Upon a lofty and high mountain hast thou set thy bed: even thither wentest thou up to offer sacrifice.
On a high and lofty hill you have made your bed, and there you went up to offer sacrifices.
When thou criest, let thy companies deliver thee; but the wind shall carry them all away; vanity shall take them: but he that putteth his trust in me shall possess the land, and shall
inherit my holy
mountain;
When you cry out, let your companies of idols deliver you! Yet the wind will carry off all of them, a breath will take them away. But he who seeks refuge in Me will
inherit the land and possess My holy
mountain.”
Oh that thou wouldest
rend the heavens, that thou wouldest come down, that the
mountains might flow down at thy presence,
If only You would
rend the heavens and come down, so that
mountains would
quake at Your presence,
When thou
didst terrible things which we looked not for, thou camest down, the
mountains flowed down at thy presence.
When You did
awesome works that we did not expect, You came down, and the
mountains trembled at Your presence.
Your
iniquities, and the
iniquities of your fathers together, saith the LORD, which have burned incense upon the
mountains, and
blasphemed me upon the hills: therefore will I measure their former work into their
bosom.
both for your
iniquities and for those of your fathers,” says the LORD. “Because they burned incense on the
mountains and
scorned Me on the hills, I will measure into their laps full payment for their former deeds.”
And I will bring forth a seed out of Jacob, and out of Judah an
inheritor of my
mountains: and mine
elect shall
inherit it, and my servants shall dwell there.
And I will bring forth descendants from Jacob, and heirs from Judah; My
elect will possess My
mountains, and My servants will dwell there.
But ye are they that
forsake the LORD, that
forget my holy
mountain, that prepare a table for that
troop, and that furnish the drink offering unto that number.
But you who
forsake the LORD, who
forget My holy
mountain, who set a table for Fortune and fill
bowls of mixed wine for
Destiny,
The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, and the lion shall eat straw like the
bullock: and dust shall be the serpent’s meat. They shall not
hurt nor destroy in all my holy
mountain, saith the LORD.
The wolf and the lamb will feed together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox, but the food of the serpent will be dust. They will neither
harm nor destroy on all My holy
mountain,” says the LORD.
And they shall bring all your brethren for an offering unto the LORD out of all nations upon horses, and in
chariots, and in litters, and upon mules, and upon swift beasts, to my holy
mountain Jerusalem, saith the LORD, as the children of Israel bring an offering in a clean vessel into the house of the LORD.
And they will bring all your brothers from all the nations as a gift to the LORD on horses and
chariots and wagons, on mules and camels, to My holy
mountain Jerusalem,” says the LORD, “just as the Israelites bring an offering in a clean vessel to the house of the LORD.”
The LORD said also unto me in the days of
Josiah the king, Hast thou seen that which
backsliding Israel hath done? she is gone up upon every high
mountain and under every green tree, and there hath played the
harlot.
Now in the days of King
Josiah, the LORD said to me, “Have you seen what faithless Israel has done? She has gone up on every high hill and under every green tree to
prostitute herself there.
Truly in vain is salvation hoped for from the hills, and from the multitude of mountains: truly in the LORD our God is the salvation of Israel.
Surely
deception comes from the hills, and
commotion from the
mountains. Surely the salvation of Israel is in the LORD our God.
For a voice declareth from
Dan, and publisheth
affliction from
mount Ephraim.
I
beheld the
mountains, and, lo, they
trembled, and all the hills moved lightly.
I looked at the
mountains, and behold, they were
quaking; all the hills were
swaying.
For thus hath the LORD of hosts said,
Hew ye down trees, and cast a
mount against Jerusalem: this is the city to be visited; she is wholly oppression in the midst of her.
For this is what the LORD of Hosts says: “Cut down the trees and raise a siege
ramp against Jerusalem. This city must be punished; there is nothing but oppression in her midst.
For the
mountains will I take up a
weeping and
wailing, and for the habitations of the wilderness a
lamentation, because they are burned up, so that none can pass through them; neither can men hear the voice of the cattle; both the fowl of the heavens and the beast are fled; they are gone.
I will take up a
weeping and
wailing for the
mountains, a
dirge over the wilderness pasture, for they have been
scorched so no one passes through, and the lowing of cattle is not heard. Both the birds of the air and the beasts have fled; they have gone away.
