death shall feed on them; and the upright shall have dominion over them in the morning; and their beauty shall
consume in the grave from their dwelling.

shepherd. The upright will rule them in the morning, and their form will decay in
Sheol, far from their lofty abode.

sore pained within me: and the terrors of
death are fallen upon me.
My heart murmurs within me, and the terrors of

hell: for wickedness is in their dwellings, and among them.

Sheol alive, for evil is with them in their homes.
For thou hast delivered my soul from

afflicted and ready to die from my youth up: while I suffer thy terrors I am distracted.

afflicted and near
death. I have borne Your terrors; I am in
despair.

death? shall he deliver his soul from the hand of the grave?

groaning of the prisoner; to loose those that are appointed to
death;

death, being bound in
affliction and iron;

death.

death; her steps take hold on
hell.

death,

madman shooting firebrands and deadly arrows,

ointment; and the day of
death than the day of one’s birth.

perfume, and one’s day of
death is better than his day of birth.
It is better to go to the house of
mourning, than to go to the house of feasting: for that is the end of all men; and the living will lay it to his heart.

mourning than a house of feasting, since
death is the end of every man, and the living should take this to heart.
And I find more bitter than
death the woman, whose heart is snares and nets, and her hands as bands:
whoso pleaseth God shall escape from her; but the
sinner shall be taken by her.
And I find more bitter than
death the woman who is a
snare, whose heart is a net, and whose hands are chains. The man who pleases God escapes her, but the
sinner is ensnared.
There is no man that hath power over the spirit to retain the spirit; neither hath he power in the day of death: and there is no discharge in that war; neither shall wickedness deliver those that are given to it.
As no man has power over the wind to contain it, so no one has authority over his day of death. As no one can be discharged in wartime, so wickedness will not release those who practice it.
Set me as a seal upon thine heart, as a seal upon thine arm: for love is strong as
death; jealousy is cruel as the grave: the coals thereof are coals of fire, which hath a most
vehement flame.
Set me as a seal over your heart, as a seal upon your arm. For love is as strong as
death, its jealousy as
unrelenting as
Sheol. Its sparks are
fiery flames, the fiercest
blaze of all.
The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of
death, upon them hath the light
shined.

death, a light has
dawned.
He will
swallow up
death in victory; and the Lord GOD will
wipe away tears from off all faces; and the
rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the LORD hath spoken it.
He will
swallow up
death forever. The Lord GOD will
wipe away the tears from every face and remove the disgrace of His people from the whole earth. For the LORD has spoken.
Because ye have said, We have made a covenant with
death, and with
hell are we at agreement; when the overflowing
scourge shall pass through, it shall not come unto us: for we have made lies our refuge, and under
falsehood have we
hid ourselves:
For you said, “We have made a covenant with
death; we have fashioned an agreement with
Sheol. When the
overwhelming scourge passes through it will not touch us, because we have made lies our refuge and
falsehood our hiding place.”
And your covenant with
death shall be
disannulled, and your agreement with
hell shall not stand; when the overflowing
scourge shall pass through, then ye shall be
trodden down by it.
Your covenant with
death will be dissolved, and your agreement with
Sheol will not stand. When the
overwhelming scourge passes through, you will be
trampled by it.
In those days was
Hezekiah sick unto
death. And Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz came unto him, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Set thine house in order: for thou shalt die, and not live.
In those days
Hezekiah became
mortally ill. The prophet Isaiah son of Amoz came to him and said, “This is what the LORD says: ‘Put your house in order, for you are about to die; you will not recover.’”
For the grave cannot praise thee,
death can not
celebrate thee: they that go down into the pit cannot hope for thy truth.
For
Sheol cannot
thank You;
Death cannot praise You. Those who descend to the Pit cannot hope for Your faithfulness.
And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his
death; because he had done no violence, neither was any
deceit in his mouth.
He was assigned a grave with the wicked, and with a rich man in His
death, although He had done no violence, nor was any
deceit in His mouth.
Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the
spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto
death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made
intercession for the transgressors.
Therefore I will
allot Him a portion with the great, and He will divide the spoils with the strong, because He has poured out His life unto
death, and He was numbered with the transgressors. Yet He bore the sin of many and made
intercession for the transgressors.
He shall enter into peace: they shall rest in their beds, each one walking in his uprightness.
Those who walk uprightly enter into peace; they find rest, lying down in death.
Neither said they, Where is the LORD that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, that led us through the wilderness, through a land of deserts and of pits, through a land of
drought, and of the shadow of
death, through a land that no man passed through, and where no man dwelt?
They did not ask, ‘Where is the LORD who brought us up from the land of Egypt, who led us through the wilderness, through a land of deserts and pits, a land of
drought and darkness, a land where no one travels and no one lives?’
And
death shall be chosen rather than life by all the residue of them that remain of this evil family, which remain in all the places
whither I have driven them, saith the LORD of hosts.

