listen to my speech. For I have slain a man for
wounding me, a young man for striking me.
He that is wounded in the stones, or hath his privy member cut off, shall not enter into the congregation of the LORD.
No man with
crushed or severed
genitals may enter the assembly of the LORD.
See now that I, even I, am he, and there is no god with me: I kill, and I make alive; I
wound, and I
heal: neither is there any that can deliver out of my hand.
See now that I am He; there is no God besides Me. I bring death and I give life; I
wound and I
heal, and there is no one who can deliver from My hand.

wounded!”

Joram went back to be

Joram son of

conspired against him for the blood of the sons of Jehoiada the priest, and
slew him on his bed, and he died: and they buried him in the city of David, but they buried him not in the
sepulchres of the kings.
And when the Arameans had withdrawn, they left
Joash severely
wounded. His own servants
conspired against him for
shedding the blood of the son of Jehoiada the priest, and they killed him on his bed. So he died and was buried in the City of David, but not in the tombs of the kings.

captives, and with the
spoil clothed all that were naked among them, and
arrayed them, and
shod them, and gave them to eat and to drink, and
anointed them, and carried all the feeble of them upon
asses, and brought them to
Jericho, the city of palm trees, to their brethren: then they returned to Samaria.

sandals and food and drink,
anointed their
wounds, and put all the feeble on
donkeys. So they brought them to
Jericho, the City of Palms, to their brothers. Then they returned to Samaria.

