Abram brought all these to Him, split each of them down the middle, and laid the
halves opposite each other. The birds, however, he did not
cut in half.

cut off from his people; he has broken My covenant.”

cut off the
foreskin of her son, and cast it at his feet, and said, Surely a
bloody husband art thou to me.

foreskin, and touched it to Moses’ feet. “Surely you are a
bridegroom of blood to me,” she said.
For now I will stretch out my hand, that I may
smite thee and thy people with
pestilence; and thou shalt be
cut off from the earth.
For by this time I could have stretched out My hand and struck you and your people with a plague to
wipe you off the earth.
Seven days shall ye eat
unleavened bread; even the first day ye shall put away
leaven out of your houses: for
whosoever eateth
leavened bread from the first day until the seventh day, that soul shall be
cut off from Israel.
For seven days you must eat
unleavened bread. On the first day you are to remove the
leaven from your houses.
Whoever eats anything
leavened from the first day through the seventh must be
cut off from Israel.
Seven days shall there be no
leaven found in your houses: for
whosoever eateth that which is
leavened, even that soul shall be
cut off from the congregation of Israel, whether he be a stranger, or born in the land.
For seven days there must be no
leaven found in your houses. If
anyone eats something
leavened, that person, whether a foreigner or native of the land, must be
cut off from the congregation of Israel.
With the work of an
engraver in stone, like the engravings of a
signet, shalt thou
engrave the two stones with the names of the children of Israel: thou shalt make them to be set in ouches of gold.
Engrave the names of the sons of Israel on the two stones the way a
gem cutter engraves a seal. Then mount the stones in gold
filigree settings.

whosoever putteth any of it upon a stranger, shall even be
cut off from his people.

whosoever doeth any work therein, that soul shall be
cut off from among his people.
Keep the Sabbath, for it is holy to you.
Anyone who profanes it must surely be put to death.
Whoever does any work on that day must be
cut off from among his people.

Rather, you must
tear down their altars,
smash their sacred stones, and
chop down their Asherah poles.

carving of wood, to make any manner of
cunning work.

And they did beat the gold into thin plates, and
cut it into wires, to work it in the blue, and in the purple, and in the scarlet, and in the fine linen, with
cunning work.
They hammered out thin sheets of gold and
cut threads from them to
interweave with the blue, purple, and scarlet yarn, and fine linen—the work of a skilled
craftsman.
And he shall
flay the burnt offering, and
cut it into his pieces.
Next, he is to skin the burnt offering and cut it into pieces.
And he shall cut it into his pieces, with his head and his fat: and the priest shall lay them in order on the wood that is on the fire which is upon the altar:
He is to
cut the animal into pieces, and the priest shall arrange them, including the head and fat,
atop the burning wood that is on the altar.
And he shall offer of the sacrifice of the peace offering an offering made by fire unto the LORD; the fat thereof, and the whole
rump, it shall he take off hard by the
backbone; and the fat that covereth the inwards, and all the fat that is upon the inwards,
And from the peace offering he shall bring an offering made by fire to the LORD consisting of its fat: the entire fat tail
cut off close to the
backbone, the fat that covers the
entrails, all the fat that is on them,
But the soul that eateth of the flesh of the sacrifice of peace offerings, that
pertain unto the LORD, having his uncleanness upon him, even that soul shall be
cut off from his people.
But if
anyone who is unclean eats meat from the peace offering that belongs to the LORD, that person must be
cut off from his people.
Moreover the soul that shall touch any unclean thing, as the uncleanness of man, or any unclean beast, or any
abominable unclean thing, and eat of the flesh of the sacrifice of peace offerings, which
pertain unto the LORD, even that soul shall be
cut off from his people.
If one touches anything unclean, whether human uncleanness, an unclean animal, or any unclean,
detestable thing, and then eats any of the meat of the peace offering that belongs to the LORD, that person must be
cut off from his people.”
