That all of you have
conspired against me, and there is none that sheweth me that my son hath made a league with the son of
Jesse, and there is none of you that is
sorry for me, or sheweth unto me that my son hath
stirred up my servant against me, to lie in wait, as at this day?
Is that why all of you have
conspired against me? Not one of you told me that my own son had made a
covenant with the son of
Jesse. Not one of you has shown
concern for me or revealed to me that my son has
stirred up my own servant to lie in wait against me, as is the case
today.”
And they two made a
covenant before the LORD: and David abode in the wood, and
Jonathan went to his house.

covenant before the LORD. And David remained in Horesh, while
Jonathan went home.
And he came to the sheepcotes by the way, where was a cave; and Saul went in to cover his feet: and David and his men remained in the sides of the cave.

relieve himself. And David and his men were hiding in the recesses of the cave.

And he said unto her, What form is he of? And she said, An old man cometh up; and he is
covered with a
mantle. And Saul perceived that it was Samuel, and he
stooped with his face to the ground, and bowed himself.
“What does he look like?” asked Saul. “An old man is coming up,” she replied. “And he is wearing a
robe.” So Saul knew that it was Samuel, and he bowed facedown in reverence.
And
Abner sent messengers to David on his behalf, saying, Whose is the land? saying also, Make thy league with me, and, behold, my hand shall be with thee, to bring about all Israel unto thee.
Then
Abner sent messengers in his place to say to David, “To whom does the land belong? Make your
covenant with me, and surely my hand will be with you to bring all Israel over to you.”
And he said, Well; I will make a league with thee: but one thing I require of thee, that is, Thou shalt not see my face, except thou first bring Michal Saul’s daughter, when thou comest to see my face.
“Good,” replied David, “I will make a covenant with you. But there is one thing I require of you: Do not appear before me unless you bring Saul’s daughter Michal when you come to see me.”
And
Abner said unto David, I will arise and go, and will gather all Israel unto my lord the king, that they may make a league with thee, and that thou mayest reign over all that thine heart desireth. And David sent
Abner away; and he went in peace.
Then
Abner said to David, “Let me go at once, and I will gather all Israel to my lord the king, that they may make a
covenant with you, and that you may rule over all that your heart desires.” So David dismissed
Abner, and he went in peace.

covenant before the LORD. And they
anointed him king over Israel.

covenant of God: and they set down the ark of God; and
Abiathar went up, until all the people had done passing out of the city.
Zadok was also there, and all the Levites with him were carrying the ark of the
covenant of God. And they set down the ark of God, and
Abiathar offered sacrifices until the people had passed out of the city.
And David went up by the
ascent of mount Olivet, and
wept as he went up, and had his head
covered, and he went
barefoot: and all the people that was with him
covered every man his head, and they went up,
weeping as they went up.
But David continued up the Mount of Olives,
weeping as he went up. His head was
covered, and he was walking
barefoot. And all the people with him
covered their heads and went up,
weeping as they went.
And the woman took and spread a
covering over the well’s mouth, and spread ground corn
thereon; and the thing was not known.

nobody would know a thing.
But the king
covered his face, and the king
cried with a loud voice, O my son
Absalom, O
Absalom, my son, my son!
But the king
covered his face and
cried out at the top of his voice, “O my son
Absalom! O
Absalom, my son, my son!”
Although my house be not so with God; yet he hath made with me an
everlasting covenant, ordered in all things, and sure: for this is all my salvation, and all my desire, although he make it not to grow.
Is not my house right with God? For He has established with me an
everlasting covenant, ordered and secured in every part. Will He not bring about my full salvation and my every desire?

