porch of the LORD.
When
Asa heard these words and the prophecy of
Azariah son of
Oded the prophet, he took courage and removed the

Beersheba to the hill
country of Ephraim and turned them back to the LORD, the God of their fathers.
Also he built towers in the desert, and
digged many wells: for he had much cattle, both in the low
country, and in the plains:
husbandmen also, and vine dressers in the mountains, and in
Carmel: for he loved
husbandry.
Since he had much
livestock in the foothills and in the plain, he built towers in the desert and
dug many cisterns. And since he was a lover of the soil, he had farmers and vinedressers in the hill
country and in the fertile fields.
Moreover he built cities in the mountains of Judah, and in the forests he built castles and towers.

passover, and
sanctify yourselves, and prepare your brethren, that they may do according to the word of the LORD by the hand of Moses.
Slaughter the
Passover lambs,
consecrate yourselves, and make preparations for your fellow
countrymen to carry out the word of the LORD given by Moses.”
After him repaired their brethren, Bavai the son of Henadad, the ruler of the half part of Keilah.

Yet now our flesh is as the flesh of our brethren, our children as their children: and, lo, we bring into
bondage our sons and our daughters to be servants, and some of our daughters are brought unto
bondage already: neither is it in our power to
redeem them; for other men have our lands and vineyards.
We and our children are just like our
countrymen and their children, yet we are subjecting our sons and daughters to slavery. Some of our daughters are already
enslaved, but we are powerless to
redeem them because our fields and vineyards belong to others.”
And that they should
publish and

fetch olive branches, and pine branches, and
myrtle branches, and palm branches, and branches of thick trees, to make booths, as it is written.

country and bring back branches of olive, wild olive,
myrtle, palm, and other
leafy trees, to make booths, as it is written.”

For
Mordecai the
Jew was next unto king
Ahasuerus, and great among the Jews, and accepted of the multitude of his brethren, seeking the wealth of his people, and speaking peace to all his seed.
For
Mordecai the
Jew was second only to King
Xerxes, preeminent among the Jews and highly favored by his many
kinsmen, seeking the good of his people and speaking peace to all his
countrymen.
He spake, and there came
divers sorts of
flies, and
lice in all their coasts.
He spoke, and insects
swarmed— gnats throughout their
country.
He
smote their vines also and their fig trees; and
brake the trees of their coasts.
He struck their vines and fig trees and
shattered the trees of their
country.
As cold waters to a
thirsty soul, so is good news from a far
country.
Like cold water to a
weary soul is good news from a distant land.
The flowers appear on the earth; the time of the singing of birds is come, and the voice of the
turtle is heard in our land;
The flowers have appeared in the
countryside; the season of singing has come, and the
cooing of turtledoves is heard in our land.
Come, my beloved, let us go forth into the field; let us
lodge in the villages.
Come, my beloved, let us go to the
countryside; let us
spend the night among the wildflowers.
Your
country is
desolate, your cities are burned with fire: your land, strangers
devour it in your presence, and it is
desolate, as overthrown by strangers.
They come from a far
country, from the end of heaven, even the LORD, and the weapons of his
indignation, to destroy the whole land.
They are coming from faraway lands, from the ends of the heavens— the LORD and the weapons of His wrath— to destroy the whole country.
He will surely violently turn and
toss thee like a ball into a large
country: there shalt thou die, and there the
chariots of thy glory shall be the shame of thy lord’s house.
roll you into a ball, and
sling you into a wide land. There you will die, and there your glorious
chariots will remain—a disgrace to the house of your master.
Then came Isaiah the prophet unto king
Hezekiah, and said unto him, What said these men? and from whence came they unto thee? And
Hezekiah said, They are come from a far
country unto me, even from Babylon.
Then the prophet Isaiah went to King
Hezekiah and asked, “Where did those men come from, and what did they say to you?” “They came to me from a distant land,”
Hezekiah replied, “from Babylon.”
Calling a
ravenous bird from the east, the man that executeth my counsel from a far
country:
yea, I have spoken it, I will also bring it to pass; I have purposed it, I will also do it.
I
summon a bird of prey from the east, a man for My purpose from a far-off land. Truly I have spoken, and truly I will bring it to pass. I have
planned it, and I will surely do it.
Who hath heard such a thing? who hath seen such things? Shall the earth be made to bring forth in one day? or shall a nation be born at once? for as soon as
Zion travailed, she brought forth her children.
Who has heard of such as this? Who has seen such things? Can a
country be born in a day or a nation be delivered in an instant? Yet as soon as
Zion was in labor, she gave birth to her children.
I brought you into a fertile land to eat its fruit and
bounty, but you came and
defiled My land, and made My inheritance
detestable.
Make ye mention to the nations; behold,
publish against Jerusalem, that watchers come from a far
country, and give out their voice against the cities of Judah.
Warn the nations now!
Proclaim to Jerusalem: “A
besieging army comes from a distant land; they raise their voices against the cities of Judah.
To what purpose cometh there to me incense from
Sheba, and the sweet cane from a far
country? your burnt offerings are not acceptable, nor your sacrifices sweet unto me.
What use to Me is
frankincense from
Sheba or sweet cane from a distant land? Your burnt offerings are not acceptable; your sacrifices do not please Me.”
