So then, he who marries the virgin does well, but he who does not marry her does even better.
The wife is bound by the law as long as her husband liveth; but if her husband be dead, she is at liberty to be married to whom she will; only in the Lord.
A wife is bound to her husband as long as he lives. But if her husband dies, she is free to
marry anyone she wishes, as long as he belongs to the Lord.
Eat anything sold in the meat market without raising questions of conscience,
If
anyone does not love the Lord, let him be under a
curse. Come, O Lord!
And no
marvel; for
Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
And no wonder, for
Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.
Truly the signs of an apostle were wrought among you in all
patience, in signs, and wonders, and mighty deeds.
The true
marks of an apostle—signs, wonders, and miracles—were performed among you with great
perseverance.
I
marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:
I am
amazed how quickly you are deserting the One who called you by the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel—
From henceforth let no man trouble me: for I bear in my body the marks of the Lord Jesus.
From now on let no one cause me trouble, for I bear on my body the marks of Jesus.
I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
I press on toward the
goal to
win the prize of God’s heavenly calling in Christ Jesus.
Brethren, be followers together of me, and
mark them which walk so as ye have us for an
ensample.
Join one another in following my example, brothers, and carefully observe those who walk according to the pattern we set for you.
Aristarchus my fellowprisoner saluteth you, and
Marcus, sister’s son to
Barnabas, (touching whom ye received commandments: if he come unto you, receive him;)
My fellow prisoner
Aristarchus sends you greetings, as does
Mark the cousin of
Barnabas. You have already received instructions about him: If he comes to you,
welcome him.
The
salutation of Paul with mine own hand, which is the
token in every epistle: so I write.
This
greeting is in my own hand—Paul. This is my
mark in every letter; it is the way I write.
Forbidding to
marry, and commanding to
abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with
thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.
They will
prohibit marriage and require
abstinence from certain foods that God has created to be received with
thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth.
But the younger widows refuse: for when they have begun to wax
wanton against Christ, they will
marry;
But refuse to
enroll younger widows. For when their passions draw them away from Christ, they will want to
marry,
I will therefore that the younger women
marry, bear children, guide the house, give none occasion to the
adversary to speak
reproachfully.
Only Luke is with me. Take Mark, and bring him with thee: for he is profitable to me for the ministry.
Only Luke is with me. Get Mark and bring him with you, because he is useful to me in the ministry.
as do
Mark,
Aristarchus, Demas, and Luke, my fellow workers.
For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any
twoedged sword,
piercing even to the dividing
asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and
marrow, and is a
discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it pierces even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and
marrow. It judges the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

Jericho fell down, after they were compassed about seven days.
By faith the walls of
Jericho fell, after the people had
marched around them for seven days.
Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed
undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.
Marriage should be honored by all and the
marriage bed kept
undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers.
But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should
shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his
marvellous light:
But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, to
proclaim the virtues of Him who called you out of darkness into His
marvelous light.
The church that is at Babylon, elected together with you, saluteth you; and so
doth Marcus my son.
The church in Babylon, chosen together with you, sends you greetings, as does my son Mark.
So do not be surprised, brothers, if the world hates you.
I know thy works, and where thou dwellest, even where
Satan’s seat is: and thou holdest fast my name, and hast not denied my faith, even in those days wherein
Antipas was my faithful
martyr, who was slain among you, where
Satan dwelleth.
I know where you live, where the throne of
Satan sits. Yet you have held fast to My name and have not denied your faith in Me, even in the day when My faithful witness
Antipas was killed among you, where
Satan dwells.
And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was
healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.
One of the heads of the beast appeared to be
mortally wounded. But the
mortal wound was
healed, and the whole world
marveled and followed the beast.
And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:
And the second beast required all people small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a
mark on their right hand or on their
forehead,
And that no man might
buy or sell, save he that had the
mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
so that no one could
buy or sell unless he had the
mark—the name of the beast or the number of its name.
