And the princes of
Issachar were with
Deborah; even
Issachar, and also
Barak: he was
sent on foot into the valley. For the divisions of
Reuben there were great thoughts of heart.
That the LORD
sent a prophet unto the children of Israel, which said unto them, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, I brought you up from Egypt, and brought you forth out of the house of
bondage;
He sent them a prophet, who told them, “This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: I brought you up out of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.
And the LORD looked upon him, and said, Go in this thy might, and thou shalt save Israel from the hand of the Midianites: have not I sent thee?
The LORD turned to him and said, “Go in the strength you have and save Israel from the hand of
Midian. Am I not
sending you?”
And he
sent messengers throughout all
Manasseh; who also was gathered after him: and he
sent messengers unto Asher, and unto
Zebulun, and unto
Naphtali; and they came up to meet them.
So the people took
victuals in their hand, and their
trumpets: and he
sent all the rest of Israel every man unto his tent, and retained those three hundred men: and the host of
Midian was beneath him in the valley.
So
Gideon sent the rest of the Israelites to their tents but kept the three hundred men, who took charge of the provisions and rams’ horns of the others. And the camp of
Midian lay below him in the valley.
And
Gideon sent messengers throughout all mount Ephraim, saying, Come down against the Midianites, and take before them the waters unto Beth-barah and Jordan. Then all the men of Ephraim gathered themselves together, and took the waters unto Beth-barah and Jordan.
Gideon sent messengers throughout the hill country of Ephraim to say, “Come down against the Midianites and seize the waters of the Jordan
ahead of them as far as Beth-barah.” So all the men of Ephraim were called out, and they captured the waters of the Jordan as far as Beth-barah.
And he
sent messengers unto
Abimelech privily, saying, Behold, Gaal the son of Ebed and his brethren be come to
Shechem; and, behold, they
fortify the city against thee.
And
Jephthah sent messengers unto the king of the children of
Ammon, saying, What hast thou to do with me, that thou art come against me to fight in my land?
Then
Jephthah sent messengers to the king of the
Ammonites, saying, “What do you have against me that you have come to fight against my land?”
And
Jephthah sent messengers again unto the king of the children of
Ammon:
Then Israel
sent messengers unto the king of
Edom, saying, Let me, I pray thee, pass through thy land: but the king of
Edom would not
hearken thereto. And in like manner they
sent unto the king of Moab: but he would not consent: and Israel abode in Kadesh.
Then Israel
sent messengers to the king of
Edom, saying, ‘Please let us pass through your land,’ but the king of
Edom would not
listen. They also
sent messengers to the king of Moab, but he would not consent. So Israel stayed in Kadesh.
And Israel
sent messengers unto Sihon king of the
Amorites, the king of
Heshbon; and Israel said unto him, Let us pass, we pray thee, through thy land into my place.
And Israel
sent messengers to Sihon king of the
Amorites, who ruled in
Heshbon, and said to him, ‘Please let us pass through your land into our own place.’
And he said, Go. And he
sent her away for two months: and she went with her companions, and
bewailed her
virginity upon the mountains.
“Go,” he said. And he
sent her away for two months. So she left with her friends and
mourned her
virginity upon the mountains.
And he had thirty sons, and thirty daughters, whom he sent abroad, and took in thirty daughters from abroad for his sons. And he judged Israel seven years.
He had thirty sons, as well as thirty daughters whom he gave in marriage to men outside his clan; and for his sons he brought back thirty wives from elsewhere. Ibzan judged Israel seven years.
Then
Manoah intreated the LORD, and said, O my Lord, let the man of God which thou
didst send come again unto us, and teach us what we shall do unto the child that shall be born.
Then
Manoah prayed to the LORD, “Please, O Lord, let the man of God You
sent us come to us again to teach us how to raise the boy who is to be born.”
And when
Delilah saw that he had told her all his heart, she
sent and called for the lords of the Philistines, saying, Come up this once, for he hath shewed me all his heart. Then the lords of the Philistines came up unto her, and brought money in their hand.
When
Delilah realized that he had revealed to her all that was in his heart, she
sent this message to the lords of the Philistines: “Come up once more, for he has revealed to me all that is in his heart.” Then the lords of the Philistines came to her, bringing the money in their hands.
And the children of
Dan sent of their family five men from their coasts, men of valour, from Zorah, and from Eshtaol, to
spy out the land, and to search it; and they said unto them, Go, search the land: who when they came to mount Ephraim, to the house of
Micah, they
lodged there.
So the Danites
sent out five men from their clans, men of
valor from Zorah and Eshtaol, to
spy out the land and
explore it. “Go and
explore the land,” they told them. The men entered the hill country of Ephraim and came to the house of
Micah, where they spent the night.
But the men would not
hearken to him: so the man took his
concubine, and brought her forth unto them; and they knew her, and
abused her all the night until the morning: and when the day began to spring, they let her go.
But the men would not
listen to him. So the
Levite took his
concubine and
sent her outside to them, and they raped her and
abused her throughout the night, and at
dawn they let her go.
