garden eastward in
Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.

garden in
Eden, in the east, where He placed the man He had formed.
And out of the ground made the LORD God to grow every tree that is pleasant to the sight, and good for food; the tree of life also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
Out of the ground the LORD God gave growth to every tree that is pleasing to the eye and good for food. And in the middle of the garden were the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

Eden to water the
garden; and from thence it was parted, and became into four heads.

garden of
Eden to dress it and to keep it.
Then the LORD God took the man and placed him in the
Garden of
Eden to
cultivate and keep it.
And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:
And the LORD God commanded him, “You may eat freely from every tree of the garden,
Now the serpent was more
subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman,
Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the
garden?
Now the serpent was more
crafty than any beast of the field that the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the
garden?’”
And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden:
The woman answered the serpent, “We may eat the fruit of the trees of the garden,
But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
but about the fruit of the tree in the middle of the garden, God has said, ‘You must not eat of it or touch it, or you will die.’”
And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the
garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife
hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the
garden.
Then the man and his wife heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the
garden in the
breeze of the day, and they
hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the
garden.
And he said, I heard thy voice in the
garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I
hid myself.

garden,” he replied, “and I was afraid because I was naked; so I
hid myself.”

Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken.

garden of

Garden of
Eden, along with a
whirling sword of flame to guard the way to the tree of life.
And Lot lifted up his eyes, and
beheld all the plain of Jordan, that it was well watered every where, before the LORD destroyed
Sodom and
Gomorrah, even as the
garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt, as thou comest unto Zoar.
And Lot looked out and saw that the whole plain of the Jordan, all the way to Zoar, was well watered like the
garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt. (This was before the LORD destroyed
Sodom and
Gomorrah.)
As the valleys are they spread forth, as
gardens by the river’s side, as the trees of lign
aloes which the LORD hath planted, and as
cedar trees beside the waters.
They spread out like palm groves, like
gardens beside a stream, like
aloes the LORD has planted, like cedars beside the waters.
For the land,
whither thou goest in to possess it, is not as the land of Egypt, from whence ye came out, where thou sowedst thy seed, and wateredst it with thy foot, as a
garden of herbs:
For the land that you are entering to possess is not like the land of Egypt, from which you have come, where you
sowed your seed and
irrigated on foot, like a vegetable
garden.
And
Ahab spake unto
Naboth, saying, Give me thy
vineyard, that I may have it for a
garden of herbs, because it is near unto my house: and I will give thee for it a better
vineyard than it; or, if it seem good to thee, I will give thee the worth of it in money.
So
Ahab said to
Naboth, “Give me your
vineyard to use as a vegetable
garden, since it is next to my palace. I will give you a better
vineyard in its place—or if you
prefer, I will give you its value in silver.”
But when
Ahaziah the king of Judah saw this, he fled by the way of the
garden house. And
Jehu followed after him, and said,
Smite him also in the
chariot. And they did so at the going up to Gur, which is by Ibleam. And he fled to
Megiddo, and died there.
When King
Ahaziah of Judah saw this, he fled up the road toward Beth-haggan. And
Jehu pursued him,
shouting, “Shoot him too!” So they shot
Ahaziah in his
chariot on the
Ascent of Gur, near Ibleam, and he fled to
Megiddo and died there.
And
Manasseh slept with his fathers, and was buried in the
garden of his own house, in the
garden of Uzza: and Amon his son reigned in his
stead.
And
Manasseh rested with his fathers and was buried in his palace
garden, the
garden of Uzza. And his son Amon reigned in his place.
And he was buried in his tomb in the
garden of Uzza, and his son
Josiah reigned in his place.
And the city was broken up, and all the men of war fled by night by the way of the gate between two walls, which is by the king’s garden: (now the Chaldees were against the city round about:) and the king went the way toward the plain.
Then the city was breached; and though the Chaldeans had surrounded the city, all the men of war fled by night by way of the gate between the two walls near the king’s garden. They headed toward the Arabah,
But the gate of the fountain repaired Shallun the son of
Col-hozeh, the ruler of part of
Mizpah; he built it, and covered it, and set up the doors thereof, the locks thereof, and the bars thereof, and the wall of the
pool of
Siloah by the king’s
garden, and unto the stairs that go down from the city of David.
The Fountain Gate was repaired by Shallun son of
Col-hozeh, ruler of the district of
Mizpah. He rebuilt it, roofed it, and
installed its doors, bolts, and bars. He also repaired the wall of the
Pool of Shelah near the king’s
garden, as far as the stairs that descend from the City of David.
And when these days were
expired, the king made a feast unto all the people that were present in
Shushan the palace, both unto great and small, seven days, in the court of the
garden of the king’s palace;