Give glory to the LORD your God, before he cause darkness, and before your feet
stumble upon the dark
mountains, and, while ye look for light, he turn it into the shadow of death, and make it gross darkness.
Give glory to the LORD your God before He brings darkness, before your feet
stumble on the
dusky mountains. You wait for light, but He turns it into deep
gloom and thick darkness.
Behold, I will send for many fishers, saith the LORD, and they shall fish them; and after will I send for many hunters, and they shall
hunt them from every
mountain, and from every hill, and out of the holes of the rocks.
But for now I will send for many
fishermen, declares the LORD, and they will catch them. After that I will send for many hunters, and they will
hunt them down on every
mountain and hill, even from the clefts of the rocks.
O my
mountain in the field, I will give thy substance and all thy treasures to the
spoil, and thy high places for sin, throughout all thy borders.
O My
mountain in the
countryside, I will give over your wealth and all your treasures as
plunder, because of the sin of your high places, within all your borders.
And they shall come from the cities of Judah, and from the places about Jerusalem, and from the land of Benjamin, and from the plain, and from the mountains, and from the south, bringing burnt offerings, and sacrifices, and meat offerings, and incense, and bringing sacrifices of praise, unto the house of the LORD.
And people will come from the cities of Judah and the places around Jerusalem, from the land of Benjamin, and from the foothills, the hill country, and the Negev, bringing burnt offerings and sacrifices, grain offerings and
frankincense, and
thank offerings to the house of the LORD.
Micah the Morasthite
prophesied in the days of
Hezekiah king of Judah, and spake to all the people of Judah, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts;
Zion shall be
plowed like a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps, and the
mountain of the house as the high places of a forest.
“
Micah the Moreshite
prophesied in the days of
Hezekiah king of Judah and told all the people of Judah that this is what the LORD of Hosts says: ‘
Zion will be
plowed like a field, Jerusalem will become a
heap of
rubble, and the temple
mount a wooded ridge.’
Thou shalt yet plant vines upon the mountains of Samaria: the planters shall plant, and shall eat them as common things.
Again you will plant vineyards on the hills of Samaria; the farmers will plant and enjoy the fruit.
For there shall be a day, that the
watchmen upon the
mount Ephraim shall cry, Arise ye, and let us go up to
Zion unto the LORD our God.
For there will be a day when
watchmen will call out on the hills of Ephraim, ‘Arise, let us go up to
Zion, to the LORD our God!’”
Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; As yet they shall use this speech in the land of Judah and in the cities thereof, when I shall bring again their captivity; The LORD
bless thee, O
habitation of justice, and
mountain of
holiness.
This is what the LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, says: “When I restore them from captivity, they will once again speak this word in the land of Judah and in its cities: ‘May the LORD
bless you, O righteous dwelling place, O holy
mountain.’
Behold the
mounts, they are come unto the city to take it; and the city is given into the hand of the Chaldeans, that fight against it, because of the sword, and of the famine, and of the
pestilence: and what thou hast spoken is come to pass; and, behold, thou seest it.
See how the siege ramps are mounted against the city to capture it. And by sword and famine and plague, the city has been given into the hands of the Chaldeans who are fighting against it. What You have spoken has happened, as You now see!
Men shall
buy fields for money, and
subscribe evidences, and seal them, and take witnesses in the land of Benjamin, and in the places about Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah, and in the cities of the
mountains, and in the cities of the valley, and in the cities of the south: for I will cause their captivity to return, saith the LORD.
Fields will be purchased with silver, and deeds will be signed, sealed, and witnessed in the land of Benjamin, in the areas surrounding Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah—the cities of the hill country, the foothills, and the Negev—because I will restore them from captivity, declares the LORD.”
For thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel, concerning the houses of this city, and concerning the houses of the kings of Judah, which are thrown down by the mounts, and by the sword;
For this is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says about the houses of this city and the palaces of the kings of Judah that have been
torn down for
defense against the siege ramps and the sword:
In the cities of the
mountains, in the cities of the
vale, and in the cities of the south, and in the land of Benjamin, and in the places about Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah, shall the flocks pass again under the hands of him that telleth them, saith the LORD.
In the cities of the hill country, the foothills, and the Negev, in the land of Benjamin and the cities surrounding Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah, the flocks will again pass under the hands of the one who counts them, says the LORD.
Harness the horses; and get up, ye
horsemen, and stand forth with your helmets;
furbish the spears, and put on the brigandines.
