Wherefore it shall come to pass, that when the Lord hath performed his whole work upon mount
Zion and on Jerusalem, I will
punish the fruit of the
stout heart of the king of Assyria, and the glory of his high looks.
So when the Lord has completed all His work against Mount
Zion and Jerusalem, He will say, “I will
punish the king of Assyria for the fruit of his
arrogant heart and the proud look in his
eyes.
And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the LORD: and he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, neither reprove after the hearing of his ears:
And He will delight in the fear of the LORD. He will not judge by what His eyes see, and He will not decide by what His ears hear,
Their children also shall be
dashed to pieces before their
eyes; their houses shall be
spoiled, and their wives
ravished.
Their infants will be
dashed to pieces before their
eyes, their houses will be
looted, and their wives will be
ravished.
Their bows also shall
dash the young men to pieces; and they shall have no
pity on the fruit of the
womb; their
eye shall not
spare children.
Their bows will
dash young men to pieces; they will have no mercy on the fruit of the
womb; they will not look with
pity on the children.
At that day shall a man look to his Maker, and his eyes shall have respect to the Holy One of Israel.
In that day men will look to their Maker and turn their eyes to the Holy One of Israel.
For the LORD hath poured out upon you the spirit of deep sleep, and hath closed your eyes: the prophets and your rulers, the seers hath he covered.
For the LORD has poured out on you a spirit of deep sleep. He has shut your eyes, O prophets; He has covered your heads, O seers.
And in that day shall the
deaf hear the words of the book, and the
eyes of the blind shall see out of obscurity, and out of darkness.
On that day the
deaf will hear the words of the
scroll, and out of the deep darkness the
eyes of the blind will see.
And though the Lord give you the bread of
adversity, and the water of
affliction, yet shall not thy teachers be removed into a corner any more, but thine
eyes shall see thy teachers:
The Lord will give you the bread of
adversity and the water of
affliction, but your Teacher will no longer hide Himself—with your own
eyes you will see Him.
And the
eyes of them that see shall not be
dim, and the ears of them that hear shall
hearken.
Then the
eyes of those who see will no longer be closed, and the ears of those who hear will
listen.
He that walketh righteously, and speaketh uprightly; he that despiseth the gain of oppressions, that shaketh his hands from holding of bribes, that stoppeth his ears from hearing of blood, and shutteth his eyes from seeing evil;
He who walks righteously and speaks with
sincerity, who refuses gain from
extortion, whose hand never takes a
bribe, who stops his ears against
murderous plots and shuts his
eyes tightly against evil—
Thine eyes shall see the king in his beauty: they shall behold the land that is very far off.
Your
eyes will see the King in His beauty and behold a land that stretches
afar.
Look upon
Zion, the city of our
solemnities: thine
eyes shall see Jerusalem a quiet
habitation, a tabernacle that shall not be taken down; not one of the stakes thereof shall ever be removed, neither shall any of the cords thereof be broken.
Look upon
Zion, the city of our appointed feasts. Your
eyes will see Jerusalem, a peaceful pasture, a tent that does not
wander; its tent pegs will not be pulled up, nor will any of its cords be broken.
Then the
eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the
deaf shall be unstopped.
Then the
eyes of the blind will be opened and the ears of the
deaf unstopped.
Incline thine ear, O LORD, and hear; open thine
eyes, O LORD, and see: and hear all the words of
Sennacherib, which hath sent to reproach the living God.
Incline Your ear, O LORD, and hear; open Your
eyes, O LORD, and see.
Listen to all the words that
Sennacherib has sent to
defy the living God.
Whom hast thou reproached and
blasphemed? and against whom hast thou
exalted thy voice, and lifted up thine
eyes on high? even against the Holy One of Israel.
Whom have you
taunted and
blasphemed? Against whom have you raised your voice and lifted your
eyes in pride? Against the Holy One of Israel!
Lift up your eyes on high, and behold who hath created these things, that bringeth out their host by number: he calleth them all by names by the greatness of his might, for that he is strong in power; not one faileth.
Lift up your
eyes on high: Who created all these? He leads forth the
starry host by number; He calls each one by name. Because of His great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing.
To open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house.
to open the
eyes of the blind, to bring prisoners out of the
dungeon and those sitting in darkness out from the prison house.
Bring forth the blind people that have
eyes, and the
deaf that have ears.
