Berean Standard Bible BSB Bible
The
mighty man, and the man of war, the judge, and the prophet, and the
prudent, and the ancient,
the
mighty man and the
warrior, the judge and the prophet, the
soothsayer and the elder,
Thy men shall fall by the sword, and thy mighty in the war.
Your men will fall by the sword, and your warriors in battle.
And the mean man shall be brought down, and the mighty man shall be humbled, and the eyes of the lofty shall be humbled:
So mankind will be brought low, and each man humbled; the
arrogant will lower their eyes.
Woe unto them that are
mighty to drink wine, and men of strength to
mingle strong drink:
Woe to those who are heroes in drinking wine and champions in
mixing strong drink,
Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and convert, and be
healed.
Make the hearts of this people calloused;
deafen their ears and close their eyes. Otherwise they
might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts, and turn and be
healed.”
Now therefore, behold, the Lord bringeth up upon them the waters of the river, strong and many, even the king of Assyria, and all his glory: and he shall come up over all his channels, and go over all his banks:
the Lord will surely bring against them the
mighty floodwaters of the Euphrates— the king of Assyria and all his
pomp. It will overflow its channels and overrun its banks.
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The
mighty God, The
everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given, and the government will be upon His shoulders. And He will be called Wonderful
Counselor,
Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
For he saith, By the strength of my hand I have done it, and by my wisdom; for I am
prudent: and I have removed the bounds of the people, and have
robbed their treasures, and I have put down the inhabitants like a
valiant man:
For he says: ‘By the strength of my hand I have done this, and by my wisdom, for I am
clever. I have removed the boundaries of nations and
plundered their treasures; like a
mighty one I subdued their rulers.
The
remnant shall return, even the
remnant of Jacob, unto the
mighty God.
And he shall cut down the thickets of the forest with iron, and
Lebanon shall fall by a
mighty one.
He will clear the forest thickets with an
axe, and
Lebanon will fall before the
Mighty One.
And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD;
The Spirit of the LORD will rest on Him— the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and strength, the Spirit of knowledge and fear of the LORD.
And the LORD shall utterly destroy the tongue of the Egyptian sea; and with his
mighty wind shall he
shake his hand over the river, and shall
smite it in the seven streams, and make men go over
dryshod.
The LORD will
devote to destruction the gulf of the Sea of Egypt; with a
scorching wind He will
sweep His hand over the Euphrates. He will split it into seven streams for men to cross with dry
sandals.
I have commanded my
sanctified ones, I have also called my
mighty ones for mine anger, even them that
rejoice in my highness.
I have commanded My
sanctified ones; I have even summoned My warriors to
execute My wrath and
exult in My triumph.
Woe to the multitude of many people, which make a noise like the noise of the seas; and to the
rushing of nations, that make a
rushing like the
rushing of
mighty waters!
And the residue of the number of archers, the
mighty men of the children of
Kedar, shall be diminished: for the LORD God of Israel hath spoken it.
The remaining archers, the warriors of
Kedar, will be few.” For the LORD, the God of Israel, has spoken.
Behold, the LORD will carry thee away with a mighty captivity, and will surely cover thee.
Look, O
mighty man! The LORD is about to
shake you violently. He will take hold of you,
Behold, the Lord hath a
mighty and strong one, which as a
tempest of
hail and a destroying storm, as a flood of
mighty waters overflowing, shall cast down to the earth with the hand.
Behold, the Lord has one who is strong and
mighty. Like a
hailstorm or destructive
tempest, like a driving rain or flooding
downpour, he will
smash that crown to the ground.
But the word of the LORD was unto them
precept upon
precept,
precept upon
precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they
might go, and fall backward, and be broken, and
snared, and taken.
Then the word of the LORD to them will become: “Order on order, order on order, line on line, line on line; a little here, a little there,” so that they will go
stumbling backward and will be injured, ensnared, and captured.
Ye shall have a song, as in the night when a holy
solemnity is kept; and
gladness of heart, as when one goeth with a pipe to come into the mountain of the LORD, to the
mighty One of Israel.
You will sing as on the night of a holy festival, and your heart will
rejoice like one who walks to the music of a
flute, going up to the mountain of the LORD, to the Rock of Israel.
