rebel, you will
tear his
yoke from your neck.”
Wherefore say unto the children of Israel, I am the LORD, and I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will rid you out of their
bondage, and I will
redeem you with a stretched out arm, and with great judgments:
Therefore tell the Israelites: ‘I am the LORD, and I will bring you out from under the
yoke of the Egyptians and deliver you from their
bondage. I will
redeem you with an outstretched arm and with mighty acts of judgment.
And I will take you to me for a people, and I will be to you a God: and ye shall know that I am the LORD your God, which bringeth you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians.
I will take you as My own people, and I will be your God. Then you will know that I am the LORD your God, who brought you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians.
I am the LORD your God, which brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, that ye should not be their
bondmen; and I have broken the bands of your
yoke, and made you go upright.

This is the
ordinance of the law which the LORD hath commanded, saying, Speak unto the children of Israel, that they bring thee a red
heifer without spot, wherein is no
blemish, and upon which never came
yoke:
“This is the statute of the law that the LORD has commanded:
Instruct the Israelites to bring you an
unblemished red
heifer that has no defect and has never been placed under a
yoke.
And it shall be, that the city which is next unto the slain man, even the elders of that city shall take an
heifer, which hath not been wrought with, and which hath not drawn in the
yoke;
Then the elders of the city nearest the
victim shall take a
heifer that has never been
yoked or used for work,

destitution. He will place an iron
yoke on your neck until He has destroyed you.
Now therefore make a new
cart, and take two
milch kine, on which there hath come no
yoke, and
tie the
kine to the
cart, and bring their
calves home from them:
Now, therefore, prepare one new
cart with two milk cows that have never been
yoked.
Hitch the cows to the
cart, but take their
calves away and pen them up.
And he took a
yoke of oxen, and
hewed them in pieces, and sent them throughout all the coasts of Israel by the hands of messengers, saying,
Whosoever cometh not forth after Saul and after Samuel, so shall it be done unto his oxen. And the fear of the LORD fell on the people, and they came out with one consent.
He took a pair of oxen, cut them into pieces, and sent them by messengers throughout the land of Israel,
proclaiming, “This is what will be done to the oxen of
anyone who does not march behind Saul and Samuel.” Then the terror of the LORD fell upon the people, and they turned out as one man.

threshing instruments and other instruments of the oxen for wood.
Araunah said to David, “My lord the king may take whatever seems good and offer it up. Here are the oxen for a burnt offering and the
threshing sledges and ox
yokes for the wood.
Thy father made our
yoke grievous: now therefore make thou the
grievous service of thy father, and his heavy
yoke which he put upon us, lighter, and we will serve thee.
“Your father put a heavy
yoke on us. But now you should
lighten the burden of your father’s service and the heavy
yoke he put on us, and we will serve you.”
And he said unto them, What counsel give ye that we may answer this people, who have spoken to me, saying, Make the yoke which thy father did put upon us lighter?
He asked them, “What message do you
advise that we send back to these people who have spoken to me, saying, ‘
Lighten the
yoke your father put on us’?”
And the young men that were grown up with him spake unto him, saying, Thus shalt thou speak unto this people that spake unto thee, saying, Thy father made our yoke heavy, but make thou it lighter unto us; thus shalt thou say unto them, My little finger shall be thicker than my father’s loins.
The young men who had grown up with him replied, “This is how you should answer these people who said to you, ‘Your father made our
yoke heavy, but you should make it lighter.’ This is what you should tell them: ‘My little finger is thicker than my father’s
waist!
And now whereas my father did
lade you with a heavy
yoke, I will add to your
yoke: my father hath
chastised you with whips, but I will
chastise you with scorpions.
Whereas my father burdened you with a heavy
yoke, I will add to your
yoke. Whereas my father
scourged you with whips, I will
scourge you with scorpions.’”
And spake to them after the counsel of the young men, saying, My father made your
yoke heavy, and I will add to your
yoke: my father also
chastised you with whips, but I will
chastise you with scorpions.
and spoke to them as the young men had
advised, saying, “Whereas my father made your
yoke heavy, I will add to your
yoke. Whereas my father
scourged you with whips, I will
scourge you with scorpions.”

Elisha the son of Shaphat, who was
plowing with twelve
yoke of oxen before him, and he with the
twelfth: and
Elijah passed by him, and cast his
mantle upon him.
And he returned back from him, and took a
yoke of oxen, and
slew them, and boiled their flesh with the instruments of the oxen, and gave unto the people, and they did eat. Then he arose, and went after
Elijah, and ministered unto him.
