And the children of
Dan went their
way: and when
Micah saw that they were too strong for him, he turned and went back unto his house.
So the Danites went on their
way, and
Micah turned to go back home, because he saw that they were too strong for him.
And it came to pass on the fourth day, when they arose early in the morning, that he rose up to depart: and the
damsel’s father said unto his son in law, Comfort thine heart with a
morsel of bread, and afterward go your
way.
On the fourth day, they got up early in the morning and prepared to depart, but the
girl’s father said to his son-in-law, “Refresh your heart with a
morsel of bread, and then you can go.”
And when the man rose up to depart, he, and his
concubine, and his servant, his father in law, the
damsel’s father, said unto him, Behold, now the day draweth toward evening, I pray you
tarry all night: behold, the day groweth to an end,
lodge here, that thine heart may be
merry; and to
morrow get you early on your
way, that thou mayest go home.
When the man got up to depart with his
concubine and his servant, his father-in-law, the
girl’s father, said to him, “Look, the day is drawing to a close. Please
spend the night. See, the day is almost over.
Spend the night here, that your heart may be
merry. Then you can get up early
tomorrow for your journey home.”
And they passed on and went their way; and the sun went down upon them when they were by Gibeah, which belongeth to Benjamin.
So they continued on their journey, and the sun set as they neared Gibeah in Benjamin.
And when he had lifted up his eyes, he saw a
wayfaring man in the street of the city: and the old man said,
Whither goest thou? and whence comest thou?
When he looked up and saw the traveler in the city square, the old man asked, “Where are you going, and where have you come from?”
And her lord rose up in the morning, and opened the doors of the house, and went out to go his
way: and, behold, the woman his
concubine was fallen down at the door of the house, and her hands were upon the
threshold.
In the morning, when her master got up and opened the doors of the house to go out on his journey, there was his
concubine,
collapsed in the
doorway of the house, with her hands on the
threshold.
Therefore they turned their backs before the men of Israel unto the way of the wilderness; but the battle overtook them; and them which came out of the cities they destroyed in the midst of them.
So they fled before the men of Israel toward the wilderness, but the battle overtook them, and the men coming out of the cities struck them down there.
Wherefore she went forth out of the place where she was, and her two daughters in law with her; and they went on the way to return unto the land of Judah.
Accompanied by her two daughters-in-law, she left the place where she had been living and set out on the road leading back to the land of Judah.
Turn again, my daughters, go your way; for I am too old to have an husband. If I should say, I have hope, if I should have an husband also to night, and should also bear sons;
Return home, my daughters. Go on, for I am too old to have another husband. Even if I thought there was hope for me to have a husband
tonight and to bear sons,
And she said, Let thine
handmaid find grace in thy sight. So the woman went her
way, and did eat, and her countenance was no more
sad.
“May your
maidservant find favor with you,” said
Hannah. Then she went on her
way, and she began eating again, and her face was no longer
downcast.
And there ran a man of Benjamin out of the army, and came to
Shiloh the same day with his clothes rent, and with earth upon his head.
That same day a
Benjamite ran from the battle line all the
way to
Shiloh, with his clothes
torn and
dirt on his head.
And when he came, lo,
Eli sat upon a seat by the
wayside watching: for his heart
trembled for the ark of God. And when the man came into the city, and told it, all the city
cried out.
When he arrived, there was
Eli, sitting on his chair beside the road and watching, because his heart
trembled for the ark of God. When the man entered the city to give a report, the whole city
cried out.
Wherefore then do ye
harden your hearts, as the Egyptians and Pharaoh
hardened their hearts? when he had wrought wonderfully among them, did they not let the people go, and they departed?
Why
harden your hearts as the Egyptians and Pharaoh
hardened theirs? When He
afflicted them, did they not send the people on their
way as they departed?
And take the ark of the LORD, and lay it upon the
cart; and put the jewels of gold, which ye return him for a
trespass offering, in a
coffer by the side thereof; and send it away, that it may go.
