Moreover from the possession of the Levites, and from the possession of the city, being in the midst of that which is the prince’s, between the border of Judah and the border of Benjamin, shall be for the prince.
So the
Levitical property and the city property will
lie in the center of the area belonging to the prince—the area between the borders of Judah and Benjamin.
He revealeth the deep and secret things: he knoweth what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with him.
He reveals the deep and hidden things; He knows what lies in darkness, and light dwells with Him.
And both these kings’ hearts shall be to do mischief, and they shall speak
lies at one table; but it shall not
prosper: for yet the end shall be at the time appointed.
And the two kings, with their hearts bent on evil, will speak
lies at the same table, but to no
avail, for still the end will come at the appointed time.
And in that day will I make a covenant for them with the beasts of the field, and with the fowls of heaven, and with the
creeping things of the ground: and I will break the bow and the sword and the battle out of the earth, and will make them to
lie down safely.
On that day I will make a covenant for them with the beasts of the field and the birds of the air and the creatures that
crawl on the ground. And I will
abolish bow and sword and weapons of war in the land, and will make them
lie down in safety.
And as troops of robbers wait for a man, so the company of priests murder in the way by consent: for they commit
lewdness.
Like raiders who
lie in
ambush, so does a band of priests; they murder on the way to
Shechem; surely they have committed
atrocities.
They make the king
glad with their wickedness, and the princes with their
lies.
They delight the king with their evil, and the princes with their lies.
For they have made ready their heart like an
oven, whiles they
lie in wait: their
baker sleepeth all the night; in the morning it burneth as a flaming fire.
For they prepare their heart like an
oven while they
lie in wait; all night their anger smolders; in the morning it blazes like a flaming fire.
Woe unto them! for they have fled from me: destruction unto them! because they have
transgressed against me: though I have redeemed them, yet they have spoken
lies against me.
Woe to them, for they have
strayed from Me! Destruction to them, for they have rebelled against Me! Though I would
redeem them, they speak
lies against Me.
The
watchman of Ephraim was with my God: but the prophet is a
snare of a fowler in all his ways, and hatred in the house of his God.
The prophet is Ephraim’s
watchman, along with my God, yet the
snare of the fowler
lies on all his paths. Hostility is in the house of his God!
Ye have
plowed wickedness, ye have
reaped iniquity; ye have eaten the fruit of
lies: because thou
didst trust in thy way, in the multitude of thy mighty men.
You have
plowed wickedness and
reaped injustice; you have eaten the fruit of
lies. Because you have trusted in your own way and in the multitude of your mighty men,
Ephraim compasseth me about with
lies, and the house of Israel with
deceit: but Judah yet ruleth with God, and is faithful with the saints.
Ephraim surrounds Me with
lies, the house of Israel with
deceit; but Judah still walks with God and is faithful to the Holy One.
Ephraim feedeth on wind, and followeth after the east wind: he daily increaseth
lies and
desolation; and they do make a covenant with the Assyrians, and oil is carried into Egypt.
Ephraim chases the wind and pursues the east wind all day long; he multiplies lies and violence; he makes a covenant with Assyria and sends olive oil to Egypt.
Gird yourselves, and
lament, ye priests:
howl, ye ministers of the altar: come,
lie all night in
sackcloth, ye ministers of my God: for the meat offering and the drink offering is
withholden from the house of your God.
Put on
sackcloth and
lament, O priests;
wail, O ministers of the altar. Come,
spend the night in
sackcloth, O ministers of my God, because the grain and drink offerings are
withheld from the house of your God.
The seed is
rotten under their clods, the garners are laid
desolate, the barns are broken down; for the corn is
withered.
The seeds
lie shriveled beneath the clods; the storehouses are in ruins; the
granaries are broken down, for the grain has
withered away.
Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Judah, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have
despised the law of the LORD, and have not kept his commandments, and their
lies caused them to
err, after the which their fathers have walked:
This is what the LORD says: “For three transgressions of Judah, even four, I will not
revoke My judgment, because they
reject the Law of the LORD and fail to keep His statutes; they are led
astray by the
lies in which their fathers walked.
And they lay themselves down upon clothes laid to
pledge by every altar, and they drink the wine of the condemned in the house of their god.
They
lie down beside every altar on garments taken in
pledge. And in the house of their God, they drink wine obtained through fines.
The virgin of Israel is fallen; she shall no more rise: she is
forsaken upon her land; there is none to raise her up.
“Fallen is Virgin Israel, never to rise again. She lies abandoned on her land, with no one to raise her up.”
That
lie upon beds of ivory, and stretch themselves upon their couches, and eat the lambs out of the flock, and the
calves out of the midst of the
stall;
You
lie on beds inlaid with ivory, and
lounge upon your couches. You
dine on lambs from the flock and
calves from the
stall.
