And, behold, I will give to thy servants, the hewers that cut timber, twenty thousand measures of beaten wheat, and twenty thousand measures of barley, and twenty thousand baths of wine, and twenty thousand baths of oil.
I will pay your servants, the woodcutters, 20,000 cors of ground wheat, 20,000 cors of barley, 20,000 baths of wine, and 20,000 baths of olive oil.”
Then Huram the king of Tyre answered in writing, which he sent to Solomon, Because the LORD hath loved his people, he hath made thee king over them.
Then Hiram king of Tyre wrote a letter in reply to Solomon: “Because
the LORD loves His people, He has set you over
them as king.”
Huram said moreover, Blessed be
the LORD God of Israel, that made heaven and earth, who hath given to David
the king a wise son,
endued with
prudence and understanding, that might build an house for
the LORD, and an house for his kingdom.
And
Hiram added: “Blessed be
the LORD,
the God of Israel, who made
the heavens and
the earth! He has given King David a wise son with insight and understanding, who will build a temple for
the LORD and a royal palace for himself.
The son of a woman of
the daughters of
Dan, and his father was a man of Tyre, skilful to work in gold, and in silver, in brass, in iron, in stone, and in timber, in purple, in blue, and in fine linen, and in
crimson; also to grave any manner of graving, and to find out every
device which shall be put to him, with thy
cunning men, and with
the cunning men of my lord David thy father.
He is
the son of a woman from
the daughters of
Dan, and his father is a man of Tyre. He is skilled in work with gold and silver, bronze and iron, stone and wood, purple, blue, and
crimson yarn, and fine linen. He is experienced in every kind of engraving and can
execute any design that is given him. He will work with your
craftsmen and with those of my lord, your father David.
Now therefore the wheat, and the barley, the oil, and the wine, which my lord hath spoken of, let him send unto his servants:
Now let my lord send to his servants the wheat, barley, olive oil, and wine he promised.
And we will cut wood out of
Lebanon, as much as thou shalt need: and we will bring it to
thee in flotes by sea to
Joppa; and thou shall carry it up to Jerusalem.
We will cut logs from
Lebanon, as many as you need, and we will
float them to you as rafts by sea down to
Joppa.
Then you can take
them up to Jerusalem.”
And Solomon numbered all
the strangers that were in
the land of Israel, after
the numbering
wherewith David his father had numbered
them; and
they were found an hundred and fifty thousand and three thousand and six hundred.
Solomon numbered all the foreign men in the land of Israel following the census his father David had conducted, and there were found to be 153,600 in all.
And he set
threescore and ten thousand of
them to be bearers of burdens, and
fourscore thousand to be hewers in
the mountain, and three thousand and six hundred overseers to set
the people a work.
Solomon made 70,000 of
them porters, 80,000 stonecutters in
the mountains, and 3,600 supervisors.
Then Solomon began to build
the house of
the LORD at Jerusalem in mount
Moriah, where
the LORD appeared unto David his father, in
the place that David had prepared in
the threshingfloor of Ornan
the Jebusite.
Then Solomon began to build
the house of
the LORD in Jerusalem on Mount
Moriah, where
the LORD had appeared to his father David. This was
the place that David had prepared on
the threshing floor of Ornan
the Jebusite.
And he began to build in the second day of the second month, in the fourth year of his reign.
Solomon began construction on the second day of the second month in the fourth year of his reign.
Now
these are
the things wherein Solomon was
instructed for
the building of
the house of God.
The length by cubits after
the first measure was
threescore cubits, and
the breadth twenty cubits.
The foundation that Solomon laid for the house of God was sixty cubits long and twenty cubits wide, according to the old standard.
And
the porch that was in
the front of
the house,
the length of it was according to
the breadth of
the house, twenty cubits, and
the height was an hundred and twenty: and he overlaid it within with pure gold.
The portico at
the front, extending across
the width of
the temple, was twenty cubits long and twenty cubits high. He overlaid
the inside with pure gold.
