Berean Standard Bible BSB Bible
So king Solomon exceeded all the kings of the earth for riches and for wisdom.
So King Solomon surpassed all the kings of the earth in riches and wisdom.
And all the earth sought to Solomon, to hear his wisdom, which God had put in his heart.
The whole world sought an
audience with Solomon to hear
the wisdom that God had put in his heart.
And they brought every man his present, vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and garments, and armour, and spices, horses, and mules, a rate year by year.
Year after year, each
visitor would bring his tribute: articles of silver and gold, clothing, weapons, spices, horses, and mules.
And Solomon gathered together
chariots and
horsemen: and he had a thousand and four hundred
chariots, and twelve thousand
horsemen, whom he bestowed in
the cities for
chariots, and with
the king at Jerusalem.
Solomon accumulated 1,400
chariots and 12,000 horses, which he stationed in
the chariot cities and also with him in Jerusalem.
And
the king made silver to be in Jerusalem as stones, and cedars made he to be as
the sycomore trees that are in
the vale, for abundance.
The king made silver as common in Jerusalem as stones, and
cedar as abundant as
sycamore in
the foothills.
And Solomon had horses brought out of Egypt, and linen yarn: the king’s merchants received the linen yarn at a price.
Solomon’s horses were imported from Egypt and Kue; the royal merchants purchased them from Kue.
And a
chariot came up and went out of Egypt for six hundred shekels of silver, and an horse for an hundred and fifty: and so for all
the kings of
the Hittites, and for
the kings of Syria, did
they bring
them out by
their means.
A
chariot could be imported from Egypt for six hundred shekels of silver, and a horse for a hundred and fifty. Likewise,
they exported
them to all
the kings of
the Hittites and to
the kings of
Aram.
But king Solomon loved many strange women, together with
the daughter of Pharaoh, women of
the Moabites,
Ammonites, Edomites, Zidonians, and
Hittites;
King Solomon, however, loved many foreign women along with
the daughter of Pharaoh—women of Moab,
Ammon,
Edom, and
Sidon, as well as Hittite women.
Of
the nations concerning which
the LORD said unto
the children of Israel, Ye shall not go in to
them, neither shall
they come in unto you: for surely
they will turn away your heart after
their gods: Solomon
clave unto
these in love.
These women were from
the nations about which
the LORD had told
the Israelites, “You must not
intermarry with
them, for surely
they will turn your hearts after
their gods.” Yet Solomon
clung to
these women in love.
For it came to pass, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned away his heart after other gods: and his heart was not perfect with the LORD his God, as was the heart of David his father.
For when Solomon grew old, his wives turned his heart after other gods, and he was not wholeheartedly devoted to the LORD his God, as his father David had been.
And Solomon did evil in the sight of the LORD, and went not fully after the LORD, as did David his father.
So Solomon did evil in the sight of the LORD; unlike his father David, he did not follow the LORD completely.
And likewise did he for all his strange wives, which burnt incense and sacrificed unto their gods.
He did the same for all his foreign wives, who burned incense and sacrificed to their gods.
And
the LORD was
angry with Solomon, because his heart was turned from
the LORD God of Israel, which had appeared unto him twice,
Now
the LORD grew
angry with Solomon, because his heart had turned away from
the LORD,
the God of Israel, who had appeared to him twice.
And had commanded him concerning this thing, that he should not go after other gods: but he kept not that which the LORD commanded.
Although He had
warned Solomon
explicitly not to follow other gods, Solomon did not keep
the LORD’s command.
Wherefore
the LORD said unto Solomon,
Forasmuch as this is done of
thee, and thou hast not kept my covenant and my statutes, which I have commanded
thee, I will surely
rend the kingdom from
thee, and will give it to thy servant.
Then the LORD said to Solomon, “Because you have done this and have not kept My covenant and My statutes, which I have commanded you, I will
tear the kingdom away from you and give it to your servant.
Notwithstanding in thy days I will not do it for David thy father’s sake: but I will
rend it out of
the hand of thy son.
Nevertheless, for
the sake of your father David, I will not do it during your lifetime; I will
tear it out of
the hand of your son.
Howbeit I will not
rend away all
the kingdom; but will give one tribe to thy son for David my servant’s sake, and for Jerusalem’s sake which I have chosen.
