Then brought he me out of the way of the gate northward, and led me about the way without unto the utter gate by the way that looketh eastward; and, behold, there ran out waters on the right side.
Next he brought me out
through the north gate and led me around the outside to the outer gate facing east, and there I saw the water
trickling out from the south side.
And when the man that had the line in his hand went forth eastward, he measured a thousand cubits, and he brought me through the waters; the waters were to the ancles.
As the man went eastward with a measuring line in his hand, he measured off a thousand cubits and led me
through ankle-deep water.
Again he measured a thousand, and brought me through the waters; the waters were to the knees. Again he measured a thousand, and brought me through; the waters were to the loins.
Then he measured off a thousand cubits and led me
through knee-deep water. Again he measured a thousand cubits and led me
through waist-deep water.
Hamath, Berothah, Sibraim, which is between the border of Damascus and the border of
Hamath; Hazar-hatticon, which is by the coast of
Hauran.
On the north side it will extend from the Great Sea by way of Hethlon
through Lebo-
hamath to Zedad, Berothah, and Sibraim (which is on the border between Damascus and
Hamath), as far as Hazer-hatticon, which is on the border of
Hauran.
And
whoso falleth not down and worshippeth shall the same hour be cast into the midst of a burning
fiery furnace.
And
whoever does not fall down and worship will immediately be
thrown into the
blazing fiery furnace.”
And
whoso falleth not down and worshippeth, that he should be cast into the midst of a burning
fiery furnace.
Now if ye be ready that at what time ye hear the sound of the
cornet,
flute,
harp,
sackbut,
psaltery, and
dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the image which I have made; well: but if ye worship not, ye shall be cast the same hour into the midst of a burning
fiery furnace; and who is that God that shall deliver you out of my hands?
Now, if you are ready, as soon as you hear the sound of the horn,
flute,
zither,
lyre,
harp, pipes, and all kinds of music, you must fall down and worship the statue I have made. But if you refuse to worship, you will be
thrown at once into the
blazing fiery furnace. Then what god will be able to deliver you from my hands?”
And he commanded the most mighty men that were in his army to bind
Shadrach, Meshach, and
Abed-nego, and to cast them into the burning
fiery furnace.
Then these men were bound in their coats, their
hosen, and their hats, and their other garments, and were cast into the midst of the burning
fiery furnace.
So they were
tied up, wearing robes,
trousers, turbans, and other clothes, and they were
thrown into the
blazing fiery furnace.
Then
Nebuchadnezzar the king was
astonied, and rose up in
haste, and spake, and said unto his counsellors, Did not we cast three men bound into the midst of the fire? They answered and said unto the king, True, O king.
Suddenly King
Nebuchadnezzar jumped up in
amazement and asked his advisers, “Did we not
throw three men, firmly bound, into the fire?” “Certainly, O king,” they replied.
At the same time my reason returned unto me; and for the glory of my kingdom, mine honour and brightness returned unto me; and my counsellors and my lords sought unto me; and I was established in my kingdom, and excellent majesty was added unto me.
At the same time my
sanity was restored, my honor and
splendor returned to me for the glory of my kingdom. My advisers and nobles sought me out, and I was restored to my
throne, and
surpassing greatness was added to me.
But when his heart was lifted up, and his mind
hardened in pride, he was
deposed from his kingly
throne, and they took his glory from him:
But when his heart became
arrogant and his spirit was
hardened with pride, he was
deposed from his royal
throne, and his glory was taken from him.
It pleased
Darius to set over the kingdom an hundred and twenty princes, which should be over the whole kingdom;
Now it pleased
Darius to
appoint 120 satraps to rule
throughout the kingdom,
All the presidents of the kingdom, the governors, and the princes, the counsellors, and the captains, have consulted together to establish a royal statute, and to make a firm decree, that
whosoever shall ask a petition of any God or man for thirty days, save of thee, O king, he shall be cast into the den of lions.
All the royal administrators, prefects, satraps, advisers, and governors have agreed that the king should establish an
ordinance and
enforce a decree that for thirty days
anyone who petitions any god or man except you, O king, will be
thrown into the den of lions.
Then they came near, and spake before the king concerning the king’s decree; Hast thou not signed a decree, that every man that shall ask a petition of any God or man within thirty days, save of thee, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions? The king answered and said, The thing is true, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which altereth not.
