So they sent and gathered together all the lords of the Philistines, and said, Send away the ark of the God of Israel, and let it go again to his own place, that it
slay us not, and our people: for there was a deadly destruction throughout all the city; the hand of God was very heavy there.
Then the Ekronites assembled all the rulers of the Philistines and said, “Send away the ark of the God of Israel. It must
return to its place, so that it will not kill us and our people!” For a deadly confusion had
pervaded the city; the hand of God was heavy upon it.
And they said, If ye send away the ark of the God of Israel, send it not empty; but in any wise
return him a
trespass offering: then ye shall be
healed, and it shall be known to you why his hand is not removed from you.
They replied, “If you
return the ark of the God of Israel, do not send it away empty, but by all means
return it to Him with a guilt offering. Then you will be
healed, and you will understand why His hand has not been lifted from you.”
Then said they, What shall be the
trespass offering which we shall
return to him? They answered, Five golden
emerods, and five golden
mice, according to the number of the lords of the Philistines: for one plague was on you all, and on your lords.
“What guilt offering should we send back to Him?” asked the Philistines. “Five gold tumors and five gold rats,” they said, “according to the number of rulers of the Philistines, since the same plague has struck both you and your rulers.
And take the ark of the LORD, and lay it upon the
cart; and put the jewels of gold, which ye
return him for a
trespass offering, in a
coffer by the side thereof; and send it away, that it may go.
Take the ark of the LORD, set it on the
cart, and in a chest beside it put the gold objects you are sending Him as a guilt offering. Then send the ark on its way,
And when the five lords of the Philistines had seen it, they
returned to
Ekron the same day.
And when the five rulers of the Philistines saw this, they
returned to
Ekron that same day.

tumor for each city:
Ashdod,
Gaza, Ashkelon,
Gath, and
Ekron.
And they sent messengers to the inhabitants of Kirjath-jearim, saying, The Philistines have brought again the ark of the LORD; come ye down, and

return unto the LORD with all your hearts, then put away the strange gods and
Ashtaroth from among you, and prepare your hearts unto the LORD, and serve him only: and he will deliver you out of the hand of the Philistines.
Then Samuel said to all the house of Israel, “If you are
returning to the LORD with all your hearts, then rid
yourselves of the foreign gods and Ashtoreths among you, prepare your hearts for the LORD, and serve Him only. And He will deliver you from the hand of the Philistines.”
And his
return was to
Ramah; for there was his house; and there he judged Israel; and there he built an altar unto the LORD.
Then he would
return to
Ramah because his home was there, and there he judged Israel and built an altar to the LORD.
And when they were come to the land of Zuph, Saul said to his servant that was with him, Come, and let us
return; lest my father leave caring for the
asses, and take thought for us.
When they reached the land of Zuph, Saul said to his servant, “Come, let us go back, or my father will stop
worrying about the
donkeys and start
worrying about us.”
And, behold, Saul came after the
herd out of the field; and Saul said, What aileth the people that they
weep? And they told him the
tidings of the men of
Jabesh.
Just then Saul was
returning from the field, behind his oxen. “What troubles the people?” asked Saul. “Why are they
weeping?” And they relayed to him the words of the men from
Jabesh.
Then Saul went up from following the Philistines: and the Philistines went to their own place.
Then Saul gave up his pursuit of the Philistines, and the Philistines returned to their own land.

pardon my sin, and turn again with me, that I may worship the LORD.

forgive my sin and
return with me so I can worship the LORD.”

returned from their pursuit of the Philistines, they
plundered their camps.
And as David
returned from the slaughter of the
Philistine,
Abner took him, and brought him before Saul with the head of the
Philistine in his hand.
So when David
returned from killing the
Philistine, still holding his head in his hand,
Abner took him and brought him before Saul.
And Saul took him that day, and would let him go no more home to his father’s house.
And from that day Saul kept David with him and did not let him return to his father’s house.
And it came to pass as they came, when David was
returned from the slaughter of the
Philistine, that the women came out of all cities of Israel, singing and dancing, to meet king Saul, with tabrets, with joy, and with instruments of musick.

returning home after David had killed the
Philistine, the women came out of all the cities of Israel to meet King Saul with singing and dancing, with joyful songs, and with tambourines and other instruments.

