dove found no place to rest her
foot, and she returned to him in the ark, because the waters were still covering the surface of all the earth. So he reached out his hand and brought her back inside the ark.
For it was little which thou hadst before I came, and it is now increased unto a multitude; and the LORD hath blessed thee since my coming: and now when shall I provide for mine own house also?

no man who has a broken foot or hand,

Turn you, and take your journey, and go to the mount of the
Amorites, and unto all the places
nigh thereunto, in the plain, in the hills, and in the
vale, and in the south, and by the sea side, to the land of the
Canaanites, and unto
Lebanon, unto the great river, the river Euphrates.
Resume your journey and go to the hill country of the
Amorites; go to all the
neighboring peoples in the Arabah, in the hill country, in the
foothills, in the Negev, and along the
seacoast to the land of the
Canaanites and to
Lebanon, as far as the great River Euphrates.
Save
Caleb the son of Jephunneh; he shall see it, and to him will I give the land that he hath
trodden upon, and to his children, because he hath wholly followed the LORD.
except

Meddle not with them; for I will not give you of their land, no, not so much as a
footbreadth; because I have given mount
Seir unto
Esau for a possession.

provoke them, for I will not give you any of their land, not even a
footprint, because I have given Mount
Seir to
Esau as his possession.

raiment waxed not old upon thee, neither did thy
foot swell, these forty years.
Your clothing did not wear out and your feet did not swell during these forty years.
For the land,
whither thou goest in to possess it, is not as the land of Egypt, from whence ye came out, where thou sowedst thy seed, and wateredst it with thy
foot, as a garden of herbs:
For the land that you are entering to possess is not like the land of Egypt, from which you have come, where you
sowed your seed and
irrigated on
foot, like a vegetable garden.
Every place
whereon the soles of your feet shall
tread shall be yours: from the wilderness and
Lebanon, from the river, the river Euphrates, even unto the
uttermost sea shall your coast be.
Every place where the sole of your
foot treads will be yours. Your territory will extend from the wilderness to
Lebanon, and from the Euphrates River to the Western Sea.
There shall no man be able to stand before you: for the LORD your God shall lay the fear of you and the
dread of you upon all the land that ye shall
tread upon, as he hath said unto you.
No man will be able to stand against you; the LORD your God will put the fear and
dread of you upon all the land, wherever you set
foot, as He has promised you.
And thine eye shall not
pity; but life shall go for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand,
foot for
foot.

pity: life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, and
foot for
foot.
Then shall his brother’s wife come unto him in the presence of the elders, and loose his
shoe from off his
foot, and
spit in his face, and shall answer and say, So shall it be done unto that man that will not build up his brother’s house.
his brother’s widow shall go up to him in the presence of the elders, remove his
sandal,
spit in his face, and declare, “This is what is done to the man who will not maintain his brother’s line.”
The LORD shall
smite thee in the knees, and in the legs, with a
sore botch that cannot be
healed, from the sole of thy
foot unto the top of thy head.

afflict you with painful, incurable boils on your knees and thighs, from the soles of your feet to the top of your head.
The tender and delicate woman among you, which would not
adventure to set the sole of her
foot upon the ground for delicateness and tenderness, her eye shall be evil toward the husband of her
bosom, and toward her son, and toward her daughter,
The most gentle and refined woman among you, so gentle and refined she would not
venture to set the sole of her
foot on the ground, will
begrudge the husband she embraces and her son and daughter
And among these nations shalt thou find no ease, neither shall the sole of thy
foot have rest: but the LORD shall give thee there a
trembling heart, and failing of eyes, and sorrow of mind:
Among those nations you will find no
repose, not even a resting place for the sole of your
foot. There the LORD will give you a
trembling heart, failing eyes, and a
despairing soul.
And I have led you forty years in the wilderness: your clothes are not
waxen old upon you, and thy
shoe is not
waxen old upon thy
foot.
For forty years I led you in the wilderness, yet your clothes and
sandals did not wear out.
To me belongeth
vengeance, and recompence; their
foot shall slide in due time: for the day of their
calamity is at hand, and the things that shall come upon them make
haste.

foot will slip; for their day of
disaster is near, and their
doom is coming quickly.”

