Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or
praiseworthy—think on these things.
Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.
Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me, put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.
I know both how to be
abased,
and I know how to abound: every where
and in all things I am
instructed both to be full
and to be
hungry, both to abound
and to suffer need.
I know how to live
humbly,
and I know how to abound. I am accustomed to any
and every situation—to being filled
and being
hungry, to having
plenty and having need.
Now ye
Philippians know also, that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from
Macedonia, no church communicated with me as concerning giving
and receiving, but ye only.
And as you
Philippians know, in the early days of the gospel, when I left
Macedonia, no church but you partnered with me in the matter of giving
and receiving.
For even in
Thessalonica ye sent once
and again unto my necessity.
For even while I was in
Thessalonica, you provided for my needs again
and again.
But I have all, and abound: I am full, having received of Epaphroditus the things which were sent from you, an odour of a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable, wellpleasing to God.
I have all I need
and more, now that I have received your gifts from Epaphroditus. They are a
fragrant offering, an acceptable sacrifice, well-pleasing to God.
But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
And my God will supply all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus.
Now unto God
and our Father be glory for ever
and ever.
Amen.
Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God,
and Timotheus our brother,
Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God,
and Timothy our brother,
To the saints
and faithful brethren in Christ which are at
Colosse: Grace be unto you,
and peace, from God our Father
and the Lord Jesus Christ.
To the saints and faithful brothers in Christ at Colossae: Grace and peace to you from God our Father.
We give
thanks to God
and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you,
We always
thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you,
Since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus, and of the love which ye have to all the saints,
because we have heard about your faith in Christ Jesus and your love for all the saints—
For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven,
whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel;
the faith and love proceeding from the hope stored up for you in heaven, of which you have already heard in the word of truth, the gospel
Which is come unto you, as it is in all the world;
and bringeth forth fruit, as it
doth also in you, since the day ye heard of it,
and knew the grace of God in truth:
that has come to you. All over the world this gospel is bearing fruit and growing, just as it has been doing among you since the day you heard it and truly understood the grace of God.
Who also declared unto us your love in the Spirit.
and who also informed us of your love in the Spirit.
For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;
For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of His will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding,
That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;
so that you may walk in a manner worthy of the Lord and may please Him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God,
being strengthened with all power according to His glorious might so that you may have full
endurance and patience,
and joyfully Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness,
and hath translated us into the kingdom of his
dear Son:
He has
rescued us from the dominion of darkness
and brought us into the kingdom of His beloved Son,
For by him were all things created, that are in heaven,
and that are in earth, visible
and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or
principalities, or powers: all things were created by him,
and for him:
For in Him all things were created, things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities. All things were created through Him and for Him.
And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.
He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.
And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the
firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.
And He is the head of the body, the church; He is the beginning
and firstborn from among the dead, so that in all things He may have preeminence.
And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to
reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.
and through Him to
reconcile to Himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through the blood of His cross.
Once you were
alienated from God
and were hostile in your minds,
engaging in evil deeds.
In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:
If ye continue in the faith grounded
and settled,
and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard,
and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven;
whereof I Paul am made a minister;
if indeed you continue in your faith, established and firm, not moved from the hope of the gospel you heard, which has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven, and of which I, Paul, have become a servant.
Who now
rejoice in my sufferings for you,
and fill up that which is behind of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body’s sake, which is the church:
Now I
rejoice in my sufferings for you,
and I fill up in my flesh what is lacking in regard to Christ’s afflictions for the sake of His body, which is the church.
Even the
mystery which hath been
hid from ages
and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints:
the
mystery that was hidden for ages
and generations but is now revealed to His saints.
Whom we
preach,
warning every man,
and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:
For I would that ye knew what great conflict I have for you,
and for them at
Laodicea,
and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh;
For I want you to know how much I am struggling for you
and for those at
Laodicea,
and for all who have not met me face to face,
That their hearts might be comforted, being
knit together in love,
and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the
mystery of God,
and of the Father,
and of Christ;
that they may be encouraged in heart,
knit together in love,
and filled with the full riches of complete understanding, so that they may know the
mystery of God, namely Christ,
In whom are
hid all the treasures of wisdom
and knowledge.
in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
I say this so that no one will
deceive you by smooth rhetoric.
For though I be absent in the flesh, yet am I with you in the spirit, joying
and beholding your order,
and the
stedfastness of your faith in Christ.
For although I am absent from you in body, I am present with you in spirit, and I delight to see your orderly condition and firm faith in Christ.
Rooted
and built up in him,
and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with
thanksgiving.
rooted
and built up in Him, established in the faith as you were taught,
and overflowing with
thankfulness.
Beware lest any man
spoil you through philosophy
and vain
deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world,
and not after Christ.
See to it that no one takes you
captive through philosophy
and empty
deception, which are based on human tradition
and the spiritual forces of the world rather than on Christ.
And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:
And you have been made complete in Christ, who is the head over every ruler and authority.