Abigail came to Nabal; and, behold, he held a feast in his house, like the feast of a king; and Nabal’s heart was
merry within him, for he was very
drunken: wherefore she told him nothing, less or more, until the morning light.
When
Abigail returned to Nabal, there he was in the house, holding a feast fit for a king, in high spirits and very
drunk. So she told him nothing until morning light.
And when David heard that Nabal was dead, he said, Blessed be the LORD, that hath
pleaded the cause of my reproach from the hand of Nabal, and hath kept his servant from evil: for the LORD hath
returned the wickedness of Nabal upon his own head. And David sent and communed with
Abigail, to take her to him to wife.
On hearing that Nabal was dead, David said, “Blessed be the LORD, who has
upheld my cause against the reproach of Nabal and has restrained His servant from evil. For the LORD has brought the wickedness of Nabal down upon his own head.” Then David sent word to
Abigail, asking for her in marriage.
Then said Saul, I have
sinned:
return, my son David: for I will no more do thee
harm, because my soul was precious in thine eyes this day: behold, I have played the
fool, and have
erred exceedingly.
Then Saul replied, “I have
sinned. Come back, David my son. I will never
harm you again, because
today you considered my life precious. I have played the
fool and have committed a grave error!”
Then Saul said to David, Blessed be thou, my son David: thou shalt both do great things, and also shalt still prevail. So David went on his way, and Saul returned to his place.
Saul said to him, “May you be blessed, David my son. You will
accomplish great things and will surely prevail.” So David went on his way, and Saul
returned home.
And David
smote the land, and left neither man nor woman alive, and took away the sheep, and the oxen, and the
asses, and the camels, and the
apparel, and
returned, and came to Achish.

donkeys, camels, and clothing. Then he would
return to Achish,
And the princes of the Philistines were
wroth with him; and the princes of the Philistines said unto him, Make this fellow
return, that he may go again to his place which thou hast appointed him, and let him not go down with us to battle, lest in the battle he be an
adversary to us: for
wherewith should he
reconcile himself unto his master? should it not be with the heads of these men?
But the commanders of the Philistines were
angry with Achish and told him, “Send that man back and let him
return to the place you assigned him. He must not go down with us into battle only to become our
adversary during the war. What better way for him to regain the favor of his master than with the heads of our men?
Wherefore now return, and go in peace, that thou displease not the lords of the Philistines.
Therefore turn back now and go in peace, so that you will not do anything to displease the leaders of the Philistines.”
So David and his men rose up early to depart in the morning, to

valiant men arose, and went all night, and took the body of Saul and the bodies of his sons from the wall of Beth-shan, and came to
Jabesh, and burnt them there.

valor set out, journeyed all night, and
retrieved the bodies of Saul and his sons from the wall of Beth-shan. When they arrived at

