found grace in thy sight, and thou hast
magnified thy mercy, which thou hast shewed unto me in saving my life; and I cannot escape to the mountain, lest some evil take me, and I die:

sparing my life. But I cannot run to the mountains; the
disaster will overtake me, and I will die.

found favour in thine eyes,

divination that the LORD has blessed me because of you.”
And
Laban went into Jacob’s tent, and into Leah’s tent, and into the two maidservants’ tents; but he
found them not. Then went he out of Leah’s tent, and entered into
Rachel’s tent.
So
Laban went into Jacob’s tent, then Leah’s tent, and then the tents of the two maidservants, but he
found nothing. Then he left Leah’s tent and entered
Rachel’s tent.
Now
Rachel had taken the images, and put them in the
camel’s furniture, and sat upon them. And
Laban searched all the tent, but
found them not.
Now
Rachel had taken
Laban’s household idols, put them in the saddlebag of her
camel, and was sitting on them. And
Laban searched everything in the tent but
found nothing.

found of all thy household stuff? set it here before my brethren and thy brethren, that they may judge

found favor in your sight, then receive this gift from my hand. For indeed, I have seen your face, and it is like seeing the face of God, since you have received me
favorably.

And Judah said, Let her take it to her, lest we be shamed: behold, I sent this
kid, and thou hast not
found her.
“Let her keep the items,” Judah replied. “Otherwise we will become a
laughingstock. After all, I did send her this young goat, but you could not find her.”

sack, our money in full weight: and we have brought it again in our hand.
But when we came to the place we
lodged for the night, we opened our sacks and, behold, each of us
found his silver in the mouth of his
sack! It was the full amount of our silver, and we have brought it back with us.
Behold, the money, which we
found in our sacks’ mouths, we brought again unto thee out of the land of
Canaan: how then should we
steal out of thy lord’s house silver or gold?
We even brought back to you from the land of
Canaan the silver we
found in the mouths of our sacks. Why would we
steal silver or gold from your master’s house?
With
whomsoever of thy servants it be
found, both let him die, and we also will be my lord’s
bondmen.
If any of your servants is found to have it, he must die, and the rest will become slaves of my lord.”
And he said, Now also let it be according unto your words; he with whom it is
found shall be my servant; and ye shall be
blameless.
“As you say,” replied the
steward. “But only the one who is
found with the cup will be my slave, and the rest of you shall be free of
blame.”
And he searched, and began at the eldest, and left at the youngest: and the cup was
found in Benjamin’s
sack.
The
steward searched, beginning with the oldest and ending with the youngest—and the cup was
found in Benjamin’s
sack.
And Judah said, What shall we say unto my lord? what shall we speak? or how shall we clear ourselves? God hath found out the iniquity of thy servants: behold, we are my lord’s servants, both we, and he also with whom the cup is found.
“What can we say to my lord?” Judah replied. “How can we
plead? How can we
justify ourselves? God has exposed the iniquity of your servants. We are now my lord’s slaves—both we and the one who was
found with the cup.”
And he said, God
forbid that I should do so: but the man in whose hand the cup is
found, he shall be my servant; and as for you, get you up in peace unto your father.
But Joseph replied, “Far be it from me to do this. The man who was found with the cup will be my slave. The rest of you may return to your father in peace.”

nigh that Israel must die: and he called his son Joseph, and said unto him, If now I have
found grace in thy sight, put, I pray thee, thy hand under my
thigh, and deal kindly and truly with me;
bury me not, I pray thee, in Egypt:

found favor in your eyes, put your hand under my
thigh and promise to show me kindness and faithfulness. Do not
bury me in Egypt,
And when the days of his
mourning were past, Joseph spake unto the house of Pharaoh, saying, If now I have
found grace in your eyes, speak, I pray you, in the ears of Pharaoh, saying,