Every place that the sole of your
foot shall
tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses.

foot will
tread, just as I promised to Moses.
And the captain of the LORD’S host said unto Joshua, Loose thy
shoe from off thy
foot; for the place

And it came to pass, when all the kings which were on this side Jordan, in the hills, and in the valleys, and in all the coasts of the great sea over against
Lebanon, the Hittite, and the Amorite, the
Canaanite, the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite, heard thereof;
So Joshua
smote all the country of the hills, and of the south, and of the
vale, and of the springs, and all their kings: he left none remaining, but utterly destroyed all that breathed, as the LORD God of Israel commanded.
So Joshua conquered the whole region—the hill country, the Negev, the foothills, and the slopes, together with all their kings—leaving no survivors. He devoted to destruction everything that breathed, just as the LORD, the God of Israel, had commanded.
And to the kings that were on the north of the mountains, and of the plains south of Chinneroth, and in the valley, and in the borders of
Dor on the west,
to the kings of the north in the mountains, in the Arabah south of Chinnereth, in the
foothills, and in Naphoth-
dor to the west;
And to the
Canaanite on the east and on the west, and to the Amorite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, and the Jebusite in the mountains, and to the Hivite under
Hermon in the land of Mizpeh.
So Joshua took all that land, the hills, and all the south country, and all the land of
Goshen, and the valley, and the plain, and the mountain of Israel, and the valley of the same;
So Joshua took this entire region: the hill country, all the Negev, all the land of
Goshen, the western
foothills, the Arabah, and the mountains of Israel and their
foothills,
Even from the mount Halak, that goeth up to
Seir, even unto
Baal-
gad in the valley of
Lebanon under mount
Hermon: and all their kings he took, and
smote them, and
slew them.
from Mount Halak, which rises toward
Seir, as far as
Baal-
gad in the Valley of
Lebanon at the
foot of Mount
Hermon. He captured all their kings and struck them down, putting them to death.
In the mountains, and in the valleys, and in the plains, and in the springs, and in the wilderness, and in the south country; the
Hittites, the
Amorites, and the
Canaanites, the
Perizzites, the
Hivites, and the Jebusites:
the hill country, the
foothills, the Arabah, the slopes, the wilderness, and the Negev—the lands of the
Hittites,
Amorites,
Canaanites,
Perizzites,
Hivites, and Jebusites):
And Moses
sware on that day, saying, Surely the land
whereon thy feet have
trodden shall be thine inheritance, and thy children’s for ever, because thou hast wholly followed the LORD my God.
On that day Moses
swore to me, saying, ‘Surely the land on which you have set
foot will be an inheritance to you and your children
forever, because you have wholly followed the LORD my God.’
And in the valley, Eshtaol, and Zoreah, and Ashnah,
These were in the foothills:
And the border came down to the end of the mountain that lieth before the valley of the son of
Hinnom, and which is in the valley of the giants on the north, and descended to the valley of
Hinnom, to the side of Jebusi on the south, and descended to En-rogel,
Then it went down to the
foot of the hill that faces the Valley of
Hinnom at the northern end of the Valley of
Rephaim and ran down the Valley of
Hinnom toward the southern slope of the Jebusites and
downward to En-rogel.
And afterward the children of Judah went down to fight against the
Canaanites, that dwelt in the mountain, and in the south, and in the valley.
Afterward, the men of Judah marched down to fight against the
Canaanites living in the hill country, in the Negev, and in the
foothills.
And the LORD
discomfited Sisera, and all his
chariots, and all his host, with the edge of the sword before
Barak; so that Sisera lighted down off his
chariot, and fled away on his feet.
And in front of him the LORD routed with the sword Sisera, all his charioteers, and all his army. Sisera abandoned his
chariot and fled on
foot.
Howbeit Sisera fled away on his feet to the tent of Jael the wife of
Heber the Kenite: for there was peace between Jabin the king of Hazor and the house of
Heber the Kenite.
Meanwhile, Sisera had fled on
foot to the tent of Jael, the wife of
Heber the Kenite, because there was peace between Jabin king of Hazor and the house of
Heber the Kenite.
And the princes of
Issachar were with
Deborah; even
Issachar, and also
Barak: he was sent on
foot into the valley. For the divisions of
Reuben there were great thoughts of heart.
And the chief of all the people, even of all the tribes of Israel, presented themselves in the assembly of the people of God, four hundred thousand
footmen that drew sword.
The leaders of all the people and all the tribes of Israel presented themselves in the assembly of God’s people: 400,000 men on foot, armed with swords.
And the Philistines fought, and Israel was
smitten, and they fled every man into his tent: and there was a very great slaughter; for there fell of Israel thirty thousand
footmen.
So the Philistines fought, and Israel was defeated, and each man fled to his tent. The slaughter was very great—thirty thousand foot soldiers of Israel fell.
And Saul gathered the people together, and numbered them in Telaim, two hundred thousand
footmen, and ten thousand men of Judah.
