Whoso offereth praise glorifieth me: and to him that ordereth his conversation
aright will I
shew the salvation of God.
He who sacrifices a
thank offering honors Me, and to him who rights his way, I will show
the salvation of God.”
Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto
the multitude of thy tender
mercies blot out my transgressions.
Have mercy on me, O God, according to Your loving devotion; according to Your great
compassion,
blot out my transgressions.
Against
thee,
thee only, have I
sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.
Against You, You only, have I
sinned and done what is evil in Your sight, so that You may be proved right when You speak and
blameless when You judge.
Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom.
Surely You desire truth in the inmost being; You teach me wisdom in the inmost place.
Make me to hear joy and
gladness; that
the bones which thou hast broken may
rejoice.
Restore unto me
the joy of thy salvation; and
uphold me with thy free spirit.
Restore to me
the joy of Your salvation, and
sustain me with a willing spirit.
Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee.
Then I will teach transgressors Your ways, and sinners will return to You.
Deliver me from
bloodguiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation: and my tongue shall sing
aloud of thy righteousness.
Deliver me from bloodguilt, O God, the God of my salvation, and my tongue will sing of Your righteousness.
The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a
contrite heart, O God, thou
wilt not
despise.
The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and a
contrite heart, O God, You will not
despise.
Do good in thy good pleasure unto
Zion: build thou
the walls of Jerusalem.
In Your good pleasure, cause
Zion to
prosper; build up
the walls of Jerusalem.
Then shalt thou be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness, with burnt offering and whole burnt offering: then shall they offer bullocks upon thine altar.
Then You will delight in righteous sacrifices, in whole burnt offerings; then bulls will be offered on Your altar.
Why boastest thou
thyself in mischief, O mighty man?
the goodness of God endureth continually.
Why do you
boast of evil, O mighty man?
The loving devotion of God endures all day long.
God shall likewise destroy
thee for ever, he shall take
thee away, and
pluck thee out of thy dwelling place, and root
thee out of
the land of
the living.
Selah.
Surely God will bring you down to
everlasting ruin; He will
snatch you up and
tear you away from your tent; He will
uproot you from
the land of
the living.
Selah The righteous also shall see, and fear, and shall
laugh at him:
The righteous will see and fear;
they will
mock the evildoer, saying,
Lo, this is the man that made not God his strength; but trusted in the abundance of his riches, and strengthened himself in his wickedness.
“Look at the man who did not make God his refuge, but trusted in the abundance of his wealth and strengthened himself by destruction.”
But I am like a green olive tree in the house of God: I trust in the mercy of God for ever and ever.
But I am like an olive tree flourishing in
the house of God; I trust in
the loving devotion of God
forever and ever.
I will praise thee for ever, because thou hast done it: and I will wait on thy name; for it is good before thy saints.
I will praise You
forever, because You have done it. I will wait on Your name— for it is good— in
the presence of Your saints.
The fool hath said in his heart,
There is no God. Corrupt are
they, and have done
abominable iniquity:
there is none that doeth good.
The fool says in his heart, “
There is no God.”
They are corrupt;
their ways are
vile.
There is no one who does good.
God looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, that did seek God.
God looks down from heaven upon the sons of men to see if any understand, if any seek God.
Every one of
them is gone back:
they are altogether become
filthy;
there is none that doeth good, no, not one.
All have turned away, they have together become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one.
Have the workers of iniquity no knowledge? who eat up my people as they eat bread: they have not called upon God.
Will
the workers of iniquity never learn?
They devour my people like bread;
they refuse to call upon God.
There were
they in great fear, where no fear was: for God hath scattered
the bones of him that encampeth against
thee: thou hast put
them to shame, because God hath
despised them.
There they are,
overwhelmed with
dread, where
there was nothing to fear. For God has scattered
the bones of those who besieged you. You put
them to shame, for God has
despised them.
Oh that
the salvation of Israel were come out of
Zion! When God bringeth back
the captivity of his people, Jacob shall
rejoice, and Israel shall be
glad.
Oh, that
the salvation of Israel would come from
Zion! When God restores His
captive people, let Jacob
rejoice, let Israel be
glad!
