And it came to
pass, that when they had made an end of eating the grass of the land, then I said, O Lord GOD,
forgive, I
beseech thee: by whom shall Jacob arise? for he is small.
And when the locusts had eaten every green plant in the land, I said, “Lord GOD, please
forgive! How will Jacob
survive, since he is so small?”
And the LORD said unto me,
Amos, what seest thou? And I said, A plumbline. Then said the Lord, Behold, I will set a plumbline in the midst of my people Israel: I will not again
pass by them any more:
“
Amos, what do you see?” asked the LORD. “A
plumb line,” I replied. “Behold,” said the Lord, “I am setting a
plumb line among My people Israel; I will no longer
spare them:
And he said,
Amos, what seest thou? And I said, A
basket of summer fruit. Then said the LORD unto me, The end is come upon my people of Israel; I will not again
pass by them any more.
“
Amos, what do you see?” He asked. “A
basket of summer fruit,” I replied. So the LORD said to me, “The end has come for My people Israel; I will no longer
spare them.”
And it shall come to
pass in that day, saith the Lord GOD, that I will cause the sun to go down at
noon, and I will
darken the earth in the clear day:
And in that day, declares the Lord GOD, I will make the sun go down at
noon, and I will
darken the earth in the
daytime.
For thou hadst cast me into the deep, in the midst of the seas; and the floods compassed me about: all thy billows and thy waves passed over me.
For You cast me into the deep, into the heart of the seas, and the current
swirled about me; all Your breakers and waves swept over me.
And it came to
pass, when the sun did arise, that God prepared a
vehement east wind; and the sun beat upon the head of
Jonah, that he
fainted, and wished in himself to die, and said, It is better for me to die than to live.
As the sun was rising, God appointed a
scorching east wind, and the sun beat down on
Jonah’s head so that he grew
faint and wished to die, saying, “It is better for me to die than to live.”
Pass ye away, thou inhabitant of Saphir, having thy shame naked: the inhabitant of Zaanan came not forth in the
mourning of Beth-ezel; he shall receive of you his standing.
Depart in shameful nakedness, O dwellers of Shaphir. The dwellers of Zaanan will not come out. Beth-ezel is in
mourning; its support is taken from you.
Even of late my people is risen up as an enemy: ye pull off the
robe with the garment from them that
pass by securely as men
averse from war.
But of late My people have risen up like an enemy: You strip off the splendid
robe from
unsuspecting passersby like men returning from battle.
The breaker is come up before them: they have broken up, and have passed through the gate, and are gone out by it: and their king shall pass before them, and the LORD on the head of them.
One who breaks open the way will go up before them; they will break through the gate, and go out by it. Their King will pass through before them, the LORD as their leader.
But in the last days it shall come to
pass, that the mountain of the house of the LORD shall be established in the top of the mountains, and it shall be
exalted above the hills; and people shall flow unto it.
In the last days the mountain of the house of the LORD will be established as the chief of the mountains; it will be raised above the hills, and the peoples will stream to it.
And the
remnant of Jacob shall be among the Gentiles in the midst of many people as a lion among the beasts of the forest, as a young lion among the flocks of sheep: who, if he go through, both treadeth down, and teareth in pieces, and none can deliver.
Then the
remnant of Jacob will be among the nations, in the midst of many peoples, like a lion among the beasts of the forest, like a young lion among flocks of sheep, which tramples and tears as it
passes through, with no one to
rescue them.
And it shall come to
pass in that day, saith the LORD, that I will cut off thy horses out of the midst of thee, and I will destroy thy
chariots:
“In that day,” declares the LORD, “I will remove your horses from among you and
wreck your
chariots.
Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and
passeth by the
transgression of the
remnant of his
heritage? he retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth in mercy.
Who is a God like You, who pardons iniquity and
passes over the
transgression of the
remnant of His inheritance— who does not retain His anger
forever, because He delights in loving devotion?
Thus saith the LORD: Though they be quiet, and likewise many, yet thus shall they be cut down, when he shall
pass through. Though I have
afflicted thee, I will
afflict thee no more.
This is what the LORD says: “Though they are allied and numerous, yet they will be cut down and
pass away. Though I have
afflicted you, O Judah, I will
afflict you no longer.
Behold upon the mountains the feet of him that bringeth good
tidings, that publisheth peace! O Judah, keep thy solemn feasts, perform thy vows: for the wicked shall no more
pass through thee; he is utterly cut off.
