Berean Standard Bible BSB Bible
Notwithstanding thou mayest kill and eat flesh in all thy gates,
whatsoever thy soul lusteth after, according to the blessing of the LORD thy God which he hath
given thee: the unclean and the clean may eat thereof, as of the
roebuck, and as of the
hart.
But whenever you want, you may slaughter and eat meat within any of your gates, according to the blessing the LORD your God has
given you. Both the
ceremonially clean and unclean may eat it as they would a
gazelle or deer,
Thou mayest not eat within thy gates the
tithe of thy corn, or of thy wine, or of thy oil, or the firstlings of thy herds or of thy flock, nor any of thy vows which thou vowest, nor thy
freewill offerings, or
heave offering of thine hand:
Within your gates you must not eat the
tithe of your grain or new wine or oil, the
firstborn of your herds or flocks, any of the offerings that you have
vowed to
give, or your
freewill offerings or special gifts.
If the place which the LORD thy God hath chosen to put his name there be too far from thee, then thou shalt kill of thy
herd and of thy flock, which the LORD hath
given thee, as I have commanded thee, and thou shalt eat in thy gates
whatsoever thy soul lusteth after.
If the place where the LORD your God chooses to put His Name is too far from you, then you may slaughter any of the
herd or flock He has
given you, as I have commanded you, and you may eat it within your gates whenever you want.
If there arise among you a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and giveth thee a sign or a wonder,
If a prophet or dreamer of dreams arises among you and proclaims a sign or wonder to you,
If thou shalt hear say in one of thy cities, which the LORD thy God hath given thee to dwell there, saying,
If, regarding one of the cities the LORD your God is giving you to inhabit, you hear it said
Ye shall not eat of any thing that dieth of itself: thou shalt
give it unto the stranger that is in thy gates, that he may eat it; or thou mayest sell it unto an
alien: for thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God. Thou shalt not
seethe a
kid in his mother’s milk.
You are not to eat any
carcass; you may
give it to the foreigner residing within your gates, and he may eat it, or you may sell it to a foreigner. For you are a holy people belonging to the LORD your God. You must not
cook a young goat in its mother’s milk.
Save when there shall be no poor among you; for the LORD shall greatly
bless thee in the land which the LORD thy God
giveth thee for an inheritance to possess it:
There will be no poor among you, however, because the LORD will surely
bless you in the land that the LORD your God is giving you to possess as an inheritance,
If there be among you a poor man of one of thy brethren within any of thy gates in thy land which the LORD thy God
giveth thee, thou shalt not
harden thine heart, nor shut thine hand from thy poor brother:
If there is a poor man among your brothers within any of the gates in the land that the LORD your God is giving you, then you are not to
harden your heart or shut your hand from your poor brother.
Beware that there be not a thought in thy wicked heart, saying, The seventh year, the year of release, is at hand; and thine eye be evil against thy poor brother, and thou
givest him
nought; and he cry unto the LORD against thee, and it be sin unto thee.
Be careful not to
harbor this wicked thought in your heart: “The seventh year, the year of release, is near,” so that you look upon your poor brother begrudgingly and
give him nothing. He will cry out to the LORD against you, and you will be guilty of sin.
Thou shalt surely
give him, and thine heart shall not be
grieved when thou
givest unto him: because that for this thing the LORD thy God shall
bless thee in all thy works, and in all that thou puttest thine hand unto.
Give generously to him, and do not let your heart be
grieved when you do so. And because of this the LORD your God will
bless you in all your work and in everything to which you put your hand.
Thou shalt furnish him liberally out of thy flock, and out of thy floor, and out of thy winepress: of that
wherewith the LORD thy God hath blessed thee thou shalt
give unto him.
You are to furnish him liberally from your flock, your
threshing floor, and your winepress. You shall
give to him as the LORD your God has blessed you.
Thou mayest not sacrifice the
passover within any of thy gates, which the LORD thy God
giveth thee:
You are not to sacrifice the
Passover animal in any of the towns that the LORD your God is giving you.
And thou shalt keep the feast of weeks unto the LORD thy God with a tribute of a
freewill offering of thine hand, which thou shalt
give unto the LORD thy God, according as the LORD thy God hath blessed thee:
And you shall
celebrate the Feast of Weeks to the LORD your God with a
freewill offering that you
give in proportion to how the LORD your God has blessed you,
Every man shall give as he is able, according to the blessing of the LORD thy God which he hath given thee.
