Of fowls after their kind, and of cattle after their kind, of every
creeping thing of the earth after his kind, two of every sort shall come unto thee, to keep them alive.
Two of every kind of bird and
animal and
crawling creature will come to you to be kept alive.
And take thou unto thee of all food that is eaten, and thou shalt gather it to thee; and it shall be for food for thee, and for them.
You are also to take for
yourself every kind of food that is eaten and gather it as food for
yourselves and for the
animals.”
Of every clean beast thou shalt take to thee by sevens, the male and his female: and of beasts that are not clean by two, the male and his female.
You are to take with you seven pairs of every kind of clean
animal, a male and its
mate; a pair of every kind of unclean
animal, a male and its
mate;
Of clean beasts, and of beasts that are not clean, and of fowls, and of every thing that creepeth upon the earth,
The clean and unclean animals, the birds, and everything that crawls along the ground
They, and every beast after his kind, and all the cattle after their kind, and every
creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind, and every fowl after his kind, every bird of every sort.
they and every kind of wild
animal,
livestock,
crawling creature, bird, and winged creature.
And all flesh died that moved upon the earth, both of fowl, and of cattle, and of beast, and of every
creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth, and every man:
And every living thing that moved upon the earth perished—birds,
livestock,
animals, every creature that swarms upon the earth, and all mankind.
And God remembered
Noah, and every living thing, and all the cattle that was with him in the ark: and God made a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters asswaged;
But God remembered
Noah and all the
animals and
livestock that were with him in the ark. And God sent a wind over the earth, and the waters began to
subside.
And
Noah builded an altar unto the LORD; and took of every clean beast, and of every clean fowl, and offered burnt offerings on the altar.
Then
Noah built an altar to the LORD. And taking from every kind of clean
animal and clean bird, he offered burnt offerings on the altar.
And Jacob did separate the lambs, and set the faces of the flocks toward the
ringstraked, and all the brown in the flock of
Laban; and he put his own flocks by themselves, and put them not unto
Laban’s cattle.
Jacob set apart the young, but made the rest face the
streaked dark-colored sheep in
Laban’s flocks. Then he set his own stock apart and did not put them with
Laban’s
animals.
And it came to pass,
whensoever the stronger cattle did conceive, that Jacob laid the rods before the eyes of the cattle in the gutters, that they might conceive among the rods.
Whenever the stronger females of the flock were in heat, Jacob would place the branches in the troughs, in full view of the animals, so that they would breed in front of the branches.
But when the cattle were feeble, he put them not in: so the feebler were
Laban’s, and the stronger Jacob’s.
But if the
animals were weak, he did not set out the branches. So the weaker
animals went to
Laban and the stronger ones to Jacob.
And he commanded the foremost, saying, When
Esau my brother meeteth thee, and asketh thee, saying, Whose art thou? and
whither goest thou? and whose are these before thee?
He
instructed the one in the lead, “When my brother
Esau meets you and asks, ‘To whom do you belong, where are you going, and whose
animals are these before you?’
And he said unto him, My lord knoweth that the children are tender, and the flocks and herds with young are with me: and if men should overdrive them one day, all the flock will die.
But Jacob replied, “My lord knows that the children are
frail, and I must care for sheep and cattle that are
nursing their young. If they are driven hard for even a day, all the
animals will die.
Shall not their cattle and their substance and every beast of theirs be ours? only let us consent unto them, and they will dwell with us.
Will not their
livestock, their possessions, and all their
animals become ours? Only let us consent to them, and they will dwell among us.”
And
Esau took his wives, and his sons, and his daughters, and all the persons of his house, and his cattle, and all his beasts, and all his substance, which he had got in the land of
Canaan; and went into the country from the face of his brother Jacob.
Later,
Esau took his wives and sons and daughters and all the people of his household, along with his
livestock, all his other
animals, and all the property he had acquired in
Canaan, and he moved to a land far away from his brother Jacob.
Come now therefore, and let us
slay him, and cast him into some pit, and we will say, Some evil beast hath
devoured him: and we shall see what will become of his dreams.
