stone or
encroach on the fields of the fatherless,

stones, and a time to gather
stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to

stones and a time to gather
stones together, a time to embrace and a time to
refrain from embracing,

hang a thousand bucklers, all shields of mighty men.

hang a thousand shields, all of them shields of warriors.

fenced it, and gathered out the
stones thereof, and planted it with the choicest vine, and built a tower in the midst of it, and also made a winepress therein: and he looked that it should bring forth grapes, and it brought forth wild grapes.
He
dug it up and cleared the
stones and planted the finest vines. He built a
watchtower in the middle and
dug out a winepress as well. He waited for the
vineyard to yield good grapes, but the fruit it produced was
sour!

stone of
stumbling and for a rock of offence to both the houses of Israel, for a

snare.

dumped into a rocky pit like a
carcass trampled underfoot.
By this therefore shall the iniquity of Jacob be
purged; and this is all the fruit to take away his sin; when he maketh all the
stones of the altar as chalkstones that are beaten in
sunder, the groves and images shall not stand up.
Therefore Jacob’s guilt will be
atoned for, and the full fruit of the removal of his sin will be this: When he makes all the altar
stones like
crushed bits of chalk, no Asherah poles or incense altars will remain standing.
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I lay in
Zion for a foundation a
stone, a tried
stone, a precious corner
stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make
haste.

stone in
Zion, a tested
stone, a precious cornerstone, a sure foundation; the one who believes will never be
shaken.
But the
cormorant and the
bittern shall possess it; the
owl also and the
raven shall dwell in it: and he shall stretch out upon it the line of confusion, and the
stones of
emptiness.
The desert
owl and
screech owl will possess it, and the great
owl and
raven will dwell in it. The LORD will stretch out over
Edom a measuring line of
chaos and a
plumb line of destruction.
And have cast their gods into the fire: for they were no gods, but the work of men’s hands, wood and stone: therefore they have destroyed them.

stones. I will
appoint peace as your governor and righteousness as your ruler.

highway; clear away the
stones; raise a
banner for the nations!

stone, ‘You gave me birth.’ For they have turned their backs to Me and not their faces, yet in the time of trouble they
beg, ‘Rise up and save us!’

O LORD, are not thine eyes upon the truth? thou hast
stricken them, but they have not
grieved; thou hast consumed them, but they have refused to receive correction: they have made their faces harder than a rock; they have refused to return.
O LORD, do not Your eyes look for truth? You struck them, but they felt no pain. You finished them off, but they refused to accept discipline. They have made their faces harder than
stone and refused to
repent.
Take great
stones in thine hand, and hide them in the clay in the
brickkiln, which is at the entry of Pharaoh’s house in Tahpanhes, in the sight of the men of Judah;

pick up some large
stones and
bury them in the clay of the brick
pavement at the entrance to Pharaoh’s palace at Tahpanhes.
And say unto them, Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will send and take Nebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon, my servant, and will set his throne upon these
stones that I have
hid; and he shall spread his royal
pavilion over them.
Then tell them that this is what the LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, says: ‘I will send for My servant
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and I will set his throne over these
stones that I have
embedded, and he will spread his royal
pavilion over them.
And they shall not take of thee a
stone for a corner, nor a
stone for foundations; but thou shalt be
desolate for ever, saith the LORD.
No one shall
retrieve from you a cornerstone or a foundation
stone, because you will become
desolate forever,” declares the LORD.

When you finish reading this
scroll,
tie a
stone to it and cast it into the Euphrates.
He hath inclosed my ways with
hewn stone, he hath made my paths
crooked.

barred my ways with cut
stones; He has made my paths
crooked.