Everyone must appear with a gift as he is able, according to the blessing the LORD your God has
given you.
Judges and officers shalt thou make thee in all thy gates, which the LORD thy God giveth thee, throughout thy tribes: and they shall judge the people with just judgment.
You are to
appoint judges and officials for your tribes in every town that the LORD your God is giving you. They are to judge the people with righteous judgment.
That which is altogether just shalt thou follow, that thou mayest live, and
inherit the land which the LORD thy God
giveth thee.
Pursue justice, and justice alone, so that you may live, and you may possess the land that the LORD your God is giving you.
If there be found among you, within any of thy gates which the LORD thy God
giveth thee, man or woman, that hath wrought wickedness in the sight of the LORD thy God, in
transgressing his covenant,
If a man or woman among you in one of the towns that the LORD your God
gives you is found doing evil in the sight of the LORD your God by
transgressing His covenant
And thou shalt come unto the priests the Levites, and unto the judge that shall be in those days, and
enquire; and they shall
shew thee the sentence of judgment:
You are to go to the
Levitical priests and to the judge who presides at that time. Inquire of them, and they will
give you a
verdict in the case.
And thou shalt do according to the sentence, which they of that place which the LORD shall choose shall
shew thee; and thou shalt observe to do according to all that they inform thee:
You must
abide by the
verdict they
give you at the place the LORD will choose. Be careful to do everything they
instruct you,
According to the sentence of the law which they shall teach thee, and according to the judgment which they shall tell thee, thou shalt do: thou shalt not decline from the sentence which they shall
shew thee, to the right hand, nor to the left.
according to the terms of law they
give and the
verdict they
proclaim. Do not turn aside to the right or to the left from the decision they declare to you.
When thou art come unto the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, and shalt possess it, and shalt dwell therein, and shalt say, I will set a king over me, like as all the nations that are about me;
When you enter the land that the LORD your God is giving you and have taken possession of it and settled in it, and you say, “Let us set a king over us like all the nations around us,”
And this shall be the priest’s due from the people, from them that offer a sacrifice, whether it be ox or sheep; and they shall
give unto the priest the shoulder, and the two cheeks, and the
maw.
This shall be the priests’ share from the people who offer a sacrifice, whether a bull or a sheep: the priests are to be given the shoulder, the jowls, and the stomach.
The firstfruit also of thy corn, of thy wine, and of thine oil, and the first of the
fleece of thy sheep, shalt thou
give him.
You are to
give them the firstfruits of your grain, new wine, and oil, and the first wool
sheared from your flock.
When thou art come into the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations.
When you enter the land that the LORD your God is giving you, do not
imitate the
detestable ways of the nations there.
When the LORD thy God hath cut off the nations, whose land the LORD thy God giveth thee, and thou succeedest them, and dwellest in their cities, and in their houses;
When the LORD your God has cut off the nations whose land He is giving you, and when you have driven them out and settled in their cities and houses,
Thou shalt separate three cities for thee in the midst of thy land, which the LORD thy God giveth thee to possess it.
then you are to set apart for
yourselves three cities within the land that the LORD your God is giving you to possess.
Thou shalt prepare thee a way, and divide the coasts of thy land, which the LORD thy God
giveth thee to
inherit, into three parts, that every
slayer may
flee thither.
You are to build roads for
yourselves and divide into three regions the land that the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance, so that any
manslayer can
flee to these cities.
And if the LORD thy God
enlarge thy coast, as he hath
sworn unto thy fathers, and
give thee all the land which he promised to
give unto thy fathers;
And if the LORD your God enlarges your territory, as He
swore to your fathers, and
gives you all the land He promised them,
That innocent blood be not shed in thy land, which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance, and so blood be upon thee.
Thus innocent blood will not be shed in the land that the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance, so that you will not be guilty of
bloodshed.
Thou shalt not remove thy neighbour’s
landmark, which they of old time have set in thine inheritance, which thou shalt
inherit in the land that the LORD thy God
giveth thee to possess it.
You must not move your
neighbor’s boundary marker, which was set up by your ancestors to mark the inheritance you shall receive in the land that the LORD your God is giving you to possess.