So Saul summoned the troops and numbered them at Telaim—200,000 foot soldiers and 10,000 men of Judah.
And the king said unto the
footmen that stood about him, Turn, and
slay the priests of the LORD; because their hand also is with David, and because they knew when he fled, and did not
shew it to me. But the servants of the king would not put forth their hand to fall upon the priests of the LORD.
Then the king ordered the guards at his side, “Turn and kill the priests of the LORD, because they too sided with David. For they knew he was
fleeing, but they did not tell me.” But the king’s servants would not lift a hand to strike the priests of the LORD.
David captured from him a thousand
chariots, seven thousand charioteers, and twenty thousand
foot soldiers, and he
hamstrung all the horses except a hundred he kept for the
chariots.
And when the children of
Ammon saw that they
stank before David, the children of
Ammon sent and
hired the Syrians of Beth-rehob, and the Syrians of Zoba, twenty thousand
footmen, and of king
Maacah a thousand men, and of
Ish-
tob twelve thousand men.
When the
Ammonites realized that they had become a
stench to David, they
hired twenty thousand
Aramean foot soldiers from Beth-rehob and Zoba, as well as a thousand men from the king of
Maacah and twelve thousand men from
Tob.
And the Syrians fled before Israel; and David
slew the men of seven hundred
chariots of the Syrians, and forty thousand
horsemen, and
smote Shobach the captain of their host, who died there.
But the Arameans fled before Israel, and David killed seven hundred charioteers and forty thousand foot soldiers. He also struck down Shobach the commander of their army, who died there.
But in all Israel there was none to be so much praised as
Absalom for his beauty: from the sole of his
foot even to the crown of his head there was no
blemish in him.
Now there was not a man in all Israel as handsome and highly praised as
Absalom. From the sole of his
foot to the top of his head, he did not have a single
flaw.
And there was yet a battle in
Gath, where was a man of great
stature, that had on every hand six fingers, and on every
foot six toes, four and twenty in number; and he also was born to the
giant.
And there was still another battle at
Gath, where there was a man of great
stature with six fingers on each hand and six toes on each
foot—twenty-four in all. He too was descended from Rapha,
And the king made silver to be in Jerusalem as stones, and cedars made he to be as the sycomore trees that are in the
vale, for abundance.
The king made silver as common in Jerusalem as stones, and
cedar as abundant as
sycamore in the
foothills.
And they pitched one over against the other seven days. And so it was, that in the seventh day the battle was joined: and the children of Israel
slew of the Syrians an hundred thousand
footmen in one day.
For seven days the armies camped opposite each other, and on the seventh day the battle
ensued, and the Israelites struck down the Arameans—a hundred thousand
foot soldiers in one day.
But
Elisha sat in his house, and the elders sat with him; and the king sent a man from before him: but
ere the
messenger came to him, he said to the elders, See ye how this son of a murderer hath sent to take away mine head? look, when the
messenger cometh, shut the door, and hold him fast at the door: is not the sound of his master’s feet behind him?
Now
Elisha was sitting in his house, and the elders were sitting with him. The king sent a
messenger ahead, but before he arrived,
Elisha said to the elders, “Do you see how this murderer has sent someone to cut off my head? Look, when the
messenger comes, shut the door to keep him out. Is not the sound of his master’s
footsteps behind him?”
And he said, Throw her down. So they threw her down: and some of her blood was
sprinkled on the wall, and on the horses: and he
trode her under
foot.
“Throw her down!”
yelled Jehu. So they threw her down, and her blood splattered on the wall and on the horses as they
trampled her underfoot.
David captured from him a thousand
chariots, seven thousand charioteers, and twenty thousand
foot soldiers, and he
hamstrung all the horses except a hundred he kept for the
chariots.
But the Syrians fled before Israel; and David
slew of the Syrians seven thousand men which fought in
chariots, and forty thousand
footmen, and killed Shophach the captain of the host.
But the Arameans fled before Israel, and David killed seven thousand of their charioteers and forty thousand foot soldiers. He also killed Shophach the commander of their army.
And yet again there was war at
Gath, where was a man of great
stature, whose fingers and toes were four and twenty, six on each hand, and six on each
foot: and he also was the son of the
giant.
And there was still another battle at
Gath, where there was a man of great
stature with six fingers on each hand and six toes on each
foot—twenty-four in all. He too was descended from Rapha,
And over the olive trees and the sycomore trees that were in the low plains was
Baal-hanan the Gederite: and over the cellars of oil was
Joash:
Baal-hanan the Gederite was in charge of the olive and
sycamore trees in the
foothills.
Joash was in charge of the stores of olive oil.
Then David the king stood up upon his feet, and said, Hear me, my brethren, and my people: As for me, I had in mine heart to build an house of rest for the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and for the
footstool of our God, and had made ready for the building:
Then King David rose to his feet and said, “
Listen to me, my brothers and my people. It was in my heart to build a house as a resting place for the ark of the covenant of the LORD and as a
footstool for our God. I had made preparations to build it,
And the king made silver and gold at Jerusalem as
plenteous as stones, and
cedar trees made he as the sycomore trees that are in the
vale for abundance.
The king made silver and gold as common in Jerusalem as stones, and
cedar as abundant as
sycamore in the
foothills.
And there were six steps to the throne, with a
footstool of gold, which were fastened to the throne, and stays on each side of the sitting place, and two lions standing by the stays:
The throne had six steps, and a
footstool of gold was attached to it. There were armrests on both sides of the seat, with a lion standing beside each armrest.
And the king made silver in Jerusalem as stones, and
cedar trees made he as the sycomore trees that are in the low plains in abundance.
The king made silver as common in Jerusalem as stones, and
cedar as abundant as
sycamore in the
foothills.
Also he built towers in the desert, and
digged many wells: for he had much cattle, both in the low country, and in the plains:
husbandmen also, and vine dressers in the mountains, and in
Carmel: for he loved
husbandry.
Since he had much
livestock in the
foothills and in the plain, he built towers in the desert and
dug many cisterns. And since he was a lover of the soil, he had farmers and vinedressers in the hill country and in the fertile fields.
The Philistines also had invaded the cities of the low country, and of the south of Judah, and had taken Beth-shemesh, and Ajalon, and Gederoth, and Shocho with the villages thereof, and Timnah with the villages thereof, Gimzo also and the villages thereof: and they dwelt there.
The Philistines had also
raided the cities of the
foothills and the Negev of Judah, capturing and occupying Beth-shemesh,
Aijalon, and Gederoth, as well as Soco, Timnah, and Gimzo with their villages.
Neither will I any more remove the
foot of Israel from out of the land which I have appointed for your fathers; so that they will take
heed to do all that I have commanded them, according to the whole law and the statutes and the ordinances by the hand of Moses.
I will never again cause the feet of the Israelites to leave the land that I assigned to your fathers, if only they are careful to do all that I have commanded them through Moses—all the laws, statutes, and judgments.”
So went
Satan forth from the presence of the LORD, and
smote Job with
sore boils from the sole of his
foot unto his crown.
So
Satan went out from the presence of the LORD and
infected Job with terrible boils from the soles of his feet to the crown of his head.
My foot hath held his steps, his way have I kept, and not declined.
My feet have followed in His tracks; I have kept His way without turning aside.
The flood breaketh out from the inhabitant; even the waters forgotten of the foot: they are dried up, they are gone away from men.
Far from human
habitation he cuts a shaft in places forgotten by the
foot of man. Far from men he dangles and sways.
If I have walked with vanity, or if my
foot hath hasted to
deceit;
And forgetteth that the
foot may
crush them, or that the wild beast may break them.
She forgets that a
foot may
crush them, or a wild animal may
trample them.
Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the
scornful.
Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, or set foot on the path of sinners, or sit in the seat of mockers.
The heathen are sunk down in the pit that they made: in the net which they
hid is their own
foot taken.
The nations have fallen into a pit of their making; their feet are caught in the net they have hidden.
Hold up my goings in thy paths, that my footsteps slip not.
My steps have held to Your paths; my feet have not
slipped.
My
foot standeth in an even place: in the congregations will I
bless the LORD.
My feet stand on level ground; in the congregations I will
bless the LORD.
Let not the foot of pride come against me, and let not the hand of the wicked remove me.
Let not the foot of the proud come against me, nor the hand of the wicked drive me away.
For I said, Hear me, lest otherwise they should
rejoice over me: when my
foot slippeth, they
magnify themselves against me.
For I said, “Let them not
gloat over me— those who
taunt me when my
foot slips.”
He brought me up also out of an
horrible pit, out of the
miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings.
He lifted me up from the pit of
despair, out of the
miry clay; He set my feet upon a rock, and made my
footsteps firm.
He turned the sea into dry land: they went through the flood on
foot: there did we
rejoice in him.
He turned the sea into dry land; they passed through the waters on
foot; there we
rejoiced in Him.
That thy
foot may be
dipped in the blood of thine enemies, and the tongue of thy dogs in the same.
that your
foot may be
dipped in the blood of your foes— the tongues of your dogs in the same.”
I sink in deep
mire, where there is no standing: I am come into deep waters, where the floods overflow me.
I have sunk into the
miry depths, where there is no
footing; I have drifted into deep waters, where the flood engulfs me.
Thy way is in the sea, and thy path in the great waters, and thy footsteps are not known.
Your path led through the sea, Your way through the mighty waters, but Your footprints were not to be found.