Therefore shalt thou give presents to Moresheth-
gath: the houses of
Achzib shall be a
lie to the kings of Israel.
If a man walking in the spirit and
falsehood do
lie, saying, I will
prophesy unto thee of wine and of strong drink; he shall even be the prophet of this people.
If a man of wind were to come and say falsely, “I will
preach to you of wine and strong drink,” he would be just the preacher for this people!
For the rich men thereof are full of violence, and the inhabitants thereof have spoken
lies, and their tongue is
deceitful in their mouth.
For the wealthy of the city are full of violence, and its residents speak
lies; their tongues are
deceitful in their mouths.
The good man is perished out of the earth: and there is none upright among men: they all
lie in wait for blood; they
hunt every man his brother with a net.
The godly man has perished from the earth; there is no one upright among men. They all
lie in wait for blood; they
hunt one another with a net.
Trust ye not in a friend, put ye not confidence in a guide: keep the doors of thy mouth from her that
lieth in thy
bosom.
Do not
rely on a friend; do not trust in a companion. Seal the doors of your mouth from her who
lies in your arms.
Woe to the
bloody city! it is all full of
lies and
robbery; the prey departeth not;
Woe to the city of blood, full of
lies, full of
plunder, never without prey.
For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not
lie: though it
tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not
tarry.
For the vision awaits an appointed time; it testifies of the end and does not lie. Though it lingers, wait for it, since it will surely come and will not delay.
What profiteth the
graven image that the maker thereof hath
graven it; the
molten image, and a teacher of
lies, that the maker of his work trusteth therein, to make
dumb idols?
What use is an
idol, that a
craftsman should
carve it— or an image, a teacher of
lies? For its maker trusts in his own creation; he makes idols that cannot speak.
And the coast shall be for the
remnant of the house of Judah; they shall feed
thereupon: in the houses of Ashkelon shall they
lie down in the evening: for the LORD their God shall visit them, and turn away their captivity.
The coast will belong to the
remnant of the house of Judah; there they will find pasture. They will
lie down in the evening among the houses of Ashkelon, for the LORD their God will attend to them and restore their
captives.
And flocks shall
lie down in the midst of her, all the beasts of the nations: both the
cormorant and the
bittern shall
lodge in the upper lintels of it; their voice shall sing in the windows;
desolation shall be in the thresholds: for he shall uncover the
cedar work.
This is the
rejoicing city that dwelt
carelessly, that said in her heart, I am, and there is none beside me: how is she become a
desolation, a place for beasts to
lie down in! every one that passeth by her shall hiss, and
wag his hand.
This carefree city that dwells securely, that thinks to herself: “I am it, and there is none besides me,” what a ruin she has become, a resting place for beasts.
Everyone who passes by her hisses and shakes his
fist.
The
remnant of Israel shall not do iniquity, nor speak
lies; neither shall a
deceitful tongue be found in their mouth: for they shall feed and
lie down, and none shall make them afraid.
The
remnant of Israel will no longer do wrong or speak
lies, nor will a
deceitful tongue be found in their mouths. But they will feed and
lie down, with no one to make them
tremble.”
Is it time for you, O ye, to dwell in your cieled houses, and this house lie waste?
“Is it a time for you
yourselves to live in your
paneled houses, while this house
lies in ruins?”
Ye looked for much, and, lo, it came to little; and when ye brought it home, I did blow upon it. Why? saith the LORD of hosts. Because of mine house that is waste, and ye run every man unto his own house.
You expected much, but behold, it amounted to little. And what you brought home, I
blew away. Why? declares the LORD of Hosts. Because My house still
lies in ruins, while each of you is
busy with his own house.
For the idols have spoken vanity, and the diviners have seen a
lie, and have told false dreams; they comfort in vain: therefore they went their way as a flock, they were troubled, because there was no
shepherd.
For idols speak
deceit and diviners see illusions; they tell false dreams and offer empty comfort. Therefore the people
wander like sheep,
oppressed for lack of a
shepherd.
And it shall come to pass, that when any shall yet
prophesy, then his father and his mother that
begat him shall say unto him, Thou shalt not live; for thou speakest
lies in the name of the LORD: and his father and his mother that
begat him shall thrust him through when he prophesieth.
And if
anyone still prophesies, his father and mother who bore him will say to him, ‘You shall not remain alive, because you have spoken falsely in the name of the LORD.’ When he prophesies, his father and mother who bore him will
pierce him through.
And now also the
axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is
hewn down, and cast into the fire.
The
axe lies ready at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire.
And
besought him greatly, saying, My little daughter
lieth at the point of death: I pray thee, come and lay thy hands on her, that she may be
healed; and she shall live.
and
pleaded with Him
urgently, “My little daughter is near death. Please come and place Your hands on her, so that she will be
healed and live.”