Yet I will not
tear the whole kingdom away from him. I will give one tribe to your son for
the sake of My servant David and for
the sake of Jerusalem, which I have chosen.”
For it came to pass, when David was in
Edom, and
Joab the captain of
the host was gone up to
bury the slain, after he had
smitten every male in
Edom;
Earlier, when David was in
Edom,
Joab the commander of
the army had gone to
bury the dead and had struck down every male in
Edom.
(For six months did
Joab remain
there with all Israel, until he had cut off every male in
Edom:)
Joab and all Israel had stayed
there six months, until he had killed every male in
Edom.
And
they arose out of
Midian, and came to
Paran: and
they took men with
them out of
Paran, and
they came to Egypt, unto Pharaoh king of Egypt; which gave him an house, and appointed him
victuals, and gave him land.
Hadad and his men set out from
Midian and went to
Paran.
They took men from
Paran with
them and went to Egypt, to Pharaoh king of Egypt, who gave
Hadad a house and land and provided him with food.
And
Hadad found great favour in
the sight of Pharaoh, so that he gave him to wife
the sister of his own wife,
the sister of Tahpenes
the queen.
There Hadad found such great favor in
the sight of Pharaoh that he gave to him in marriage
the sister of Queen Tahpenes, his own wife.
And
the sister of Tahpenes bare him Genubath his son, whom Tahpenes
weaned in Pharaoh’s house: and Genubath was in Pharaoh’s household among
the sons of Pharaoh.
And
the sister of Tahpenes bore
Hadad a son named Genubath. Tahpenes herself
weaned him in Pharaoh’s palace, and Genubath lived
there among
the sons of Pharaoh.
And when
Hadad heard in Egypt that David
slept with his fathers, and that
Joab the captain of
the host was dead,
Hadad said to Pharaoh, Let me depart, that I may go to mine own country.
When
Hadad heard in Egypt that David had rested with his fathers and that
Joab,
the commander of
the army, was dead, he said to Pharaoh, “Let me go, that I may return to my own country.”
Then Pharaoh said unto him, But what hast thou lacked with me, that, behold, thou seekest to go to thine own country? And he answered, Nothing:
howbeit let me go in any wise.
But Pharaoh asked him, “What have you lacked here with me that you suddenly want to go back to your own country?” “Nothing,”
Hadad replied, “but please let me go.”
And God
stirred him up another
adversary, Rezon
the son of Eliadah, which fled from his lord Hadadezer king of Zobah:
And God raised up against Solomon another
adversary, Rezon
the son of Eliada, who had fled from his master, Hadadezer king of Zobah,
And he gathered men unto him, and became captain over a band, when David
slew them of Zobah: and
they went to Damascus, and dwelt
therein, and reigned in Damascus.
and had gathered men to himself. When David killed the Zobaites, Rezon captained a band of raiders and went to Damascus, where they settled and gained control.
And he was an
adversary to Israel all
the days of Solomon, beside
the mischief that
Hadad did: and he
abhorred Israel, and reigned over Syria.
Rezon was Israel’s enemy throughout
the days of Solomon, adding to
the trouble caused by
Hadad. So Rezon ruled over
Aram with hostility toward Israel.
And
Jeroboam the son of Nebat, an Ephrathite of Zereda, Solomon’s servant, whose mother’s name was Zeruah, a widow woman, even he lifted up his hand against
the king.
Now
Jeroboam son of Nebat was an Ephraimite from Zeredah whose mother was a widow named Zeruah.
Jeroboam was a servant of Solomon, but he rebelled against
the king,
And this was
the cause that he lifted up his hand against
the king: Solomon built
Millo, and repaired
the breaches of
the city of David his father.
and this is
the account of his rebellion against
the king. Solomon had built
the supporting terraces and repaired
the gap in
the wall of
the city of his father David.
And
the man
Jeroboam was a mighty man of valour: and Solomon seeing
the young man that he was
industrious, he made him ruler over all
the charge of
the house of Joseph.
Now
Jeroboam was a mighty man of
valor. So when Solomon noticed that
the young man was
industrious, he put him in charge of
the whole labor force of
the house of Joseph.