Take the ark of the LORD, set it on the
cart, and in a chest beside it put the gold objects you are sending Him as a guilt offering. Then send the ark on its
way,
And see, if it goeth up by the
way of his own coast to Beth-shemesh, then he hath done us this great evil: but if not, then we shall know that it is not his hand that
smote us; it was a chance that happened to us.
but keep watching it. If it goes up the road to its homeland, toward Beth-shemesh, it is the LORD who has brought on us this great
disaster. But if it does not, then we will know that it was not His hand that punished us and that it happened by chance.”
And the
kine took the straight
way to the
way of Beth-shemesh, and went along the
highway, lowing as they went, and turned not aside to the right hand or to the left; and the lords of the Philistines went after them unto the border of Beth-shemesh.
And the cows headed straight up the road toward Beth-shemesh, staying on that one
highway and lowing as they went, never
straying to the right or to the left. The rulers of the Philistines followed behind them to the border of Beth-shemesh.
And the men of Israel went out of Mizpeh, and pursued the Philistines, and
smote them, until they came under Beth-
car.
Then the men of Israel charged out of
Mizpah and pursued the Philistines, striking them down all the
way to an area below Beth-
car.
And his sons walked not in his
ways, but turned aside after
lucre, and took bribes, and
perverted judgment.
But his sons did not walk in his
ways; they turned aside toward
dishonest gain, accepting bribes and
perverting justice.
And said unto him, Behold, thou art old, and thy sons walk not in thy ways: now make us a king to judge us like all the nations.
“Look,” they said, “you are old, and your sons do not walk in your
ways. Now
appoint a king to judge us like all the other nations.”
And he said unto him, Behold now, there is in this city a man of God, and he is an honourable man; all that he saith cometh surely to pass: now let us go thither;
peradventure he can
shew us our
way that we should go.
“Look,” said the servant, “in this city there is a man of God who is highly respected; everything he says surely comes to pass. Let us go there now. Perhaps he will tell us which way to go.”
And the servant answered Saul again, and said, Behold, I have here at hand the fourth part of a
shekel of silver: that will I give to the man of God, to tell us our
way.
The servant answered him again. “Look,” he said, “I have here in my hand a quarter
shekel of silver. I will give it to the man of God, and he will tell us our
way.”
(Formerly in Israel, a man on his
way to inquire of God would say, “Come, let us go to the
seer.” For the prophet of
today was formerly called the
seer.)
And they went up into the city: and when they were come into the city, behold, Samuel came out against them, for to go up to the high place.
So Saul and his servant went up toward the city, and as they were entering it, there was Samuel coming toward them on his way up to the high place.
And they arose early: and it came to pass about the spring of the day, that Samuel called Saul to the top of the house, saying, Up, that I may send thee away. And Saul arose, and they went out both of them, he and Samuel, abroad.
They got up early in the morning, and just before
dawn Samuel called to Saul on the roof, “Get ready, and I will send you on your
way!” So Saul arose, and both he and Samuel went outside together.
Moreover as for me, God
forbid that I should sin against the LORD in ceasing to pray for you: but I will teach you the good and the right
way:
As for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the LORD by ceasing to pray for you. And I will continue to teach you the good and right way.
And the spoilers came out of the camp of the Philistines in three companies: one company turned unto the way that leadeth to Ophrah, unto the land of Shual:
And raiders went out of the
Philistine camp in three divisions. One headed toward Ophrah in the land of Shual,
And another company turned the
way to Beth-horon: and another company turned to the
way of the border that looketh to the valley of
Zeboim toward the wilderness.
another toward Beth-horon, and the third down the border road overlooking the Valley of
Zeboim facing the wilderness.
Thus saith the LORD of hosts, I remember that which Amalek did to Israel, how he laid wait for him in the way, when he came up from Egypt.
This is what the LORD of Hosts says: ‘I witnessed what the
Amalekites did to the Israelites when they
ambushed them on their
way up from Egypt.
