Tremble, ye women
that are at ease; be troubled, ye careless ones: strip you, and make you bare, and
gird sackcloth upon your loins.
Blessed are ye
that sow beside all waters,
that send forth thither the feet of the ox and the
ass.
Blessed are those who
sow beside abundant waters, who let the ox and
donkey range freely.
Woe to you, O destroyer never destroyed, O
traitor never
betrayed! When you have finished destroying, you will be destroyed. When you have finished
betraying, you will be
betrayed.
Ye shall conceive
chaff, ye shall bring forth
stubble: your breath, as fire, shall
devour you.
Hear, ye that are far off, what I have done; and, ye that are near, acknowledge my might.
You who are far off, hear what I have done; you who are near, acknowledge My might.”
He that walketh righteously, and speaketh uprightly; he that despiseth the gain of oppressions, that shaketh his hands from holding of bribes, that stoppeth his ears from hearing of blood, and shutteth his eyes from seeing evil;
He who walks righteously and speaks with
sincerity, who refuses gain from
extortion, whose hand never takes a
bribe, who stops his ears against
murderous plots and shuts his eyes
tightly against evil—
Thine eyes shall see the king in his beauty: they shall behold the land that is very far off.
Your eyes will see the King in His beauty and behold a land
that stretches
afar.
Thine heart shall
meditate terror. Where is the
scribe? where is the receiver? where is he
that counted the towers?
Your mind will
ponder the former terror: “Where is he who
tallies? Where is he who weighs? Where is he who counts the towers?”
Thou shalt not see a fierce people, a people of a deeper speech than thou canst perceive; of a
stammering tongue,
that thou canst not understand.
You will no longer see the
insolent, a people whose speech is unintelligible, who
stammer in a language you cannot understand.
Look upon
Zion, the city of our
solemnities: thine eyes shall see Jerusalem a quiet
habitation, a tabernacle
that shall not be taken down; not one of the stakes thereof shall ever be removed, neither shall any of the cords thereof be broken.
Look upon
Zion, the city of our appointed feasts. Your eyes will see Jerusalem, a peaceful pasture, a tent
that does not
wander; its tent pegs will not be pulled up, nor will any of its cords be broken.
And the inhabitant shall not say, I am sick: the people
that dwell therein shall be
forgiven their iniquity.
And no resident of
Zion will say, “I am sick.” The people who dwell there will be
forgiven of iniquity.
Come near, ye nations, to hear; and
hearken, ye people: let the earth hear, and all
that is therein; the world, and all things
that come forth of it.
Come near, O nations, to
listen; pay attention, O peoples. Let the earth hear, and all
that fills it, the world and all
that springs from it.
Say to them
that are of a fearful heart, Be strong, fear not: behold, your God will come with
vengeance, even God with a recompence; he will come and save you.
Say to those with anxious hearts: “Be strong, do not fear! Behold, your God will come with
vengeance. With divine
retribution He will come to save you.”
Now it came to pass in the
fourteenth year of king
Hezekiah,
that Sennacherib king of Assyria came up against all the defenced cities of Judah, and took them.
And
Rabshakeh said unto them, Say ye now to
Hezekiah, Thus saith the great king, the king of Assyria, What confidence is this wherein thou trustest?
The
Rabshakeh said to them, “Tell
Hezekiah that this is what the great king, the king of Assyria, says: What is the basis of this confidence of yours?
I say, sayest thou, (but they are but vain words) I have counsel and strength for war: now on whom
dost thou trust,
that thou rebellest against me?
You claim to have a
strategy and strength for war, but these are empty words. In whom are you now trusting,
that you have rebelled against me?
Lo, thou trustest in the staff of this broken reed, on Egypt;
whereon if a man
lean, it will go into his hand, and
pierce it: so is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all
that trust in him.
Look now, you are trusting in Egypt,
that splintered reed of a staff
that will
pierce the hand of
anyone who leans on it. Such is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all who trust in him.
And am I now come up without the LORD against this land to destroy it? the LORD said unto me, Go up against this land, and destroy it.
So now, was it apart from the LORD that I have come up against this land to destroy it? The LORD Himself said to me, ‘Go up against this land and destroy it.’”
