And
Joab said unto the king, Now the LORD thy God add unto the people, how many
soever they be, an
hundredfold, and that the eyes of my lord the king may see it: but why
doth my lord the king delight in this thing?
But
Joab replied to the king, “May the LORD your God multiply the troops a hundred
times over, and may the eyes of my lord the king see it. But why does my lord the king want to do such a thing?”

pestilence upon Israel from the morning even to the

And when the angel stretched out his hand upon Jerusalem to destroy it, the LORD
repented him of the evil, and said to the angel that destroyed the people, It is enough: stay now thine hand. And the angel of the LORD was by the threshingplace of Araunah the Jebusite.
But when the angel stretched out his hand to destroy Jerusalem, the LORD relented from the
calamity and said to the angel who was destroying the people, “Enough! Withdraw your hand now!” At that

Absalom.)

Abiathar the priest said the king, Get thee to Anathoth, unto thine own fields; for thou art worthy of death: but I will not at this
time put thee to death, because thou barest the ark of the Lord GOD before David my father, and because thou hast been
afflicted in all wherein my father was
afflicted.
Then the king said to
Abiathar the priest, “Go back to your fields in Anathoth. Even though you deserve to die, I will not put you to death at this
time, since you carried the ark of the Lord GOD before my father David, and you suffered through all that my father suffered.”

And let these my words,
wherewith I have made
supplication before the LORD, be
nigh unto the LORD our God day and night, that he maintain the cause of his servant, and the cause of his people Israel at all
times, as the matter shall require:
And may these words with which I have made my petition before the LORD be near to the LORD our God day and night, so that He may
uphold the cause of His servant and of His people Israel as each day requires,
And at that
time Solomon held a feast, and all Israel with him, a great congregation, from the entering in of
Hamath unto the river of Egypt, before the LORD our God, seven days and seven days, even fourteen days.

hamath to the
Brook of Egypt—kept the feast before the LORD our God for seven days and seven more days—fourteen days in all.

And the LORD said unto him, I have heard thy prayer and thy
supplication, that thou hast made before me: I have
hallowed this house, which thou hast built, to put my name there for ever; and mine eyes and mine heart shall be there perpetually.

Ahijah had
wrapped himself in a new
cloak, and the two of them were alone in the open field.

The rest of all the acts of
Asa, and all his might, and all that he did, and the cities which he built, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah? Nevertheless in the
time of his old age he was diseased in his feet.
Now the rest of the acts of
Asa, along with all his might, all his accomplishments, and the cities he built, are they not written in the Book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah? In his old age, however, he became diseased in his feet.

And it came to pass after many days, that the word of the LORD came to
Elijah in the third year, saying, Go,
shew thyself unto
Ahab; and I will send rain upon the earth.
After a long
time, in the third year of the
drought, the word of the LORD came to
Elijah: “Go and present
yourself to
Ahab, and I will send rain upon the face of the earth.”
And it came to pass, when
midday was past, and they
prophesied until the
time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that there was neither voice, nor any to answer, nor any that regarded.
Midday passed, and they kept on
raving until the
time of the evening sacrifice. But there was no
response; no one answered, no one paid attention.
And he said, Do it the second time. And they did it the second time. And he said, Do it the third time. And they did it the third time.
and said, “Fill four waterpots and pour the water on the offering and on the wood.” “Do it a second time,” he said, and they did it a second time. “Do it a third time,” he said, and they did it a third time.
And it came to pass at the
time of the offering of the evening sacrifice, that
Elijah the prophet came near, and said, LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and of Israel, let it be known this day that thou art God in Israel, and that I am thy servant, and that I have done all these things at thy word.

