Forasmuch as there is none like unto thee, O LORD; thou art great, and thy
name is great in might.
There is none like You, O LORD. You are great, and Your name is mighty in power.
The portion of Jacob is not like them: for he is the former of all things; and Israel is the rod of his inheritance: The LORD of hosts is his name.
The Portion of Jacob is not like these, for He is the Maker of all things, and Israel is the tribe of His inheritance— the LORD of Hosts is His name.
Pour out thy
fury upon the heathen that know thee not, and upon the families that call not on thy
name: for they have eaten up Jacob, and
devoured him, and consumed him, and have made his
habitation desolate.
Pour out Your wrath on the nations that do not acknowledge You, and on the families that do not call on Your
name. For they have
devoured Jacob; they have consumed him and finished him off; they have
devastated his homeland.
The LORD called thy
name, A green olive tree, fair, and of goodly fruit: with the noise of a great
tumult he hath
kindled fire upon it, and the branches of it are broken.
The LORD once called you a flourishing olive tree, beautiful with well-formed fruit. But with a mighty
roar He will set it on fire, and its branches will be consumed.
But I was like a lamb or an ox that is brought to the slaughter; and I knew not that they had devised devices against me, saying, Let us destroy the tree with the fruit thereof, and let us cut him off from the land of the living, that his name may be no more remembered.
For I was like a gentle lamb led to slaughter; I did not know that they had
plotted against me: “Let us destroy the tree with its fruit; let us cut him off from the land of the living, that his
name may be remembered no more.”
Therefore thus saith the LORD of the men of Anathoth, that seek thy life, saying,
Prophesy not in the
name of the LORD, that thou die not by our hand:
Therefore this is what the LORD says concerning the people of Anathoth who are seeking your life and saying, “You must not
prophesy in the
name of the LORD, or you will die by our hand.”
And it shall come to pass, if they will
diligently learn the ways of my people, to
swear by my
name, The LORD liveth; as they taught my people to
swear by
Baal; then shall they be built in the midst of my people.
And if they will
diligently learn the ways of My people and
swear by My
name, saying, ‘As surely as the LORD lives’—just as they once taught My people to
swear by
Baal—then they will be established among My people.
For as the
girdle cleaveth to the loins of a man, so have I caused to
cleave unto me the whole house of Israel and the whole house of Judah, saith the LORD; that they might be unto me for a people, and for a
name, and for a praise, and for a glory: but they would not hear.
For just as a loincloth clings to a man’s
waist, so I have made the whole house of Israel and the whole house of Judah
cling to Me, declares the LORD, so that they might be My people for My
renown and praise and glory. But they did not
listen.
O LORD, though our
iniquities testify against us, do thou it for thy
name’s sake: for our backslidings are many; we have
sinned against thee.
Although our
iniquities testify against us, O LORD, act for the sake of Your
name. Indeed, our rebellions are many; we have
sinned against You.
Why shouldest thou be as a man
astonied, as a mighty man that cannot save? yet thou, O LORD, art in the midst of us, and we are called by thy
name; leave us not.
Why are You like a man taken by surprise, like a
warrior powerless to save? Yet You are among us, O LORD, and we are called by Your
name. Do not
forsake us!
Then the LORD said unto me, The prophets
prophesy lies in my
name: I sent them not, neither have I commanded them, neither spake unto them: they
prophesy unto you a false vision and
divination, and a thing of
nought, and the
deceit of their heart.
Therefore thus saith the LORD concerning the prophets that
prophesy in my
name, and I sent them not, yet they say, Sword and famine shall not be in this land; By sword and famine shall those prophets be consumed.
Therefore this is what the LORD says about the prophets who
prophesy in My
name: I did not send them, yet they say, ‘No sword or famine will touch this land.’ By sword and famine these very prophets will meet their end!
Do not
abhor us, for thy
name’s sake, do not disgrace the throne of thy glory: remember, break not thy covenant with us.
For the sake of Your
name do not
despise us; do not disgrace Your glorious throne. Remember Your covenant with us; do not break it.
Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and
rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy
name, O LORD God of hosts.
Your words were found, and I
ate them. Your words became my joy and my heart’s delight. For I bear Your
name, O LORD God of Hosts.
Therefore, behold, I will this once cause them to know, I will cause them to know mine hand and my might; and they shall know that my name is The LORD.