remnant of this evil family will choose
death over life,” declares the LORD of Hosts.
For death is come up into our windows, and is entered into our palaces, to cut off the children from without, and the young men from the streets.
For
death has
climbed in through our windows; it has entered our fortresses to cut off the children from the streets, the young men from the town squares.
Give glory to the LORD your God, before he cause darkness, and before your feet
stumble upon the dark mountains, and, while ye look for light, he turn it into the shadow of
death, and make it gross darkness.
Give glory to the LORD your God before He brings darkness, before your feet
stumble on the
dusky mountains. You wait for light, but He turns it into deep
gloom and thick darkness.
And it shall come to pass, if they say unto thee,
Whither shall we go forth? then thou shalt tell them, Thus saith the LORD; Such as are for
death, to
death; and such as are for the sword, to the sword; and such as are for the famine, to the famine; and such as are for the captivity, to the captivity.
If they ask you, ‘Where shall we go?’ you are to tell them that this is what the LORD says: ‘Those destined for death, to death; those destined for the sword, to the sword; those destined for famine, to famine; and those destined for captivity, to captivity.’
They shall die of
grievous deaths; they shall not be
lamented; neither shall they be buried; but they shall be as dung upon the face of the earth: and they shall be consumed by the sword, and by famine; and their carcases shall be meat for the fowls of heaven, and for the beasts of the earth.
“They will die from deadly diseases. They will not be
mourned or buried, but will lie like dung on the ground. They will be finished off by sword and famine, and their corpses will become food for the birds of the air and beasts of the earth.”
Therefore deliver up their children to the famine, and pour out their blood by the force of the sword; and let their wives be
bereaved of their children, and be widows; and let their men be put to
death; let their young men be slain by the sword in battle.
Therefore, hand their children over to famine; pour out the power of the sword upon them. Let their wives become childless and widowed; let their husbands be slain by disease, their young men struck down by the sword in battle.
And unto this people thou shalt say, Thus saith the LORD; Behold, I set before you the way of life, and the way of death.
Furthermore, you are to tell this people that this is what the LORD says: ‘Behold, I set before you the way of life and the way of
death.
Then spake the priests and the prophets unto the princes and to all the people, saying, This man is worthy to die; for he hath
prophesied against this city, as ye have heard with your ears.
Then the priests and prophets said to the officials and all the people, “This man is worthy of
death, for he has
prophesied against this city, as you have heard with your own ears!”
But know ye for certain, that if ye put me to
death, ye shall surely bring innocent blood upon
yourselves, and upon this city, and upon the inhabitants thereof: for of a truth the LORD hath sent me unto you to speak all these words in your ears.
But know for certain that if you put me to
death, you will bring innocent blood upon
yourselves, upon this city, and upon its residents; for truly the LORD has sent me to speak all these words in your hearing.”
Then said the princes and all the people unto the priests and to the prophets; This man is not worthy to die: for he hath spoken to us in the name of the LORD our God.
Then the officials and all the people told the priests and prophets, “This man is not worthy of death, for he has spoken to us in the name of the LORD our God!”
Did
Hezekiah king of Judah and all Judah put him at all to
death? did he not fear the LORD, and
besought the LORD, and the LORD
repented him of the evil which he had pronounced against them? Thus might we
procure great evil against our souls.
Did
Hezekiah king of Judah or
anyone else in Judah put him to
death? Did
Hezekiah not fear the LORD and seek His favor, and did not the LORD relent of the
disaster He had pronounced against them? But we are about to bring great
harm on ourselves!”
And when
Jehoiakim the king, with all his mighty men, and all the princes, heard his words, the king sought to put him to
death: but when Urijah heard it, he was afraid, and fled, and went into Egypt;