And now also the
axe is laid unto the root of the trees: every tree therefore which bringeth not forth good fruit is
hewn down, and cast into the fire.
The
axe lies ready at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire.”
When Jesus saw him
lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him,
Wilt thou be made whole?
When Jesus saw him lying there and realized that he had spent a long time in this condition, He asked him, “Do you want to get well?”
Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a
lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a
liar, and the father of it.
You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out his desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, refusing to
uphold the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he
lies, he speaks his native language, because he is a
liar and the father of
lies.
Then cometh Simon Peter following him, and went into the
sepulchre, and
seeth the linen clothes
lie,
Simon Peter arrived just after him. He entered the tomb and saw the linen cloths lying there.
But Peter said,
Ananias, why hath
Satan filled thine heart to
lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land?
Then Peter said, “
Ananias, how is it that
Satan has filled your heart to
lie to the Holy Spirit and
withhold some of the proceeds from the land?
Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not
lied unto men, but unto God.
Did it not belong to you before it was sold? And after it was sold, was it not at your
disposal? How could you conceive such a deed in your heart? You have not
lied to men, but to God!”
They were ware of it, and fled unto
Lystra and Derbe, cities of
Lycaonia, and unto the region that
lieth round about:
they found out about it and fled to the Lycaonian cities of
Lystra and Derbe and to the surrounding region,
But do not thou yield unto them: for there lie in wait for him of them more than forty men, which have bound themselves with an oath, that they will neither eat nor drink till they have killed him: and now are they ready, looking for a promise from thee.
Do not let them
persuade you, because more than forty men are waiting to
ambush him. They have bound themselves with an oath not to eat or drink until they have killed him; they are ready now,
awaiting your consent.”
And because the
haven was not
commodious to winter in, the more part
advised to depart thence also, if by any means they might attain to Phenice, and there to winter; which is an
haven of
Crete, and
lieth toward the south west and north west.
Who changed the truth of God into a
lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the
Creator, who is blessed for ever.
Amen.
They exchanged the truth of God for a
lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the
Creator, who is
forever worthy of praise!
Amen.
For if the truth of God hath more abounded through my
lie unto his glory; why yet am I also judged as a
sinner?
However, if my
falsehood accentuates God’s truthfulness, to the increase of His glory, why am I still condemned as a
sinner?
Destruction and misery are in their ways:
ruin and misery
lie in their
wake,
I say the truth in Christ, I lie not, my conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Ghost,
I speak the truth in Christ; I am not lying, as confirmed by my conscience in the Holy Spirit.
If it be possible, as much as
lieth in you, live
peaceably with all men.
If it is possible on your part, live at peace with
everyone.
The God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which is blessed for
evermore, knoweth that I
lie not.
The God and Father of the Lord Jesus, who is
forever worthy of praise, knows that I am not lying.
Now the things which I write unto you, behold, before God, I lie not.
I
assure you before God that what I am writing to you is no
lie.
Then we will no longer be infants,
tossed about by the waves and carried around by every wind of teaching and by the
clever cunning of men in their
deceitful scheming.
Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;
Do not lie to one another, since you have taken off the old self with its practices,
And for this cause God shall send them strong
delusion, that they should believe a
lie:
For this reason God will send them a powerful
delusion so that they believe the
lie,
Whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ, and
lie not;) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and
verity.
For this reason I was appointed as a preacher, an apostle, and a faithful and true teacher of the Gentiles. I am telling the truth; I am not lying about anything.
Speaking
lies in
hypocrisy; having their conscience
seared with a hot iron;
influenced by the
hypocrisy of liars, whose consciences are
seared with a hot iron.
In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;
in the hope of eternal life, which God, who cannot lie, promised before time began.
That by two
immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to
lie, we might have a strong
consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us:
Thus by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope set before us may be strongly encouraged.
But if ye have bitter
envying and
strife in your hearts, glory not, and
lie not against the truth.
But if you
harbor bitter jealousy and
selfish ambition in your hearts, do not
boast in it or deny the truth.
If we say that we have
fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we
lie, and do not the truth:
If we say we have
fellowship with Him yet walk in the darkness, we
lie and do not practice the truth.
I have not written unto you because ye know not the truth, but because ye know it, and that no lie is of the truth.
I have not written to you because you lack knowledge of the truth, but because you have it, and because no lie comes from the truth.
But the
anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same
anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no
lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall
abide in him.
And as for you, the
anointing you received from Him remains in you, and you do not need
anyone to teach you. But just as His true and genuine
anointing teaches you about all things, so remain in Him as you have been taught.
And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.
We know that we are of God, and that the whole world is under the power of the evil one.
Behold, I will make them of the
synagogue of
Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do
lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee.
Look at those who belong to the
synagogue of
Satan, who claim to be Jews but are liars instead. I will make them come and bow down at your feet, and they will know that I love you.