Look to the mountains— the feet of one who brings good news, who proclaims peace!
Celebrate your feasts, O Judah;
fulfill your vows. For the wicked will never again march through you; they will be utterly cut off.
And it shall come to
pass, that all they that look upon thee shall
flee from thee, and say,
Nineveh is laid waste: who will
bemoan her? whence shall I seek comforters for thee?
There is no
healing of thy
bruise; thy wound is
grievous: all that hear the
bruit of thee shall
clap the hands over thee: for upon whom hath not thy wickedness
passed continually?
There is no
healing for your injury; your wound is severe. All who hear the news of you
applaud your
downfall, for who has not experienced your constant cruelty?
Then shall his mind change, and he shall
pass over, and
offend, imputing this his power unto his god.
Then they
sweep by like the wind and
pass on through. They are guilty; their own strength is their god.”
The mountains saw thee, and they
trembled: the overflowing of the water
passed by: the deep uttered his voice, and lifted up his hands on high.
The mountains saw You and
quaked; torrents of water swept by. The deep
roared with its voice and lifted its hands on high.
And it shall come to
pass in the day of the LORD’S sacrifice, that I will
punish the princes, and the king’s children, and all such as are clothed with strange
apparel.
“On the Day of the LORD’s sacrifice I will
punish the princes, the sons of the king, and all who are dressed in foreign
apparel.
And it shall come to
pass in that day, saith the LORD, that there shall be the noise of a cry from the fish gate, and an
howling from the second, and a great
crashing from the hills.
On that day,” declares the LORD, “a cry will go up from the Fish Gate, a
wail from the Second District, and a loud
crashing from the hills.
And it shall come to
pass at that time, that I will search Jerusalem with candles, and
punish the men that are settled on their
lees: that say in their heart, The LORD will not do good, neither will he do evil.
And at that time I will search Jerusalem with lamps and
punish the men settled in
complacency, who say to themselves, ‘The LORD will do nothing, either good or bad.’
Before the decree bring forth, before the day
pass as the
chaff, before the fierce anger of the LORD come upon you, before the day of the LORD’S anger come upon you.
before the decree takes effect and the day
passes like
chaff, before the burning anger of the LORD comes upon you, before the Day of the LORD’s anger comes upon you.
This is the
rejoicing city that dwelt
carelessly, that said in her heart, I am, and there is none beside me: how is she become a
desolation, a place for beasts to lie down in! every one that
passeth by her shall hiss, and
wag his hand.
This carefree city that dwells securely, that thinks to herself: “I am it, and there is none besides me,” what a ruin she has become, a resting place for beasts.
Everyone who
passes by her hisses and shakes his
fist.
I have cut off the nations: their towers are
desolate; I made their streets waste, that none
passeth by: their cities are destroyed, so that there is no man, that there is none inhabitant.
“I have cut off the nations; their corner towers are destroyed. I have made their streets deserted with no one to pass through. Their cities are laid waste, with no man, no inhabitant.
And he answered and spake unto those that stood before him, saying, Take away the
filthy garments from him. And unto him he said, Behold, I have caused thine iniquity to
pass from thee, and I will
clothe thee with change of
raiment.
So the angel said to those standing before him, “Take off his
filthy clothes!” Then he said to Joshua, “See, I have removed your iniquity, and I will
clothe you with splendid robes.”
And they that are far off shall come and build in the temple of the LORD, and ye shall know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me unto you. And this shall come to
pass, if ye will
diligently obey the voice of the LORD your God.
Even those far away will come and build the temple of the LORD, and you will know that the LORD of Hosts has sent Me to you. This will happen if you
diligently obey the voice of the LORD your God.”
And it came to
pass in the fourth year of king
Darius, that the word of the LORD came unto
Zechariah in the fourth day of the ninth month, even in
Chisleu;
In the fourth year of King
Darius, the word of the LORD came to
Zechariah on the fourth day of the ninth month, the month of Chislev.
Therefore it is come to
pass, that as he
cried, and they would not hear; so they
cried, and I would not hear, saith the LORD of hosts:
And just as I had called and they would not
listen, so when they called I would not
listen, says the LORD of Hosts.
But I scattered them with a
whirlwind among all the nations whom they knew not. Thus the land was
desolate after them, that no man
passed through nor returned: for they laid the pleasant land
desolate.
But I scattered them with a
whirlwind among all the nations that they had not known, and the land was left
desolate behind them so that no one could come or go. Thus they turned the pleasant land into a
desolation.”