“Therefore behold, I will inform them, and this time I will make them know My power and My might; then they will know that My name is the LORD.
And it came to pass on the
morrow, that Pashur brought forth Jeremiah out of the stocks. Then said Jeremiah unto him, The LORD hath not called thy
name Pashur, but Magor-missabib.
The next day, when Pashhur released Jeremiah from the stocks, Jeremiah said to him, “The LORD does not call you Pashhur, but Magor-missabib.
Then I said, I will not make mention of him, nor speak any more in his
name. But his word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was
weary with
forbearing, and I could not stay.
If I say, “I will not mention Him or speak any more in His
name,” His message becomes a fire burning in my heart, shut up in my bones, and I become
weary of holding it in, and I cannot prevail.
In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this is his name whereby he shall be called, THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.
In His days Judah will be saved, and Israel will dwell securely. And this is His name by which He will be called: The LORD Our Righteousness.
I have heard what the prophets said, that
prophesy lies in my
name, saying, I have dreamed, I have dreamed.
“I have heard the sayings of the prophets who
prophesy lies in My
name: ‘I had a dream! I had a dream!’
Which think to cause my people to
forget my
name by their dreams which they tell every man to his neighbour, as their fathers have forgotten my
name for
Baal.
They suppose the dreams that they tell one another will make My people
forget My
name, just as their fathers
forgot My
name through the worship of
Baal.
For, lo, I begin to bring evil on the city which is called by my name, and should ye be utterly unpunished? Ye shall not be unpunished: for I will call for a sword upon all the inhabitants of the earth, saith the LORD of hosts.
For behold, I am beginning to bring
disaster on the city that bears My
Name, so how could you possibly go unpunished? You will not go unpunished, for I am calling down a sword upon all the inhabitants of the earth, declares the LORD of Hosts.’
Why hast thou
prophesied in the
name of the LORD, saying, This house shall be like
Shiloh, and this city shall be
desolate without an inhabitant? And all the people were gathered against Jeremiah in the house of the LORD.
How
dare you
prophesy in the
name of the LORD that this house will become like
Shiloh and this city will be
desolate and deserted!” And all the people assembled against Jeremiah in the house of the LORD.
Then said the princes and all the people unto the priests and to the prophets; This man is not worthy to die: for he hath spoken to us in the name of the LORD our God.
Then the officials and all the people told the priests and prophets, “This man is not worthy of death, for he has spoken to us in the name of the LORD our God!”
And there was also a man that
prophesied in the
name of the LORD, Urijah the son of Shemaiah of Kirjath-jearim, who
prophesied against this city and against this land according to all the words of Jeremiah:
Now there was another man
prophesying in the
name of the LORD, Uriah son of Shemaiah from Kiriath-jearim. He
prophesied against this city and against this land the same things that Jeremiah did.
And
Jehoiakim the king sent men into Egypt,
namely, Elnathan the son of Achbor, and certain men with him into Egypt.
Then King
Jehoiakim sent men to Egypt: Elnathan son of Achbor along with some other men.
For I have not sent them, saith the LORD, yet they
prophesy a lie in my
name; that I might drive you out, and that ye might perish, ye, and the prophets that
prophesy unto you.
For I have not sent them, declares the LORD, and yet they are
prophesying falsely in My
name; therefore I will
banish you, and you will perish—you and the prophets who
prophesy to you.”
For they
prophesy falsely unto you in my
name: I have not sent them, saith the LORD.
For they are falsely
prophesying to you in My
name; I have not sent them, declares the LORD.”
Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, of
Ahab the son of Kolaiah, and of
Zedekiah the son of Maaseiah, which
prophesy a lie unto you in my
name; Behold, I will deliver them into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon; and he shall
slay them before your eyes;
This is what the LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, says about
Ahab son of Kolaiah and
Zedekiah son of Maaseiah, who are
prophesying to you lies in My
name: “I will deliver them to
Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and he will kill them before your very eyes.
Because they have committed
villany in Israel, and have committed
adultery with their neighbours’ wives, and have spoken lying words in my
name, which I have not commanded them; even I know, and am a witness, saith the LORD.
For they have committed an
outrage in Israel by
committing adultery with the wives of their neighbors and speaking lies in My
name, which I did not command them to do. I am He who knows, and I am a witness, declares the LORD.”
Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, saying, Because thou hast sent letters in thy
name unto all the people that are at Jerusalem, and to
Zephaniah the son of Maaseiah the priest, and to all the priests, saying,
this is what the LORD of Hosts, the God of Israel, says: “In your own
name you have sent out letters to all the people of Jerusalem, to the priest
Zephaniah son of Maaseiah, and to all the priests. You said to
Zephaniah:
Thus saith the LORD, which giveth the sun for a light by day, and the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, which divideth the sea when the waves thereof
roar; The LORD of hosts is his
name:
Thus says the LORD, who gives the sun for light by day, who sets in order the moon and stars for light by night, who stirs up the sea so that its waves
roar—the LORD of Hosts is His
name:
Thou shewest lovingkindness unto thousands, and recompensest the iniquity of the fathers into the
bosom of their children after them: the Great, the Mighty God, the LORD of hosts, is his
name,
You show loving devotion to thousands but lay the iniquity of the fathers into the laps of their children after them, O great and mighty God whose name is the LORD of Hosts,
Which hast set signs and wonders in the land of Egypt, even unto this day, and in Israel, and among other men; and hast made thee a name, as at this day;
You performed signs and wonders in the land of Egypt, and You do so to this very day, both in Israel and among all mankind. And You have made a
name for
Yourself, as is the case to this day.
But they set their abominations in the house, which is called by my
name, to
defile it.
They have placed their abominations in the house that bears My
Name, and so have
defiled it.
Thus saith the LORD the maker thereof, the LORD that formed it, to establish it; the LORD is his name;
“Thus says the LORD who made the earth, the LORD who formed it and established it, the LORD is His name:
And it shall be to me a
name of joy, a praise and an honour before all the nations of the earth, which shall hear all the good that I do unto them: and they shall fear and
tremble for all the goodness and for all the prosperity that I
procure unto it.
So this city will bring Me
renown, joy, praise, and glory before all the nations of the earth, who will hear of all the good I do for it. They will
tremble in
awe because of all the goodness and prosperity that I will provide for it.
In those days shall Judah be saved, and Jerusalem shall dwell safely: and this is the
name wherewith she shall be called, The LORD our righteousness.
In those days Judah will be saved, and Jerusalem will dwell securely, and this is the name by which it will be called: The LORD Our Righteousness.
And ye were now turned, and had done right in my sight, in
proclaiming liberty every man to his neighbour; and ye had made a covenant before me in the house which is called by my
name:
Recently you
repented and did what pleased Me; each of you proclaimed freedom for his
neighbor. You made a covenant before Me in the house that bears My
Name.
But ye turned and
polluted my
name, and caused every man his servant, and every man his
handmaid, whom ye had set at liberty at their pleasure, to return, and brought them into subjection, to be unto you for servants and for handmaids.
But now you have changed your minds and
profaned My
name. Each of you has taken back the menservants and maidservants whom you had set at liberty to go wherever they wanted, and you have again forced them to be your slaves.
And when he was in the gate of Benjamin, a captain of the ward was there, whose name was Irijah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Hananiah; and he took Jeremiah the prophet, saying, Thou fallest away to the Chaldeans.
But when he reached the Gate of Benjamin, the captain of the guard, whose name was Irijah son of Shelemiah, the son of Hananiah, seized him and said, “You are deserting to the Chaldeans!”
As for the word that thou hast spoken unto us in the
name of the LORD, we will not
hearken unto thee.
“As for the word you have spoken to us in the
name of the LORD, we will not
listen to you!
Therefore hear ye the word of the LORD, all Judah that dwell in the land of Egypt; Behold, I have
sworn by my great
name, saith the LORD, that my
name shall no more be
named in the mouth of any man of Judah in all the land of Egypt, saying, The Lord GOD liveth.
Nevertheless, hear the word of the LORD, all you people of Judah living in Egypt: Behold, I have
sworn by My great
name, says the LORD, that never again will any man of Judah living in the land of Egypt
invoke My
name or say, ‘As surely as the Lord GOD lives.’
As I live, saith the King, whose
name is the LORD of hosts, Surely as
Tabor is among the mountains, and as
Carmel by the sea, so shall he come.
As surely as I live, declares the King, whose
name is the LORD of Hosts, there will come one who is like
Tabor among the mountains and like
Carmel by the sea.