Harness the horses;
mount the steeds; take your positions with helmets on! Polish your spears; put on
armor!
As I live, saith the King, whose name is the LORD of hosts, Surely as
Tabor is among the
mountains, and as
Carmel by the sea, so shall he come.
As surely as I live, declares the King, whose name is the LORD of Hosts, there will come one who is like
Tabor among the
mountains and like
Carmel by the sea.
Thy terribleness hath
deceived thee, and the pride of thine heart, O thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, that holdest the height of the hill: though thou shouldest make thy nest as high as the eagle, I will bring thee down from thence, saith the LORD.
The terror you cause and the pride of your heart have
deceived you, O dwellers in the clefts of the rocks, O occupiers of the
mountain summit. Though you
elevate your nest like the eagle, even from there I will bring you down,” declares the LORD.
My people hath been lost sheep: their
shepherds have caused them to go
astray, they have turned them away on the
mountains: they have gone from
mountain to hill, they have forgotten their restingplace.
My people are lost sheep; their
shepherds have led them
astray, causing them to
roam the
mountains. They have
wandered from
mountain to hill; they have forgotten their resting place.
And I will bring Israel again to his
habitation, and he shall feed on
Carmel and
Bashan, and his soul shall be satisfied upon
mount Ephraim and
Gilead.
I will return Israel to his pasture, and he will
graze on
Carmel and
Bashan; his soul will be satisfied on the hills of Ephraim and
Gilead.
Come against her from the utmost border, open her storehouses: cast her up as heaps, and destroy her utterly: let nothing of her be left.
Come against her from the
farthest border. Break open her
granaries; pile her up like
mounds of grain.
Devote her to destruction; leave her no survivors.
Behold, I am against thee, O destroying mountain, saith the LORD, which destroyest all the earth: and I will stretch out mine hand upon thee, and roll thee down from the rocks, and will make thee a burnt mountain.
“Behold, I am against you, O destroying
mountain, you who
devastate the whole earth, declares the LORD. I will stretch out My hand against you; I will roll you over the cliffs and turn you into a
charred mountain.
Though Babylon should
mount up to heaven, and though she should
fortify the height of her strength, yet from me shall spoilers come unto her, saith the LORD.
Even if Babylon ascends to the heavens and fortifies her lofty
stronghold, the destroyers I send will come against her,” declares the LORD.
Our persecutors are swifter than the eagles of the heaven: they pursued us upon the mountains, they laid wait for us in the wilderness.
Those who
chased us were swifter than the eagles in the sky; they pursued us over the
mountains and
ambushed us in the wilderness.
Because of the
mountain of
Zion, which is
desolate, the foxes walk upon it.
And lay siege against it, and build a fort against it, and cast a
mount against it; set the camp also against it, and set
battering rams against it round about.
Then lay siege against it: Construct a siege wall, build a
ramp to it, set up camps against it, and place
battering rams around it on all sides.
Son of man, set thy face toward the
mountains of Israel, and
prophesy against them,
“Son of man, set your face against the
mountains of Israel and
prophesy against them.
And say, Ye mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord GOD; Thus saith the Lord GOD to the mountains, and to the hills, to the rivers, and to the valleys; Behold, I, even I, will bring a sword upon you, and I will destroy your high places.
You are to say: ‘O mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord GOD! This is what the Lord GOD says to the mountains and hills, to the ravines and valleys: I am about to bring a sword against you, and I will destroy your high places.
Then shall ye know that I am the LORD, when their slain men shall be among their idols round about their altars, upon every high hill, in all the tops of the mountains, and under every green tree, and under every thick oak, the place where they did offer sweet savour to all their idols.
Then you will know that I am the LORD, when their slain lie among their idols around their altars, on every high hill, on all the
mountaintops, and under every green tree and
leafy oak—the places where they offered
fragrant incense to all their idols.
The morning is come unto thee, O thou that dwellest in the land: the time is come, the day of trouble is near, and not the sounding again of the mountains.
Doom has come to you, O inhabitants of the land. The time has come; the day is near; there is
panic on the
mountains instead of shouts of joy.
But they that escape of them shall escape, and shall be on the
mountains like doves of the valleys, all of them
mourning, every one for his iniquity.
The survivors will escape and live in the
mountains,
moaning like doves of the valley, each for his own iniquity.
And when the cherubims went, the wheels went by them: and when the cherubims lifted up their wings to mount up from the earth, the same wheels also turned not from beside them.
