Except the God of my father, the God of Abraham, and the fear of Isaac, had been with me, surely thou hadst sent me away
now empty. God hath seen mine
affliction and the labour of my hands, and
rebuked thee
yesternight.
If the God of my father, the God of Abraham and the Fear of Isaac, had not been with me, surely by
now you would have sent me away empty-handed. But God has seen my
affliction and the
toil of my hands, and last night He rendered judgment.”

I am not worthy of the least of all the
mercies, and of all the truth, which thou hast shewed unto thy servant; for with my staff I passed over this Jordan; and
now I am become two bands.

And Jacob lifted up his eyes, and looked, and, behold,
Esau came, and with him four hundred men. And he divided the children unto Leah, and unto

Rachel, and the two maidservants.
And Jacob said,
Nay, I pray thee, if
now I have found grace in thy sight, then receive my present at my hand: for therefore I have seen thy face, as though I had seen the face of God, and thou
wast pleased with me.

favorably.
And
Esau said, Let me
now leave with thee some of the

vale of
Hebron, and he came to
Shechem.
Then Israel told him, “Go
now and see how your brothers and the flocks are faring, and bring word back to me.” So he sent him off from the Valley of
Hebron. And when Joseph arrived in
Shechem,
And when they saw him
afar off, even before he came near unto them, they
conspired against him to
slay him.
Now Joseph’s brothers saw him in the distance, and before he arrived, they
plotted to kill him.
Come
now therefore, and let us
slay him, and cast him into some pit, and we will say, Some evil beast hath
devoured him: and we shall see what will become of his dreams.
“Come
now, let us kill him and throw him into one of the pits. We can say that a
vicious animal has
devoured him. Then we shall see what becomes of his dreams!”
And they took him, and cast him into a pit: and the pit was empty, there was no water in it.

wilt thou give me, that thou mayest come in unto me?

now, let me sleep with you.” “What will you give me for sleeping with you?” she inquired.

But they answered, “Your servants are twelve brothers, the sons of one man in the land of
Canaan. The youngest is
now with our father, and one is no more.”
And
Reuben answered them, saying, Spake I not unto you, saying, Do not sin against the child; and ye would not hear? therefore, behold, also his blood is required.
And
Reuben responded, “Didn’t I tell you not to sin against the boy? But you would not
listen.
Now we must account for his blood!”
We be twelve brethren, sons of our father; one is not, and the youngest is this day with our father in the land of
Canaan.
We are twelve brothers, sons of one father. One is no more, and the youngest is
now with our father in the land of
Canaan.’
And Jacob their father said unto them, Me have ye
bereaved of my children: Joseph is not, and

Simeon is no more.
Now you want to take Benjamin. Everything is going against me!”

And their father Israel said unto them, If it must be so
now, do this; take of the best fruits in the land in your vessels, and carry down the man a present, a little
balm, and a little honey, spices, and

Then their father Israel said to them, “If it must be so, then do this: Put some of the best products of the land in your packs and carry them down as a gift for the man—a little
balm and a little honey, spices and
myrrh, pistachios and almonds.
And he said,
Now also let it be according unto your words; he with whom it is found shall be my servant; and ye shall be
blameless.
“As you say,” replied the
steward. “But only the one who is found with the cup will be my slave, and the rest of you shall be free of
blame.”
And Judah said, What shall we say unto my lord? what shall we speak? or how shall we clear ourselves? God hath found out the iniquity of thy servants: behold, we are my lord’s servants, both we, and he also with whom the cup is found.
“What can we say to my lord?” Judah replied. “How can we
plead? How can we
justify ourselves? God has exposed the iniquity of your servants. We are
now my lord’s slaves—both we and the one who was found with the cup.”
And it came to pass when we came up unto thy servant my father, we told him the words of my lord.
Now when we returned to your servant my father, we relayed your words to him.