For he maketh
sore, and bindeth up: he
woundeth, and his hands make whole.
For He
wounds, but He also binds; He strikes, but His hands also
heal.
For he breaketh me with a
tempest, and multiplieth my
wounds without cause.
For He would
crush me with a
tempest and multiply my
wounds without cause.
He breaketh me with breach upon breach, he runneth upon me like a
giant.
He breaks me with
wound upon
wound; He rushes me like a mighty
warrior.
Men
groan from out of the city, and the soul of the
wounded crieth out: yet God layeth not folly to them.
From the city, men
groan, and the souls of the
wounded cry out, yet God charges no one with
wrongdoing.
Should I lie against my right? my
wound is incurable without
transgression.
Would I lie about my case? My
wound is incurable, though I am without
transgression.’
I have wounded them that they were not able to rise: they are fallen under my feet.
I
crushed them so they could not rise; they have fallen under my feet.
My
wounds are foul and
festering because of my sinful folly.
But God shall shoot at them with an
arrow; suddenly shall they be
wounded.
But God will shoot them with arrows; suddenly they will be wounded.
But God shall
wound the head of his enemies, and the
hairy scalp of such an one as goeth on still in his trespasses.
Surely God will
crush the heads of His enemies, the
hairy crowns of those who
persist in guilty ways.
For they
persecute him whom thou hast
smitten; and they talk to the grief of those whom thou hast
wounded.
For they
persecute the one You struck and recount the pain of those You
wounded.
For I am poor and
needy, and my heart is
wounded within me.
For I am poor and
needy; my heart is
wounded within me.
He shall judge among the heathen, he shall fill the places with the dead bodies; he shall wound the heads over many countries.
He will judge the nations,
heaping up the dead; He will
crush the leaders far and wide.
He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.
He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.
A
wound and dishonour shall he get; and his reproach shall not be
wiped away.
Wounds and dishonor will
befall him, and his reproach will never be
wiped away.
For she hath cast down many
wounded:
yea, many strong men have been slain by her.
For she has brought many down to death; her slain are many in number.
The words of a
gossip are like choice morsels that go down into the inmost being.
The spirit of a man will
sustain his
infirmity; but a
wounded spirit who can bear?
The spirit of a man can
endure his sickness, but who can
survive a broken spirit?
The blueness of a
wound cleanseth away evil: so do stripes the inward parts of the
belly.
Lashes and
wounds scour evil, and beatings
cleanse the inmost parts.
Who hath
woe? who hath sorrow? who hath contentions? who hath
babbling? who hath
wounds without cause? who hath redness of eyes?
Who has
woe? Who has sorrow? Who has contentions? Who has complaints? Who has needless
wounds? Who has
bloodshot eyes?
As he that taketh away a garment in cold weather, and as
vinegar upon
nitre, so is he that singeth songs to an heavy heart.
Like one who removes a garment on a cold day or
vinegar poured on a
wound is one who sings songs to a heavy heart.
The great God that formed all things both rewardeth the
fool, and rewardeth transgressors.
The words of a
gossip are like choice morsels that go down into the inmost being.
Faithful are the
wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are
deceitful.
The
wounds of a friend are faithful, but the kisses of an enemy are
deceitful.
The
watchmen that went about the city found me, they
smote me, they
wounded me; the keepers of the walls took away my
veil from me.
Why should ye be
stricken any more? ye will revolt more and more: the whole head is sick, and the whole heart
faint.
Why do you want more beatings? Why do you keep rebelling? Your head has a massive
wound, and your whole heart is
afflicted.
From the sole of the foot even unto the head there is no soundness in it; but
wounds, and bruises, and putrifying sores: they have not been closed, neither bound up, neither
mollified with
ointment.
From the sole of your foot to the top of your head, there is no soundness— only
wounds and welts and
festering sores neither
cleansed nor
bandaged nor
soothed with oil.
Moreover the light of the moon shall be as the light of the sun, and the light of the sun shall be
sevenfold, as the light of seven days, in the day that the LORD bindeth up the breach of his people, and healeth the stroke of their
wound.
The light of the moon will be as bright as the sun, and the light of the sun will be seven times brighter—like the light of seven days—on the day that the LORD binds up the brokenness of His people and heals the wounds He has inflicted.
Awake,
awake, put on strength, O arm of the LORD;
awake, as in the ancient days, in the generations of old. Art thou not it that hath cut
Rahab, and
wounded the
dragon?
Awake,
awake, put on strength, O arm of the LORD.
Wake up as in days past, as in generations of old. Was it not You who cut
Rahab to pieces, who pierced through the
dragon?
But He was pierced for our transgressions, He was
crushed for our
iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are
healed.
For the LORD hath called thee as a woman
forsaken and
grieved in spirit, and a wife of youth, when thou
wast refused, saith thy God.
For the LORD has called you back, like a wife deserted and wounded in spirit, like the rejected wife of one’s youth,” says your God.
As a fountain casteth out her waters, so she casteth out her wickedness: violence and
spoil is heard in her; before me continually is grief and
wounds.
As a well gushes its water, so she pours out her evil. Violence and destruction resound in her; sickness and wounds are ever before Me.
They have
healed also the
hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace.
They dress the wound of My people with very little care, saying, ‘Peace, peace,’ when there is no peace at all.
For they have
healed the
hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace.
They dress the wound of the daughter of My people with very little care, saying, ‘Peace, peace,’ when there is no peace at all.
Woe is me for my
hurt! my
wound is