stricken in years; and they

And Solomon
awoke; and, behold, it was a dream. And he came to Jerusalem, and stood before the ark of the
covenant of the LORD, and offered up burnt offerings, and offered peace offerings, and made a feast to all his servants.
Then Solomon
awoke, and indeed it had been a dream. So he returned to Jerusalem, stood before the ark of the
covenant of the Lord, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings. Then he held a feast for all his servants.
So he built the house, and finished it; and
covered the house with beams and boards of
cedar.
So Solomon built the temple and finished it, roofing it with beams and planks of
cedar.
And he built the walls of the house within with boards of
cedar, both the floor of the house, and the walls of the cieling: and he
covered them on the inside with wood, and
covered the floor of the house with planks of
fir.
He lined the interior walls with
cedar paneling from the floor of the temple to the
ceiling, and he
covered the floor with
cypress boards.
And the
oracle he prepared in the house within, to set there the ark of the
covenant of the LORD.
Solomon also prepared the inner sanctuary within the temple to set the ark of the covenant of the LORD there.
And the
oracle in the
forepart was twenty cubits in length, and twenty cubits in breadth, and twenty cubits in the height thereof: and he overlaid it with pure gold; and so
covered the altar which was of
cedar.
The inner sanctuary was twenty cubits long, twenty cubits wide, and twenty cubits high. He overlaid the inside with pure gold, and he also overlaid the altar of
cedar.
And he carved
thereon cherubims and palm trees and open flowers: and
covered them with gold fitted upon the carved work.
He carved into them
cherubim, palm trees, and open flowers; and he overlaid them with gold, hammered evenly over the carvings.
And it was
covered with
cedar above upon the beams, that lay on forty five pillars, fifteen in a row.
The house was roofed with
cedar above the beams that rested on the pillars—forty-five beams, fifteen per row.
Then he made a
porch for the throne where he might judge, even the
porch of judgment: and it was
covered with
cedar from one side of the floor to the other.
In addition, he built a hall for the throne, the Hall of Justice, where he was to judge. It was
paneled with
cedar from floor to
ceiling.
And he made the pillars, and two rows round about upon the one network, to
cover the chapiters that were upon the top, with pomegranates: and so did he for the other
chapiter.
Likewise, he made the pillars with two rows of pomegranates around each
grating to
cover each capital
atop the pillars.
The two pillars, and the two
bowls of the chapiters that were on the top of the two pillars; and the two networks, to
cover the two
bowls of the chapiters which were upon the top of the pillars;
the two pillars; the two
bowl-shaped capitals
atop the pillars; the two sets of network
covering both
bowls of the capitals
atop the pillars;
And four hundred pomegranates for the two networks, even two rows of pomegranates for one network, to
cover the two
bowls of the chapiters that were upon the pillars;
the four hundred pomegranates for the two sets of network (two rows of pomegranates for each network

Then Solomon assembled the elders of Israel, and all the heads of the tribes, the chief of the fathers of the children of Israel, unto king Solomon in Jerusalem, that they might bring up the ark of the
covenant of the LORD out of the city of David, which is
Zion.
At that time Solomon assembled before him in Jerusalem the elders of Israel—all the
tribal heads and family leaders of the Israelites—to bring up the ark of the
covenant of the LORD from
Zion, the City of David.
And the priests brought in the ark of the
covenant of the LORD unto his place, into the
oracle of the house, to the most holy place, even under the wings of the cherubims.
Then the priests brought the ark of the
covenant of the LORD to its place in the inner sanctuary of the temple, the Most Holy Place, beneath the wings of the
cherubim.
For the cherubims spread forth their two wings over the place of the ark, and the cherubims
covered the ark and the
staves thereof above.
For the
cherubim spread their wings over the place of the ark and overshadowed the ark and its poles.
There was nothing in the ark save the two tables of stone, which Moses put there at
Horeb, when the LORD made a
covenant with the children of Israel, when they came out of the land of Egypt.
There was nothing in the ark except the two stone tablets that Moses had placed in it at
Horeb, where the LORD had made a
covenant with the Israelites after they had come out of the land of Egypt.
And I have set there a place for the ark, wherein is the covenant of the LORD, which he made with our fathers, when he brought them out of the land of Egypt.
And there I have provided a place for the ark, which contains the covenant of the LORD that He made with our fathers when He brought them out of the land of Egypt.”
And he said, LORD God of Israel, there is no God like thee, in heaven above, or on earth beneath, who keepest covenant and mercy with thy servants that walk before thee with all their heart:
and said: “O LORD, God of Israel, there is no God like You in heaven above or on earth below, keeping Your covenant of loving devotion with Your servants who walk before You with all their hearts.
Wherefore the LORD said unto Solomon,
Forasmuch as this is done of thee, and thou hast not kept my
covenant and my statutes, which I have commanded thee, I will surely
rend the kingdom from thee, and will give it to thy servant.
Then the LORD said to Solomon, “Because you have done this and have not kept My
covenant and My statutes, which I have commanded you, I will
tear the kingdom away from you and give it to your servant.
And he said, I have been very
jealous for the LORD God of hosts: for the children of Israel have
forsaken thy
covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away.
“I have been very
zealous for the LORD, the God of Hosts,” he replied, “but the Israelites have
forsaken Your
covenant,
torn down Your altars, and killed Your prophets with the sword. I am the only one left, and they are seeking my life as well.”
And he said, I have been very
jealous for the LORD God of hosts: because the children of Israel have
forsaken thy
covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away.
“I have been very
zealous for the LORD, the God of Hosts,” he replied, “but the Israelites have
forsaken Your
covenant,
torn down Your altars, and killed Your prophets with the sword. I am the only one left, and they are seeking my life as well.”
And the children of Israel were numbered, and were all present, and went against them: and the children of Israel pitched before them like two little flocks of kids; but the Syrians filled the country.
The Israelites also
mobilized, gathered supplies, and marched out to meet them. The Israelites camped before them like two small flocks of goats, while the Arameans
covered the
countryside.
And Ben-
hadad said unto him, The cities, which my father took from thy father, I will restore; and thou shalt make streets for thee in Damascus, as my father made in Samaria. Then said
Ahab, I will send thee away with this
covenant. So he made a
covenant with him, and sent him away.
Ben-
hadad said to him, “I will restore the cities my father took from your father; you may set up your own marketplaces in Damascus, as my father did in Samaria.” “By this treaty I release you,”
Ahab replied. So he made a treaty with him and sent him away.
And they beat down the cities, and on every good piece of land cast every man his stone, and filled it; and they stopped all the wells of water, and felled all the good trees: only in Kir-haraseth left they the stones thereof;
howbeit the slingers went about it, and
smote it.
They destroyed the cities, and each man threw stones on every good field until it was
covered. They stopped up every spring and cut down every good tree. Only Kir-haraseth was left with stones in place, but men with
slings surrounded it and attacked it as well.
And the seventh year Jehoiada sent and
fetched the rulers over hundreds, with the captains and the guard, and brought them to him into the house of the LORD, and made a
covenant with them, and took an oath of them in the house of the LORD, and shewed them the king’s son.
Then in the seventh year, Jehoiada sent for the commanders of hundreds, the Carites, and the guards, and had them brought into the house of the LORD. There he made a covenant with them and put them under oath. He showed them the king’s son