Moab is
spoiled, and gone up out of her cities, and his chosen young men are gone down to the slaughter, saith the King, whose
name is the LORD of hosts.
Moab has been destroyed and its towns have been invaded; the best of its young men have gone down in the slaughter, declares the King, whose name is the LORD of Hosts.
All ye that are about him,
bemoan him; and all ye that know his
name, say, How is the strong staff broken, and the beautiful rod!
Their
Redeemer is strong; the LORD of hosts is his
name: he shall throughly
plead their cause, that he may give rest to the land, and disquiet the inhabitants of Babylon.
Their
Redeemer is strong; the LORD of Hosts is His
name. He will
fervently plead their case so that He may bring rest to the earth, but
turmoil to those who live in Babylon.
The portion of Jacob is not like them; for he is the former of all things: and Israel is the rod of his inheritance: the LORD of hosts is his name.
The Portion of Jacob is not like these, for He is the Maker of all things, and of the tribe of His inheritance— the LORD of Hosts is His name.
And I will make
drunk her princes, and her wise men, her captains, and her rulers, and her mighty men: and they shall sleep a perpetual sleep, and not
wake, saith the King, whose
name is the LORD of hosts.
I will make her princes and wise men
drunk, along with her governors, officials, and warriors. Then they will fall
asleep forever and not
wake up,” declares the King, whose
name is the LORD of Hosts.
Zedekiah was one and twenty years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. And his mother’s
name was Hamutal the daughter of Jeremiah of
Libnah.
Zedekiah was twenty-one years old when he became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem eleven years. His mother’s
name was Hamutal daughter of Jeremiah; she was from
Libnah.
I called upon thy
name, O LORD, out of the low
dungeon.
I called on Your name, O LORD, out of the depths of the Pit.
But I wrought for my
name’s sake, that it should not be
polluted before the heathen, among whom they were, in whose sight I made myself known unto them, in bringing them forth out of the land of Egypt.
But I acted for the sake of My
name, that it should not be
profaned in the eyes of the nations among whom they were living, in whose sight I had revealed Myself to Israel by bringing them out of the land of Egypt.
But I wrought for my
name’s sake, that it should not be
polluted before the heathen, in whose sight I brought them out.
But I acted for the sake of My
name, so that it would not be
profaned in the eyes of the nations in whose sight I had brought them out.
Nevertheless I withdrew mine hand, and wrought for my
name’s sake, that it should not be
polluted in the sight of the heathen, in whose sight I brought them forth.
But I
withheld My hand and acted for the sake of My
name, so that it would not be
profaned in the eyes of the nations in whose sight I had brought them out.
Then I said unto them, What is the high place
whereunto ye go? And the
name thereof is called Bamah unto this day.
So I asked them: ‘What is this high place to which you go?’ (And to this day it is called Bamah.)
As for you, O house of Israel, thus saith the Lord GOD; Go ye, serve ye every one his idols, and
hereafter also, if ye will not
hearken unto me: but
pollute ye my holy
name no more with your gifts, and with your idols.
And as for you, O house of Israel, this is what the Lord GOD says: Go and serve your idols, every one of you. But afterward, you will surely
listen to Me, and you will no longer
defile My holy
name with your gifts and idols.
And ye shall know that I am the LORD, when I have wrought with you for my name’s sake, not according to your wicked ways, nor according to your corrupt doings, O ye house of Israel, saith the Lord GOD.
Then you will know, O house of Israel, that I am the LORD, when I have dealt with you for the sake of My name and not according to your wicked ways and corrupt acts, declares the Lord GOD.”
And the
names of them were Aholah the elder, and
Aholibah her sister: and they were mine, and they bare sons and daughters. Thus were their
names; Samaria is Aholah, and Jerusalem
Aholibah.
The older was
named Oholah, and her sister was
named Oholibah. They became Mine and gave birth to sons and daughters. As for their
identities, Oholah is Samaria, and Oholibah is Jerusalem.
Son of man, write thee the name of the day, even of this same day: the king of Babylon set himself against Jerusalem this same day.
“Son of man, write down
today’s date, for on this very day the king of Babylon has laid siege to Jerusalem.
And when they entered unto the heathen,
whither they went, they
profaned my holy
name, when they said to them, These are the people of the LORD, and are gone forth out of his land.
And wherever they went among the nations, they
profaned My holy
name, because it was said of them, ‘These are the people of the LORD, yet they had to leave His land.’