grievous: but I said, Truly this is a grief, and I must bear it.
Woe to me because of my brokenness; my
wound is
grievous! But I said, “This is truly my sickness, and I must bear it.”
Therefore thou shalt say this word unto them; Let mine eyes run down with tears night and day, and let them not cease: for the virgin daughter of my people is broken with a great breach, with a very
grievous blow.
You are to speak this word to them: ‘My eyes overflow with tears; day and night they do not cease, for the virgin daughter of my people has been
shattered by a
crushing blow, a severely
grievous wound.
Why is my pain perpetual, and my
wound incurable, which refuseth to be
healed?
wilt thou be altogether unto me as a
liar, and as waters that fail?
Why is my pain unending, and my
wound incurable, refusing to be
healed? You have indeed become like a
mirage to me— water that is not there.
And I will make this city
desolate, and an
hissing; every one that passeth thereby shall be
astonished and hiss because of all the plagues thereof.
For thus saith the LORD, Thy
bruise is incurable, and thy
wound is
grievous.
For this is what the LORD says: “Your injury is incurable; your
wound is
grievous.
All thy lovers have forgotten thee; they seek thee not; for I have
wounded thee with the
wound of an enemy, with the
chastisement of a cruel one, for the multitude of thine iniquity; because thy sins were increased.
All your lovers have forgotten you; they no longer seek you, for I have struck you as an enemy would, with the discipline of someone cruel, because of your great iniquity and your numerous sins.
Why criest thou for thine
affliction? thy sorrow is incurable for the multitude of thine iniquity: because thy sins were increased, I have done these things unto thee.
Why do you cry out over your wound? Your pain has no cure! Because of your great iniquity and your numerous sins I have done these things to you.
For I will restore health unto thee, and I will
heal thee of thy
wounds, saith the LORD; because they called thee an Outcast, saying, This is
Zion, whom no man seeketh after.
But I will restore your health and
heal your
wounds, declares the LORD, because they call you an outcast,
Zion, for whom no one cares.”
For though ye had
smitten the whole army of the Chaldeans that fight against you, and there remained but
wounded men among them, yet should they rise up every man in his tent, and burn this city with fire.
Indeed, if you were to strike down the entire army of the Chaldeans that is fighting against you, and only wounded men remained in their tents, they would still get up and burn this city down.”
Also
Edom shall be a
desolation: every one that goeth by it shall be
astonished, and shall hiss at all the plagues thereof.
Because of the wrath of the LORD it shall not be inhabited, but it shall be wholly
desolate: every one that goeth by Babylon shall be
astonished, and hiss at all her plagues.
Because of the wrath of the LORD, she will not be inhabited; she will become completely
desolate. All who pass through Babylon will be
horrified and will hiss at all her
wounds.
Wherefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will do judgment upon her
graven images: and through all her land the
wounded shall
groan.
“Therefore, behold, the days are coming,” declares the LORD, “when I will
punish her idols, and throughout her land the
wounded will
groan.
They say to their mothers, Where is corn and wine? when they
swooned as the
wounded in the streets of the city, when their soul was poured out into their mothers’
bosom.
They cry out to their mothers: “Where is the grain and wine?” as they
faint like the
wounded in the streets of the city, as their lives
fade away in the arms of their mothers.
What thing shall I take to witness for thee? what thing shall I
liken to thee, O daughter of Jerusalem? what shall I equal to thee, that I may comfort thee, O virgin daughter of
Zion? for thy breach is great like the sea: who can
heal thee?
What can I say for you? To what can I compare you, O Daughter of Jerusalem? To what can I
liken you, that I may
console you, O Virgin Daughter of
Zion? For your
wound is as deep as the sea. Who can ever
heal you?
Thus saith the Lord GOD to Tyrus; Shall not the isles
shake at the sound of thy fall, when the
wounded cry, when the slaughter is made in the midst of thee?
This is what the Lord GOD says to Tyre: ‘Will not the coastlands
quake at the sound of your
downfall, when the
wounded groan at the slaughter in your midst?
Wilt thou yet say before him that slayeth thee, I am God? but thou shalt be a man, and no God, in the hand of him that slayeth thee.
Will you still say, ‘I am a god,’ in the presence of those who
slay you? You will be only a man, not a god, in the hands of those who
wound you.
For I will send into her
pestilence, and blood into her street; and the
wounded shall be judged in the midst of her by the sword upon her on every side; and they shall know that I am the LORD.
I will send a plague against her and shed blood in her streets; the slain will fall within her, while the sword is against her on every side. Then they will know that I am the LORD.
And I will
strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon, and put my sword in his hand: but I will break Pharaoh’s arms, and he shall
groan before him with the groanings of a deadly
wounded man.
I will
strengthen the arms of Babylon’s king and place My sword in his hand, but I will break the arms of Pharaoh, who will
groan before him like a
mortally wounded man.
Then was the king exceeding
glad for him, and commanded that they should take Daniel up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den, and no manner of
hurt was found upon him, because he believed in his God.
The king was overjoyed and gave orders to lift Daniel out of the den, and when Daniel was lifted out of the den, no
wounds whatsoever were found on him, because he had trusted in his God.
When Ephraim saw his sickness, and Judah saw his
wound, then went Ephraim to the Assyrian, and sent to king Jareb: yet could he not
heal you, nor cure you of your
wound.
When Ephraim saw his sickness and Judah his
wound, then Ephraim turned to Assyria and sent to the great king. But he cannot cure you or