mourning had passed, Joseph said to Pharaoh’s court, “If I have
found favor in your eyes, please tell Pharaoh that
And I will
sever in that day the land of
Goshen, in which my people dwell, that no swarms of
flies shall be there; to the end thou mayest know that I am the LORD in the midst of the earth.
But on that day I will give special treatment to the land of
Goshen, where My people live; no swarms of
flies will be
found there. In this way you will know that I, the LORD, am in the land.
And Pharaoh sent, and, behold, there was not one of the cattle of the Israelites dead. And the heart of Pharaoh was
hardened, and he did not let the people go.
Pharaoh sent officials and
found that none of the
livestock of the Israelites had died. But Pharaoh’s heart was
hardened, and he would not let the people go.
Behold, to
morrow about this time I will cause it to rain a very
grievous hail, such as hath not been in Egypt since the
foundation thereof even until now.
Behold, at this time
tomorrow I will rain down the worst
hail that has ever fallen on Egypt, from the day it was
founded until now.
Send therefore now, and gather thy cattle, and all that thou hast in the field; for upon every man and beast which shall be
found in the field, and shall not be brought home, the
hail shall come down upon them, and they shall die.
So give orders now to shelter your
livestock and everything you have in the field. Every man or beast that remains in the field and is not brought inside will die when the
hail comes down upon them.’”
Seven days shall there be no
leaven found in your houses: for
whosoever eateth that which is
leavened, even that soul shall be cut off from the congregation of Israel, whether he be a stranger, or born in the land.
For seven days there must be no
leaven found in your houses. If
anyone eats something
leavened, that person, whether a foreigner or native of the land, must be cut off from the congregation of Israel.
Unleavened bread shall be eaten seven days; and there shall no
leavened bread be seen with thee, neither shall there be
leaven seen with thee in all thy quarters.
So Moses brought Israel from the Red sea, and they went out into the wilderness of Shur; and they went three days in the wilderness, and found no water.
Then Moses led Israel from the Red Sea, and they went out into the Desert of Shur. For three days they walked in the desert without finding water.
And it came to pass, that there went out some of the people on the seventh day for to gather, and they found none.
Yet on the seventh day some of the people went out to gather, but they did not find anything.
And he that stealeth a man, and selleth him, or if he be found in his hand, he shall surely be put to death.
Whoever kidnaps another man must be put to death, whether he sells him or the man is
found in his possession.
If a
thief be
found breaking up, and be
smitten that he die, there shall no blood be shed for him.
If a
thief is caught breaking in and is beaten to death, no one shall be guilty of
bloodshed.
If the
theft be certainly
found in his hand alive, whether it be ox, or
ass, or sheep; he shall restore double.
If what was
stolen is actually
found alive in his possession—whether ox or
donkey or sheep—he must pay back double.
If a man shall deliver unto his neighbour money or stuff to keep, and it be
stolen out of the man’s house; if the
thief be
found, let him pay double.
If a man gives his
neighbor money or goods for safekeeping and they are
stolen from the
neighbor’s house, the
thief, if caught, must pay back double.
If the
thief be not
found, then the master of the house shall be brought unto the judges, to see whether he have put his hand unto his neighbour’s goods.
If the
thief is not
found, the owner of the house must appear before the judges to determine whether he has taken his
neighbor’s property.
And ye shall be holy men unto me: neither shall ye eat any flesh that is
torn of beasts in the field; ye shall cast it to the dogs.
You are to be My holy people. You must not eat the meat of a
mauled animal
found in the field; you are to throw it to the dogs.
And Moses said unto the LORD, See, thou sayest unto me, Bring up this people: and thou hast not let me know whom thou
wilt send with me. Yet thou hast said, I know thee by name, and thou hast also
found grace in my sight.
Then Moses said to the LORD, “Look, You have been telling me, ‘Lead this people up,’ but You have not let me know whom You will send with me. Yet You have said, ‘I know you by name, and you have found favor in My sight.’
Now therefore, I pray thee, if I have
found grace in thy sight,
shew me now thy way, that I may know thee, that I may find grace in thy sight: and consider that this nation is thy people.
Now if indeed I have found favor in Your sight, please let me know Your ways, that I may know You and find favor in Your sight. Remember that this nation is Your people.”
For wherein shall it be known here that I and thy people have found grace in thy sight? is it not in that thou goest with us? so shall we be separated, I and thy people, from all the people that are upon the face of the earth.
For how then can it be known that Your people and I have found favor in Your sight, unless You go with us? How else will we be distinguished from all the other people on the face of the earth?”
And the LORD said unto Moses, I will do this thing also that thou hast spoken: for thou hast found grace in my sight, and I know thee by name.
So the LORD said to Moses, “I will do this very thing you have asked, for you have found favor in My sight, and I know you by name.”
And he said, If now I have
found grace in thy sight, O Lord, let my Lord, I pray thee, go among us; for it is a stiffnecked people; and
pardon our iniquity and our sin, and take us for thine inheritance.