Then said Eliakim and Shebna and Joah unto
Rabshakeh, Speak, I pray thee, unto thy servants in the
Syrian language; for we understand it: and speak not to us in the Jews’ language, in the ears of the people
that are on the wall.
Then Eliakim, Shebna, and Joah said to the
Rabshakeh, “Please speak to your servants in
Aramaic, since we understand it. Do not speak to us in Hebrew in the hearing of the people on the wall.”
But
Rabshakeh said, Hath my master sent me to thy master and to thee to speak these words? hath he not sent me to the men
that sit upon the wall,
that they may eat their own dung, and drink their own
piss with you?
But the
Rabshakeh replied, “Has my master sent me to speak these words only to you and your master, and not to the men sitting on the wall, who are destined with you to eat their own dung and drink their own
urine?”
Who are they among all the gods of these lands, that have delivered their land out of my hand, that the LORD should deliver Jerusalem out of my hand?
Who among all the gods of these lands has delivered his land from my hand? How then can the LORD deliver Jerusalem from my hand?”
Then came Eliakim, the son of Hilkiah,
that was over the household, and Shebna the
scribe, and Joah, the son of
Asaph, the recorder, to
Hezekiah with their clothes rent, and told him the words of
Rabshakeh.
And it came to pass, when king
Hezekiah heard it,
that he rent his clothes, and covered himself with
sackcloth, and went into the house of the LORD.
On hearing this report, King
Hezekiah tore his clothes, put on
sackcloth, and entered the house of the LORD.
It may be the LORD thy God will hear the words of
Rabshakeh, whom the king of Assyria his master hath sent to reproach the living God, and will reprove the words which the LORD thy God hath heard: wherefore lift up thy prayer for the
remnant that is left.
Perhaps the LORD your God will hear the words of the
Rabshakeh, whom his master the king of Assyria has sent to
defy the living God, and He will
rebuke him for the words
that the LORD your God has heard. Therefore lift up a prayer for the
remnant that still survives.”
And Isaiah said unto them, Thus shall ye say unto your master, Thus saith the LORD, Be not afraid of the words
that thou hast heard,
wherewith the servants of the king of Assyria have
blasphemed me.
who replied, “Tell your master
that this is what the LORD says: ‘Do not be afraid of the words you have heard, with which the servants of the king of Assyria have
blasphemed Me.
Behold, I will send a blast upon him, and he shall hear a rumour, and return to his own land; and I will cause him to fall by the sword in his own land.
Behold, I will put a spirit in him so
that he will hear a
rumor and return to his own land, where I will cause him to fall by the sword.’”
When the
Rabshakeh heard
that the king of Assyria had left
Lachish, he withdrew and found the king fighting against
Libnah.
Thus shall ye speak to
Hezekiah king of Judah, saying, Let not thy God, in whom thou trustest,
deceive thee, saying, Jerusalem shall not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.
“Give this message to
Hezekiah king of Judah: ‘Do not let your God, in whom you trust,
deceive you by saying
that Jerusalem will not be delivered into the hand of the king of Assyria.
O LORD of hosts, God of Israel, that dwellest between the cherubims, thou art the God, even thou alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth: thou hast made heaven and earth.
“O LORD of Hosts, God of Israel, enthroned above the
cherubim, You alone are God over all the kingdoms of the earth. You made the heavens and the earth.
Incline thine ear, O LORD, and hear; open thine eyes, O LORD, and see: and hear all the words of
Sennacherib, which hath sent to reproach the living God.
Incline Your ear, O LORD, and hear; open Your eyes, O LORD, and see.
Listen to all the words
that Sennacherib has sent to
defy the living God.
Now therefore, O LORD our God, save us from his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that thou art the LORD, even thou only.
And now, O LORD our God, save us from his hand, so that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that You alone, O LORD, are God.”
This is the word which the LORD hath spoken concerning him; The virgin, the daughter of
Zion, hath
despised thee, and
laughed thee to
scorn; the daughter of Jerusalem hath
shaken her head at thee.
this is the word
that the LORD has spoken against him: ‘The Virgin Daughter of
Zion despises you and mocks you; the Daughter of Jerusalem shakes her head behind you.