And the LORD shall cause his glorious voice to be heard, and shall
shew the lighting down of his arm, with the
indignation of his anger, and with the flame of a
devouring fire, with
scattering, and
tempest, and hailstones.
And the LORD will cause His
majestic voice to be heard and His
mighty arm to be revealed, striking in
angry wrath with a flame of
consuming fire, and with cloudburst, storm, and hailstones.
Then shall the Assyrian fall with the sword, not of a
mighty man; and the sword, not of a mean man, shall
devour him: but he shall
flee from the sword, and his young men shall be
discomfited.
“Then Assyria will fall, but not by the sword of man; a sword will
devour them, but not one made by mortals. They will
flee before the sword, and their young men will be put to forced labor.
Hear, ye that are far off, what I have done; and, ye that are near, acknowledge my might.
You who are far off, hear what I have done; you who are near, acknowledge My might.”
Behold, the Lord GOD will come with strong hand, and his arm shall rule for him: behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him.
Behold, the Lord GOD comes with
might, and His arm establishes His rule. His reward is with Him, and His
recompense accompanies Him.
Lift up your eyes on high, and behold who hath created these things, that bringeth out their host by number: he calleth them all by names by the greatness of his might, for that he is strong in power; not one faileth.
Lift up your eyes on high: Who created all these? He leads forth the
starry host by number; He calls each one by name. Because of His great power and
mighty strength, not one of them is missing.
He giveth power to the
faint; and to them that have no
might he increaseth strength.
He gives power to the
faint and increases the strength of the weak.
The LORD shall go forth as a
mighty man, he shall
stir up jealousy like a man of war: he shall cry,
yea,
roar; he shall prevail against his enemies.
The LORD goes forth like a
mighty one; He stirs up His zeal like a
warrior. He shouts;
yes, He roars in triumph over His enemies:
Thus saith the LORD, which maketh a way in the sea, and a path in the mighty waters;
Thus says the LORD, who makes a way in the sea and a path through the
surging waters,
And now, saith the LORD that formed me from the
womb to be his servant, to bring Jacob again to him, Though Israel be not gathered, yet shall I be glorious in the eyes of the LORD, and my God shall be my strength.
And now says the LORD, who formed Me from the
womb to be His Servant, to bring Jacob back to Him, that Israel
might be gathered to Him— for I am honored in the sight of the LORD, and My God is My strength—
Shall the prey be taken from the
mighty, or the lawful
captive delivered?
But thus saith the LORD, Even the
captives of the
mighty shall be taken away, and the prey of the terrible shall be delivered: for I will
contend with him that contendeth with thee, and I will save thy children.
And I will feed them that
oppress thee with their own flesh; and they shall be
drunken with their own blood, as with sweet wine: and all flesh shall know that I the LORD am thy Saviour and thy
Redeemer, the
mighty One of Jacob.
I will make your oppressors eat their own flesh; they will be
drunk on their own blood, as with wine. Then all mankind will know that I, the LORD, am your
Savior and your
Redeemer, the
Mighty One of Jacob.”
Thou shalt also
suck the milk of the Gentiles, and shalt
suck the breast of kings: and thou shalt know that I the LORD am thy Saviour and thy
Redeemer, the
mighty One of Jacob.
You will drink the milk of nations and
nurse at the breasts of
royalty; you will know that I, the LORD, am your
Savior and your
Redeemer, the
Mighty One of Jacob.
A little one shall become a thousand, and a small one a strong nation: I the LORD will
hasten it in his time.
The least of you will become a thousand, and the smallest a
mighty nation. I am the LORD; in its time I will
accomplish it quickly.
To
appoint unto them that
mourn in
Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for
mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of
heaviness; that they
might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that he
might be
glorified.
to
console the mourners in
Zion— to give them a crown of beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for
mourning, and a garment of praise for a spirit of
despair. So they will be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the LORD, that He may be
glorified.
The LORD hath
sworn by his right hand, and by the arm of his strength, Surely I will no more give thy corn to be meat for thine enemies; and the sons of the stranger shall not drink thy wine, for the which thou hast laboured:
The LORD has
sworn by His right hand and by His
mighty arm: “Never again will I give your grain to your enemies for food, nor will foreigners drink the new wine for which you have
toiled.
Who is this that cometh from
Edom, with
dyed garments from
Bozrah? this that is glorious in his
apparel, travelling in the greatness of his strength? I that speak in righteousness,
mighty to save.