And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his
mark in his
forehead, or in his hand,
And a third angel followed them, calling out in a loud voice, “If
anyone worships the beast and its image, and receives its
mark on his
forehead or on his hand,
And the smoke of their
torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and
whosoever receiveth the
mark of his name.
And the smoke of their
torment rises
forever and ever. Day and night there is no rest for those who worship the beast and its image, or for
anyone who receives the
mark of its name.”
And I saw another sign in heaven, great and marvellous, seven angels having the seven last plagues; for in them is filled up the wrath of God.
Then I saw another great and
marvelous sign in heaven: seven angels with the seven final plagues, with which the wrath of God is completed.
And I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fire: and them that had
gotten the victory over the beast, and over his image, and over his
mark, and over the number of his name, stand on the sea of glass, having the harps of God.
And I saw something like a sea of glass mixed with fire, beside which stood those who had conquered the beast and its image and the number of its name. They were holding harps from God,
And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and
marvellous are thy works, Lord God
Almighty; just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints.
and they
sang the song of God’s servant Moses and of the Lamb: “Great and wonderful are Your works, O Lord God
Almighty! Just and true are Your ways, O King of the nations!
And the first went, and poured out his
vial upon the earth; and there fell a
noisome and
grievous sore upon the men which had the
mark of the beast, and upon them which worshipped his image.
So the first angel went and poured out his
bowl on the earth, and
loathsome,
malignant sores broke out on those who had the
mark of the beast and worshiped its image.
And I saw the woman
drunken with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the
martyrs of Jesus: and when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration.
I could see that the woman was
drunk with the blood of the saints and witnesses for Jesus. And I was utterly
amazed at the sight of her.
And the angel said unto me, Wherefore
didst thou
marvel? I will tell thee the
mystery of the woman, and of the beast that carrieth her, which hath the seven heads and ten horns.
“Why are you so
amazed?” said the angel. “I will tell you the
mystery of the woman and of the beast that carries her, which has the seven heads and ten horns.
The beast that thou sawest was, and is not; and shall
ascend out of the bottomless pit, and go into
perdition: and they that dwell on the earth shall wonder, whose names were not written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, when they behold the beast that was, and is not, and yet is.
The beast that you saw—it was, and now is no more, but is about to come up out of the
Abyss and go to its destruction. And those who dwell on the earth whose names were not written in the Book of Life from the foundation of the world will
marvel when they see the beast that was, and is not, and yet will be.
The
merchandise of gold, and silver, and precious stones, and of pearls, and fine linen, and purple, and silk, and scarlet, and all thyine wood, and all manner vessels of ivory, and all manner vessels of most precious wood, and of brass, and iron, and
marble,
cargo of gold, silver, precious stones, and pearls; of fine linen, purple, silk, and scarlet; of all kinds of
citron wood and every article of ivory, precious wood, bronze, iron, and
marble;
Let us be
glad and
rejoice, and give honour to him: for the
marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.
Let us
rejoice and be
glad and give Him the glory. For the
marriage of the Lamb has come, and His
bride has made herself ready.
And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the
marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God.
Then the angel told me to write, “Blessed are those who are invited to the
marriage supper of the Lamb.” And he said to me, “These are the true words of God.”
And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he
deceived them that had received the
mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with
brimstone.
But the beast was captured along with the false prophet, who on its behalf had performed signs
deceiving those who had the
mark of the beast and worshiped its image. Both the beast and the false prophet were thrown alive into the
fiery lake of burning sulfur.
And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were
beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his
mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
Then I saw the thrones, and those seated on them had been given authority to judge. And I saw the souls of those who had been
beheaded for their testimony of Jesus and for the word of God, and those who had not worshiped the beast or its image, and had not received its
mark on their foreheads or hands. And they came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years.
And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and
devoured them.
And they
marched across the broad
expanse of the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city. But fire came down from heaven and consumed them.
