memorial in a book, and
rehearse it in the ears of Joshua: for I will
utterly put out the
remembrance of Amalek from under heaven.
Then the LORD said to Moses, “Write this on a
scroll as a reminder and
recite it to Joshua, because I will
utterly blot out the memory of Amalek from under heaven.”

utterly refuse to give her unto him, he shall pay money according to the
dowry of virgins.

bridal price of a virgin.

If
anyone sacrifices to any god other than the LORD alone, he must be set apart for destruction.
Thou shalt not bow down to their gods, nor serve them, nor do after their works: but thou shalt utterly overthrow them, and quite break down their images.
You must not bow down to their gods or serve them or follow their practices. Instead, you are to
demolish them and
smash their sacred stones to pieces.
He is a
leprous man, he is unclean: the priest shall
pronounce him
utterly unclean; his plague is in his head.
the man is diseased; he is unclean. The priest must
pronounce him unclean because of the
infection on his head.
And yet for all that, when they be in the land of their enemies, I will not cast them away, neither will I
abhor them, to destroy them
utterly, and to break my covenant with them: for I am the LORD their God.
Yet in spite of this, when they are in the land of their enemies, I will not
reject or
despise them so as to destroy them and break My covenant with them; for I am the LORD their God.
Because he hath
despised the word of the LORD, and hath broken his commandment, that soul shall
utterly be cut off; his iniquity shall be upon him.
He shall certainly be cut off, because he has
despised the word of the LORD and broken His commandment; his guilt remains on him.”
And Israel
vowed a
vow unto the LORD, and said, If thou
wilt indeed deliver this people into my hand, then I will
utterly destroy their cities.
So Israel made a
vow to the LORD: “If You will deliver this people into our hands, we will
devote their cities to destruction.”
And the LORD
hearkened to the voice of Israel, and delivered up the
Canaanites; and they
utterly destroyed them and their cities: and he called the name of the place Hormah.

Canaanites. Israel devoted them and their cities to destruction; so they named the place Hormah.
But if her husband hath
utterly made them void on the day he heard them; then
whatsoever proceeded out of her lips concerning her vows, or concerning the bond of her soul, shall not stand: her husband hath made them void; and the LORD shall
forgive her.
But if her husband nullifies them on the day he hears of them, then nothing that came from her lips, whether her vows or pledges, shall stand. Her husband has
nullified them, and the LORD will
absolve her.
And we took all his cities at that time, and utterly destroyed the men, and the women, and the little ones, of every city, we left none to remain:
At that time we captured all his cities and devoted to destruction the people of every city, including women and children. We left no survivors.
And we
utterly destroyed them, as we did unto Sihon king of
Heshbon,
utterly destroying the men, women, and children, of every city.
We devoted them to destruction, as we had done to Sihon king of
Heshbon,
utterly destroying the men, women, and children of every city.
I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day, that ye shall soon
utterly perish from off the land
whereunto ye go over Jordan to possess it; ye shall not
prolong your days upon it, but shall
utterly be destroyed.
I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you this day that you will quickly perish from the land that you are crossing the Jordan to possess. You will not live long upon it, but will be utterly destroyed.
And when the LORD thy God shall deliver them before thee; thou shalt
smite them, and
utterly destroy them; thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor
shew mercy unto them:
and when the LORD your God has delivered them over to you to defeat them, then you must
devote them to complete destruction. Make no treaty with them and show them no mercy.
Neither shalt thou bring an
abomination into thine house, lest thou be a
cursed thing like it: but thou shalt
utterly detest it, and thou shalt
utterly abhor it; for it is a
cursed thing.
And you must not bring any
detestable thing into your house, or you, like it, will be set apart for destruction. You are to
utterly detest and
abhor it, because it is set apart for destruction.