And said to his servant, Go up now, look toward the sea. And he went up, and looked, and said, There is nothing. And he said, Go again seven times.
“Go and look toward the sea,” he said to his servant. So the servant went and looked, and he said, “There is nothing there.” Seven
times Elijah said, “Go back.”
And it came to pass at the seventh
time, that he said, Behold, there ariseth a little cloud out of the sea, like a man’s hand. And he said, Go up, say unto
Ahab, Prepare thy
chariot, and get thee down, that the rain stop thee not.
On the seventh
time the servant reported, “There is a cloud as small as a man’s hand rising from the sea.” And
Elijah replied, “Go and tell
Ahab, ‘Prepare your
chariot and go down before the rain stops you.’”
Then
Jezebel sent a
messenger unto
Elijah, saying, So let the gods do to me, and more also, if I make not thy life as the life of one of them by to
morrow about this
time.
So
Jezebel sent a
messenger to
Elijah, saying, “May the gods deal with me, and ever so severely, if by this
time tomorrow I do not make your life like the lives of those you killed!”
And the angel of the LORD came again the second time, and touched him, and said, Arise and eat; because the journey is too great for thee.
A second time the angel of the LORD returned and touched him, saying, “Get up and eat, or the journey will be too much for you.”
Yet I will send my servants unto thee to
morrow about this
time, and they shall search thine house, and the houses of thy servants; and it shall be, that
whatsoever is pleasant in thine eyes, they shall put it in their hand, and take it away.
But about this
time tomorrow I will send my servants to search your palace and the houses of your servants. They will seize and carry away all that is precious to you.’”
Wherefore he said unto the messengers of Ben-
hadad, Tell my lord the king, All that thou
didst send for to thy servant at the first I will do: but this thing I may not do. And the messengers departed, and brought him word again.
So
Ahab answered the messengers of Ben-
hadad, “Tell my lord the king, ‘All that you demanded of your servant the first
time I will do, but this thing I cannot do.’” So the messengers departed and relayed the message to Ben-
hadad.
And it came to pass after these things, that
Naboth the Jezreelite had a
vineyard, which was in
Jezreel, hard by the palace of
Ahab king of Samaria.
And the king said unto him, How many
times shall I
adjure thee that thou tell me nothing but that which is true in the name of the LORD?
But the king said to him, “How many
times must I make you
swear not to tell me anything but the truth in the name of the LORD?”
And king Jehoram went out of Samaria the same time, and numbered all Israel.
So at that
time King Jehoram set out from Samaria and

Edom and filled the land.
And he said, About this season, according to the
time of life, thou shalt embrace a son. And she said,
Nay, my lord, thou man of God, do not lie unto thine
handmaid.
And
Elisha declared, “At this
time next year, you will hold a son in your arms.” “No, my lord,” she said. “Do not lie to your
maidservant, O man of God.”
And the woman conceived, and bare a son at that season that
Elisha had said unto her, according to the
time of life.
But the woman did conceive, and at that
time the next year she gave birth to a son, just as
Elisha had told her.
Then he returned, and walked in the house to and
fro; and went up, and stretched himself upon him: and the child
sneezed seven
times, and the child opened his eyes.
Elisha turned away and
paced back and forth across the room. Then he got on the bed and stretched himself out over the boy again, and the boy
sneezed seven
times and opened his eyes.
And the Syrians had gone out by companies, and had brought away
captive out of the land of Israel a little

Naaman’s wife.
At this
time the Arameans had gone out in bands and had taken a young

Naaman’s wife.
And
Elisha sent a
messenger unto him, saying, Go and wash in the Jordan seven
times, and thy flesh shall come again to thee, and thou shalt be clean.
Then
Elisha sent him a
messenger, who said, “Go and wash
yourself seven
times in the Jordan, and your flesh will be restored, and you will be clean.”
Then went he down, and
dipped himself seven
times in Jordan, according to the saying of the man of God: and his flesh came again like unto the flesh of a little child, and he was clean.
So
Naaman went down and
dipped himself in the Jordan seven
times, according to the word of the man of God, and his flesh was restored and became like that of a little child, and he was clean.
And he said unto him, Went not mine heart with thee, when the man turned again from his
chariot to meet thee? Is it a
time to receive money, and to receive garments, and oliveyards, and vineyards, and sheep, and oxen, and menservants, and maidservants?
But
Elisha questioned him, “Did not my spirit go with you when the man got down from his
chariot to meet you? Is this the
time to accept money and clothing, olive groves and vineyards, sheep and oxen, menservants and maidservants?
And the king of Israel sent to the place which the man of God told him and