For the LORD your God is he that goeth with you, to fight for you against your enemies, to save you.
For the LORD your God goes with you to fight for you against your enemies, to give you the victory.”
But the women, and the little ones, and the cattle, and all that is in the city, even all the
spoil thereof, shalt thou take unto
thyself; and thou shalt eat the
spoil of thine enemies, which the LORD thy God hath
given thee.
But the women, children,
livestock, and whatever else is in the city—all its
spoil—you may take as
plunder, and you shall use the
spoil of your enemies that the LORD your God
gives you.
But of the cities of these people, which the LORD thy God
doth give thee for an inheritance, thou shalt save alive nothing that breatheth:
However, in the cities of the nations that the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance, you must not leave alive anything that breathes.
If one be found slain in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee to possess it, lying in the field, and it be not known who hath slain him:
If one is found slain, lying in a field in the land that the LORD your God is giving you to possess, and it is not known who killed him,
And the priests the sons of Levi shall come near; for them the LORD thy God hath chosen to minister unto him, and to
bless in the name of the LORD; and by their word shall every controversy and every stroke be tried:
And the priests, the sons of Levi, shall come forward, for the LORD your God has chosen them to serve Him and
pronounce blessings in His name and to
give a ruling in every dispute and case of
assault.
His body shall not remain all night upon the tree, but thou shalt in any wise
bury him that day; (for he that is
hanged is
accursed of God;) that thy land be not
defiled, which the LORD thy God
giveth thee for an inheritance.
you must not leave the body on the tree overnight, but you must be sure to
bury him that day, because
anyone who is hung on a tree is under God’s
curse. You must not
defile the land that the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance.
And
give occasions of speech against her, and bring up an evil name upon her, and say, I took this woman, and when I came to her, I found her not a
maid:
and he then accuses her of shameful conduct and gives her a bad name, saying, “I married this woman and had relations with her, but I discovered she was not a virgin.”
And, lo, he hath
given occasions of speech against her, saying, I found not thy daughter a
maid; and yet these are the
tokens of my daughter’s
virginity. And they shall spread the cloth before the elders of the city.
And now he has accused her of shameful conduct, saying, ‘I discovered that your daughter was not a virgin.’ But here is the proof of her
virginity.” And they shall spread out the cloth before the city elders.
And they shall
amerce him in an hundred shekels of silver, and
give them unto the father of the
damsel, because he hath brought up an evil name upon a virgin of Israel: and she shall be his wife; he may not put her away all his days.
They are also to fine him a hundred shekels of silver and
give them to the young woman’s father, because this man has
given a virgin of Israel a bad name. And she shall remain his wife; he must not
divorce her as long as he lives.
Then the man that lay with her shall
give unto the
damsel’s father fifty shekels of silver, and she shall be his wife; because he hath humbled her, he may not put her away all his days.
then the man who lay with her must pay the young woman’s father fifty shekels of silver, and she must become his wife because he has
violated her. He must not
divorce her as long as he lives.
For the LORD thy God walketh in the midst of thy camp, to deliver thee, and to give up thine enemies before thee; therefore shall thy camp be holy: that he see no unclean thing in thee, and turn away from thee.
For the LORD your God walks throughout your camp to protect you and deliver your enemies to you. Your camp must be holy, lest He see anything unclean among you and turn away from you.
When a man hath taken a wife, and married her, and it come to pass that she find no favour in his eyes, because he hath found some uncleanness in her: then let him write her a bill of
divorcement, and
give it in her hand, and send her out of his house.
If a man marries a woman, but she becomes displeasing to him because he finds some
indecency in her, he may write her a
certificate of
divorce, hand it to her, and send her away from his house.
And if the latter husband
hate her, and write her a bill of
divorcement, and
giveth it in her hand, and sendeth her out of his house; or if the latter husband die, which took her to be his wife;
and the second man hates her, writes her a
certificate of
divorce, hands it to her, and sends her away from his house, or if he dies,
Her former husband, which sent her away, may not take her again to be his wife, after that she is
defiled; for that is
abomination before the LORD: and thou shalt not cause the land to sin, which the LORD thy God
giveth thee for an inheritance.
then the husband who
divorced her first may not remarry her after she has been
defiled, for that is an
abomination to the LORD. You must not bring sin upon the land that the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance.