For
whosoever eateth the fat of the beast, of which men offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD, even the soul that eateth it shall be
cut off from his people.

cut off from his people.

cut off from his people.’”

And bringeth it not unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, to offer an offering unto the LORD before the tabernacle of the LORD; blood shall be imputed unto that man; he hath shed blood; and that man shall be cut off from among his people:
instead of bringing it to the entrance to the Tent of Meeting to present it as an offering to the LORD before His tabernacle—that man shall
incur bloodguilt. He has shed blood and must be
cut off from among his people.
And bringeth it not unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, to offer it unto the LORD; even that man shall be cut off from among his people.
but does not bring it to the entrance to the Tent of Meeting to sacrifice it to the LORD, that man must be cut off from his people.
And
whatsoever man there be of the house of Israel, or of the strangers that
sojourn among you, that eateth any manner of blood; I will even set my face against that soul that eateth blood, and will
cut him off from among his people.
If
anyone from the house of Israel or a foreigner living among them eats any blood, I will set My face against that person and
cut him off from among his people.
For it is the life of all flesh; the blood of it is for the life thereof: therefore I said unto the children of Israel, Ye shall eat the blood of no manner of flesh: for the life of all flesh is the blood thereof:
whosoever eateth it shall be
cut off.
For the life of all flesh is its blood. Therefore I have told the Israelites, ‘You must not eat the blood of any living thing, because the life of all flesh is its blood;
whoever eats it must be
cut off.’
For
whosoever shall commit any of these abominations, even the souls that commit them shall be
cut off from among their people.
Therefore
anyone who commits any of these abominations must be
cut off from among his people.
Therefore every one that eateth it shall bear his iniquity, because he hath
profaned the
hallowed thing of the LORD: and that soul shall be
cut off from among his people.
Whoever eats it will bear his iniquity, for he has
profaned what is holy to the LORD. That person must be
cut off from his people.
Ye shall not round the corners of your heads, neither shalt thou
mar the corners of thy
beard.
You must not
cut off the hair at the sides of your head or
clip off the edges of your
beard.
Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD.
You must not make any
cuts in your bodies for the dead or put
tattoo marks on
yourselves. I am the LORD.
And I will set my face against that man, and will
cut him off from among his people; because he hath given of his seed unto
Molech, to
defile my sanctuary, and to
profane my holy name.
And I will set My face against that man and
cut him off from his people, because by giving his offspring to
Molech, he has
defiled My sanctuary and
profaned My holy name.
Then I will set my face against that man, and against his family, and will
cut him off, and all that go a
whoring after him, to commit
whoredom with
Molech, from among their people.
then I will set My face against that man and his family and
cut off from among their people both him and all who follow him in
prostituting themselves with
Molech.
And the soul that turneth after such as have familiar spirits, and after wizards, to go a
whoring after them, I will even set my face against that soul, and will
cut him off from among his people.
Whoever turns to mediums or spiritists to
prostitute himself with them, I will also set My face against that person and
cut him off from his people.
And if a man shall take his sister, his father’s daughter, or his mother’s daughter, and see her nakedness, and she see his nakedness; it is a wicked thing; and they shall be cut off in the sight of their people: he hath uncovered his sister’s nakedness; he shall bear his iniquity.
If a man marries his sister, whether the daughter of his father or of his mother, and they have sexual relations, it is a disgrace. They must be cut off in the sight of their people. He has uncovered the nakedness of his sister; he shall bear his iniquity.
And if a man shall lie with a woman having her sickness, and shall uncover her nakedness; he hath discovered her fountain, and she hath uncovered the fountain of her blood: and both of them shall be cut off from among their people.
If a man lies with a
menstruating woman and has sexual relations with her, he has exposed the source of her flow, and she has uncovered the source of her blood. Both of them must be
cut off from among their people.
They shall not make
baldness upon their head, neither shall they
shave off the corner of their
beard, nor make any
cuttings in their flesh.