“Come now, let us kill him and throw him into one of the pits. We can say that a
vicious animal has
devoured him. Then we shall see what becomes of his dreams!”
And he knew it, and said, It is my son’s coat; an evil beast hath
devoured him; Joseph is without doubt rent in pieces.
His father recognized it and said, “It is my son’s
robe! A
vicious animal has
devoured him. Joseph has surely been
torn to pieces!”
And when Joseph saw Benjamin with them, he said to the ruler of his house, Bring these men home, and
slay, and make ready; for these men shall
dine with me at
noon.
When Joseph saw Benjamin with his brothers, he said to the
steward of his house, “Take these men to my house. Slaughter an
animal and prepare it, for they shall
dine with me at
noon.”
And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, Say unto thy brethren, This do ye;
lade your beasts, and go, get you unto the land of
Canaan;
Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Tell your brothers, ‘Do as follows: Load your
animals and return to the land of
Canaan.
And the LORD shall
sever between the cattle of Israel and the cattle of Egypt: and there shall nothing die of all that is the children’s of Israel.
But the LORD will make a distinction between the
livestock of Israel and the
livestock of Egypt, so that no
animal belonging to the Israelites will die.’”
And the LORD did that thing on the
morrow, and all the cattle of Egypt died: but of the cattle of the children of Israel died not one.
And the next day the LORD did just that. All the
livestock of the Egyptians died, but not one
animal belonging to the Israelites died.
And ye shall keep it up until the
fourteenth day of the same month: and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening.
You must keep it until the
fourteenth day of the month, when the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel will slaughter the
animals at
twilight.
The owner of the pit shall make it good, and give money unto the owner of them; and the dead beast shall be his.
the owner of the pit shall make
restitution; he must pay its owner, and the dead
animal will be his.
And if one man’s ox
hurt another’s, that he die; then they shall sell the live ox, and divide the money of it; and the dead ox also they shall divide.
If a man’s ox injures his
neighbor’s ox and it dies, they must sell the live one and divide the proceeds; they also must divide the dead
animal.
Or if it be known that the ox hath used to
push in time past, and his owner hath not kept him in; he shall surely pay ox for ox; and the dead shall be his own.
But if it was known that the ox had a habit of
goring, yet its owner failed to restrain it, he shall pay full compensation, ox for ox, and the dead
animal will be his.
If a man deliver unto his neighbour an
ass, or an ox, or a sheep, or any beast, to keep; and it die, or be
hurt, or driven away, no man seeing it:
If a man gives a
donkey, an ox, a sheep, or any other
animal to be cared for by his
neighbor, but it dies or is injured or
stolen while no one is watching,
If it be
torn in pieces, then let him bring it for witness, and he shall not make good that which was
torn.
And if a man
borrow ought of his neighbour, and it be
hurt, or die, the owner thereof being not with it, he shall surely make it good.
If a man borrows an
animal from his
neighbor and it is injured or dies while its owner is not present, he must make full
restitution.
But if the owner thereof be with it, he shall not make it good: if it be an
hired thing, it came for his
hire.
If the owner was present, no
restitution is required. If the
animal was rented, the fee covers the loss.
Whosoever lieth with a beast shall surely be put to death.
Whoever lies with an
animal must surely be put to death.
And ye shall be holy men unto me: neither shall ye eat any flesh that is
torn of beasts in the field; ye shall cast it to the dogs.
You are to be My holy people. You must not eat the meat of a
mauled animal found in the field; you are to throw it to the dogs.
But the seventh year thou shalt let it rest and lie still; that the poor of thy people may eat: and what they leave the beasts of the field shall eat. In like manner thou shalt deal with thy
vineyard, and with thy oliveyard.
but in the seventh year you must let it rest and lie
fallow, so that the poor among your people may eat from the field and the wild
animals may
consume what they leave. Do the same with your
vineyard and olive
grove.
I will not drive them out from before thee in one year; lest the land become
desolate, and the beast of the field multiply against thee.
