shall touch you.

glad for the children of the just: for they
shall be gathered together, and
shall bless the Lord of the just.

shall rejoice in thy peace: blessed are they which have been sorrowful for all thy scourges; for they
shall rejoice for thee, when they have seen all thy glory, and
shall be
glad for ever.

Go into Media my son, for I surely believe those things which
Jonas the prophet spake of Nineve, that it
shall be overthrown; and that for a time peace
shall rather be in Media; and that our brethren
shall lie scattered in the earth from that good land: and Jerusalem
shall be
desolate, and the house of God in it
shall be burned, and
shall be
desolate for a time;
And that again God will have mercy on them, and bring them again into the land, where they shall build a temple, but not like to the first, until the time of that age be fulfilled; and afterward they shall return from all places of their captivity, and build up Jerusalem gloriously, and the house of God shall be built in it for ever with a glorious building, as the prophets have spoken thereof.
And all nations
shall turn, and fear the Lord God truly, and
shall bury their idols.
So
shall all nations praise the Lord, and his people
shall confess God, and the Lord
shall exalt his people; and all those which love the Lord God in truth and justice
shall rejoice,
shewing mercy to our brethren.
And now, my son, depart out of Nineve, because that those things which the prophet
Jonas spake
shall surely come to pass.
Thus saith the great king, the lord of the whole earth, Behold, thou
shalt go forth from my presence, and take with thee men that trust in their own strength, of
footmen an hundred and twenty thousand; and the number of horses with their riders twelve thousand.
And thou shalt go against all the west country, because they disobeyed my commandment.
And thou
shalt declare unto that they prepare for me earth and water: for I will go forth in my wrath against them and will cover the whole face of the earth with the feet of mine army, and I will give them for a
spoil unto them:
So that their slain
shall fill their valleys and
brooks and the river
shall be filled with their dead, till it overflow:
Thou therefore
shalt go forth. and take
beforehand for me all their coasts: and if they will yield themselves unto thee, thou
shalt reserve them for me till the day of their punishment.

sustain the power of our horses.
For with them we will
tread them under foot, and their mountains
shall be
drunken with their blood, and their fields
shall be filled with their dead bodies, and their footsteps
shall not be able to stand before us, for they
shall utterly perish, saith king Nabuchodonosor, lord of all the earth: for he said, None of my words
shall be in vain.
And thou, Achior, an
hireling of
Ammon, which hast spoken these words in the day of thine iniquity,
shalt see my face no more from this day, until I take
vengeance of this nation that came out of Egypt.

persuade thyself in thy mind that they
shall be taken, let not thy countenance fall: I have spoken it, and none of my words
shall be in vain.

array, and there
shall not so much as one man of thy people perish.

whither goest thou? And she said, I am a woman of the Hebrews, and am fled from them: for they
shall be given you to be consumed:
And I am coming before Holofernes the chief captain of your army, to declare words of truth; and I will
shew him a way, whereby he
shall go, and
win all the hill country, without losing the body or life of any one of his men.
Thou hast saved thy life, in that thou hast hasted to come down to the presence of our lord: now therefore come to his tent, and some of us shall conduct thee, until they have delivered thee to his hands.
But now tell me wherefore thou art fled from them, and art come unto us: for thou art come for
safeguard; be of good comfort, thou
shalt live this night, and
hereafter:
For none
shall hurt thee, but
entreat thee well, as they do the servants of king Nabuchodonosor my lord.
And if thou
wilt follow the words of thine
handmaid, God will bring the thing perfectly to pass by thee; and my lord
shall not fail of his purposes.
As Nabuchodonosor king of all the earth liveth, and as his power liveth, who hath sent thee for the upholding of every living thing: for not only men shall serve him by thee, but also the beasts of the field, and the cattle, and the fowls of the air, shall live by thy power under Nabuchodonosor and all his house.
Therefore, O lord and governor, respect not his word; but lay it up in thine heart, for it is true: for our nation shall not be punished, neither can sword prevail against them, except they sin against their God.
And now, that my lord be not defeated and
frustrate of his purpose, even death is now fallen upon them, and their sin hath overtaken them,
wherewith they will
provoke their God to anger
whensoever they
shall do that which is not fit to be done:
Now when they
shall bring them word, they will
forthwith do it, and they
shall be given to thee to be destroyed the same day.
Wherefore I thine
handmaid, knowing all this, am fled from their presence; and God hath sent me to work things with thee,
whereat all the earth
shall be
astonished, and
whosoever shall hear it.
And I will come and
shew it unto thee: then thou
shalt go forth with all thine army, and there
shall be none of them that
shall resist thee.
And I will lead thee through the midst of
Judea, until thou come before Jerusalem; and I will set thy throne in the midst thereof; and thou
shalt drive them as sheep that have no
shepherd, and a dog
shall not so much as open his mouth at thee: for these things were told me according to my
foreknowledge, and they were declared unto me, and I am sent to tell thee.
And now thou art both beautiful in thy countenance, and
witty in thy words: surely if thou do as thou hast spoken thy God
shall be my God, and thou
shalt dwell in the house of king Nabuchodonosor, and
shalt be
renowned through the whole earth.
And
Judith said, I will not eat thereof, lest there be an offence: but provision
shall be made for me of the things that I have brought.