Look down from heaven, and behold from the
habitation of thy
holiness and of thy glory: where is thy zeal and thy strength, the sounding of thy
bowels and of thy
mercies toward me? are they restrained?
Look down from heaven and see, from Your holy and glorious
habitation. Where are Your zeal and
might? Your
yearning and
compassion for me are restrained.
Oh that thou wouldest
rend the heavens, that thou wouldest come down, that the mountains
might flow down at thy presence,
If only You would
rend the heavens and come down, so that mountains would
quake at Your presence,
Lo, I will bring a nation upon you from far, O house of Israel, saith the LORD: it is a mighty nation, it is an ancient nation, a nation whose language thou knowest not, neither understandest what they say.
Behold, I am bringing a distant nation against you, O house of Israel,” declares the LORD. “It is an established nation, an ancient nation, a nation whose language you do not know and whose speech you do not understand.
Their quivers are like open graves; they are all mighty men.
They are
waxen fat, they
shine:
yea, they overpass the deeds of the wicked: they judge not the cause, the cause of the fatherless, yet they
prosper; and the right of the
needy do they not judge.
They have grown fat and
sleek, and have
excelled in the deeds of the wicked. They have not taken up the cause of the fatherless, that they
might prosper; nor have they defended the rights of the
needy.
The
snorting of his horses was heard from
Dan: the whole land
trembled at the sound of the
neighing of his strong ones; for they are come, and have
devoured the land, and all that is in it; the city, and those that dwell therein.
The
snorting of enemy horses is heard from
Dan. At the sound of the
neighing of
mighty steeds, the whole land quakes. They come to
devour the land and everything in it, the city and all who dwell in it.
Oh that my head were waters, and mine eyes a fountain of tears, that I
might weep day and night for the slain of the daughter of my people!
Oh, that my head were a spring of water, and my eyes a fountain of tears! I would
weep day and night over the slain daughter of my people.
Oh that I had in the wilderness a
lodging place of
wayfaring men; that I
might leave my people, and go from them! for they be all adulterers, an assembly of
treacherous men.
If only I had a traveler’s
lodge in the wilderness, I would
abandon my people and depart from them, for they are all adulterers, a crowd of faithless people.
Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches:
This is what the LORD says: “Let not the wise man
boast in his wisdom, nor the strong man in his strength, nor the wealthy man in his riches.
Forasmuch as there is none like unto thee, O LORD; thou art great, and thy name is great in
might.
There is none like You, O LORD. You are great, and Your name is mighty in power.
The LORD called thy name, A green olive tree, fair, and of goodly fruit: with the noise of a great
tumult he hath
kindled fire upon it, and the branches of it are broken.
The LORD once called you a flourishing olive tree, beautiful with well-formed fruit. But with a
mighty roar He will set it on fire, and its branches will be consumed.
For as the
girdle cleaveth to the loins of a man, so have I caused to
cleave unto me the whole house of Israel and the whole house of Judah, saith the LORD; that they
might be unto me for a people, and for a name, and for a praise, and for a glory: but they would not hear.
For just as a loincloth clings to a man’s
waist, so I have made the whole house of Israel and the whole house of Judah
cling to Me, declares the LORD, so that they
might be My people for My
renown and praise and glory. But they did not
listen.
Why shouldest thou be as a man
astonied, as a
mighty man that cannot save? yet thou, O LORD, art in the midst of us, and we are called by thy name; leave us not.
Why are You like a man taken by surprise, like a
warrior powerless to save? Yet You are among us, O LORD, and we are called by Your name. Do not
forsake us!
Therefore, behold, I will this once cause them to know, I will cause them to know mine hand and my might; and they shall know that my name is The LORD.
“Therefore behold, I will inform them, and this time I will make them know My power and My might; then they will know that My name is the LORD.
But they obeyed not, neither inclined their ear, but made their neck stiff, that they might not hear, nor receive instruction.
At what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to
pluck up, and to pull down, and to destroy it;
At any time I
might announce that a nation or kingdom will be uprooted,
torn down, and destroyed.
Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will bring upon this city and upon all her towns all the evil that I have pronounced against it, because they have
hardened their necks, that they
might not hear my words.