Be it now known to the lord king, that the Jews that are up from you to us, being come into Jerusalem, that
rebellious and wicked city, do build the
marketplaces, and repair the walls of it and do lay the foundation of the temple.
And they returned unto Jerusalem, and to the other parts of
Jewry, every man to his own city, who came with Zorobabel, with Jesus, Nehemias, and
Zacharias, and Reesaias, Enenius,
Mardocheus. Beelsarus, Aspharasus, Reelius, Roimus, and Baana, their guides.
And of the priests that
usurped the office of the priesthood, and were not found: the sons of Obdia, the sons of Accoz, the sons of Addus, who
married Augia one of the daughters of Barzelus, and was named after his name.
Insomuch that the
trumpets might not be heard for the
weeping of the people: yet the multitude sounded
marvellously, so that it was heard
afar off.
And when we had been there three days, the gold and silver that was
weighed was delivered in the house of our Lord on the fourth day unto
Marmoth the priest the son of Iri.
For both they and their sons have married with their daughters, and the holy seed is mixed with the strange people of the land; and from the beginning of this matter the rulers and the great men have been partakers of this iniquity.
Then Jechonias the son of Jeelus, one of the sons of Israel, called out, and said, O
Esdras, we have
sinned against the Lord God, we have
married strange women of the nations of the land, and now is all Israel
aloft.
So
Esdras arose up, and said unto them, Ye have
transgressed the law in
marrying strange wives, thereby to increase the sins of Israel.
The son of Achias, the son of Phinees, the son of Heli, the son of Amarias, the son of Aziei, the son of
Marimoth, the son of
Arna, the son of Ozias, the son of Borith, the son of Abisei, the son of Phinees, the son of
Eleazar,
And in the midst of them there was a young man of a high
stature, taller than all the rest, and upon every one of their heads he set crowns, and was more
exalted; which I
marvelled at greatly.
Then answered he me, and said, The more thou searchest, the more thou shalt
marvel; for the world hasteth fast to pass away,
In this also thou art marvellous before the most High:
And thou spakest saying, Hear me, O Israel; and mark my words, thou seed of Jacob.
But whereas she said unto thee, That my son coming into his marriage chamber happened to have a fail, and died: this was the destruction that came to Jerusalem.
Thy children shall they carry away
captive, and, look, what thou hast, they shall
spoil it, and
mar the beauty of thy face.
They that marry, as they that shall get no children; and they that marry not, as the widowers.
Furthermore, when I was come to the age of a man, I
married Anna of mine own kindred, and of her I
begat Tobias.
But he came again, and said, Father, one of our nation is
strangled, and is cast out in the
marketplace.
Because that she had been
married to seven husbands, whom
Asmodeus the evil spirit had killed, before they had
lain with her.
Dost thou not know, said they, that thou hast
strangled thine husbands? thou hast had already seven husbands, neither
wast thou named after any of them.
Beware of all
whoredom, my son, and chiefly take a wife of the seed of thy fathers, and take not a strange woman to wife, which is not of thy father’s tribe: for we are the children of the prophets, Noe, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob: remember, my son, that our fathers from the beginning, even that they all
married wives of their own kindred, and were blessed in their children, and their seed shall
inherit the land.
And the
maid is fair and wise: now therefore hear me, and I will speak to her father; and when we return from Rages we will
celebrate the
marriage: for I know that Raguel cannot
marry her to another according to the law of Moses, but he shall be guilty of death, because the right of inheritance
doth rather
appertain to thee than to any other.
Then the young man answered the angel, I have heard, brother Azarias that this
maid hath been given to seven men, who all died in the
marriage chamber.
Then the angel said unto him,
Dost thou not remember the precepts which thy father gave thee, that thou shouldest
marry a wife of thine own kindred? wherefore hear me, O my brother; for she shall be given thee to wife; and make thou no
reckoning of the evil spirit; for this same night shall she be given thee in
marriage.