I will not drive them out before you in a single year; otherwise the land would become
desolate and wild
animals would multiply against you.
Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, If any man of you bring an offering unto the LORD, ye shall bring your offering of the cattle, even of the
herd, and of the flock.
“Speak to the Israelites and tell them: When any of you brings an offering to the LORD, you may bring as your offering an
animal from the
herd or the flock.
And he shall cut it into his pieces, with his head and his fat: and the priest shall lay them in order on the wood that is on the fire which is upon the altar:
He is to cut the
animal into pieces, and the priest shall arrange them, including the head and fat,
atop the burning wood that is on the altar.
And if his
oblation be a sacrifice of peace offering, if he offer it of the
herd; whether it be a male or female, he shall offer it without
blemish before the LORD.
“If one’s offering is a peace offering and he offers an
animal from the
herd, whether male or female, he must present it without
blemish before the LORD.
Or if a soul touch any unclean thing, whether it be a
carcase of an unclean beast, or a
carcase of unclean cattle, or the
carcase of unclean
creeping things, and if it be hidden from him; he also shall be unclean, and guilty.
Or if a person touches anything unclean—whether the
carcass of any unclean wild
animal or
livestock or
crawling creature—even if he is unaware of it, he is unclean and guilty.
Moreover the soul that shall touch any unclean thing, as the uncleanness of man, or any unclean beast, or any
abominable unclean thing, and eat of the flesh of the sacrifice of peace offerings, which
pertain unto the LORD, even that soul shall be cut off from his people.
If one touches anything unclean, whether human uncleanness, an unclean
animal, or any unclean,
detestable thing, and then eats any of the meat of the peace offering that belongs to the LORD, that person must be cut off from his people.”
And the fat of the beast that dieth of itself, and the fat of that which is
torn with beasts, may be used in any other use: but ye shall in no wise eat of it.
The fat of an
animal found dead or
mauled by wild beasts may be used for any other purpose, but you must not eat it.
For
whosoever eateth the fat of the beast, of which men offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD, even the soul that eateth it shall be cut off from his people.
If
anyone eats the fat of an
animal from which an offering made by fire may be presented to the LORD, the one who eats it must be cut off from his people.
Moreover ye shall eat no manner of blood, whether it be of fowl or of beast, in any of your dwellings.
You must not eat the blood of any bird or animal in any of your dwellings.
Whatsoever parteth the
hoof, and is clovenfooted, and cheweth the
cud, among the beasts, that shall ye eat.
You may eat any
animal that has a split
hoof completely divided and that chews the
cud.
The carcases of every beast which divideth the
hoof, and is not clovenfooted, nor cheweth the
cud, are unclean unto you: every one that toucheth them shall be unclean.
Every
animal with
hooves not completely divided or that does not
chew the
cud is unclean for you.
Whoever touches any of them will be unclean.
And
whatsoever goeth upon his paws, among all manner of beasts that go on all four, those are unclean unto you:
whoso toucheth their
carcase shall be unclean until the even.
All the four-footed
animals that walk on their paws are unclean for you;
whoever touches their
carcasses will be unclean until evening,
These are unclean to you among all that
creep:
whosoever doth touch them, when they be dead, shall be unclean until the even.
These
animals are unclean for you among all the
crawling creatures.
Whoever touches them when they are dead shall be unclean until evening.
And if any beast, of which ye may eat, die; he that toucheth the
carcase thereof shall be unclean until the even.
If an
animal that you may eat dies,
anyone who touches the
carcass will be unclean until evening.
This is the law of the beasts, and of the fowl, and of every living creature that moveth in the waters, and of every creature that creepeth upon the earth:
This is the law regarding
animals, birds, all living creatures that move in the water, and all creatures that
crawl along the ground.
To make a difference between the unclean and the clean, and between the beast that may be eaten and the beast that may not be eaten.
You must distinguish between the unclean and the clean, between animals that may be eaten and those that may not.’”
And
whatsoever man there be of the children of Israel, or of the strangers that
sojourn among you, which hunteth and catcheth any beast or fowl that may be eaten; he shall even pour out the blood thereof, and cover it with dust.
