Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I
will stretch out mine hand upon the Philistines, and I
will cut off the Cherethims, and destroy the
remnant of the sea coast.
therefore this is what the Lord GOD says: Behold, I
will stretch out My hand against the Philistines, and I
will cut off the Cherethites and destroy the
remnant along the coast.
Son of man, because that Tyrus hath said against Jerusalem,
Aha, she is broken that was the gates of the people: she is turned unto me: I shall be
replenished, now she is laid waste:
“Son of man, because Tyre has said of Jerusalem, ‘
Aha! The gate to the nations is broken; it has
swung open to me; now that she lies in ruins I
will be filled,’
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, O Tyrus, and will cause many nations to come up against thee, as the sea causeth his waves to come up.
therefore this is what the Lord GOD says: ‘Behold, O Tyre, I am against you, and I will raise up many nations against you, as the sea brings up its waves.
And they shall destroy the walls of Tyrus, and break down her towers: I
will also
scrape her dust from her, and make her like the top of a rock.
They
will destroy the walls of Tyre and
demolish her towers. I
will scrape the soil from her and make her a bare rock.
It shall be a place for the spreading of nets in the midst of the sea: for I have spoken it, saith the Lord GOD: and it shall become a
spoil to the nations.
She
will become a place to spread nets in the sea, for I have spoken, declares the Lord GOD. She
will become
plunder for the nations,
And her daughters which are in the field shall be slain by the sword; and they shall know that I am the LORD.
and the villages on her mainland will be slain by the sword. Then they will know that I am the LORD.’
For thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I
will bring upon Tyrus Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, a king of kings, from the north, with horses, and with
chariots, and with
horsemen, and companies, and much people.
For this is what the Lord GOD says: ‘Behold, I
will bring against Tyre from the north
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, king of kings, with horses and
chariots, with cavalry and a great company of troops.
He shall
slay with the sword thy daughters in the field: and he shall make a fort against thee, and cast a mount against thee, and lift up the
buckler against thee.
He
will slaughter the villages of your mainland with the sword; he
will set up siege works against you, build a
ramp to your walls, and raise his shields against you.
And he shall set engines of war against thy walls, and with his axes he shall break down thy towers.
He
will direct the blows of his
battering rams against your walls and
tear down your towers with his axes.
By reason of the abundance of his horses their dust shall cover thee: thy walls shall
shake at the noise of the
horsemen, and of the wheels, and of the
chariots, when he shall enter into thy gates, as men enter into a city wherein is made a breach.
His multitude of horses
will cover you in their dust. When he enters your gates as an army entering a breached city, your walls
will shake from the noise of cavalry, wagons, and
chariots.
With the
hoofs of his horses shall he
tread down all thy streets: he shall
slay thy people by the sword, and thy strong garrisons shall go down to the ground.
The
hooves of his horses
will trample all your streets. He
will slaughter your people with the sword, and your mighty pillars
will fall to the ground.
And they shall make a
spoil of thy riches, and make a prey of thy
merchandise: and they shall break down thy walls, and destroy thy pleasant houses: and they shall lay thy stones and thy timber and thy dust in the midst of the water.
And I will cause the noise of thy songs to cease; and the sound of thy harps shall be no more heard.
So I will silence the sound of your songs, and the music of your lyres will no longer be heard.
And I will make thee like the top of a rock: thou shalt be a place to spread nets upon; thou shalt be built no more: for I the LORD have spoken it, saith the Lord GOD.
I will make you a bare rock, and you will become a place to spread the fishing nets. You will never be rebuilt, for I, the LORD, have spoken, declares the Lord GOD.’
Thus saith the Lord GOD to Tyrus; Shall not the isles
shake at the sound of thy fall, when the wounded cry, when the slaughter is made in the midst of thee?
This is what the Lord GOD says to Tyre: ‘
Will not the coastlands
quake at the sound of your
downfall, when the wounded
groan at the slaughter in your midst?
Then all the princes of the sea shall come down from their thrones, and lay away their robes, and put off their
broidered garments: they shall
clothe themselves with
trembling; they shall sit upon the ground, and shall
tremble at every moment, and be
astonished at thee.
All the princes of the sea
will descend from their thrones, remove their robes, and strip off their
embroidered garments. Clothed with terror, they
will sit on the ground,
trembling every moment,
appalled over you.
And they shall take up a
lamentation for thee, and say to thee, How art thou destroyed, that
wast inhabited of
seafaring men, the
renowned city, which
wast strong in the sea, she and her inhabitants, which cause their terror to be on all that
haunt it!