So
Elisha turned back from him, took his pair of oxen, and slaughtered them. With the oxen’s
equipment, he
cooked the meat and gave it to the people, and they
ate. Then he set out to follow and serve
Elijah.
Thy father made our
yoke grievous: now therefore ease thou somewhat the
grievous servitude of thy father, and his heavy
yoke that he put upon us, and we will serve thee.
“Your father put a heavy
yoke on us. But now you should
lighten the burden of your father’s service and the heavy
yoke he put on us, and we will serve you.”
And he said unto them, What advice give ye that we may return answer to this people, which have spoken to me, saying, Ease somewhat the yoke that thy father did put upon us?
He asked them, “What message do you
advise that we send back to these people who have spoken to me, saying, ‘
Lighten the
yoke your father put on us’?”
And the young men that were brought up with him spake unto him, saying, Thus shalt thou answer the people that spake unto thee, saying, Thy father made our yoke heavy, but make thou it somewhat lighter for us; thus shalt thou say unto them, My little finger shall be thicker than my father’s loins.
The young men who had grown up with him replied, “This is how you should answer these people who said to you, ‘Your father made our
yoke heavy, but you should make it lighter.’ This is what you should tell them: ‘My little finger is thicker than my father’s
waist!
For whereas my father put a heavy
yoke upon you, I will put more to your
yoke: my father
chastised you with whips, but I will
chastise you with scorpions.
Whereas my father burdened you with a heavy
yoke, I will add to your
yoke. Whereas my father
scourged you with whips, I will
scourge you with scorpions.’”
And answered them after the advice of the young men, saying, My father made your
yoke heavy, but I will add
thereto: my father
chastised you with whips, but I will
chastise you with scorpions.
and spoke to them as the young men had
advised, saying, “Whereas my father made your
yoke heavy, I will add to your
yoke. Whereas my father
scourged you with whips, I will
scourge you with scorpions.”
His substance also was seven thousand sheep, and three thousand camels, and five hundred
yoke of oxen, and five hundred she
asses, and a very great household; so that this man was the greatest of all the men of the east.
and he owned 7,000 sheep, 3,000 camels, 500
yoke of oxen, 500 female
donkeys, and a very large number of servants. Job was the greatest man of all the people of the East.
So the LORD blessed the latter end of Job more than his beginning: for he had fourteen thousand sheep, and six thousand camels, and a thousand
yoke of oxen, and a thousand she
asses.
So the LORD blessed Job’s latter days more than his first. He owned 14,000 sheep, 6,000 camels, 1,000
yoke of oxen, and 1,000 female
donkeys.
They joined themselves also unto
Baal-peor, and
ate the sacrifices of the dead.
They
yoked themselves to
Baal of Peor and
ate sacrifices offered to lifeless gods.
For thou hast broken the
yoke of his burden, and the staff of his shoulder, the rod of his
oppressor, as in the day of
Midian.
For as in the day of
Midian You have
shattered the
yoke of their burden, the bar across their shoulders, and the rod of their
oppressor.
And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his
yoke from off thy neck, and the
yoke shall be destroyed because of the
anointing.
On that day the burden will be lifted from your shoulders, and the yoke from your neck. The yoke will be broken because your neck will be too large.
That I will break the Assyrian in my land, and upon my mountains
tread him under foot: then shall his
yoke depart from off them, and his burden depart from off their shoulders.
I will break Assyria in My land; I will
trample him on My mountain. His
yoke will be taken off My people, and his burden removed from their shoulders.”
I was
wroth with my people, I have
polluted mine inheritance, and given them into thine hand: thou
didst shew them no mercy; upon the ancient hast thou very
heavily laid thy
yoke.
I was
angry with My people; I
profaned My
heritage, and I placed them under your control. You showed them no mercy; even on the elderly you laid a most heavy
yoke.
Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to
undo the heavy burdens, and to let the
oppressed go free, and that ye break every
yoke?
Isn’t this the fast that I have chosen: to break the chains of wickedness, to
untie the cords of the
yoke, to set the
oppressed free and
tear off every
yoke?
Then shalt thou call, and the LORD shall answer; thou shalt cry, and he shall say, Here I am. If thou take away from the midst of thee the yoke, the putting forth of the finger, and speaking vanity;
Then you will call, and the LORD will answer; you will cry out, and He will say, ‘Here I am.’ If you remove the
yoke from your midst, the pointing of the finger and
malicious talk,
For of old time I have broken thy
yoke, and
burst thy bands; and thou saidst, I will not
transgress; when upon every high hill and under every green tree thou wanderest, playing the
harlot.