Hear my prayer, O God; give ear to the words of my mouth.
Hear my prayer, O God;
listen to
the words of my mouth.
For strangers are risen up against me, and oppressors seek after my soul:
they have not set God before
them.
Selah.
For strangers rise up against me, and
ruthless men seek my life— men with no regard for God.
Selah Behold, God is mine helper:
the Lord is with
them that
uphold my soul.
Surely God is my helper;
the Lord is
the sustainer of my soul.
He shall reward evil unto mine enemies: cut them off in thy truth.
He will reward my enemies with evil. In Your faithfulness, destroy them.
I will freely sacrifice unto thee: I will praise thy name, O LORD; for it is good.
Freely I will sacrifice to You; I will praise Your name, O LORD, for it is good.
Because of
the voice of
the enemy, because of
the oppression of
the wicked: for
they cast iniquity upon me, and in wrath
they hate me.
at
the voice of
the enemy, at
the pressure of
the wicked. For
they release
disaster upon me and
revile me in
their anger.
My heart is
sore pained within me: and
the terrors of death are fallen upon me.
My heart murmurs within me, and
the terrors of death
assail me.
And I said, Oh that I had wings like a
dove! for
then would I fly away, and be at rest.
I said, “Oh, that I had wings like a
dove! I would fly away and find rest.
Lo,
then would I
wander far off, and remain in
the wilderness.
Selah.
How far away I would
flee! In
the wilderness I would remain.
Selah Destroy, O Lord, and divide
their tongues: for I have seen violence and
strife in
the city.
Day and night they go about it upon the walls thereof: mischief also and sorrow are in the midst of it.
Day and night
they encircle the walls, while
malice and trouble lie within.
Wickedness is in
the midst
thereof:
deceit and
guile depart not from her streets.
Destruction is within; oppression and
deceit never leave
the streets.
For it was not an enemy that reproached me;
then I could have borne it: neither was it he that
hated me that did
magnify himself against me;
then I would have
hid myself from him:
For it is not an enemy who insults me; that I could
endure. It is not a
foe who rises against me; from him I could hide.
We took sweet counsel together, and walked unto the house of God in company.
We shared sweet
fellowship together; we walked with
the crowd into
the house of God.
Let death seize upon
them, and let
them go down quick into
hell: for wickedness is in
their dwellings, and among
them.
Let death seize
them by surprise; let
them go down to
Sheol alive, for evil is with
them in
their homes.
As for me, I will call upon God; and the LORD shall save me.
But I call to God, and the LORD saves me.
He hath delivered my soul in peace from the battle that was against me: for there were many with me.
He redeems my soul in peace from
the battle
waged against me, even though many
oppose me.
God shall hear, and
afflict them, even he that abideth of old.
Selah. Because
they have no changes,
therefore they fear not God.
God will hear and
humiliate them—
the One enthroned for
the ages—
Selah because
they do not change and
they have no fear of God.
The words of his mouth were smoother than butter, but war was in his heart: his words were softer than oil, yet were they drawn swords.
His speech is smooth as butter, but war is in his heart. His words are softer than oil, yet
they are swords
unsheathed.
Cast thy burden upon
the LORD, and he shall
sustain thee: he shall never suffer
the righteous to be moved.
Cast your burden upon
the LORD and He will
sustain you; He will never let
the righteous be
shaken.
But thou, O God, shalt bring
them down into
the pit of destruction:
bloody and
deceitful men shall not live out half
their days; but I will trust in
thee.
But You, O God, will bring
them down to
the Pit of destruction; men of
bloodshed and
deceit will not live out half
their days. But I will trust in You.
Be
merciful unto me, O God: for man would
swallow me up; he fighting daily oppresseth me.
Be
merciful to me, O God, for men are
hounding me; all day
they press
their attack.
Mine enemies would daily
swallow me up: for
they be many that fight against me, O thou most High.
My enemies pursue me all day long, for many proudly
assail me.
What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee.
When I am afraid, I put my trust in You.
Every day
they wrest my words: all
their thoughts are against me for evil.
All day long
they twist my words; all
their thoughts are on my
demise.
They gather themselves together, they hide themselves, they mark my steps, when they wait for my soul.