So they approached the king and asked about his royal decree: “Did you not sign a decree that for thirty days any man who petitions any god or man except you, O king, will be
thrown into the den of lions?” The king replied, “According to the law of the Medes and Persians the order stands, and it cannot be
repealed.”
And the king commanded, and they brought those men which had accused Daniel, and they cast them into the den of lions, them, their children, and their wives; and the lions had the
mastery of them, and
brake all their bones in pieces or ever they came at the bottom of the den.
At the command of the king, the men who had falsely accused Daniel were brought and
thrown into the den of lions—they and their children and wives. And before they had reached the bottom of the den, the lions overpowered them and
crushed all their bones.
Then king
Darius wrote unto all people, nations, and languages, that dwell in all the earth; Peace be multiplied unto you.
Then King
Darius wrote to the people of every nation and language
throughout the land: “May your prosperity abound.
In the first year of
Belshazzar king of Babylon Daniel had a dream and visions of his head upon his bed: then he wrote the dream, and told the sum of the matters.
In the first year of the reign of
Belshazzar over Babylon, Daniel had a dream, and visions passed
through his mind as he lay on his bed. He wrote down the dream, and this is the summary of his account.
I
beheld till the
thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool: his
throne was like the
fiery flame, and his wheels as burning fire.
As I continued to watch,
thrones were set in place, and the Ancient of Days took His seat. His clothing was white as snow, and the hair of His head was like pure wool. His
throne was flaming with fire, and its wheels were all
ablaze.
I
beheld then because of the voice of the great words which the horn spake: I
beheld even till the beast was slain, and his body destroyed, and given to the burning flame.
Then I kept watching because of the
arrogant words the horn was speaking. As I continued to watch, the beast was slain, and its body was destroyed and
thrown into the
blazing fire.
And in the latter time of their kingdom, when the transgressors are come to the full, a king of fierce countenance, and understanding dark sentences, shall stand up.
In the latter part of their reign, when the rebellion has reached its full measure, an
insolent king, skilled in
intrigue, will come to the
throne.
And
through his policy also he shall cause craft to
prosper in his hand; and he shall
magnify himself in his heart, and by peace shall destroy many: he shall also stand up against the Prince of princes; but he shall be broken without hand.
Through his craft and by his hand, he will cause
deceit to
prosper, and in his own mind he will make himself great. In a time of peace he will destroy many, and he will even stand against the Prince of princes. Yet he will be broken off, but not by human hands.
O Lord, righteousness belongeth unto thee, but unto us confusion of faces, as at this day; to the men of Judah, and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and unto all Israel, that are near, and that are far off,
through all the countries
whither thou hast driven them, because of their
trespass that they have
trespassed against thee.
To You, O Lord, belongs righteousness, but this day we are covered with shame—the men of Judah, the people of Jerusalem, and all Israel near and far, in all the countries to which You have driven us because of our unfaithfulness to You.
Neither have we obeyed the voice of the LORD our God, to walk in his laws, which he set before us by his servants the prophets.
and have not obeyed the voice of the LORD our God to walk in His laws, which He set before us through His servants the prophets.
And now will I
shew thee the truth. Behold, there shall stand up yet three kings in Persia; and the fourth shall be far richer than they all: and by his strength
through his riches he shall
stir up all against the realm of
Grecia.
Now then, I will tell you the truth: Three more kings will arise in Persia, and then a fourth, who will be far richer than all the others. By the power of his wealth, he will
stir up
everyone against the kingdom of Greece.
But his sons shall be
stirred up, and shall
assemble a multitude of great forces: and one shall certainly come, and overflow, and pass
through: then shall he return, and be
stirred up, even to his fortress.
And at the time of the end shall the king of the south
push at him: and the king of the north shall come against him like a
whirlwind, with
chariots, and with
horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter into the countries, and shall overflow and pass over.
At the time of the end, the king of the South will
engage him in battle, but the king of the North will storm out against him with
chariots,
horsemen, and many ships,
invading many countries and
sweeping through them like a flood.
The beginning of the word of the LORD by
Hosea. And the LORD said to
Hosea, Go, take unto thee a wife of whoredoms and children of whoredoms: for the land hath committed great
whoredom, departing from the LORD.
And the sword shall
abide on his cities, and shall
consume his branches, and
devour them, because of their own counsels.
A sword will
flash through their cities; it will destroy the bars of their gates and
consume them in their own plans.