Then they
will lament for you, saying, “How you have perished, O city of
renown inhabited by
seafaring men— she who was powerful on the sea, along with her people, who imposed terror on all peoples!
When I shall bring thee down with them that descend into the pit, with the people of old time, and shall set thee in the low parts of the earth, in places
desolate of old, with them that go down to the pit, that thou be not inhabited; and I shall set glory in the land of the living;
then I
will bring you down with those who descend to the Pit, to the people of antiquity. I
will make you dwell in the earth below like the ancient ruins, with those who descend to the Pit, so that you
will no longer be inhabited or set in
splendor in the land of the living.
I will make thee a terror, and thou shalt be no more: though thou be sought for, yet shalt thou never be found again, saith the Lord GOD.
I
will make you an object of
horror, and you
will be no more. You
will be sought, but
will never be found,’ declares the Lord GOD.”
Thy rowers have brought thee into great waters: the east wind hath broken thee in the midst of the seas.
Your
oarsmen have brought you
onto the high seas, but the east wind
will shatter you in the heart of the sea.
Thy riches, and thy fairs, thy
merchandise, thy mariners, and thy pilots, thy calkers, and the occupiers of thy
merchandise, and all thy men of war, that are in thee, and in all thy company which is in the midst of thee, shall fall into the midst of the seas in the day of thy ruin.
Your wealth, wares, and
merchandise, your sailors, captains, and shipwrights, your merchants and all the warriors within you, with all the other people on board,
will sink into the heart of the sea on the day of your
downfall.
The suburbs shall
shake at the sound of the cry of thy pilots.
And all that handle the
oar, the mariners, and all the pilots of the sea, shall come down from their ships, they shall stand upon the land;
All who handle the oars
will abandon their ships. The sailors and all the captains of the sea
will stand on the shore.
And shall cause their voice to be heard against thee, and shall cry bitterly, and shall cast up dust upon their heads, they shall
wallow themselves in the ashes:
They will raise their voices for you and cry out bitterly. They will throw dust on their heads and roll in ashes.
And they shall make themselves utterly
bald for thee, and
gird them with
sackcloth, and they shall
weep for thee with bitterness of heart and bitter
wailing.
And in their
wailing they shall take up a
lamentation for thee, and
lament over thee, saying, What city is like Tyrus, like the destroyed in the midst of the sea?
As they
wail and
mourn over you, they
will take up a
lament for you: ‘Who was ever like Tyre, silenced in the middle of the sea?
The merchants among the people shall hiss at thee; thou shalt be a terror, and never shalt be any more.
Those who trade among the nations hiss at you; you have come to a
horrible end and
will be no more.’”
Behold, therefore I
will bring strangers upon thee, the terrible of the nations: and they shall draw their swords against the beauty of thy wisdom, and they shall
defile thy brightness.
behold, I
will bring foreigners against you, the most
ruthless of nations. They
will draw their swords against the beauty of your wisdom and
will defile your
splendor.
They shall bring thee down to the pit, and thou shalt die the deaths of them that are slain in the midst of the seas.
They will bring you down to the Pit, and you will die a violent death in the heart of the seas.
Wilt thou yet say before him that slayeth thee, I am God? but thou shalt be a man, and no God, in the hand of him that slayeth thee.
Will you still say, ‘I am a god,’ in the presence of those who
slay you? You
will be only a man, not a god, in the hands of those who wound you.
Thou shalt die the deaths of the
uncircumcised by the hand of strangers: for I have spoken it, saith the Lord GOD.
You
will die the death of the
uncircumcised at the hands of foreigners. For I have spoken, declares the Lord GOD.”
By the multitude of thy
merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast
sinned: therefore I
will cast thee as
profane out of the mountain of God: and I
will destroy thee, O covering
cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire.
By the vastness of your trade, you were filled with violence, and you
sinned. So I drove you in disgrace from the mountain of God, and I banished you, O
guardian cherub, from among the
fiery stones.
Thine heart was lifted up because of thy beauty, thou hast corrupted thy wisdom by reason of thy brightness: I will cast thee to the ground, I will lay thee before kings, that they may behold thee.
Your heart grew proud of your beauty; you corrupted your wisdom because of your
splendor; so I cast you to the earth; I made you a
spectacle before kings.