Then Saul struck down the
Amalekites all the
way from
Havilah to Shur, which is east of Egypt.
And Saul said unto Samuel,
Yea, I have obeyed the voice of the LORD, and have gone the
way which the LORD sent me, and have brought
Agag the king of Amalek, and have utterly destroyed the
Amalekites.
“But I did obey the LORD,” Saul replied. “I went on the mission that the LORD gave me. I brought back
Agag king of Amalek and devoted the
Amalekites to destruction.
And the men of Israel and of Judah arose, and
shouted, and pursued the Philistines, until thou come to the valley, and to the gates of
Ekron. And the wounded of the Philistines fell down by the
way to Shaaraim, even unto
Gath, and unto
Ekron.
Then the men of Israel and Judah charged forward with a
shout and pursued the Philistines to the entrance of
Gath and to the gates of
Ekron. And the bodies of the Philistines were
strewn along the Shaaraim road to
Gath and
Ekron.
And David
behaved himself wisely in all his
ways; and the LORD was with him.
and he continued to
prosper in all his
ways, because the LORD was with him.
The LORD do so and much more to
Jonathan: but if it please my father to do thee evil, then I will
shew it thee, and send thee away, that thou mayest go in peace: and the LORD be with thee, as he hath been with my father.
But if my father intends to bring evil on you, then may the LORD
punish me, and ever so severely, if I do not tell you and send you on your
way in safety. May the LORD be with you, just as He has been with my father.
But if I say thus unto the young man, Behold, the arrows are beyond thee; go thy way: for the LORD hath sent thee away.
But if I say to the young man, ‘Look, the arrows are beyond you,’ then you must go, for the LORD has sent you away.
And he came to the sheepcotes by the way, where was a cave; and Saul went in to cover his feet: and David and his men remained in the sides of the cave.
Soon Saul came to the sheepfolds along the road, where there was a cave, and he went in to
relieve himself. And David and his men were hiding in the recesses of the cave.
So David stayed his servants with these words, and suffered them not to rise against Saul. But Saul rose up out of the cave, and went on his way.
With these words David restrained his men, and he did not let them rise up against Saul. Then Saul left the cave and went on his way.
So David’s young men turned their way, and went again, and came and told him all those sayings.
So David’s men turned around and went back, and they relayed to him all these words.
And Saul pitched in the hill of Hachilah, which is before Jeshimon, by the way. But David abode in the wilderness, and he saw that Saul came after him into the wilderness.
Saul camped beside the road at the hill of Hachilah opposite Jeshimon, but David was living in the wilderness. When he realized that Saul had followed him there,
Then Saul said to David, Blessed be thou, my son David: thou shalt both do great things, and also shalt still prevail. So David went on his way, and Saul returned to his place.
Saul said to him, “May you be blessed, David my son. You will
accomplish great things and will surely prevail.” So David went on his
way, and Saul returned home.
Now therefore, I pray thee,
hearken thou also unto the voice of thine
handmaid, and let me set a
morsel of bread before thee; and eat, that thou mayest have strength, when thou goest on thy
way.
Now please
listen to your servant and let me set a
morsel of bread before you so you may eat and have the strength to go on your
way.”
And the princes of the Philistines were
wroth with him; and the princes of the Philistines said unto him, Make this fellow return, that he may go again to his place which thou hast appointed him, and let him not go down with us to battle, lest in the battle he be an
adversary to us: for
wherewith should he
reconcile himself unto his master? should it not be with the heads of these men?
But the commanders of the Philistines were
angry with Achish and told him, “Send that man back and let him return to the place you assigned him. He must not go down with us into battle only to become our
adversary during the war. What better
way for him to regain the favor of his master than with the heads of our men?
And had taken the women
captives, that were therein: they
slew not any, either great or small, but carried them away, and went on their
way.
They had taken
captive the women and all who were there, both young and old. They had not killed
anyone, but had carried them off as they went on their
way.
Joab also and
Abishai pursued after
Abner: and the sun went down when they were come to the hill of Ammah, that lieth before Giah by the
way of the wilderness of
Gibeon.