And the LORD was
gracious unto them, and had
compassion on them, and had respect unto them, because of his
covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and would not destroy them, neither cast he them from his presence as yet.
But the LORD was
gracious to Israel and had
compassion on them, and He turned toward them because of His
covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. And to this day, the LORD has been unwilling to destroy them or cast them from His presence.
And the
covert for the sabbath that they had built in the house, and the king’s entry without, turned he from the house of the LORD for the king of Assyria.
And on account of the king of Assyria, he removed the Sabbath
canopy they had built in the temple and closed the royal entryway outside the house of the LORD.
And they rejected his statutes, and his
covenant that he made with their fathers, and his
testimonies which he
testified against them; and they followed vanity, and became vain, and went after the heathen that were round about them, concerning whom the LORD had charged them, that they should not do like them.
They rejected His statutes and the
covenant He had made with their fathers, as well as the decrees He had given them. They pursued worthless idols and themselves became worthless, going after the surrounding nations that the LORD had commanded them not to
imitate.
With whom the LORD had made a
covenant, and charged them saying, Ye shall not fear other gods, nor bow
yourselves to them, nor serve them, nor sacrifice to them:
For the LORD had made a covenant with the Israelites and commanded them, “Do not worship other gods or bow down to them; do not serve them or sacrifice to them.
And the
covenant that I have made with you ye shall not
forget; neither shall ye fear other gods.
Do not
forget the
covenant I have made with you. Do not worship other gods,
Because they obeyed not the voice of the LORD their God, but
transgressed his
covenant, and all that Moses the servant of the LORD commanded, and would not hear them, nor do them.
This happened because they did not
listen to the voice of the LORD their God, but
violated His
covenant—all that Moses the servant of the LORD had commanded—and would neither
listen nor obey.
And it came to pass, when king
Hezekiah heard it, that he rent his clothes, and
covered himself with
sackcloth, and went into the house of the LORD.
On hearing this report, King
Hezekiah tore his clothes, put on
sackcloth, and entered the house of the LORD.
And he sent Eliakim, which was over the household, and Shebna the
scribe, and the elders of the priests,
covered with
sackcloth, to Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz.
And he sent Eliakim the palace
administrator, Shebna the
scribe, and the leading priests, all wearing
sackcloth, to the prophet Isaiah son of Amoz
And the king went up into the house of the LORD, and all the men of Judah and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem with him, and the priests, and the prophets, and all the people, both small and great: and he read in their ears all the words of the book of the covenant which was found in the house of the LORD.