Thou hast
defiled thy
sanctuaries by the multitude of thine
iniquities, by the iniquity of thy
traffick; therefore
will I bring forth a fire from the midst of thee, it shall
devour thee, and I
will bring thee to ashes upon the earth in the sight of all them that behold thee.
By the multitude of your
iniquities and the
dishonesty of your trading you have
profaned your
sanctuaries. So I made fire come from within you, and it consumed you. I reduced you to ashes on the ground in the eyes of all who saw you.
All they that know thee among the people shall be
astonished at thee: thou shalt be a terror, and never shalt thou be any more.
All the nations who know you are
appalled over you. You have come to a
horrible end and
will be no more.’”
And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against thee, O Zidon; and I
will be
glorified in the midst of thee: and they shall know that I am the LORD, when I shall have executed judgments in her, and shall be
sanctified in her.
And you are to declare that this is what the Lord GOD says: ‘Behold, I am against you, O
Sidon, and I
will be
glorified within you. They
will know that I am the LORD when I
execute judgments against her and
demonstrate My
holiness through her.
For I
will send into her
pestilence, and blood into her street; and the wounded shall be judged in the midst of her by the sword upon her on every side; and they shall know that I am the LORD.
I will send a plague against her and shed blood in her streets; the slain will fall within her, while the sword is against her on every side. Then they will know that I am the LORD.
And there shall be no more a
pricking brier unto the house of Israel, nor any
grieving thorn of all that are round about them, that
despised them; and they shall know that I am the Lord GOD.
For the people of Israel
will no longer face a
pricking brier or a painful
thorn from all around them who treat them with contempt. Then they
will know that I am the Lord GOD.’
Thus saith the Lord GOD; When I shall have gathered the house of Israel from the people among whom they are scattered, and shall be
sanctified in them in the sight of the heathen, then shall they dwell in their land that I have given to my servant Jacob.
This is what the Lord GOD says: ‘When I gather the house of Israel from the peoples among whom they have been scattered, I will show Myself holy among them in the sight of the nations. Then they will dwell in their own land, which I have given to My servant Jacob.
And they shall dwell safely therein, and shall build houses, and plant vineyards;
yea, they shall dwell with confidence, when I have executed judgments upon all those that
despise them round about them; and they shall know that I am the LORD their God.
And there they
will dwell securely, build houses, and plant vineyards. They
will dwell securely when I
execute judgments against all those around them who treat them with contempt. Then they
will know that I am the LORD their God.’”
But I will put hooks in thy jaws, and I will cause the fish of thy rivers to stick unto thy scales, and I will bring thee up out of the midst of thy rivers, and all the fish of thy rivers shall stick unto thy scales.
But I
will put hooks in your jaws and cause the fish of your streams to
cling to your scales. I
will haul you up out of your rivers, and all the fish of your streams
will cling to your scales.
And I will leave thee thrown into the wilderness, thee and all the fish of thy rivers: thou shalt fall upon the open fields; thou shalt not be brought together, nor gathered: I have given thee for meat to the beasts of the field and to the fowls of the heaven.
I will leave you in the desert, you and all the fish of your streams. You will fall on the open field and will not be taken away or gathered for burial. I have given you as food to the beasts of the earth and the birds of the air.
And all the inhabitants of Egypt shall know that I am the LORD, because they have been a staff of reed to the house of Israel.
Then all the people of Egypt will know that I am the LORD. For you were only a staff of reeds to the house of Israel.
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I will bring a sword upon thee, and cut off man and beast out of thee.
Therefore this is what the Lord GOD says: I will bring a sword against you and cut off from you man and beast.
And the land of Egypt shall be
desolate and waste; and they shall know that I am the LORD: because he hath said, The river is mine, and I have made it.
The land of Egypt
will become a
desolate wasteland. Then they
will know that I am the LORD. Because you said, ‘The Nile is mine; I made it,’
Behold, therefore I am against thee, and against thy rivers, and I
will make the land of Egypt utterly waste and
desolate, from the tower of
Syene even unto the border of
Ethiopia.
therefore I am against you and against your rivers. I
will turn the land of Egypt into a ruin, a
desolate wasteland from
Migdol to
Syene, and as far as the border of
Cush.
No foot of man shall pass through it, nor foot of beast shall pass through it, neither shall it be inhabited forty years.
No foot of man or beast will pass through, and it will be uninhabited for forty years.
And I
will make the land of Egypt
desolate in the midst of the countries that are
desolate, and her cities among the cities that are laid waste shall be
desolate forty years: and I
will scatter the Egyptians among the nations, and
will disperse them through the countries.