Ye shall utterly destroy all the places, wherein the nations which ye shall possess served their gods, upon the high mountains, and upon the hills, and under every green tree:
Destroy completely all the places where the nations you are dispossessing have served their gods—
atop the high mountains, on the hills, and under every green tree.
Thou shalt surely
smite the inhabitants of that city with the edge of the sword, destroying it
utterly, and all that is therein, and the cattle thereof, with the edge of the sword.
you must surely put the inhabitants of that city to the sword.
Devote to destruction all its people and
livestock.
For I know that after my death ye will
utterly corrupt
yourselves, and turn aside from the way which I have commanded you; and evil will
befall you in the latter days; because ye will do evil in the sight of the LORD, to
provoke him to anger through the work of your hands.
For I know that after my death you will become
utterly corrupt and turn from the path I have commanded you. And in the days to come,
disaster will
befall you because you will do evil in the sight of the LORD to
provoke Him to anger by the work of your hands.”
For we have heard how the LORD dried up the water of the Red sea for you, when ye came out of Egypt; and what ye did unto the two kings of the
Amorites, that were on the other side Jordan, Sihon and
Og, whom ye
utterly destroyed.
For we have heard how the LORD dried up the waters of the Red Sea before you when you came out of Egypt, and what you did to Sihon and
Og, the two kings of the
Amorites across the Jordan, whom you devoted to destruction.
And they
utterly destroyed all that was in the city, both man and woman, young and old, and ox, and sheep, and
ass, with the edge of the sword.
At the edge of the sword they devoted to destruction everything in the city—man and woman, young and old, oxen, sheep, and
donkeys.
For Joshua drew not his hand back,
wherewith he stretched out the
spear, until he had
utterly destroyed all the inhabitants of
Ai.
Joshua did not draw back the hand that held his battle
lance until he had devoted to destruction all who lived in
Ai.
Now it came to pass, when Adoni-zedek king of Jerusalem had heard how Joshua had taken
Ai, and had
utterly destroyed it; as he had done to
Jericho and her king, so he had done to
Ai and her king; and how the inhabitants of
Gibeon had made peace with Israel, and were among them;
Now Adoni-zedek king of Jerusalem heard that Joshua had captured
Ai and devoted it to destruction—doing to
Ai and its king as he had done to
Jericho and its king—and that the people of
Gibeon had made peace with Israel and were living near them.
And that day Joshua took Makkedah, and
smote it with the edge of the sword, and the king thereof he
utterly destroyed, them, and all the souls that were therein; he let none remain: and he did to the king of Makkedah as he did unto the king of
Jericho.
On that day Joshua captured Makkedah and put it to the sword, along with its king. He devoted to destruction
everyone in the city, leaving no survivors. So he did to the king of Makkedah as he had done to the king of
Jericho.
And they took it on that day, and
smote it with the edge of the sword, and all the souls that were therein he
utterly destroyed that day, according to all that he had done to
Lachish.
That day they captured
Eglon and put it to the sword, and Joshua devoted to destruction
everyone in the city, just as he had done to
Lachish.
And they took it, and
smote it with the edge of the sword, and the king thereof, and all the cities thereof, and all the souls that were therein; he left none remaining, according to all that he had done to
Eglon; but destroyed it
utterly, and all the souls that were therein.
They captured it and put to the sword its king, all its villages, and all the people. Joshua left no survivors, just as he had done at
Eglon; he devoted to destruction
Hebron and
everyone in it.
And he took it, and the king thereof, and all the cities thereof; and they
smote them with the edge of the sword, and
utterly destroyed all the souls that were therein; he left none remaining: as he had done to
Hebron, so he did to Debir, and to the king thereof; as he had done also to
Libnah, and to her king.
And they captured Debir, its king, and all its villages. They put them to the sword and devoted to destruction
everyone in the city, leaving no survivors. Joshua did to Debir and its king as he had done to
Hebron and as he had done to
Libnah and its king.