But I had
pity for mine holy
name, which the house of Israel had
profaned among the heathen,
whither they went.
But I had
concern for My holy
name, which the house of Israel had
profaned among the nations to which they had gone.
Therefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; I do not this for your sakes, O house of Israel, but for mine holy
name’s sake, which ye have
profaned among the heathen,
whither ye went.
Therefore tell the house of Israel that this is what the Lord GOD says: It is not for your sake that I will act, O house of Israel, but for My holy
name, which you
profaned among the nations to which you went.
And I will
sanctify my great
name, which was
profaned among the heathen, which ye have
profaned in the midst of them; and the heathen shall know that I am the LORD, saith the Lord GOD, when I shall be
sanctified in you before their eyes.
I will show the
holiness of My great
name, which has been
profaned among the nations—the
name you have
profaned among them. Then the nations will know that I am the LORD, declares the Lord GOD, when I show My
holiness in you before their eyes.
So will I make my holy
name known in the midst of my people Israel; and I will not let them
pollute my holy
name any more: and the heathen shall know that I am the LORD, the Holy One in Israel.
So I will make My holy
name known among My people Israel and will no longer allow it to be
profaned. Then the nations will know that I am the LORD, the Holy One in Israel.
And also the
name of the city shall be Hamonah. Thus shall they
cleanse the land.
(Even the city will be
named Hamonah.) And so they will
cleanse the land.
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Now will I bring again the captivity of Jacob, and have mercy upon the whole house of Israel, and will be
jealous for my holy
name;
Therefore this is what the Lord GOD says: Now I will restore Jacob from captivity and will have
compassion on the whole house of Israel, and I will be
jealous for My holy
name.
And he said unto me, Son of man, the place of my throne, and the place of the soles of my feet, where I will dwell in the midst of the children of Israel for ever, and my holy
name, shall the house of Israel no more
defile, neither they, nor their kings, by their
whoredom, nor by the carcases of their kings in their high places.
and He said to me, “Son of man, this is the place of My throne and the place for the soles of My feet, where I will dwell among the Israelites
forever. The house of Israel will never again
defile My holy
name—neither they nor their kings—by their
prostitution and by the funeral offerings for their kings at their deaths.
In their setting of their
threshold by my thresholds, and their post by my posts, and the wall between me and them, they have even
defiled my holy
name by their abominations that they have committed: wherefore I have consumed them in mine anger.
When they placed their
threshold next to My
threshold and their doorposts beside My doorposts, with only a wall between Me and them, they
defiled My holy
name by the abominations they committed. Therefore I have consumed them in My anger.
Now these are the
names of the tribes. From the north end to the coast of the way of Hethlon, as one goeth to
Hamath, Hazar-enan, the border of Damascus northward, to the coast of
Hamath; for these are his sides east and west; a portion for
Dan.
“Now these are the
names of the tribes: At the northern frontier,
Dan will have one portion bordering the road of Hethlon to Lebo-
hamath and running on to Hazar-enan on the border of Damascus with
Hamath to the north, and extending from the east side to the west side.
And the gates of the city shall be after the
names of the tribes of Israel: three gates northward; one gate of
Reuben, one gate of Judah, one gate of Levi.
Beginning on the north side, which will be 4,500 cubits long, the gates of the city will be
named after the tribes of Israel. On the north side there will be three gates: the gate of
Reuben, the gate of Judah, and the gate of Levi.
It was round about eighteen thousand measures: and the name of the city from that day shall be, The LORD is there.
The
perimeter of the city will be 18,000 cubits, and from that day on the
name of the city will be: THE LORD IS THERE.”
Unto whom the prince of the eunuchs gave
names: for he gave unto Daniel the
name of Belteshazzar; and to Hananiah, of
Shadrach; and to Mishael, of Meshach; and to
Azariah, of
Abed-nego.
The chief official gave them new
names: To Daniel he gave the
name Belteshazzar; to Hananiah,
Shadrach; to Mishael, Meshach; and to
Azariah,
Abednego.
Daniel answered and said, Blessed be the name of God for ever and ever: for wisdom and might are his:
and declared: “Blessed be the
name of God
forever and ever, for wisdom and power belong to Him.
The king answered and said to Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, Art thou able to make known unto me the dream which I have seen, and the interpretation thereof?
