Which executeth judgment for the
oppressed: which giveth food to the
hungry. The LORD looseth the prisoners:
He executes
justice for the
oppressed and gives food to the
hungry. The LORD sets the prisoners free,
To receive the instruction of wisdom,
justice, and judgment, and
equity;
and for receiving instruction in wise living and in righteousness,
justice, and
equity.
He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints.

equity;
yea, every good path.
Then you will
discern righteousness and
justice and
equity—every good path.
The
curse of the LORD is in the house of the wicked: but he blesseth the
habitation of the
just.
The
curse of the LORD is on the house of the wicked, but He blesses the home of the righteous.
But the path of the
just is as the
shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.
By me kings reign, and princes decree justice.
By me kings reign, and rulers
enact just laws;
By me princes rule, and nobles, even all the judges of the earth.
By me princes rule, and all nobles who
govern justly.
I lead in the way of righteousness, in the midst of the paths of judgment:
I walk in the way of righteousness, along the paths of justice,
Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning.
Instruct a wise man, and he will be wiser still; teach a righteous man, and he will increase his learning.
Blessings are upon the head of the just: but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked.
Blessings are on the head of the righteous, but the mouth of the wicked conceals violence.
The memory of the
just is blessed: but the name of the wicked shall
rot.
The memory of the righteous is a blessing, but the name of the wicked will
rot.
The tongue of the just is as choice silver: the heart of the wicked is little worth.
The tongue of the righteous is choice silver, but the heart of the wicked has little worth.
The mouth of the
just bringeth forth wisdom: but the
froward tongue shall be cut out.
The mouth of the righteous brings forth wisdom, but a
perverse tongue will be cut out.

abomination to the LORD: but a
just weight is his delight.

sinner is laid up for the
just.

sinner’s wealth is passed to the righteous.

tillage of the poor: but there is that is destroyed for want of judgment.

A divine
verdict is on the lips of a king; his mouth must not
betray justice.
A
just weight and balance are the LORD’S: all the weights of the
bag are his work.
Honest scales and balances are from the LORD; all the weights in the
bag are His
concern.
He that
justifieth the wicked, and he that condemneth the
just, even they both are
abomination to the LORD.
A wicked man taketh a gift out of the
bosom to
pervert the ways of judgment.
Also to
punish the
just is not good, nor to strike princes for
equity.
It is not good to accept the person of the wicked, to overthrow the righteous in judgment.
Showing
partiality to the wicked is not good, nor is depriving the innocent of
justice.
He that is first in his own cause seemeth just; but his neighbour cometh and searcheth him.
The first to state his case seems right until another comes and cross-examines him.
An ungodly witness scorneth judgment: and the mouth of the wicked devoureth iniquity.
A corrupt witness mocks
justice, and a wicked mouth
swallows iniquity.
The
just man walketh in his
integrity: his children are blessed after him.
The righteous man walks with
integrity; blessed are his children after him.

robbery of the wicked shall destroy them; because they refuse to do judgment.
The violence of the wicked will
sweep them away because they refuse to do what is
just.
It is joy to the just to do judgment: but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity.
Justice executed is a joy to the righteous, but a terror to the workers of iniquity.

therewith, and
vomit it.

vomit it up.

And I saw that wisdom exceeds folly, just as light exceeds darkness:
For there is no
remembrance of the wise more than of the
fool for ever; seeing that which now is in the days to come shall all be forgotten. And how dieth the wise man? as the
fool.
For there is no lasting
remembrance of the wise,
just as with the
fool, seeing that both will be forgotten in the days to come.
Alas, the wise man will die
just like the
fool!
If thou seest the oppression of the poor, and violent
perverting of judgment and
justice in a province,
marvel not at the matter: for he that is higher than the highest regardeth; and there be higher than they.
If you see the oppression of the poor and the
denial of
justice and righteousness in the province, do not be
astonished at the matter; for one official is watched by a superior, and others higher still are over them.
All things have I seen in the days of my vanity: there is a just man that perisheth in his righteousness, and there is a wicked man that prolongeth his life in his wickedness.
In my
futile life I have seen both of these: A righteous man perishing in his righteousness, and a wicked man living long in his wickedness.
For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not.
Surely there is no righteous man on earth who does good and never sins.
There is a vanity which is done upon the earth; that there be just men, unto whom it happeneth according to the work of the wicked; again, there be wicked men, to whom it happeneth according to the work of the righteous: I said that this also is vanity.
There is a
futility that is done on the earth: There are righteous men who get what the actions of the wicked deserve, and there are wicked men who get what the actions of the righteous deserve. I say that this too is
futile.
It was but a little that I passed from them, but I found him whom my soul loveth: I held him, and would not let him go, until I had brought him into my mother’s house, and into the chamber of her that conceived me.
I had just passed them when I found the one I love. I held him and would not let go until I had brought him to my mother’s house, to the chamber of the one who conceived me.