Bring out a people who have
eyes but are blind, and who have ears but are
deaf.
They have not known nor understood: for he hath shut their eyes, that they cannot see; and their hearts, that they cannot understand.
They do not
comprehend or
discern, for He has shut their
eyes so they cannot see and closed their minds so they cannot understand.
And now, saith the LORD that formed me from the
womb to be his servant, to bring Jacob again to him, Though Israel be not gathered, yet shall I be glorious in the
eyes of the LORD, and my God shall be my strength.
And now says the LORD, who formed Me from the
womb to be His Servant, to bring Jacob back to Him, that Israel might be gathered to Him— for I am honored in the sight of the LORD, and My God is My strength—
Lift up thine
eyes round about, and behold: all these gather themselves together, and come to thee. As I live, saith the LORD, thou shalt surely
clothe thee with them all, as with an ornament, and bind them on thee, as a
bride doeth.
Lift up your
eyes and look around. They all gather together; they come to you. As surely as I live,” declares the LORD, “you will wear them all as
jewelry and put them on like a
bride.
Lift up your
eyes to the heavens, and look upon the earth beneath: for the heavens shall
vanish away like smoke, and the earth shall wax old like a garment, and they that dwell therein shall die in like manner: but my salvation shall be for ever, and my righteousness shall not be abolished.
Lift up your
eyes to the heavens, and look at the earth below; for the heavens will
vanish like smoke, the earth will wear out like a garment, and its people will die like gnats. But My salvation will last
forever, and My righteousness will never fail.
Thy
watchmen shall lift up the voice; with the voice together shall they sing: for they shall see
eye to
eye, when the LORD shall bring again
Zion.
Listen! Your
watchmen lift up their voices, together they
shout for joy. For every
eye will see when the LORD returns to
Zion.
The LORD hath made bare his holy arm in the eyes of all the nations; and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God.
The LORD has bared His holy arm in the sight of all the nations; all the ends of the earth will see the salvation of our God.
Like the blind, we feel our way along the wall,
groping like those without
eyes. We
stumble at
midday as in the
twilight; among the vigorous we are like the dead.
Lift up thine
eyes round about, and see: all they gather themselves together, they come to thee: thy sons shall come from far, and thy daughters shall be
nursed at thy side.
Lift up your
eyes and look around: They all gather and come to you; your sons will come from
afar, and your daughters will be carried on the arm.
For since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen, O God, beside thee, what he hath prepared for him that waiteth for him.
From ancient times no one has heard, no ear has perceived, no eye has seen any God besides You, who acts on behalf of those who wait for Him.
Therefore will I number you to the sword, and ye shall all bow down to the slaughter: because when I called, ye did not answer; when I spake, ye did not hear; but did evil before mine eyes, and did choose that wherein I delighted not.
I will
destine you for the sword, and you will all
kneel down to be slaughtered, because I called and you did not answer, I spoke and you did not
listen; you did evil in My sight and chose that in which I did not delight.”
That he who blesseth himself in the earth shall
bless himself in the God of truth; and he that sweareth in the earth shall
swear by the God of truth; because the former troubles are forgotten, and because they are
hid from mine
eyes.
Whoever invokes a blessing in the land will do so by the God of truth, and
whoever takes an oath in the land will
swear by the God of truth. For the former troubles will be forgotten and hidden from My sight.
I also will choose their delusions, and will bring their fears upon them; because when I called, none did answer; when I spake, they did not hear: but they did evil before mine eyes, and chose that in which I delighted not.
So I will choose their punishment and I will bring terror upon them, because I called and no one answered, I spoke and no one
listened. But they did evil in My sight and chose that in which I did not delight.”
Lift up thine
eyes unto the high places, and see where thou hast not been
lien with. In the ways hast thou sat for them, as the Arabian in the wilderness; and thou hast
polluted the land with thy whoredoms and with thy wickedness.
“Lift up your
eyes to the barren heights and see. Is there any place where you have not been
violated? You sat beside the
highways waiting for your lovers, like a
nomad in the desert. You have
defiled the land with your
prostitution and wickedness.
And when thou art
spoiled, what
wilt thou do? Though thou clothest
thyself with
crimson, though thou deckest thee with ornaments of gold, though thou rentest thy face with painting, in vain shalt thou make
thyself fair; thy lovers will
despise thee, they will seek thy life.