In Him you were also
circumcised, in the putting off of your sinful nature, with the
circumcision performed by Christ
and not by human hands.
Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.
And having been buried with Him in baptism, you were raised with Him through your faith in the power of God, who raised Him from the dead.
When you were dead in your trespasses
and in the
uncircumcision of your sinful nature, God made you alive with Christ. He
forgave us all our trespasses,
Blotting out the
handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us,
and took it out of the way,
nailing it to his cross;
having
canceled the debt ascribed to us in the decrees that stood against us. He took it away,
nailing it to the cross!
And having disarmed the powers
and authorities, He made a public
spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.
Do not let
anyone who delights in false
humility and the worship of angels
disqualify you with speculation about what he has seen. Such a person is
puffed up without basis by his unspiritual mind.
And not holding the Head, from which all the body by joints
and bands having
nourishment ministered,
and knit together, increaseth with the increase of God.
He has lost connection to the head, from whom the whole body, supported
and knit together by its joints
and ligaments, grows as God causes it to grow.
Which all are to perish with the using;) after the commandments and doctrines of men?
These will all perish with use, because they are based on human commands and teachings.
Which things have indeed a
shew of wisdom in will worship,
and humility,
and neglecting of the body; not in any honour to the satisfying of the flesh.
Such restrictions indeed have an appearance of wisdom, with their self-prescribed worship, their false
humility,
and their harsh treatment of the body; but they are of no value against the
indulgence of the flesh.
For ye are dead,
and your life is
hid with Christ in God.
For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God.
Put to death, therefore, the components of your earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity,
lust, evil desires,
and greed, which is
idolatry.
But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath,
malice,
blasphemy,
filthy communication out of your mouth.
But now you must put aside all such things as these: anger,
rage,
malice,
slander,
and filthy language from your lips.
And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:
and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its
Creator.
Forbearing one another,
and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ
forgave you, so also do ye.
And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.
And over all these virtues put on love, which is the bond of perfect unity.
And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body;
and be ye
thankful.
Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, for to this you were called as members of one body.
And be
thankful.
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching
and admonishing one another in psalms
and hymns
and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
Let the word of Christ richly dwell within you as you teach
and admonish one another with all wisdom,
and as you sing psalms, hymns,
and spiritual songs with
gratitude in your hearts to God.
And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving
thanks to God
and the Father by him.
And whatever you do, in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving
thanks to God the Father through Him.
Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them.
Husbands, love your wives and do not be harsh with them.
Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with
eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God:
Slaves, obey your earthly masters in everything, not only to please them while they are watching, but with
sincerity of heart
and fear of the Lord.
Whatever you do, work at it with your whole being, for the Lord and not for men,
But he that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect of persons.
Masters, give unto your servants that which is just and equal; knowing that ye also have a Master in heaven.
Masters, supply your slaves with what is right and fair, since you know that you also have a Master in heaven.
Continue in prayer,
and watch in the same with
thanksgiving;
All my state shall
Tychicus declare unto you, who is a beloved brother,
and a faithful minister
and fellowservant in the Lord:
Tychicus will tell you all the news about me. He is a beloved brother, a faithful minister,
and a fellow servant in the Lord.
Whom I have sent unto you for the same purpose, that he might know your estate, and comfort your hearts;
I have sent him to you for this very purpose, that you may know about us,
and that he may
encourage your hearts.
With
Onesimus, a faithful
and beloved brother, who is one of you. They shall make known unto you all things which are done here.
With him I am sending
Onesimus, our faithful
and beloved brother, who is one of you. They will tell you about everything here.
Aristarchus my fellowprisoner saluteth you,
and Marcus, sister’s son to
Barnabas, (touching whom ye received commandments: if he come unto you, receive him;)
My fellow prisoner
Aristarchus sends you greetings, as does Mark the cousin of
Barnabas. You have already received instructions about him: If he comes to you,
welcome him.
And Jesus, which is called Justus, who are of the
circumcision. These only are my fellow workers unto the kingdom of God, which have been a comfort unto me.
Jesus, who is called Justus, also sends greetings. These are the only Jews among my fellow workers for the kingdom of God, and they have been a comfort to me.
Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ, saluteth you, always labouring
fervently for you in prayers, that ye may stand perfect
and complete in all the will of God.
Epaphras, who is one of you
and a servant of Christ Jesus, sends you greetings. He is always
wrestling in prayer for you, so that you may stand
mature and fully
assured in the full will of God.
For I bear him record, that he hath a great zeal for you,
and them that are in
Laodicea,
and them in
Hierapolis.
Luke, the beloved physician,
and Demas,
greet you.
Luke, the beloved physician, and Demas send you greetings.
Salute the brethren which are in
Laodicea,
and Nymphas,
and the church which is in his house.
And when this epistle is read among you, cause that it be read also in the church of the Laodiceans;
and that ye likewise read the epistle from
Laodicea.
After this letter has been read among you, make sure that it is also read in the church of the Laodiceans,
and that you in turn read the letter from
Laodicea.