justice and correct the
oppressor. Defend the fatherless and
plead the case of the widow.”

harlot! it was full of judgment; righteousness
lodged in it; but now murderers.
See how the faithful city has become a
harlot! She once was full of
justice; righteousness resided within her, but now only murderers!
Zion shall be redeemed with judgment, and her converts with righteousness.
Zion will be redeemed with
justice, her
repentant ones with righteousness.
And in that day seven women shall take hold of one man, saying, We will eat our own bread, and wear our own
apparel: only let us be called by thy name, to take away our reproach.
In that day seven women will take hold of one man and say, “We will eat our own bread and provide our own clothes. Just let us be called by your name. Take away our disgrace!”
For the
vineyard of the LORD of hosts is the house of Israel, and the men of Judah his pleasant plant: and he looked for judgment, but behold oppression; for righteousness, but behold a cry.
For the
vineyard of the LORD of Hosts is the house of Israel, and the men of Judah are the plant of His delight. He looked for
justice, but saw
bloodshed; for righteousness, but heard a cry of distress.
But the LORD of hosts shall be
exalted in judgment, and God that is holy shall be
sanctified in righteousness.
But the LORD of Hosts will be
exalted by His
justice, and the holy God will show Himself holy in righteousness.
Which
justify the wicked for reward, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him!
who
acquit the guilty for a
bribe and deprive the innocent of
justice.
Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.
Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end. He will reign on the throne of David and over his kingdom, to establish and
sustain it with
justice and righteousness from that time and forevermore. The zeal of the LORD of Hosts will
accomplish this.
To turn aside the
needy from judgment, and to take away the right from the poor of my people, that widows may be their prey, and that they may
rob the fatherless!
to deprive the poor of fair treatment and
withhold justice from the
oppressed of My people, to make widows their prey and orphans their
plunder.
For yet a very little while, and the
indignation shall cease, and mine anger in their destruction.
For in
just a little while My
fury against you will
subside, and My anger will turn to their destruction.”
And in mercy shall the throne be established: and he shall sit upon it in truth in the tabernacle of David, judging, and seeking judgment, and hasting righteousness.
in loving devotion a throne will be established in the tent of David. A judge seeking
justice and
hastening righteousness will sit on it in faithfulness.
And the LORD said, Like as my servant Isaiah hath walked naked and
barefoot three years for a sign and wonder upon Egypt and upon
Ethiopia;
Then the LORD said, “
Just as My servant Isaiah has gone naked and
barefoot for three years as a sign and
omen against Egypt and
Cush,
The way of the
just is uprightness: thou, most upright,
dost weigh the path of the
just.
The path of the righteous is level; You clear a straight path for the upright.
And for a spirit of judgment to him that sitteth in judgment, and for strength to them that turn the battle to the gate.
a spirit of
justice to him who sits in judgment, and a strength to those who
repel the
onslaught at the gate.
Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are
weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts.
Whom is He trying to teach? To whom is He explaining His message? To infants
just weaned from milk? To
babies removed from the breast?
Judgment also will I lay to the line, and righteousness to the
plummet: and the
hail shall
sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters shall overflow the hiding place.
I will make
justice the measuring line and righteousness the level.
Hail will
sweep away your refuge of lies, and water will flood your hiding place.
That make a man an
offender for a word, and lay a
snare for him that reproveth in the gate, and turn aside the
just for a thing of
nought.
those who
indict a man with a word, who
ensnare the
mediator at the gate, and who with false charges deprive the innocent of
justice.
And therefore will the LORD wait, that he may be
gracious unto you, and therefore will he be
exalted, that he may have mercy upon you: for the LORD is a God of judgment: blessed are all they that wait for him.
Therefore the LORD longs to be
gracious to you; therefore He rises to show you
compassion, for the LORD is a
just God. Blessed are all who wait for Him.
Behold, a king shall reign in righteousness, and princes shall rule in judgment.