O LORD, are not thine
eyes upon the truth? thou hast
stricken them, but they have not
grieved; thou hast consumed them, but they have refused to receive correction: they have made their faces harder than a rock; they have refused to return.
O LORD, do not Your
eyes look for truth? You struck them, but they felt no pain. You finished them off, but they refused to accept discipline. They have made their faces harder than stone and refused to
repent.
Hear now this, O
foolish people, and without understanding; which have
eyes, and see not; which have ears, and hear not:
“Hear this, O
foolish and senseless people, who have
eyes but do not see, who have ears but do not hear.
Is this house, which is called by my name, become a den of robbers in your eyes? Behold, even I have seen it, saith the LORD.
Has this house, which bears My Name, become a den of robbers in your sight?
Yes, I too have seen it, declares the LORD.
Oh that my head were waters, and mine
eyes a fountain of tears, that I might
weep day and night for the slain of the daughter of my people!
Oh, that my head were a spring of water, and my
eyes a fountain of tears! I would
weep day and night over the slain daughter of my people.
And let them make
haste, and take up a
wailing for us, that our
eyes may run down with tears, and our
eyelids gush out with waters.
Let them come quickly and take up a
lament over us, that our
eyes may overflow with tears, and our
eyelids may
gush with water.
But if ye will not hear it, my soul shall
weep in secret places for your pride; and mine
eye shall
weep sore, and run down with tears, because the LORD’S flock is carried away
captive.
But if you do not
listen, I will
weep in secret because of your pride. My
eyes will overflow with tears, because the LORD’s flock has been taken
captive.
Lift up your eyes, and behold them that come from the north: where is the flock that was given thee, thy beautiful flock?
Lift up your eyes and see those coming from the north. Where is the flock entrusted to you, the sheep that were your pride?
And the wild
asses did stand in the high places, they
snuffed up the wind like
dragons; their
eyes did fail, because there was no grass.
Wild
donkeys stand on barren heights; they
pant for air like jackals; their
eyes fail for lack of pasture.”
Therefore thou shalt say this word unto them; Let mine
eyes run down with tears night and day, and let them not cease: for the virgin daughter of my people is broken with a great breach, with a very
grievous blow.
You are to speak this word to them: ‘My
eyes overflow with tears; day and night they do not cease, for the virgin daughter of my people has been
shattered by a
crushing blow, a severely
grievous wound.
For thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will cause to cease out of this place in your
eyes, and in your days, the voice of
mirth, and the voice of
gladness, the voice of the
bridegroom, and the voice of the
bride.
For this is what the LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, says: I am going to remove from this place, before your very
eyes and in your days, the sounds of joy and
gladness, the voices of the
bride and
bridegroom.
For mine
eyes are upon all their ways: they are not
hid from my face, neither is their iniquity
hid from mine
eyes.
For My eyes are on all their ways. They are not hidden from My face, and their guilt is not concealed from My eyes.
For thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will make thee a terror to
thyself, and to all thy friends: and they shall fall by the sword of their enemies, and thine
eyes shall behold it: and I will give all Judah into the hand of the king of Babylon, and he shall carry them
captive into Babylon, and shall
slay them with the sword.
For this is what the LORD says: ‘I will make you a terror to
yourself and to all your friends. They will fall by the sword of their enemies before your very
eyes. And I will hand Judah over to the king of Babylon, and he will carry them away to Babylon and put them to the sword.
But thine
eyes and thine heart are not but for thy
covetousness, and for to shed innocent blood, and for oppression, and for violence, to do it.
“But your
eyes and heart are set on nothing except your own
dishonest gain, on
shedding innocent blood, on practicing
extortion and oppression.”
For I will set mine
eyes upon them for good, and I will bring them again to this land: and I will build them, and not pull them down; and I will plant them, and not
pluck them up.
I will keep My
eyes on them for good and will return them to this land. I will build them up and not
tear them down; I will plant them and not
uproot them.
Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, of
Ahab the son of Kolaiah, and of
Zedekiah the son of Maaseiah, which
prophesy a lie unto you in my name; Behold, I will deliver them into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon; and he shall
slay them before your
eyes;
This is what the LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, says about
Ahab son of Kolaiah and
Zedekiah son of Maaseiah, who are
prophesying to you lies in My name: “I will deliver them to
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and he will kill them before your very
eyes.