I have also spoken by the prophets, and I have multiplied visions, and used similitudes, by the ministry of the prophets.
I spoke through the prophets and multiplied their visions; I gave parables through the prophets.
Therefore they shall be as the morning cloud, and as the early
dew that passeth away, as the
chaff that is driven with the
whirlwind out of the floor, and as the smoke out of the
chimney.
Therefore they will be like the morning
mist, like the early
dew that vanishes, like
chaff blown from a
threshing floor, like smoke
through an open window.
He hath laid my vine waste, and barked my fig tree: he hath made it clean bare, and cast it away; the branches thereof are made white.
It has laid waste My
grapevine and
splintered My fig tree. It has
stripped off the bark and
thrown it away; the branches have turned white.
Neither shall one thrust another; they shall walk every one in his path: and when they fall upon the sword, they shall not be wounded.
They do not
jostle one another; each proceeds in his path. They
burst through the defenses, never breaking ranks.
They shall run to and
fro in the city; they shall run upon the wall, they shall
climb up upon the houses; they shall enter in at the windows like a
thief.
They storm the city; they run along the wall; they
climb into houses, entering
through windows like
thieves.
So shall ye know that I am the LORD your God dwelling in
Zion, my holy mountain: then shall Jerusalem be holy, and there shall no strangers pass
through her any more.
Then you will know that I am the LORD your God, who dwells in
Zion, My holy mountain. Jerusalem will be holy, never again to be overrun by foreigners.
And they lay themselves down upon clothes laid to
pledge by every altar, and they drink the wine of the condemned in the house of their god.
They lie down beside every altar on garments taken in
pledge. And in the house of their God, they drink wine obtained
through fines.
Also I brought you up from the land of Egypt, and led you forty years through the wilderness, to possess the land of the Amorite.
And I brought you up from the land of Egypt and led you forty years in the wilderness, that you might take possession of the land of the Amorite.
And ye shall go out at the breaches, every cow at that which is before her; and ye shall cast them into the palace, saith the LORD.
You will go out
through broken walls, each one straight
ahead of her, and you will be cast out toward Harmon,” declares the LORD.
Seek the LORD, and ye shall live; lest he break out like fire in the house of Joseph, and
devour it, and there be none to
quench it in
Bethel.
Seek the LORD and live, or He will
sweep like fire
through the house of Joseph; it will
devour everything, with no one at
Bethel to
extinguish it.
And in all vineyards shall be
wailing: for I will pass
through thee, saith the LORD.
There will be
wailing in all the vineyards, for I will pass
through your midst,” says the LORD.
For word came unto the king of
Nineveh, and he arose from his
throne, and he laid his
robe from him, and covered him with
sackcloth, and sat in ashes.
When word reached the king of
Nineveh, he got up from his
throne, took off his royal
robe, covered himself with
sackcloth, and sat in ashes.
And he caused it to be proclaimed and published
through Nineveh by the decree of the king and his nobles, saying, Let neither man nor beast,
herd nor flock, taste any thing: let them not feed, nor drink water:
Then he issued a
proclamation in
Nineveh: “By the decree of the king and his nobles: Let no man or beast,
herd or flock, taste anything at all. They must not eat or drink.
I will surely
assemble, O Jacob, all of thee; I will surely gather the
remnant of Israel; I will put them together as the sheep of
Bozrah, as the flock in the midst of their fold: they shall make great noise by reason of the multitude of men.
I will surely gather all of you, O Jacob; I will collect the
remnant of Israel. I will bring them together like sheep in a pen, like a flock in the midst of its pasture— a
noisy throng.
The breaker is come up before them: they have broken up, and have passed through the gate, and are gone out by it: and their king shall pass before them, and the LORD on the head of them.
One who breaks open the way will go up before them; they will break through the gate, and go out by it. Their King will pass through before them, the LORD as their leader.
And the
remnant of Jacob shall be among the Gentiles in the midst of many people as a lion among the beasts of the forest, as a young lion among the flocks of sheep: who, if he go
through, both treadeth down, and teareth in pieces, and none can deliver.
Then the
remnant of Jacob will be among the nations, in the midst of many peoples, like a lion among the beasts of the forest, like a young lion among flocks of sheep, which tramples and tears as it passes
through, with no one to
rescue them.
And I will cut off the cities of thy land, and throw down all thy strong holds:
I will remove the cities of your land and
tear down all your strongholds.