I
will make the land of Egypt a
desolation among
desolate lands, and her cities
will lie
desolate for forty years among the ruined cities. And I
will disperse the Egyptians among the nations and
scatter them throughout the countries.
Yet thus saith the Lord GOD; At the end of forty years
will I gather the Egyptians from the people
whither they were scattered:
For this is what the Lord GOD says: At the end of forty years I will gather the Egyptians from the nations to which they were scattered.
And I
will bring again the captivity of Egypt, and
will cause them to return into the land of Pathros, into the land of their
habitation; and they shall be there a base kingdom.
I will restore Egypt from captivity and bring them back to the land of Pathros, the land of their origin. There they will be a lowly kingdom.
It shall be the basest of the kingdoms; neither shall it
exalt itself any more above the nations: for I
will diminish them, that they shall no more rule over the nations.
Egypt
will be the lowliest of kingdoms and
will never again
exalt itself above the nations. For I
will diminish Egypt so that it
will never again rule over the nations.
And it shall be no more the confidence of the house of Israel, which bringeth their iniquity to
remembrance, when they shall look after them: but they shall know that I am the Lord GOD.
Egypt will never again be an object of trust for the house of Israel, but will remind them of their iniquity in turning to the Egyptians. Then they will know that I am the Lord GOD.”
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I
will give the land of Egypt unto Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon; and he shall take her multitude, and take her
spoil, and take her prey; and it shall be the wages for his army.
Therefore this is what the Lord GOD says: I
will give the land of Egypt to
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, who
will carry off its wealth, seize its
spoil, and remove its
plunder. This
will be the wages for his army.
In that day
will I cause the horn of the house of Israel to
bud forth, and I
will give thee the opening of the mouth in the midst of them; and they shall know that I am the LORD.
In that day I
will cause a horn to
sprout for the house of Israel, and I
will open your mouth to speak among them. Then they
will know that I am the LORD.”
For the day is near, even the day of the LORD is near, a
cloudy day; it shall be the time of the heathen.
For the day is near, the Day of the LORD is near. It
will be a day of clouds, a time of
doom for the nations.
And the sword shall come upon Egypt, and great pain shall be in
Ethiopia, when the slain shall fall in Egypt, and they shall take away her multitude, and her foundations shall be broken down.
A sword
will come against Egypt, and there
will be
anguish in
Cush when the slain fall in Egypt, its wealth is taken away, and its foundations are
torn down.
Ethiopia, and
Libya, and
Lydia, and all the mingled people, and
Chub, and the men of the land that is in league, shall fall with them by the sword.
Cush, Put, and Lud, and all the various peoples, as well as
Libya and the men of the covenant land,
will fall with Egypt by the sword.
Thus saith the LORD; They also that
uphold Egypt shall fall; and the pride of her power shall come down: from the tower of
Syene shall they fall in it by the sword, saith the Lord GOD.
For this is what the LORD says: The allies of Egypt
will fall, and her proud strength
will collapse. From
Migdol to
Syene they
will fall by the sword within her, declares the Lord GOD.
And they shall be
desolate in the midst of the countries that are
desolate, and her cities shall be in the midst of the cities that are wasted.
They
will be
desolate among
desolate lands, and their cities
will lie among ruined cities.
And they shall know that I am the LORD, when I have set a fire in Egypt, and when all her helpers shall be destroyed.
Then they
will know that I am the LORD when I set fire to Egypt and all her helpers are
shattered.
In that day shall messengers go forth from me in ships to make the careless Ethiopians afraid, and great pain shall come upon them, as in the day of Egypt: for, lo, it cometh.
Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will also make the multitude of Egypt to cease by the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon.
This is what the Lord GOD says: I
will put an end to the hordes of Egypt by the hand of
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon.
He and his people with him, the terrible of the nations, shall be brought to destroy the land: and they shall draw their swords against Egypt, and fill the land with the slain.
He and his people with him, the most
ruthless of the nations,
will be brought in to destroy the land. They
will draw their swords against Egypt and fill the land with the slain.
And I will make the rivers dry, and sell the land into the hand of the wicked: and I will make the land waste, and all that is therein, by the hand of strangers: I the LORD have spoken it.
I
will make the streams dry up and sell the land to the wicked. By the hands of foreigners I
will bring
desolation upon the land and everything in it. I, the LORD, have spoken.
Thus saith the Lord GOD; I
will also destroy the idols, and I
will cause their images to cease out of
Noph; and there shall be no more a prince of the land of Egypt: and I
will put a fear in the land of Egypt.