Now it came to pass after the death of Saul, when David was

From the blood of the slain, from the fat of the mighty, the bow of
Jonathan turned not back, and the sword of Saul
returned not empty.
From the blood of the slain, from the fat of the mighty, the bow of
Jonathan did not
retreat, and the sword of Saul did not
return empty.
Then
Abner called to
Joab, and said, Shall the sword
devour for ever? knowest thou not that it will be bitterness in the latter end? how long shall it be then,
ere thou
bid the people
return from following their brethren?
Then
Abner called out to
Joab: “Must the sword
devour forever? Do you not
realize that this will only end in bitterness? How long before you tell the troops to stop pursuing their brothers?”
And
Joab returned from following
Abner: and when he had gathered all the people together, there lacked of David’s servants
nineteen men and
Asahel.
When
Joab returned from pursuing
Abner, he gathered all the troops. In addition to
Asahel,
nineteen of David’s servants were missing,
And her husband went with her along
weeping behind her to Bahurim. Then said
Abner unto him, Go,
return. And he
returned.
Her husband followed her,
weeping all the way to Bahurim. Then
Abner said to him, “Go back.” So he
returned home.
And, Behold, the servants of David and
Joab came from pursuing a
troop, and brought in a great
spoil with them: but
Abner was not with David in
Hebron; for he had sent him away, and he was gone in peace.
Just then David’s soldiers and
Joab returned from a
raid, bringing with them a great
plunder. But
Abner was not with David in
Hebron because David had sent him on his way in peace.
And when
Abner was
returned to
Hebron,
Joab took him aside in the gate to speak with him quietly, and
smote him there under the fifth rib, that he died, for the blood of
Asahel his brother.
Then David
returned to
bless his household. And Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David, and said, How glorious was the king of Israel
today, who uncovered himself to day in the eyes of the handmaids of his servants, as one of the vain fellows
shamelessly uncovereth himself!
As soon as David
returned home to
bless his own household, Saul’s daughter Michal came out to meet him. “How the king of Israel has distinguished himself
today!” she said. “He has uncovered himself
today in the sight of the maidservants of his subjects, like a vulgar person would do.”
And David
gat him a name when he
returned from
smiting of the Syrians in the valley of salt, being eighteen thousand men.
And David made a name for himself when he returned from striking down eighteen thousand Edomites in the Valley of Salt.
When they told it unto David, he sent to meet them, because the men were greatly
ashamed: and the king said,
Tarry at
Jericho until your beards be grown, and then
return.
When this was reported to David, he sent messengers to meet the men, since they had been thoroughly
humiliated. The king told them, “Stay in
Jericho until your beards have grown back, and then
return.”
And when the children of
Ammon saw that the Syrians were fled, then fled they also before
Abishai, and entered into the city. So
Joab returned from the children of
Ammon, and came to Jerusalem.
When the
Ammonites saw that the Arameans had fled, they too fled before
Abishai, and they entered the city. So
Joab returned from fighting against the
Ammonites and came to Jerusalem.
And David sent messengers, and took her; and she came in unto him, and he lay with her; for she was
purified from her uncleanness: and she
returned unto her house.
Then David sent messengers to get her, and when she came to him, he
slept with her. (Now she had just
purified herself from her uncleanness.) Then she
returned home.
And he wrote in the letter, saying, Set ye Uriah in the
forefront of the hottest battle, and
retire ye from him, that he may be
smitten, and die.
In the letter he wrote: “Put Uriah at the front of the fiercest battle; then withdraw from him, so that he may be struck down and killed.”
But now he is dead, wherefore should I fast? can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he shall not return to me.
But now that he is dead, why should I fast? Can I bring him back again? I will go to him, but he will not return to me.”
And he brought forth the people that were therein, and put them under saws, and under harrows of iron, and under axes of iron, and made them pass through the
brickkiln: and thus did he unto all the cities of the children of
Ammon. So David and all the people
returned unto Jerusalem.
David brought out the people who were there and put them to work with saws, iron picks, and axes, and he made them work at the brick kilns. He did the same to all the
Ammonite cities. Then David and all his troops
returned to Jerusalem.
And the king said, Let him turn to his own house, and let him not see my face. So
Absalom returned to his own house, and saw not the king’s face.
But the king added, “He may
return to his house, but he must not see my face.” So
Absalom returned to his own house, but he did not see the king.
Then said the king to Ittai the Gittite, Wherefore goest thou also with us?
return to thy place, and
abide with the king: for thou art a stranger, and also an exile.
Then the king said to Ittai the Gittite, “Why should you also go with us? Go back and stay with the new king, since you are both a foreigner and an exile from your homeland.
Whereas thou camest but
yesterday, should I this day make thee go up and down with us? seeing I go
whither I may,
return thou, and take back thy brethren: mercy and truth be with thee.
In fact, you arrived only
yesterday; should I make you
wander around with us
today while I do not know where I am going? Go back and take your brothers with you. May the LORD show you loving devotion and faithfulness.”
And the king said unto
Zadok, Carry back the ark of God into the city: if I shall find favour in the eyes of the LORD, he will bring me again, and
shew me both it, and his
habitation:
Then the king said to
Zadok, “
Return the ark of God to the city. If I find favor in the eyes of the LORD, He will bring me back and let me see both it and His dwelling place again.
The king said also unto
Zadok the priest, Art not thou a
seer?
return into the city in peace, and your two sons with you,
Ahimaaz thy son, and
Jonathan the son of
Abiathar.
So
Zadok and
Abiathar returned the ark of God to Jerusalem and stayed there.
But if thou
return to the city, and say unto
Absalom, I will be thy servant, O king; as I have been thy father’s servant hitherto, so will I now also be thy servant: then mayest thou for me defeat the counsel of
Ahithophel.
But you can
thwart the counsel of
Ahithophel for me if you
return to the city and say to
Absalom: ‘I will be your servant, my king; in the past I was your father’s servant, but now I will be your servant.’