Who can stand before his
indignation? and who can
abide in the fierceness of his anger? his
fury is poured out like fire, and the rocks are
thrown down by him.
Thus saith the LORD: Though they be quiet, and likewise many, yet thus shall they be cut down, when he shall pass
through. Though I have
afflicted thee, I will
afflict thee no more.
This is what the LORD says: “Though they are allied and numerous, yet they will be cut down and pass away. Though I have
afflicted you, O Judah, I will
afflict you no longer.
Behold upon the mountains the feet of him that bringeth good
tidings, that publisheth peace! O Judah, keep thy solemn feasts, perform thy vows: for the wicked shall no more pass
through thee; he is utterly cut off.
Look to the mountains— the feet of one who brings good news, who proclaims peace!
Celebrate your feasts, O Judah;
fulfill your vows. For the wicked will never again march
through you; they will be utterly cut off.
The
chariots shall
rage in the streets, they shall
justle one against another in the broad ways: they shall seem like torches, they shall run like the lightnings.
The gates of the rivers shall be opened, and the palace shall be dissolved.
The river gates are thrown open and the palace collapses.
But
Nineveh is of old like a
pool of water: yet they shall
flee away. Stand, stand, shall they cry; but none shall look back.
Nineveh has been like a
pool of water
throughout her days, but now it is
draining away. “Stop! Stop!” they cry, but no one turns back.
Because of the multitude of the whoredoms of the wellfavoured
harlot, the
mistress of witchcrafts, that selleth nations
through her whoredoms, and families
through her witchcrafts.
For, lo, I raise up the Chaldeans, that bitter and
hasty nation, which shall march
through the breadth of the land, to possess the dwellingplaces that are not theirs.
For behold, I am raising up the Chaldeans— that
ruthless and
impetuous nation which marches
through the breadth of the earth to seize dwellings not their own.
Then shall his mind change, and he shall pass over, and
offend, imputing this his power unto his god.
Then they
sweep by like the wind and pass on
through. They are guilty; their own strength is their god.”
You marched across the earth with
fury; You
threshed the nations in wrath.
With his own
spear You pierced his head, when his warriors stormed out to
scatter us,
gloating as though ready to secretly
devour the weak.
Thou
didst walk
through the sea with thine horses,
through the
heap of great waters.
I have cut off the nations: their towers are
desolate; I made their streets waste, that none passeth by: their cities are destroyed, so that there is no man, that there is none inhabitant.
“I have cut off the nations; their corner towers are destroyed. I have made their streets deserted with no one to pass through. Their cities are laid waste, with no man, no inhabitant.
Behold, at that time I will
undo all that
afflict thee: and I will save her that halteth, and gather her that was driven out; and I will get them praise and fame in every land where they have been put to shame.
Behold, at that time, I will deal with all who
afflict you. I will save the
lame and gather the scattered; and I will
appoint praise and fame for the disgraced
throughout the earth.
In the second year of
Darius the king, in the sixth month, in the first day of the month, came the word of the LORD by
Haggai the prophet unto
Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Josedech, the high priest, saying,
In the second year of the reign of
Darius, on the first day of the sixth month, the word of the LORD came
through Haggai the prophet to
Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest, stating
Then came the word of the LORD by
Haggai the prophet, saying,
Then the word of the LORD came
through Haggai the prophet, saying:
Ye have sown much, and bring in little; ye eat, but ye have not enough; ye drink, but ye are not filled with drink; ye
clothe you, but there is none warm; and he that earneth wages earneth wages to put it into a
bag with holes.
You have planted much but harvested little. You eat but never have enough. You drink but never have your fill. You put on clothes but never get warm. You
earn wages to put into a
bag pierced
through.”
In the seventh month, in the one and
twentieth day of the month, came the word of the LORD by the prophet
Haggai, saying,
On the twenty-first day of the seventh month, the word of the LORD came
through Haggai the prophet, saying:
And I will overthrow the
throne of kingdoms, and I will destroy the strength of the kingdoms of the heathen; and I will overthrow the
chariots, and those that
ride in them; and the horses and their riders shall come down, every one by the sword of his brother.
I will overturn royal
thrones and destroy the power of the kingdoms of the nations. I will overturn
chariots and their riders; horses and their riders will fall, each by the sword of his brother.
And the man that stood among the
myrtle trees answered and said, These are they whom the LORD hath sent to walk to and
fro through the earth.