They conspire,
they lurk,
they watch my steps while
they wait to take my life.
Shall they escape by iniquity? in thine anger cast down the people, O God.
In spite of such sin, will they escape? In Your anger, O God, cast down the nations.
Thou tellest my wanderings: put thou my tears into thy
bottle: are
they not in thy book?
You have taken account of my wanderings. Put my tears in Your
bottle— are
they not in Your book?
When I cry unto thee, then shall mine enemies turn back: this I know; for God is for me.
Then my enemies will retreat on the day I cry for help. By this I will know that God is on my side.
In God will I praise his word: in the LORD will I praise his word.
In God, whose word I praise, in the LORD, whose word I praise,
Thy vows are upon me, O God: I will render praises unto thee.
Your vows are upon me, O God; I will render
thank offerings to You.
For thou hast delivered my soul from death:
wilt not thou deliver my feet from falling, that I may walk before God in
the light of
the living?
For You have delivered my soul from death, and my feet from
stumbling, that I may walk before God in
the light of life.
Be
merciful unto me, O God, be
merciful unto me: for my soul trusteth in
thee:
yea, in
the shadow of thy wings will I make my refuge, until
these calamities be overpast.
Have mercy on me, O God, have mercy, for in You my soul takes refuge. In the shadow of Your wings I will take shelter until the danger has passed.
He shall send from heaven, and save from
the reproach of him that would
swallow me up.
Selah. God shall send forth his mercy and his truth.
He reaches down from heaven and saves me; He rebukes those who
trample me.
Selah God sends forth His loving devotion and His truth.
My soul is among lions: and I lie even among them that are set on fire, even the sons of men, whose teeth are spears and arrows, and their tongue a sharp sword.
My soul is among
the lions; I lie down with
ravenous beasts— with men whose teeth are spears and arrows, whose tongues are sharp swords.
Be thou
exalted, O God, above
the heavens; let thy glory be above all
the earth.
Be
exalted, O God, above
the heavens; may Your glory cover all
the earth.
They have prepared a net for my steps; my soul is bowed down:
they have
digged a pit before me, into
the midst
whereof they are fallen
themselves.
Selah.
They spread a net for my feet; my soul was
despondent.
They dug a pit before me, but
they themselves have fallen into it!
Selah I will praise thee, O Lord, among the people: I will sing unto thee among the nations.
I will praise You, O Lord, among the nations; I will sing Your praises among the peoples.
For thy mercy is great unto the heavens, and thy truth unto the clouds.
For Your loving devotion reaches to the heavens, and Your faithfulness to the clouds.
Be thou
exalted, O God, above
the heavens: let thy glory be above all
the earth.
Be
exalted, O God, above
the heavens; may Your glory cover all
the earth.
Yea, in heart ye work wickedness; ye
weigh the violence of your hands in
the earth.
No, in your hearts you
devise injustice; with your hands you
mete out violence on
the earth.
Their poison is like
the poison of a serpent:
they are like
the deaf adder that stoppeth her ear;
Which will not
hearken to
the voice of charmers, charming never so wisely.
Break their teeth, O God, in their mouth: break out the great teeth of the young lions, O LORD.
O God,
shatter their teeth in
their mouths; O LORD,
tear out
the fangs of
the lions.
Let
them melt away as waters which run continually: when he bendeth his bow to shoot his arrows, let
them be as cut in pieces.
May
they vanish like water that runs off; when
they draw
the bow, may
their arrows be
blunted.
As a
snail which melteth, let every one of
them pass away: like
the untimely birth of a woman, that
they may not see
the sun.
Like a
slug that dissolves in its
slime, like a woman’s
stillborn child, may
they never see
the sun.
Before your pots can feel
the thorns, he shall take
them away as with a
whirlwind, both living, and in his wrath.
Before your pots can feel
the burning thorns— whether green or dry— He will
sweep them away.
The righteous shall
rejoice when he
seeth the vengeance: he shall wash his feet in
the blood of
the wicked.
The righteous will
rejoice when
they see
they are
avenged;
they will wash
their feet in
the blood of
the wicked.