And
the greater house he cieled with
fir tree, which he overlaid with fine gold, and set
thereon palm trees and chains.
He
paneled the main room with
cypress, which he overlaid with fine gold and decorated with palm trees and chains.
And he
garnished the house with precious stones for beauty: and
the gold was gold of Parvaim.
He adorned the temple with precious stones for beauty, and its gold was from Parvaim.
He overlaid also the house, the beams, the posts, and the walls thereof, and the doors thereof, with gold; and graved cherubims on the walls.
He overlaid its beams, thresholds, walls, and doors with gold, and he carved
cherubim on
the walls.
And he made
the most holy house,
the length
whereof was according to
the breadth of
the house, twenty cubits, and
the breadth
thereof twenty cubits: and he overlaid it with fine gold, amounting to six hundred talents.
Then he made the Most Holy Place; its length corresponded to the width of the temple—twenty cubits long and twenty cubits wide. And he overlaid the inside with six hundred talents of fine gold.
And
the weight of
the nails was fifty shekels of gold. And he overlaid
the upper chambers with gold.
The weight of
the nails was fifty shekels of gold. He also overlaid
the upper area with gold.
And in the most holy house he made two cherubims of image work, and overlaid them with gold.
In
the Most Holy Place he made two
cherubim of sculptured work, and he overlaid
them with gold.
And
the wings of
the cherubims were twenty cubits long: one wing of
the one
cherub was five cubits, reaching to
the wall of
the house: and
the other wing was likewise five cubits, reaching to
the wing of
the other
cherub.
The total wingspan of
the cherubim was twenty cubits. One wing of
the first
cherub was five cubits long and touched
the wall of
the temple, and its other wing was five cubits long and touched
the wing of
the other
cherub.
And one wing of
the other
cherub was five cubits, reaching to
the wall of
the house: and
the other wing was five cubits also, joining to
the wing of
the other
cherub.
The wing of
the second
cherub also measured five cubits and touched
the wall of
the temple, while its other wing measured five cubits and touched
the wing of
the first
cherub.
The wings of these cherubims spread themselves forth twenty cubits: and they stood on their feet, and their faces were inward.
So
the total wingspan of
these cherubim was twenty cubits.
They stood on
their feet, facing
the main room.
And he made
the vail of blue, and purple, and
crimson, and fine linen, and wrought cherubims
thereon.
Also he made before
the house two pillars of thirty and five cubits high, and
the chapiter that was on
the top of each of
them was five cubits.
In front of the temple he made two pillars, which together were thirty-five cubits high, each with a capital on top measuring five cubits.
And he made chains, as in
the oracle, and put
them on
the heads of
the pillars; and made an hundred pomegranates, and put
them on
the chains.
He made
interwoven chains and put
them on top of
the pillars. He made a hundred pomegranates and fastened
them into
the chainwork.
And he reared up
the pillars before
the temple, one on
the right hand, and
the other on
the left; and called
the name of that on
the right hand
Jachin, and
the name of that on
the left Boaz.
Then he set up
the pillars in front of
the temple, one on
the south and one on
the north.
The pillar on
the south he named
Jachin, and
the pillar on
the north he named Boaz.
Moreover he made an altar of brass, twenty cubits the length thereof, and twenty cubits the breadth thereof, and ten cubits the height thereof.
He made a bronze altar twenty cubits long, twenty cubits wide, and ten cubits high.
Also he made a
molten sea of ten cubits from
brim to
brim, round in compass, and five cubits
the height
thereof; and a line of thirty cubits did compass it round about.
He also made
the Sea of cast metal. It was circular in shape, measuring ten cubits from
rim to
rim, five cubits in height, and thirty cubits in circumference.
And under it was
the similitude of oxen, which did compass it round about: ten in a
cubit, compassing
the sea round about. Two rows of oxen were cast, when it was cast.