But
Joab and
Abishai pursued
Abner. By
sunset, they had gone as far as the hill of Ammah opposite Giah on the
way to the wilderness of
Gibeon.
And her husband went with her along
weeping behind her to Bahurim. Then said
Abner unto him, Go, return. And he returned.
Her husband followed her,
weeping all the
way to Bahurim. Then
Abner said to him, “Go back.” So he returned home.
And, Behold, the servants of David and
Joab came from pursuing a
troop, and brought in a great
spoil with them: but
Abner was not with David in
Hebron; for he had sent him away, and he was gone in peace.
Just then David’s soldiers and
Joab returned from a
raid, bringing with them a great
plunder. But
Abner was not with David in
Hebron because David had sent him on his
way in peace.
When
Joab and all the host that was with him were come, they told
Joab, saying,
Abner the son of
Ner came to the king, and he hath sent him away, and he is gone in peace.
When
Joab and all his troops arrived, he was informed, “
Abner son of
Ner came to see the king, who sent him on his
way in peace.”
For when they came into the house, he lay on his bed in his
bedchamber, and they
smote him, and
slew him, and
beheaded him, and took his head, and
gat them away through the plain all night.
They had entered the house while
Ish-bosheth was lying on his bed, and having
stabbed and killed him, they
beheaded him, took his head, and traveled all night by
way of the Arabah.
So David dwelt in the fort, and called it the city of David. And David built round about from
Millo and inward.
So David took up residence in the fortress and called it the City of David. He built it up all the way around, from the supporting terraces inward.
And David did so, as the LORD had commanded him; and
smote the Philistines from Geba until thou come to
Gazer.
So David did as the LORD had commanded him, and he struck down the Philistines all the
way from
Gibeon to
Gezer.
But my mercy shall not depart away from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I put away before thee.
But My loving devotion will never be removed from him as I removed it from Saul, whom I moved out of your way.
And there came a traveller unto the rich man, and he
spared to take of his own flock and of his own
herd, to dress for the
wayfaring man that was come unto him; but took the poor man’s lamb, and dressed it for the man that was come to him.
Now a traveler came to the rich man, who
refrained from taking one of his own sheep or cattle to prepare for the traveler who had come to him. Instead, he took the poor man’s lamb and prepared it for his
guest.”
And it came to pass, while they were in the
way, that
tidings came to David, saying,
Absalom hath slain all the king’s sons, and there is not one of them left.
While they were on the
way, a report reached David: “
Absalom has struck down all the sons of the king; not one of them is left!”
But
Absalom fled. And the young man that kept the watch lifted up his eyes, and looked, and, behold, there came much people by the
way of the hill side behind him.
Meanwhile,
Absalom had fled. When the young man standing watch looked up, he saw many people coming down the road west of him, along the side of the hill. And the
watchman went and reported to the king, “I see men coming from the direction of Horonaim, along the side of the hill.”
For we must needs die, and are as water
spilt on the ground, which cannot be gathered up again; neither
doth God respect any person: yet
doth he
devise means, that his banished be not expelled from him.
For surely we will die and be like water poured out on the ground, which cannot be recovered. Yet God does not take away a life; but He devises ways that the banished one may not be cast out from Him.
And
Absalom rose up early, and stood beside the
way of the gate: and it was so, that when any man that had a controversy came to the king for judgment, then
Absalom called unto him, and said, Of what city art thou? And he said, Thy servant is of one of the tribes of Israel.
He would get up early and stand beside the road leading to the city gate. Whenever
anyone had a
grievance to bring before the king for a decision,
Absalom would call out and ask, “What city are you from?” And if he replied, “Your servant is from one of the tribes of Israel,”
And on this manner did
Absalom to all Israel that came to the king for judgment: so
Absalom stole the hearts of the men of Israel.
Absalom did this to all the Israelites who came to the king for justice. In this
way he
stole the hearts of the men of Israel.