Then
Elisha said, Hear ye the word of the LORD; Thus saith the LORD, To
morrow about this
time shall a measure of fine flour be sold for a
shekel, and two measures of barley for a
shekel, in the gate of Samaria.
Then
Elisha said, “Hear the word of the LORD! This is what the LORD says: ‘About this
time tomorrow at the gate of Samaria, a
seah of fine flour will sell for a
shekel, and two seahs of barley will sell for a
shekel.’”
And it came to pass as the man of God had spoken to the king, saying, Two measures of barley for a
shekel, and a measure of fine flour for a
shekel, shall be to
morrow about this
time in the gate of Samaria:
It happened just as the man of God had told the king: “About this
time tomorrow at the gate of Samaria, two seahs of barley will sell for a
shekel, and a
seah of fine flour will sell for a
shekel.”
Yet
Edom revolted from under the hand of Judah unto this day. Then
Libnah revolted at the same
time.
So to this day
Edom has been in rebellion against the hand of Judah. Likewise,
Libnah rebelled at the same
time.
Then he wrote a letter the second
time to them, saying, If ye be mine, and if ye will
hearken unto my voice, take ye the heads of the men your master’s sons, and come to me to
Jezreel by to
morrow this
time. Now the king’s sons, being seventy persons, were with the great men of the city, which brought them up.
Then
Jehu wrote them a second letter and said: “If you are on my side, and if you will obey me, then bring the heads of your master’s sons to me at
Jezreel by this
time tomorrow.” Now the sons of the king, seventy in all, were being brought up by the leading men of the city.
And the
time that
Jehu reigned over Israel in Samaria was twenty and eight years.
So the duration of
Jehu’s reign over Israel in Samaria was twenty-eight years.

And he said, Take the arrows. And he took them. And he said unto the king of Israel,
Smite upon the ground. And he
smote thrice, and stayed.
Then
Elisha said, “Take the arrows!” So he took them, and
Elisha said to the king of Israel, “Strike the ground!” So he struck the ground three
times and stopped.
And the man of God was
wroth with him, and said, Thou shouldest have
smitten five or six
times; then hadst thou
smitten Syria till thou hadst consumed it: whereas now thou shalt
smite Syria but
thrice.
But the man of God was
angry with him and said, “You should have struck the ground five or six
times. Then you would have struck down
Aram until you had put an end to it. But now you will strike down
Aram only three
times.”
And Jehoash the son of
Jehoahaz took again out of the hand of Ben-

Then Jehoash son of

hadad three
times, and so recovered the cities of Israel.

everyone in its vicinity, because they would not open their gates. So he attacked Tiphsah and
ripped open all the
pregnant women.

time King
Ahaz had returned.
He removed the high places, and
brake the images, and cut down the groves, and
brake in pieces the
brasen serpent that Moses had made: for unto those days the children of Israel did burn incense to it: and he called it
Nehushtan.
He removed the high places,
shattered the sacred pillars, and cut down the Asherah poles. He also
demolished the bronze
snake called
Nehushtan that Moses had made, for up to that
time the Israelites had burned incense to it.
At that
time did
Hezekiah cut off the gold from the doors of the temple of the LORD, and from the pillars which
Hezekiah king of Judah had overlaid, and gave it to the king of Assyria.

time Hezekiah stripped the gold with which he had plated the doors and doorposts of the temple of the LORD, and he gave it to the king of Assyria.
Hast thou not heard long ago how I have done it, and of ancient
times that I have formed it? now have I brought it to pass, that thou shouldest be to lay waste
fenced cities into
ruinous heaps.
Have you not heard? Long ago I ordained it; in days of old I
planned it. Now I have brought it to pass, that you should
crush fortified cities into piles of
rubble.
At that
time Berodach-baladan, the son of Baladan, king of Babylon, sent letters and a present unto
Hezekiah: for he had heard that
Hezekiah had been sick.
At that
time Merodach-baladan son of Baladan king of Babylon sent letters and a gift to
Hezekiah, for he had heard about
Hezekiah’s illness.
Behold, the days come, that all that is in thine house, and that which thy fathers have laid up in store unto this day, shall be carried into Babylon: nothing shall be left, saith the LORD.
The time will surely come when everything in your palace and all that your fathers have stored up until this day will be carried off to Babylon. Nothing will be left, says the LORD.
And he made his son pass through the fire, and observed
times, and used enchantments, and dealt with familiar spirits and wizards: he wrought much wickedness in the sight of the LORD, to
provoke him to anger.
He sacrificed his own son in the fire, practiced
sorcery and
divination, and consulted mediums and spiritists. He did great evil in the sight of the LORD,
provoking Him to anger.
At that
time the servants of
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came up against Jerusalem, and the city was besieged.
At that
time the servants of
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon marched up to Jerusalem, and the city came under siege.
And
Phinehas the son of
Eleazar was the ruler over them in
time past, and the Lord was with him.
In earlier
times Phinehas son of