Priests must not make
bald spots on their heads,
shave off the edges of their beards, or make
cuts in their bodies.
Say unto them,
Whosoever he be of all your seed among your generations, that goeth unto the holy things, which the children of Israel
hallow unto the LORD, having his uncleanness upon him, that soul shall be
cut off from my presence: I am the LORD.
Tell them that for the generations to come, if any of their descendants in a state of uncleanness approaches the sacred offerings that the Israelites
consecrate to the LORD, that person must be
cut off from My presence. I am the LORD.
Ye shall not offer unto the LORD that which is
bruised, or
crushed, or broken, or
cut; neither shall ye make any offering thereof in your land.
You are not to present to the LORD an animal whose testicles are
bruised,
crushed,
torn, or
cut; you are not to sacrifice them in your land.
For
whatsoever soul it be that shall not be
afflicted in that same day, he shall be
cut off from among his people.
If
anyone does not humble himself on this day, he must be
cut off from his people.
And when I have broken the staff of your bread, ten women shall
bake your bread in one
oven, and they shall deliver you your bread again by weight: and ye shall eat, and not be satisfied.
When I
cut off your supply of bread, ten women will
bake your bread in a single
oven and
dole out your bread by weight, so that you will eat but not be satisfied.
And I will destroy your high places, and
cut down your images, and cast your carcases upon the carcases of your idols, and my soul shall
abhor you.
I will destroy your high places,
cut down your incense altars, and
heap your lifeless bodies on the lifeless remains of your idols; and My soul will
despise you.
Cut ye not off the tribe of the families of the Kohathites from among the Levites:
“Do not allow the Kohathite
tribal clans to be
cut off from among the Levites.
But the man that is clean, and is not in a journey, and forbeareth to keep the
passover, even the same soul shall be
cut off from among his people: because he brought not the offering of the LORD in his appointed season, that man shall bear his sin.
But if a man who is
ceremonially clean and is not on a journey still fails to observe the
Passover, he must be
cut off from his people, because he did not present the LORD’s offering at its appointed time. That man will bear the consequences of his sin.
And they came unto the
brook of
Eshcol, and
cut down from thence a branch with one
cluster of grapes, and they bare it between two upon a staff; and they brought of the pomegranates, and of the figs.
When they came to the Valley of
Eshcol, they
cut down a branch with a single
cluster of grapes, which they carried on a pole between two men. They also took some pomegranates and figs.
The place was called the
brook Eshcol, because of the
cluster of grapes which the children of Israel
cut down from thence.
Because of the
cluster of grapes the Israelites
cut there, that place was called the Valley of
Eshcol.
But the soul that doeth ought
presumptuously, whether he be born in the land, or a stranger, the same reproacheth the LORD; and that soul shall be
cut off from among his people.
But the person who sins defiantly, whether a native or foreigner, blasphemes the LORD. That person shall be cut off from among his people.
Because he hath
despised the word of the LORD, and hath broken his commandment, that soul shall utterly be
cut off; his iniquity shall be upon him.
He shall certainly be
cut off, because he has
despised the word of the LORD and broken His commandment; his guilt remains on him.”
Whosoever toucheth the dead body of any man that is dead, and purifieth not himself, defileth the tabernacle of the LORD; and that soul shall be
cut off from Israel: because the water of separation was not
sprinkled upon him, he shall be unclean; his uncleanness is yet upon him.
Anyone who touches a human
corpse and fails to
purify himself defiles the tabernacle of the LORD. That person must be
cut off from Israel. He remains unclean, because the water of
purification has not been
sprinkled on him, and his uncleanness is still on him.
But the man that shall be unclean, and shall not
purify himself, that soul shall be
cut off from among the congregation, because he hath
defiled the sanctuary of the LORD: the water of separation hath not been
sprinkled upon him; he is unclean.