Hast thou not heard long ago, how I have done it; and of ancient times,
that I have formed it? now have I brought it to pass,
that thou shouldest be to lay waste defenced cities into
ruinous heaps.
Have you not heard? Long ago I ordained it; in days of old I
planned it. Now I have brought it to pass,
that you should
crush fortified cities into piles of
rubble.
And this shall be a sign unto thee, Ye shall eat this year such as groweth of itself; and the second year
that which springeth of the same: and in the third year
sow ye, and
reap, and plant vineyards, and eat the fruit thereof.
And this will be a sign to you, O
Hezekiah: This year you will eat what grows on its own, and in the second year what springs from the same. But in the third year you will
sow and
reap; you will plant vineyards and eat their fruit.
And the
remnant that is escaped of the house of Judah shall again take root
downward, and bear fruit upward:
And the
surviving remnant of the house of Judah will again take root below and bear fruit above.
For out of Jerusalem shall go forth a
remnant, and they
that escape out of mount
Zion: the zeal of the LORD of hosts shall do this.
For a
remnant will go forth from Jerusalem, and survivors from Mount
Zion. The zeal of the LORD of Hosts will
accomplish this.
By the way that he came, by the same shall he return, and shall not come into this city, saith the LORD.
He will go back the way he came, and he will not enter this city,’ declares the LORD.
One day, while he was worshiping in the temple of his god
Nisroch, his sons
Adrammelech and Sharezer put him to the sword and escaped to the land of
Ararat. And his son Esar-haddon reigned in his place.
And said, Remember now, O LORD, I
beseech thee, how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done
that which is good in thy sight. And
Hezekiah wept sore.
saying, “Please, O LORD, remember how I have walked before You faithfully and with wholehearted devotion; I have done what was good in Your sight.” And
Hezekiah wept bitterly.
Go, and say to
Hezekiah, Thus saith the LORD, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will add unto thy days fifteen years.
“Go and tell
Hezekiah that this is what the LORD, the God of your father David, says: ‘I have heard your prayer; I have seen your tears. Behold, I will add fifteen years to your life.
And this shall be a sign unto thee from the LORD, that the LORD will do this thing that he hath spoken;
This will be a sign to you from the LORD that He will do what He has promised:
Behold, I will bring again the shadow of the degrees, which is gone down in the sun
dial of
Ahaz, ten degrees backward. So the sun returned ten degrees, by which degrees it was gone down.
I will make the sun’s shadow
that falls on the
stairway of
Ahaz go back ten steps.’” So the
sunlight went back the ten steps it had descended.
I reckoned till morning,
that, as a lion, so will he break all my bones: from day even to night
wilt thou make an end of me.
I composed myself until the morning. Like a lion He breaks all my bones; from day until night You make an end of me.
For the grave cannot praise thee, death can not
celebrate thee: they
that go down into the pit cannot hope for thy truth.
For
Sheol cannot
thank You; Death cannot praise You. Those who descend to the Pit cannot hope for Your faithfulness.
Hezekiah also had said, What is the sign
that I shall go up to the house of the LORD?
And
Hezekiah had asked, “What will be the sign
that I will go up to the house of the LORD?”
At
that time Merodach-baladan, the son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent letters and a present to
Hezekiah: for he had heard
that he had been sick, and was recovered.
At
that time Merodach-baladan son of Baladan king of Babylon sent letters and a gift to
Hezekiah, for he had heard about
Hezekiah’s illness and recovery.
And
Hezekiah was
glad of them, and shewed them the house of his precious things, the silver, and the gold, and the spices, and the precious
ointment, and all the house of his armour, and all
that was found in his treasures: there was nothing in his house, nor in all his dominion,
that Hezekiah shewed them not.
And
Hezekiah welcomed the envoys
gladly and showed them what was in his
treasure house—the silver, the gold, the spices, and the precious oil, as well as his entire
armory—all
that was found in his storehouses. There was nothing in his palace or in all his dominion
that Hezekiah did not show them.