He has ground my teeth with gravel and
trampled me in the dust.
They have cut off my life in the
dungeon, and cast a
stone upon me.
They dropped me alive into a pit and cast stones upon me.
How is the gold become
dim! how is the most fine gold changed! the
stones of the sanctuary are poured out in the top of every street.
How the gold has become
tarnished, the pure gold has become dull! The
gems of the temple lie scattered on every street corner.
And above the
firmament that was over their heads was the likeness of a throne, as the appearance of a
sapphire stone: and upon the likeness of the throne was the likeness as the appearance of a man above upon it.
Above the
expanse over their heads was the likeness of a throne with the appearance of
sapphire, and on the throne high above was a figure like that of a man.
Then I looked, and, behold, in the
firmament that was above the head of the cherubims there appeared over them as it were a
sapphire stone, as the appearance of the likeness of a throne.
And when I looked, behold the four wheels by the cherubims, one wheel by one
cherub, and another wheel by another
cherub: and the appearance of the wheels was as the colour of a
beryl stone.
And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the
stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh:
And I will give them singleness of heart and put a new spirit within them; I will remove their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh,

They will bring a
mob against you, who will
stone you and cut you to pieces with their swords.
And that which cometh into your mind shall not be at all, that ye say, We will be as the heathen, as the families of the countries, to serve wood and stone.
When you say, ‘Let us be like the nations, like the peoples of the lands, serving wood and stone,’ what you have in mind will never come to pass.
And the company shall
stone them with
stones, and
dispatch them with their swords; they shall
slay their sons and their daughters, and burn up their houses with fire.
The
mob will
stone them and cut them down with their swords. They will kill their sons and daughters and burn down their houses.
And they shall make a
spoil of thy riches, and make a prey of thy
merchandise: and they shall break down thy walls, and destroy thy pleasant houses: and they shall lay thy
stones and thy timber and thy dust in the midst of the water.
The merchants of
Sheba and Raamah, they were thy merchants: they occupied in thy fairs with chief of all spices, and with all precious
stones, and gold.
The merchants of
Sheba and Raamah traded with you; for your wares they exchanged gold, the finest of all spices, and precious
stones.
Thou hast been in
Eden the garden of God; every precious
stone was thy covering, the
sardius,
topaz, and the
diamond, the
beryl, the
onyx, and the
jasper, the
sapphire, the
emerald, and the
carbuncle, and gold: the
workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou
wast created.
You were in
Eden, the garden of God. Every kind of precious
stone adorned you:
ruby,
topaz, and
diamond,
beryl,
onyx, and
jasper,
sapphire,
turquoise, and
emerald. Your mountings and settings were crafted in gold, prepared on the day of your creation.
Thou art the
anointed cherub that covereth; and I have set thee so: thou
wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the
stones of fire.
You were
anointed as a
guardian cherub, for I had ordained you. You were on the holy mountain of God; you walked among the
fiery stones.
By the multitude of thy
merchandise they have filled the midst of thee with violence, and thou hast
sinned: therefore I will cast thee as
profane out of the mountain of God: and I will destroy thee, O covering
cherub, from the midst of the
stones of fire.
By the vastness of your trade, you were filled with violence, and you
sinned. So I drove you in disgrace from the mountain of God, and I banished you, O
guardian cherub, from among the
fiery stones.
A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the
stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.
I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will remove your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.
And the four tables were of
hewn stone for the burnt offering, of a
cubit and an half long, and a
cubit and an half broad, and one
cubit high:
whereupon also they laid the instruments
wherewith they
slew the burnt offering and the sacrifice.
There were also four tables of dressed
stone for the burnt offering, each a
cubit and a half long, a
cubit and a half wide, and a
cubit high. On these were placed the utensils used to slaughter the burnt offerings and the other sacrifices.
Thou sawest till that a
stone was cut out without hands, which
smote the image upon his feet that were of iron and clay, and
brake them to pieces.
As you watched, a
stone was cut out, but not by human hands. It struck the statue on its feet of iron and clay, and
crushed them.
Then was the iron, the clay, the brass, the silver, and the gold, broken to pieces together, and became like the
chaff of the summer threshingfloors; and the wind carried them away, that no place was found for them: and the
stone that
smote the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth.