And when thou shalt come into the
marriage chamber, thou shalt take the ashes of
perfume, and shalt lay upon them some of the heart and liver of the fish, and shalt make a smoke with it:
For it is meet that thou shouldest marry my daughter: nevertheless I will declare unto thee the truth.
I have given my daughter in
marriage to seven men, who died that night they came in unto her: nevertheless for the present be
merry. But Tobias said, I will eat nothing here, till we agree and
swear one to another.
For before the days of the
marriage were finished, Raguel had said unto him by an oath, that he should not depart till the fourteen days of the
marriage were
expired;
Then
Tobit went out to meet his daughter in law at the gate of Nineve,
rejoicing and praising God: and they which saw him go
marvelled, because he had received his sight.
Then he
marched in battle
array with his power against king Arphaxad in the
seventeenth year, and he prevailed in his battle: for he overthrew all the power of Arphaxad, and all his
horsemen, and all his
chariots,
And when
Judith was come before him and his servants they all
marvelled at the beauty of her countenance; and she fell down upon her face, and did reverence unto him: and his servants took her up.
Then her words pleased Holofernes and all his servants; and they
marvelled at her wisdom, and said,
Then Mardocheus said, God hath done these things.
A little fountain became a river, and there was light, and the sun, and much water: this river is
Esther, whom the king
married, and made queen:
In the second year of the reign of Artexerxes the great, in the first day of the month
Nisan,
Mardocheus the son of Jairus, the son of Semei, the son of Cisai, of the tribe of Benjamin, had a dream;
Now when
Mardocheus, who had seen this dream, and what God had determined to do, was
awake, he bare this dream in mind, and until night by all means was
desirous to know it.
And Mardocheus took his rest in the court with Gabatha and Tharra, the two eunuchs of the king, and keepers of the palace.
And the king made a record of these things, and Mardocheus also wrote thereof.
So the king commanded, Mardocheus to serve in the court, and for this he rewarded him.
Howbeit Aman the son of Amadathus the Agagite, who was in great honour with the king, sought to
molest Mardocheus and his people because of the two eunuchs of the king.
Then Mardocheus thought upon all the works of the Lord, and made his prayer unto him,
Having by
manifold and
cunning deceits sought of us the destruction, as well of
Mardocheus, who saved our life, and continually procured our good, as also of
blameless Esther,
partaker of our kingdom, with their whole nation.
Or like as when an
arrow is shot at a
mark, it parteth the air, which immediately cometh together again, so that a man cannot know where it went through:
Then shall the right aiming thunderbolts go abroad; and from the clouds, as from a well drawn bow, shall they fly to the mark.
Rendered to the righteous a reward of their labours, guided them in a marvellous way, and was unto them for a cover by day, and a light of stars in the night season;
Disquieting of good men,
forgetfulness of good turns,
defiling of souls, changing of kind, disorder in
marriages,
adultery, and shameless uncleanness.
But they counted our life a
pastime, and our time here a
market for gain: for, say they, we must be getting every way, though it be by evil means.
Wherethrough all the people went that were defended with thy hand, seeing thy
marvellous strange wonders.
Marry thy daughter, and so shalt thou have performed a
weighty matter: but give her to a man of understanding.
Marvel not at the works of sinners; but trust in the Lord, and
abide in thy labour: for it is an easy thing in the sight of the Lord on the sudden to make a poor man rich.
And as a mother shall she meet him, and receive him as a wife married of a virgin.
And if there be one stiffnecked among the people, it is
marvel if he escape unpunished: for mercy and wrath are with him; he is mighty to
forgive, and to pour out displeasure.
by son,
hearken unto me, and learn knowledge, and
mark my words with thy heart.
He gave them to glory in his marvellous acts for ever, that they might declare his works with understanding.
For as a servant that is continually beaten shall not be without a blue mark: so he that sweareth and nameth God continually shall not be faultless.
An
harlot shall be accounted as
spittle; but a
married woman is a tower against death to her husband.
The stroke of the
whip maketh
marks in the flesh: but the stroke of the tongue breaketh the bones.