So Joshua
smote all the country of the hills, and of the south, and of the
vale, and of the springs, and all their kings: he left none remaining, but
utterly destroyed all that breathed, as the LORD God of Israel commanded.
So Joshua conquered the whole region—the hill country, the Negev, the foothills, and the slopes, together with all their kings—leaving no survivors. He devoted to destruction everything that breathed, just as the LORD, the God of Israel, had commanded.
And they
smote all the souls that were therein with the edge of the sword,
utterly destroying them: there was not any left to
breathe: and he burnt Hazor with fire.
The Israelites put
everyone in Hazor to the sword,
devoting them to destruction. Nothing that breathed remained, and Joshua burned down Hazor itself.
And all the cities of those kings, and all the kings of them, did Joshua take, and
smote them with the edge of the sword, and he
utterly destroyed them, as Moses the servant of the LORD commanded.
Joshua captured all these kings and their cities and put them to the sword. He devoted them to destruction, as Moses the LORD’s servant had commanded.
For it was of the LORD to
harden their hearts, that they should come against Israel in battle, that he might destroy them
utterly, and that they might have no favour, but that he might destroy them, as the LORD commanded Moses.
For it was of the LORD to
harden their hearts to
engage Israel in battle, so that they would be set apart for destruction and would receive no mercy, being
annihilated as the LORD had commanded Moses.
And at that time came Joshua, and cut off the Anakims from the mountains, from
Hebron, from Debir, from Anab, and from all the mountains of Judah, and from all the mountains of Israel: Joshua destroyed them
utterly with their cities.
At that time Joshua proceeded to
eliminate the
Anakim from the hill country of
Hebron, Debir, and Anab, and from all the hill country of Judah and of Israel. Joshua devoted them to destruction, along with their cities.
Yet it came to pass, when the children of Israel were
waxen strong, that they put the
Canaanites to tribute; but did not
utterly drive them out.
However, when the Israelites grew stronger, they put the
Canaanites to forced labor; but they failed to drive them out completely.
And Judah went with
Simeon his brother, and they
slew the
Canaanites that inhabited Zephath, and
utterly destroyed it. And the name of the city was called Hormah.
Then the men of Judah went with their brothers the Simeonites, attacked the
Canaanites living in Zephath, and devoted the city to destruction. So it was called Hormah.
And it came to pass, when Israel was strong, that they put the
Canaanites to tribute, and did not
utterly drive them out.
When Israel became stronger, they pressed the
Canaanites into forced labor, but they never drove them out completely.
And her father said, I
verily thought that thou hadst
utterly hated her; therefore I gave her to thy companion: is not her younger sister fairer than she? take her, I pray thee, instead of her.
“I was sure that you thoroughly
hated her,” said her father, “so I gave her to one of the men who accompanied you. Is not her younger sister more beautiful than she? Please take her instead.”
And this is the thing that ye shall do, Ye shall
utterly destroy every male, and every woman that hath
lain by man.
This is what you are to do:
Devote to destruction every male, as well as every female who has had relations with a man.”
Now go and
smite Amalek, and
utterly destroy all that they have, and
spare them not; but
slay both man and woman, infant and
suckling, ox and sheep,
camel and
ass.
Now go and attack the
Amalekites and
devote to destruction all that belongs to them. Do not
spare them, but put to death men and women, children and infants, oxen and sheep, camels and
donkeys.’”
And he took
Agag the king of the
Amalekites alive, and
utterly destroyed all the people with the edge of the sword.
He captured
Agag king of Amalek alive, but devoted all the others to destruction with the sword.
But Saul and the people
spared Agag, and the best of the sheep, and of the oxen, and of the fatlings, and the lambs, and all that was good, and would not
utterly destroy them: but every thing that was
vile and refuse, that they destroyed
utterly.
Saul and his troops
spared Agag, along with the best of the sheep and cattle, the fat
calves and lambs, and the best of everything else. They were unwilling to destroy them, but they devoted to destruction all that was
despised and worthless.