At his day thou shalt
give him his
hire, neither shall the sun go down upon it; for he is poor, and setteth his heart upon it: lest he cry against thee unto the LORD, and it be sin unto thee.
You are to pay his wages each day before
sunset, because he is poor and depends on them. Otherwise he may cry out to the LORD against you, and you will be guilty of sin.
Forty stripes he may
give him, and not exceed: lest, if he should exceed, and beat him above these with many stripes, then thy brother should seem
vile unto thee.
He may receive no more than forty lashes, lest your brother be beaten any more than that and be
degraded in your sight.
But thou shalt have a perfect and just weight, a perfect and just measure shalt thou have: that thy days may be
lengthened in the land which the LORD thy God
giveth thee.
You must maintain accurate and
honest weights and measures, so that you may live long in the land that the LORD your God is giving you.
Therefore it shall be, when the LORD thy God hath
given thee rest from all thine enemies round about, in the land which the LORD thy God
giveth thee for an inheritance to possess it, that thou shalt
blot out the
remembrance of Amalek from under heaven; thou shalt not
forget it.
When the LORD your God
gives you rest from the enemies around you in the land that He is giving you to possess as an inheritance, you are to
blot out the memory of Amalek from under heaven. Do not
forget!
And it shall be, when thou art come in unto the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance, and possessest it, and dwellest therein;
When you enter the land that the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance, and you take possession of it and settle in it,
That thou shalt take of the first of all the fruit of the earth, which thou shalt bring of thy land that the LORD thy God
giveth thee, and shalt put it in a
basket, and shalt go unto the place which the LORD thy God shall choose to place his name there.
you are to take some of the firstfruits of all your produce from the soil of the land that the LORD your God is giving you and put them in a
basket. Then go to the place the LORD your God will choose as a dwelling for His Name,
And thou shalt go unto the priest that shall be in those days, and say unto him, I
profess this day unto the LORD thy God, that I am come unto the country which the LORD
sware unto our fathers for to
give us.
to the priest who is serving at that time, and say to him, “I declare
today to the LORD your God that I have entered the land that the LORD
swore to our fathers to
give us.”
And he hath brought us into this place, and hath given us this land, even a land that floweth with milk and honey.
And He brought us to this place and gave us this land, a land flowing with milk and honey.
And now, behold, I have brought the firstfruits of the land, which thou, O LORD, hast given me. And thou shalt set it before the LORD thy God, and worship before the LORD thy God:
And now, behold, I have brought the firstfruits of the land that You, O LORD, have
given me.” Then you are to place the
basket before the LORD your God and bow down before Him.
And thou shalt
rejoice in every good thing which the LORD thy God hath
given unto thee, and unto thine house, thou, and the
Levite, and the stranger that is among you.
So you shall
rejoice—you, the
Levite, and the foreigner dwelling among you—in all the good things the LORD your God has
given to you and your household.
When thou hast made an end of
tithing all the
tithes of thine increase the third year, which is the year of
tithing, and hast
given it unto the
Levite, the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, that they may eat within thy gates, and be filled;
When you have finished laying aside a tenth of all your produce in the third year, the year of the
tithe, you are to
give it to the
Levite, the foreigner, the fatherless, and the widow, that they may eat and be filled within your gates.
Then thou shalt say before the LORD thy God, I have brought away the
hallowed things out of mine house, and also have
given them unto the
Levite, and unto the stranger, to the fatherless, and to the widow, according to all thy commandments which thou hast commanded me: I have not
transgressed thy commandments, neither have I forgotten them:
Then you shall declare in the presence of the LORD your God, “I have removed from my house the sacred portion and have
given it to the
Levite, the foreigner, the fatherless, and the widow, according to all the commandments You have
given me. I have not
transgressed or forgotten Your commandments.
I have not eaten thereof in my
mourning, neither have I taken away ought thereof for any unclean use, nor
given ought thereof for the dead: but I have
hearkened to the voice of the LORD my God, and have done according to all that thou hast commanded me.
I have not eaten any of the sacred portion while in
mourning, or removed any of it while unclean, or offered any of it for the dead. I have obeyed the LORD my God; I have done everything You commanded me.