But if a person who is unclean does not
purify himself, he will be
cut off from the assembly, because he has
defiled the sanctuary of the LORD. The water of
purification has not been
sprinkled on him; he is unclean.
Let us pass, I pray thee, through thy country: we will not pass through the fields, or through the vineyards, neither will we drink of the water of the wells: we will go by the king’s high way, we will not turn to the right hand nor to the left, until we have passed thy borders.
Please let us pass through your land. We will not
cut through any field or
vineyard, or drink water from any well. We will stay on the King’s
Highway; we will not turn to the right or to the left until we have passed through your territory.”
Let me pass through thy land: we will not turn into the fields, or into the vineyards; we will not drink of the waters of the well: but we will go along by the king’s high way, until we be past thy borders.
“Let us pass through your land. We will not
cut through any field or
vineyard, or drink water from any well. We will stay on the King’s
Highway until we have passed through your territory.”
But thus shall ye deal with them; ye shall destroy their altars, and break down their images, and
cut down their groves, and burn their
graven images with fire.
Instead, this is what you are to do to them:
tear down their altars,
smash their sacred pillars,
cut down their Asherah poles, and burn their idols in the fire.
And ye shall overthrow their altars, and break their pillars, and burn their groves with fire; and ye shall
hew down the
graven images of their gods, and destroy the names of them out of that place.
Tear down their altars,
smash their sacred pillars, burn up their Asherah poles,
cut down the idols of their gods, and
wipe out their names from every place.
When the LORD thy God shall
cut off the nations from before thee,
whither thou goest to possess them, and thou succeedest them, and dwellest in their land;
When the LORD your God cuts off before you the nations you are entering to dispossess, and you drive them out and live in their land,
Ye are the children of the LORD your God: ye shall not
cut yourselves, nor make any
baldness between your eyes for the dead.
You are sons of the LORD your God; do not
cut yourselves or
shave your foreheads on behalf of the dead,
When the LORD thy God hath cut off the nations, whose land the LORD thy God giveth thee, and thou succeedest them, and dwellest in their cities, and in their houses;
When the LORD your God has cut off the nations whose land He is giving you, and when you have driven them out and settled in their cities and houses,
As when a man goeth into the wood with his neighbour to
hew wood, and his hand fetcheth a stroke with the
axe to
cut down the tree, and the head slippeth from the
helve, and lighteth upon his neighbour, that he die; he shall
flee unto one of those cities, and live:
If he goes into the forest with his
neighbor to
cut timber and swings his
axe to
chop down a tree, but the
blade flies off the handle and strikes and kills his
neighbor, he may
flee to one of these cities to save his life.
When thou shalt
besiege a city a long time, in making war against it to take it, thou shalt not destroy the trees thereof by forcing an
axe against them: for thou mayest eat of them, and thou shalt not
cut them down (for the tree of the field is man’s life) to employ them in the siege:
When you lay siege to a city for an extended time while fighting against it to capture it, you must not destroy its trees by putting an
axe to them, because you can eat their fruit. You must not
cut them down. Are the trees of the field human, that you should
besiege them?
Only the trees which thou knowest that they be not trees for meat, thou shalt destroy and cut them down; and thou shalt build bulwarks against the city that maketh war with thee, until it be subdued.
But you may destroy the trees that you know do not produce fruit. Use them to build siege works against the city that is
waging war against you, until it falls.
He that is wounded in the stones, or hath his privy member cut off, shall not enter into the congregation of the LORD.
No man with
crushed or severed
genitals may enter the assembly of the LORD.
When thou
cuttest down thine harvest in thy field, and hast
forgot a
sheaf in the field, thou shalt not go again to
fetch it: it shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow: that the LORD thy God may
bless thee in all the work of thine hands.
If you are harvesting in your field and
forget a
sheaf there, do not go back to get it. It is to be left for the foreigner, the fatherless, and the widow, so that the LORD your God may
bless you in all the work of your hands.