When the
cherubim moved, the wheels moved beside them, and even when they spread their wings to rise from the ground, the wheels did not
veer away from their side.
And the cherubims lifted up their wings, and mounted up from the earth in my sight: when they went out, the wheels also were beside them, and every one stood at the door of the east gate of the LORD’S house; and the glory of the God of Israel was over them above.
As I watched, the
cherubim lifted their wings and rose up from the ground, with the wheels beside them as they went. And they stopped at the entrance of the east gate of the house of the LORD, with the glory of the God of Israel above them.
And the glory of the LORD went up from the midst of the city, and stood upon the mountain which is on the east side of the city.
And the glory of the LORD rose up from within the city and stood over the mountain east of the city.
That thou hast also built unto thee an eminent place, and hast made thee an high place in every street.
In that thou buildest thine eminent place in the head of every way, and makest thine high place in every street; and hast not been as an
harlot, in that thou scornest
hire;
But when you built your
mounds at the head of every street and made your lofty shrines in every public square, you were not even like a
prostitute, because you
scorned payment.
And I will also give thee into their hand, and they shall throw down thine eminent place, and shall break down thy high places: they shall strip thee also of thy clothes, and shall take thy fair jewels, and leave thee naked and bare.
Then I will deliver you into the hands of your lovers, and they will level your
mounds and
tear down your lofty shrines. They will strip off your clothes, take your fine
jewelry, and leave you naked and bare.
Neither shall Pharaoh with his mighty army and great company make for him in the war, by casting up mounts, and building forts, to cut off many persons:
Pharaoh with his mighty army and vast
horde will not help him in battle, when ramps are built and siege walls constructed to destroy many lives.
Thus saith the Lord GOD; I will also take of the highest branch of the high
cedar, and will set it; I will crop off from the top of his young twigs a tender one, and will plant it upon an high
mountain and eminent:
This is what the Lord GOD says: ‘I will take a shoot from the lofty top of the
cedar, and I will set it out. I will
pluck a tender
sprig from its
topmost shoots, and I will plant it on a high and lofty
mountain.
In the
mountain of the height of Israel will I plant it: and it shall bring forth boughs, and bear fruit, and be a goodly
cedar: and under it shall dwell all fowl of every wing; in the shadow of the branches thereof shall they dwell.
I will plant it on the
mountain heights of Israel so that it will bear branches; it will yield fruit and become a
majestic cedar. Birds of every kind will nest under it, taking shelter in the shade of its branches.
And hath not eaten upon the
mountains, neither hath lifted up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, neither hath
defiled his neighbour’s wife, neither hath come near to a
menstruous woman,
He does not eat at the
mountain or look to the idols of the house of Israel. He does not
defile his
neighbor’s wife or approach a woman during her period.
And that doeth not any of those duties, but even hath eaten upon the
mountains, and
defiled his neighbour’s wife,
though the father has done none of them: Indeed, the son eats at the
mountain and defiles his
neighbor’s wife.
That hath not eaten upon the
mountains, neither hath lifted up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, hath not
defiled his neighbour’s wife,
He does not eat at the
mountain or look to the idols of the house of Israel. He does not
defile his
neighbor’s wife.
And they put him in ward in chains, and brought him to the king of Babylon: they brought him into holds, that his voice should no more be heard upon the mountains of Israel.
With hooks they
caged him and brought him to the king of Babylon. They brought him into captivity so that his
roar was heard no longer on the
mountains of Israel.
For in mine holy mountain, in the mountain of the height of Israel, saith the Lord GOD, there shall all the house of Israel, all of them in the land, serve me: there will I accept them, and there will I require your offerings, and the firstfruits of your oblations, with all your holy things.
For on My holy mountain, the high mountain of Israel, declares the Lord GOD, there the whole house of Israel, all of them, will serve Me in the land. There I will accept them and will require your offerings and choice gifts, along with all your holy sacrifices.
At his right hand was the
divination for Jerusalem, to
appoint captains, to open the mouth in the slaughter, to lift up the voice with
shouting, to
appoint battering rams against the gates, to cast a
mount, and to build a fort.
In his right hand appears the
portent for Jerusalem, where he is to set up
battering rams, to call for the slaughter, to lift a battle cry, to direct the
battering rams against the gates, to build a
ramp, and to erect a siege wall.