And the king stood by a
pillar, and made a
covenant before the LORD, to walk after the LORD, and to keep his commandments and his
testimonies and his statutes with all their heart and all their soul, to perform the words of this
covenant that were written in this book. And all the people stood to the
covenant.
So the king stood by the
pillar and made a
covenant before the LORD to follow the LORD and to keep His commandments, decrees, and statutes with all his heart and all his soul, and to carry out the words of this
covenant that were written in this book. And all the people entered into the
covenant.

passover unto the LORD your God, as it is written in the book of this
covenant.

Covenant.”

Hebron before the LORD; and they

Hebron, where David made a
covenant with them before the LORD. And they
anointed him king over Israel, according to the word of the LORD through Samuel.

covenant of the LORD with
shouting, with the sounding of rams’ horns and
trumpets, and with cymbals and the music of harps and lyres.
And it came to pass, as the ark of the
covenant of the LORD came to the city of David, that Michal the daughter of Saul looking out at a window saw king David dancing and playing: and she

celebrating, and she
despised him in her heart.
Benaiah also and Jahaziel the priests with
trumpets continually before the ark of the
covenant of God.

blew the
trumpets regularly before the ark of the
covenant of God.
Be ye mindful always of his covenant; the word which he commanded to a thousand generations;
Remember His
covenant forever, the word He ordained for a thousand generations—
Even of the covenant which he made with Abraham, and of his oath unto Isaac;
the
covenant He made with Abraham, and the oath He
swore to Isaac.
And hath confirmed the same to Jacob for a law, and to Israel for an
everlasting covenant,
He confirmed it to Jacob as a decree, to Israel as an
everlasting covenant:
So he left there before the ark of the
covenant of the LORD
Asaph and his brethren, to minister before the ark continually, as every day’s work required:
So David left
Asaph and his brothers there before the ark of the
covenant of the LORD, to minister there regularly according to the daily requirements,

covenant of the LORD remaineth under curtains.
After David had settled into his palace, he said to
Nathan the prophet, “Here I am, living in a house of
cedar, while the ark of the
covenant of the LORD is under a tent.”
Now set your heart and your soul to seek the LORD your God; arise therefore, and build ye the sanctuary of the LORD God, to bring the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and the holy vessels of God, into the house that is to be built to the name of the LORD.
Now set your heart and soul to seek the LORD your God. Get started building the sanctuary of the LORD God, so that you may bring the ark of the covenant of the LORD and the holy articles of God into the temple that will be built for the Name of the LORD.”
Then David the king stood up upon his feet, and said, Hear me, my brethren, and my people: As for me, I had in mine heart to build an house of rest for the ark of the
covenant of the LORD, and for the
footstool of our God, and had made ready for the building:
Then King David rose to his feet and said, “
Listen to me, my brothers and my people. It was in my heart to build a house as a resting place for the ark of the
covenant of the LORD and as a
footstool for our God. I had made preparations to build it,

And said, O LORD God of Israel, there is no God like thee in the heaven, nor in the earth; which keepest covenant, and shewest mercy unto thy servants, that walk before thee with all their hearts:
and said: “O LORD, God of Israel, there is no God like You in heaven or on earth, keeping Your covenant of loving devotion with Your servants who walk before You with all their hearts.
Then will I
stablish the throne of thy kingdom, according as I have
covenanted with David thy father, saying, There shall not fail thee a man to be ruler in Israel.
then I will establish your royal throne, as I covenanted with your father David when I said, ‘You will never fail to have a man to rule over Israel.’
Ought ye not to know that the LORD God of Israel gave the kingdom over Israel to David for ever, even to him and to his sons by a covenant of salt?
Do you not know that the LORD, the God of Israel, has given the
kingship of Israel to David and his descendants
forever by a
covenant of salt?
And they entered into a covenant to seek the LORD God of their fathers with all their heart and with all their soul;
Then they entered into a covenant to seek the LORD, the God of their fathers, with all their heart and soul.
Howbeit the LORD would not destroy the house of David, because of the
covenant that he had made with David, and as he promised to give a light to him and to his sons for ever.
Yet the LORD was unwilling to destroy the house of David, because of the

forever.

Azariah the son of Jeroham, and
Ishmael the son of Jehohanan, and
Azariah the son of Obed, and Maaseiah the son of Adaiah, and Elishaphat the son of Zichri, into
covenant with him.
Then in the seventh year, Jehoiada strengthened himself and made a
covenant with the commanders of hundreds—with
Azariah son of Jeroham,
Ishmael son of Jehohanan,
Azariah son of Obed, Maaseiah son of Adaiah, and Elishaphat son of Zichri.

Now it is in my heart to make a covenant with the LORD, the God of Israel, so that His fierce anger will turn away from us.
And the king went up into the house of the LORD, and all the men of Judah, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and the priests, and the Levites, and all the people, great and small: and he read in their ears all the words of the book of the covenant that was found in the house of the LORD.