And if any
Israelite or foreigner living among them hunts down a wild
animal or bird that may be eaten, he must
drain its blood and cover it with
dirt.
Neither shalt thou lie with any beast to
defile thyself therewith: neither shall any woman stand before a beast to lie down
thereto: it is confusion.
And if a man lie with a beast, he shall surely be put to death: and ye shall
slay the beast.
If a man lies
carnally with an
animal, he must be put to death. And you are also to kill the
animal.
And if a woman approach unto any beast, and lie down
thereto, thou shalt kill the woman, and the beast: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.
If a woman approaches any
animal to
mate with it, you must kill both the woman and the
animal. They must surely be put to death; their blood is upon them.
Ye shall therefore put difference between clean beasts and unclean, and between unclean fowls and clean: and ye shall not make your souls
abominable by beast, or by fowl, or by any manner of living thing that creepeth on the ground, which I have separated from you as unclean.
You are therefore to distinguish between clean and unclean
animals and birds. Do not become
contaminated by any
animal or bird, or by anything that crawls on the ground; I have set these apart as unclean for you.
That which dieth of itself, or is
torn with beasts, he shall not eat to
defile himself
therewith: I am the LORD.
He must not eat anything found dead or
torn by wild
animals, which would make him unclean. I am the LORD.
Blind, or broken, or
maimed, or having a
wen, or
scurvy, or
scabbed, ye shall not offer these unto the LORD, nor make an offering by fire of them upon the altar unto the LORD.
You are not to present to the LORD any
animal that is blind, injured, or
maimed, or anything with a running
sore, a
festering rash, or a
scab; you must not put any of these on the altar as an offering made by fire to the LORD.
Ye shall not offer unto the LORD that which is
bruised, or
crushed, or broken, or cut; neither shall ye make any offering thereof in your land.
You are not to present to the LORD an
animal whose testicles are
bruised,
crushed,
torn, or cut; you are not to sacrifice them in your land.
Neither from a stranger’s hand shall ye offer the bread of your God of any of these; because their corruption is in them, and
blemishes be in them: they shall not be accepted for you.
Neither you nor a foreigner shall present food to your God from any such
animal. They will not be accepted on your behalf, because they are
deformed and
flawed.’”
And he that killeth a beast shall make it good; beast for beast.
And he that killeth a beast, he shall restore it: and he that killeth a man, he shall be put to death.
And for thy cattle, and for the beast that are in thy land, shall all the increase thereof be meat.
and for your
livestock and the wild
animals in your land. All its growth may serve as food.
And I will give peace in the land, and ye shall lie down, and none shall make you afraid: and I will rid evil beasts out of the land, neither shall the sword go through your land.
And I will give peace to the land, and you will lie down with nothing to fear. I will rid the land of dangerous animals, and no sword will pass through your land.
I will also send wild beasts among you, which shall
rob you of your children, and destroy your cattle, and make you few in number; and your high ways shall be
desolate.
I will send wild
animals against you to
rob you of your children, destroy your
livestock, and reduce your numbers, until your roads lie
desolate.
And if it be a beast,
whereof men bring an offering unto the LORD, all that any man giveth of such unto the LORD shall be holy.
If he vows an animal that may be brought as an offering to the LORD, any such animal given to the LORD shall be holy.
He shall not alter it, nor change it, a good for a bad, or a bad for a good: and if he shall at all change beast for beast, then it and the exchange thereof shall be holy.
He must not replace it or exchange it, either good for bad or bad for good. But if he does substitute one animal for another, both that animal and its substitute will be holy.
And if it be any unclean beast, of which they do not offer a sacrifice unto the LORD, then he shall present the beast before the priest:
But if the
vow involves any of the unclean
animals that may not be brought as an offering to the LORD, the
animal must be presented before the priest.
But if he will at all
redeem it, then he shall add a fifth part thereof unto thy
estimation.
If, however, the owner decides to
redeem the
animal, he must add a fifth to its value.