Then said he, What have they seen in thine house? And
Hezekiah answered, All
that is in mine house have they seen: there is nothing among my treasures
that I have not shewed them.
“What have they seen in your palace?” Isaiah asked. “They have seen everything in my palace,” answered
Hezekiah. “There is nothing among my treasures
that I did not show them.”
Behold, the days come, that all that is in thine house, and that which thy fathers have laid up in store until this day, shall be carried to Babylon: nothing shall be left, saith the LORD.
The time will surely come when everything in your palace and all that your fathers have stored up until this day will be carried off to Babylon. Nothing will be left, says the LORD.
And of thy sons
that shall issue from thee, which thou shalt
beget, shall they take away; and they shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.
And some of your descendants, your own flesh and blood, will be taken away to be eunuchs in the palace of the king of Babylon.”
Then said
Hezekiah to Isaiah, Good is the word of the LORD which thou hast spoken. He said moreover, For there shall be peace and truth in my days.
But
Hezekiah said to Isaiah, “The word of the LORD
that you have spoken is good.” For he thought, “At least there will be peace and security in my lifetime.”
Speak ye
comfortably to Jerusalem, and cry unto her,
that her warfare is accomplished,
that her iniquity is
pardoned: for she hath received of the LORD’S hand double for all her sins.
“Speak tenderly to Jerusalem, and
proclaim to her
that her forced labor has been completed; her iniquity has been
pardoned. For she has received from the hand of the LORD double for all her sins.”
The voice of him
that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a
highway for our God.
A voice of one calling: “Prepare the way for the LORD in the wilderness; make a straight
highway for our God in the desert.
O
Zion,
that bringest good
tidings, get thee up into the high mountain; O Jerusalem,
that bringest good
tidings, lift up thy voice with strength; lift it up, be not afraid; say unto the cities of Judah, Behold your God!
Go up on a high mountain, O
Zion,
herald of good news. Raise your voice loudly, O Jerusalem,
herald of good news. Lift it up, do not be afraid! Say to the cities of Judah, “Here is your God!”
He shall feed his flock like a
shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his
bosom, and shall gently lead those
that are with young.
He tends His flock like a
shepherd; He gathers the lambs in His arms and carries them close to His heart. He gently leads the
nursing ewes.
To an
idol that a
craftsman casts and a metalworker overlays with gold and fits with silver chains?
It is he
that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers;
that stretcheth out the heavens as a
curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in:
He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth; its dwellers are like grasshoppers. He stretches out the heavens like a
curtain, and spreads them out like a tent to dwell in.
That bringeth the princes to nothing; he maketh the judges of the earth as vanity.
He brings the princes to nothing and makes the rulers of the earth meaningless.
Lift up your eyes on high, and behold who hath created these things, that bringeth out their host by number: he calleth them all by names by the greatness of his might, for that he is strong in power; not one faileth.
Lift up your eyes on high: Who created all these? He leads forth the
starry host by number; He calls each one by name. Because of His great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing.
Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard,
that the
everlasting God, the LORD, the
Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is
weary? there is no searching of his understanding.
Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the
everlasting God, the
Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow
tired or
weary; His understanding is beyond searching out.
He giveth power to the
faint; and to them
that have no might he increaseth strength.
He gives power to the
faint and increases the strength of the weak.
But they
that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be
weary; and they shall walk, and not
faint.
But those who wait upon the LORD will renew their strength; they will mount up with wings like eagles; they will run and not grow
weary, they will walk and not
faint.
He pursued them, and passed safely; even by the way that he had not gone with his feet.
He pursues them, going on safely, hardly touching the path with his feet.
So the
carpenter encouraged the
goldsmith, and he
that smootheth with the hammer him
that smote the
anvil, saying, It is ready for the sodering: and he fastened it with
nails,
that it should not be moved.
Behold, all they
that were incensed against thee shall be
ashamed and confounded: they shall be as nothing; and they
that strive with thee shall perish.
Behold, all who
rage against you will be
ashamed and disgraced; those who
contend with you will be reduced to nothing and will perish.
Thou shalt seek them, and shalt not find them, even them
that contended with thee: they
that war against thee shall be as nothing, and as a thing of
nought.