Below
the rim, figures of oxen
encircled it, ten per
cubit all
the way around
the Sea, cast in two rows as a part of
the Sea.
It stood upon twelve oxen, three looking toward the north, and three looking toward the west, and three looking toward the south, and three looking toward the east: and the sea was set above upon them, and all their hinder parts were inward.
The Sea stood on twelve oxen, three facing north, three facing west, three facing south, and three facing east. The Sea rested on them, with all their hindquarters toward the center.
And
the thickness of it was an
handbreadth, and
the brim of it like
the work of
the brim of a cup, with flowers of
lilies; and it received and held three thousand baths.
He made also ten lavers, and put five on the right hand, and five on the left, to wash in them: such things as they offered for the burnt offering they washed in them; but the sea was for the priests to wash in.
He also made ten basins for washing and placed five on
the south side and five on
the north.
The parts of
the burnt offering were
rinsed in
them, but
the priests used
the Sea for washing.
And he made ten candlesticks of gold according to their form, and set them in the temple, five on the right hand, and five on the left.
He made ten gold lampstands according to their specifications and placed them in the temple, five on the south side and five on the north.
He made also ten tables, and placed them in the temple, five on the right side, and five on the left. And he made an hundred basons of gold.
Additionally, he made ten tables and placed
them in
the temple, five on
the south side and five on
the north. He also made a hundred gold
bowls.
Furthermore he made
the court of
the priests, and
the great court, and doors for
the court, and overlaid
the doors of
them with brass.
He made
the courtyard of
the priests and
the large court with its doors, and he overlaid
the doors with bronze.
And he set the sea on the right side of the east end, over against the south.
He put
the Sea on
the south side, at
the southeast corner.
And Huram made the pots, and the shovels, and the basons. And Huram finished the work that he was to make for king Solomon for the house of God;
Additionally, Huram made
the pots, shovels, and
sprinkling bowls. So Huram finished
the work that he had undertaken for King Solomon in
the house of God:
To wit,
the two pillars, and
the pommels, and
the chapiters which were on
the top of
the two pillars, and
the two
wreaths to cover
the two pommels of
the chapiters which were on
the top of
the pillars;
the two pillars;
the two
bowl-shaped capitals
atop the pillars;
the two sets of network covering both
bowls of
the capitals
atop the pillars;
And four hundred pomegranates on
the two
wreaths; two rows of pomegranates on each
wreath, to cover
the two pommels of
the chapiters which were upon
the pillars.
the four hundred pomegranates for
the two sets of network (two rows of pomegranates for each network covering both
the bowl-shaped capitals
atop the pillars);
He made also bases, and lavers made he upon the bases;
the stands; the basins on the stands;
One sea, and twelve oxen under it.
The pots also, and the shovels, and the fleshhooks, and all their instruments, did Huram his father make to king Solomon for the house of the LORD of bright brass.
and the pots, shovels, meat forks, and all the other articles. All these objects that Huram-abi made for King Solomon for the house of the LORD were of polished bronze.
In the plain of Jordan did the king cast them, in the clay ground between Succoth and Zeredathah.
The king had them cast in clay molds in the plain of the Jordan between Succoth and Zeredah.
Thus Solomon made all these vessels in great abundance: for the weight of the brass could not be found out.
Solomon made all these articles in such great abundance that the weight of the bronze could not be determined.
And Solomon made all
the vessels that were for
the house of God,
the golden altar also, and
the tables
whereon the shewbread was set;
Solomon also made all the furnishings for the house of God: the golden altar; the tables on which was placed the Bread of the Presence;
Moreover
the candlesticks with
their lamps, that
they should burn after
the manner before
the oracle, of pure gold;
the lampstands of pure gold and their lamps, to burn in front of the inner sanctuary as prescribed;
And
the flowers, and
the lamps, and
the tongs, made he of gold, and that perfect gold;
the flowers, lamps, and
tongs of gold—of purest gold;
And
the snuffers, and
the basons, and
the spoons, and
the censers, of pure gold: and
the entry of
the house,
the inner doors
thereof for
the most holy place, and
the doors of
the house of
the temple, were of gold.
the wick trimmers,
sprinkling bowls, ladles, and censers of purest gold; and
the gold doors of
the temple:
the inner doors to
the Most Holy Place as well as
the doors of
the main hall.