And all the country
wept with a loud voice, and all the people passed over: the king also himself passed over the
brook Kidron, and all the people passed over, toward the
way of the wilderness.
Everyone in the
countryside was
weeping loudly as all the people passed by. And as the king crossed the Kidron Valley, all the people also passed toward the
way of the wilderness.
And as David and his men went by the
way, Shimei went along on the hill’s side over against him, and
cursed as he went, and threw stones at him, and cast dust.
So David and his men proceeded along the road as Shimei went along the ridge of the hill opposite him. As Shimei went, he
yelled curses, threw stones, and
flung dust at David.
But
howsoever, said he, let me run. And he said unto him, Run. Then
Ahimaaz ran by the
way of the plain, and overran Cushi.
“No matter what, I want to run!” he replied. “Then run!”
Joab told him. So
Ahimaaz ran by
way of the plain and outran the
Cushite.
And Barzillai the Gileadite came down from Rogelim, and went over Jordan with the king, to conduct him over Jordan.
Now Barzillai the Gileadite had come down from Rogelim to cross the Jordan with the king and send him on his way from there.
Thy servant will go a little
way over Jordan with the king: and why should the king
recompense it me with such a reward?
Your servant could go with the king only a short distance past the Jordan; why should the king repay me with such a reward?
So every man of Israel went up from after David, and followed
Sheba the son of Bichri: but the men of Judah
clave unto their king, from Jordan even to Jerusalem.
So all the men of Israel deserted David to follow
Sheba son of Bichri. But the men of Judah stayed by their king all the
way from the Jordan to Jerusalem.
For I have kept the ways of the LORD, and have not wickedly departed from my God.
For I have kept the ways of the LORD and have not wickedly departed from my God.
As for God, his
way is perfect; the word of the LORD is tried: he is a
buckler to all them that trust in him.
As for God, His
way is perfect; the word of the LORD is
flawless. He is a shield to all who take refuge in Him.
God is my strength and power: and he maketh my way perfect.
God is my strong fortress and He makes my way clear.
Thou hast enlarged my steps under me; so that my feet did not slip.
You
broaden the path beneath me so that my ankles do not give
way.
And his father had not displeased him at any time in saying, Why hast thou done so? and he also was a very goodly man; and his mother bare him after
Absalom.
(His father had never once
reprimanded him by saying, “Why do you act this
way?” Adonijah was also very handsome, born next after
Absalom.)
And all the guests that were with Adonijah were afraid, and rose up, and went every man his way.
At this, all the guests of Adonijah arose in terror and scattered.
I go the
way of all the earth: be thou strong therefore, and
shew thyself a man;
“I am about to go the
way of all the earth. So be strong and prove
yourself a man.
And keep the charge of the LORD thy God, to walk in his
ways, to keep his statutes, and his commandments, and his judgments, and his
testimonies, as it is written in the law of Moses, that thou mayest
prosper in all that thou doest, and
whithersoever thou turnest
thyself:
And keep the charge of the LORD your God to walk in His
ways and to keep His statutes, commandments, ordinances, and decrees, as is written in the Law of Moses, so that you may
prosper in all you do and wherever you turn,
That the LORD may continue his word which he spake concerning me, saying, If thy children take
heed to their
way, to walk before me in truth with all their heart and with all their soul, there shall not fail thee (said he) a man on the throne of Israel.
and so that the LORD may
fulfill His promise to me: ‘If your descendants take
heed to walk faithfully before Me with all their heart and soul, you will never fail to have a man on the throne of Israel.’
And if thou
wilt walk in my
ways, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as thy father David did walk, then I will
lengthen thy days.
So if you walk in My
ways and keep My statutes and commandments, just as your father David did, I will
prolong your days.”
So also made he for the door of the temple posts of olive tree, a fourth part of the wall.
In the same way he made four-sided doorposts of olive wood for the sanctuary entrance.
And under the
brim of it round about there were knops compassing it, ten in a
cubit, compassing the sea round about: the knops were cast in two rows, when it was cast.