death. But when Uriah found out about it, he fled in fear and went to Egypt.
Nevertheless the hand of
Ahikam the son of Shaphan was with Jeremiah, that they should not give him into the hand of the people to put him to
death.
Nevertheless,
Ahikam son of Shaphan supported Jeremiah, so he was not handed over to the people to be put to
death.
Therefore the princes said unto the king, We
beseech thee, let this man be put to
death: for thus he weakeneth the hands of the men of war that remain in this city, and the hands of all the people, in speaking such words unto them: for this man seeketh not the
welfare of this people, but the
hurt.
Then the officials said to the king, “This man ought to die, for he is discouraging the warriors who remain in this city, as well as all the people, by speaking such words to them; this man is not seeking the well-being of these people, but their ruin.”
My lord the king, these men have done evil in all that they have done to Jeremiah the prophet, whom they have cast into the
dungeon; and he is like to die for hunger in the place where he is: for there is no more bread in the city.
“My lord the king, these men have acted wickedly in all that they have done to Jeremiah the prophet. They have dropped him into the
cistern, where he will
starve to
death, for there is no more bread in the city.”
Then Jeremiah said unto
Zedekiah, If I declare it unto thee,
wilt thou not surely put me to
death? and if I give thee counsel,
wilt thou not
hearken unto me?
“If I tell you,” Jeremiah replied, “you will surely put me to
death. And even if I give you advice, you will not
listen to me.”
So
Zedekiah the king
sware secretly unto Jeremiah, saying, As the LORD liveth, that made us this soul, I will not put thee to
death, neither will I give thee into the hand of these men that seek thy life.
But King
Zedekiah swore secretly to Jeremiah, “As surely as the LORD lives, who has given us this life, I will not kill you, nor will I deliver you into the hands of these men who are seeking your life.”
But if the princes hear that I have talked with thee, and they come unto thee, and say unto thee, Declare unto us now what thou hast said unto the king, hide it not from us, and we will not put thee to death; also what the king said unto thee:
If the officials hear that I have spoken with you, and they come and demand of you, ‘Tell us what you said to the king and what he said to you; do not hide it from us, or we will kill you,’
But
Baruch the son of Neriah setteth thee on against us, for to deliver us into the hand of the Chaldeans, that they might put us to
death, and carry us away
captives into Babylon.
Rather,
Baruch son of Neriah is
inciting you against us to deliver us into the hands of the Chaldeans, so that they may put us to
death or exile us to Babylon!”
And when he cometh, he shall
smite the land of Egypt, and deliver such as are for
death to
death; and such as are for captivity to captivity; and such as are for the sword to the sword.
He will come and strike down the land of Egypt, bringing death to those destined for death, captivity to those destined for captivity, and the sword to those destined for the sword.
Then he put out the eyes of
Zedekiah; and the king of Babylon bound him in chains, and carried him to Babylon, and put him in prison till the day of his
death.
Then he put out
Zedekiah’s eyes, bound him with bronze
shackles, and took him to Babylon, where he kept him in
custody until his dying day.
And the king of Babylon
smote them, and put them to
death in Riblah in the land of
Hamath. Thus Judah was carried away
captive out of his own land.
There at Riblah in the land of
Hamath, the king of Babylon struck them down and put them to
death. So Judah was taken into exile, away from its own land.
And for his diet, there was a continual diet given him of the king of Babylon, every day a portion until the day of his death, all the days of his life.
And the king of Babylon provided
Jehoiachin a daily portion for the rest of his life, until the day of his