“For long ago you broke your
yoke and
tore off your chains, saying, ‘I will not serve!’ Indeed, on every high hill and under every green tree you lay down as a
prostitute.
I will get me unto the great men, and will speak unto them; for they have known the way of the LORD, and the judgment of their God: but these have altogether broken the
yoke, and
burst the bonds.
I will go to the powerful and speak to them. Surely they know the way of the LORD, the justice of their God.” But they too, with one
accord, had broken the
yoke and
torn off the chains.
Thus saith the LORD to me; Make thee bonds and yokes, and put them upon thy neck,
This is what the LORD said to me: “Make for
yourself a
yoke out of leather straps and put it on your neck.
And it shall come to pass, that the nation and kingdom which will not serve the same
Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, and that will not put their neck under the
yoke of the king of Babylon, that nation will I
punish, saith the LORD, with the sword, and with the famine, and with the
pestilence, until I have consumed them by his hand.
As for the nation or kingdom that does not serve
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and does not place its neck under his
yoke, I will
punish that nation by sword and famine and plague, declares the LORD, until I have destroyed it by his hand.
But the nations that bring their neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon, and serve him, those will I let remain still in their own land, saith the LORD; and they shall till it, and dwell therein.
But the nation that will put its neck under the
yoke of the king of Babylon and serve him, I will leave in its own land, to
cultivate it and reside in it, declares the LORD.”
I spake also to
Zedekiah king of Judah according to all these words, saying, Bring your necks under the
yoke of the king of Babylon, and serve him and his people, and live.
And to
Zedekiah king of Judah I spoke the same message: “Put your necks under the
yoke of the king of Babylon; serve him and his people, and live!
Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, saying, I have broken the yoke of the king of Babylon.
“This is what the LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, says: ‘I have broken the yoke of the king of Babylon.
And I will bring again to this place Jeconiah the son of
Jehoiakim king of Judah, with all the
captives of Judah, that went into Babylon, saith the LORD: for I will break the
yoke of the king of Babylon.
And I will restore to this place Jeconiah son of
Jehoiakim king of Judah, along with all the exiles from Judah who went to Babylon,’ declares the LORD, ‘for I will break the
yoke of the king of Babylon.’”
Then Hananiah the prophet took the
yoke from off the prophet Jeremiah’s neck, and
brake it.
Then the prophet Hananiah took the yoke off the neck of Jeremiah the prophet and broke it.
And Hananiah spake in the presence of all the people, saying, Thus saith the LORD; Even so will I break the
yoke of
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon from the neck of all nations within the space of two full years. And the prophet Jeremiah went his way.
And in the presence of all the people Hananiah proclaimed, “This is what the LORD says: ‘In this way, within two years I will break the
yoke of
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon off the neck of all the nations.’” At this, Jeremiah the prophet went on his way.
Then the word of the LORD came unto Jeremiah the prophet, after that Hananiah the prophet had broken the yoke from off the neck of the prophet Jeremiah, saying,
But shortly after Hananiah the prophet had broken the yoke off his neck, the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah:
Go and tell Hananiah, saying, Thus saith the LORD; Thou hast broken the yokes of wood; but thou shalt make for them yokes of iron.
“Go and tell Hananiah that this is what the LORD says: ‘You have broken a yoke of wood, but in its place you have fashioned a yoke of iron.’
For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; I have put a
yoke of iron upon the neck of all these nations, that they may serve
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon; and they shall serve him: and I have given him the beasts of the field also.
For this is what the LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, says: ‘I have put a
yoke of iron on the neck of all these nations to make them serve
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and they will serve him. I have even given him control of the beasts of the field.’”
For it shall come to pass in that day, saith the LORD of hosts, that I will break his
yoke from off thy neck, and will
burst thy bonds, and strangers shall no more serve themselves of him:
On that day, declares the LORD of Hosts, I will break the
yoke off their necks and
tear off their bonds, and no longer will strangers
enslave them.
I have surely heard Ephraim
bemoaning himself thus; Thou hast
chastised me, and I was
chastised, as a
bullock unaccustomed to the
yoke: turn thou me, and I shall be turned; for thou art the LORD my God.
I have surely heard Ephraim’s
moaning: ‘You disciplined me severely, like an untrained
calf. Restore me, that I may return, for You are the LORD my God.