“This is what the LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, says: ‘Behold, I am about to bring on this city and on all the villages around it every
disaster I have pronounced against them, because they have
stiffened their necks so as not to
heed My words.’”
But the LORD is with me as a
mighty terrible one: therefore my persecutors shall
stumble, and they shall not prevail: they shall be greatly
ashamed; for they shall not
prosper: their
everlasting confusion shall never be forgotten.
But the LORD is with me like a
fearsome warrior. Therefore, my persecutors will
stumble and will not prevail. Since they have not succeeded, they will be utterly put to shame, with an
everlasting disgrace that will never be forgotten.
Because he
slew me not from the
womb; or that my mother
might have been my grave, and her
womb to be always great with me.
because he did not kill me in the
womb so that my mother
might have been my grave, and her
womb forever enlarged.
And I myself will fight against you with an outstretched hand and with a strong arm, even in anger, and in
fury, and in great wrath.
And I Myself will fight against you with an outstretched hand and a
mighty arm, with anger,
fury, and great wrath.
Yet ye have not
hearkened unto me, saith the LORD; that ye
might provoke me to anger with the works of your hands to your own
hurt.
‘But to your own
harm, you have not
listened to Me,’ declares the LORD, ‘so you have
provoked Me to anger with the works of your hands.’
Therefore
prophesy thou against them all these words, and say unto them, The LORD shall
roar from on high, and utter his voice from his holy
habitation; he shall
mightily roar upon his
habitation; he shall give a
shout, as they that
tread the grapes, against all the inhabitants of the earth.
So you are to
prophesy all these words against them and say to them: ‘The LORD will
roar from on high; He will raise His voice from His holy
habitation. He will
roar loudly over His pasture; like those who
tread the grapes, He will call out with a
shout against all the inhabitants of the earth.
Thus saith the LORD of hosts, Behold, evil shall go forth from nation to nation, and a great
whirlwind shall be raised up from the coasts of the earth.
This is what the LORD of Hosts says: “Behold!
Disaster is spreading from nation to nation; a
mighty storm is rising from the ends of the earth.”
Therefore now
amend your ways and your doings, and obey the voice of the LORD your God; and the LORD will
repent him of the evil that he hath pronounced against you.
So now, correct your ways and deeds, and obey the voice of the LORD your God, so that He
might relent of the
disaster He has pronounced against you.
Did
Hezekiah king of Judah and all Judah put him at all to death? did he not fear the LORD, and
besought the LORD, and the LORD
repented him of the evil which he had pronounced against them? Thus
might we
procure great evil against our souls.
Did
Hezekiah king of Judah or
anyone else in Judah put him to death? Did
Hezekiah not fear the LORD and seek His favor, and did not the LORD relent of the
disaster He had pronounced against them? But we are about to bring great
harm on ourselves!”
And when
Jehoiakim the king, with all his
mighty men, and all the princes, heard his words, the king sought to put him to death: but when Urijah heard it, he was afraid, and fled, and went into Egypt;
King
Jehoiakim and all his
mighty men and officials heard his words, and the king sought to put him to death. But when Uriah found out about it, he fled in fear and went to Egypt.
For I have not sent them, saith the LORD, yet they
prophesy a lie in my name; that I
might drive you out, and that ye
might perish, ye, and the prophets that
prophesy unto you.
For I have not sent them, declares the LORD, and yet they are
prophesying falsely in My name; therefore I will
banish you, and you will perish—you and the prophets who
prophesy to you.”
Thou shewest lovingkindness unto thousands, and recompensest the iniquity of the fathers into the
bosom of their children after them: the Great, the
Mighty God, the LORD of hosts, is his name,
You show loving devotion to thousands but lay the iniquity of the fathers into the laps of their children after them, O great and mighty God whose name is the LORD of Hosts,
Great in counsel, and mighty in work: for thine eyes are open upon all the ways of the sons of men: to give every one according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings:
the One great in counsel and mighty in deed, whose eyes are on all the ways of the sons of men, to reward each one according to his ways and according to the fruit of his deeds.
Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and
shew thee great and
mighty things, which thou knowest not.
Call to Me, and I will answer and show you great and unsearchable things you do not know.