In thee are men that carry tales to shed blood: and in thee they eat upon the
mountains: in the midst of thee they commit
lewdness.
Which were clothed with blue, captains and rulers, all of them desirable young men,
horsemen riding upon horses.
clothed in blue, governors and commanders, all desirable young men,
horsemen mounted on steeds.
The Babylonians, and all the Chaldeans, Pekod, and Shoa, and Koa, and all the Assyrians with them: all of them desirable young men, captains and rulers, great lords and
renowned, all of them riding upon horses.
the Babylonians and all the Chaldeans, the men of Pekod, Shoa, and Koa, and all the Assyrians with them—all desirable young men, governors and commanders, officers and men of
renown,
mounted on horses.
He shall
slay with the sword thy daughters in the field: and he shall make a fort against thee, and cast a
mount against thee, and lift up the
buckler against thee.
He will slaughter the villages of your mainland with the sword; he will set up siege works against you, build a
ramp to your walls, and raise his shields against you.
Thou hast been in
Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the
sardius,
topaz, and the
diamond, the
beryl, the
onyx, and the
jasper, the
sapphire, the
emerald, and the
carbuncle, and gold: the
workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou
wast created.
You were in
Eden, the garden of God. Every kind of precious stone adorned you:
ruby,
topaz, and
diamond,
beryl,
onyx, and
jasper,
sapphire,
turquoise, and
emerald. Your
mountings and settings were crafted in gold, prepared on the day of your creation.
Thou art the
anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou
wast upon the holy
mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.
You were
anointed as a
guardian cherub, for I had ordained you. You were on the holy
mountain of God; you walked among the
fiery stones.
By the multitude of thy
merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast
sinned: therefore I will cast thee as
profane out of the
mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering
cherub, from the midst of the stones of fire.
By the vastness of your trade, you were filled with violence, and you
sinned. So I drove you in disgrace from the
mountain of God, and I banished you, O
guardian cherub, from among the
fiery stones.
And strangers, the terrible of the nations, have cut him off, and have left him: upon the mountains and in all the valleys his branches are fallen, and his boughs are broken by all the rivers of the land; and all the people of the earth are gone down from his shadow, and have left him.
Foreigners, the most
ruthless of the nations, cut it down and left it. Its branches have fallen on the
mountains and in every valley; its boughs lay broken in all the earth’s ravines. And all the peoples of the earth left its shade and abandoned it.
And I will lay thy flesh upon the mountains, and fill the valleys with thy height.
I will put your flesh on the mountains and fill the valleys with your remains.
I will also water with thy blood the land wherein thou swimmest, even to the mountains; and the rivers shall be full of thee.
I will
drench the land with the flow of your blood, all the way to the
mountains— the ravines will be filled.
For I will lay the land most
desolate, and the
pomp of her strength shall cease; and the
mountains of Israel shall be
desolate, that none shall pass through.
I will make the land a
desolate waste, and the pride of her strength will come to an end. The
mountains of Israel will become
desolate, so that no one will pass through.
My sheep
wandered through all the
mountains, and upon every high hill:
yea, my flock was scattered upon all the face of the earth, and none did search or seek after them.
My flock went
astray on all the
mountains and every high hill. They were scattered over the face of all the earth, with no one to search for them or seek them out.’
And I will bring them out from the people, and gather them from the countries, and will bring them to their own land, and feed them upon the mountains of Israel by the rivers, and in all the inhabited places of the country.
I will bring them out from the peoples, gather them from the countries, and bring them into their own land. I will feed them on the mountains of Israel, in the ravines, and in all the settlements of the land.
I will feed them in a good pasture, and upon the high mountains of Israel shall their fold be: there shall they lie in a good fold, and in a fat pasture shall they feed upon the mountains of Israel.
I will feed them in good pasture, and the lofty
mountains of Israel will be their
grazing land. There they will lie down in a good
grazing land; they will feed in rich pasture on the
mountains of Israel.
Son of man, set thy face against
mount Seir, and
prophesy against it,
“Son of man, set your face against
Mount Seir and
prophesy against it,
And say unto it, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, O
mount Seir, I am against thee, and I will stretch out mine hand against thee, and I will make thee most
desolate.
and declare that this is what the Lord GOD says: Behold, I am against you, O
Mount Seir. I will stretch out My hand against you and make you a
desolate waste.
Thus will I make
mount Seir most
desolate, and cut off from it him that passeth out and him that returneth.