Thus saith the LORD;
Refrain thy voice from
weeping, and thine
eyes from tears: for thy work shall be rewarded, saith the LORD; and they shall come again from the land of the enemy.
This is what the LORD says: “Keep your voice from
weeping and your
eyes from tears, for the reward for your work will come, declares the LORD. Then your children will return from the land of the enemy.
And
Zedekiah king of Judah shall not escape out of the hand of the Chaldeans, but shall surely be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon, and shall speak with him mouth to mouth, and his
eyes shall behold his
eyes;
Zedekiah king of Judah will not escape from the hands of the Chaldeans, but he will surely be delivered into the hand of the king of Babylon, and will speak with him face to face and see him
eye to
eye.
Great in counsel, and mighty in work: for thine eyes are open upon all the ways of the sons of men: to give every one according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings:
the One great in counsel and mighty in deed, whose eyes are on all the ways of the sons of men, to reward each one according to his ways and according to the fruit of his deeds.
And thou shalt not escape out of his hand, but shalt surely be taken, and delivered into his hand; and thine eyes shall behold the eyes of the king of Babylon, and he shall speak with thee mouth to mouth, and thou shalt go to Babylon.
And you
yourself will not escape his
grasp, but will surely be captured and delivered into his hand. You will see the king of Babylon
eye to
eye and speak with him face to face; and you will go to Babylon.
Then the king of Babylon
slew the sons of
Zedekiah in Riblah before his
eyes: also the king of Babylon
slew all the nobles of Judah.
There at Riblah the king of Babylon slaughtered the sons of
Zedekiah before his
eyes, and he also killed all the nobles of Judah.
Moreover he put out
Zedekiah’s
eyes, and bound him with chains, to carry him to Babylon.
Then he put out
Zedekiah’s
eyes and bound him with bronze chains to take him to Babylon.
Go and speak to Ebed-melech the
Ethiopian, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will bring my words upon this city for evil, and not for good; and they shall be accomplished in that day before thee.
“Go and tell Ebed-melech the
Cushite that this is what the LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, says: ‘I am about to
fulfill My words against this city for
harm and not for good, and on that day they will be fulfilled before your
eyes.
And said unto Jeremiah the prophet, Let, we
beseech thee, our
supplication be accepted before thee, and pray for us unto the LORD thy God, even for all this
remnant; (for we are left but a few of many, as thine
eyes do behold us:)
Jeremiah the prophet and said, “May our petition come before you; pray to the LORD your God on behalf of this entire
remnant. For few of us remain of the many, as you can see with your own
eyes.
And I will render unto Babylon and to all the inhabitants of
Chaldea all their evil that they have done in
Zion in your sight, saith the LORD.
Before your very
eyes I will repay Babylon and all the dwellers of
Chaldea for all the evil they have done in
Zion,” declares the LORD.
And he did that which was evil in the
eyes of the LORD, according to all that
Jehoiakim had done.
And the king of Babylon
slew the sons of
Zedekiah before his
eyes: he
slew also all the princes of Judah in Riblah.
There at Riblah the king of Babylon slaughtered the sons of
Zedekiah before his
eyes, and he also killed all the officials of Judah.
Then he put out the
eyes of
Zedekiah; and the king of Babylon bound him in chains, and carried him to Babylon, and put him in prison till the day of his death.
Then he put out
Zedekiah’s
eyes, bound him with bronze
shackles, and took him to Babylon, where he kept him in
custody until his dying day.
For these things I
weep; mine
eye, mine
eye runneth down with water, because the comforter that should
relieve my soul is far from me: my children are
desolate, because the enemy prevailed.
For these things I
weep; my
eyes flow with tears. For there is no one nearby to comfort me, no one to revive my soul. My children are destitute because the enemy has prevailed.
He hath bent his bow like an enemy: he stood with his right hand as an
adversary, and
slew all that were pleasant to the
eye in the tabernacle of the daughter of
Zion: he poured out his
fury like fire.
He has bent His bow like an enemy; His right hand is positioned. Like a
foe He has killed all who were pleasing to the
eye; He has poured out His wrath like fire on the tent of the Daughter of
Zion.
Mine
eyes do fail with tears, my
bowels are troubled, my liver is poured upon the earth, for the destruction of the daughter of my people; because the children and the sucklings
swoon in the streets of the city.