And say to Archippus, Take
heed to the ministry which thou hast received in the Lord, that thou fulfil it.
Tell Archippus: “See to it that you complete the ministry you have received in the Lord.”
Paul,
and Silvanus,
and Timotheus, unto the church of the
Thessalonians which is in God the Father
and in the Lord Jesus Christ: Grace be unto you,
and peace, from God our Father,
and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Remembering without ceasing your work of faith,
and labour of love,
and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God
and our Father;
and continually recalling before our God
and Father your work of faith, your labor of love,
and your
enduring hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.
For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance; as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake.
because our gospel came to you not only in word, but also in power, in the Holy Spirit, and with great conviction—just as you know we lived among you for your sake.
And ye became followers of us,
and of the Lord, having received the word in much
affliction, with joy of the Holy Ghost:
And you became imitators of us
and of the Lord when you
welcomed the message with the joy of the Holy Spirit, in spite of your great suffering.
As a result, you have become an example to all the believers in
Macedonia and Achaia.
For from you sounded out the word of the Lord not only in
Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place your faith to God-ward is spread abroad; so that we need not to speak any thing.
For not only did the message of the Lord ring out from you to
Macedonia and Achaia, but your faith in God has gone out to every place, so that we have no need to say anything more.
For they themselves
shew of us what manner of entering in we had unto you,
and how ye turned to God from idols to serve the living
and true God;
For they themselves report what kind of
welcome you gave us,
and how you turned to God from idols to serve the living
and true God
And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come.
and to
await His Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead—Jesus our deliverer from the coming wrath.
As you are aware, we had already
endured suffering
and shameful treatment in
Philippi. But in the face of strong opposition, we were bold in our God to speak to you the gospel of God.
For ye remember, brethren, our labour
and travail: for labouring night
and day, because we would not be chargeable unto any of you, we preached unto you the gospel of God.
Surely you recall, brothers, our labor
and toil. We worked night
and day so that we would not be a burden to
anyone while we proclaimed to you the gospel of God.
Ye are witnesses,
and God also, how
holily and justly
and unblameably we
behaved ourselves among you that believe:
You are witnesses,
and so is God, of how holy, righteous,
and blameless our conduct was among you who believed.
As ye know how we
exhorted and comforted
and charged every one of you, as a father
doth his children,
For you know that we treated each of you as a father treats his own children—
That ye would walk worthy of God, who hath called you unto his kingdom and glory.
encouraging you, comforting you,
and urging you to walk in a manner worthy of God, who calls you into His own kingdom
and glory.
For this cause also
thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which
effectually worketh also in you that believe.
And we continually
thank God because, when you received the word of God that you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men, but as the true word of God—the word which is now at work in you who believe.
Who both killed the Lord Jesus,
and their own prophets,
and have
persecuted us;
and they please not God,
and are contrary to all men:
who killed both the Lord Jesus and their own prophets, and drove us out as well. They are displeasing to God and hostile to all men,
Wherefore we would have come unto you, even I Paul, once
and again; but
Satan hindered us.
For we wanted to come to you—indeed I, Paul, tried again
and again—but
Satan obstructed us.
For ye are our glory and joy.
You are indeed our glory and our joy.
And sent
Timotheus, our brother,
and minister of God,
and our fellowlabourer in the gospel of Christ, to establish you,
and to comfort you concerning your faith:
For
verily, when we were with you, we told you before that we should suffer
tribulation; even as it came to pass,
and ye know.
Indeed, when we were with you, we kept
warning you that we would suffer persecution;
and as you know, it has come to pass.
For this cause, when I could no longer
forbear, I sent to know your faith, lest by some means the
tempter have
tempted you,
and our labour be in vain.
For this reason, when I could bear it no longer, I sent to find out about your faith, for fear that the
tempter had
somehow tempted you
and caused our labor to be in vain.
But now when
Timotheus came from you unto us,
and brought us good
tidings of your faith
and charity,
and that ye have good
remembrance of us always, desiring greatly to see us, as we also to see you:
But just now,
Timothy has returned from his visit with the good news about your faith, your love,
and the fond
memories you have preserved, longing to see us just as we long to see you.
Therefore, brethren, we were comforted over you in all our
affliction and distress by your faith:
For this reason, brothers, in all our distress
and persecution, we have been
reassured about you, because of your faith.
Night and day praying exceedingly that we might see your face, and might perfect that which is lacking in your faith?
Night and day we pray most earnestly that we may see you face to face and supply what is lacking from your faith.
Now God himself and our Father, and our Lord Jesus Christ, direct our way unto you.
Now may our God and Father Himself, and our Lord Jesus, direct our way to you.
And the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another, and toward all men, even as we do toward you:
And may the Lord cause you to increase
and overflow with love for one another
and for
everyone else, just as our love for you overflows,
To the end he may
stablish your hearts unblameable in
holiness before God, even our Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all his saints.
so that He may establish your hearts in
blamelessness and holiness before our God
and Father at the coming of our Lord Jesus with all His saints.
Amen.