befall him, ye shall bring down my gray hairs with sorrow to the grave.
Now if you also take this one from me and
harm comes to him, you will bring my gray hair down to
Sheol in sorrow.’
Now therefore when I come to thy servant my father, and the
lad be not with us; seeing that his life is bound up in the
lad’s life;
So if the boy is not with us when I return to your servant, and if my father, whose life is
wrapped up in the boy’s life,
Now therefore, I pray thee, let thy servant
abide instead of the
lad a
bondman to my lord; and let the
lad go up with his brethren.
Now please let your servant stay here as my lord’s slave in place of the boy. Let him return with his brothers.
And
now, do not be distressed or
angry with
yourselves that you sold me into this place, because it was to save lives that God sent me before you.
So
now it was not you that sent me
hither, but God: and he hath made me a father to Pharaoh, and lord of all his house, and a ruler throughout all the land of Egypt.
Therefore it was not you who sent me here, but God, who has made me a father to Pharaoh—lord of all his household and ruler over all the land of Egypt.
Haste ye, and go up to my father, and say unto him, Thus saith thy son Joseph, God hath made me lord of all Egypt: come down unto me,
tarry not:
Now return quickly to my father and tell him, ‘This is what your son Joseph says: God has made me lord of all Egypt. Come down to me without delay.
Now thou art commanded, this do ye; take you wagons out of the land of Egypt for your little ones, and for your wives, and bring your father, and come.

Goshen; and they came into the land of
Goshen.
Now Jacob had sent Judah
ahead of him to Joseph to get directions to
Goshen. When Jacob’s family arrived in the land of
Goshen,
And Israel said unto Joseph, Now let me die, since I have seen thy face, because thou art yet alive.
Then Israel said to Joseph, “Finally I can die, now that I have seen your face and know that you are still alive!”
That ye shall say, Thy servants’ trade hath been about cattle from our youth even until
now, both we, and also our fathers: that ye may dwell in the land of
Goshen; for every
shepherd is an
abomination unto the Egyptians.
you are to say, ‘Your servants have raised
livestock ever since our youth—both we and our fathers.’ Then you will be allowed to settle in the land of
Goshen, since all
shepherds are
detestable to the Egyptians.”
Then Joseph came and told Pharaoh, and said, My father and my brethren, and their flocks, and their herds, and all that they have, are come out of the land of
Canaan; and, behold, they are in the land of
Goshen.

Canaan and are
now in
Goshen.”
They said moreover unto Pharaoh, For to
sojourn in the land are we come; for thy servants have no pasture for their flocks; for the famine is
sore in the land of
Canaan:
now therefore, we pray thee, let thy servants dwell in the land of
Goshen.
Then they said to Pharaoh, “We have come to live in the land for a time, because there is no pasture for the flocks of your servants, since the famine in the land of
Canaan has been severe. So
now, please allow your servants to settle in the land of
Goshen.”
And Pharaoh spake unto Joseph, saying, Thy father and thy brethren are come unto thee:
Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Now that your father and brothers have come to you,

sow the land.
Then Joseph said to the people, “
Now that I have acquired you and your land for Pharaoh this day, here is seed for you to
sow in the land.