Thus all the work that Solomon made for the house of the LORD was finished: and Solomon brought in all the things that David his father had dedicated; and the silver, and the gold, and all the instruments, put he among the treasures of the house of God.
So all
the work that Solomon had performed for
the house of
the LORD was completed.
Then Solomon brought in
the items his father David had dedicated—
the silver,
the gold, and all
the furnishings—and he placed
them in
the treasuries of
the house of God.
Then Solomon assembled
the elders of Israel, and all
the heads of
the tribes,
the chief of
the fathers of
the children of Israel, unto Jerusalem, to bring up
the ark of
the covenant of
the LORD out of
the city of David, which is
Zion.
At that time Solomon assembled in Jerusalem
the elders of Israel—all
the tribal heads and family leaders of
the Israelites—to bring up
the ark of
the covenant of
the LORD from
Zion,
the City of David.
Wherefore all the men of Israel assembled themselves unto the king in the feast which was in the seventh month.
So all the men of Israel came together to the king at the feast in the seventh month.
And all the elders of Israel came; and the Levites took up the ark.
When all the elders of Israel had arrived, the Levites took up the ark,
And they brought up the ark, and the tabernacle of the congregation, and all the holy vessels that were in the tabernacle, these did the priests and the Levites bring up.
and
they brought up
the ark and
the Tent of Meeting with all its sacred furnishings.
The Levitical priests carried
them up.
Also king Solomon, and all the congregation of Israel that were assembled unto him before the ark, sacrificed sheep and oxen, which could not be told nor numbered for multitude.
There, before the ark, King Solomon and the whole congregation of Israel who had assembled with him sacrificed so many sheep and oxen that they could not be counted or numbered.
And
the priests brought in
the ark of
the covenant of
the LORD unto his place, to
the oracle of
the house, into
the most holy place, even under
the wings of
the cherubims:
Then the priests brought
the ark of
the covenant of
the LORD to its place in
the inner sanctuary of
the temple,
the Most Holy Place, beneath
the wings of
the cherubim.
For
the cherubims spread forth
their wings over
the place of
the ark, and
the cherubims covered
the ark and
the staves thereof above.
For
the cherubim spread
their wings over
the place of
the ark and overshadowed
the ark and its poles.
And
they drew out
the staves of
the ark, that
the ends of
the staves were seen from
the ark before
the oracle; but
they were not seen without. And
there it is unto this day.
The poles of the ark extended far enough that their ends were visible from in front of the inner sanctuary, but not from outside the Holy Place; and they are there to this day.
There was nothing in
the ark save
the two tables which Moses put
therein at
Horeb, when
the LORD made a covenant with
the children of Israel, when
they came out of Egypt.
There was nothing in
the ark except
the two tablets that Moses had placed in it at
Horeb, where
the LORD had made a covenant with
the Israelites after
they had come out of Egypt.
And it came to pass, when
the priests were come out of
the holy place: (for all
the priests that were present were
sanctified, and did not
then wait by course:
Now all the priests who were present had consecrated themselves regardless of their divisions. And when the priests came out of the Holy Place,
Also
the Levites which were
the singers, all of
them of
Asaph, of Heman, of
Jeduthun, with
their sons and
their brethren, being
arrayed in white linen, having cymbals and
psalteries and harps, stood at
the east end of
the altar, and with
them an hundred and twenty priests sounding with
trumpets:)
all
the Levitical singers—
Asaph, Heman,
Jeduthun, and
their sons and relatives—stood on
the east side of
the altar, dressed in fine linen and playing cymbals, harps, and lyres, accompanied by 120 priests sounding
trumpets.