Then the iron, clay, bronze, silver, and gold were
shattered and became like
chaff on the
threshing floor in summer. The wind carried them away, and not a trace of them could be found. But the
stone that had struck the statue became a great mountain and filled the whole earth.
Forasmuch as thou sawest that the
stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it
brake in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold; the great God hath made known to the king what shall come to pass
hereafter: and the dream is certain, and the interpretation thereof sure.
And just as you saw a
stone being cut out of the mountain without human hands, and it
shattered the iron, bronze, clay, silver, and gold, so the great God has told the king what will happen in the future. The dream is true, and its interpretation is
trustworthy.”
They
drank wine, and praised the gods of gold, and of silver, of brass, of iron, of wood, and of
stone.
As they
drank the wine, they praised their gods of gold and silver, bronze and iron, wood and
stone.
But hast lifted up
thyself against the Lord of heaven; and they have brought the vessels of his house before thee, and thou, and thy lords, thy wives, and thy concubines, have
drunk wine in them; and thou hast praised the gods of silver, and gold, of brass, iron, wood, and
stone, which see not, nor hear, nor know: and the God in whose hand thy breath is, and whose are all thy ways, hast thou not
glorified:
Instead, you have
exalted yourself against the Lord of heaven. The vessels from His house were brought to you, and as you
drank wine from them with your nobles, wives, and concubines, you praised your gods of silver and gold, bronze and iron, wood and
stone, which cannot see or hear or understand. But you have failed to
glorify the God who holds in His hand your very breath and all your ways.
And a
stone was brought and laid upon the mouth of the den; and the king sealed it with his own
signet, and with the
signet of his lords; that the purpose might not be changed concerning Daniel.
A
stone was brought and placed over the mouth of the den, and the king sealed it with his own
signet ring and with the rings of his nobles, so that nothing concerning Daniel could be changed.
But in his estate shall he honour the God of forces: and a god whom his fathers knew not shall he honour with gold, and silver, and with precious stones, and pleasant things.
And in their place, he will honor a god of fortresses—a god his fathers did not know—with gold, silver, precious stones, and riches.
The princes of Judah were like them that remove the bound: therefore I will pour out my wrath upon them like water.
The princes of Judah are like those who move boundary
stones; I will pour out My
fury upon them like water.
Is there iniquity in
Gilead? surely they are vanity: they sacrifice bullocks in
Gilgal;
yea, their altars are as heaps in the furrows of the fields.
Is there iniquity in
Gilead? They will surely come to nothing. Do they sacrifice bulls in
Gilgal? Indeed, their altars will be heaps of
stones in the furrows of the field.
Forasmuch therefore as your
treading is upon the poor, and ye take from him burdens of wheat: ye have built houses of
hewn stone, but ye shall not dwell in them; ye have planted pleasant vineyards, but ye shall not drink wine of them.
Therefore, because you
trample on the poor and exact from him a tax of grain, you will never live in the
stone houses you have built; you will never drink the wine from the
lush vineyards you have planted.
Therefore I will make Samaria as an
heap of the field, and as plantings of a
vineyard: and I will pour down the
stones thereof into the valley, and I will discover the foundations thereof.
Therefore I will make Samaria a
heap of
rubble in the open field, a planting area for a
vineyard. I will pour her
stones into the valley and
expose her foundations.
For the stone shall cry out of the wall, and the beam out of the timber shall answer it.
For the
stones will cry out from the wall, and the rafters will
echo it from the
woodwork.
Woe unto him that saith to the wood,
Awake; to the
dumb stone, Arise, it shall teach! Behold, it is laid over with gold and silver, and there is no breath at all in the midst of it.
Woe to him who says to wood, ‘
Awake!’ or to silent
stone, ‘Arise!’ Can it give guidance? Behold, it is overlaid with gold and silver, yet there is no breath in it at all.”
And now, I pray you, consider from this day and upward, from before a stone was laid upon a stone in the temple of the LORD:
Now consider carefully from this day forward: Before one stone was placed on another in the temple of the LORD,
For behold the
stone that I have laid before Joshua; upon one
stone shall be seven eyes: behold, I will
engrave the graving thereof, saith the LORD of hosts, and I will remove the iniquity of that land in one day.
See the
stone I have set before Joshua; on that one
stone are seven eyes. Behold, I will
engrave on it an inscription, declares the LORD of Hosts, and I will remove the iniquity of this land in a single day.
I will bring it forth, saith the LORD of hosts, and it shall enter into the house of the
thief, and into the house of him that sweareth falsely by my name: and it shall remain in the midst of his house, and shall
