For thou seest that our sanctuary is laid waste, our altar broken down, our temple destroyed;
For thou hast
afflicted the

hurt the peaceable, thou hast loved liars, and destroyed the dwellings of them that brought forth fruit, and hast cast
down the walls of such as did thee no
harm.
Afterward saw I the same man come down from the mountain, and call unto him another peaceable Multitude.
They shall
smite one upon another, and they shall

belly,
And they shall break down the cities and walls, mountains and hills, trees of the wood, and grass of the meadows, and their corn.

Now when I was come home again, and my wife
Anna was restored unto me, with my son Tobias, in the feast of
Pentecost, which is the holy feast of the seven weeks, there was a good
dinner prepared me, in the which I sat
down to eat.

wept: and after the going
down of the sun I went and made a grave, and buried him.

heal them both, that is, to scale away the whiteness of

selfsame time came
Tobit home, and entered into his house, and Sara the daughter of Raguel came

And
bury me decently, and thy mother with me; but
tarry no longer at Nineve. Remember, my son, how Aman handled Achiacharus that brought him up, how out of light he brought him into darkness, and how he rewarded him again: yet Achiacharus was saved, but the other had his reward: for he went
down into darkness. Manasses gave
alms, and escaped the snares of death which they had set for him: but Aman fell into the
snare, and perished.
Then he went
down into the plain of Damascus in the time of wheat harvest, and burnt up all their fields, and destroyed their flocks and herds, also he

gotten privily under the hill, they bound Achior, and cast him
down, and left him at the foot of the hill, and returned to their lord.

down and worshipped God, and
cried unto God. saying,
Therefore their young children were out of heart, and their women and young men
fainted for
thirst, and fell
down in the streets of the city, and by the passages of the gates, and there was no longer any strength in them.
For now we have no helper: but God hath sold us into their hands, that we should be thrown
down before them with
thirst and great destruction.
Throw
down their strength in thy power, and bring
down their force in thy wrath: for they have purposed to
defile thy sanctuary, and to
pollute the tabernacle where thy glorious name resteth and to cast
down with sword the horn of thy altar.

deceit of my lips the servant with the prince, and the prince with the servant: break

She rose where she had fallen
down, and called her
maid, and went
down into the house in the which she abode in the sabbath days, and in her feast days,

maid with her; and the men of the city looked after her, until she was gone
down the mountain, and till she had passed the valley, and could see her no more.
Thou hast saved thy life, in that thou hast hasted to come down to the presence of our lord: now therefore come to his tent, and some of us shall conduct thee, until they have delivered thee to his hands.
And when
Judith was come before him and his servants they all
marvelled at the beauty of her countenance; and she fell
down upon her face, and did reverence unto him: and his servants took her up.
Now when
Judith came in and sat
down, Holofernes his heart was
ravished with her, and his mind was moved, and he desired greatly her company; for he waited a time to
deceive her, from the day that he had seen her.
Then she came to the
pillar of the bed, which was at Holofernes’ head, and took
down his
fauchion from thence,
And
tumbled his body
down from the bed, and pulled
down the
canopy from the pillars; and
anon after she went forth, and gave Holofernes his head to her
maid;
Now when the men of her city heard her voice, they made
haste to go
down to the gate of their city, and they called the elders of the city.
And so soon as the morning shall appear, and the sun shall come forth upon the earth, take ye every one his weapons, and go forth every
valiant man out of the city, and set ye a captain over them, as though ye would go
down into the field toward the watch of the Assyrians; but go not
down.
Then they called Achior out of the house of Ozias; and when he was come, and saw the head of Holofernes in a man’s hand in the assembly of the people, he fell down on his face, and his spirit failed.

Waken now our lord: for the slaves have been bold to come
down against us to battle, that they may be utterly destroyed.

Then lifting up his countenance that
shone with majesty, he looked very fiercely upon her: and the queen fell
down, and was pale, and
fainted, and bowed herself upon the head of the
maid that went before her.
And as she was speaking, she fell
down for
faintness.
For he shall
rend them, and cast them
down headlong, that they shall be speechless; and he shall
shake them from the foundation; and they shall be utterly laid waste, and be in sorrow; and their
memorial shall perish.
For the corruptible body presseth
down the soul, and the
earthy tabernacle weigheth
down the mind that museth upon many things.
When the ungodly perished, she delivered the righteous man, who fled from the fire which fell down upon the five cities.
When the righteous was sold, she
forsook him not, but delivered him from sin: she went
down with him into the pit,
Yea, and without these might they have fallen
down with one blast, being
persecuted of
vengeance, and scattered abroad through the breath of thy power: but thou hast ordered all things in measure and number and weight.
For the whole world before thee is as a little grain of the balance,
yea, as a drop of the morning
dew that falleth
down upon the earth.
Now a
carpenter that felleth timber, after he hath
sawn down a tree meet for the purpose, and taken off all the bark skilfully round about, and hath wrought it handsomely, and made a vessel thereof fit for the service of man’s life;
For neither might the corner that held them keep them from fear: but noises as of waters falling
down sounded about them, and
sad visions appeared unto them with heavy countenances.
As for the illusions of art magick, they were put
down, and their
vaunting in wisdom was reproved with disgrace.
So then
whosoever there fell
down was straitly kept, shut up in a prison without iron bars,
Or a terrible sound of stones cast
down, or a running that could not be seen of
skipping beasts, or a
roaring voice of most savage wild beasts, or a rebounding
echo from the hollow mountains; these things made them to
swoon for fear.
Thine
Almighty word
leaped down from heaven out of thy royal throne, as a fierce man of war into the midst of a land of destruction,
For when the dead were now fallen down by heaps one upon another, standing between, he stayed the wrath, and parted the way to the living.
Wisdom raineth down skill and knowledge of understanding standing, and exalteth them to honour that hold her fast.
Exalt not
thyself, lest thou fall, and bring dishonour upon thy soul, and so God discover thy secrets, and cast thee
down in the midst of the congregation, because thou camest not in truth to the fear of the Lord, but thy heart is full of
deceit.
Let it not
grieve thee to bow
down thine ear to the poor, and give him a friendly answer with
meekness.