I will also break in pieces with thee the
shepherd and his flock; and with thee will I break in pieces the
husbandman and his
yoke of oxen; and with thee will I break in pieces captains and rulers.
The
yoke of my transgressions is bound by his hand: they are
wreathed, and come up upon my neck: he hath made my strength to fall, the Lord hath delivered me into their hands, from whom I am not able to rise up.
My transgressions are bound into a
yoke,
knit together by His hand; they are
draped over my neck, and the Lord has broken my strength. He has delivered me into the hands of those I cannot
withstand.
It is good for a man that he bear the yoke in his youth.
It is good for a man to bear the yoke while he is still young.
At Tehaphnehes also the day shall be
darkened, when I shall break there the
yokes of Egypt: and the
pomp of her strength shall cease in her: as for her, a cloud shall cover her, and her daughters shall go into captivity.
The day will be
darkened in Tahpanhes when I break the
yoke of Egypt and her proud strength comes to an end. A cloud will cover her, and her daughters will go into captivity.
And the tree of the field shall yield her fruit, and the earth shall yield her increase, and they shall be safe in their land, and shall know that I am the LORD, when I have broken the bands of their yoke, and delivered them out of the hand of those that served themselves of them.
The trees of the field will give their fruit, and the land will yield its produce; My flock will be secure in their land. Then they will know that I am the LORD, when I have broken the bars of their
yoke and delivered them from the hands that
enslaved them.
And Ephraim is as an
heifer that is taught, and loveth to
tread out the corn; but I passed over upon her fair neck: I will make Ephraim to
ride; Judah shall
plow, and Jacob shall break his clods.
Ephraim is a well-trained
heifer that loves to
thresh; but I will place a
yoke on her fair neck. I will
harness Ephraim, Judah will
plow, and Jacob will break the hard ground.
I drew them with cords of a man, with bands of love: and I was to them as they that take off the yoke on their jaws, and I laid meat unto them.
I led them with cords of kindness, with ropes of love; I lifted the yoke from their necks and bent down to feed them.
For now will I break his
yoke from off thee, and will
burst thy bonds in
sunder.
For I will now break their
yoke from your neck and
tear away your
shackles.”
Take my
yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am
meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
And another said, I have bought five
yoke of oxen, and I go to prove them: I pray thee have me
excused.
Another said, ‘I have bought five
yoke of oxen, and I am going to try them out. Please
excuse me.’
Now therefore why
tempt ye God, to put a
yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?
Now then, why do you test God by placing on the necks of the disciples a yoke that neither we nor our fathers have been able to bear?
Be ye not unequally
yoked together with unbelievers: for what
fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?
Do not be unequally
yoked with unbelievers. For what
partnership can righteousness have with wickedness? Or what
fellowship does light have with darkness?
It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not be
encumbered once more by a
yoke of slavery.
And I intreat thee also, true
yokefellow, help those women which laboured with me in the gospel, with Clement also, and with other my fellowlabourers, whose names are in the book of life.
Yes, and I ask you, my true
yokefellow, to help these women who have labored with me for the gospel, along with Clement and the rest of my fellow workers, whose names are in the Book of Life.
Let as many servants as are under the
yoke count their own masters worthy of all honour, that the name of God and his doctrine be not
blasphemed.
All who are under the yoke of slavery should regard their masters as fully worthy of honor, so that God’s name and our teaching will not be discredited.
Four hundred thirty and five camels, seven thousand thirty and six horses, two hundred forty and five mules, five thousand five hundred twenty and five beasts used to the yoke.
An evil wife is a
yoke shaken to and
fro: he that hath hold of her is as though he held a
scorpion.
Well is he that is defended through the
venom thereof; who hath not drawn the
yoke thereof, nor hath been bound in her bands.
For the yoke thereof is a yoke of iron, and the bands thereof are bands of brass.
A
yoke and a
collar do bow the neck: so are tortures and torments for an evil servant.
Great
travail is created for every man, and an heavy
yoke is upon the sons of Adam, from the day that they go out of their mother’s
womb, till the day that they return to the mother of all things.
Put your neck under the yoke, and let your soul receive instruction: she is hard at hand to find.
And to intreat them that they would take the
yoke from them; for they saw that the kingdom of the Grecians did
oppress Israel with
servitude.
And as touching the evils that
Demetrius doeth to the Jews, we have written unto him, saying, Wherefore thou made thy
yoke heavy upon our friends and confederates the Jews?
Thus the
yoke of the heathen was taken away from Israel in the hundred and
seventieth year.