It came even to pass, as
the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and
thanking the LORD; and when
they lifted up
their voice with
the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of musick, and praised
the LORD, saying, For he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever: that
then the house was filled with a cloud, even
the house of
the LORD;
The trumpeters and singers joined together to praise and
thank the LORD with one voice.
They lifted up
their voices, accompanied by
trumpets, cymbals, and musical instruments, in praise to
the LORD: “For He is good; His loving devotion endures
forever.” And
the temple,
the house of
the LORD, was filled with a cloud
So that the priests could not stand to minister by reason of the cloud: for the glory of the LORD had filled the house of God.
so that the priests could not stand there to minister because of the cloud; for the glory of the LORD filled the house of God.
Then said Solomon, The LORD hath said that he would dwell in the thick darkness.
Then Solomon declared: “The LORD has said that He would dwell in the thick cloud;
But I have built an house of
habitation for
thee, and a place for thy dwelling for ever.
and I have built You an
exalted house, a place for You to dwell
forever.”
And the king turned his face, and blessed the whole congregation of Israel: and all the congregation of Israel stood.
And as the whole assembly of Israel stood there, the king turned around and blessed them all
And he said, Blessed be the LORD God of Israel, who hath with his hands fulfilled that which he spake with his mouth to my father David, saying,
and said: “Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, who has fulfilled with His own hand what He spoke with His mouth to my father David, saying,
Since the day that I brought forth my people out of the land of Egypt I chose no city among all the tribes of Israel to build an house in, that my name might be there; neither chose I any man to be a ruler over my people Israel:
‘Since
the day I brought My people out of
the land of Egypt, I have not chosen a city from any tribe of Israel in which to build a house so that My Name would be
there, nor have I chosen
anyone to be ruler over My people Israel.
But I have chosen Jerusalem, that my name might be there; and have chosen David to be over my people Israel.
But now I have chosen Jerusalem for My Name to be there, and I have chosen David to be over My people Israel.’
Now it was in the heart of David my father to build an house for the name of the LORD God of Israel.
Now it was in the heart of my father David to build a house for the Name of the LORD, the God of Israel.
But
the LORD said to David my father,
Forasmuch as it was in thine heart to build an house for my name, thou
didst well in that it was in thine heart:
But the LORD said to my father David, ‘Since it was in your heart to build a house for My Name, you have done well to have this in your heart.
Notwithstanding thou shalt not build the house; but thy son which shall come forth out of thy loins, he shall build the house for my name.
Nevertheless, you are not the one to build it; but your son, your own offspring, will build the house for My Name.’
The LORD therefore hath performed his word that he hath spoken: for I am risen up in the room of David my father, and am set on the throne of Israel, as the LORD promised, and have built the house for the name of the LORD God of Israel.
Now the LORD has fulfilled the word that He spoke. I have succeeded my father David, and I sit on the throne of Israel, as the LORD promised. I have built the house for the Name of the LORD, the God of Israel.
And in it have I put the ark, wherein is the covenant of the LORD, that he made with the children of Israel.
And there I have provided a place for the ark, which contains the covenant of the LORD that He made with the children of Israel.”
And he stood before the altar of the LORD in the presence of all the congregation of Israel, and spread forth his hands:
Then Solomon stood before the altar of the LORD in front of the whole assembly of Israel and spread out his hands.
For Solomon had made a
brasen scaffold, of five cubits long, and five cubits broad, and three cubits high, and had set it in
the midst of
the court: and upon it he stood, and
kneeled down upon his knees before all
the congregation of Israel, and spread forth his hands toward heaven,
Now Solomon had made a bronze platform five cubits long, five cubits wide, and three cubits high, and had placed it in
the middle of
the courtyard. He stood on it,
knelt down before
the whole assembly of Israel, spread out his hands toward heaven,
And said, O LORD God of Israel, there is no God like thee in the heaven, nor in the earth; which keepest covenant, and shewest mercy unto thy servants, that walk before thee with all their hearts:
and said: “O LORD, God of Israel, there is no God like You in heaven or on earth, keeping Your covenant of loving devotion with Your servants who walk before You with all their hearts.