And it came to pass at that time when
Jeroboam went out of Jerusalem, that
the prophet
Ahijah the Shilonite found him in
the way; and he had
clad himself with a new garment; and
they two were alone in
the field:
During that time,
the prophet
Ahijah the Shilonite met
Jeroboam on
the road as he was going out of Jerusalem. Now
Ahijah had
wrapped himself in a new
cloak, and
the two of
them were alone in
the open field.
And
Ahijah caught
the new garment that was on him, and rent it in twelve pieces:
And
Ahijah took hold of
the new
cloak he was wearing,
tore it into twelve pieces,
And he said to
Jeroboam, Take
thee ten pieces: for thus saith
the LORD,
the God of Israel, Behold, I will
rend the kingdom out of
the hand of Solomon, and will give ten tribes to
thee:
and said to
Jeroboam, “Take ten pieces for
yourself, for this is what
the LORD,
the God of Israel, says: ‘Behold, I will
tear the kingdom out of
the hand of Solomon, and I will give you ten tribes.
(But he shall have one tribe for my servant David’s sake, and for Jerusalem’s sake, the city which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel:)
But one tribe will remain for the sake of My servant David and for the sake of Jerusalem, the city I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel.
Because that
they have
forsaken me, and have worshipped
Ashtoreth the goddess of
the Zidonians,
Chemosh the god of
the Moabites, and Milcom
the god of
the children of
Ammon, and have not walked in my ways, to do that which is right in mine eyes, and to keep my statutes and my judgments, as did David his father.
For
they have
forsaken Me to worship
Ashtoreth the goddess of
the Sidonians,
Chemosh the god of
the Moabites, and Milcom
the god of
the Ammonites.
They have not walked in My ways, nor done what is right in My eyes, nor kept My statutes and judgments, as Solomon’s father David did.
Howbeit I will not take
the whole kingdom out of his hand: but I will make him prince all
the days of his life for David my servant’s sake, whom I chose, because he kept my commandments and my statutes:
Nevertheless, I will not take the whole kingdom out of Solomon’s hand, because I have made him ruler all the days of his life for the sake of David My servant, whom I chose because he kept My commandments and statutes.
But I will take the kingdom out of his son’s hand, and will give it unto thee, even ten tribes.
But I will take ten tribes of the kingdom from the hand of his son and give them to you.
And unto his son will I give one tribe, that David my servant may have a light
alway before me in Jerusalem,
the city which I have chosen me to put my name
there.
I will give one tribe to his son, so that My servant David will always have a lamp before Me in Jerusalem, the city where I chose to put My Name.
And I will take thee, and thou shalt reign according to all that thy soul desireth, and shalt be king over Israel.
But as for you, I will take you, and you shall reign over all that your heart desires, and you will be king over Israel.
And it shall be, if thou
wilt hearken unto all that I command
thee, and
wilt walk in my ways, and do that is right in my sight, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as David my servant did; that I will be with
thee, and build
thee a sure house, as I built for David, and will give Israel unto
thee.
If you
listen to all that I command you, walk in My ways, and do what is right in My sight in order to keep My statutes and commandments as My servant David did,
then I will be with you. I will build you a lasting dynasty just as I built for David, and I will give Israel to you.
And I will for this
afflict the seed of David, but not for ever.
Because of this, I will humble David’s descendants—but not
forever.’”
Solomon sought
therefore to kill
Jeroboam. And
Jeroboam arose, and fled into Egypt, unto
Shishak king of Egypt, and was in Egypt until
the death of Solomon.
Solomon
therefore sought to kill
Jeroboam. But
Jeroboam arose and fled to Egypt, to
Shishak king of Egypt, where he remained until
the death of Solomon.
And the rest of the acts of Solomon, and all that he did, and his wisdom, are they not written in the book of the acts of Solomon?
As for the rest of the acts of Solomon—all that he did, as well as his wisdom—are they not written in the Book of the Acts of Solomon?
And the time that Solomon reigned in Jerusalem over all Israel was forty years.
Thus the time that Solomon reigned in Jerusalem over all Israel was forty years.
And Solomon
slept with his fathers, and was buried in
the city of David his father: and
Rehoboam his son reigned in his
stead.
And Solomon rested with his fathers and was buried in
the city of his father David. And his son
Rehoboam reigned in his place.
Then Rehoboam went to
Shechem, for all Israel had gone
there to make him king.