death.
Behold, O LORD; for I am in distress: my
bowels are troubled; mine heart is turned within me; for I have
grievously rebelled: abroad the sword bereaveth, at home there is as
death.
See, O LORD, how distressed I am! I am
churning within; my heart is pounding within me, for I have been most
rebellious. Outside, the sword bereaves; inside, there is
death.
Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? saith the Lord GOD: and not that he should return from his ways, and live?
Do I take any pleasure in the
death of the wicked? declares the Lord GOD. Wouldn’t I
prefer that he turn from his ways and live?
For I have no pleasure in the
death of him that dieth, saith the Lord GOD: wherefore turn
yourselves, and live ye.
For I take no pleasure in
anyone’s
death, declares the Lord GOD. So
repent and live!
They shall bring thee down to the pit, and thou shalt die the deaths of them that are slain in the midst of the seas.
They will bring you down to the Pit, and you will die a violent death in the heart of the seas.
Thou shalt die the
deaths of the
uncircumcised by the hand of strangers: for I have spoken it, saith the Lord GOD.
You will die the
death of the
uncircumcised at the hands of foreigners. For I have spoken, declares the Lord GOD.”
To the end that none of all the trees by the waters
exalt themselves for their height, neither shoot up their top among the thick boughs, neither their trees stand up in their height, all that drink water: for they are all delivered unto
death, to the
nether parts of the earth, in the midst of the children of men, with them that go down to the pit.
This happened so that no other trees by the waters would become great in height and set their tops among the clouds, and no other well-watered trees would reach them in height. For they have all been
consigned to
death, to the depths of the earth, among the mortals who descend to the Pit.’
Say unto them, As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel?
Say to them: ‘As surely as I live, declares the Lord GOD, I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that the wicked should turn from their ways and live. Turn! Turn from your evil ways! For why should you die, O house of Israel?’
And he said unto me, Son of man, the place of my throne, and the place of the soles of my feet, where I will dwell in the midst of the children of Israel for ever, and my holy name, shall the house of Israel no more
defile, neither they, nor their kings, by their
whoredom, nor by the carcases of their kings in their high places.
and He said to me, “Son of man, this is the place of My throne and the place for the soles of My feet, where I will dwell among the Israelites
forever. The house of Israel will never again
defile My holy name—neither they nor their kings—by their
prostitution and by the funeral offerings for their kings at their
deaths.
Therefore I was left alone, and saw this great vision, and there remained no strength in me: for my
comeliness was turned in me into corruption, and I retained no strength.
So I was left alone,
gazing at this great vision. No strength remained in me; my face grew
deathly pale, and I was powerless.
I will
ransom them from the power of the grave; I will
redeem them from
death: O
death, I will be thy plagues; O grave, I will be thy destruction:
repentance shall be
hid from mine eyes.
Seek him that maketh the seven stars and
Orion, and turneth the shadow of
death into the morning, and maketh the day dark with night: that calleth for the waters of the sea, and poureth them out upon the face of the earth: The LORD is his name:
He who made the
Pleiades and
Orion, who turns darkness into
dawn and darkens day into night, who
summons the waters of the sea and pours them over the face of the earth— the LORD is His name—
And God said to
Jonah, Doest thou well to be
angry for the
gourd? And he said, I do well to be
angry, even unto
death.
Then God asked
Jonah, “Have you any right to be
angry about the plant?” “I do,” he replied. “I am
angry enough to die!”