Now
therefore, O LORD God of Israel, keep with thy servant David my father that which thou hast promised him, saying,
There shall not fail
thee a man in my sight to sit upon
the throne of Israel; yet so that thy children take
heed to
their way to walk in my law, as thou hast walked before me.
Therefore now, O LORD, God of Israel, keep for Your servant, my father David, what You promised when You said: ‘You will never fail to have a man to sit before Me on the throne of Israel, if only your descendants guard their way to walk in My law as you have walked before Me.’
Now
then, O LORD God of Israel, let thy word be
verified, which thou hast spoken unto thy servant David.
And now, O LORD, God of Israel, please
confirm what You promised to Your servant David.
But will God in very deed dwell with men on the earth? behold, heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain thee; how much less this house which I have built!
But will God indeed dwell with man upon the earth? Even heaven, the highest heaven, cannot contain You, much less this temple I have built.
Have respect
therefore to
the prayer of thy servant, and to his
supplication, O LORD my God, to
hearken unto
the cry and
the prayer which thy servant prayeth before
thee:
Yet regard
the prayer and
plea of Your servant, O LORD my God, so that You may hear
the cry and
the prayer that Your servant is praying before You.
That thine eyes may be open upon this house day and night, upon
the place
whereof thou hast said that thou wouldest put thy name
there; to
hearken unto
the prayer which thy servant prayeth toward this place.
May Your eyes be open toward this temple day and night, toward the place where You said You would put Your Name, so that You may hear the prayer that Your servant prays toward this place.
Hearken therefore unto
the supplications of thy servant, and of thy people Israel, which
they shall make toward this place: hear thou from thy dwelling place, even from heaven; and when thou hearest,
forgive.
Hear
the plea of Your servant and of Your people Israel when
they pray toward this place. May You hear from heaven, Your dwelling place. May You hear and
forgive.
If a man sin against his neighbour, and an oath be laid upon him to make him
swear, and
the oath come before thine altar in this house;
When a man sins against his
neighbor and is required to take an oath, and he comes to take an oath before Your altar in this temple,
Then hear thou from heaven, and do, and judge thy servants, by requiting
the wicked, by
recompensing his way upon his own head; and by
justifying the righteous, by giving him according to his righteousness.
then may You hear from heaven and act. May You judge Your servants,
condemning the wicked man by bringing down on his own head what he has done, and
justifying the righteous man by rewarding him according to his righteousness.
And if thy people Israel be put to
the worse before
the enemy, because
they have
sinned against
thee; and shall return and
confess thy name, and pray and make
supplication before
thee in this house;
When Your people Israel are defeated before an enemy because
they have
sinned against You, and
they return to You and
confess Your name, praying and
pleading before You in this temple,
Then hear thou from
the heavens, and
forgive the sin of thy people Israel, and bring
them again unto
the land which thou gavest to
them and to
their fathers.
then may You hear from heaven and
forgive the sin of Your people Israel. May You restore
them to
the land You gave to
them and
their fathers.
When
the heaven is shut up, and
there is no rain, because
they have
sinned against
thee; yet if
they pray toward this place, and
confess thy name, and turn from
their sin, when thou
dost afflict them;
When
the skies are shut and
there is no rain because Your people have
sinned against You, and
they pray toward this place and
confess Your name, and
they turn from
their sins because You have
afflicted them,
Then hear thou from heaven, and
forgive the sin of thy servants, and of thy people Israel, when thou hast taught
them the good way, wherein
they should walk; and send rain upon thy land, which thou hast given unto thy people for an inheritance.
then may You hear from heaven and
forgive the sin of Your servants, Your people Israel, so that You may teach
them the good way in which
they should walk. May You send rain on
the land that You gave Your people as an inheritance.