And it shall come to
pass, that as ye were a
curse among the heathen, O house of Judah, and house of Israel; so will I save you, and ye shall be a blessing: fear not, but let your hands be strong.
As you have been a
curse among the nations, O house of Judah and house of Israel, so I will save you, and you will be a blessing. Do not be afraid; let your hands be strong.”
Thus saith the LORD of hosts; It shall yet come to pass, that there shall come people, and the inhabitants of many cities:
This is what the LORD of Hosts says: “Peoples will yet come—the residents of many cities—
Thus saith the LORD of hosts; In those days it shall come to
pass, that ten men shall take hold out of all languages of the nations, even shall take hold of the
skirt of him that is a
Jew, saying, We will go with you: for we have heard that God is with you.
This is what the LORD of Hosts says: “In those days ten men from the nations of every tongue will
tightly grasp the
robe of a
Jew, saying, ‘Let us go with you, for we have heard that God is with you.’”
And I will
encamp about mine house because of the army, because of him that
passeth by, and because of him that returneth: and no
oppressor shall
pass through them any more: for now have I seen with mine eyes.
But I will camp around My house because of an army, because of those who march to and
fro, and never again will an
oppressor overrun My people, for now I keep watch with My own eyes.
And he shall
pass through the sea with
affliction, and shall
smite the waves in the sea, and all the deeps of the river shall dry up: and the pride of Assyria shall be brought down, and the
sceptre of Egypt shall depart away.
They will
pass through the sea of distress and strike the waves of the sea; all the depths of the Nile will dry up. The pride of Assyria will be brought down, and the
scepter of Egypt will depart.
And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.
So on that day I will set out to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.
And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the LORD of hosts, that I will cut off the names of the idols out of the land, and they shall no more be remembered: and also I will cause the prophets and the unclean spirit to pass out of the land.
And on that day, declares the LORD of Hosts, I will
erase the names of the idols from the land, and they will no longer be remembered. I will also remove the prophets and the spirit of impurity from the land.
And it shall come to
pass, that when any shall yet
prophesy, then his father and his mother that
begat him shall say unto him, Thou shalt not live; for thou speakest lies in the name of the LORD: and his father and his mother that
begat him shall thrust him through when he prophesieth.
And if
anyone still prophesies, his father and mother who bore him will say to him, ‘You shall not remain alive, because you have spoken falsely in the name of the LORD.’ When he prophesies, his father and mother who bore him will
pierce him through.
And it shall come to
pass in that day, that the prophets shall be
ashamed every one of his vision, when he hath
prophesied; neither shall they wear a rough garment to
deceive:
And on that day every prophet who prophesies will be
ashamed of his vision, and he will not put on a
hairy cloak in order to
deceive.
And it shall come to pass, that in all the land, saith the LORD, two parts therein shall be cut off and die; but the third shall be left therein.
And in all the land, declares the LORD, two-thirds will be cut off and perish, but a third will be left in it.
And it shall come to pass in that day, that the light shall not be clear, nor dark:
On that day there will be no light, no cold or
frost.
But it shall be one day which shall be known to the LORD, not day, nor night: but it shall come to pass, that at evening time it shall be light.
It will be a day known only to the LORD, without day or night; but when evening comes, there will be light.
And it shall come to
pass in that day, that a great
tumult from the LORD shall be among them; and they shall lay hold every one on the hand of his neighbour, and his hand shall rise up against the hand of his neighbour.
On that day a great
panic from the LORD will come upon them, so that each will seize the hand of another, and the hand of one will rise against the other.
And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles.
Then all the survivors from the nations that came against Jerusalem will go up year after year to worship the King, the LORD of Hosts, and to
celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles.
For
verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth
pass, one
jot or one
tittle shall in no wise
pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
For I tell you truly, until heaven and earth
pass away, not a single
jot, not a stroke of a pen, will disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.
And it came to
pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were
astonished at his doctrine:
When Jesus had finished saying these things, the crowds were
astonished at His teaching,
And when he was come to the other side into the country of the Gergesenes, there met him two possessed with devils, coming out of the tombs, exceeding fierce, so that no man might pass by that way.
When Jesus arrived on the other side in the region of the Gadarenes, He was met by two
demon-possessed men coming from the tombs. They were so violent that no one could
pass that way.
And he entered into a ship, and passed over, and came into his own city.