Then took Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces that were with him, all the
remnant of the people whom he had recovered from
Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, from
Mizpah, after that he had slain Gedaliah the son of
Ahikam, even
mighty men of war, and the women, and the children, and the eunuchs, whom he had brought again from
Gibeon:
Then Johanan son of Kareah and all the commanders of the armies with him took the whole
remnant of the people from
Mizpah whom he had recovered from
Ishmael son of Nethaniah after
Ishmael had killed Gedaliah son of
Ahikam: the soldiers, women, children, and court officials he had brought back from
Gibeon.
But
Baruch the son of Neriah setteth thee on against us, for to deliver us into the hand of the Chaldeans, that they
might put us to death, and carry us away
captives into Babylon.
Rather,
Baruch son of Neriah is
inciting you against us to deliver us into the hands of the Chaldeans, so that they may put us to death or exile us to Babylon!”
In that ye
provoke me unto wrath with the works of your hands, burning incense unto other gods in the land of Egypt,
whither ye be gone to dwell, that ye
might cut
yourselves off, and that ye
might be a
curse and a reproach among all the nations of the earth?
Why are you
provoking Me to anger by the work of your hands by burning incense to other gods in the land of Egypt, where you have gone to reside? As a result, you will be cut off and will become an object of
cursing and reproach among all the nations of the earth.
Wherefore have I seen them dismayed and turned away back? and their
mighty ones are beaten down, and are fled
apace, and look not back: for fear was round about, saith the LORD.
Why am I seeing this? They are
terrified, they are retreating; their warriors are defeated, they
flee in
haste without looking back; terror is on every side!” declares the LORD.
Let not the swift
flee away, nor the
mighty man escape; they shall
stumble, and fall toward the north by the river Euphrates.
“The swift cannot
flee, and the
warrior cannot escape! In the north by the River Euphrates they
stumble and fall.
Come up, ye horses; and
rage, ye
chariots; and let the
mighty men come forth; the Ethiopians and the Libyans, that handle the shield; and the Lydians, that handle and bend the bow.
Advance, O horses! Race
furiously, O
chariots! Let the warriors come forth—
Cush and Put carrying their shields, men of
Lydia drawing the bow.
The nations have heard of thy shame, and thy cry hath filled the land: for the
mighty man hath
stumbled against the
mighty, and they are fallen both together.
The nations have heard of your shame, and your outcry fills the earth, because
warrior stumbles over
warrior and both of them have fallen together.”
How say ye, We are mighty and strong men for the war?
How can you say, ‘We are warriors, mighty men ready for battle’?
All ye that are about him,
bemoan him; and all ye that know his name, say, How is the strong staff broken, and the beautiful rod!
Kerioth is taken, and the strong holds are surprised, and the mighty men’s hearts in Moab at that day shall be as the heart of a woman in her pangs.
Kirioth has been taken, and the strongholds seized. In that day the heart of Moab’s warriors will be like the heart of a woman in labor.
Behold, he shall come up and fly as the eagle, and spread his wings over
Bozrah: and at that day shall the heart of the
mighty men of
Edom be as the heart of a woman in her pangs.
Look! An eagle will
soar and
swoop down, spreading its wings over
Bozrah. In that day the hearts of
Edom’s
mighty men will be like the heart of a woman in labor.
Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Behold, I will break the bow of
Elam, the chief of their
might.
This is what the LORD of Hosts says: “Behold, I will
shatter Elam’s bow, the
mainstay of their
might.
For, lo, I will raise and cause to come up against Babylon an assembly of great nations from the north country: and they shall set themselves in
array against her; from thence she shall be taken: their arrows shall be as of a
mighty expert man; none shall return in vain.
For behold, I
stir up and bring against Babylon an assembly of great nations from the land of the north. They will line up against her; from the north she will be captured. Their arrows will be like skilled warriors who do not return empty-handed.
A sword is upon the liars; and they shall
dote: a sword is upon her
mighty men; and they shall be dismayed.
A sword is against her false prophets, and they will become fools. A sword is against her warriors, and they will be filled with terror.
The mighty men of Babylon have forborn to fight, they have remained in their holds: their might hath failed; they became as women: they have burned her dwellingplaces; her bars are broken.
The warriors of Babylon have stopped fighting; they sit in their strongholds. Their strength is exhausted; they have become like women. Babylon’s homes have been set
ablaze, the bars of her gates are broken.