And the time drew
nigh that Israel must die: and he called his son Joseph, and said unto him, If
now I have found grace in thy sight, put, I pray thee, thy hand under my
thigh, and deal kindly and truly with me;
bury me not, I pray thee, in Egypt:
When the time drew near for Israel to die, he called his son Joseph and said to him, “If I have found favor in your eyes, put your hand under my
thigh and promise to show me kindness and faithfulness. Do not
bury me in Egypt,
And
now thy two sons, Ephraim and
Manasseh, which were born unto thee in the land of Egypt before I came unto thee into Egypt, are mine; as
Reuben and
Simeon, they shall be mine.
And
now your two sons born to you in Egypt before I came to you here shall be reckoned as mine; Ephraim and
Manasseh shall be mine, just as
Reuben and
Simeon are mine.
And as for me, when I came from Padan,
Rachel died by me in the land of
Canaan in the way, when yet there was but a little way to come unto
Ephrath: and I buried her there in the way of
Ephrath; the same is
Bethlehem.
Now as for me, when I was returning from Paddan, to my sorrow
Rachel died along the way in the land of
Canaan, some distance from
Ephrath. So I buried her there beside the road to
Ephrath” (that is,
Bethlehem).
Now the eyes of Israel were
dim for age, so that he could not see. And he brought them near unto him; and he
kissed them, and embraced them.
Now Israel’s
eyesight was poor because of old age; he could hardly see. Joseph brought his sons to him, and his father
kissed them and embraced them.
And Israel said unto Joseph, I had not thought to see thy face: and, lo, God hath shewed me also thy seed.
“I never expected to see your face again,” Israel said to Joseph, “but now God has let me see your children as well.”
And when the days of his
mourning were past, Joseph spake unto the house of Pharaoh, saying, If
now I have found grace in your eyes, speak, I pray you, in the ears of Pharaoh, saying,
When the days of
mourning had passed, Joseph said to Pharaoh’s court, “If I have found favor in your eyes, please tell Pharaoh that
My father made me
swear, saying, Lo, I die: in my grave which I have
digged for me in the land of
Canaan, there shalt thou
bury me.
Now therefore let me go up, I pray thee, and
bury my father, and I will come again.
my father made me
swear an oath when he said, ‘I am about to die. You must
bury me in the tomb that I
dug for myself in the land of
Canaan.’
Now let me go and
bury my father, and then return.”
So shall ye say unto Joseph,
Forgive, I pray thee
now, the
trespass of thy brethren, and their sin; for they did unto thee evil: and
now, we pray thee,
forgive the
trespass of the servants of the God of thy father. And Joseph
wept when they spake unto him.
‘This is what you are to say to Joseph: I
beg you, please
forgive the
transgression and sin of your brothers, for they did you wrong.’ So
now, Joseph, please
forgive the
transgression of the servants of the God of your father.” When their message came to him, Joseph
wept.
Now therefore fear ye not: I will
nourish you, and your little ones. And he comforted them, and spake kindly unto them.
Therefore do not be afraid. I will provide for you and your little ones.” So Joseph
reassured his brothers and spoke kindly to them.
And Joseph dwelt in Egypt, he, and his father’s house: and Joseph lived an hundred and ten years.
Now Joseph and his father’s household remained in Egypt, and Joseph lived to the age of 110.
Now these are the names of the children of Israel, which came into Egypt; every man and his household came with Jacob.
These are the names of the sons of Israel who went to Egypt with Jacob, each with his family:
And Joseph died, and all his brethren, and all that generation.
Now Joseph and all his brothers and all that generation died,