The king
responded to Daniel, whose
name was Belteshazzar, “Are you able to tell me what I saw in the dream, as well as its interpretation?”
But at the last Daniel came in before me, whose name was Belteshazzar, according to the name of my god, and in whom is the spirit of the holy gods: and before him I told the dream, saying,
But at last, into my presence came Daniel (whose name is Belteshazzar after the name of my god, and in whom is the spirit of the holy gods). And I told him the dream:
Then Daniel, whose
name was Belteshazzar, was
astonied for one hour, and his thoughts troubled him. The king spake, and said, Belteshazzar, let not the dream, or the interpretation thereof, trouble thee. Belteshazzar answered and said, My lord, the dream be to them that
hate thee, and the interpretation thereof to thine enemies.
For a time, Daniel, who was also known as Belteshazzar, was
perplexed, and his thoughts
alarmed him. So the king said, “Belteshazzar, do not let the dream or its interpretation
alarm you.” “My lord,” replied Belteshazzar, “may the dream apply to those who
hate you, and its interpretation to your enemies!
Forasmuch as an excellent spirit, and knowledge, and understanding,
interpreting of dreams, and
shewing of hard sentences, and
dissolving of doubts, were found in the same Daniel, whom the king
named Belteshazzar: now let Daniel be called, and he will
shew the interpretation.
did this because Daniel, the one he
named Belteshazzar, was found to have an extraordinary spirit, as well as knowledge, understanding, and the ability to
interpret dreams, explain
riddles, and
solve difficult problems.
Summon Daniel, therefore, and he will give you the interpretation.”
Neither have we
hearkened unto thy servants the prophets, which spake in thy
name to our kings, our princes, and our fathers, and to all the people of the land.
We have not
listened to Your servants the prophets, who spoke in Your
name to our kings, leaders, and fathers, and to all the people of the land.
And now, O Lord our God, that hast brought thy people forth out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand, and hast
gotten thee
renown, as at this day; we have
sinned, we have done wickedly.
Now, O Lord our God, who brought Your people out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand, and who made for
Yourself a
name renowned to this day, we have
sinned; we have acted wickedly.
O my God,
incline thine ear, and hear; open thine eyes, and behold our desolations, and the city which is called by thy
name: for we do not present our supplications before thee for our righteousnesses, but for thy great
mercies.
Incline Your ear, O my God, and hear; open Your eyes and see the
desolation of the city that bears Your
name. For we are not presenting our petitions before You because of our righteous acts, but because of Your great
compassion.
O Lord, hear; O Lord,
forgive; O Lord,
hearken and do;
defer not, for thine own sake, O my God: for thy city and thy people are called by thy
name.
O Lord,
listen! O Lord,
forgive! O Lord, hear and act! For Your sake, O my God, do not delay, because Your city and Your people bear Your
name.”
In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia a thing was revealed unto Daniel, whose name was called Belteshazzar; and the thing was true, but the time appointed was long: and he understood the thing, and had understanding of the vision.
In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia, a message was revealed to Daniel, who was called Belteshazzar. The message was true, and it concerned a great conflict. And the understanding of the message was given to him in a vision.
And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book.
“At that time Michael, the great prince who stands watch over your people, will rise up. There will be a time of distress, the likes of which will not have occurred from the beginning of nations until that time. But at that time your people—
everyone whose
name is found written in the book—will be delivered.
And the LORD said unto him, Call his
name Jezreel; for yet a little while, and I will
avenge the blood of
Jezreel upon the house of
Jehu, and will cause to cease the kingdom of the house of Israel.
Then the LORD said to
Hosea, “
Name him
Jezreel, for soon I will bring the
bloodshed of
Jezreel upon the house of
Jehu, and I will put an end to the kingdom of Israel.
And she conceived again, and bare a daughter. And God said unto him, Call her name Lo-ruhamah: for I will no more have mercy upon the house of Israel; but I will utterly take them away.
Gomer again conceived and gave birth to a daughter, and the LORD said to
Hosea, “
Name her Lo-ruhamah, for I will no longer have
compassion on the house of Israel, that I should ever
forgive them.
Then said God, Call his name Lo-ammi: for ye are not my people, and I will not be your God.
And the LORD said, “Name him Lo-ammi, for you are not My people, and I am not your God.