This is what the Lord GOD says: I
will destroy the idols and put an end to the images in
Memphis. There
will no longer be a prince in Egypt, and I
will instill fear in that land.
And I
will make Pathros
desolate, and
will set fire in Zoan, and
will execute judgments in No.
I
will lay waste Pathros, set fire to Zoan, and
execute judgment on
Thebes.
And I
will pour my
fury upon Sin, the strength of Egypt; and I
will cut off the multitude of No.
And I
will set fire in Egypt: Sin shall have great pain, and No shall be rent
asunder, and
Noph shall have distresses daily.
The young men of
Aven and of
Pi-beseth shall fall by the sword: and these cities shall go into captivity.
The young men of On and
Pi-beseth
will fall by the sword, and those cities
will go into captivity.
At Tehaphnehes also the day shall be
darkened, when I shall break there the yokes of Egypt: and the
pomp of her strength shall cease in her: as for her, a cloud shall cover her, and her daughters shall go into captivity.
The day
will be
darkened in Tahpanhes when I break the yoke of Egypt and her proud strength comes to an end. A cloud
will cover her, and her daughters
will go into captivity.
Thus
will I
execute judgments in Egypt: and they shall know that I am the LORD.
So I
will execute judgment on Egypt, and they
will know that I am the LORD.”
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against Pharaoh king of Egypt, and will break his arms, the strong, and that which was broken; and I will cause the sword to fall out of his hand.
Therefore this is what the Lord GOD says: Behold, I am against Pharaoh king of Egypt. I will break his arms, both the strong one and the one already broken, and will make the sword fall from his hand.
And I
will scatter the Egyptians among the nations, and
will disperse them through the countries.
I
will disperse the Egyptians among the nations and
scatter them throughout the lands.
And I
will strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon, and put my sword in his hand: but I
will break Pharaoh’s arms, and he shall
groan before him with the groanings of a deadly wounded man.
I
will strengthen the arms of Babylon’s king and place My sword in his hand, but I
will break the arms of Pharaoh, who
will groan before him like a
mortally wounded man.
But I
will strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon, and the arms of Pharaoh shall fall down; and they shall know that I am the LORD, when I shall put my sword into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall stretch it out upon the land of Egypt.
I
will strengthen the arms of Babylon’s king, but Pharaoh’s arms
will fall
limp. Then they
will know that I am the LORD, when I place My sword in the hand of Babylon’s king, and he wields it against the land of Egypt.
And I
will scatter the Egyptians among the nations, and
disperse them among the countries; and they shall know that I am the LORD.
I
will disperse the Egyptians among the nations and
scatter them throughout the lands. Then they
will know that I am the LORD.”
To whom art thou thus like in glory and in greatness among the trees of
Eden? yet shalt thou be brought down with the trees of
Eden unto the
nether parts of the earth: thou shalt lie in the midst of the
uncircumcised with them that be slain by the sword. This is Pharaoh and all his multitude, saith the Lord GOD.
Who then is like you in glory and greatness among the trees of
Eden? You also
will be brought down to the depths of the earth to be with the trees of
Eden. You
will lie among the
uncircumcised, with those slain by the sword. This is Pharaoh and all his multitude, declares the Lord GOD.’”
Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will therefore spread out my net over thee with a company of many people; and they shall bring thee up in my net.
This is what the Lord GOD says: ‘I will spread My net over you with a company of many peoples, and they will draw you up in My net.
Then will I leave thee upon the land, I will cast thee forth upon the open field, and will cause all the fowls of the heaven to remain upon thee, and I will fill the beasts of the whole earth with thee.
I
will abandon you on the land and
hurl you into the open field. I
will cause all the birds of the air to settle upon you, and all the beasts of the earth to eat their fill of you.
And I will lay thy flesh upon the mountains, and fill the valleys with thy height.
I will put your flesh on the mountains and fill the valleys with your remains.
I will also water with thy blood the land wherein thou swimmest, even to the mountains; and the rivers shall be full of thee.
I
will drench the land with the flow of your blood, all the way to the mountains— the ravines
will be filled.
And when I shall put thee out, I will cover the heaven, and make the stars thereof dark; I will cover the sun with a cloud, and the moon shall not give her light.
When I
extinguish you, I
will cover the heavens and
darken their stars. I
will cover the sun with a cloud, and the moon
will not give its light.