I will make
Mount Seir a
desolate waste and will cut off from it those who come and go.
And I will fill his mountains with his slain men: in thy hills, and in thy valleys, and in all thy rivers, shall they fall that are slain with the sword.
I will fill its mountains with the slain; those killed by the sword will fall on your hills, in your valleys, and in all your ravines.
And thou shalt know that I am the LORD, and that I have heard all thy blasphemies which thou hast spoken against the
mountains of Israel, saying, They are laid
desolate, they are given us to
consume.
Then you will know that I, the LORD, have heard every
contemptuous word you uttered against the
mountains of Israel when you said, ‘They are
desolate; they are given to us to
devour!’
As thou
didst rejoice at the inheritance of the house of Israel, because it was
desolate, so will I do unto thee: thou shalt be
desolate, O
mount Seir, and all
Idumea, even all of it: and they shall know that I am the LORD.
As you
rejoiced when the inheritance of the house of Israel became
desolate, so will I do to you. You will become a
desolation, O
Mount Seir, and so will all of
Edom. Then they will know that I am the LORD.
Also, thou son of man,
prophesy unto the
mountains of Israel, and say, Ye
mountains of Israel, hear the word of the LORD:
“And you, son of man,
prophesy to the
mountains of Israel and say: O
mountains of Israel, hear the word of the LORD.
Therefore, ye
mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord GOD; Thus saith the Lord GOD to the
mountains, and to the hills, to the rivers, and to the valleys, to the
desolate wastes, and to the cities that are
forsaken, which became a prey and
derision to the residue of the heathen that are round about;
therefore, O
mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord GOD. This is what the Lord GOD says to the
mountains and hills, to the ravines and valleys, to the
desolate ruins and abandoned cities, which have become a
spoil and a
mockery to the rest of the nations around you.
Prophesy therefore concerning the land of Israel, and say unto the
mountains, and to the hills, to the rivers, and to the valleys, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I have spoken in my jealousy and in my
fury, because ye have borne the shame of the heathen:
Therefore,
prophesy concerning the land of Israel and tell the
mountains and hills, the ravines and valleys, that this is what the Lord GOD says: Behold, I have spoken in My burning zeal because you have
endured the reproach of the nations.
But ye, O mountains of Israel, ye shall shoot forth your branches, and yield your fruit to my people of Israel; for they are at hand to come.
But you, O mountains of Israel, will produce branches and bear fruit for My people Israel, for they will soon come home.
And I will make them one nation in the land upon the mountains of Israel; and one king shall be king to them all: and they shall be no more two nations, neither shall they be divided into two kingdoms any more at all:
I will make them one nation in the land, on the mountains of Israel, and one king will rule over all of them. Then they will no longer be two nations and will never again be divided into two kingdoms.
After many days thou shalt be visited: in the latter years thou shalt come into the land that is brought back from the sword, and is gathered out of many people, against the mountains of Israel, which have been always waste: but it is brought forth out of the nations, and they shall dwell safely all of them.
After a long time you will be summoned. In the latter years you will enter a land that has recovered from war, whose people were gathered from many nations to the
mountains of Israel, which had long been
desolate. They had been brought out from the nations, and all now dwell securely.
So that the fishes of the sea, and the fowls of the heaven, and the beasts of the field, and all
creeping things that
creep upon the earth, and all the men that are upon the face of the earth, shall
shake at my presence, and the
mountains shall be thrown down, and the steep places shall fall, and every wall shall fall to the ground.
The fish of the sea, the birds of the air, the beasts of the field, every creature that crawls upon the ground, and all mankind on the face of the earth will
tremble at My presence. The
mountains will be thrown down, the cliffs will
collapse, and every wall will fall to the ground.
And I will call for a sword against him throughout all my mountains, saith the Lord GOD: every man’s sword shall be against his brother.
And I will
summon a sword against
Gog on all My
mountains, declares the Lord GOD, and every man’s sword will be against his brother.
And I will turn thee back, and leave but the sixth part of thee, and will cause thee to come up from the north parts, and will bring thee upon the mountains of Israel:
I will turn you around, drive you along, bring you up from the far north, and send you against the mountains of Israel.
Thou shalt fall upon the
mountains of Israel, thou, and all thy bands, and the people that is with thee: I will give thee unto the
ravenous birds of every sort, and to the beasts of the field to be
devoured.