For I will take away the
names of
Baalim out of her mouth, and they shall no more be remembered by their
name.
For I will remove from her lips the
names of the Baals; no longer will their
names be
invoked.
Even the LORD God of hosts; the LORD is his
memorial.
the LORD is the God of Hosts— the LORD is His
name of
renown.
And ye shall eat in
plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the
name of the LORD your God, that hath dealt
wondrously with you: and my people shall never be
ashamed.
You will have
plenty to eat, until you are satisfied. You will praise the
name of the LORD your God, who has worked wonders for you. My people will never again be put to shame.
And it shall come to pass, that
whosoever shall call on the
name of the LORD shall be delivered: for in mount
Zion and in Jerusalem shall be
deliverance, as the LORD hath said, and in the
remnant whom the LORD shall call.
And
everyone who calls on the
name of the LORD will be saved; for on Mount
Zion and in Jerusalem there will be
deliverance, as the LORD has promised, among the
remnant called by the LORD.
That
pant after the dust of the earth on the head of the poor, and turn aside the way of the
meek: and a man and his father will go in unto the same
maid, to
profane my holy
name:
They
trample on the heads of the poor as on the dust of the earth; they
push the
needy out of their way. A man and his father have relations with the same
girl and so
profane My holy
name.
For, lo, he that formeth the mountains, and createth the wind, and declareth unto man what is his thought, that maketh the morning darkness, and treadeth upon the high places of the earth, The LORD, The God of hosts, is his name.
For behold, He who forms the mountains, who creates the wind and reveals His thoughts to man, who turns the
dawn to darkness and strides on the heights of the earth— the LORD, the God of Hosts, is His
name.”
Seek him that maketh the seven stars and
Orion, and turneth the shadow of death into the morning, and maketh the day dark with night: that calleth for the waters of the sea, and poureth them out upon the face of the earth: The LORD is his
name:
He who made the
Pleiades and
Orion, who turns darkness into
dawn and darkens day into night, who
summons the waters of the sea and pours them over the face of the earth— the LORD is His
name—
Therefore will I cause you to go into captivity beyond Damascus, saith the LORD, whose name is The God of hosts.
Therefore I will send you into exile beyond Damascus,” says the LORD, whose name is the God of Hosts.
Woe to them that are at ease in
Zion, and trust in the mountain of Samaria, which are
named chief of the nations, to whom the house of Israel came!
Woe to those at ease in
Zion and those secure on Mount Samaria, the distinguished ones of the foremost nation, to whom the house of Israel comes.
And a man’s uncle shall take him up, and he that burneth him, to bring out the bones out of the house, and shall say unto him that is by the sides of the house, Is there yet any with thee? and he shall say, No. Then shall he say, Hold thy tongue: for we may not make mention of the name of the LORD.
And when the relative who is to burn the bodies picks them up to remove them from the house, he will call to one inside, “Is
anyone else with you?” “None,” that person will answer. “Silence,” the relative will
retort, “for the
name of the LORD must not be
invoked.”
It is he that buildeth his stories in the heaven, and hath founded his
troop in the earth; he that calleth for the waters of the sea, and poureth them out upon the face of the earth: The LORD is his
name.
He builds His upper rooms in the heavens and founds His
vault upon the earth. He
summons the waters of the sea and pours them over the face of the earth. The LORD is His
name.
That they may possess the
remnant of
Edom, and of all the heathen, which are called by my
name, saith the LORD that doeth this.
that they may possess the
remnant of
Edom and all the nations that bear My
name,” declares the LORD, who will do this.
O thou that art
named the house of Jacob, is the spirit of the LORD
straitened? are these his doings? do not my words do good to him that walketh uprightly?
Should it be said, O house of Jacob, “Is the Spirit of the LORD impatient? Are these the things He does?” Do not My words bring good to him who walks uprightly?
For all people will walk every one in the name of his god, and we will walk in the name of the LORD our God for ever and ever.
Though each of the peoples may walk in the
name of his god, yet we will walk in the
name of the LORD our God
forever and ever.
And he shall stand and feed in the strength of the LORD, in the majesty of the
name of the LORD his God; and they shall
abide: for now shall he be great unto the ends of the earth.
He will stand and
shepherd His flock in the strength of the LORD, in the
majestic name of the LORD His God. And they will dwell securely, for then His greatness will extend to the ends of the earth.