“O Lord,” he said, “if I have indeed
found favor in Your sight, my Lord, please go with us. Although this is a stiff-necked people,
forgive our iniquity and sin, and take us as Your inheritance.”
And every man, with whom was found blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine linen, and goats’ hair, and red skins of rams, and badgers’ skins, brought them.
Everyone who had blue, purple, or scarlet yarn, or fine linen, goat hair, ram skins
dyed red, or articles of fine leather, brought them.
Every one that did offer an offering of silver and brass brought the LORD’S offering: and every man, with whom was
found shittim wood for any work of the service, brought it.
And all who could present an offering of silver or bronze brought it as a contribution to the LORD. Also,
everyone who had
acacia wood for any part of the service brought it.
Or have
found that which was lost, and lieth concerning it, and sweareth falsely; in any of all these that a man doeth,
sinning therein:
or finds lost property and lies about it and swears falsely, or if he commits any such sin that a man might commit—
Then it shall be, because he hath
sinned, and is guilty, that he shall restore that which he took violently away, or the thing which he hath
deceitfully gotten, or that which was delivered him to keep, or the lost thing which he
found,
once he has
sinned and becomes guilty, he must return what he has
stolen or taken by
extortion, or the deposit entrusted to him, or the lost property he
found,
And the fat of the beast that dieth of itself, and the fat of that which is
torn with beasts, may be used in any other use: but ye shall in no wise eat of it.
The fat of an animal
found dead or
mauled by wild beasts may be used for any other purpose, but you must not eat it.
And every soul that eateth that which died of itself, or that which was
torn with beasts, whether it be one of your own country, or a stranger, he shall both wash his clothes, and
bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the even: then shall he be clean.
And any person, whether native or foreigner, who eats anything
found dead or
mauled by wild beasts must wash his clothes and
bathe with water, and he will be unclean until evening; then he will be clean.
That which dieth of itself, or is
torn with beasts, he shall not eat to
defile himself
therewith: I am the LORD.
He must not eat anything
found dead or
torn by wild animals, which would make him unclean. I am the LORD.
And Moses said unto the LORD, Wherefore hast thou
afflicted thy servant? and wherefore have I not
found favour in thy sight, that thou layest the burden of all this people upon me?
So Moses asked the LORD, “Why have You brought this trouble on Your servant? Why have I not found favor in Your sight, that You have laid upon me the burden of all these people?
And if thou deal thus with me, kill me, I pray thee, out of hand, if I have
found favour in thy sight; and let me not see my
wretchedness.
If this is how You are going to treat me, please kill me right now—if I have
found favor in Your eyes—and let me not see my own
wretchedness.”
And while the children of Israel were in the wilderness, they found a man that gathered sticks upon the sabbath day.
While the Israelites were in the wilderness, a man was found gathering wood on the Sabbath day.
And they that found him gathering sticks brought him unto Moses and Aaron, and unto all the congregation.
Those who found the man gathering wood brought him to Moses, Aaron, and the whole congregation,
Wherefore, said they, if we have found grace in thy sight, let this land be given unto thy servants for a possession, and bring us not over Jordan.
“If we have found favor in your sight,” they said, “let this land be given to your servants as a possession. Do not make us cross the Jordan.”
And there shall be no
leavened bread seen with thee in all thy coast seven days; neither shall there any thing of the flesh, which thou sacrificedst the first day at even, remain all night until the morning.
No
leaven is to be
found in all your land for seven days, and none of the meat you sacrifice in the evening of the first day shall remain until morning.
If there be
found among you, within any of thy gates which the LORD thy God giveth thee, man or woman, that hath wrought wickedness in the sight of the LORD thy God, in
transgressing his covenant,
If a man or woman among you in one of the towns that the LORD your God gives you is
found doing evil in the sight of the LORD your God by
transgressing His covenant
There shall not be
found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth
divination, or an observer of times, or an
enchanter, or a
witch,
Let no one be
found among you who sacrifices his son or daughter in the fire, practices
divination or
conjury, interprets omens, practices
sorcery,
And it shall be, if it make thee answer of peace, and open unto thee, then it shall be, that all the people that is found therein shall be tributaries unto thee, and they shall serve thee.
If they accept your offer of peace and open their gates, all the people there will become forced laborers to serve you.
If one be found slain in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee to possess it, lying in the field, and it be not known who hath slain him:
If one is found slain, lying in a field in the land that the LORD your God is giving you to possess, and it is not known who killed him,
In like manner shalt thou do with his
ass; and so shalt thou do with his
raiment; and with all lost things of thy brother’s, which he hath lost, and thou hast
found, shalt thou do likewise: thou mayest not hide
thyself.
And you shall do the same for his
donkey, his
cloak, or anything your brother has lost and you have
found. You must not
ignore it.