Below the
rim, ornamental buds
encircled it, ten per
cubit all the
way around the Sea, cast in two rows as a part of the Sea.
After this manner he made the ten bases: all of them had one casting, one measure, and one size.
In this way he made the ten stands, each with the same casting, dimensions, and shape.
Therefore now, LORD God of Israel, keep with thy servant David my father that thou promisedst him, saying, There shall not fail thee a man in my sight to sit on the throne of Israel; so that thy children take
heed to their
way, that they walk before me as thou hast walked before me.
Therefore now, O LORD, God of Israel, keep for Your servant, my father David, what You promised when You said: ‘You will never fail to have a man to sit before Me on the throne of Israel, if only your descendants guard their way to walk before Me as you have done.’
Then hear thou in heaven, and do, and judge thy servants,
condemning the wicked, to bring his
way upon his head; and
justifying the righteous, to give him according to his righteousness.
then may You hear from heaven and act. May You judge Your servants,
condemning the wicked man by bringing down on his own head what he has done, and
justifying the righteous man by rewarding him according to his righteousness.
Then hear thou in heaven, and
forgive the sin of thy servants, and of thy people Israel, that thou teach them the good
way wherein they should walk, and give rain upon thy land, which thou hast given to thy people for an inheritance.
then may You hear from heaven and
forgive the sin of Your servants, Your people Israel, so that You may teach them the good
way in which they should walk. May You send rain on the land that You gave Your people as an inheritance.
Then hear thou in heaven thy dwelling place, and
forgive, and do, and give to every man according to his
ways, whose heart thou knowest; (for thou, even thou only, knowest the hearts of all the children of men;)
be heard by You from heaven, Your dwelling place. And may You
forgive and act, and repay each man according to all his
ways, since You know his heart—for You alone know the hearts of all men—
That he may
incline our hearts unto him, to walk in all his
ways, and to keep his commandments, and his statutes, and his judgments, which he commanded our fathers.
May He
incline our hearts to Himself, to walk in all His
ways and to keep the commandments and statutes and ordinances He commanded our fathers.
And it came to pass at that time when
Jeroboam went out of Jerusalem, that the prophet
Ahijah the Shilonite found him in the
way; and he had
clad himself with a new garment; and they two were alone in the field:
During that time, the prophet
Ahijah the Shilonite met
Jeroboam on the road as he was going out of Jerusalem. Now
Ahijah had
wrapped himself in a new
cloak, and the two of them were alone in the open field.
Because that they have
forsaken me, and have worshipped
Ashtoreth the goddess of the Zidonians,
Chemosh the god of the Moabites, and Milcom the god of the children of
Ammon, and have not walked in my
ways, to do that which is right in mine eyes, and to keep my statutes and my judgments, as did David his father.
For they have
forsaken Me to worship
Ashtoreth the goddess of the Sidonians,
Chemosh the god of the Moabites, and Milcom the god of the
Ammonites. They have not walked in My
ways, nor done what is right in My eyes, nor kept My statutes and judgments, as Solomon’s father David did.
And it shall be, if thou
wilt hearken unto all that I command thee, and
wilt walk in my
ways, and do that is right in my sight, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as David my servant did; that I will be with thee, and build thee a sure house, as I built for David, and will give Israel unto thee.
If you
listen to all that I command you, walk in My
ways, and do what is right in My sight in order to keep My statutes and commandments as My servant David did, then I will be with you. I will build you a lasting dynasty just as I built for David, and I will give Israel to you.
For so was it charged me by the word of the LORD, saying, Eat no bread, nor drink water, nor turn again by the same way that thou camest.
For this is what I was commanded by the word of the LORD: ‘You must not eat bread or drink water or return by the way you came.’”
So he went another
way, and returned not by the
way that he came to
Bethel.
So the man of God went another
way and did not return by the
way he had come to
Bethel.
And their father said unto them, What way went he? For his sons had seen what way the man of God went, which came from Judah.