And their brethren, which were in their villages, were to come after seven days from time to time with them.
Their relatives came from their villages at fixed times to serve with them for seven-day periods.
And moreover in
time past, even when Saul was king, thou
wast he that leddest out and broughtest in Israel: and the LORD thy God said unto thee, Thou shalt feed my people Israel, and thou shalt be ruler over my people Israel, and thou shalt be ruler over my people Israel.
Even in
times past, while Saul was king, you were the one who led Israel out and brought them back. And the LORD your God said, ‘You will
shepherd My people Israel, and you will be ruler over them.’”
And this is the number of the mighty men whom David had; Jashobeam, an Hachmonite, the chief of the captains: he lifted up his
spear against three hundred slain by him at one
time.
This is the list of David’s mighty men: Jashobeam son of Hachmoni was chief of the officers; he
wielded his
spear against three hundred men, whom he killed at one
time.
And David was then in the hold, and the Philistines’ garrison was then at
Bethlehem.
At that
time David was in the
stronghold, and the garrison of the Philistines was at
Bethlehem.
For at that time day by day there came to David to help him, until it was a great host, like the host of God.
For at that time men came to David day after day to help him, until he had a great army, like the army of God.
And of the children of Benjamin, the kindred of Saul, three thousand: for hitherto the greatest part of them had kept the ward of the house of Saul.
From Benjamin, the
kinsmen of Saul: 3,000, most of whom had remained
loyal to the house of Saul up to that
time.
And of the children of
Issachar, which were men that had understanding of the
times, to know what Israel ought to do; the heads of them were two hundred; and all their brethren were at their commandment.
From
Issachar, men who understood the
times and knew what Israel should do: 200 chiefs with all their
kinsmen at their command.
For because ye did it not at the first, the LORD our God made a breach upon us, for that we sought him not after the due order.
It was because you Levites were not with us the first
time that the LORD our God
burst forth in anger against us. For we did not
consult Him about the proper order.”
And since the
time that I commanded judges to be over my people Israel. Moreover I will
subdue all thine enemies.
Furthermore I tell thee that the LORD will build thee an house.
and have done since the day I appointed judges over My people Israel. And I will
subdue all your enemies. Moreover, I declare to you that the LORD will build a house for you.
Now after this it came to pass, that David
smote the Philistines, and subdued them, and took
Gath and her towns out of the hand of the Philistines.
Some
time later, David defeated the Philistines, subdued them, and took
Gath and its villages from the hand of the Philistines.
Now it came to pass after this, that Nahash the king of the children of
Ammon died, and his son reigned in his
stead.

time later, Nahash king of the
Ammonites died and was succeeded by his son.
And it came to pass, that after the year was
expired, at the
time that kings go out to battle,