On the
mountains of Israel you will fall—you and all your troops and the nations with you. I will give you as food to every kind of
ravenous bird and wild beast.
And, thou son of man, thus saith the Lord GOD; Speak unto every
feathered fowl, and to every beast of the field,
Assemble yourselves, and come; gather
yourselves on every side to my sacrifice that I do sacrifice for you, even a great sacrifice upon the
mountains of Israel, that ye may eat flesh, and drink blood.
And as for you, son of man, this is what the Lord GOD says: Call out to every kind of bird and to every beast of the field: ‘
Assemble and come together from all around to the
sacrificial feast that I am preparing for you, a great feast on the
mountains of Israel. There you will eat flesh and drink blood.
In the visions of God brought he me into the land of Israel, and set me upon a very high mountain, by which was as the frame of a city on the south.
In visions of God He took me to the land of Israel and set me on a very high mountain, on whose southern slope was a structure that resembled a city.
This is the law of the house; Upon the top of the mountain the whole limit thereof round about shall be most holy. Behold, this is the law of the house.
This is the law of the temple: All its surrounding territory on top of the
mountain will be most holy.
Yes, this is the law of the temple.
Then was the iron, the clay, the brass, the silver, and the gold, broken to pieces together, and became like the
chaff of the summer threshingfloors; and the wind carried them away, that no place was found for them: and the stone that
smote the image became a great
mountain, and filled the whole earth.
Then the iron, clay, bronze, silver, and gold were
shattered and became like
chaff on the
threshing floor in summer. The wind carried them away, and not a trace of them could be found. But the stone that had struck the statue became a great
mountain and filled the whole earth.
Forasmuch as thou sawest that the stone was cut out of the
mountain without hands, and that it
brake in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold; the great God hath made known to the king what shall come to pass
hereafter: and the dream is certain, and the interpretation thereof sure.
And just as you saw a stone being cut out of the
mountain without human hands, and it
shattered the iron, bronze, clay, silver, and gold, so the great God has told the king what will happen in the future. The dream is true, and its interpretation is
trustworthy.”
O Lord, according to all thy righteousness, I
beseech thee, let thine anger and thy
fury be turned away from thy city Jerusalem, thy holy
mountain: because for our sins, and for the
iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem and thy people are become a reproach to all that are about us.
O Lord, in keeping with all Your righteous acts, I pray that Your anger and wrath may turn away from Your city Jerusalem, Your holy
mountain; for because of our sins and the
iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem and Your people are a reproach to all around us.
And whiles I was speaking, and praying, and
confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel, and presenting my
supplication before the LORD my God for the holy
mountain of my God;
While I was speaking, praying,
confessing my sin and that of my people Israel, and presenting my petition before the LORD my God concerning His holy
mountain—
So the king of the north shall come, and cast up a
mount, and take the most
fenced cities: and the arms of the south shall not
withstand, neither his chosen people, neither shall there be any strength to
withstand.
Then the king of the North will come, build up a siege
ramp, and capture a fortified city. The forces of the South will not stand; even their best troops will not be able to resist.
And he shall plant the tabernacles of his palace between the seas in the glorious holy mountain; yet he shall come to his end, and none shall help him.
He will pitch his royal tents between the sea and the beautiful holy mountain, but he will meet his end with no one to help him.
They sacrifice upon the tops of the
mountains, and burn incense upon the hills, under oaks and poplars and elms, because the shadow thereof is good: therefore your daughters shall commit
whoredom, and your spouses shall commit
adultery.
They sacrifice on the
mountaintops and burn offerings on the hills, under oak,
poplar, and
terebinth, because their shade is pleasant. And so your daughters turn to
prostitution and your daughters-in-law to
adultery.
The high places also of
Aven, the sin of Israel, shall be destroyed: the
thorn and the
thistle shall come up on their altars; and they shall say to the
mountains, Cover us; and to the hills, Fall on us.
The high places of
Aven will be destroyed— it is the sin of Israel; thorns and thistles will overgrow their altars. Then they will say to the
mountains, “Cover us!” and to the hills, “Fall on us!”
Blow ye the
trumpet in
Zion, and sound an
alarm in my holy
mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land
tremble: for the day of the LORD cometh, for it is
nigh at hand;
Blow the ram’s horn in
Zion; sound the
alarm on My holy
mountain! Let all who dwell in the land
tremble, for the Day of the LORD is coming; indeed, it is near—