Behold, a king will reign in righteousness, and princes will rule with justice.
The instruments also of the
churl are evil: he deviseth wicked devices to destroy the poor with lying words, even when the
needy speaketh right.
The weapons of the
scoundrel are destructive; he hatches plots to destroy the poor with lies, even when the
plea of the
needy is
just.
Then judgment shall dwell in the wilderness, and righteousness remain in the fruitful field.
Then justice will inhabit the wilderness, and righteousness will dwell in the fertile field.
The LORD is
exalted; for he dwelleth on high: he hath filled
Zion with judgment and righteousness.
The LORD is
exalted, for He dwells on high; He has filled
Zion with
justice and righteousness.
With whom took he counsel, and who
instructed him, and taught him in the path of judgment, and taught him knowledge, and shewed to him the way of understanding?
Whom did He
consult to
enlighten Him, and who taught Him the paths of
justice? Who imparted knowledge to Him and showed Him the way of understanding?
Behold my servant, whom I
uphold; mine
elect, in whom my soul delighteth; I have put my spirit upon him: he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles.
“Here is My Servant, whom I
uphold, My Chosen One, in whom My soul delights. I will put My Spirit on Him, and He will bring
justice to the nations.
A
bruised reed shall he not break, and the smoking flax shall he not
quench: he shall bring forth judgment unto truth.
He shall not fail nor be discouraged, till he have set judgment in the earth: and the isles shall wait for his law.
He will not grow weak or discouraged before He has established justice on the earth. In His law the islands will put their hope.”
Let all the nations be gathered together, and let the people be assembled: who among them can declare this, and
shew us former things? let them bring forth their witnesses, that they may be
justified: or let them hear, and say, It is truth.
All the nations gather together and the peoples
assemble. Who among them can declare this, and
proclaim to us the former things? Let them present their witnesses to
vindicate them, so that others may hear and say, “It is true.”
Put me in
remembrance: let us
plead together: declare thou, that thou mayest be
justified.
Remind Me, let us
argue the matter together. State your case, so that you may be
vindicated.
Tell ye, and bring them near;
yea, let them take counsel together: who hath declared this from ancient time? who hath told it from that time? have not I the LORD? and there is no God else beside me; a
just God and a Saviour; there is none beside me.
Speak up and present your case—
yes, let them take counsel together. Who
foretold this long ago? Who
announced it from ancient times? Was it not I, the LORD? There is no other God but Me, a righteous God and
Savior; there is none but Me.
In the LORD shall all the seed of Israel be justified, and shall glory.
In the LORD all descendants of Israel will be
justified and will
exult.
He is near that
justifieth me; who will
contend with me? let us stand together: who is mine
adversary? let him come near to me.
The One who vindicates Me is near. Who will
dare to
contend with Me? Let us
confront each other! Who has a case against Me? Let him approach Me!
Hearken unto me, my people; and give ear unto me, O my nation: for a law shall proceed from me, and I will make my judgment to rest for a light of the people.
Pay attention to Me, My people, and
listen to Me, My nation; for a law will go out from Me, and My
justice will become a light to the nations; I will bring it about quickly.
My righteousness is near; my salvation is gone forth, and mine arms shall judge the people; the isles shall wait upon me, and on mine arm shall they trust.
My righteousness draws near, My salvation is on the way, and My arms will bring justice to the nations. The islands will look for Me and wait in hope for My arm.
As many were
astonied at thee; his
visage was so
marred more than any man, and his form more than the sons of men:
Just as many were
appalled at Him— His appearance was disfigured beyond that of any man, and His form was
marred beyond human likeness—
He shall see of the
travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant
justify many; for he shall bear their
iniquities.
After the
anguish of His soul, He will see the light of life and be satisfied. By His knowledge My righteous Servant will
justify many, and He will bear their
iniquities.
For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and
bud, that it may give seed to the
sower, and bread to the eater:
For
just as rain and snow fall from heaven and do not return without watering the earth, making it