Jesus got into a boat, crossed over, and came to His own town.
And as Jesus
passed forth from thence, he saw a man, named Matthew, sitting at the
receipt of custom: and he saith unto him, Follow me. And he arose, and followed him.
As Jesus went on from there, He saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax
booth. “Follow Me,” He told him, and Matthew got up and followed Him.
And it came to pass, as Jesus sat at meat in the house, behold, many publicans and sinners came and sat down with him and his disciples.
Later, as Jesus was
dining at Matthew’s house, many tax collectors and sinners came and
ate with Him and His disciples.
And it came to
pass, when Jesus had made an end of commanding his twelve disciples, he departed thence to teach and to
preach in their cities.
After Jesus had finished
instructing His twelve disciples, He went on from there to teach and
preach in their cities.
When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none.
When an unclean spirit comes out of a man, it
passes through
arid places seeking rest and does not find it.
And it came to pass, that when Jesus had finished these parables, he departed thence.
When Jesus had finished these parables, He withdrew from that place.
And it came to
pass, that when Jesus had finished these sayings, he departed from
Galilee, and came into the coasts of Judaea beyond Jordan;
When Jesus had finished saying these things, He left
Galilee and went into the region of
Judea beyond the Jordan.
And again I say unto you, It is easier for a
camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
Again I tell you, it is easier for a
camel to
pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.”
And, behold, two blind men sitting by the way side, when they heard that Jesus
passed by,
cried out, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, thou Son of David.
And there were two blind men sitting beside the road. When they heard that Jesus was
passing by, they
cried out, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!”
And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not
alarmed. These things must happen, but the end is still to come.
Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not
pass, till all these things be fulfilled.
Truly I tell you, this generation will not pass away until all these things have happened.
Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.
Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will never pass away.
And it came to pass, when Jesus had finished all these sayings, he said unto his disciples,
When Jesus had finished saying all these things, He told His disciples,
“You know that the
Passover is two days away, and the Son of Man will be handed over to be
crucified.”
Now the first day of the feast of
unleavened bread the disciples came to Jesus, saying unto him, Where
wilt thou that we prepare for thee to eat the
passover?
On the first day of the Feast of
Unleavened Bread, the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Where do You want us to prepare for You to eat the
Passover?”
And he said, Go into the city to such a man, and say unto him, The Master saith, My time is at hand; I will keep the
passover at thy house with my disciples.
He answered, “Go into the city to a certain man and tell him that the Teacher says, ‘My time is near. I will keep the
Passover with My disciples at your house.’”
And the disciples did as Jesus had appointed them; and they made ready the
passover.
So the disciples did as Jesus had directed them and prepared the
Passover.
And he went a little farther, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup
pass from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou
wilt.
Going a little farther, He fell facedown and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass from Me. Yet not as I will, but as You will.”
He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from me, except I drink it, thy will be done.
A second time He went away and prayed, “My Father, if this cup cannot pass unless I drink it, may Your will be done.”
And as he
passed by, he saw Levi the son of Alphaeus sitting at the
receipt of custom, and said unto him, Follow me. And he arose and followed him.
As He was walking along, He saw Levi son of Alphaeus sitting at the tax
booth. “Follow Me,” He told him, and Levi got up and followed Him.
And it came to pass, that, as Jesus sat at meat in his house, many publicans and sinners sat also together with Jesus and his disciples: for there were many, and they followed him.
While Jesus was
dining at Levi’s house, many tax collectors and sinners were eating with Him and His disciples—for there were many who followed Him.
And it came to
pass, that he went through the corn fields on the sabbath day; and his disciples began, as they went, to
pluck the ears of corn.
One Sabbath Jesus was
passing through the grainfields, and His disciples began to
pick the heads of grain as they walked along.
And it came to
pass, as he
sowed, some fell by the way side, and the fowls of the air came and
devoured it up.
And as he was
sowing, some seed fell along the path, and the birds came and
devoured it.
And the same day, when the even was come, he saith unto them, Let us pass over unto the other side.
When that evening came, He said to His disciples, “Let us cross to the other side.”
And when Jesus was
passed over again by ship unto the other side, much people gathered unto him: and he was
nigh unto the sea.
When Jesus had again crossed by boat to the other side, a large crowd gathered around Him beside the sea.
And when the day was now far spent, his disciples came unto him, and said, This is a desert place, and now the time is far passed:
By now the hour was already late. So the disciples came to Jesus and said, “This is a
desolate place, and the hour is already late.