And the king arising from the
banquet of wine in his wrath went into the palace
garden: and
Haman stood up to make request for his life to
Esther the queen; for he saw that there was evil determined against him by the king.
In his
fury, the king arose from drinking his wine and went to the palace
garden, while
Haman stayed behind to
beg Queen
Esther for his life, for he realized that the king was
planning a terrible fate for him.
Then the king returned out of the palace
garden into the place of the
banquet of wine; and
Haman was fallen upon the bed
whereon Esther was. Then said the king, Will he force the queen also before me in the house? As the word went out of the king’s mouth, they covered
Haman’s face.
Just as the king returned from the palace
garden to the
banquet hall,
Haman was falling on the
couch where
Esther was
reclining. The king
exclaimed, “Would he actually
assault the queen while I am in the palace?” As soon as the words had left the king’s mouth, they covered
Haman’s face.
He is green before the sun, and his branch shooteth forth in his garden.
He is a well-watered plant in the
sunshine, spreading its shoots over the
garden.
I made me gardens and orchards, and I planted trees in them of all kind of fruits:
I made gardens and parks for myself, where I planted all kinds of fruit trees.
A
garden inclosed is my sister, my
spouse; a spring shut up, a fountain sealed.
My sister, my
bride, you are a
garden locked up, a spring enclosed, a fountain sealed.
A fountain of
gardens, a well of living waters, and streams from
Lebanon.
You are a
garden spring, a well of fresh water flowing down from
Lebanon.
Awake, O north wind; and come, thou south; blow upon my
garden, that the spices thereof may flow out. Let my beloved come into his
garden, and eat his pleasant fruits.
Awake, O north wind, and come, O south wind.
Breathe on my
garden and spread the
fragrance of its spices. Let my beloved come into his
garden and taste its choicest fruits.
I am come into my
garden, my sister, my
spouse: I have gathered my
myrrh with my
spice; I have eaten my
honeycomb with my honey; I have
drunk my wine with my milk: eat, O friends; drink,
yea, drink abundantly, O beloved.
I have come to my
garden, my sister, my
bride; I have gathered my
myrrh with my
spice. I have eaten my
honeycomb with my honey; I have
drunk my wine with my milk. Eat, O friends, and drink; drink freely, O beloved.
My beloved is gone down into his
garden, to the beds of spices, to feed in the
gardens, and to gather
lilies.
My beloved has gone down to his
garden, to the beds of spices, to pasture his flock in the
gardens and to gather
lilies.
I went down into the
garden of nuts to see the fruits of the valley, and to see whether the vine flourished, and the pomegranates
budded.
I went down to the
walnut grove to see the blossoms of the valley, to see if the vines were
budding or the pomegranates were in
bloom.
Thou that dwellest in the
gardens, the companions
hearken to thy voice: cause me to hear it.
You who dwell in the
gardens, my companions are
listening for your voice. Let me hear it!
For they shall be
ashamed of the oaks which ye have desired, and ye shall be confounded for the
gardens that ye have chosen.
Surely you will be
ashamed of the sacred oaks in which you have delighted; you will be
embarrassed by the
gardens that you have chosen.
For ye shall be as an oak whose leaf fadeth, and as a garden that hath no water.
For you will become like an oak whose leaves are
withered, like a
garden without water.
For the LORD shall comfort
Zion: he will comfort all her waste places; and he will make her wilderness like
Eden, and her desert like the
garden of the LORD; joy and
gladness shall be found therein,
thanksgiving, and the voice of
melody.
And the LORD shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in
drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered
garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.
The LORD will always guide you; He will satisfy you in a sun-
scorched land and
strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered
garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.
For as the earth bringeth forth her
bud, and as the
garden causeth the things that are sown in it to spring forth; so the Lord GOD will cause righteousness and praise to spring forth before all the nations.
For as the earth brings forth its growth, and as a garden enables seed to spring up, so the Lord GOD will cause righteousness and praise to spring up before all the nations.
A people that provoketh me to anger continually to my face; that sacrificeth in gardens, and burneth incense upon altars of brick;
to a people who continually
provoke Me to My face, sacrificing in the
gardens and burning incense on altars of brick,
They that
sanctify themselves, and
purify themselves in the
gardens behind one tree in the midst, eating
swine’s flesh, and the
abomination, and the
mouse, shall be consumed together, saith the LORD.
“Those who
consecrate and
purify themselves to enter the groves—to follow one in the center of those who eat the flesh of
swine and
vermin and rats—will perish together,” declares the LORD.
Build ye houses, and dwell in them; and plant gardens, and eat the fruit of them;
“Build houses and settle down. Plant gardens and eat their produce.
For therefore he sent unto us in Babylon, saying, This captivity is long: build ye houses, and dwell in them; and plant gardens, and eat the fruit of them.
For he has sent to us in Babylon, claiming: Since the exile will be
lengthy, build houses and settle down; plant
gardens and eat their produce.’”
Therefore they shall come and sing in the height of
Zion, and shall flow together to the goodness of the LORD, for wheat, and for wine, and for oil, and for the young of the flock and of the
herd: and their soul shall be as a watered
garden; and they shall not sorrow any more at all.
They will come and
shout for joy on the heights of
Zion; they will be
radiant over the