And Saul said, They have brought them from the
Amalekites: for the people
spared the best of the sheep and of the oxen, to sacrifice unto the LORD thy God; and the rest we have
utterly destroyed.
Saul answered, “The troops brought them from the
Amalekites; they
spared the best sheep and cattle to sacrifice to the LORD your God, but the rest we devoted to destruction.”
And the LORD sent thee on a journey, and said, Go and
utterly destroy the sinners the
Amalekites, and fight against them until they be consumed.
and sent you on a mission, saying, ‘Go and
devote to destruction the sinful
Amalekites. Fight against them until you have
wiped them out.’
And Saul said unto Samuel,
Yea, I have obeyed the voice of the LORD, and have gone the way which the LORD sent me, and have brought
Agag the king of Amalek, and have
utterly destroyed the
Amalekites.
“But I did obey the LORD,” Saul replied. “I went on the mission that the LORD gave me. I brought back
Agag king of Amalek and devoted the
Amalekites to destruction.
But the people took of the
spoil, sheep and oxen, the chief of the things which should have been
utterly destroyed, to sacrifice unto the LORD thy God in
Gilgal.
The troops took sheep and cattle from the
plunder, the best of the things devoted to destruction, in order to sacrifice them to the LORD your God at
Gilgal.”
And Achish believed David, saying, He hath made his people Israel
utterly to
abhor him; therefore he shall be my servant for ever.
So Achish trusted David, thinking, “Since he has made himself an utter
stench to his people Israel, he will be my servant
forever.”
And he also that is
valiant, whose heart is as the heart of a lion, shall
utterly melt: for all Israel knoweth that thy father is a mighty man, and they which be with him are
valiant men.
Then even the most
valiant soldier with the heart of a lion will
melt with fear, because all Israel knows that your father is a mighty man who has
valiant men with him.
But the man that shall touch them must be
fenced with iron and the staff of a
spear; and they shall be
utterly burned with fire in the same place.
The man who touches them must be armed with iron or with the shaft of a
spear. The fire burns them to ashes in the place where they lie.”
Their children that were left after them in the land, whom the children of Israel also were not able
utterly to destroy, upon those did Solomon
levy a tribute of
bondservice unto this day.
their descendants who remained in the land, those whom the Israelites were unable to
devote to destruction—Solomon conscripted these people to be forced laborers, as they are to this day.
Behold, thou hast heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all lands, by destroying them utterly: and shalt thou be delivered?
Surely you have heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all the other countries,
devoting them to destruction. Will you then be
spared?
And these written by name came in the days of
Hezekiah king of Judah, and
smote their tents, and the habitations that were found there, and destroyed them
utterly unto this day, and dwelt in their rooms: because there was pasture there for their flocks.
These who were noted by name came in the days of
Hezekiah king of Judah. They attacked the Hamites and Meunites there in their dwellings,
devoting them to destruction even to this day. Then they settled in their place, because there was pasture for their flocks.
For the children of
Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of mount
Seir,
utterly to
slay and destroy them: and when they had made an end of the inhabitants of
Seir, every one helped to destroy another.
The
Ammonites and Moabites rose up against the inhabitants of Mount
Seir,
devoting them to destruction. And when they had made an end to the inhabitants of
Seir, they helped to destroy one another.
Now when all this was finished, all Israel that were present went out to the cities of Judah, and
brake the images in pieces, and cut down the groves, and threw down the high places and the altars out of all Judah and Benjamin, in Ephraim also and
Manasseh, until they had
utterly destroyed them all. Then all the children of Israel returned, every man to his possession, into their own cities.
When all this had ended, the Israelites in attendance went out to the cities of Judah and broke up the sacred pillars,
chopped down the Asherah poles, and
tore down the high places and altars throughout Judah and Benjamin, as well as in Ephraim and
Manasseh, until they had
utterly destroyed them all. Then all the Israelites returned to their cities, each to his own property.