And he saw them
toiling in rowing; for the wind was contrary unto them: and about the fourth watch of the night he cometh unto them, walking upon the sea, and would have
passed by them.
He could see that the disciples were straining to row, because the wind was against them. About the fourth watch of the night, Jesus went out to them, walking on the sea. He intended to pass by them,
And when they had passed over, they came into the land of Gennesaret, and drew to the shore.
When they had crossed over, they landed at Gennesaret and
moored the boat.
And they departed thence, and
passed through
Galilee; and he would not that any man should know it.
Going on from there, they
passed through
Galilee. But Jesus did not want
anyone to know,
It is easier for a
camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
It is easier for a
camel to
pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.”
And in the morning, as they passed by, they saw the fig tree dried up from the roots.
As they were walking back in the morning, they saw the fig tree
withered from its roots.
For
verily I say unto you, That
whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to
pass; he shall have
whatsoever he saith.
“Truly I tell you that if
anyone says to this mountain, ‘Be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and has no doubt in his heart but believes that it will happen, it will be done for him.
So ye in like manner, when ye shall see these things come to
pass, know that it is
nigh, even at the doors.
So also, when you see these things happening, know that He is near, right at the door.
Verily I say unto you, that this generation shall not
pass, till all these things be done.
Truly I tell you, this generation will not pass away until all these things have happened.
Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.
Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will never pass away.
After two days was the feast of the
passover, and of
unleavened bread: and the chief priests and the
scribes sought how they might take him by craft, and put him to death.
Now the
Passover and the Feast of
Unleavened Bread were two days away, and the chief priests and
scribes were looking for a
covert way to arrest Jesus and kill Him.
And the first day of
unleavened bread, when they killed the
passover, his disciples said unto him, Where
wilt thou that we go and prepare that thou mayest eat the
passover?
On the first day of the Feast of
Unleavened Bread, when the
Passover lamb was to be sacrificed, Jesus’ disciples asked Him, “Where do You want us to prepare for You to eat the
Passover?”
And
wheresoever he shall go in, say ye to the
goodman of the house, The Master saith, Where is the guestchamber, where I shall eat the
passover with my disciples?
and
whichever house he enters, say to the owner, ‘The Teacher asks: Where is My
guest room, where I may eat the
Passover with My disciples?’
And his disciples went forth, and came into the city, and found as he had said unto them: and they made ready the
passover.
So the disciples left and went into the city, where they found everything as Jesus had described. And they prepared the
Passover.
And he went forward a little, and fell on the ground, and prayed that, if it were possible, the hour might pass from him.
Going a little farther, He fell to the ground and prayed that, if it were possible, the hour would pass from Him.
And they
compel one Simon a
Cyrenian, who
passed by, coming out of the country, the father of Alexander and Rufus, to bear his cross.
Now Simon of
Cyrene, the father of Alexander and Rufus, was
passing by on his way in from the country, and the soldiers forced him to carry the cross of Jesus.
And they that
passed by railed on him,
wagging their heads, and saying,
Ah, thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days,
And those who
passed by
heaped abuse on Him,
shaking their heads and saying, “
Aha! You who are going to destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days,
And it came to pass, that while he executed the priest’s office before God in the order of his course,
One day while
Zechariah’s division was on duty and he was serving as priest before God,
And, behold, thou shalt be
dumb, and not able to speak, until the day that these things shall be performed, because thou believest not my words, which shall be fulfilled in their season.
And now you will be silent and unable to speak until the day this comes to pass, because you did not believe my words, which will be fulfilled at their proper time.”

pass, that, as soon as the days of his
ministration were accomplished, he departed to his own house.
And when the days of his service were complete, he returned home.
And it came to
pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the
salutation of Mary, the
babe leaped in her
womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost:

greeting, the
baby leaped in her
womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.
And it came to
pass, that on the eighth day they came to
circumcise the child; and they called him

Zechariah.

And it came to
pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the
shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto
Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to
pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us.
When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the
shepherds said to one another, “Let us go to
Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has made known to us.”
And when eight days were accomplished for the
circumcising of the child, his name was called JESUS, which was so named of the angel before he was conceived in the
womb.
When the eight days until His
circumcision had
passed, He was named Jesus, the name the angel had given Him before He had been conceived.
Now his parents went to Jerusalem every year at the feast of the
passover.
Every year His parents went to Jerusalem for the Feast of the
Passover.