Then the man standing among the
myrtle trees explained, “They are the ones the LORD has sent to
patrol the earth.”
And they answered the angel of the LORD that stood among the
myrtle trees, and said, We have walked to and
fro through the earth, and, behold, all the earth sitteth still, and is at rest.
And the riders answered the angel of the LORD who was standing among the
myrtle trees, “We have
patrolled the earth, and behold, all the earth is at rest and
tranquil.”
Cry yet, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; My cities
through prosperity shall yet be spread abroad; and the LORD shall yet comfort
Zion, and shall yet choose Jerusalem.
Proclaim further that this is what the LORD of Hosts says: ‘My cities will again overflow with prosperity; the LORD will again comfort
Zion and choose Jerusalem.’”
Then said I, What come these to do? And he spake, saying, These are the horns which have scattered Judah, so that no man did lift up his head: but these are come to
fray them, to cast out the horns of the Gentiles, which lifted up their horn over the land of Judah to
scatter it.
“What are these coming to do?” I asked. And He replied, “These are the horns that scattered Judah so that no one could raise his head; but the
craftsmen have come to
terrify them and
throw down these horns of the nations that have lifted up their horns against the land of Judah to
scatter it.”
For who hath
despised the day of small things? for they shall
rejoice, and shall see the
plummet in the hand of
Zerubbabel with those seven; they are the eyes of the LORD, which run to and
fro through the whole earth.
For who has
despised the day of small things? But these seven eyes of the LORD, which
scan the whole earth, will
rejoice when they see the
plumb line in the hand of
Zerubbabel.”
And I answered again, and said unto him, What be these two olive branches which through the two golden pipes empty the golden oil out of themselves?
And I questioned him further, “What are the two olive branches beside the two gold pipes from which the golden oil pours?”
And I said, What is it? And he said, This is an
ephah that goeth forth. He said moreover, This is their resemblance
through all the earth.
“What is it?” I asked. And he replied, “A measuring
basket is going forth.” Then he continued, “This is their iniquity in all the land.”
And the bay went forth, and sought to go that they might walk to and
fro through the earth: and he said, Get you hence, walk to and
fro through the earth. So they walked to and
fro through the earth.
As the strong horses went out, they were eager to go and
patrol the earth; and the LORD said, “Go and
patrol the earth.” So they
patrolled the earth.
Even he shall build the temple of the LORD; and he shall bear the glory, and shall sit and rule upon his throne; and he shall be a priest upon his throne: and the counsel of peace shall be between them both.
Yes, He will build the temple of the LORD; He will be clothed in
splendor and will sit on His
throne and rule. And He will be a priest on His
throne, and there will be peaceful counsel between the two.’
Should ye not hear the words which the LORD hath
cried by the former prophets, when Jerusalem was inhabited and in prosperity, and the cities thereof round about her, when men inhabited the south and the plain?
Are these not the words that the LORD proclaimed
through the earlier prophets, when Jerusalem and its surrounding towns were
populous and prosperous, and the Negev and the foothills were inhabited?’”
Yea, they made their hearts as an
adamant stone, lest they should hear the law, and the words which the LORD of hosts hath sent in his spirit by the former prophets: therefore came a great wrath from the LORD of hosts.
They made their hearts like flint and would not
listen to the law or to the words that the LORD of Hosts had sent by His Spirit
through the earlier prophets. Therefore great anger came from the LORD of Hosts.
But I scattered them with a
whirlwind among all the nations whom they knew not. Thus the land was
desolate after them, that no man passed
through nor returned: for they laid the pleasant land
desolate.
But I scattered them with a
whirlwind among all the nations that they had not known, and the land was left
desolate behind them so that no one could come or go. Thus they turned the pleasant land into a
desolation.”
And I will
encamp about mine house because of the army, because of him that passeth by, and because of him that returneth: and no
oppressor shall pass
through them any more: for now have I seen with mine eyes.
But I will camp around My house because of an army, because of those who march to and
fro, and never again will an
oppressor overrun My people, for now I keep watch with My own eyes.
The LORD of hosts shall defend them; and they shall
devour, and
subdue with
sling stones; and they shall drink, and make a noise as
through wine; and they shall be filled like
bowls, and as the corners of the altar.