Now when Pharaoh heard this thing, he sought to
slay Moses. But Moses fled from the face of Pharaoh, and dwelt in the land of
Midian: and he sat down by a well.
When Pharaoh heard about this matter, he sought to kill Moses. But Moses fled from Pharaoh and settled in the land of
Midian, where he sat down beside a well.
Now the priest of
Midian had seven daughters: and they came and drew water, and filled the troughs to water their father’s flock.
Now the priest of
Midian had seven daughters, and they came to draw water and fill the troughs to water their father’s flock.
Now Moses kept the flock of Jethro his father in law, the priest of
Midian: and he led the flock to the
backside of the desert, and came to the mountain of God, even to
Horeb.
Meanwhile, Moses was
shepherding the flock of his father-in-law Jethro, the priest of
Midian. He led the flock to the far side of the wilderness and came to
Horeb, the mountain of God.
And Moses said, I will
now turn aside, and see this great sight, why the
bush is not burnt.
So Moses thought, “I must go over and see this
marvelous sight. Why is the
bush not burning up?”
Now therefore, behold, the cry of the children of Israel is come unto me: and I have also seen the oppression
wherewith the Egyptians
oppress them.
And
now the cry of the Israelites has reached Me, and I have seen how severely the Egyptians are
oppressing them.
Come now therefore, and I will send thee unto Pharaoh, that thou mayest bring forth my people the children of Israel out of Egypt.
Therefore, go! I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring My people the Israelites out of Egypt.”
And they shall
hearken to thy voice: and thou shalt come, thou and the elders of Israel, unto the king of Egypt, and ye shall say unto him, The LORD God of the Hebrews hath met with us: and
now let us go, we
beseech thee, three days’ journey into the wilderness, that we may sacrifice to the LORD our God.
The elders of Israel will
listen to what you say, and you must go with them to the king of Egypt and tell him, ‘The LORD, the God of the Hebrews, has met with us.
Now please let us take a three-day journey into the wilderness, so that we may sacrifice to the LORD our God.’
And the LORD said
furthermore unto him, Put
now thine hand into thy
bosom. And he put his hand into his
bosom: and when he took it out, behold, his hand was
leprous as snow.
Furthermore, the LORD said to Moses, “Put your hand inside your
cloak.” So he put his hand inside his
cloak, and when he took it out, his hand was
leprous, white as snow.
Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt say.
Now go! I will help you as you speak, and I will teach you what to say.”
And the anger of the LORD was
kindled against Moses, and he said, Is not Aaron the
Levite thy brother? I know that he can speak well. And also, behold, he cometh forth to meet thee: and when he
seeth thee, he will be
glad in his heart.
Then the anger of the LORD burned against Moses, and He said, “Is not Aaron the
Levite your brother? I know that he can speak well, and he is
now on his way to meet you. When he sees you, he will be
glad in his heart.
And the LORD said unto Moses in
Midian, Go, return into Egypt: for all the men are dead which sought thy life.
Now the LORD had said to Moses in
Midian, “Go back to Egypt, for all the men who sought to kill you are dead.”
And it came to pass by the way in the inn, that the LORD met him, and sought to kill him.
Now at a
lodging place along the way, the LORD met Moses and was about to kill him.
And Pharaoh said, Behold, the people of the land now are many, and ye make them rest from their burdens.
Pharaoh also said, “Look, the people of the land are
now numerous, and you would be
stopping them from their labor.”
Go therefore now, and work; for there shall no straw be given you, yet shall ye deliver the tale of bricks.
Now get to work. You will be given no straw, yet you must deliver the full
quota of bricks.”
Then the LORD said unto Moses, Now shalt thou see what I will do to Pharaoh: for with a strong hand shall he let them go, and with a strong hand shall he drive them out of his land.
But the LORD said to Moses, “Now you will see what I will do to Pharaoh, for because of My mighty hand he will let the people go; because of My strong hand he will drive them out of his land.”
And it came to pass on the day when the LORD spake unto Moses in the land of Egypt,
Now on the day that the LORD spoke to Moses in Egypt,
Then Pharaoh also called the wise men and the sorcerers: now the magicians of Egypt, they also did in like manner with their enchantments.
But Pharaoh called the wise men and sorcerers and magicians of Egypt, and they also did the same things by their magic arts.
And thou shalt say unto him, The LORD God of the Hebrews hath sent me unto thee, saying, Let my people go, that they may serve me in the wilderness: and, behold, hitherto thou wouldest not hear.
Then say to him, ‘The LORD, the God of the Hebrews, has sent me to tell you: Let My people go, so that they may worship Me in the wilderness. But you have not
listened until
now.
And Pharaoh said, I will let you go, that ye may sacrifice to the LORD your God in the wilderness; only ye shall not go very far away: intreat for me.
Pharaoh answered, “I will let you go and sacrifice to the LORD your God in the wilderness, but you must not go very far. Now pray for me.”
For
now I will stretch out my hand, that I may
smite thee and thy people with
pestilence; and thou shalt be cut off from the earth.
For by this time I could have stretched out My hand and struck you and your people with a plague to
wipe you off the earth.
Behold, to
morrow about this time I will cause it to rain a very
grievous hail, such as hath not been in Egypt since the foundation thereof even until
now.
Behold, at this time
tomorrow I will rain down the worst
hail that has ever fallen on Egypt, from the day it was founded until
now.
Send therefore
now, and gather thy cattle, and all that thou hast in the field; for upon every man and beast which shall be found in the field, and shall not be brought home, the
hail shall come down upon them, and they shall die.
So give orders
now to shelter your
livestock and everything you have in the field. Every man or beast that remains in the field and is not brought inside will die when the
hail comes down upon them.’”
And the flax and the barley was
smitten: for the barley was in the ear, and the flax was
bolled.
(
Now the flax and barley were destroyed, since the barley was ripe and the flax was in
bloom;
Not so: go now ye that are men, and serve the LORD; for that ye did desire. And they were driven out from Pharaoh’s presence.
No, only the men may go and worship the LORD, since that is what you have been requesting.” And Moses and Aaron were driven from Pharaoh’s presence.
Now therefore
forgive, I pray thee, my sin only this once, and intreat the LORD your God, that he may take away from me this death only.
Now please
forgive my sin once more and appeal to the LORD your God, that He may remove this death from me.”
Speak
now in the ears of the people, and let every man
borrow of his neighbour, and every woman of her neighbour, jewels of silver, and jewels of gold.
Now announce to the people that men and women alike should ask their neighbors for articles of silver and gold.”
And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, saying,
Now the LORD said to Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt,