You will seek them but will not find them. Those who
wage war against you will come to nothing.
That they may see, and know, and consider, and understand together, that the hand of the LORD hath done this, and the Holy One of Israel hath created it.
so that all may see and know, may consider and understand, that the hand of the LORD has done this and the Holy One of Israel has created it.”
Let them bring them forth, and
shew us what shall happen: let them
shew the former things, what they be,
that we may consider them, and know the latter end of them; or declare us things for to come.
“Let them come and tell us what will happen. Tell the former things, so
that we may
reflect on them and know the outcome. Or
announce to us what is coming.
Shew the things
that are to come
hereafter,
that we may know
that ye are gods:
yea, do good, or do evil,
that we may be dismayed, and behold it together.
Tell us the things
that are to come, so
that we may know
that you are gods.
Yes, do something good or evil,
that we may look on together in dismay.
Behold, ye are of nothing, and your work of
nought: an
abomination is he
that chooseth you.
Behold, you are nothing and your work is of no value.
Anyone who chooses you is
detestable.
Who hath declared from the beginning,
that we may know? and
beforetime,
that we may say, He is righteous?
yea, there is none
that sheweth,
yea, there is none
that declareth,
yea, there is none
that heareth your words.
Who has declared this from the beginning, so
that we may know, and from times past, so
that we may say: ‘He was right’? No one
announced it, no one
foretold it, no one heard your words.
The first shall say to
Zion, Behold, behold them: and I will give to Jerusalem one
that bringeth good
tidings.
I was the first to tell
Zion: ‘Look, here they are!’ And I gave to Jerusalem a
herald of good news.
For I
beheld, and there was no man; even among them, and there was no counsellor,
that, when I asked of them, could answer a word.
When I look, there is no one; there is no
counselor among them; when I ask them, they have nothing to say.
Thus saith God the LORD, he that created the heavens, and stretched them out; he that spread forth the earth, and that which cometh out of it; he that giveth breath unto the people upon it, and spirit to them that walk therein:
This is what God the LORD says— He who created the heavens and stretched them out, who spread out the earth and its offspring, who gives breath to the people on it and life to those who walk in it:
To open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house.
to open the eyes of the blind, to bring prisoners out of the
dungeon and those sitting in darkness out from the prison house.
I am the LORD:
that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to
graven images.
I am the LORD; that is My name! I will not yield My glory to another or My praise to idols.
Sing unto the LORD a new song, and his praise from the end of the earth, ye that go down to the sea, and all that is therein; the isles, and the inhabitants thereof.
Sing to the LORD a new song— His praise from the ends of the earth— you who go down to the sea, and all that is in it, you islands, and all who dwell in them.
Let the wilderness and the cities thereof lift up their voice, the villages
that Kedar doth inhabit: let the inhabitants of the rock sing, let them
shout from the top of the mountains.
Let the desert and its cities raise their voices; let the villages of
Kedar cry
aloud. Let the people of Sela sing for joy; let them cry out from the mountaintops.
And I will bring the blind by a way
that they knew not; I will lead them in paths
that they have not known: I will make darkness light before them, and
crooked things straight. These things will I do unto them, and not
forsake them.
I will lead the blind by a way they did not know; I will guide them on unfamiliar paths. I will turn darkness into light before them and rough places into level ground. These things I will do for them, and I will not
forsake them.
They shall be turned back, they shall be greatly
ashamed,
that trust in
graven images,
that say to the
molten images, Ye are our gods.
But those who trust in idols and say to
molten images, ‘You are our gods!’ will be turned back in utter shame.
Hear, ye
deaf; and look, ye blind,
that ye may see.
Listen, you
deaf ones; look, you blind ones,
that you may see!
Who is blind, but my servant? or
deaf, as my
messenger that I sent? who is blind as he
that is perfect, and blind as the LORD’S servant?
Who is blind but My servant, or
deaf like the
messenger I am sending? Who is blind like My covenant
partner, or blind like the servant of the LORD?
But now thus saith the LORD that created thee, O Jacob, and he that formed thee, O Israel, Fear not: for I have redeemed thee, I have called thee by thy name; thou art mine.