heal your
wound.
Come, and let us return unto the LORD: for he hath
torn, and he will
heal us; he hath
smitten, and he will bind us up.
Come, let us return to the LORD. For He has
torn us to pieces, but He will
heal us; He has
wounded us, but He will bind up our
wounds.
Neither shall one thrust another; they shall walk every one in his path: and when they fall upon the sword, they shall not be wounded.
They do not
jostle one another; each proceeds in his path. They
burst through the defenses, never breaking ranks.
All the men of thy
confederacy have brought thee even to the border: the men that were at peace with thee have
deceived thee, and prevailed against thee; they that eat thy bread have laid a
wound under thee: there is none understanding in him.
All the men allied with you will drive you to the border; the men at peace with you will
deceive and overpower you. Those who eat your bread will set a
trap for you without your awareness of it.
For her wound is incurable; for it is come unto Judah; he is come unto the gate of my people, even to Jerusalem.
For her wound is incurable; it has reached even Judah; it has approached the gate of my people, as far as Jerusalem itself.
There is no
healing of thy
bruise; thy
wound is
grievous: all that hear the
bruit of thee shall
clap the hands over thee: for upon whom hath not thy wickedness passed continually?
There is no
healing for your injury; your
wound is severe. All who hear the news of you
applaud your
downfall, for who has not experienced your constant cruelty?
Thou wentest forth for the salvation of thy people, even for salvation with thine
anointed; thou
woundedst the head out of the house of the wicked, by discovering the foundation unto the neck.
Selah.
You went forth for the salvation of Your people, to save Your
anointed. You
crushed the head of the house of the wicked and
stripped him from head to
toe.
Selah And one shall say unto him, What are these wounds in thine hands? Then he shall answer, Those with which I was wounded in the house of my friends.
If someone asks him, ‘What are these wounds on your chest?’ he will answer, ‘These are the wounds I received in the house of my friends.’
And again he sent unto them another servant; and at him they cast stones, and
wounded him in the head, and sent him away
shamefully handled.
Then he sent them another servant, and they struck him over the head and treated him
shamefully.
And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to
Jericho, and fell among
thieves, which
stripped him of his
raiment, and
wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead.
Jesus took up this question and said, “A man was going down from Jerusalem to
Jericho when he fell into the hands of robbers. They
stripped him, beat him, and went away, leaving him half dead.
And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.
He went to him and
bandaged his
wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him.
And again he sent a third: and they wounded him also, and cast him out.
Then he sent a third, but they wounded him and threw him out.
Then took they the body of Jesus, and
wound it in linen clothes with the spices, as the manner of the Jews is to
bury.
So they took the body of Jesus and
wrapped it in linen cloths with the spices, according to the Jewish burial custom.
And the young men arose, wound him up, and carried him out, and buried him.
Then the young men
stepped forward,
wrapped up his body, and carried him out and buried him.
And he took them the same hour of the night, and washed their stripes; and was
baptized, he and all his,
straightway.
At that hour of the night, the
jailer took them and washed their
wounds. And without delay, he and all his household were
baptized.
And the man in whom the evil spirit was
leaped on them, and overcame them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and
wounded.
Then the man with the evil spirit
jumped on them and overpowered them all. The attack was so violent that they ran out of the house naked and
wounded.
But when ye sin so against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, ye sin against Christ.
By
sinning against your brothers in this way and
wounding their weak conscience, you sin against Christ.
And I saw one of his heads as it were
wounded to death; and his deadly
wound was
healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.
One of the heads of the beast appeared to be
mortally wounded. But the
mortal wound was
healed, and the whole world
marveled and followed the beast.
And he exerciseth all the power of the first beast before him, and causeth the earth and them which dwell therein to worship the first beast, whose deadly
wound was
healed.
And this beast exercised all the authority of the first beast and caused the earth and those who dwell in it to worship the first beast, whose
mortal wound had been
healed.
And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.
Because of the signs it was given to perform on behalf of the first beast, it
deceived those who dwell on the earth, telling them to make an image to the beast that had been
wounded by the sword and yet had lived.
Thou shalt be
weakened as a poor woman with stripes, and as one
chastised with
wounds, so that the mighty and lovers shall not be able to receive thee.
And make my speech and
deceit to be their
wound and
stripe, who have purposed cruel things against thy covenant, and thy
hallowed house, and against the top of
Sion, and against the house of the possession of thy children.
The sons of the damsels have pierced them through, and wounded them as fugatives’ children: they perished by the battle of the Lord.
All iniquity is as a two edged sword, the
wounds whereof cannot be
healed.
If thou hast opened thy mouth against thy friend, fear not; for there may be a
reconciliation: except for
upbraiding, or pride, or disclosing of secrets, or a
treacherous wound: for for these things every friend will depart.
A wicked woman abateth the courage, maketh an heavy countenance and a wounded heart: a woman that will not comfort her husband in distress maketh weak hands and feeble knees.
As for a
wound, it may be bound up; and after
reviling there may be
reconcilement: but he that betrayeth secrets is without hope.