bounty of the LORD— the grain, new wine, and oil, and the young of the flocks and herds. Their life will be like a well-watered
garden, and never again will they
languish.
And it came to pass, that when
Zedekiah the king of Judah saw them, and all the men of war, then they fled, and went forth out of the city by night, by the way of the king’s
garden, by the gate
betwixt the two walls: and he went out the way of the plain.
When
Zedekiah king of Judah and all the soldiers saw them, they fled. They left the city at night by way of the king’s
garden, through the gate between the two walls, and they went out along the route to the Arabah.
Then the city was broken up, and all the men of war fled, and went forth out of the city by night by the way of the gate between the two walls, which was by the king’s garden; (now the Chaldeans were by the city round about:) and they went by the way of the plain.
Then the city was breached; and though the Chaldeans had surrounded the city, all the men of war fled the city by night by way of the gate between the two walls near the king’s garden. They headed toward the Arabah,
And he hath violently taken away his tabernacle, as if it were of a
garden: he hath destroyed his places of the assembly: the LORD hath caused the solemn feasts and sabbaths to be forgotten in
Zion, and hath
despised in the
indignation of his anger the king and the priest.
He has laid waste His tabernacle like a
garden booth; He has destroyed His place of meeting. The LORD has made
Zion forget her appointed feasts and Sabbaths. In His fierce anger He has
despised both king and priest.
Thou hast been in
Eden the
garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the
sardius,
topaz, and the
diamond, the
beryl, the
onyx, and the
jasper, the
sapphire, the
emerald, and the
carbuncle, and gold: the
workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou
wast created.
You were in
Eden, the
garden of God. Every kind of precious stone adorned you:
ruby,
topaz, and
diamond,
beryl,
onyx, and
jasper,
sapphire,
turquoise, and
emerald. Your mountings and settings were crafted in gold, prepared on the day of your creation.
The cedars in the
garden of God could not hide him: the
fir trees were not like his boughs, and the
chesnut trees were not like his branches; nor any tree in the
garden of God was like unto him in his beauty.
The cedars in the
garden of God could not rival it; the
cypresses could not compare with its branches, nor the plane trees
match its boughs. No tree in the
garden of God could compare with its beauty.
I have made him fair by the multitude of his branches: so that all the trees of
Eden, that were in the
garden of God,
envied him.
I made it beautiful with its many branches, the
envy of all the trees of
Eden, which were in the
garden of God.’
And I will raise up for them a plant of
renown, and they shall be no more consumed with hunger in the land, neither bear the shame of the heathen any more.
And I will raise up for them a
garden of
renown, and they will no longer be victims of famine in the land or bear the
scorn of the nations.
And they shall say, This land that was
desolate is become like the
garden of
Eden; and the waste and
desolate and ruined cities are become
fenced, and are inhabited.
Then they will say, ‘This land that was
desolate has become like the
garden of
Eden. The cities that were once ruined,
desolate, and destroyed are now fortified and inhabited.’
A fire devoureth before them; and behind them a flame burneth: the land is as the
garden of
Eden before them, and behind them a
desolate wilderness;
yea, and nothing shall escape them.
Before them a fire devours, and behind them a flame scorches. The land before them is like the
Garden of
Eden, but behind them, it is like a desert wasteland— surely nothing will escape them.
I have
smitten you with blasting and
mildew: when your
gardens and your vineyards and your fig trees and your olive trees increased, the
palmerworm devoured them: yet have ye not returned unto me, saith the LORD.
“I struck you with
blight and
mildew in your growing
gardens and vineyards; the
locust devoured your fig and olive trees, yet you did not return to Me,” declares the LORD.
And I will bring again the captivity of my people of Israel, and they shall build the waste cities, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and drink the wine thereof; they shall also make gardens, and eat the fruit of them.
I will restore My people Israel from captivity; they will rebuild and inhabit the ruined cities. They will plant vineyards and drink their wine; they will make gardens and eat their fruit.
Which indeed is the least of all seeds: but when it is grown, it is the greatest among herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the birds of the air come and
lodge in the branches thereof.
Although it is the smallest of all seeds, yet it grows into the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and nest in its branches.”
But when it is sown, it groweth up, and becometh greater than all herbs, and shooteth out great branches; so that the fowls of the air may
lodge under the shadow of it.
But after it is planted, it grows to be the largest of all garden plants and puts forth great branches, so that the birds of the air nest in its shade.”
It is like a grain of
mustard seed, which a man took, and cast into his
garden; and it grew, and waxed a great tree; and the fowls of the air
lodged in the branches of it.
It is like a
mustard seed that a man
tossed into his
garden. It grew and became a tree, and the birds of the air nested in its branches.”
When Jesus had spoken these words, he went forth with his disciples over the
brook Cedron, where was a
garden, into the which he entered, and his disciples.
After Jesus had spoken these words, He went out with His disciples across the Kidron Valley, where they entered a garden.
Judas then, having received a band of men and officers from the chief priests and
Pharisees, cometh thither with lanterns and torches and weapons.
So