My
eyes fail from
weeping; I am
churning within. My heart is poured out in grief over the destruction of the daughter of my people, because children and infants
faint in the streets of the city.
Their heart
cried unto the Lord, O wall of the daughter of
Zion, let tears run down like a river day and night: give
thyself no rest; let not the apple of thine
eye cease.
The hearts of the people cry out to the Lord. O wall of the Daughter of
Zion, let your tears run down like a river day and night. Give
yourself no relief, and your
eyes no rest.
Mine eye runneth down with rivers of water for the destruction of the daughter of my people.
Streams of tears flow from my eyes over the destruction of the daughter of my people.
Mine
eye trickleth down, and ceaseth not, without any
intermission,
Mine eye affecteth mine heart because of all the daughters of my city.
My eyes bring grief to my soul because of all the daughters of my city.
As for us, our eyes as yet failed for our vain help: in our watching we have watched for a nation that could not save us.
All the while our eyes were failing as we looked in vain for help. We watched from our towers for a nation that could not save us.
For this our heart is
faint; for these things our
eyes are
dim.
Because of this, our hearts are
faint; because of these, our
eyes grow
dim—
As for their rings, they were so high that they were
dreadful; and their rings were full of
eyes round about them four.
Their rims were high and
awesome, and all four rims were full of
eyes all around.
Wherefore, as I live, saith the Lord GOD; Surely, because thou hast
defiled my sanctuary with all thy
detestable things, and with all thine abominations, therefore will I also diminish thee; neither shall mine
eye spare, neither will I have any
pity.
Therefore as surely as I live, declares the Lord GOD, because you have
defiled My sanctuary with all your
detestable idols and abominations, I Myself will withdraw My favor; I will not look upon you with
pity, nor will I
spare you.
And they that escape of you shall remember me among the nations
whither they shall be carried
captives, because I am broken with their
whorish heart, which hath departed from me, and with their
eyes, which go a
whoring after their idols: and they shall
lothe themselves for the evils which they have committed in all their abominations.
Then in the nations to which they have been carried
captive, your survivors will remember Me—how I have been
grieved by their
adulterous hearts that turned away from Me, and by their
eyes that
lusted after idols. So they will
loathe themselves for the evil they have done and for all their abominations.
And mine
eye shall not
spare thee, neither will I have
pity: but I will
recompense thy ways upon thee, and thine abominations shall be in the midst of thee: and ye shall know that I am the LORD.
I will not look on you with
pity, nor will I
spare you, but I will
punish you for your ways and for the abominations among you. Then you will know that I am the LORD.’
And mine
eye shall not
spare, neither will I have
pity: I will
recompense thee according to thy ways and thine abominations that are in the midst of thee; and ye shall know that I am the LORD that smiteth.
I will not look on you with
pity, nor will I
spare you, but I will
punish you for your ways and for the abominations among you. Then you will know that it is I, the LORD, who strikes the blow.
Then said he unto me, Son of man, lift up thine eyes now the way toward the north. So I lifted up mine eyes the way toward the north, and behold northward at the gate of the altar this image of jealousy in the entry.
“Son of man,” He said to me, “now lift up your
eyes to the north.” So I lifted up my
eyes to the north, and in the entrance north of the Altar Gate I saw this
idol of jealousy.
Therefore will I also deal in
fury: mine
eye shall not
spare, neither will I have
pity: and though they cry in mine ears with a loud voice, yet will I not hear them.
Therefore I will
respond with wrath. I will not look on them with
pity, nor will I
spare them. Although they
shout loudly in My ears, I will not
listen to them.”
And to the others he said in mine hearing, Go ye after him through the city, and
smite: let not your
eye spare, neither have ye
pity:
And as I
listened, He said to the others, “Follow him through the city and start killing; do not show
pity or
spare anyone!
And as for me also, mine
eye shall not
spare, neither will I have
pity, but I will
recompense their way upon their head.
But as for Me, I will not look on them with
pity, nor will I
spare them. I will bring their deeds down upon their own heads.”
And their whole body, and their backs, and their hands, and their wings, and the wheels, were full of eyes round about, even the wheels that they four had.
Their entire bodies, including their backs, hands, and wings, were full of eyes all around, as were their four wheels.
Son of man, thou dwellest in the midst of a
rebellious house, which have
eyes to see, and see not; they have ears to hear, and hear not: for they are a
rebellious house.