So that a man shall say,
Verily there is a reward for
the righteous:
verily he is a God that judgeth in
the earth.
Then men will say, “There is surely a reward for the righteous! There is surely a God who judges the earth!”
Deliver me from mine enemies, O my God: defend me from them that rise up against me.
Deliver me from my enemies, O my God; protect me from those who rise against me.
Deliver me from
the workers of iniquity, and save me from
bloody men.
Deliver me from workers of iniquity, and save me from men of
bloodshed.
For, lo,
they lie in wait for my soul:
the mighty are gathered against me; not for my
transgression, nor for my sin, O LORD.
See how
they lie in wait for me. Fierce men
conspire against me for no
transgression or sin of my own, O LORD.
They run and prepare
themselves without my fault:
awake to help me, and behold.
For no fault of my own, they move swiftly to attack me. Arise to help me, and take notice.
Thou
therefore, O LORD God of hosts,
the God of Israel,
awake to visit all
the heathen: be not
merciful to any wicked transgressors.
Selah.
O LORD God of Hosts,
the God of Israel,
rouse Yourself to
punish all
the nations; show no mercy to
the wicked traitors.
Selah They return at evening: they make a noise like a dog, and go round about the city.
Behold,
they belch out with
their mouth: swords are in
their lips: for who, say
they,
doth hear?
See what
they spew from
their mouths— sharp words from
their lips: “For who can hear us?”
But thou, O LORD, shalt
laugh at
them; thou shalt have all
the heathen in
derision.
But You, O LORD,
laugh at
them; You
scoff at all
the nations.
Because of his strength will I wait upon thee: for God is my defence.
I will keep watch for You, O my strength, because You, O God, are my fortress.
The God of my mercy shall prevent me: God shall let me see my desire upon mine enemies.
My God of loving devotion will come to meet me; God will let me
stare down my foes.
Slay them not, lest my people
forget:
scatter them by thy power; and bring
them down, O Lord our shield.
Do not kill
them, or my people will
forget.
Scatter them by Your power, and bring
them down, O Lord, our shield.
For
the sin of
their mouth and
the words of
their lips let
them even be taken in
their pride: and for
cursing and lying which
they speak.
By
the sins of
their mouths and
the words of
their lips, let
them be
trapped in
their pride, in
the curses and lies
they utter.
Consume them in wrath,
consume them, that
they may not be: and let
them know that God ruleth in Jacob unto
the ends of
the earth.
Selah.
Consume them in wrath;
consume them till
they are no more, so it may be known to
the ends of
the earth that God rules over Jacob.
Selah And at evening let them return; and let them make a noise like a dog, and go round about the city.
Let
them wander up and down for meat, and
grudge if
they be not satisfied.
But I will sing of thy power;
yea, I will sing
aloud of thy mercy in
the morning: for thou hast been my defence and refuge in
the day of my trouble.
But I will sing of Your strength and
proclaim Your loving devotion in
the morning. For You are my fortress, my refuge in times of trouble.
Unto thee, O my strength, will I sing: for God is my defence, and the God of my mercy.
To You, O my strength, I sing praises, for You, O God, are my fortress, my God of loving devotion.
Thou hast made
the earth to
tremble; thou hast broken it:
heal the breaches
thereof; for it shaketh.
Thou hast shewed thy people hard things: thou hast made us to drink
the wine of
astonishment.
You have shown Your people
hardship; we are
staggered from
the wine You made us drink.
Thou hast given a
banner to
them that fear
thee, that it may be displayed because of
the truth.
Selah.
You have raised a
banner for those who fear You, that
they may
flee the bow.
Selah God has spoken from His sanctuary: “I will triumph! I will
parcel out
Shechem and
apportion the Valley of Succoth.
Who will bring me into
the strong city? who will lead me into
Edom?
Who will bring me to
the fortified city? Who will lead me to
Edom?
Give us help from trouble: for vain is the help of man.
Give us aid against the enemy, for the help of man is worthless.
From
the end of
the earth will I cry unto
thee, when my heart is
overwhelmed: lead me to
the rock that is higher than I.
From
the ends of
the earth I call out to You whenever my heart is
faint. Lead me to
the rock that is higher than I.