The LORD hath
returned upon thee all the blood of the house of Saul, in whose
stead thou hast reigned; and the LORD hath delivered the kingdom into the hand of
Absalom thy son: and, behold, thou art taken in thy mischief, because thou art a
bloody man.
The LORD has paid you back for all the blood of the house of Saul, in whose place you have reigned, and the LORD has delivered the kingdom into the hand of your son
Absalom. See, you have come to ruin because you are a man of
bloodshed!”
And I will bring back all the people unto thee: the man whom thou seekest is as if all returned: so all the people shall be in peace.
and bring all the people back to you as a
bride returning to her husband. You seek the life of only one man; then all the people will be at peace.”
Moreover, if he be
gotten into a city, then shall all Israel bring ropes to that city, and we will draw it into the river, until there be not one small stone found there.
If he
retreats to a city, all Israel will bring ropes to that city, and we will
drag it down to the valley until not even a
pebble can be found.”
And when
Absalom’s servants came to the woman to the house, they said, Where is
Ahimaaz and
Jonathan? And the woman said unto them, They be gone over the
brook of water. And when they had sought and could not find them, they
returned to Jerusalem.
When
Absalom’s servants came to the woman at the house, they asked, “Where are
Ahimaaz and
Jonathan?” “They have crossed over the
brook,” she replied. The men searched but did not find them, so they
returned to Jerusalem.
And
Joab blew the
trumpet, and the people
returned from pursuing after Israel: for
Joab held back the people.
Then
Joab blew the ram’s horn, and the troops broke off their pursuit of Israel because
Joab had restrained them.
And he bowed the heart of all the men of Judah, even as the heart of one man; so that they sent this word unto the king, Return thou, and all thy servants.
So he
swayed the hearts of all the men of Judah as though they were one man, and they sent word to the king: “
Return, you and all your servants.”
So the king
returned, and came to Jordan. And Judah came to
Gilgal, to go to meet the king, to conduct the king over Jordan.
So the king
returned, and when he arrived at the Jordan, the men of Judah came to
Gilgal to meet him and
escort him across the Jordan.
And Mephibosheth the son of Saul came down to meet the king, and had neither dressed his feet, nor
trimmed his
beard, nor washed his clothes, from the day the king departed until the day he came again in peace.
Then Mephibosheth, Saul’s grandson, went down to meet the king. He had not cared for his feet or
trimmed his
mustache or washed his clothes from the day the king had left until the day he
returned safely.
Let thy servant, I pray thee, turn back again, that I may die in mine own city, and be buried by the grave of my father and of my mother. But behold thy servant Chimham; let him go over with my lord the king; and do to him what shall seem good unto thee.
Please let your servant return, that I may die in my own city near the tomb of my father and mother. But here is your servant Chimham. Let him cross over with my lord the king, and do for him what is good in your sight.”
And all the people went over Jordan. And when the king was come over, the king
kissed Barzillai, and blessed him; and he
returned unto his own place.
So all the people crossed the Jordan, and then the king crossed over. The king
kissed Barzillai and blessed him, and Barzillai
returned home.
And David came to his house at Jerusalem; and the king took the ten women his concubines, whom he had left to keep the house, and put them in ward, and fed them, but went not in unto them. So they were shut up unto the day of their death, living in
widowhood.
When David
returned to his palace in Jerusalem, he took the ten concubines he had left to care for the palace, and he placed them in a house under guard. He provided for them, but he no longer
slept with them. They were confined until the day of their death, living as widows.
Then the woman went unto all the people in her wisdom. And they cut off the head of
Sheba the son of Bichri, and cast it out to
Joab. And he
blew a
trumpet, and they
retired from the city, every man to his tent. And
Joab returned to Jerusalem unto the king.
Then the woman went to all the people with her wise counsel, and they cut off the head of
Sheba son of Bichri and threw it to
Joab. So he
blew the ram’s horn and his men
dispersed from the city, each to his own home. And
Joab returned to the king in Jerusalem.
Thou hast also given me the necks of mine enemies, that I might destroy them that
hate me.
You have made my enemies
retreat before me; I put an end to those who
hated me.
And after him was
Eleazar the son of
Dodo the Ahohite, one of the three mighty men with David, when they
defied the Philistines that were there gathered together to battle, and the men of Israel were gone away:
Next in command was
Eleazar son of
Dodo the Ahohite. As one of the three mighty men, he went with David to
taunt the Philistines who had gathered for battle at
Pas-dammim. The men of Israel
retreated,
He arose, and
smote the Philistines until his hand was
weary, and his hand
clave unto the sword: and the LORD wrought a great victory that day; and the people
returned after him only to
spoil.
but
Eleazar stood his ground and struck the Philistines until his hand grew
weary and
stuck to his sword. The LORD brought about a great victory that day. Then the troops
returned to him, but only to
plunder the dead.
So when they had gone through all the land, they came to Jerusalem at the end of nine months and twenty days.
At the end of nine months and twenty days, having gone through the whole land, they returned to Jerusalem.
So
Gad came to David, and told him, and said unto him, Shall seven years of famine come unto thee in thy land? or
wilt thou
flee three months before thine enemies, while they pursue thee? or that there be three days’
pestilence in thy land? now
advise, and see what answer I shall
return to him that sent me.
So
Gad went and said to David, “Do you choose to
endure three years of famine in your land, three months of
fleeing the pursuit of your enemies, or three days of plague upon your land? Now then, think it over and decide how I should reply to Him who sent me.”
And the LORD shall
return his blood upon his own head, who fell upon two men more righteous and better than he, and
slew them with the sword, my father David not knowing thereof, to wit,
Abner the son of
Ner, captain of the host of Israel, and
Amasa the son of Jether, captain of the host of Judah.
The LORD will bring his
bloodshed back upon his own head, for without the knowledge of my father David he struck down two men more righteous and better than he when he put to the sword