All the bright lights of heaven will I make dark over thee, and set darkness upon thy land, saith the Lord GOD.
All the
shining lights in the heavens I
will darken over you, and I
will bring darkness upon your land,’ declares the Lord GOD.
I
will also
vex the hearts of many people, when I shall bring thy destruction among the nations, into the countries which thou hast not known.
‘I will trouble the hearts of many peoples, when I bring about your destruction among the nations, in countries you do not know.
Yea, I
will make many people
amazed at thee, and their kings shall be
horribly afraid for thee, when I shall
brandish my sword before them; and they shall
tremble at every moment, every man for his own life, in the day of thy fall.
I
will cause many peoples to be
appalled over you, and their kings
will shudder in
horror because of you when I
brandish My sword before them. On the day of your
downfall each of them
will tremble every moment for his life.’
For thus saith the Lord GOD; The sword of the king of Babylon shall come upon thee.
For this is what the Lord GOD says: ‘The sword of the king of Babylon will come against you!
By the swords of the mighty
will I cause thy multitude to fall, the terrible of the nations, all of them: and they shall
spoil the
pomp of Egypt, and all the multitude thereof shall be destroyed.
I
will make your hordes fall by the swords of the mighty, the most
ruthless of all nations. They
will ravage the pride of Egypt and all her multitudes
will be destroyed.
I
will destroy also all the beasts thereof from beside the great waters; neither shall the foot of man trouble them any more, nor the
hoofs of beasts trouble them.
I
will slaughter all her cattle beside the abundant waters. No human foot
will muddy them again, and no cattle
hooves will disturb them.
Then will I make their waters deep, and cause their rivers to run like oil, saith the Lord GOD.
Then I will let her waters settle and will make her rivers flow like oil,’ declares the Lord GOD.
When I shall make the land of Egypt
desolate, and the country shall be destitute of that
whereof it was full, when I shall
smite all them that dwell therein, then shall they know that I am the LORD.
‘When I make the land of Egypt a
desolation and empty it of all that filled it, when I strike down all who live there, then they
will know that I am the LORD.’
This is the
lamentation wherewith they shall
lament her: the daughters of the nations shall
lament her: they shall
lament for her, even for Egypt, and for all her multitude, saith the Lord GOD.
This is the
lament they
will chant for her; the daughters of the nations
will chant it. Over Egypt and all her multitudes they
will chant it, declares the Lord GOD.”
They shall fall in the midst of them that are slain by the sword: she is delivered to the sword: draw her and all her multitudes.
They
will fall among those slain by the sword. The sword is appointed! Let them
drag her away along with all her multitudes.
The strong among the mighty shall speak to him out of the midst of
hell with them that help him: they are gone down, they lie
uncircumcised, slain by the sword.
Mighty chiefs
will speak from the midst of
Sheol about Egypt and her allies: ‘They have come down and lie with the
uncircumcised, with those slain by the sword.’
Yea, thou shalt be broken in the midst of the
uncircumcised, and shalt lie with them that are slain with the sword.
Pharaoh shall see them, and shall be comforted over all his multitude, even Pharaoh and all his army slain by the sword, saith the Lord GOD.
Pharaoh will see them and be comforted over all his multitude— Pharaoh and all his army, slain by the sword, declares the Lord GOD.
For I have caused my terror in the land of the living: and he shall be laid in the midst of the
uncircumcised with them that are slain with the sword, even Pharaoh and all his multitude, saith the Lord GOD.
For I
will spread My terror in the land of the living, so that Pharaoh and all his multitude
will be laid to rest among the
uncircumcised, with those slain by the sword, declares the Lord GOD.”
Then
whosoever heareth the sound of the
trumpet, and taketh not
warning; if the sword come, and take him away, his blood shall be upon his own head.
Then if
anyone hears the sound of the horn but fails to
heed the
warning, and the sword comes and takes him away, his blood
will be on his own head.
He heard the sound of the
trumpet, and took not
warning; his blood shall be upon him. But he that taketh
warning shall deliver his soul.
Since he heard the sound of the horn but failed to
heed the
warning, his blood
will be on his own head. If he had
heeded the
warning, he would have saved his life.
But if the
watchman see the sword come, and blow not the
trumpet, and the people be not
warned; if the sword come, and take any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood
will I require at the
watchman’s hand.
But if the
watchman sees the sword coming and fails to blow the horn to
warn the people, and the sword comes and takes away a life, then that one
will be taken away in his iniquity, but I
will hold the
watchman accountable for his blood.’