Look down from thy holy
habitation, from heaven, and
bless thy people Israel, and the land which thou hast
given us, as thou swarest unto our fathers, a land that floweth with milk and honey.
Look down from Your holy
habitation, from heaven, and
bless Your people Israel and the land You have
given us as You
swore to our fathers—a land flowing with milk and honey.”
And it shall be on the day when ye shall pass over Jordan unto the land which the LORD thy God
giveth thee, that thou shalt set thee up great stones, and
plaister them with
plaister:
And on the day you cross the Jordan into the land that the LORD your God is giving you, set up large stones and coat them with
plaster.
And thou shalt write upon them all the words of this law, when thou art passed over, that thou mayest go in unto the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, a land that floweth with milk and honey; as the LORD God of thy fathers hath promised thee.
Write on them all the words of this law when you have crossed over to enter the land that the LORD your God is giving you, a land flowing with milk and honey, just as the LORD, the God of your fathers, has promised you.
The LORD shall command the blessing upon thee in thy storehouses, and in all that thou settest thine hand unto; and he shall
bless thee in the land which the LORD thy God
giveth thee.
The LORD will decree a blessing on your barns and on everything to which you put your hand; the LORD your God will
bless you in the land He is giving you.
And the LORD shall make thee
plenteous in goods, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy ground, in the land which the LORD
sware unto thy fathers to
give thee.
The LORD will make you
prosper abundantly—in the fruit of your
womb, the offspring of your
livestock, and the produce of your land—in the land that the LORD
swore to your fathers to
give you.
The LORD shall open unto thee his good
treasure, the heaven to
give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to
bless all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt
lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not
borrow.
The LORD will open the heavens, His abundant
storehouse, to send rain on your land in season and to
bless all the work of your hands. You will
lend to many nations, but
borrow from none.
Thine ox shall be slain before thine eyes, and thou shalt not eat thereof: thine
ass shall be violently taken away from before thy face, and shall not be restored to thee: thy sheep shall be
given unto thine enemies, and thou shalt have none to
rescue them.
Your ox will be slaughtered before your eyes, but you will not eat any of it. Your
donkey will be taken away and not returned to you. Your flock will be
given to your enemies, and no one will save you.
Thy sons and thy daughters shall be given unto another people, and thine eyes shall look, and fail with longing for them all the day long: and there shall be no might in thine hand.
Your sons and daughters will be
given to another nation, while your eyes grow
weary looking for them day after day, with no power in your hand.
And he shall
besiege thee in all thy gates, until thy high and
fenced walls come down, wherein thou trustedst, throughout all thy land: and he shall
besiege thee in all thy gates throughout all thy land, which the LORD thy God hath
given thee.
They will
besiege all the cities throughout your land, until the high and fortified walls in which you trust have fallen. They will
besiege all your cities throughout the land that the LORD your God has
given you.
And thou shalt eat the fruit of thine own body, the flesh of thy sons and of thy daughters, which the LORD thy God hath
given thee, in the siege, and in the straitness,
wherewith thine enemies shall distress thee:
Then you will eat the fruit of your
womb, the flesh of the sons and daughters whom the LORD your God has
given you, in the siege and distress that your enemy will
inflict on you.
So that he will not
give to any of them of the flesh of his children whom he shall eat: because he hath nothing left him in the siege, and in the straitness,
wherewith thine enemies shall distress thee in all thy gates.
refusing to share with any of them the flesh of his children he will eat because he has nothing left in the siege and distress that your enemy will
inflict on you within all your gates.
And among these nations shalt thou find no ease, neither shall the sole of thy foot have rest: but the LORD shall
give thee there a
trembling heart, and failing of eyes, and sorrow of mind:
Among those nations you will find no
repose, not even a resting place for the sole of your foot. There the LORD will
give you a
trembling heart, failing eyes, and a
despairing soul.
Yet the LORD hath not given you an heart to perceive, and eyes to see, and ears to hear, unto this day.
Yet to this day the LORD has not given you a mind to understand, eyes to see, or ears to hear.
For they went and served other gods, and worshipped them, gods whom they knew not, and whom he had not given unto them:
They went and served other gods, and they worshiped gods they had not known—gods that the LORD had not given to them.
For this commandment which I command thee this day, it is not hidden from thee, neither is it far off.