Abner son of
Ner, commander of Israel’s army, and
Amasa son of Jether, commander of Judah’s army.
Their blood shall therefore
return upon the head of
Joab, and upon the head of his seed for ever: but upon David, and upon his seed, and upon his house, and upon his throne, shall there be peace for ever from the LORD.
Their blood will come back upon the heads of
Joab and his descendants
forever; but for David, his descendants, his house, and his throne, there shall be peace from the LORD
forever.”
And it was told Solomon that Shimei had gone from Jerusalem to
Gath, and was come again.
When Solomon was told that Shimei had gone from Jerusalem to
Gath and had
returned,
The king said moreover to Shimei, Thou knowest all the wickedness which thine heart is privy to, that thou
didst to David my father: therefore the LORD shall
return thy wickedness upon thine own head;
The king also said, “You know in your heart all the evil that you did to my father David. Therefore the LORD will bring your evil back upon your head.
And Solomon
awoke; and, behold, it was a dream. And he came to Jerusalem, and stood before the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and offered up burnt offerings, and offered peace offerings, and made a feast to all his servants.
Then Solomon
awoke, and indeed it had been a dream. So he
returned to Jerusalem, stood before the ark of the covenant of the Lord, and offered burnt offerings and peace offerings. Then he held a feast for all his servants.
When thy people Israel be
smitten down before the enemy, because they have
sinned against thee, and shall turn again to thee, and
confess thy name, and pray, and make
supplication unto thee in this house:
When Your people Israel are defeated before an enemy because they have
sinned against You, and they
return to You and
confess Your name, praying and
pleading with You in this temple,
And so
return unto thee with all their heart, and with all their soul, in the land of their enemies, which led them away
captive, and pray unto thee toward their land, which thou gavest unto their fathers, the city which thou hast chosen, and the house which I have built for thy name:
and when they
return to You with all their heart and soul in the land of the enemies who took them
captive, and when they pray to You in the direction of the land that You gave to their fathers, the city You have chosen, and the house I have built for Your Name,
And king Solomon gave unto the queen of
Sheba all her desire,
whatsoever she asked, beside that which Solomon gave her of his royal
bounty. So she turned and went to her own country, she and her servants.
King Solomon gave the queen of
Sheba all she desired—whatever she asked—besides what he had given her out of his royal
bounty. Then she left and
returned to her own country, along with her servants.
And when
Hadad heard in Egypt that David
slept with his fathers, and that
Joab the captain of the host was dead,
Hadad said to Pharaoh, Let me depart, that I may go to mine own country.
When
Hadad heard in Egypt that David had rested with his fathers and that
Joab, the commander of the army, was dead, he said to Pharaoh, “Let me go, that I may
return to my own country.”
And he said unto them, Depart yet for three days, then come again to me. And the people departed.
Rehoboam answered, “Go away for three days and then
return to me.” So the people departed.
So
Jeroboam and all the people came to
Rehoboam the third day, as the king had appointed, saying, Come to me again the third day.
After three days,
Jeroboam and all the people
returned to
Rehoboam, since the king had said, “Come back to me on the third day.”
And it came to pass, when all Israel heard that
Jeroboam was come again, that they sent and called him unto the congregation, and made him king over all Israel: there was none that followed the house of David, but the tribe of Judah only.
When all Israel heard that
Jeroboam had
returned, they summoned him to the assembly and made him king over all Israel. Only the tribe of Judah followed the house of David.
Thus saith the LORD, Ye shall not go up, nor fight against your brethren the children of Israel:
return every man to his house; for this thing is from me. They
hearkened therefore to the word of the LORD, and
returned to depart, according to the word of the LORD.
that this is what the LORD says: ‘You are not to go up and fight against your brothers, the Israelites. Each of you must
return home, for this word is from Me.’” So they
listened to the word of the LORD and turned back according to the word of the LORD.
And
Jeroboam said in his heart, Now shall the kingdom
return to the house of David:
Jeroboam said in his heart, “Now the kingdom might
revert to the house of David.
If this people go up to do sacrifice in the house of the LORD at Jerusalem, then shall the heart of this people turn again unto their lord, even unto
Rehoboam king of Judah, and they shall kill me, and go again to
Rehoboam king of Judah.
If these people go up to offer sacrifices in the house of the LORD at Jerusalem, their hearts will
return to their lord,
Rehoboam king of Judah; then they will kill me and
return to
Rehoboam king of Judah.”
For so was it charged me by the word of the LORD, saying, Eat no bread, nor drink water, nor turn again by the same way that thou camest.
For this is what I was commanded by the word of the LORD: ‘You must not eat bread or drink water or return by the way you came.’”
So he went another way, and
returned not by the way that he came to
Bethel.
So the man of God went another way and did not
return by the way he had come to
Bethel.
And he said, I may not return with thee, nor go in with thee: neither will I eat bread nor drink water with thee in this place:
But the man replied, “I cannot return with you or eat bread or drink water with you in this place.
For it was said to me by the word of the LORD, Thou shalt eat no bread nor drink water there, nor turn again to go by the way that thou camest.
For I have been told by the word of the LORD: ‘You must not eat bread or drink water there or return by the way you came.’”
After this thing
Jeroboam returned not from his evil way, but made again of the lowest of the people priests of the high places:
whosoever would, he consecrated him, and he became one of the priests of the high places.
Even after these events,
Jeroboam did not
repent of his evil ways, but again he appointed priests for the high places from every class of people. He ordained
anyone who desired to be a priest of the high places.
And it was so, when the king went into the house of the LORD, that the guard bare them, and brought them back into the guard chamber.
And whenever the king entered the house of the LORD, the guards would bear the shields, and later they would
return them to the