consume it with the timber thereof and the
stones thereof.
I will send it out, declares the LORD of Hosts, and it will enter the house of the
thief and the house of him who swears falsely by My name. It will remain inside his house and destroy it, down to its timbers and
stones.”
Yea, they made their hearts as an
adamant stone, lest they should hear the law, and the words which the LORD of hosts hath sent in his spirit by the former prophets: therefore came a great wrath from the LORD of hosts.
They made their hearts like flint and would not
listen to the law or to the words that the LORD of Hosts had sent by His Spirit through the earlier prophets. Therefore great anger came from the LORD of Hosts.
The LORD of hosts shall defend them; and they shall
devour, and
subdue with
sling stones; and they shall drink, and make a noise as through wine; and they shall be filled like
bowls, and as the corners of the altar.
The LORD of Hosts will shield them. They will destroy and
conquer with slingstones; they will drink and
roar as with wine. And they will be filled like
sprinkling bowls,
drenched like the corners of the altar.
And the LORD their God shall save them in that day as the flock of his people: for they shall be as the
stones of a crown, lifted up as an
ensign upon his land.
On that day the LORD their God will save them as the flock of His people; for like jewels in a crown they will
sparkle over His land.
And in that day will I make Jerusalem a
burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it.
On that day, when all the nations of the earth gather against her, I will make Jerusalem a heavy
stone for all the peoples; all who would
heave it away will be severely injured.
And think not to say within
yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these
stones to raise up children unto Abraham.
And do not
presume to say to
yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our father.’ For I tell you that out of these
stones God can raise up children for Abraham.
And when the
tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these
stones be made bread.
The
tempter came to Him and said, “If You are the Son of God, tell these
stones to become bread.”
And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast
thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou
dash thy foot against a
stone.
“If You are the Son of God,” he said, “throw
Yourself down. For it is written: ‘He will command His angels concerning You, and they will lift You up in their hands, so that You will not strike Your foot against a
stone.’”
Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?
Which of you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone?
And the
husbandmen took his servants, and beat one, and killed another, and
stoned another.
But the tenants seized his servants. They beat one, killed another, and stoned a third.
Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord’s doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?
Jesus said to them, “Have you never read in the Scriptures: ‘The
stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone. This is from the Lord, and it is
marvelous in our eyes’?
He who falls on this
stone will be broken to pieces, but he on whom it falls will be
crushed.”
O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and
stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a
hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not!
O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets and
stones those sent to her, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a
hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were unwilling!
And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things?
verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one
stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down.
“Do you see all these things?” He replied. “Truly I tell you, not one stone here will be left on another; every one will be thrown down.”
And laid it in his own new tomb, which he had
hewn out in the rock: and he rolled a great
stone to the door of the
sepulchre, and departed.
and placed it in his own new tomb that he had cut into the rock. Then he rolled a great stone across the entrance to the tomb and went away.
So they went, and made the
sepulchre sure, sealing the
stone, and setting a watch.
So they went and secured the tomb by sealing the stone and posting the guard.
And, behold, there was a great
earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the
stone from the door, and sat upon it.
Suddenly there was a great
earthquake, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven, rolled away the
stone, and sat on it.
And always, night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones.
Night and day in the tombs and in the mountains he kept crying out and cutting himself with stones.
And again he sent unto them another servant; and at him they cast
stones, and wounded him in the head, and sent him away
shamefully handled.
Then he sent them another servant, and they struck him over the head and treated him
shamefully.
And have ye not read this scripture; The stone which the builders rejected is become the head of the corner:
Have you never read this Scripture: ‘The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.