tarried at Jerusalem. And
Joab smote Rabbah, and destroyed it.
In the spring, at the
time when kings march out to war,
Joab led out the army and
ravaged the land of the
Ammonites. He came to Rabbah and besieged it, but David remained in Jerusalem. And
Joab attacked Rabbah and
demolished it.
And it came to pass after this, that there arose war at
Gezer with the Philistines; at which
time Sibbechai the Hushathite
slew Sippai, that was of the children of the
giant: and they were subdued.
Some
time later, war broke out with the Philistines at
Gezer. At that
time Sibbecai the Hushathite killed Sippai, a
descendant of the
Rephaim, and the Philistines were subdued.
And
Joab answered, The LORD make his people an hundred
times so many more as they be: but, my lord the king, are they not all my lord’s servants? why then
doth my lord require this thing? why will he be a cause of
trespass to Israel?
But
Joab replied, “May the LORD multiply His troops a hundred
times over. My lord the king, are they not all servants of my lord? Why does my lord want to do this? Why should he bring guilt on Israel?”
And God sent an angel unto Jerusalem to destroy it: and as he was destroying, the LORD
beheld, and he
repented him of the evil, and said to the angel that destroyed, It is enough, stay now thine hand. And the angel of the LORD stood by the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite.
Then God sent an angel to destroy Jerusalem, but as the angel was doing so, the LORD saw it and relented from the
calamity, and He said to the angel who was destroying the people, “Enough! Withdraw your hand now!” At that
time the angel of the LORD was standing by the
threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.
At that time when David saw that the LORD had answered him in the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite, then he sacrificed there.
At that
time, when David saw that the LORD had answered him at the
threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite, he offered sacrifices there.
And did eat and drink before the LORD on that day with great
gladness. And they made Solomon the son of David king the second
time, and
anointed him unto the LORD to be the chief governor, and
Zadok to be priest.
That day they
ate and
drank with great joy in the presence of the LORD. Then, for a second
time, they designated David’s son Solomon as king,
anointing him before the LORD as ruler, and
Zadok as the priest.
And the
time that he reigned over Israel was forty years; seven years reigned he in
Hebron, and thirty and three years reigned he in Jerusalem.
The length of David’s reign over Israel was forty years—seven years in
Hebron and thirty-three years in Jerusalem.
With all his reign and his might, and the times that went over him, and over Israel, and over all the kingdoms of the countries.
together with all the details of his reign, his might, and the circumstances that came upon him and Israel and all the kingdoms of the lands.
Then Solomon assembled the elders of Israel, and all the heads of the tribes, the chief of the fathers of the children of Israel, unto Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of the covenant of the LORD out of the city of David, which is
Zion.
At that
time Solomon assembled in Jerusalem the elders of Israel—all the
tribal heads and family leaders of the Israelites—to bring up the ark of the covenant of the LORD from
Zion, the City of David.
Also at the same
time Solomon kept the feast seven days, and all Israel with him, a very great congregation, from the entering in of
Hamath unto the river of Egypt.
So at that
time Solomon and all Israel with him—a very great assembly of people from Lebo-
hamath to the
Brook of Egypt—kept the feast for seven days.
For now have I chosen and
sanctified this house, that my name may be there for ever: and mine eyes and mine heart shall be there perpetually.
For I have now chosen and consecrated this temple so that My Name may be there
forever. My eyes and My heart will be there for all
time.
Then Solomon offered burnt offerings unto the LORD on the altar of the LORD, which he had built before the
porch,
At that
time Solomon offered burnt offerings to the LORD on the altar of the LORD he had built in front of the
portico.
Even after a certain rate every day, offering according to the commandment of Moses, on the sabbaths, and on the new moons, and on the solemn feasts, three
times in the year, even in the feast of
unleavened bread, and in the feast of weeks, and in the feast of tabernacles.
He observed the daily requirement for offerings according to the commandment of Moses for Sabbaths, New Moons, and the three annual appointed feasts—the Feast of
Unleavened Bread, the Feast of Weeks, and the Feast of Tabernacles.
Thus the children of Israel were brought under at that
time, and the children of Judah prevailed, because they
relied upon the LORD God of their fathers.
Thus the Israelites were subdued at that
time, and the men of Judah prevailed because they
relied on the LORD, the God of their fathers.
And in those times there was no peace to him that went out, nor to him that came in, but great vexations were upon all the inhabitants of the countries.
In those days there was no safety for travelers, because the residents of the lands had many conflicts.
And they offered unto the LORD the same
time, of the
spoil which they had brought, seven hundred oxen and seven thousand sheep.
At that
time they sacrificed to the LORD seven hundred oxen and seven thousand sheep from all the
plunder they had brought back.
And at that
time Hanani the
seer came to
Asa king of Judah, and said unto him, Because thou hast
relied on the king of Syria, and not
relied on the LORD thy God, therefore is the host of the king of Syria escaped out of thine hand.
At that
time Hanani the
seer came to King
Asa of Judah and told him, “Because you have
relied on the king of
Aram and not on the LORD your God, the army of the king of
Aram has escaped from your hand.
Then
Asa was
wroth with the
seer, and put him in a prison house; for he was in a
rage with him because of this thing. And
Asa oppressed some of the people the same
time.
And the king said to him, How many
times shall I
adjure thee that thou say nothing but the truth to me in the name of the LORD?
But the king said to him, “How many
times must I make you
swear not to tell me anything but the truth in the name of the LORD?”
And the battle increased that day:
howbeit the king of Israel stayed himself up in his
chariot against the Syrians until the even: and about the
time of the sun going down he died.
The battle
raged throughout that day, and the king of Israel
propped himself up in his
chariot facing the Arameans until evening. And at
sunset he died.
So the Edomites revolted from under the hand of Judah unto this day. The same
time also did
Libnah revolt from under his hand; because he had
forsaken the LORD God of his fathers.
So to this day
Edom has been in rebellion against the hand of Judah. Likewise,
Libnah rebelled against his rule at the same
time, because Jehoram had
forsaken the LORD, the God of his fathers.