Who was there among all the gods of those nations that my fathers utterly destroyed, that could deliver his people out of mine hand, that your God should be able to deliver you out of mine hand?
Who among all the gods of these nations that my fathers devoted to destruction has been able to deliver his people from my hand? How then can your God deliver you from my hand?
Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth him with his hand.
Though he falls, he will not be
overwhelmed, for the LORD is holding his hand.
How are they brought into
desolation, as in a moment! they are
utterly consumed with terrors.
How suddenly they are laid waste, completely swept away by terrors!
Nevertheless my lovingkindness will I not utterly take from him, nor suffer my faithfulness to fail.
But I will not withdraw My loving devotion from him, nor ever
betray My faithfulness.
I will keep thy statutes: O
forsake me not
utterly.
I will keep Your statutes; do not
utterly forsake me.
And take not the word of truth utterly out of my mouth; for I have hoped in thy judgments.
Never take Your word of truth from my mouth, for I hope in Your judgments.
The proud have had me greatly in
derision: yet have I not declined from thy law.
Many waters cannot
quench love, neither can the floods
drown it: if a man would give all the substance of his house for love, it would
utterly be
contemned.
Mighty waters cannot
quench love; rivers cannot
sweep it away. If a man were to give all the wealth of his house for love, his offer would be
utterly scorned.
And the idols he shall
utterly abolish.
and the idols will
vanish completely.
Then said I, Lord, how long? And he answered, Until the cities be wasted without inhabitant, and the houses without man, and the land be
utterly desolate,
Then I asked: “How long, O Lord?” And He replied: “Until the cities lie ruined and without inhabitant, until the houses are left unoccupied and the land is
desolate and
ravaged,
And the LORD have removed men far away, and there be a great
forsaking in the midst of the land.
until the LORD has driven men far away and the land is
utterly forsaken.
And the LORD shall
utterly destroy the tongue of the Egyptian sea; and with his mighty wind shall he
shake his hand over the river, and shall
smite it in the seven streams, and make men go over
dryshod.
The LORD will
devote to destruction the gulf of the Sea of Egypt; with a
scorching wind He will
sweep His hand over the Euphrates. He will split it into seven streams for men to cross with dry
sandals.
Therefore shall Moab
howl for Moab, every one shall
howl: for the foundations of Kir-hareseth shall ye
mourn; surely they are
stricken.
Therefore let Moab
wail; let them
wail together for Moab.
Moan for the
raisin cakes of Kir-hareseth, you who are
utterly stricken.
The land shall be
utterly emptied, and
utterly spoiled: for the LORD hath spoken this word.
The earth will be
utterly laid waste and thoroughly
plundered. For the LORD has spoken this word.
The earth is utterly broken down, the earth is clean dissolved, the earth is moved exceedingly.
The earth is
utterly broken apart, the earth is split open, the earth is
shaken violently.
For the
indignation of the LORD is upon all nations, and his
fury upon all their armies: he hath
utterly destroyed them, he hath delivered them to the slaughter.
The LORD is
angry with all the nations and
furious with all their armies. He will
devote them to destruction; He will give them over to slaughter.
Behold, thou hast heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all lands by destroying them utterly; and shalt thou be delivered?
Surely you have heard what the kings of Assyria have done to all the other countries,
devoting them to destruction. Will you then be
spared?
Even the youths shall
faint and be
weary, and the young men shall
utterly fall:
Neither let the son of the stranger, that hath joined himself to the LORD, speak, saying, The LORD hath
utterly separated me from his people: neither let the
eunuch say, Behold, I am a dry tree.
Let no foreigner who has joined himself to the LORD say, “The LORD will
utterly exclude me from His people.” And let the
eunuch not say, “I am but a dry tree.”
For the nation and kingdom that will not serve thee shall perish;
yea, those nations shall be
utterly wasted.
For the nation or kingdom that will not serve you will perish; it will be utterly destroyed.