Because the LORD hath
spoiled Babylon, and destroyed out of her the great voice; when her waves do
roar like great waters, a noise of their voice is uttered:
For the LORD will destroy Babylon; He will silence her
mighty voice. The waves will
roar like great waters; the
tumult of their voices will resound.
Because the
spoiler is come upon her, even upon Babylon, and her
mighty men are taken, every one of their bows is broken: for the LORD God of recompences shall surely requite.
For a destroyer is coming against her— against Babylon. Her warriors will be captured, and their bows will be broken, for the LORD is a God of
retribution; He will repay in full.
And I will make
drunk her princes, and her wise men, her captains, and her rulers, and her
mighty men: and they shall sleep a perpetual sleep, and not
wake, saith the King, whose name is the LORD of hosts.
I will make her princes and wise men
drunk, along with her governors, officials, and warriors. Then they will fall
asleep forever and not
wake up,” declares the King, whose name is the LORD of Hosts.
The Lord hath
trodden under foot all my
mighty men in the midst of me: he hath called an assembly against me to
crush my young men: the Lord hath
trodden the virgin, the daughter of Judah, as in a winepress.
The Lord has rejected all the
mighty men in my midst; He has summoned an army against me to
crush my young warriors. Like grapes in a winepress, the Lord has
trampled the Virgin Daughter of Judah.
Wherefore I will bring the worst of the heathen, and they shall possess their houses: I will also make the
pomp of the strong to cease; and their holy places shall be
defiled.
So I will bring the most wicked of nations to take possession of their houses. I will end the pride of the
mighty, and their holy places will be
profaned.
There was also another great eagle with great wings and many feathers: and, behold, this vine did bend her roots toward him, and shot forth her branches toward him, that he
might water it by the furrows of her
plantation.
But there was another great eagle with great wings and many feathers. And behold, this vine bent its roots toward him. It stretched out its branches to him from its planting bed, so that he might water it.
It was planted in a good soil by great waters, that it might bring forth branches, and that it might bear fruit, that it might be a goodly vine.
It had been planted in good soil by abundant waters in order to yield branches and bear fruit and become a splendid vine.’
And hath taken of the king’s seed, and made a covenant with him, and hath taken an oath of him: he hath also taken the mighty of the land:
He took a member of the royal family and made a covenant with him, putting him under oath. Then he carried away the leading men of the land,
That the kingdom might be base, that it might not lift itself up, but that by keeping of his covenant it might stand.
so that the kingdom would be brought low, unable to lift itself up,
surviving only by keeping his covenant.
But he rebelled against him in sending his ambassadors into Egypt, that they
might give him horses and much people. Shall he
prosper? shall he escape that doeth such things? or shall he break the covenant, and be delivered?
But this king rebelled against Babylon by sending his envoys to Egypt to ask for horses and a large army. Will he
flourish? Will the one who does such things escape? Can he break a covenant and yet escape?’
Neither shall Pharaoh with his mighty army and great company make for him in the war, by casting up mounts, and building forts, to cut off many persons:
Pharaoh with his
mighty army and vast
horde will not help him in battle, when ramps are built and siege walls constructed to destroy many lives.
Moreover also I gave them my sabbaths, to be a sign between me and them, that they
might know that I am the LORD that
sanctify them.
I also gave them My Sabbaths as a sign between us, so that they would know that I am the LORD who sanctifies them.
And I
polluted them in their own gifts, in that they caused to pass through the fire all that openeth the
womb, that I
might make them
desolate, to the end that they
might know that I am the LORD.
And I pronounced them unclean through their gifts—the sacrifice of every
firstborn in the fire—so that I
might devastate them, in order that they would know that I am the LORD.
As I live, saith the Lord GOD, surely with a
mighty hand, and with a stretched out arm, and with
fury poured out, will I rule over you:
As surely as I live, declares the Lord GOD, with a strong hand, an outstretched arm, and outpoured wrath I will rule over you.
And I will bring you out from the people, and will gather you out of the countries wherein ye are scattered, with a
mighty hand, and with a stretched out arm, and with
fury poured out.
With a strong hand, an outstretched arm, and outpoured wrath I will bring you out from the peoples and gather you from the lands to which you have been scattered.
That it
might cause
fury to come up to take
vengeance; I have set her blood upon the top of a rock, that it should not be covered.
In order to
stir up wrath and take
