Moreover thou knowest also what
Joab the son of Zeruiah did to me, and what he did to the two captains of the hosts of Israel, unto
Abner the son of
Ner, and unto
Amasa the son of Jether, whom he
slew, and shed the blood of war in peace, and put the blood of war upon his
girdle that was about his loins, and in his
shoes that were on his feet.
Moreover, you know what
Joab son of Zeruiah did to me—what he did to
Abner son of
Ner and
Amasa son of Jether, the two commanders of the armies of Israel. He killed them in peacetime to
avenge the blood of war. He
stained with the blood of war the belt
around his
waist and the
sandals on his feet.

Later, Solomon formed an alliance with Pharaoh king of Egypt by marrying his daughter. Solomon brought her to the City of David until he had finished building his palace and the house of the LORD, as well as the wall around Jerusalem.
And against the wall of the house he built chambers round about, against the walls of the house round about, both of the temple and of the
oracle: and he made chambers round about:
Against the walls of the temple and the inner sanctuary, Solomon built a chambered structure around the temple, in which he constructed the side rooms.
The
nethermost chamber was five cubits broad, and the middle was six cubits broad, and the third was seven cubits broad: for without in the wall of the house he made narrowed rests round about, that the beams should not be fastened in the walls of the house.
The bottom floor was five cubits wide, the middle floor six cubits, and the third floor seven cubits. He also placed
offset ledges
around the outside of the temple, so that nothing would be inserted into its walls.
And he carved all the walls of the house round about with carved figures of cherubims and palm trees and open flowers, within and without.
Then he carved the walls all
around the temple, in both the inner and outer
sanctuaries, with carved engravings of
cherubim, palm trees, and open flowers.
And he made the pillars, and two rows round about upon the one network, to cover the chapiters that were upon the top, with pomegranates: and so did he for the other
chapiter.
Likewise, he made the pillars with two rows of pomegranates
around each
grating to cover each capital
atop the pillars.
And under the
brim of it round about there were knops compassing it, ten in a
cubit, compassing the sea round about: the knops were cast in two rows, when it was cast.
Below the
rim, ornamental buds
encircled it, ten per
cubit all the way
around the Sea, cast in two rows as a part of the Sea.
And the mouth of it within the
chapiter and above was a
cubit: but the mouth thereof was round after the work of the base, a
cubit and an half: and also upon the mouth of it were gravings with their borders,
foursquare, not round.
The opening to each stand inside the crown at the top was one
cubit deep, with a round opening like the design of a
pedestal, a
cubit and a half wide. And
around its opening were engravings, but the panels of the stands were square, not round.
For on the plates of the ledges thereof, and on the borders thereof, he graved cherubims, lions, and palm trees, according to the proportion of every one, and additions round about.

wreaths all
around.

And they took the
bullock which was given them, and they dressed it, and called on the name of
Baal from morning even until
noon, saying, O
Baal, hear us. But there was no voice, nor any that answered. And they
leaped upon the altar which was made.
And they took the bull that was given them, prepared it, and called on the name of

And with the stones he built an altar in the name of the LORD: and he made a

jar of water. So he
ate and
drank and lay down again.

merciful kings: let us, I pray thee, put
sackcloth on our loins, and ropes upon our heads, and go out to the king of Israel:
peradventure he will save thy life.
Then the servants of Ben-
hadad said to him, “Look now, we have heard that the kings of the house of Israel are
merciful. Let us go out to the king of Israel with
sackcloth around our waists and ropes
around our heads. Perhaps he will
spare your life.”
So they
girded sackcloth on their loins, and put ropes on their heads, and came to the king of Israel, and said, Thy servant Ben-
hadad saith, I pray thee, let me live. And he said, Is he yet alive? he is my brother.
So with
sackcloth around their waists and ropes
around their heads, they went to the king of Israel and said, “Your servant Ben-
hadad says, ‘Please
spare my life.’” And the king answered, “Is he still alive? He is my brother.”

around his
waist.” “It was
Elijah the Tishbite,” said the king.

Jehu said to the servants of
Baal, “Look
around to see that there are no servants of the LORD here among you—only servants of
Baal.”

Josiah also did away with the

around me because of the unfaithfulness of the exiles, while I sat there in
horror until the evening offering.

Hast not thou made an
hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land.

around him and his household and all that he owns? You have blessed the work of his hands, and his possessions have increased in the land.

Consuming fire precedes Him, and a
tempest rages

Never let loving devotion or faithfulness leave you; bind them
around your neck, write them on the
tablet of your heart.
Bind them continually upon thine heart, and
tie them about thy neck.
Bind them always upon your heart;
tie them
around your neck.

around. They all gather together; they come to you. As surely as I live,” declares the LORD, “you will wear them all as
jewelry and put them on like a
bride.
His
watchmen are blind: they are all ignorant, they are all
dumb dogs, they cannot bark; sleeping, lying down, loving to
slumber.
Israel’s
watchmen are blind, they are all
oblivious; they are all
mute dogs, they cannot bark; they are dreamers lying
around, loving to
slumber.
Lift up thine eyes round about, and see: all they gather themselves together, they come to thee: thy sons shall come from far, and thy daughters shall be
nursed at thy side.
Lift up your eyes and look
around: They all gather and come to you; your sons will come from
afar, and your daughters will be carried on the arm.

Thus saith the LORD unto me, Go and get thee a linen
girdle, and put it upon thy loins, and put it not in water.
This is what the LORD said to me: “Go and
buy yourself a linen loincloth and put it
around your
waist, but do not let it touch water.”
So I got a
girdle according to the word of the LORD, and put it on my loins.
So I bought a loincloth as the LORD had
instructed me, and I put it
around my

hardened their necks, that they might not hear my words.
“This is what the LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, says: ‘Behold, I am about to bring on this city and on all the villages
around it every
disaster I have pronounced against them, because they have
stiffened their necks so as not to
heed My words.’”
But I will
punish you according to the fruit of your doings, saith the LORD: and I will
kindle a fire in the forest thereof, and it shall
devour all things round about it.
I will
punish you as your deeds deserve, declares the LORD. I will
kindle a fire in your forest that will
consume everything
around you.’”

awaked, and
beheld; and my sleep was sweet unto me.
At this I
awoke and looked
around. My sleep had been most pleasant to me.