And he stretched himself upon the child three times, and
cried unto the LORD, and said, O LORD my God, I pray thee, let this child’s soul come into him again.
Then he stretched himself out over the child three times and
cried out to the LORD, “O LORD my God, please let this boy’s life
return to him!”
And the LORD heard the voice of
Elijah; and the soul of the child came into him again, and he revived.
And the LORD
listened to the voice of
Elijah, and the child’s life
returned to him, and he lived.
And the angel of the LORD came again the second time, and touched him, and said, Arise and eat; because the journey is too great for thee.
A second time the angel of the LORD returned and touched him, saying, “Get up and eat, or the journey will be too much for you.”
And the LORD said unto him, Go,
return on thy way to the wilderness of Damascus: and when thou comest,

Then the LORD said to him, “Go back by the way you came, and go to the Desert of Damascus. When you arrive, you are to
anoint Hazael as king over
Aram.
And he
returned back from him, and took a yoke of oxen, and
slew them, and boiled their flesh with the instruments of the oxen, and gave unto the people, and they did eat. Then he arose, and went after
Elijah, and ministered unto him.
So
Elisha turned back from him, took his pair of oxen, and slaughtered them. With the oxen’s
equipment, he
cooked the meat and gave it to the people, and they
ate. Then he set out to follow and serve
Elijah.
And the prophet came to the king of Israel, and said unto him, Go,
strengthen thyself, and mark, and see what thou doest: for at the
return of the year the king of Syria will come up against thee.
Afterward, the prophet approached the king of Israel and said, “Go and
strengthen your position, and take note what you must do, for in the spring the king of
Aram will come up against you.”
And it came to pass at the
return of the year, that Ben-
hadad numbered the Syrians, and went up to Aphek, to fight against Israel.
In the spring, Ben-
hadad mobilized the Arameans and went up to Aphek to fight against Israel.