“Son of man, you are living in a
rebellious house. They have
eyes to see but do not see, and ears to hear but do not hear, for they are a
rebellious house.
And the prince that is among them shall bear upon his shoulder in the
twilight, and shall go forth: they shall
dig through the wall to carry out thereby: he shall cover his face, that he see not the ground with his
eyes.
And at
dusk the prince among them will lift his bags to his shoulder and go out. They will
dig through the wall to bring him out. He will cover his face so he cannot see the land.
None
eye pitied thee, to do any of these unto thee, to have
compassion upon thee; but thou
wast cast out in the open field, to the
lothing of thy person, in the day that thou
wast born.
No one cared enough for you to do even one of these things out of
compassion for you. Instead, you were thrown out into the open field, because you were
despised on the day of your birth.
And hath not eaten upon the mountains, neither hath lifted up his
eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, neither hath
defiled his neighbour’s wife, neither hath come near to a
menstruous woman,
He does not eat at the mountain or look to the idols of the house of Israel. He does not
defile his
neighbor’s wife or approach a woman during her period.
He oppresses the poor and
needy; he commits
robbery and does not restore a
pledge. He lifts his
eyes to idols; he commits abominations.
That hath not eaten upon the mountains, neither hath lifted up his
eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, hath not
defiled his neighbour’s wife,
He does not eat at the mountain or look to the idols of the house of Israel. He does not
defile his
neighbor’s wife.
Then said I unto them, Cast ye away every man the abominations of his
eyes, and
defile not
yourselves with the idols of Egypt: I am the LORD your God.
And I said to them: ‘Each of you must throw away the abominations before his
eyes, and you must not
defile yourselves with the idols of Egypt. I am the LORD your God.’
But they rebelled against me, and would not
hearken unto me: they did not every man cast away the abominations of their
eyes, neither did they
forsake the idols of Egypt: then I said, I will pour out my
fury upon them to
accomplish my anger against them in the midst of the land of Egypt.
But they rebelled against Me and refused to
listen. None of them cast away the abominations before their
eyes, and they did not
forsake the idols of Egypt. So I resolved to pour out My wrath upon them and
vent My anger against them in the land of Egypt.
But I wrought for my name’s sake, that it should not be
polluted before the heathen, among whom they were, in whose sight I made myself known unto them, in bringing them forth out of the land of Egypt.
But I acted for the sake of My name, that it should not be
profaned in the
eyes of the nations among whom they were living, in whose sight I had revealed Myself to Israel by bringing them out of the land of Egypt.
But I wrought for my name’s sake, that it should not be
polluted before the heathen, in whose sight I brought them out.
But I acted for the sake of My name, so that it would not be
profaned in the
eyes of the nations in whose sight I had brought them out.
Nevertheless mine
eye spared them from destroying them, neither did I make an end of them in the wilderness.
Yet I looked on them with
pity and did not destroy them or bring them to an end in the wilderness.
Nevertheless I withdrew mine hand, and wrought for my name’s sake, that it should not be
polluted in the sight of the heathen, in whose sight I brought them forth.
But I
withheld My hand and acted for the sake of My name, so that it would not be
profaned in the
eyes of the nations in whose sight I had brought them out.
Because they had not executed my judgments, but had
despised my statutes, and had
polluted my sabbaths, and their
eyes were after their fathers’ idols.
For they did not practice My ordinances, but they rejected My statutes and
profaned My Sabbaths, fixing their
eyes on the idols of their fathers.
Sigh therefore, thou son of man, with the breaking of thy loins; and with bitterness
sigh before their
eyes.
But you, son of man,
groan!
Groan before their
eyes with a broken heart and bitter grief.
And it shall be unto them as a false
divination in their sight, to them that have
sworn oaths: but he will call to
remembrance the iniquity, that they may be taken.
It will seem like a false
omen to the
eyes of those who have
sworn allegiance to him, but it will draw attention to their guilt and take them
captive.
And thou shalt take thine inheritance in
thyself in the sight of the heathen, and thou shalt know that I am the LORD.
And when you have
defiled yourself in the
eyes of the nations, then you will know that I am the LORD.’”
Her priests have
violated my law, and have
profaned mine holy things: they have put no difference between the holy and
profane, neither have they shewed difference between the unclean and the clean, and have