And give occasions of speech against her, and bring up an evil name upon her, and say, I took this woman, and when I came to her, I
found her not a
maid:
and he then accuses her of shameful conduct and gives her a bad name, saying, “I married this woman and had relations with her, but I discovered she was not a virgin.”
And, lo, he hath given occasions of speech against her, saying, I
found not thy daughter a
maid; and yet these are the
tokens of my daughter’s
virginity. And they shall spread the cloth before the elders of the city.
And now he has accused her of shameful conduct, saying, ‘I discovered that your daughter was not a virgin.’ But here is the proof of her
virginity.” And they shall spread out the cloth before the city elders.
If, however, this
accusation is true, and no proof of the young woman’s
virginity can be
found,
If a man be found lying with a woman married to an husband, then they shall both of them die, both the man that lay with the woman, and the woman: so shalt thou put away evil from Israel.
If a man is
found lying with another man’s wife, both the man who
slept with her and the woman must die. You must
purge the evil from Israel.
When he
found her in the field, the
betrothed woman
cried out, but there was no one to save her.
If a man find a
damsel that is a virgin, which is not
betrothed, and lay hold on her, and lie with her, and they be
found;
If a man encounters a virgin who is not
pledged in marriage, and he seizes her and lies with her, and they are discovered,
When a man hath taken a wife, and married her, and it come to pass that she find no favour in his eyes, because he hath
found some uncleanness in her: then let him write her a bill of
divorcement, and give it in her hand, and send her out of his house.
If a man marries a woman, but she becomes displeasing to him because he finds some
indecency in her, he may write her a
certificate of
divorce, hand it to her, and send her away from his house.
If a man be
found stealing any of his brethren of the children of Israel, and maketh
merchandise of him, or selleth him; then that
thief shall die; and thou shalt put evil away from among you.
If a man is caught
kidnapping one of his
Israelite brothers, whether he treats him as a slave or sells him, the
kidnapper must die. So you must
purge the evil from among you.
He
found him in a desert land, and in the waste
howling wilderness; he led him about, he
instructed him, he kept him as the apple of his eye.
He
found him in a desert land, in a barren,
howling wilderness; He surrounded him, He
instructed him, He guarded him as the apple of His eye.
For a fire is
kindled in mine anger, and shall burn unto the lowest
hell, and shall
consume the earth with her increase, and set on fire the
foundations of the mountains.
For a fire has been
kindled by My anger, and it burns to the depths of
Sheol; it consumes the earth and its produce, and scorches the
foundations of the mountains.
Happy art thou, O Israel: who is like unto thee, O people saved by the LORD, the shield of thy help, and who is the sword of thy
excellency! and thine enemies shall be
found liars unto thee; and thou shalt
tread upon their high places.
Blessed are you, O Israel! Who is like you, a people saved by the LORD? He is the shield that protects you, the sword in which you
boast. Your enemies will cower before you, and you shall
trample their high places.”
And they went, and came unto the mountain, and abode there three days, until the pursuers were returned: and the pursuers sought them throughout all the way, but found them not.
So the
spies went out into the hill country and stayed there three days, until their pursuers had returned without finding them, having searched all along the road.
And Joshua
adjured them at that time, saying,
Cursed be the man before the LORD, that riseth up and buildeth this city
Jericho: he shall lay the
foundation thereof in his
firstborn, and in his youngest son shall he set up the gates of it.
At that time Joshua
invoked this solemn oath: “
Cursed before the LORD is the man who rises up and rebuilds this city,
Jericho; at the cost of his
firstborn he will lay its
foundations; at the cost of his youngest he will set up its gates.”
And it was told Joshua, saying, The five kings are
found hid in a cave at Makkedah.
And Joshua was informed: “The five kings have been found; they are hiding in the cave at Makkedah.”
And there they
found Adoni-bezek and fought against him, striking down the
Canaanites and
Perizzites.
When he was gone out, his servants came; and when they saw that, behold, the doors of the parlour were locked, they said, Surely he covereth his feet in his summer chamber.
After Ehud was gone,
Eglon’s servants came in and
found the doors of the upper room locked. “He must be
relieving himself in the cool room,” they said.
They chose new gods; then was war in the gates: was there a shield or
spear seen among forty thousand in Israel?
When they chose new gods, then war came to their gates. Not a shield or
spear was
found among forty thousand in Israel.
And he said unto him, If now I have
found grace in thy sight, then
shew me a sign that thou talkest with me.
Gideon answered, “If I have
found favor in Your sight, give me a sign that it is You speaking with me.
And the men of the city said unto him on the seventh day before the sun went down, What is sweeter than honey? and what is stronger than a lion? And he said unto them, If ye had not
plowed with my
heifer, ye had not
found out my
riddle.
Before
sunset on the seventh day, the men of the city said to
Samson: “What is sweeter than honey? And what is stronger than a lion?” So he said to them: “If you had not
plowed with my
heifer, you would not have
solved my
riddle!”
He
found the fresh
jawbone of a
donkey, reached out his hand and took it, and struck down a thousand men.