For this commandment I
give you
today is not too difficult for you or beyond your reach.
That thou mayest love the LORD thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest
cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which the LORD
sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to
give them.
and that you may love the LORD your God, obey Him, and hold fast to Him. For He is your life, and He will
prolong your life in the land that the LORD
swore to
give to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.”
And the LORD shall give them up before your face, that ye may do unto them according unto all the commandments which I have commanded you.
The LORD will deliver them over to you, and you must do to them exactly as I have commanded you.
And Moses called unto Joshua, and said unto him in the sight of all Israel, Be strong and of a good courage: for thou must go with this people unto the land which the LORD hath
sworn unto their fathers to
give them; and thou shalt cause them to
inherit it.
Then Moses called for Joshua and said to him in the presence of all Israel, “Be strong and
courageous, for you will go with this people into the land that the LORD
swore to their fathers to
give them, and you shall
give it to them as an inheritance.
And the LORD said unto Moses, Behold, thy days approach that thou must die: call Joshua, and present
yourselves in the tabernacle of the congregation, that I may
give him a charge. And Moses and Joshua went, and presented themselves in the tabernacle of the congregation.
Then the LORD said to Moses, “Behold, the time of your death is near. Call Joshua and present
yourselves at the Tent of Meeting, so that I may commission him.” So Moses and Joshua went and presented themselves at the Tent of Meeting.
For when I shall have brought them into the land which I
sware unto their fathers, that floweth with milk and honey; and they shall have eaten and filled themselves, and
waxen fat; then will they turn unto other gods, and serve them, and
provoke me, and break my covenant.
When I have brought them into the land that I
swore to
give their fathers, a land flowing with milk and honey, they will eat their fill and
prosper. Then they will turn to other gods and worship them, and they will
reject Me and break My covenant.
And it shall come to pass, when many evils and troubles are
befallen them, that this song shall
testify against them as a witness; for it shall not be forgotten out of the mouths of their seed: for I know their imagination which they go about, even now, before I have brought them into the land which I
sware.
And when many troubles and afflictions have come upon them, this song will
testify against them, because it will not be forgotten from the lips of their descendants. For I know their inclination, even before I bring them into the land that I
swore to
give them.”
And he gave Joshua the son of
Nun a charge, and said, Be strong and of a good courage: for thou shalt bring the children of Israel into the land which I
sware unto them: and I will be with thee.
Then the LORD commissioned Joshua son of
Nun and said, “Be strong and
courageous, for you will bring the Israelites into the land that I
swore to
give them, and I will be with you.”
Give ear, O ye heavens, and I will speak; and hear, O earth, the words of my mouth.
Give ear, O heavens, and I will speak; hear, O earth, the words of my mouth.
How should one
chase a thousand, and two put ten thousand to flight, except their Rock had sold them, and the LORD had shut them up?
How could one man pursue a thousand, or two put ten thousand to flight, unless their Rock had sold them, unless the LORD had given them up?
Which did eat the fat of their sacrifices, and
drank the wine of their drink offerings? let them rise up and help you, and be your protection.
which
ate the fat of their sacrifices and
drank the wine of their drink offerings? Let them rise up and help you; let them
give you shelter!
See now that I, even I, am he, and there is no god with me: I kill, and I make alive; I wound, and I
heal: neither is there any that can deliver out of my hand.
See now that I am He; there is no God besides Me. I bring death and I
give life; I wound and I
heal, and there is no one who can deliver from My hand.
Get thee up into this mountain Abarim, unto mount
Nebo, which is in the land of Moab, that is over against
Jericho; and behold the land of
Canaan, which I
give unto the children of Israel for a possession:
“Go up into the Abarim Range to Mount
Nebo, in the land of Moab across from
Jericho, and view the land of
Canaan, which I am giving to the Israelites as their own possession.
Yet thou shalt see the land before thee; but thou shalt not go thither unto the land which I give the children of Israel.
Although you shall see from a distance the land that I am giving the Israelites, you shall not enter it.”
And of Levi he said, Let thy
Thummim and thy
Urim be with thy holy one, whom thou
didst prove at Massah, and with whom thou
didst strive at the waters of Meribah;
Concerning Levi he said: “
Give Your
Thummim to Levi and Your
Urim to Your godly one, whom You tested at Massah and contested at the waters of Meribah.