The LORD of Hosts will shield them. They will destroy and
conquer with slingstones; they will drink and
roar as with wine. And they will be filled like
sprinkling bowls,
drenched like the corners of the altar.
And they of Ephraim shall be like a mighty man, and their heart shall
rejoice as
through wine:
yea, their children shall see it, and be
glad; their heart shall
rejoice in the LORD.
Ephraim will be like a mighty man, and their hearts will be
glad as with wine. Their children will see it and be joyful; their hearts will
rejoice in the LORD.
And he shall pass
through the sea with
affliction, and shall
smite the waves in the sea, and all the deeps of the river shall dry up: and the pride of Assyria shall be brought down, and the
sceptre of Egypt shall depart away.
They will pass
through the sea of distress and strike the waves of the sea; all the depths of the Nile will dry up. The pride of Assyria will be brought down, and the
scepter of Egypt will depart.
And the LORD said unto me, Cast it unto the
potter: a goodly price that I was prised at of them. And I took the thirty pieces of silver, and cast them to the
potter in the house of the LORD.
And the LORD said to me, “
Throw it to the
potter”—this magnificent price at which they valued me. So I took the thirty pieces of silver and threw them to the
potter in the house of the LORD.
And it shall come to pass, that when any shall yet
prophesy, then his father and his mother that
begat him shall say unto him, Thou shalt not live; for thou speakest lies in the name of the LORD: and his father and his mother that
begat him shall thrust him
through when he prophesieth.
And if
anyone still prophesies, his father and mother who bore him will say to him, ‘You shall not remain alive, because you have spoken falsely in the name of the LORD.’ When he prophesies, his father and mother who bore him will
pierce him
through.
And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they shall say, The LORD is my God.
This third I will bring through the fire; I will refine them like silver and test them like gold. They will call on My name, and I will answer them. I will say, ‘They are My people,’ and they will say, ‘The LORD is our God.’”
The burden of the word of the LORD to Israel by
Malachi.
This is the burden of the word of the LORD to Israel
through Malachi:
Whereas
Edom saith, We are
impoverished, but we will return and build the
desolate places; thus saith the LORD of hosts, They shall build, but I will
throw down; and they shall call them, The border of wickedness, and, The people against whom the LORD hath
indignation for ever.
Though
Edom may say, “We have been
devastated, but we will rebuild the ruins,” this is what the LORD of Hosts says: “They may build, but I will
demolish. They will be called the Land of Wickedness, and a people with whom the LORD is
indignant forever.
Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was
espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.
This is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about: His mother Mary was
pledged in marriage to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be with child
through the Holy Spirit.
Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,
All this took place to
fulfill what the Lord had said
through the prophet:
And was there until the death of Herod: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Out of Egypt have I called my son.
where he stayed until the death of Herod. This fulfilled what the Lord had spoken through the prophet: “Out of Egypt I called My Son.”
Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremy the prophet, saying,
Then what was spoken through the prophet Jeremiah was fulfilled:
And he came and dwelt in a city called
Nazareth: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, He shall be called a
Nazarene.
and he went and lived in a town called
Nazareth. So was fulfilled what was spoken
through the prophets: “He will be called a
Nazarene.”
For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.
This is he who was spoken of through the prophet Isaiah: “A voice of one calling in the wilderness, ‘Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for Him.’”
And now also the
axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is
hewn down, and cast into the fire.
The
axe lies ready at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and
thrown into the fire.
Whose
fan is in his hand, and he will
throughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the
garner; but he will burn up the
chaff with
unquenchable fire.
And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast
thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou
dash thy foot against a stone.
“If You are the Son of God,” he said, “
throw Yourself down. For it is written: ‘He will command His angels concerning You, and they will lift You up in their hands, so that You will not strike Your foot against a stone.’”
That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying,
to
fulfill what was spoken
through the prophet Isaiah:
And Jesus went about all
Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and
healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.
Jesus went
throughout Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and
healing every disease and sickness among the people.
And his fame went
throughout all Syria: and they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with
divers diseases and torments, and those which were possessed with devils, and those which were lunatick, and those that had the
palsy; and he
healed them.
News about Him spread all over Syria, and people brought to Him all who were ill with various diseases, those suffering acute pain, the
demon-possessed, those having seizures, and the
paralyzed—and He
healed them.
Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour,
wherewith shall it be salted? it is
thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be
trodden under foot of men.
You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its
savor, how can it be made
salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be
thrown out and
trampled by men.