Then thou shalt
cut off her hand, thine eye shall not
pity her.
you are to
cut off her hand. You must show her no
pity.
Your little ones, your wives, and thy stranger that is in thy camp, from the
hewer of thy wood unto the drawer of thy water:
your children and wives, and the foreigners in your camps who cut your wood and draw your water—
I said, I would
scatter them into corners, I would make the
remembrance of them to cease from among men:
I would have said that I would
cut them to pieces and
blot out their memory from mankind,
And it shall come to pass, as soon as the soles of the feet of the priests that bear the ark of the LORD, the Lord of all the earth, shall rest in the waters of Jordan, that the waters of Jordan shall be
cut off from the waters that come down from above; and they shall stand upon an
heap.
When the feet of the priests who carry the ark of the LORD—the Lord of all the earth—touch down in the waters of the Jordan, its flowing waters will be
cut off and will stand up in a
heap.”
That the waters which came down from above stood and rose up upon an
heap very far from the city Adam, that is beside Zaretan: and those that came down toward the sea of the plain, even the salt sea, failed, and were
cut off: and the people passed over right against
Jericho.
the flowing water stood still. It backed up as far
upstream as Adam, a city in the area of Zarethan, while the water flowing toward the Sea of the Arabah (the Salt Sea) was completely
cut off. So the people crossed over opposite
Jericho.
Then ye shall answer them, That the waters of Jordan were
cut off before the ark of the covenant of the LORD; when it passed over Jordan, the waters of Jordan were
cut off: and these stones shall be for a
memorial unto the children of Israel for ever.
you are to tell them, ‘The waters of the Jordan were
cut off before the ark of the covenant of the LORD. When it crossed the Jordan, the waters were
cut off.’ Therefore these stones will be a
memorial to the Israelites
forever.”
For the
Canaanites and all the inhabitants of the land shall hear of it, and shall
environ us round, and
cut off our name from the earth: and what
wilt thou do unto thy great name?
When the
Canaanites and all who live in the land hear about this, they will
surround us and
wipe out our name from the earth. Then what will You do for Your great name?”
And at that time came Joshua, and
cut off the Anakims from the mountains, from
Hebron, from Debir, from Anab, and from all the mountains of Judah, and from all the mountains of Israel: Joshua destroyed them utterly with their cities.
At that time Joshua proceeded to
eliminate the
Anakim from the hill country of
Hebron, Debir, and Anab, and from all the hill country of Judah and of Israel. Joshua devoted them to destruction, along with their cities.
And Joshua answered them, If thou be a great people, then get thee up to the wood country, and
cut down for
thyself there in the land of the
Perizzites and of the giants, if mount Ephraim be too narrow for thee.
Joshua answered them, “If you have so many people that the hill country of Ephraim is too small for you, go to the forest and clear for
yourself an area in the land of the
Perizzites and the
Rephaim.”
But the mountain shall be thine; for it is a wood, and thou shalt
cut it down: and the outgoings of it shall be thine: for thou shalt drive out the
Canaanites, though they have iron
chariots, and though they be strong.
because the hill country will be yours as well. It is a forest; clear it, and its
farthest limits will be yours. Although the
Canaanites have iron
chariots and although they are strong, you can drive them out.”
Behold, I have divided unto you by lot these nations that remain, to be an inheritance for your tribes, from Jordan, with all the nations that I have cut off, even unto the great sea westward.
See, I have
allotted as an inheritance to your tribes these remaining nations, including all the nations I have already
cut off, from the Jordan westward to the Great Sea.
But Adoni-bezek fled; and they pursued after him, and caught him, and cut off his thumbs and his great toes.
As Adoni-bezek fled, they pursued him, seized him, and
cut off his thumbs and
big toes.
And Adoni-bezek said,
Threescore and ten kings, having their thumbs and their great toes
cut off, gathered their meat under my table: as I have done, so God hath requited me. And they brought him to Jerusalem, and there he died.