And if it be of an unclean beast, then he shall
redeem it according to thine
estimation, and shall add a fifth part of it
thereto: or if it be not redeemed, then it shall be sold according to thy
estimation.
But if it is among the unclean
animals, then he may
redeem it according to your
valuation and add a fifth of its value. If it is not redeemed, then it shall be sold according to your
valuation.
Notwithstanding no devoted thing, that a man shall
devote unto the LORD of all that he hath, both of man and beast, and of the field of his possession, shall be sold or redeemed: every devoted thing is most holy unto the LORD.
Nothing that a man sets apart to the LORD from all he owns—whether a man, an animal, or his inherited land—can be sold or redeemed; everything so devoted is most holy to the LORD.
And concerning the
tithe of the
herd, or of the flock, even of
whatsoever passeth under the rod, the tenth shall be holy unto the LORD.
Every tenth
animal from the
herd or flock that passes under the
shepherd’s rod will be holy to the LORD.
He shall not search whether it be good or bad, neither shall he change it: and if he change it at all, then both it and the change thereof shall be holy; it shall not be redeemed.
He must not
inspect whether it is good or bad, and he shall not make any substitution. But if he does make a substitution, both the
animal and its substitute shall become holy; they cannot be redeemed.’”
Every thing that openeth the
matrix in all flesh, which they bring unto the LORD, whether it be of men or beasts, shall be thine: nevertheless the
firstborn of man shalt thou surely
redeem, and the
firstling of unclean beasts shalt thou
redeem.
The
firstborn of every
womb, whether man or beast, that is offered to the LORD belongs to you. But you must surely
redeem every
firstborn son and every
firstborn male of unclean
animals.
Ye shall offer them beside the continual burnt offering, and his meat offering, (they shall be unto you without
blemish) and their drink offerings.
Offer them with their drink offerings in addition to the regular burnt offering and its grain offering. The
animals must be
unblemished.
And they took all the
spoil, and all the prey, both of men and of beasts.
and carried away all the
plunder and spoils, both people and
animals.
And of the children of Israel’s half, thou shalt take one portion of fifty, of the persons, of the
beeves, of the
asses, and of the flocks, of all manner of beasts, and give them unto the Levites, which keep the charge of the tabernacle of the LORD.
From the Israelites’ half, take one out of every fifty, whether persons, cattle,
donkeys, sheep, or other
animals, and give them to the Levites who keep charge of the tabernacle of the LORD.”
Even of the children of Israel’s half, Moses took one portion of fifty, both of man and of beast, and gave them unto the Levites, which kept the charge of the tabernacle of the LORD; as the LORD commanded Moses.
From the Israelites’ half, Moses took one out of every fifty persons and animals and gave them to the Levites who kept charge of the tabernacle of the LORD, as the LORD had commanded him.
Our little ones, our wives, our flocks, and all our cattle, shall be there in the cities of
Gilead:
Our children, our wives, our
livestock, and all our
animals will remain here in the cities of
Gilead.
And the LORD thy God will put out those nations before thee by little and little: thou mayest not
consume them at once, lest the beasts of the field increase upon thee.
The LORD your God will drive out these nations before you little by little. You will not be enabled to
eliminate them all at once, or the wild
animals would multiply around you.
These are the beasts which ye shall eat: the ox, the sheep, and the goat,
These are the animals that you may eat: The ox, the sheep, the goat,
And every beast that parteth the
hoof, and cleaveth the
cleft into two claws, and cheweth the
cud among the beasts, that ye shall eat.
You may eat any
animal that has a split
hoof divided in two and that chews the
cud.
And if there be any
blemish therein, as if it be
lame, or blind, or have any ill
blemish, thou shalt not sacrifice it unto the LORD thy God.
But if an
animal has a defect, is
lame or blind, or has any serious
flaw, you must not sacrifice it to the LORD your God.
Thou mayest not sacrifice the
passover within any of thy gates, which the LORD thy God giveth thee:
You are not to sacrifice the
Passover animal in any of the towns that the LORD your God is giving you.