And it came to pass, when
Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who was yet in Egypt, heard of it, (for he was fled from
the presence of king Solomon, and
Jeroboam dwelt in Egypt;)
When
Jeroboam son of Nebat heard about this, he was still in Egypt where he had fled from King Solomon and had been living ever since.
That
they sent and called him. And
Jeroboam and all
the congregation of Israel came, and spake unto
Rehoboam, saying,
So
they sent for
Jeroboam, and he and
the whole assembly of Israel came to
Rehoboam and said,
Thy father made our yoke
grievous: now
therefore make thou
the grievous service of thy father, and his heavy yoke which he put upon us, lighter, and we will serve
thee.
“Your father put a heavy yoke on us. But now you should
lighten the burden of your father’s service and
the heavy yoke he put on us, and we will serve you.”
And he said unto them, Depart yet for three days, then come again to me. And the people departed.
Rehoboam answered, “Go away for three days and
then return to me.” So
the people departed.
And king
Rehoboam consulted with
the old men, that stood before Solomon his father while he yet lived, and said, How do ye
advise that I may answer this people?
Then King
Rehoboam consulted with
the elders who had served his father Solomon during his lifetime. “How do you
advise me to
respond to
these people?” he asked.
And
they spake unto him, saying, If thou
wilt be a servant unto this people this day, and
wilt serve
them, and answer
them, and speak good words to
them,
then they will be thy servants for ever.
They replied, “If you will be a servant to
these people and serve
them this day, and if you will
respond by speaking kind words to
them,
they will be your servants
forever.”
But he
forsook the counsel of
the old men, which
they had given him, and consulted with
the young men that were grown up with him, and which stood before him:
But
Rehoboam rejected
the advice of
the elders; instead, he consulted
the young men who had grown up with him and served him.
And he said unto them, What counsel give ye that we may answer this people, who have spoken to me, saying, Make the yoke which thy father did put upon us lighter?
He asked
them, “What message do you
advise that we send back to
these people who have spoken to me, saying, ‘
Lighten the yoke your father put on us’?”
And the young men that were grown up with him spake unto him, saying, Thus shalt thou speak unto this people that spake unto thee, saying, Thy father made our yoke heavy, but make thou it lighter unto us; thus shalt thou say unto them, My little finger shall be thicker than my father’s loins.
The young men who had grown up with him replied, “This is how you should answer
these people who said to you, ‘Your father made our yoke heavy, but you should make it lighter.’ This is what you should tell
them: ‘My little finger is thicker than my father’s
waist!
So
Jeroboam and all
the people came to
Rehoboam the third day, as
the king had appointed, saying, Come to me again
the third day.
After three days,
Jeroboam and all
the people returned to
Rehoboam, since
the king had said, “Come back to me on
the third day.”
And
the king answered
the people roughly, and
forsook the old men’s counsel that
they gave him;
And the king answered the people harshly. He rejected the advice of the elders
And spake to
them after
the counsel of
the young men, saying, My father made your yoke heavy, and I will add to your yoke: my father also
chastised you with whips, but I will
chastise you with scorpions.
and spoke to
them as
the young men had
advised, saying, “Whereas my father made your yoke heavy, I will add to your yoke. Whereas my father
scourged you with whips, I will
scourge you with scorpions.”
Wherefore
the king
hearkened not unto
the people; for
the cause was from
the LORD, that he might perform his saying, which
the LORD spake by
Ahijah the Shilonite unto
Jeroboam the son of Nebat.
So
the king did not
listen to
the people, and indeed this turn of events was from
the LORD, to
fulfill the word He had spoken to
Jeroboam son of Nebat through
Ahijah the Shilonite.
So when all Israel saw that
the king
hearkened not unto
them,
the people answered
the king, saying, What portion have we in David? neither have we inheritance in
the son of
Jesse: to your tents, O Israel: now see to thine own house, David. So Israel departed unto
their tents.
When all Israel saw that
the king had refused to
listen to
them,
they answered
the king: “What portion do we have in David, and what inheritance in
the son of
Jesse? To your tents, O Israel! Look now to your own house, O David!” So
the Israelites went home,
But as for
the children of Israel which dwelt in
the cities of Judah,
Rehoboam reigned over
them.
but
Rehoboam still reigned over
the Israelites living in
the cities of Judah.