“Which way did he go?” their father asked. And his sons showed him the way taken by the man of God, who had come from Judah.
For it was said to me by the word of the LORD, Thou shalt eat no bread nor drink water there, nor turn again to go by the way that thou camest.
For I have been told by the word of the LORD: ‘You must not eat bread or drink water there or return by the way you came.’”
And when he was gone, a lion met him by the
way, and
slew him: and his
carcase was cast in the
way, and the
ass stood by it, the lion also stood by the
carcase.
As he went on his
way, a lion met him on the road and killed him, and his body was left lying in the road, with the
donkey and the lion standing beside it.
And, behold, men passed by, and saw the
carcase cast in the
way, and the lion standing by the
carcase: and they came and told it in the city where the old prophet dwelt.
And there were men passing by who saw the body lying in the road with the lion standing beside it, and they went and reported this in the city where the old prophet lived.
And when the prophet that brought him back from the
way heard thereof, he said, It is the man of God, who was
disobedient unto the word of the LORD: therefore the LORD hath delivered him unto the lion, which hath
torn him, and slain him, according to the word of the LORD, which he spake unto him.
When the prophet who had brought him back from his journey heard this, he said, “It is the man of God who disobeyed the command of the LORD. Therefore the LORD has delivered him to the lion, and it has
mauled him and killed him, according to the word that the LORD had spoken to him.”
and he went and found the body lying in the road, with the
donkey and the lion standing beside it. The lion had not eaten the body or
mauled the
donkey.
After this thing
Jeroboam returned not from his evil
way, but made again of the lowest of the people priests of the high places:
whosoever would, he consecrated him, and he became one of the priests of the high places.
Even after these events,
Jeroboam did not
repent of his evil
ways, but again he appointed priests for the high places from every class of people. He ordained
anyone who desired to be a priest of the high places.
And he did evil in the sight of the LORD, and walked in the
way of his father, and in his sin
wherewith he made Israel to sin.
And he did evil in the sight of the LORD and walked in the way of his father and in his sin, which he had caused Israel to commit.
And he did evil in the sight of the LORD, and walked in the
way of
Jeroboam, and in his sin
wherewith he made Israel to sin.
And
Baasha did evil in the sight of the LORD and walked in the
way of
Jeroboam and in his sin, which he had caused Israel to commit.
Forasmuch as I
exalted thee out of the dust, and made thee prince over my people Israel; and thou hast walked in the
way of
Jeroboam, and hast made my people Israel to sin, to
provoke me to anger with their sins;
“Even though I lifted you out of the dust and made you ruler over My people Israel, you have walked in the
way of
Jeroboam and have caused My people Israel to sin and to
provoke Me to anger by their sins.
For his sins which he
sinned in doing evil in the sight of the LORD, in walking in the
way of
Jeroboam, and in his sin which he did, to make Israel to sin.
because of the sins he had committed, doing evil in the sight of the LORD and following the example of
Jeroboam and the sin he had committed and had caused Israel to commit.
For he walked in all the
way of
Jeroboam the son of Nebat, and in his sin
wherewith he made Israel to sin, to
provoke the LORD God of Israel to anger with their
vanities.
For he walked in all the
ways of
Jeroboam son of Nebat and in his sins, which he caused Israel to commit,
provoking the LORD, the God of Israel, to anger with their worthless idols.
So they divided the land between them to pass throughout it:
Ahab went one
way by himself, and
Obadiah went another
way by himself.
So they divided the land to
explore.
Ahab went one
way by himself, and
Obadiah went the other
way by himself.
And as
Obadiah was in the
way, behold,
Elijah met him: and he knew him, and fell on his face, and said, Art thou that my lord
Elijah?
Now as
Obadiah went on his
way,
Elijah suddenly met him. When
Obadiah recognized him, he fell facedown and said, “Is it you, my lord
Elijah?”
And the hand of the LORD was on
Elijah; and he
girded up his loins, and ran before
Ahab to the entrance of
Jezreel.