And if thy brother be not
nigh unto thee, or if thou know him not, then thou shalt bring it unto thine own house, and it shall be with thee until thy brother seek after it, and thou shalt restore it to him again.
If your brother does not live near you, or if you do not know who he is, you are to take the animal home to remain with you until your brother comes seeking it; then you can return it to him.
Cursed be he that lieth with any manner of beast. And all the people shall say,
Amen.
‘
Cursed is he who lies with any
animal.’ And let all the people say, ‘
Amen!’
And the men of Israel turned again upon the children of Benjamin, and
smote them with the edge of the sword, as well the men of every city, as the beast, and all that came to hand: also they set on fire all the cities that they came to.
And the men of Israel turned back against the other Benjamites and put to the sword all the cities, including the animals and everything else they found. And they burned down all the cities in their path.
And he spake of trees, from the
cedar tree that is in
Lebanon even unto the
hyssop that springeth out of the wall: he spake also of beasts, and of fowl, and of
creeping things, and of fishes.
He spoke of trees, from the
cedar in
Lebanon to the
hyssop growing in the wall, and he taught about
animals, birds, reptiles, and fish.
So the king of Israel went, and the king of Judah, and the king of
Edom: and they
fetched a compass of seven days’ journey: and there was no water for the host, and for the cattle that followed them.
So the king of Israel, the king of Judah, and the king of
Edom set out, and after they had traveled a
roundabout route for seven days, they had no water for their army or for their
animals.
For thus saith the LORD, Ye shall not see wind, neither shall ye see rain; yet that valley shall be filled with water, that ye may drink, both ye, and your cattle, and your beasts.
For the LORD says, ‘You will not see wind or rain, but the valley will be filled with water, and you will drink—you and your cattle and your animals.’
And they slaughtered the
Passover lambs, while the priests
sprinkled the blood handed to them and the Levites
skinned the
animals.
And they
roasted the
passover with fire according to the
ordinance: but the other holy offerings
sod they in pots, and in caldrons, and in pans, and divided them speedily among all the people.
They
roasted the
Passover animals on the fire according to the regulation, and they boiled the other holy offerings in pots, kettles, and
bowls and quickly brought them to all the people.
And I arose in the night, I and some few men with me; neither told I any man what my God had put in my heart to do at Jerusalem: neither was there any beast with me, save the beast that I
rode upon.
I set out at night with a few men. I did not tell
anyone what my God had laid on my heart to do for Jerusalem. The only
animal with me was the one on which I was riding.
Then I went on to the gate of the fountain, and to the king’s
pool: but there was no place for the beast that was under me to pass.
Then I went on to the Fountain Gate and the King’s
Pool, but there was no room for the
animal under me to get through;
For thou shalt be in league with the stones of the field: and the beasts of the field shall be at peace with thee.
For you will have a covenant with the stones of the field, and the wild animals will be at peace with you.
But ask now the beasts, and they shall teach thee; and the fowls of the air, and they shall tell thee:
But ask the
animals, and they will
instruct you; ask the birds of the air, and they will tell you.
Then the beasts go into dens, and remain in their places.
The wild animals enter their lairs; they settle down in their dens.
And forgetteth that the foot may
crush them, or that the wild beast may break them.
She forgets that a foot may
crush them, or a wild
animal may
trample them.
He giveth to the beast his food, and to the young ravens which cry.
He provides food for the animals, and for the young ravens when they call.
Beasts, and all cattle;
creeping things, and flying fowl:
wild
animals and all cattle,
crawling creatures and flying birds,
A righteous man regardeth the life of his beast: but the tender
mercies of the wicked are cruel.
A righteous man regards the life of his
animal, but the tender
mercies of the wicked are only cruelty.
For that which befalleth the sons of men befalleth beasts; even one thing befalleth them: as the one dieth, so dieth the other;
yea, they have all one breath; so that a man hath no preeminence above a beast: for all is vanity.
For the fates of both men and beasts are the same: As one dies, so dies the other—they all have the same breath. Man has no advantage over the
animals, since everything is
futile.