Then king
Rehoboam sent Adoram, who was over
the tribute; and all Israel stoned him with stones, that he died.
Therefore king
Rehoboam made speed to get him up to his
chariot, to
flee to Jerusalem.
Then King
Rehoboam sent out Adoram, who was in charge of
the forced labor, but all Israel stoned him to death. And King
Rehoboam mounted his
chariot in
haste and escaped to Jerusalem.
So Israel rebelled against the house of David unto this day.
So to this day Israel has been in rebellion against the house of David.
And it came to pass, when all Israel heard that
Jeroboam was come again, that
they sent and called him unto
the congregation, and made him king over all Israel:
there was none that followed
the house of David, but
the tribe of Judah only.
When all Israel heard that
Jeroboam had returned,
they summoned him to
the assembly and made him king over all Israel. Only
the tribe of Judah followed
the house of David.
And when
Rehoboam was come to Jerusalem, he assembled all
the house of Judah, with
the tribe of Benjamin, an hundred and
fourscore thousand chosen men, which were warriors, to fight against
the house of Israel, to bring
the kingdom again to
Rehoboam the son of Solomon.
And when
Rehoboam arrived in Jerusalem, he
mobilized the whole house of Judah and
the tribe of Benjamin—180,000 chosen warriors—to fight against
the house of Israel and restore
the kingdom to
Rehoboam son of Solomon.
But the word of God came unto Shemaiah the man of God, saying,
But the word of God came to Shemaiah the man of God:
Speak unto
Rehoboam,
the son of Solomon, king of Judah, and unto all
the house of Judah and Benjamin, and to
the remnant of
the people, saying,
“Tell
Rehoboam son of Solomon king of Judah, all
the house of Judah and Benjamin, and
the rest of
the people
Thus saith
the LORD, Ye shall not go up, nor fight against your brethren
the children of Israel: return every man to his house; for this thing is from me.
They hearkened therefore to
the word of
the LORD, and returned to depart, according to
the word of
the LORD.
that this is what
the LORD says: ‘You are not to go up and fight against your brothers,
the Israelites. Each of you must return home, for this word is from Me.’” So
they listened to
the word of
the LORD and turned back according to
the word of
the LORD.
Then Jeroboam built
Shechem in mount Ephraim, and dwelt
therein; and went out from
thence, and built Penuel.
Then Jeroboam built
Shechem in
the hill country of Ephraim and lived
there. And from
there he went out and built Penuel.
And
Jeroboam said in his heart, Now shall
the kingdom return to
the house of David:
Jeroboam said in his heart, “Now
the kingdom might
revert to
the house of David.
If this people go up to do sacrifice in
the house of
the LORD at Jerusalem,
then shall
the heart of this people turn again unto
their lord, even unto
Rehoboam king of Judah, and
they shall kill me, and go again to
Rehoboam king of Judah.
If
these people go up to offer sacrifices in
the house of
the LORD at Jerusalem,
their hearts will return to
their lord,
Rehoboam king of Judah;
then they will kill me and return to
Rehoboam king of Judah.”
Whereupon the king took counsel, and made two
calves of gold, and said unto
them, It is too much for you to go up to Jerusalem: behold thy gods, O Israel, which brought
thee up out of
the land of Egypt.
After seeking advice,
the king made two golden
calves and said to
the people, “Going up to Jerusalem is too much for you. Here, O Israel, are your gods, who brought you up out of
the land of Egypt.”
And he set
the one in
Bethel, and
the other put he in
Dan.
And this thing became a sin: for
the people went to worship before
the one, even unto
Dan.
And this thing became a sin;
the people walked as far as
Dan to worship before one of
the calves.
And he made an house of high places, and made priests of the lowest of the people, which were not of the sons of Levi.
Jeroboam also built shrines on
the high places and appointed from every class of people priests who were not Levites.
And
Jeroboam ordained a feast in
the eighth month, on
the fifteenth day of
the month, like unto
the feast that is in Judah, and he offered upon
the altar. So did he in
Bethel, sacrificing unto
the calves that he had made: and he placed in
Bethel the priests of
the high places which he had made.
And
Jeroboam ordained a feast on
the fifteenth day of
the eighth month, like
the feast that was in Judah, and he offered sacrifices on
the altar; he made this offering in
Bethel to sacrifice to
the calves he had set up, and he
installed priests in
Bethel for
the high places he had set up.