And he caused all that were present in Jerusalem and Benjamin to stand to it. And the inhabitants of Jerusalem did according to the covenant of God, the God of their fathers.

everyone in Jerusalem and Benjamin take a stand in agreement to it. So all the people of Jerusalem carried out the
covenant of God, the God of their fathers.
Now therefore let us make a
covenant with our God to put away all the wives, and such as are born of them, according to the counsel of my lord, and of those that
tremble at the commandment of our God; and let it be done according to the law.
So now let us make a
covenant before our God to send away all the foreign wives and their children, according to the counsel of my lord and of those who
tremble at the command of our God. Let it be done according to the Law.
And said, I
beseech thee, O LORD God of heaven, the great and terrible God, that keepeth
covenant and mercy for them that love him and observe his commandments:
Then I said: “O LORD, God of heaven, the great and

But the gate of the fountain repaired Shallun the son of
Col-hozeh, the ruler of part of
Mizpah; he built it, and
covered it, and set up the doors thereof, the locks thereof, and the bars thereof, and the wall of the
pool of
Siloah by the king’s garden, and unto the stairs that go down from the city of David.
The Fountain Gate was repaired by Shallun son of
Col-hozeh, ruler of the district of
Mizpah. He rebuilt it, roofed it, and
installed its doors, bolts, and bars. He also repaired the wall of the
Pool of Shelah near the king’s garden, as far as the stairs that descend from the City of David.
And
cover not their iniquity, and let not their sin be
blotted out from before thee: for they have
provoked thee to anger before the builders.
Do not
cover up their iniquity or let their sin be
blotted out from Your sight, for they have
provoked the builders.
And foundest his heart faithful before thee, and madest a
covenant with him to give the land of the
Canaanites, the
Hittites, the
Amorites, and the
Perizzites, and the Jebusites, and the Girgashites, to give it, I say, to his seed, and hast performed thy words; for thou art righteous:
You found his heart faithful before You, and made a
covenant with him to give the land of the
Canaanites and
Hittites, of the
Amorites and
Perizzites, of the Jebusites and Girgashites— to give it to his descendants. You have kept Your promise, because You are righteous.
Now therefore, our God, the great, the mighty, and the terrible God, who keepest covenant and mercy, let not all the trouble seem little before thee, that hath come upon us, on our kings, on our princes, and on our priests, and on our prophets, and on our fathers, and on all thy people, since the time of the kings of Assyria unto this day.
So now, our God, the great and mighty and
awesome God who keeps His
gracious covenant, do not view lightly all the
hardship that has come upon us, and upon our kings and leaders, our priests and prophets, our ancestors and all Your people, from the days of the kings of Assyria until
today.
And because of all this we make a sure covenant, and write it; and our princes, Levites, and priests, seal unto it.
In view of all this, we make a binding agreement, putting it in writing and sealing it with the names of our leaders, Levites, and priests.”
Remember them, O my God, because they have
defiled the priesthood, and the
covenant of the priesthood, and of the Levites.
Remember them, O my God, because they have
defiled the priesthood and the
covenant of the priesthood and of the Levites.
And
Mordecai came again to the king’s gate. But
Haman hasted to his house
mourning, and having his head
covered.
Then
Mordecai returned to the king’s gate. But
Haman rushed home, with his head
covered in grief.
Then the king returned out of the palace garden into the place of the
banquet of wine; and
Haman was fallen upon the bed
whereon Esther was. Then said the king, Will he force the queen also before me in the house? As the word went out of the king’s mouth, they
covered Haman’s face.
Just as the king returned from the palace garden to the
banquet hall,
Haman was falling on the
couch where
Esther was
reclining. The king
exclaimed, “Would he actually
assault the queen while I am in the palace?” As soon as the words had left the king’s mouth, they
covered Haman’s face.
For thou shalt be in league with the stones of the field: and the beasts of the field shall be at peace with thee.
For you will have a covenant with the stones of the field, and the wild animals will be at peace with you.
The earth is given into the hand of the wicked: he covereth the faces of the judges thereof; if not, where, and who is he?
The earth is given into the hand of the wicked; He blindfolds its judges. If it is not He, then who is it?
My
transgression would be sealed in a
bag, and You would
cover over my iniquity.
Because he covereth his face with his fatness, and maketh collops of fat on his flanks.
Though his face is covered with fat and his waistline bulges with flesh,
O earth, cover not thou my blood, and let my cry have no place.
O earth, do not cover my blood; may my cry for help never be laid to rest.