Then Adoni-bezek said, “Seventy kings with their thumbs and
big toes
cut off have gathered the scraps under my table. As I have done to them, so God has repaid me.” And they brought him to Jerusalem, where he died.
And it came to pass the same night, that the LORD said unto him, Take thy father’s young
bullock, even the second
bullock of seven years old, and throw down the altar of
Baal that thy father hath, and
cut down the
grove that is by it:
On that very night the LORD said to
Gideon, “Take your father’s young bull and a second bull seven years old,
tear down your father’s altar to
Baal, and
cut down the Asherah pole beside it.
And build an altar unto the LORD thy God upon the top of this rock, in the ordered place, and take the second
bullock, and offer a burnt sacrifice with the wood of the
grove which thou shalt
cut down.
Then build a proper altar to the LORD your God on the top of this
stronghold. And with the wood of the Asherah pole you
cut down, take the second bull and offer it as a burnt offering.”
And when the men of the city arose early in the morning, behold, the altar of
Baal was cast down, and the
grove was
cut down that was by it, and the second
bullock was offered upon the altar that was built.
When the men of the city got up in the morning, there was
Baal’s altar
torn down, with the Asherah pole
cut down beside it and the second bull offered up on the newly built altar.
Then the men of the city said unto
Joash, Bring out thy son, that he may die: because he hath cast down the altar of
Baal, and because he hath
cut down the
grove that was by it.
Then the men of the city said to
Joash, “Bring out your son. He must die, because he has
torn down
Baal’s altar and
cut down the Asherah pole beside it.”
And
Abimelech gat him up to mount Zalmon, he and all the people that were with him; and
Abimelech took an
axe in his hand, and
cut down a
bough from the trees, and took it, and laid it on his shoulder, and said unto the people that were with him, What ye have seen me do, make
haste, and do as I have done.
he and all his men went up to Mount Zalmon.
Abimelech took his
axe in his hand and
cut a branch from the trees, which he lifted to his shoulder, saying to his men, “
Hurry and do what you have seen me do.”
And all the people likewise
cut down every man his
bough, and followed
Abimelech, and put them to the hold, and set the hold on fire upon them; so that all the men of the tower of
Shechem died also, about a thousand men and women.
So each man also
cut his own branch and followed
Abimelech. Then they piled the branches against the inner chamber and set it on fire above them, killing
everyone in the tower of
Shechem, about a thousand men and women.
That he told her all his heart, and said unto her. There hath not come a
razor upon mine head; for I have been a
Nazarite unto God from my mother’s
womb: if I be
shaven, then my strength will go from me, and I shall become weak, and be like any other man.
Samson told her all that was in his heart: “My hair has never been
cut, because I have been a
Nazirite to God from my mother’s
womb. If I am
shaved, my strength will leave me, and I will become as weak as any other man.”
And when he was come into his house, he took a knife, and laid hold on his
concubine, and divided her, together with her bones, into twelve pieces, and sent her into all the coasts of Israel.
When he reached his house, he
picked up a knife, took hold of his
concubine,
cut her limb by limb into twelve pieces, and sent her throughout the territory of Israel.
And I took my
concubine, and
cut her in pieces, and sent her throughout all the country of the inheritance of Israel: for they have committed
lewdness and folly in Israel.
Then I took my
concubine,
cut her into pieces, and sent her throughout the land of Israel’s inheritance, because they had committed a
lewd and disgraceful act in Israel.
And the children of Benjamin came forth out of Gibeah, and destroyed down to the ground of the Israelites that day twenty and two thousand men.
And the Benjamites came out of Gibeah and cut down 22,000 Israelites on the battlefield that day.
And Benjamin went forth against them out of Gibeah the second day, and destroyed down to the ground of the children of Israel again eighteen thousand men; all these drew the sword.
That same day the Benjamites came out against them from Gibeah and cut down another 18,000 Israelites, all of them armed with swords.