For the house of Israel and the house of Judah have dealt very
treacherously against me, saith the LORD.
For the house of Israel and the house of Judah have been utterly unfaithful to Me,” declares the LORD.
Take ye
heed every one of his neighbour, and trust ye not in any brother: for every brother will
utterly supplant, and every neighbour will walk with slanders.
But if they will not obey, I will
utterly pluck up and destroy that nation, saith the LORD.
But if they will not obey, then I will
uproot that nation; I will
uproot it and destroy it, declares the LORD.”
Hast thou
utterly rejected Judah? hath thy soul
lothed Zion? why hast thou
smitten us, and there is no
healing for us? we looked for peace, and there is no good; and for the time of
healing, and behold trouble!
Have You rejected Judah completely? Do You
despise Zion? Why have You
stricken us so that we are beyond
healing? We hoped for peace, but no good has come, and for the time of
healing, but there was only terror.
But the LORD is with me as a mighty terrible one: therefore my persecutors shall
stumble, and they shall not prevail: they shall be greatly
ashamed; for they shall not
prosper: their
everlasting confusion shall never be forgotten.
But the LORD is with me like a
fearsome warrior. Therefore, my persecutors will
stumble and will not prevail. Since they have not succeeded, they will be
utterly put to shame, with an
everlasting disgrace that will never be forgotten.
Therefore, behold, I, even I, will
utterly forget you, and I will
forsake you, and the city that I gave you and your fathers, and cast you out of my presence:
therefore I will surely
forget you and will cast you out of My presence, both you and the city that I gave to you and your fathers.
Behold, I will send and take all the families of the north, saith the LORD, and Nebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon, my servant, and will bring them against this land, and against the inhabitants thereof, and against all these nations round about, and will
utterly destroy them, and make them an
astonishment, and an
hissing, and perpetual desolations.
behold, I will
summon all the families of the north, declares the LORD, and I will send for My servant
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, whom I will bring against this land, against its residents, and against all the surrounding nations. So I will
devote them to destruction and make them an object of
horror and contempt, an
everlasting desolation.
For, lo, I begin to bring evil on the city which is called by my name, and should ye be utterly unpunished? Ye shall not be unpunished: for I will call for a sword upon all the inhabitants of the earth, saith the LORD of hosts.
For behold, I am beginning to bring
disaster on the city that bears My Name, so how could you possibly go unpunished? You will not go unpunished, for I am calling down a sword upon all the inhabitants of the earth, declares the LORD of Hosts.’
Go up against the land of Merathaim, even against it, and against the inhabitants of Pekod: waste and utterly destroy after them, saith the LORD, and do according to all that I have commanded thee.
Go up against the land of Merathaim, and against the residents of Pekod. Kill them and
devote them to destruction. Do all that I have commanded you,” declares the LORD.
Come against her from the utmost border, open her storehouses: cast her up as heaps, and destroy her utterly: let nothing of her be left.
Come against her from the
farthest border. Break open her
granaries; pile her up like mounds of grain.
Devote her to destruction; leave her no survivors.
Against him that bendeth let the archer bend his bow, and against him that lifteth himself up in his
brigandine: and
spare ye not her young men; destroy ye
utterly all her host.
Do not let the archer bend his bow or put on his
armor. Do not
spare her young men;
devote all her army to destruction!
Thus saith the LORD of hosts; The broad walls of Babylon shall be
utterly broken, and her high gates shall be burned with fire; and the people shall labour in vain, and the
folk in the fire, and they shall be
weary.
This is what the LORD of Hosts says: “Babylon’s thick walls will be leveled, and her high gates consumed by fire. So the labor of the people will be for nothing; the nations will
exhaust themselves to fuel the flames.”
But thou hast
utterly rejected us; thou art very
wroth against us.
unless You have
utterly rejected us and remain
angry with us beyond measure.