bud and
sprout, and providing seed to
sow and food to eat,
Thus saith the LORD, Keep ye judgment, and do justice: for my salvation is near to come, and my righteousness to be revealed.
This is what the LORD says: “Maintain justice and do what is right, for My salvation is coming soon, and My righteousness will be revealed.
Yet they seek me daily, and delight to know my ways, as a nation that did righteousness, and
forsook not the
ordinance of their God: they ask of me the ordinances of
justice; they take delight in approaching to God.
For day after day they seek Me and delight to know My ways, like a nation that does what is right and does not
forsake the
justice of their God. They ask Me for righteous judgments; they delight in the nearness of God.”
None calleth for justice, nor any pleadeth for truth: they trust in vanity, and speak lies; they conceive mischief, and bring forth iniquity.
No one calls for
justice; no one pleads his case
honestly. They
rely on empty pleas; they tell lies; they conceive mischief and give birth to iniquity.
The way of peace they know not; and there is no judgment in their goings: they have made them
crooked paths:
whosoever goeth therein shall not know peace.
The way of peace they have not known, and there is no
justice in their tracks. They have turned them into
crooked paths; no one who treads on them will know peace.
Therefore is judgment far from us, neither
doth justice overtake us: we wait for light, but behold obscurity; for brightness, but we walk in darkness.
Therefore
justice is far from us, and righteousness does not reach us. We hope for light, but there is darkness; for brightness, but we walk in
gloom.
We
roar all like bears, and
mourn sore like doves: we look for judgment, but there is none; for salvation, but it is far off from us.
We all
growl like bears and
moan like doves. We hope for
justice, but find none, for salvation, but it is far from us.
And judgment is turned away backward, and
justice standeth
afar off: for truth is fallen in the street, and
equity cannot enter.
So
justice is turned away, and righteousness stands at a distance. For truth has
stumbled in the public square, and
honesty cannot enter.
Yea, truth faileth; and he that departeth from evil maketh himself a prey: and the LORD saw it, and it displeased him that there was no judgment.
Truth is missing, and
whoever turns from evil becomes prey. The LORD looked and was displeased that there was no
justice.
For I the LORD love judgment, I
hate robbery for burnt offering; and I will direct their work in truth, and I will make an
everlasting covenant with them.
And they shall bring all your brethren for an offering unto the LORD out of all nations upon horses, and in
chariots, and in litters, and upon mules, and upon swift beasts, to my holy mountain Jerusalem, saith the LORD, as the children of Israel bring an offering in a clean vessel into the house of the LORD.
And they will bring all your brothers from all the nations as a gift to the LORD on horses and
chariots and wagons, on mules and camels, to My holy mountain Jerusalem,” says the LORD, “
just as the Israelites bring an offering in a clean vessel to the house of the LORD.”
For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the LORD, so shall your seed and your name remain.
“For
just as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, will
endure before Me,” declares the LORD, “so your descendants and your name will
endure.
Why gaddest thou about so much to change thy way? thou also shalt be
ashamed of Egypt, as thou
wast ashamed of Assyria.
How unstable you are, constantly changing your ways! You will be disappointed by Egypt just as you were by Assyria.
Wilt thou not from this time cry unto me, My father, thou art the guide of my youth?
Have you not just called to Me, ‘My Father, You are my friend from youth.
And the LORD said to me, “Faithless Israel has shown herself more righteous than unfaithful Judah.
And thou shalt
swear, The LORD liveth, in truth, in judgment, and in righteousness; and the nations shall
bless themselves in him, and in him shall they glory.
and if you can
swear, ‘As surely as the LORD lives,’ in truth, in
justice, and in righteousness, then the nations will be blessed by Him, and in Him they will glory.”
Run ye to and
fro through the streets of Jerusalem, and see now, and know, and seek in the broad places thereof, if ye can find a man, if there be any that executeth judgment, that seeketh the truth; and I will
pardon it.
“Go up and down the streets of Jerusalem. Look now and take note; search her squares. If you can find a single person,
anyone who acts
justly,
anyone who seeks the truth, then I will
forgive the city.