And they turned and fled toward the wilderness unto the rock of
Rimmon: and they
gleaned of them in the
highways five thousand men; and pursued hard after them unto Gidom, and
slew two thousand men of them.
Then the Benjamites turned and fled toward the wilderness to the rock of
Rimmon, and Israel
cut down 5,000 men on the roads. And they overtook them at Gidom and struck down 2,000 more.
And the children of Israel
repented them for Benjamin their brother, and said, There is one tribe
cut off from Israel this day.
And the Israelites
grieved for their brothers, the Benjamites, and said, “
Today a tribe is
cut off from Israel.
Moreover

Moabitess, the wife of Mahlon, have I purchased to be my wife, to raise up the name of the dead upon his inheritance, that the name of the dead be not
cut off from among his brethren, and from the gate of his place: ye are witnesses this day.
Moreover, I have acquired
Ruth the
Moabitess, Mahlon’s widow, as my wife, to raise up the name of the deceased through his inheritance, so that his name will not disappear from among his brothers or from the gate of his home. You are witnesses
today.”
Behold, the days come, that I will cut off thine arm, and the arm of thy father’s house, that there shall not be an old man in thine house.
Behold, the days are coming when I will cut off your strength and the strength of your father’s house, so that no older man will be left in your house.
And the man of thine, whom I shall not
cut off from mine altar, shall be to
consume thine eyes, and to
grieve thine heart: and all the increase of thine house shall die in the flower of their age.
And every one of you that I do not
cut off from My altar, your eyes will fail and your heart will
grieve. All your descendants will die by the sword of men.
And when they arose early on the
morrow morning, behold,
Dagon was fallen upon his face to the ground before the ark of the LORD; and the head of
Dagon and both the palms of his hands were
cut off upon the
threshold; only the
stump of
Dagon was left to him.
But when they got up early the next morning, there was
Dagon, fallen on his face before the ark of the LORD, with his head and his hands broken off and lying on the
threshold. Only the
torso remained.
And he took a yoke of oxen, and
hewed them in pieces, and sent them throughout all the coasts of Israel by the hands of messengers, saying,
Whosoever cometh not forth after Saul and after Samuel, so shall it be done unto his oxen. And the fear of the LORD fell on the people, and they came out with one consent.
He took a pair of oxen,
cut them into pieces, and sent them by messengers throughout the land of Israel,
proclaiming, “This is what will be done to the oxen of
anyone who does not march behind Saul and Samuel.” Then the terror of the LORD fell upon the people, and they turned out as one man.
This day will the LORD deliver thee into mine hand; and I will
smite thee, and take thine head from thee; and I will give the carcases of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.
This day the LORD will deliver you into my hand. This day I will strike you down,
cut off your head, and give the
carcasses of the Philistines to the birds of the air and the creatures of the earth. Then the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel.
Therefore David ran, and stood upon the
Philistine, and took his sword, and drew it out of the
sheath thereof, and
slew him, and
cut off his head
therewith. And when the Philistines saw their
champion was dead, they fled.
David ran and stood over him. He
grabbed the
Philistine’s sword and pulled it from its
sheath and killed him; and he
cut off his head with the sword. When the Philistines saw that their hero was dead, they turned and ran.
But also thou shalt not cut off thy kindness from my house for ever: no, not when the LORD hath cut off the enemies of David every one from the face of the earth.
and do not ever cut off your loving devotion from my household—not even when the LORD cuts off every one of David’s enemies from the face of the earth.”
And the men of David said unto him, Behold the day of which the LORD said unto thee, Behold, I will deliver thine enemy into thine hand, that thou mayest do to him as it shall seem good unto thee. Then David arose, and
cut off the
skirt of Saul’s
robe privily.
So David’s men said to him, “This is the day about which the LORD said to you, ‘Behold, I will deliver your enemy into your hand, that you may do with him as you wish.’” Then David
crept up secretly and
cut off a corner of Saul’s
robe.