Now this is what the LORD says— He who created you, O Jacob, and He who formed you, O Israel: “Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; you are Mine!
Even every one
that is called by my name: for I have created him for my glory, I have formed him;
yea, I have made him.
everyone called by My name and created for My glory, whom I have indeed formed and made.”
Bring forth the blind people
that have eyes, and the
deaf that have ears.
Bring out a people who have eyes but are blind, and who have ears but are
deaf.
Let all the nations be gathered together, and let the people be assembled: who among them can declare this, and
shew us former things? let them bring forth their witnesses,
that they may be justified: or let them hear, and say, It is truth.
All the nations gather together and the peoples
assemble. Who among them can declare this, and
proclaim to us the former things? Let them present their witnesses to
vindicate them, so
that others may hear and say, “It is true.”
Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me.
“You are My witnesses,” declares the LORD, “and My servant whom I have chosen, so that you may consider and believe Me and understand that I am He. Before Me no god was formed, and after Me none will come.
I have declared, and have saved, and I have shewed, when there was no strange god among you: therefore ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, that I am God.
I alone decreed and saved and proclaimed— I, and not some foreign god among you. So you are My witnesses,” declares the LORD, “that I am God.
Yea, before the day was I am he; and there is none
that can deliver out of my hand: I will work, and who shall let it?
Even from
eternity I am He, and none can deliver out of My hand. When I act, who can reverse it?”
I, even I, am he that blotteth out thy transgressions for mine own sake, and will not remember thy sins.
I,
yes I, am He who blots out your transgressions for My own sake and remembers your sins no more.
Put me in
remembrance: let us
plead together: declare thou,
that thou mayest be justified.
Remind Me, let us
argue the matter together. State your case, so
that you may be
vindicated.
Thus saith the LORD
that made thee, and formed thee from the
womb, which will help thee; Fear not, O Jacob, my servant; and thou, Jesurun, whom I have chosen.
This is the word of the LORD, your Maker, who formed you from the
womb and who will help you: “Do not be afraid, O Jacob My servant,
Jeshurun, whom I have chosen.
For I will pour water upon him
that is
thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground: I will pour my spirit upon thy seed, and my blessing upon thine offspring:
For I will pour water on the
thirsty land, and currents on the dry ground. I will pour out My Spirit on your descendants, and My blessing on your offspring.
And who, as I, shall call, and shall declare it, and set it in order for me, since I appointed the ancient people? and the things
that are coming, and shall come, let them
shew unto them.
Who then is like Me? Let him say so! Let him declare his case before Me, since I established an ancient people. Let him
foretell the things to come, and what is to take place.
Fear ye not, neither be afraid: have not I told thee from
that time, and have declared it? ye are even my witnesses. Is there a God beside me?
yea, there is no God; I know not any.
Do not
tremble or fear. Have I not told you and declared it long ago? You are My witnesses! Is there any God but Me? There is no other Rock; I know not one.”
They
that make a
graven image are all of them vanity; and their
delectable things shall not profit; and they are their own witnesses; they see not, nor know;
that they may be
ashamed.
All makers of idols are nothing, and the things they
treasure are worthless. Their witnesses fail to see or
comprehend, so they are put to shame.
Who hath formed a god, or
molten a
graven image
that is profitable for nothing?
Who fashions a god or casts an
idol which profits him nothing?
The
carpenter stretcheth out his rule; he marketh it out with a line; he fitteth it with planes, and he marketh it out with the compass, and maketh it after the figure of a man, according to the beauty of a man;
that it may remain in the house.
The woodworker extends a measuring line; he marks it out with a
stylus; he shapes it with chisels and outlines it with a compass. He fashions it in the likeness of man, like man in all his glory,
that it may dwell in a
shrine.
He burneth part thereof in the fire; with part thereof he eateth flesh; he roasteth
roast, and is satisfied:
yea, he warmeth himself, and saith,
Aha, I am warm, I have seen the fire:
He burns half of it in the fire, and he roasts meat on
that half. He eats the
roast and is satisfied. Indeed, he warms himself and says, “
Ah! I am warm; I see the fire.”