So he offered upon
the altar which he had made in
Bethel the fifteenth day of
the eighth month, even in
the month which he had devised of his own heart; and ordained a feast unto
the children of Israel: and he offered upon
the altar, and burnt incense.
On
the fifteenth day of
the eighth month, a month of his own choosing,
Jeroboam offered sacrifices on
the altar he had set up in
Bethel. So he ordained a feast for
the Israelites, offered sacrifices on
the altar, and burned incense.
And, behold,
there came a man of God out of Judah by
the word of
the LORD unto
Bethel: and
Jeroboam stood by
the altar to burn incense.
Suddenly, as
Jeroboam was standing beside
the altar to burn incense,
there came a man of God from Judah to
Bethel by
the word of
the LORD.
And he
cried against
the altar in
the word of
the LORD, and said, O altar, altar, thus saith
the LORD; Behold, a child shall be born unto
the house of David,
Josiah by name; and upon
thee shall he offer
the priests of
the high places that burn incense upon
thee, and men’s bones shall be burnt upon
thee.
And he
cried out against
the altar by
the word of
the LORD, “O altar, O altar, this is what
the LORD says: ‘A son named
Josiah will be born to
the house of David, and upon you he will sacrifice
the priests of
the high places who burn incense upon you, and human bones will be burned upon you.’”
And he gave a sign the same day, saying, This is the sign which the LORD hath spoken; Behold, the altar shall be rent, and the ashes that are upon it shall be poured out.
That day the man of God gave a sign, saying, “The LORD has spoken this sign: ‘Surely the altar will be split apart, and the ashes upon it will be poured out.’”
And it came to pass, when king
Jeroboam heard
the saying of
the man of God, which had
cried against
the altar in
Bethel, that he put forth his hand from
the altar, saying, Lay hold on him. And his hand, which he put forth against him, dried up, so that he could not pull it in again to him.
Now when King
Jeroboam, who was at
the altar in
Bethel, heard
the word that
the man of God had
cried out against it, he stretched out his hand and said, “Seize him!” But
the hand he stretched out toward him
withered, so that he could not pull it back.
The altar also was rent, and the ashes poured out from the altar, according to the sign which the man of God had given by the word of the LORD.
And the altar was split apart, and the ashes poured out, according to the sign that the man of God had given by the word of the LORD.
And
the king answered and said unto
the man of God, Intreat now
the face of
the LORD thy God, and pray for me, that my hand may be restored me again. And
the man of God
besought the LORD, and
the king’s hand was restored him again, and became as it was before.
Then the king
responded to
the man of God, “
Intercede with
the LORD your God and pray that my hand may be restored.” So
the man of God
interceded with
the LORD, and
the king’s hand was restored to him as it was before.
And
the king said unto
the man of God, Come home with me, and refresh
thyself, and I will give
thee a reward.
Then the king said to
the man of God, “Come home with me and refresh
yourself, and I will give you a reward.”
And
the man of God said unto
the king, If thou
wilt give me half thine house, I will not go in with
thee, neither will I eat bread nor drink water in this place:
But the man of God replied, “If you were to give me half your possessions, I still would not go with you, nor would I eat bread or drink water in this place.
For so was it charged me by the word of the LORD, saying, Eat no bread, nor drink water, nor turn again by the same way that thou camest.
For this is what I was commanded by the word of the LORD: ‘You must not eat bread or drink water or return by the way you came.’”
So he went another way, and returned not by
the way that he came to
Bethel.
So
the man of God went another way and did not return by
the way he had come to
Bethel.
Now
there dwelt an old prophet in
Bethel; and his sons came and told him all
the works that
the man of God had done that day in
Bethel:
the words which he had spoken unto
the king,
them they told also to
their father.
Now a certain old prophet was living in
Bethel, and his sons came and told him all
the deeds that
the man of God had done that day in
Bethel.
They also told
their father
the words that
the man had spoken to
the king.
And their father said unto them, What way went he? For his sons had seen what way the man of God went, which came from Judah.
“Which way did he go?” their father asked. And his sons showed him the way taken by the man of God, who had come from Judah.
And went after the man of God, and found him sitting under an oak: and he said unto him, Art thou the man of God that camest from Judah? And he said, I am.