And the voice which I heard from heaven spake unto me again, and said, Go and take the little book which is open in the hand of the angel which standeth upon the sea and upon the earth.
Then the voice that I had heard from heaven spoke to me again, saying, “Go, take the small
scroll that
lies open in the hand of the angel standing on the sea and on the land.”
And their dead bodies shall
lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called
Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was
crucified.
And in their mouth was found no
guile: for they are without fault before the throne of God.
And no
lie was found in their mouths; they are
blameless.
And the city
lieth foursquare, and the length is as large as the breadth: and he measured the city with the reed, twelve thousand furlongs. The length and the breadth and the height of it are equal.
The city
lies foursquare, with its width the same as its length. And he measured the city with the rod, and all its dimensions were equal—12,000
stadia in length and width and height.
And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither
whatsoever worketh
abomination, or maketh a
lie: but they which are written in the Lamb’s book of life.
But nothing unclean will ever enter it, nor
anyone who practices an
abomination or a
lie, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.
For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and
whosoever loveth and maketh a
lie.
But outside are the dogs, the sorcerers, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters, and
everyone who loves and practices
falsehood.
And to all the governors and captains and
lieutenants that were under him, from India unto
Ethiopia, of an hundred twenty and seven provinces.
And sending forth he called all the princes of Persia and Media, and the governors, and the captains, and the lieutenants, and the chief officers;
So all his people and his armies obey him:
furthermore he
lieth down, he eateth and drinketh, and taketh his rest:
Then
Darius the king stood up, and
kissed him, and wrote letters for him unto all the treasurers and
lieutenants and captains and governors, that they should safely convey on their way both him, and all those that go up with him to build Jerusalem.
He wrote letters also unto the
lieutenants that were in Celosyria and Phenice, and unto them in Libanus, that they should bring
cedar wood from Libanus unto Jerusalem, and that they should build the city with him.
Moreover he wrote for all the Jews that went out of his realm up into
Jewry, concerning their freedom, that no officer, no ruler, no
lieutenant, nor
treasurer, should
forcibly enter into their doors;
Whose land
lieth in clods of pitch and heaps of ashes: even so also will I do unto them that hear me not, saith the
Almighty Lord.
Go into Media my son, for I surely believe those things which
Jonas the prophet spake of Nineve, that it shall be overthrown; and that for a time peace shall rather be in Media; and that our brethren shall
lie scattered in the earth from that good land: and Jerusalem shall be
desolate, and the house of God in it shall be burned, and shall be
desolate for a time;
Behold, we the servants of Nabuchodonosor the great king lie before thee; use us as shall be good in thy sight.
Behold, our houses, and all our places, and all our fields of wheat, and flocks, and herds, and all the lodges of our tents lie before thy face; use them as it pleaseth thee.
Then said Achior, the captain of all the sons of
Ammon, Let my lord now hear a word from the mouth of thy servant, and I will declare unto thee the truth concerning this people, which dwelleth near thee, and inhabiteth the hill countries: and there shall no
lie come out of the mouth of thy servant.
For if we be taken so, all
Judea shall
lie waste, and our sanctuary shall be
spoiled; and he will require the
profanation thereof at our mouth.
Then
Judith said unto him, Receive the words of thy servant, and suffer thine
handmaid to speak in thy presence, and I will declare no
lie to my lord this night.
So she took the head out of the
bag, and shewed it, and said unto them, behold the head of Holofernes, the chief captain of the army of Assur, and behold the
canopy, wherein he did
lie in his
drunkenness; and the Lord hath
smitten him by the hand of a woman.
These slaves have dealt
treacherously; one woman of the Hebrews hath brought shame upon the house of king Nabuchodonosor: for, behold, Holofernes
lieth upon the ground without a head.
Therefore let us
lie in wait for the righteous; because he is not for our turn, and he is clean contrary to our doings: he upbraideth us with our
offending the law, and objecteth to our
infamy the transgressings of our education.
Be not called a
whisperer, and
lie not in wait with thy tongue: for a foul shame is upon the
thief, and an evil
condemnation upon the double tongue.
She will
lie upon him as a mighty stone of trial; and he will cast her from him
ere it be long.
Devise not a
lie against thy brother; neither do the like to thy friend.
Use not to make any manner of lie: for the custom thereof is not good.
Rise not up in anger at the presence of an injurious person, lest he
lie in wait to
entrap thee in thy words
For he
lieth in wait, and turneth good into evil, and in things worthy praise will lay
blame upon thee.
Go after her as one that traceth, and lie in wait in her ways.
Be not made a
beggar by
banqueting upon
borrowing, when thou hast nothing in thy
purse: for thou shalt
lie in wait for thine own life, and be talked on.
A
lie is a foul
blot in a man, yet it is continually in the mouth of the untaught.
A
thief is better than a man that is accustomed to
lie: but they both shall have destruction to
heritage.