And the LORD said unto him, This is the land which I
sware unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, saying, I will
give it unto thy seed: I have caused thee to see it with thine eyes, but thou shalt not go over thither.
And the LORD said to him, “This is the land that I
swore to
give Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob when I said, ‘I will
give it to your descendants.’ I have let you see it with your own eyes, but you will not cross into it.”
Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel.
“Moses My servant is dead. Now therefore arise, you and all these people, and cross over the Jordan into the land that I am giving to the children of Israel.
Every place that the sole of your foot shall
tread upon, that have I
given unto you, as I said unto Moses.
I have
given you every place where the sole of your foot will
tread, just as I promised to Moses.
Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I
sware unto their fathers to
give them.
Be strong and
courageous, for you shall
give these people the inheritance of the land that I
swore to their fathers I would
give them.
Pass through the host, and command the people, saying, Prepare you
victuals; for within three days ye shall pass over this Jordan, to go in to possess the land, which the LORD your God
giveth you to possess it.
“Go through the camp and tell the people, ‘Prepare your provisions, for within three days you will cross the Jordan to go in and take possession of the land that the LORD your God is giving you to possess.’”
Remember the word which Moses the servant of the LORD commanded you, saying, The LORD your God hath given you rest, and hath given you this land.
“Remember what Moses the servant of the LORD commanded you when he said, ‘The LORD your God will give you rest, and He will give you this land.’
Until the LORD have
given your brethren rest, as he hath
given you, and they also have possessed the land which the LORD your God
giveth them: then ye shall return unto the land of your possession, and enjoy it, which Moses the LORD’S servant gave you on this side Jordan toward the
sunrising.
until the LORD gives them rest as He has done for you, and your brothers also possess the land that the LORD your God is giving them. Then you may return to the land of your inheritance and take possession of that which Moses the servant of the LORD gave you on the east side of the Jordan.”
And she said unto the men, I know that the LORD hath
given you the land, and that your terror is fallen upon us, and that all the inhabitants of the land
faint because of you.
and said to them, “I know that the LORD has given you this land and that the fear of you has fallen on us, so that all who dwell in the land are melting in fear of you.
Now therefore, I pray you,
swear unto me by the LORD, since I have shewed you kindness, that ye will also
shew kindness unto my father’s house, and
give me a true
token:
Now therefore, please
swear to me by the LORD that you will indeed show kindness to my family, because I showed kindness to you.
Give me a sure sign
And the men answered her, Our life for yours, if ye utter not this our business. And it shall be, when the LORD hath given us the land, that we will deal kindly and truly with thee.
“Our lives for your lives!” the men agreed. “If you do not report our mission, we will show you kindness and faithfulness when the LORD gives us the land.”
For the children of Israel walked forty years in the wilderness, till all the people that were men of war, which came out of Egypt, were consumed, because they obeyed not the voice of the LORD: unto whom the LORD
sware that he would not
shew them the land, which the LORD
sware unto their fathers that he would
give us, a land that floweth with milk and honey.
For the Israelites had
wandered in the wilderness forty years, until all the nation’s men of war who had come out of Egypt had died, since they did not obey the LORD. So the LORD
vowed never to let them see the land He had
sworn to their fathers to
give us, a land flowing with milk and honey.
And the LORD said unto Joshua, See, I have
given into thine hand
Jericho, and the king thereof, and the mighty men of valour.
And the LORD said to Joshua, “Behold, I have delivered
Jericho into your hand, along with its king and its mighty men of
valor.
And it shall come to pass, that when they make a long blast with the ram’s horn, and when ye hear the sound of the
trumpet, all the people shall
shout with a great
shout; and the wall of the city shall fall down flat, and the people shall
ascend up every man straight before him.
And when there is a long blast of the ram’s horn and you hear its sound, have all the people
give a mighty
shout. Then the wall of the city will
collapse and all your people will charge straight into the city.”
And Joshua had commanded the people, saying, Ye shall not
shout, nor make any noise with your voice, neither shall any word proceed out of your mouth, until the day I
bid you
shout; then shall ye
shout.
But Joshua had commanded the people: “Do not
give a battle cry or let your voice be heard; do not let one word come out of your mouth until the day I tell you to
shout. Then you are to
shout!”