When famine or plague comes upon
the land, or
blight or
mildew or locusts or grasshoppers, or when
their enemies
besiege them in
their cities, whatever plague or sickness may come,
Then what prayer or what
supplication soever shall be made of any man, or of all thy people Israel, when every one shall know his own
sore and his own grief, and shall spread forth his hands in this house:
then may whatever prayer or petition Your people Israel make—each knowing his own afflictions and spreading out his hands toward this temple—
Then hear thou from heaven thy dwelling place, and
forgive, and render unto every man according unto all his ways, whose heart thou knowest; (for thou only knowest
the hearts of
the children of men:)
be heard by You from heaven, Your dwelling place. And may You
forgive and repay each man according to all his ways, since You know his heart—for You alone know
the hearts of men—
That they may fear thee, to walk in thy ways, so long as they live in the land which thou gavest unto our fathers.
so that they may fear You and walk in Your ways all the days they live in the land that You gave to our fathers.
Moreover concerning the stranger, which is not of thy people Israel, but is come from a far country for thy great name’s sake, and thy mighty hand, and thy stretched out arm; if they come and pray in this house;
And as for the foreigner who is not of Your people Israel but has come from a distant land because of Your great name and Your mighty hand and outstretched arm—when he comes and prays toward this temple,
Then hear thou from
the heavens, even from thy dwelling place, and do according to all that
the stranger calleth to
thee for; that all people of
the earth may know thy name, and fear
thee, as
doth thy people Israel, and may know that this house which I have built is called by thy name.
then may You hear from heaven, Your dwelling place, and do according to all for which the foreigner calls to You. Then all the peoples of the earth will know Your name and fear You, as do Your people Israel, and they will know that this house I have built is called by Your Name.
If thy people go out to war against their enemies by the way that thou shalt send them, and they pray unto thee toward this city which thou hast chosen, and the house which I have built for thy name;
When Your people go to war against their enemies, wherever You send them, and when they pray to You in the direction of the city You have chosen and the house I have built for Your Name,
Then hear thou from
the heavens
their prayer and
their supplication, and maintain
their cause.
then may You hear from heaven
their prayer and
their plea, and may You
uphold their cause.
If
they sin against
thee, (for
there is no man which sinneth not,) and thou be
angry with
them, and deliver
them over before
their enemies, and
they carry
them away
captives unto a land far off or near;
When
they sin against You—for
there is no one who does not sin—and You become
angry with
them and deliver
them to an enemy who takes
them as
captives to a land far or near,
Yet if
they bethink themselves in
the land
whither they are carried
captive, and turn and pray unto
thee in
the land of
their captivity, saying, We have
sinned, we have done
amiss, and have dealt wickedly;
and when
they come to
their senses in
the land to which
they were taken, and
they repent and
plead with You in
the land of
their captors, saying, ‘We have
sinned and done wrong; we have acted wickedly,’
If
they return to
thee with all
their heart and with all
their soul in
the land of
their captivity,
whither they have carried
them captives, and pray toward
their land, which thou gavest unto
their fathers, and toward
the city which thou hast chosen, and toward
the house which I have built for thy name:
and when
they return to You with all
their heart and soul in
the land of
the enemies who took
them captive, and when
they pray in
the direction of
the land that You gave to
their fathers,
the city You have chosen, and
the house I have built for Your Name,
Then hear thou from
the heavens, even from thy dwelling place,
their prayer and
their supplications, and maintain
their cause, and
forgive thy people which have
sinned against
thee.
then may You hear from heaven, Your dwelling place,
their prayer and petition, and may You
uphold their cause. May You
forgive Your people who
sinned against You.
Now, my God, let, I
beseech thee, thine eyes be open, and let thine ears be
attent unto
the prayer that is made in this place.
Now, my God, may Your eyes be open and Your ears
attentive to
the prayer offered in this place.