Slay utterly old and young, both maids, and little children, and women: but come not near any man upon whom is the mark; and begin at my sanctuary. Then they began at the ancient men which were before the house.
Slaughter the old men, the young men and maidens, the women and children; but do not go near
anyone who has the mark. Now begin at My sanctuary.” So they began with the elders who were before the temple.
Yea, behold, being planted, shall it
prosper? shall it not
utterly wither, when the east wind toucheth it? it shall wither in the furrows where it grew.
Even if it is
transplanted, will it
flourish? Will it not completely wither when the east wind strikes? It will wither on the bed where it
sprouted.’”
But the house of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness: they walked not in my statutes, and they
despised my judgments, which if a man do, he shall even live in them; and my sabbaths they greatly
polluted: then I said, I would pour out my
fury upon them in the wilderness, to
consume them.
Yet the house of Israel rebelled against Me in the wilderness. They did not follow My statutes and they rejected My ordinances—though the man who does these things will live by them—and they
utterly profaned My Sabbaths. Then I resolved to pour out My wrath upon them and put an end to them in the wilderness.
And they shall make themselves
utterly bald for thee, and
gird them with
sackcloth, and they shall
weep for thee with bitterness of heart and bitter
wailing.
Behold, therefore I am against thee, and against thy rivers, and I will make the land of Egypt
utterly waste and
desolate, from the tower of
Syene even unto the border of
Ethiopia.
therefore I am against you and against your rivers. I will turn the land of Egypt into a ruin, a
desolate wasteland from
Migdol to
Syene, and as far as the border of
Cush.
But
tidings out of the east and out of the north shall trouble him: therefore he shall go forth with great
fury to destroy, and
utterly to make away many.
But news from the east and the north will
alarm him, and he will go out with great
fury to destroy many and
devote them to destruction.
And she conceived again, and bare a daughter. And God said unto him, Call her name Lo-ruhamah: for I will no more have mercy upon the house of Israel; but I will utterly take them away.
Gomer again conceived and gave birth to a daughter, and the LORD said to
Hosea, “Name her Lo-ruhamah, for I will no longer have
compassion on the house of Israel, that I should ever
forgive them.
So shall
Bethel do unto you because of your great wickedness: in a morning shall the king of Israel
utterly be cut off.
Thus it will be done to you, O
Bethel, because of your great wickedness. When the day dawns, the king of Israel will be
utterly cut off.
Behold, the eyes of the Lord GOD are upon the sinful kingdom, and I will destroy it from off the face of the earth; saving that I will not utterly destroy the house of Jacob, saith the LORD.
Surely the eyes of the Lord GOD are on the sinful kingdom, and I will destroy it from the face of the earth. Yet I will not utterly destroy the house of Jacob,” declares the LORD.
In that day shall one take up a parable against you, and
lament with a
doleful lamentation, and say, We be
utterly spoiled: he hath changed the portion of my people: how hath he removed it from me! turning away he hath divided our fields.
In that day they will take up a
proverb against you and
taunt you with this bitter
lamentation: ‘We are
utterly ruined! He has changed the portion of my people. How He has removed it from me! He has
allotted our fields to traitors.’”
Behold upon the mountains the feet of him that bringeth good
tidings, that publisheth peace! O Judah, keep thy solemn feasts, perform thy vows: for the wicked shall no more pass through thee; he is
utterly cut off.
Look to the mountains— the feet of one who brings good news, who proclaims peace!
Celebrate your feasts, O Judah;
fulfill your vows. For the wicked will never again march through you; they will be
utterly cut off.
Behold ye among the heathen, and regard, and wonder marvellously: for I will work a work in your days, which ye will not believe, though it be told you.
“Look at the nations and observe— be
utterly astounded! For I am doing a work in your days that you would never believe even if someone told you.
I will
utterly consume all things from off the land, saith the LORD.
“I will completely
sweep away everything from the face of the earth,” declares the LORD.