Judith unto him As thy soul liveth, my lord, thine
handmaid shall not
spend those things that I have, before the Lord work by mine hand the things that he hath determined.
For, lo, it will be a shame for our person, if we
shall let such a woman go, not having had her company; for if we draw her not unto us, she will
laugh us to
scorn.
Then said
Judith unto him, Who am I now, that I should
gainsay my lord? surely
whatsoever pleaseth him I will do speedily, and it
shall be my joy unto the day of my death.
For this thy confidence shall not depart from the heart of men, which remember the power of God for ever.
And so soon as the morning
shall appear, and the sun
shall come forth upon the earth, take ye every one his weapons, and go forth every
valiant man out of the city, and set ye a captain over them, as though ye would go down into the field toward the watch of the Assyrians; but go not down.
Then they
shall take their armour, and
shall go into their camp, and raise up the captains of the army of Assur, and
shall run to the tent of Holofernes, but
shall not find him: then fear
shall fall upon them, and they
shall flee before your face.
So ye, and all that inhabit the coast of Israel, shall pursue them, and overthrow them as they go.

Judith’s feet, and reverenced her, and said, Blessed art thou in all the tabernacles of Juda, and in all nations, which hearing thy name
shall be
astonished.

shall be moved from their foundations with the waters, the rocks
shall melt as wax at thy presence: yet thou art
merciful to them that fear thee.

shall be unto them in the month
Adar, the
fourteenth and

Therefore have we commanded, that all they that are
signified in writing unto you by Aman, who is ordained over the affairs, and is next unto us,
shall all, with their wives and children, be utterly destroyed by the sword of their enemies, without all mercy and
pity, the
fourteenth day of the
twelfth month
Adar of this present year:
Thou shalt not die, though our our commandment be general: come near.
Wherefore ye shall do well not to put in execution the letters sent unto you by Aman the son of Amadatha.
Therefore ye
shall publish the copy of this letter in all places, that the Jews may freely live after their own laws.
Ye shall therefore among your solemn feasts keep it an high day with all feasting:
Therefore every city and country
whatsoever, which
shall not do according to these things,
shall be destroyed without mercy with fire and sword, and
shall be made not only unpassable for men, but also most
hateful to wild beasts and fowls for ever.
For into a
malicious soul wisdom
shall not enter; nor dwell in the body that is subject unto sin.
Therefore he that speaketh unrighteous things cannot be
hid: neither
shall vengeance, when it punisheth, pass by him.
For
inquisition shall be made into the counsels of the ungodly: and the sound of his words
shall come unto the Lord for the
manifestation of his wicked deeds.
Therefore
beware of
murmuring, which is unprofitable; and
refrain your tongue from
backbiting: for there is no word so secret, that
shall go for
nought: and the mouth that belieth slayeth the soul.
For we are born at all
adventure: and we
shall be
hereafter as though we had never been: for the breath in our nostrils is as smoke, and a little
spark in the moving of our heart:
Which being
extinguished, our body
shall be turned into ashes, and our spirit
shall vanish as the soft air,
And our name
shall be forgotten in time, and no man
shall have our works in
remembrance, and our life
shall pass away as the trace of a cloud, and
shall be
dispersed as a
mist, that is driven away with the beams of the sun, and overcome with the heat thereof.
Let us see if his words be true: and let us prove what shall happen in the end of him.
Let us
condemn him with a shameful death: for by his own saying he
shall be respected.

shall no
torment touch them.

chastised, they
shall be greatly rewarded: for God proved them, and found them worthy for himself.
They shall judge the nations, and have dominion over the people, and their Lord shall reign for ever.
They that put their trust in him
shall understand the truth: and such as be faithful in love
shall abide with him: for grace and mercy is to his saints, and he hath care for his
elect.
But the ungodly
shall be punished according to their own imaginations, which have neglected the righteous, and
forsaken the Lord.
Their offspring is
cursed. Wherefore blessed is the barren that is
undefiled, which hath not known the sinful bed: she
shall have fruit in the
visitation of souls.
And blessed is the
eunuch, which with his hands hath wrought no iniquity, nor imagined wicked things against God: for unto him
shall be given the special gift of faith, and an inheritance in the temple of the Lord more acceptable to his mind.
For glorious is the fruit of good labours: and the root of wisdom shall never fall away.
As for the children of adulterers, they shall not come to their perfection, and the seed of an unrighteous bed shall be rooted out.
For though they live long, yet shall they be nothing regarded: and their last age shall be without honour.
But the multiplying
brood of the ungodly
shall not
thrive, nor take deep rooting from
bastard slips, nor lay any fast foundation.
For though they
flourish in branches for a time; yet standing not last, they
shall be
shaken with the wind, and through the force of winds they
shall be rooted out.
The imperfect branches
shall be broken off, their fruit unprofitable, not ripe to eat,
yea, meet for nothing.