Pharisees. They arrived at the
garden carrying lanterns, torches, and weapons.
One of the servants of the high priest, being his
kinsman whose ear Peter cut off, saith, Did not I see thee in the
garden with him?
One of the high priest’s servants, a relative of the man whose ear Peter had cut off, asked, “Didn’t I see you with Him in the garden?”
Now in the place where he was
crucified there was a
garden; and in the
garden a new
sepulchre, wherein was never man yet laid.
Now there was a
garden in the place where Jesus was
crucified, and in the
garden a new tomb in which no one had yet been laid.
Jesus saith unto her, Woman, why weepest thou? whom seekest thou? She, supposing him to be the gardener, saith unto him, Sir, if thou have borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away.
“Woman, why are you
weeping?” Jesus asked. “Whom are you seeking?” Thinking He was the
gardener, she said, “Sir, if you have carried Him off, tell me where you have put Him, and I will get Him.”
I also came out as a
brook from a river, and as a
conduit into a
garden.
I said, I will water my best
garden, and will water abundantly my
garden bed: and, lo, my
brook became a river, and my river became a sea.
The fear of the Lord is a fruitful garden, and covereth him above all glory.

scarecrow in a
garden of cucumbers keepeth nothing: so are their gods of wood, and laid over with silver and gold.

Now when the people departed away at
noon,
Susanna went into her husband’s
garden to walk.
And it fell out, as they watched a fit time, she went in as before with two maids only, and she was
desirous to wash herself in the
garden: for it was hot.
Then she said to her maids, Bring me oil and washing balls, and shut the garden doors, that I may wash me.
And they did as she
bade them, and shut the
garden doors, and went out themselves at privy doors to
fetch the things that she had commanded them: but they saw not the elders, because they were
hid.
Behold, the garden doors are shut, that no man can see us, and we are in love with thee; therefore consent unto us, and lie with us.
Then ran the one, and opened the garden door.
So when the servants of the house heard the cry in the
garden, they
rushed in at the privy door, to see what was done unto her.
And the elders said, As we walked in the garden alone, this woman came in with two maids, and shut the garden doors, and sent the maids away.
Then we that stood in a corner of the garden, seeing this wickedness, ran unto them.
